Schafer pulls up with the freaker line, goes into Sorenson catches,
She's fouled and one. Oh my goodness, I can't believe it.
Speaker 1 (00:26):
How in the world did Reagan Sorenson score that bucket?
Speaker 2 (00:29):
Tonight, the University of Wisconsin Stout Blue Devils hope to

the UW Whitewater Warhawks, with a trip to the Elite
eight on the line.
Speaker 1 (00:42):
Second one is Miss Wagner gets a rebound.
Speaker 3 (00:44):
I'll come Willie with four. With three, They're not gonna foul.
Speaker 1 (00:47):

Speaker 2 (00:56):
Now, let's go live to SCRINT in Pennsylvania and the
John Long Center for the call of tonight's game. Here's
the voice of the Blue Devils, Pete Knutsen.
Speaker 1 (01:07):
Indeed, from the John Long Center, we welcome you in
to the Sweet sixteen of the Division III Women's Basketball
NCAA Tournament right here on Newstalk WMQ AMA and eighty
one or six point three FM, WMQ dot com and iHeartRadio.
Speaker 3 (01:21):
Everybody. Pe Kautsa with you.
Speaker 1 (01:22):
Dan Price is our producer back in studio making it
happen back in the Chippewa Valley. We are here in Scranton,
Pennsylvania to watch two Wisconsin teams go against each.
Speaker 3 (01:32):
Other in the Sweet sixteen.
Speaker 1 (01:33):
These two teams in Whitewater and Stout, know themselves and
know each other very very well. This is the fourth
time that they've met this season. Stout is two to
one against Whitewater this year. Back they were on a
four game winning streak against Whitewater until it was snapped
by this Warhawk team in the semi final of the
YAC Tournament, a game the Blue Doubles would like to forget.
(01:53):
The last loss that they had, of course before the
NCAA Tournament. Wins last week for Stout over a good
ripping team and then Whitman that's fit overall seed in
the tournament, really kind of turning some heads and making
everybody think this stout team might have a chance to
get to the Final four. Now, One, they got to
get through this game today and then they got to
play in all likely a really really good Scranton team tomorrow. Again,
(02:15):
they're playing Johns Hopkins in game two of the night.
That's not going to be an easy battle for them either.
For white Water, they're in a nine game winning streak.
They have been playing their butts off here recently, and
it is all due to the fact that Casey Carraalom
has won the YAC Player of the Year leading scorer
in the league with twenty point four points per game,
also the leading rebounder in the league as well at
nine point three points per game. She's twentieth in the
(02:36):
NCAAA in scoring at that twenty point for mark as well,
this Whitewater squad brings a lot of determination, a lot
of experience. They have made the NCAA Tournament twenty four times,
the Sweet sixteen to eight and the Final four four
times as well. They have had the YAX leading or
pardon me, the WAYAK Player of the Year the last
(02:56):
four years. Three years for Leo Grendala now with Corraalo
winning it this year, the Loud Devils, of course hope
they'd have that this year.
Speaker 3 (03:03):
They did not.
Speaker 1 (03:04):
But Reagan Sorenson is playing awfully great and she hopes
to do a lot here today again. Hannah Much got
a career high in their game against Whipment. There's a
fourheaded monster fir Stout, and any one of those four
players in Lexi Wagner, Anna Much, Reagan Swords, Andanana Geese
and can be the player to watch that particular night.
Stout has depth, Whitewater does not. They've got seven players
in their rotation. They won't play anything outside of that
(03:25):
unless they get a lot of foul trouble in this game.
Gonna be a lot of bum We're glad to have
you along with us here from Scranton, Pennsylvania.
Speaker 3 (03:31):
Had a chance to sit down with Hanna Iverson.
Speaker 1 (03:33):
Let's listen in to that conversation as we get set
for Whitewater versus Stout in the Sweet sixteen, and Hannah
Iverson now joins us as we get set for a
Sweet sixteen matchups Stout versus Whitewater, and coach, we appreciate
you taking the time here in sunny scrant and Pennsylvania.
