Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Morning Breeze, The Morning Breeze on Demand.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
You've got The Morning Breeze with Carolyn and Court And
as we do every Friday morning, at this time, we
get to announce our next Morning Breeze Person of the Week.
And as I just said, it's another first as we
make this announcement.

Speaker 1 (00:17):
Yeah, this is the first time we've ever had somebody
that I can remember nominating somebody for something specific.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
A very specific reason.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
And there is no right or wrong here. You could
be nominating somebody for all of the great things that
they do, or you could be nominating somebody because they
did something that's so important to you and such a
big deal to you. In this case, it's Teresa who
nominated her niece Angelica. So Teresa, tell us why you're
nominating Angelica.

Speaker 3 (00:44):
My dad, who's eighty eight, wanted to go to New
Mexico to visit his brother. They're actually having a funeral
for his wife that passed away. And I lost my
mom five years ago, so this is really important for
him because his brother just lost his wife and so
he wanted to be there. But he can't drive like
he used to used to drive, like straight to New Mexico.

(01:04):
On his own, but he can't do that anymore. So
my niece, her and her boyfriend kicked him up from Richmond, California,
drove him to Ratto, New Mexico, which is where my
family's from, in two days in time for the service,
and then she drove all the way back home because
she had to go back to work the same day.
She drove back. Yeah, she drove back the same day.
I just thought it was a great thing for her
to do, and I just I love her for it.

(01:27):
So I don't know how to go how to thank
her for what she did, so I thought I'd nominate her.

Speaker 2 (01:31):
Well, it's really great because obviously we were choosing Angelica
as our Morning Breeze Person of the Week, and you
left out the part where you said that she was
a mother of three, so on top of oh my god,
on top of being a mother of three, she's making
all of this happen.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
Yes, she is. She is for my dad.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
Yeah, yeah, so great.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
And it's interesting because you know, a lot of times
for our Morning Breeze Persons of the Week, we get
nominations for people that are just like overall good people,
and Angelica I certainly is that. But what's interesting is
you're kind of calling us about a particular, specific thing,
a specific thing in this case, right, taking him to
New Mexico and driving home the same day. So she's
like all the things we love all in one. I mean,

(02:12):
it's great.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
Right exactly. She's always taking care of my dad and
making sure that he's taken care of, and she always
checks on him and make sure that he's taken care of,
and so I really appreciate what she's done. Wow.

Speaker 1 (02:24):
Do you know I called her right now if you
think we could get her? Do you know her schedule?

Speaker 3 (02:28):
So she's on the road now because she's going to
take my dad up tomorrow. So she actually took her
whole family, all the kids, and they're driving like the
Grand Canyon and they're doing something. You can try to
call her.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
Yeah, let us try and call. She might answer, just
she might kill time in the car. So hold on
one sec. Okay, right, Hello Angelica, Yes, Hi, this is
Carolyn and Court from ninety eight point one The Breeze. Hello, Hi, Hi,
we have Teresa on the phone with us or is
it Aunt Teresa?

Speaker 3 (03:03):
Yeah, my aunt Teresa. So delok at They do a
Person of the Week and I need you put one
and I nominated you because of what you did for
I'm going to start crying for what you did for Pappoo.
So they called my dad Poppoo all the grandkids. So
I love that she's for what you did for him,
for dropping him off in New Mexico and then going

(03:23):
to pick him up and everything you've done for him.
So I just wanted to thank you so much, and
I appreciate you. Oh my god, she's the best. She's
the best niece ever.

Speaker 1 (03:35):
All right, No, seriously, what a sweet niece you are.
Where does this compassion come from that you've got.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
From my grandparents? You know, they raised me and I
was little. My mom was only fifteen when she had me,
so they've done a lot for me. So I would
do anything for her.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
Yeah, that's so sweet. And it sounds it sounds Angelica
like truly. Oh it's all good. It sounds like you're
truly living up to your name, because Teresa describes you
that you're truly an angel on earth. Just everything you do.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
Thank you, Thank you.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
So.

Speaker 2 (04:16):
In addition to being named the Morning Breeze Person of
the Week, we also have something else for you, which
is brunch for two on the Bay courtesy of City Cruises.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
Oh my gosh, thank you so much.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
You've seen those beautiful City Cruises boats out on the
Bay where you go out and have brunch and you
look at all the sites in the Bay area. You
get to go do one of those on our dime.
Thanks to me for telling us about you.

Speaker 3 (04:42):
I will watch the kids for you, guys, saying thank you,
thank you so much, appreciate you guys, and honey, I
love you guys. Have a safe trip back. Okay, I
love you.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
I love you too.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
Adorable it is. I love love love that person of
the Week. And if you've got somebody in mind that
you think would make a great Morning Breeze Person of
the Week for next Friday morning, we'd love to hear
from you.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
Yeah, we've made it super easy. Just go to our
website and make that nomination. Ninety eight Onethebreeze dot com

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