This is a weird thing to be playing obviously this
far away from home against a team here as familiar
with as you are, But gotta be fun for the
(03:55):
team to get a chance to get to this point
in the tournament and to get away from home and
have a chance to really do something fun.
Speaker 4 (04:01):
It is.
Speaker 5 (04:02):
I mean, I feel like I've said this a thousand times,
but when you're playing basketball in March, it's always a
good thing. It doesn't matter where you're going, who you're playing,
It is just a good thing. And I think, especially
with this team, like we just have a good time together.
So send us to Pennsylvania. The plane's fun, the buses
are fun. We just went and took a picture in
front of the office, miror like, we just have a
good time. And so I think for us, it's about
(04:23):
its being true to who we are and that's a
part of it. Like enjoying every moment of this journey
has just been a big piece for us and something
that I think we're all just holding on to every
minute as we walk through this this this sensitively tournament.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
As you take a look back at last week, and
we won't go all on it too much. Coming away
with a win against a team like Whitman, I'd imagine
coming into this week, you guys feel like you can
compete with anybody. I know that's always been the mentality,
but now you've got that evidence behind it. In addition
to playing all the YAK teams, but seeing a really
good team outside of conference and you know, playing like
you did, that's got to be even better for the
(04:54):
confidence as well.
Speaker 5 (04:55):
Yeah, and I think just the way we did it
too is the part that gives us confidence. I mean,
the resume that Whitman had put in place is just it's, yeah,
you're right, you beat a team like that, you do
add a piece of confidence to your puzzle. But I
think it was it added a big chunk for us
because of how we did it. We did it really
stuck in our system. We really kind of said, Okay,
(05:16):
let's just win or lose with what we do. And
that was the part for us that I think really
kind of feeled us to have a few of those
runs within the third and fourth quarter and sustain at
the end and just really buying together. And I think
that's the part that brought us confidence. Was like we
know we can play with anybody. We have to have
that chip on our shoulder. I think every team has
to have that chip on our shoulder, and that's the
thing we truly believe within our program. But to do
(05:36):
it within our system like that against a team like
that does definitely make you feel like you belong here.
Speaker 4 (05:41):
I mean, like there's no question marks behind our name
right now. I don't think.
Speaker 5 (05:44):
I think it's just us understanding that we believe we
can play with anybody.
Speaker 1 (05:47):
You said in the post game against Whitman. I think
Riley's aas picked up on it as well from D
three hoops. The phrase that you guys have in practice
is we're undersize.
Speaker 3 (05:56):
Get over it. What's that mentality?
Speaker 6 (05:58):
Like?
Speaker 1 (05:58):
I mean, is that kind of goes into what you
speak about, Like, Hey, it doesn't really matter any of
the stuff happening out there.
Speaker 3 (06:03):
We know if we all compete, we can compete with anybody.
Speaker 4 (06:06):
Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 5 (06:07):
And I think like anybody who's watched us play it
can tell that that's kind of the backbrone in a
mentality state standpoint, that's kind of the backbone of who
we are and what we do. Like you stack all
the cards against us, but we're still going to believe
we're supposed to win.
Speaker 4 (06:19):
You can push us against a wall, but we're going
to battle our way off.
Speaker 5 (06:22):
Like that is who we are, That's what we do,
and that's what we love to show up for. And
I think that piece is, you know we are we
we're an undersized team, and I think with that comes
a lot of strengths, a lot of things that we
can do really really well, and the parts that we don't,
we're just like do your best, you know, like try
to come get us at it. You know, even when
you look at our defensive system like we have we
(06:42):
run a buzz of the buzz defense where a lot
of times like sometimes there's things open and.
Speaker 4 (06:46):
We're like, okay, just try to throw it there.
Speaker 5 (06:48):
Like we kind of bait people to try to go
take advantage of the things that we know exist within
our strengths and weaknesses, and.
Speaker 4 (06:54):
We just believe we're tough enough.
Speaker 5 (06:56):
We're competitors where we've got a group full of honest
dogs that are just like willing to do whatever it
takes to get the job done. And I think at
any given moment, the thing that's hard about us is
it can be.
Speaker 4 (07:07):
A handful of kids that go do that job.
Speaker 5 (07:09):
And that's what's really special, group special about this team
and that nobody really cares who does it. It's you know,
I think you listen to like what Hailey Vanlitz has
said in some of her press conferences just recently that
I just loved when she said, it's such a flex
to say you're on a good team like that is
what this group has. Like we have, Yeah, we have
Rgnswortans and who can go off for anything any moment.
Speaker 4 (07:28):
We have Anna who can go off for anything.
Speaker 5 (07:30):
We have Amanda, we have you know, Lexi who can
do all those But to do it on a good team,
to do it with like just an a quality team
that can go play with anybody and to take down
teams and just do it in a variety of ways
is really something special and really again what this program
is all about.
Speaker 1 (07:46):
The guys have played three very different games against Whitewater,
a close win there, blowout win at home, and then
obviously a close loss in the YAC Tournament.
Speaker 3 (07:55):
Is it so? Is it? At this point?
Speaker 1 (07:57):
It's just a hey, we know what they're coming at
us with, we know what we're coming at them with.
Just go out there and execute and play.
Speaker 4 (08:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (08:04):
I mean there's no question marks I think from either
team on what's coming. Like scout was super easy in
terms of we asked our players and we quiz our
players and they're like, cute, coach, you think we don't
know this right now, And that's a beautiful place to
be and for us. Why I talked about that confidence
that came from Saturday against game with Whitman, like that's
what we're looking to do here too, Like we're going
(08:26):
to go into this game with our best product being
our system, our best product being what's gotten us here.
And Whitewater is a phenomenal team. They are used to winning.
That's a part of their traditions, part of their culture,
and that's the thing we have very much made a
part of ours as well. And I think it's going
to be a battle of two good teams that know
each other, that have done this song and dance, And
I think it's going to be a hard, fog game.
(08:46):
We have to focus on the defensive side of the floor.
We have to have the same intensity that we had
last weekend and just being able to lock in the
games that we're closer and the one that we lost,
our defense was not where it needed to be, and
and honestly, just at locking was kind of got a
little lax of days ago, if you will. But I
think right now it's we seem very locked and ready
(09:07):
and poisoned and ready to go. And I think it's
been nice to like having been here before, and that's
the thing that Whitewater's been to the Installed Tournament however
many times, and now having been here back to back,
I do think it takes some of the like you
almost got more of that head not from our girls,
rather than like, oh my gosh, this is so cool.
It's like, Okay, here we are, let's go to work.
Speaker 1 (09:25):
We're gonna look forward to it's gonna be a lot
of fun. And we appreciate you taking the time with
us and hopefully we're chatting tomorrow again.
Speaker 3 (09:30):
Appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (09:31):
Yeah, thanks Pete, it's Haanna Ivererson. We'll have more and
we come back here.

Now back to the NCAA Tournament right here on News
Talk wme EQ.
Speaker 1 (10:42):
Hey, welcome back, Dan, here to Scranton, Pennsylvania, as we
get set for Stout versus Whitewater Sweet sixteen bid to
the elite eight on the line here tonight in the
Sweet sixteen round of the NCAA Tournament. Pikadooso with you again.
Dan Price back in studio. We are almost ready for
the national anthem here. We will go over the starting
lineup right after the natalanthem there, mister Price, so we'll
do a little bit of an audible, but we should
(11:03):
be good to go, as they started the clock a
little bit early on us. As both the fan base
is making some noise. It's gonna be a really interesting
environment tonight, which is worth talking about. Let me say
this quickly, and I know we're gonna probably play a
little bit of Homerness here today with a stout, but
Stout dwarfs the Whitewater parent slash student section or cheering section.
(11:24):
I'd say two to one. I mean it's not even double,
it's more than that. As you can hear the Blue
Devils fans making some noise, you'll hear white Water in
a second. But I can count on one hand how
many Whitewater fans are here. They might have more cheerleaders
here than fans that they have as well. Now interestingly enough,
Scranton going on to spring break this week, so we
don't know how many locals are going to be here,
which is interesting as well. But let's listen into the
(11:45):
national anthem and then we'll get to the starting lineups
here tonight. So there are the starting lineups here from
(13:06):
the John Long Center on the University of Scranton campus
here in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Again, she'll be a fun one
here tonight. We'll go over to the starting lineups to
start with the Blue Devils. Senior Sam Schaeffer from DeForest
will start at the point guard position. Amanda Geese will
start alongside her five eleven senior from New Prong, Minnesota.
It is Reagan Sorens and the All American senior from
(13:26):
Unity at five foot seven, who will start as well.
Anna Much, the fourth starter five foot eight senior from
Apple Valley set a career high against Whitman a last
Saturday of thirty one points. And Lexi Wagner, the D
one transfer from Galesville, the grad student Stout will start
as well here for the Blue Devils for Hannah Iverson
in her seventh season one ten and sixty one at
(13:47):
the helm of Stout in seven years. Harry Carlo is
the head coach of Whitewater for sixty three and one
seventy eight in her time as the Warhawk's head coach,
so he's starting lineups cook as follows. It is Maggie Trout,
who is five foot eleven, a senior from Sun Prairie
and to Forest, a high school teammate of Sam Shaffer,
who will start for the Warhawks along with Mallory Oliveson,
(14:08):
six foot senior out of Normal, Illinois. She will start
next to Casey corral of the WAYAK player of the Year.
She'll be an All American this year for the first
time as well as she was a preseason All American
this year, and I'll be shocked if she's not on
one of the All American teams when those come out
in a week. She is from white Waterbree McCurdy and
it's a five foot seven sophomore from Strength Corey Falls.
(14:29):
She will start alongside Katie Hildeurant, the senior from McFarland
at six foot two.
Speaker 3 (14:33):
Anna Ford as well.
Speaker 1 (14:35):
All right, we are ready for basketball here between Stout
and Whitewater, almost one thousand miles away from the dairy
Land and from their home state. They get to play
here on the East Coast in Scranton, Pennsylvania, at the
John Lawns Long Center, one of the older buildings that
you would find in the lyak and it's one of
the older I mean, it might be one of the
(14:56):
oldest buildings there on the East Coast. But man, all
these East Coast gyms this level just have a lot,
I mean, they just breathe history, rafters and all that.
We are high atop the John Long Center, and so
this gives you very Cameron Indoor, you know, kind of
rafter vibes of where the ESPN and where the radio
broadcasters sit for that as well. So it's pretty cool
(15:18):
here tonight. Yes, again, both the coaches being introduced, and
like I said, I mean at least two to one
in Stout fans as compared to the Whitewater fans here
this afternoon. Now again they're just going on to spring
break here in Scranton, So how many students and how
many locals come up for that game is going to
be interesting. There's barely anybody here outside of the Whitewater
and the Stout fans. And I was talking to a
(15:39):
few folks before the game and they said, this is
going to probably feel more like a scrimmage than an
NCAA tournament game.
Speaker 3 (15:43):
Especially after last week.
Speaker 1 (15:45):
Stout had the second highest attendance of any of the
first round sites at the at Johnson Fieldhouse. So again
a really really interesting environment here tonight. The Blue Devils
we'll wear the home white uniforms tonight with the blue
stout across the chest and the blue numbers. They move
left or right here in the first half. Whitewater in
the road, purple uniforms UWW in white across the chest
(16:06):
and white numbers and white trim on those jerseys as well.
It is the All American Reagan Storms. And Katie Hilden
had to take the tip. Your officials are Chris Oster, Hout,
Meg Dolman, and Kevin George.
Speaker 3 (16:16):
We are under way.
Speaker 1 (16:17):
Whitewater wins the tipping off we go. This is McCurdy
moving onto the high right wing. Mccurty looking into the posts,
can't find Olifson. She'll try to get it to her,
but it's not there. The defensive pressure turned up. Paul
bounces away almost fulani storns and into the hands of Olafson.
Speaker 3 (16:29):
And now the pass thrown and.
Speaker 1 (16:30):
It's tipped by sorens and out of mounds right in
front of the stout bench on the far sideline tables
side over there, and it will be whitewater ball with
sixteen to shooting six forty four left to play. Here
in the first quarter, mccurty moves left now gets its
trouts on that left side. Troutch was big the one
win that Whitewater had against Stout back in the Wayak tournament.
They go up for a three that is off the
(16:52):
mark and Geeson comes away with the remound missed from McCurdy.
In the Blue Devils habbit, mcurty's wo wanted to watch
from shooting the three. She's thirteenth in the Wayak at
the end of the season. There here's Anna mutch on
a weave. They go to Wagner in the right corner.
Speaker 3 (17:03):
For a three. God let's see.
Speaker 1 (17:05):
Wagner hits the three from the corner and the Blue
Devils off to a hot start. Three nothing here over Whitewater.
Here's Maggie Trouch on the high right. Well good hedge
out there for much to defend, almost gets a steal
highlow inside with olof sin she catches. They double get
a park inside unless tipped out of bounds by Whitewater.
Speaker 3 (17:21):
And snout Ball Uxy.
Speaker 1 (17:24):
Wagner loses her head bands. She might lose it a
few more times tonight, but she doesn't mind. Does the
Blue Devils have a three zip lead? Here fifty six
seconds in Man, they have the basketball's an old wooden
style court with the purple and white Scranton logos and colors.
Here gives you a very white water vibe to his
(17:46):
soorns and spins in the lane. Goes out to Anna
Munch on the left wing. Now back up top to Wagner.
Around to the right wing the geese and Geeson floats
it out to much much from the top of the key.
Look to drive. Now picks up the dribble, needs help.
Goes inside the Swords and at the left block, she
goes up off the window. It's not there. Trout boxes
out beautifully and Hildebrant gets the rebound. Hildebrant up to Corralo.
Corralo on the left wing. Mccurty wanted a three. Couldn't
(18:06):
pull the trigger. Here's Hildebrant uptop loves it right wing
over to Corralo now on the Trout's in the right corner.
Trouts looking to post up hilde Rant inside. They can't
find her. Now they go to Olipson at the elbow.
Olipson on the high left of McCurdy. She steps into
a three two strong. Hildebrant touched it last, No, I
didn't go out of bounds, and Geeson tracks down the
board in the corner.
Speaker 3 (18:24):
Her shape are quickly in the fore court up to Wagner.
Speaker 1 (18:26):
Oh ball fake from three step back on the way
short rebound sorens and Sorenson throws it out to Wagner,
but it's tipped by Hildebrant, has stolen away by Corlo.
Corralo into the front court one on one with geeseon
ball fake there to Hildebrand in the lane, grabs it
and it's poked away and it's last touched by white
water stout basketball. And there'll be no h correction from
(18:46):
the officials, so farther, letting them play. And that's what
you like to see here. Again, this is a physical
lead league. I was interested to see how these officials
here from the East Coast would respond to the physicality.
You're gonna see this afternoon slash evening is. Here's Sorenson
driving to the hoop. They cut her off the hedge though.
They go out to Wagner for a three from the
top that's way short. Conson with the offensive board turn around,
(19:07):
fucking side by Trouts and trout as it here for Whitewater,
Paralo ahead, Prala twickt speed across the timeline, moves it
on the high wine and left side. Much Defense gets
a screen on her. Gison switches out at the top
of the key corlo in toward the hoop. Much goes
for a block.
Speaker 3 (19:21):
Not there.
Speaker 1 (19:22):
They tip it back, still tipping about, and it will
be Whitewater basketball on the baseline with seven twenty seven
left to go. Here in the first three, nothing stout,
nervy start, I think for both sides, as the Blue
Devils have the early lead, and.
Speaker 3 (19:34):
It's Wagner's the only player.
Speaker 1 (19:36):
Other than Sorenson to take some shots, and she's taking
all threes and is one of three so far. Mary
Bird and Rosella Willie checking in for Stout, Sorenson and
Geese and getting a quick rest and also into the game.
Here is Rene ritt Meyer for Whitewater, and again they'll
go ritt Meyer and gill Us off the bench. But
that's it now the one to seven. Here's Paralo at
the free throw line, driving in on shape or what
(19:57):
a block. It's still bouncing around down there, really jump
for it really fell on it rather and there'll be
a tie up right in the lane and they arrow
favors Stout, so Stout will have the ball seven fourteen
to go. First quarter, it's Stout three, Whitewater zip. Whitewater
is zero of five Stouts one of five from the field.
So again a lot of physicality and everybody trying to
(20:17):
figure out where the space is here to get off
a clean shot. Here's Mary Berg, the freshman from a
nomine on the right wing and a foul away from
the ball. He either got Olifson or Hildebrant here. They're
gonna get Olifson for the foul holding on too much.
Who was trying to get open. They'll be out of bounds.
Is Stout on the right baseline in the front court
from the dude twenty seven oh three to go here
in the first quarter Stout three, white Water zero out
(20:39):
sweet sixteen round is here's much from the right baseline.
She'll hit the jumper from twelve feet ahead at five nothing.
Blue doubles six point fifty six to go here in
the quarter, Corralo steps into a three two strong long rebound.
Speaker 3 (20:51):
Hildebrant tipped it out of bounds. At Stout Basketball.
Speaker 1 (20:53):
It should be Oh no, they're giving it to the white
Water oh Man, that was touched by Hildebrant officiald no
idea who touched that last? And I think Meg Dalman
came in there and corrected Kevin George who had just
not seen what was up. Wagner and much. We'll get
a quick rest here as Geeson and Sorenson will check
(21:16):
back in for the Blue Devils. So WILLI and Berg
stay out there. Willy usually plays the five when she's in,
gonna bring the ball board, give it to Berg here
on the right wing, and a foul called on Trouch
is Sorenson was.
Speaker 3 (21:28):
Trying to get open in the lane.
Speaker 1 (21:30):
And now Carrie Carralo is asking for a review thinking
that Sorenson got an elbow up here. But I don't
think they're going to have much on that. She was
being held across the line. Initially they're asking for a
review here and so the officials I don't think are
gonna give it. And now we got a whistle. I
think a question of who that was called on. The
officials did not report that, well, it was on Trouch. Yeah,
(21:56):
they're going to talk about it at the table five
nothing lead here for Stout sixty to go in the
first quarter again. The rest of the Sweet sixteen is
underway this afternoon slash evening as well. Gus Davis and
McMurray each shit thirty one all and they're going to
take a media time out. I wonder if they're going
to review that play. That might be why they're taking
(22:17):
the media time out here as well.
Speaker 3 (22:18):
Six forty two.
Speaker 1 (22:19):

Now back to the NC DOUBLEA Tournament right here on
News Talk wm EQ.
Speaker 1 (23:15):
He welcome back in here to the University of Scranton
and to John Long's the John Long Center. As it
looks like the officials still reviewing here during this media
timeout that last foul. We do not have the beauty
of a monitor that we typically have at Johnson Fieldhouse,
so I can't tell you exactly what they're looking at
on the replay, but my assumption is is that Reagan
(23:36):
Sorenson who was cutting across the lane and got held
up by Maggie Trouch. They called a fowl on Trouch.
McCarry Carlo thought that Sorenson's arm kind of got up high,
and they're probably looking to see if she got an
arm up into the head or neck area, maybe upgrade
her to a flagrant one. I can't imagine they white
bought the Trouch file, but maybe they add a flagrant
(23:58):
one here to Reagan Sorenson. We will have to see
what the call is as they talk about this.
Speaker 3 (24:03):
This is I believe both Chris oster.
Speaker 1 (24:07):
House and Oster Howard excuse me and Megdalman, who are
at the monitor taking a look at this while they
do that, it's out leading five to nothing. The six
forty two left to play here in the first quarter
gas Davis and McMurray. In the Sweet sixteen, that game
being played at Bowden, which is in Maine, is thirty
one thirty one at halftime. NYU only up seven on
(24:29):
sunny Jennieso with is four point thirty left to play
in the third quarter. There NYU the overall number one seed.
No other games are underway other than this one and
those other two. The rest happened later tonight. Again, uw
Oshkosh is in action later this evening down at Ohio Wesleyan.
They'll be taking on Illinois Wesleyan. There Baldon Wallace taking
(24:50):
on Ohio Wesleyan in the Sweet sixteen. This is a
long review and still talking about. I can't imagine the
longer they talk. I can't imagine they're going to find anything.
They haven't found anything now, but I've been wrong before,
so they'll continue to talk.
Speaker 3 (25:04):
Here.
Speaker 1 (25:04):
Stout leading five nothing, it should be stout ball out
of bounds, we assume unless anything else gets added. Here
stout two of six from the field, and I much
with a two point j and Lexi Wagner with a
three and so far Whitewater o six to start the game.
And let's see if we get an announcement here as
to what the call is going to be. You know,
(25:25):
what this does is just kills any kind of early
momentum that Stout has. And I don't know if Kerry
Carlo asked for it again. That is the one negative
of kind of being up top is we're not going
to get an explanation from the officials up here. They're
bringing both coaches together, which I can't imagine is good
for Stout. Carry Corralo's not coming over. I'm imagining they're
(25:46):
giving a foul here to Reagan sorens And if this
is how they're talking about it, Carry Corralo's not coming
to the mid court line even though they ask for
both coaches. So Stout's gonna get the ball. You know,
they're gonna give it to Whitewater.
Speaker 3 (25:59):
What is going on here?
Speaker 1 (26:02):
So it's Whitewater ball, but they're not shooting free throws.
That's the University of Wisconsin Whitewater cheerleaders. So are they
just switching the foul call from troutch to Sorensen?
Speaker 11 (26:18):
All right.
Speaker 1 (26:18):
The direction is the foul is on Wisconsin South number
fourteen breakings and her first team. All right, so you
just heard the announcement. So they just basically reversed the
foul call. I didn't think you could do on a review.
I thought you could add a flagrant one. But now,
(26:39):
why are they not gonna let Anna Much check in here?
Why are they not letting Anna Much check in?
Speaker 3 (26:47):
Wow?
Speaker 1 (26:47):
Okay, so Ana Much wants to check into the game.
They won't let her for some reason. Okay, here we.
Speaker 3 (26:52):
Go five nothing soud.
Speaker 1 (26:53):
I don't know who's that's gonna light a fire under
Sorenson called for her first. That could be very big
in this game. Here's rittmeyerper Water and a pass into
the post, and they're gonna get a willy fowl. Here
is Olufsen who's trying to get the pass in the
posts and a mutch. Now we'll get to check in. Yeah,
they'll get Sorenson out with that one foul. I want
to save her for a bit second. So you've got Schaffer, Giesenberg,
(27:15):
Willie and Much the five on the floor for stout.
Britt Meyron inbound from the baseline Corala with a two
point j and she'll drain it. And that's the first
bucket of the game for white Water five to two
stout six twenty seven to.
Speaker 3 (27:26):
Go here in the first quarter.
Speaker 1 (27:26):
Oh, I want to catch my na. Much in transition,
hands it off to Berg, tries to kick it out.
Shafer at the top of the key, dribbles into Mary
Berg takes a bump, no call, but she knocks it
in with the left hand, and it's seven to two stout,
six fifteen to go here.
Speaker 12 (27:39):
First quarter.
Speaker 1 (27:40):
And and a Much almost with the steel trouts gets
it on the right wing, drives in, kicks it back
out to Corrala at the top. Corlo guarded by Sam
Shaffer over on the right now for Olokson. Olison in
the post to Hildonan at the pre throw line. She
looks to play quarterback there, turns wants to go to
the hoop.
Speaker 3 (27:54):
Oh. She gets past Willy, lost the.
Speaker 1 (27:56):
Basketball and miss the shot and Schafer has the rebound.
Shafer stops across the timeline, finds Geeson on the left wing.
Geeson hands out to Much at the top of the key.
Much looks right, She'll go to Schaffer on the wing,
back across to to Geeson rather not a shaffer up
top to Berg around to much much on the left
side much.
Speaker 3 (28:15):
Looking into the lane.
Speaker 1 (28:17):
Can't find anybody much takes some big contact scoop layup.
Speaker 3 (28:20):
It's not there.
Speaker 1 (28:21):
Willie comes in and she gets called for a foul,
and Willy's gonna have to come out of there because
that's her second foul. And we will get a horn
here with five thirty one left to play in the
first quarter, and they will.
Speaker 3 (28:32):
Get me A.
Speaker 1 (28:32):
Gillis into the game for the first time here. Alyssa
loder Myers also gonna check in for Rosella.
Speaker 3 (28:37):
Willie.
Speaker 1 (28:41):
We'll see loder Meyer for the first time tonight. Senior
from good Hue, Minnesota. Loder Meyer, Berg, Geeson, Wagner and
much the five on the floor for Stout. Five point
twenty three to go here in the first quarter. Stout
seven Whitewater two trouts, dribbled off her foot, got it
back and she'll go over to Gillis here on the
left wing. Gillis looking for somebody to flash with the hoop.
(29:02):
It'll be Corralo. Corralo now weaving up top behind the
back dribble. Thought about a step back three didn't take it.
Here's hildebrand at the free throw line. Corlo trying to
get open inside. Great denial hereby loder Meyer. Three on
the way from troutchats off the side. No, somebody gotta
grab the board. It's Geeson. Geson has it here for Stout.
This is loner Meyer across the timeline. Wagner up top,
around left side to berg Berg switches it back to
(29:23):
Wagner on the right wing, guarded by Hildebrant.
Speaker 3 (29:26):
This is a mismatch here.
Speaker 1 (29:27):
She's gonna drive in, picks it up, pulls back out
too much at the top of the key.
Speaker 3 (29:30):
Fourteen to shoot.
Speaker 1 (29:34):
Loder Meyer now off top to much again, only seven
to shoot much to the corner. Gotta get rid of it. Here,
pass is deflected, grabbed by Wagoner. Only two to shoot.
Gotta get a shot off wild three on the way,
didn't hit the rim.
Speaker 3 (29:45):
It's a shot block violation.
Speaker 1 (29:47):
And his white Water basketball four thirty one left to
go first quarter South seven, Whitewater two. So a little
bit of confusion there at the beginning on what was
going on with that foul change. And you see how
long Regan storms and sits on the bench. He is
itching at the bit to get back out on the court.
You can tell here's troutch between the circles trying to
(30:08):
pass it to the post. You'll get it high up
top to Hildebrand who had to come and get the pass.
Hildebrant then loses a pass trying to get it to
Carla Carlo driving in on, Wagner got passed. Everybody layup
goes and I got the right switch there to Whitewater
and Wagner could not defend that first step from Coralo.
And if they can get that switch all night, they'll
be in good shape.
Speaker 3 (30:27):
Seven to four.
Speaker 1 (30:28):
Stout leads Geeson at the top of the key, drives
toward the hoop. Hilda Brant great defense there, it's out
of bounds. Two Whitewaters. Geeson took a lot of contact
and couldn't get a foul call. Whistles are letting them
go here tonight, which I think in the end is
a good thing for Stout. But see how this all
works out. Coralo across the timeline here seven to four.
(30:51):
Stout early going here from Scranton three forty four to go,
first quarter. Hildebrand at the top of the key looking
in towards Troutch moving across the lane.
Speaker 3 (30:59):
They go out to corral a long three on the
rate from the wing. It's short.
Speaker 1 (31:02):
Wagner tips it into the hands of Much Much has
the rebounds. She's gonna try to push the pace much
across the time.
Speaker 3 (31:06):
I much.
Speaker 1 (31:07):
You gonna take a coast to coast a block inside
grand By Hill, the ramp for white Water on a
block and no foul call. Here comes Rittenier the other way.
Rittmyer in on Wagner. Rittmeyer stops good, just stop there.
Trouts down in the corner on the pass. Oh, she
stepped out of Hounds, Yes she did. Stout basketball did
it twice before the official finally saw it.
Speaker 3 (31:27):
Three nineteen to go.
Speaker 6 (31:28):
Oh.
Speaker 1 (31:28):
Here in the first Sam Schaeffer back in for the
Blue Devils, so to replace Alyssa Lodermeyer. Loder Meyer a
good couple minutes there after, Rosella Willie picked up her
second foul. Three fouls on Stout, one on Whitewater. Here
in the first quarter, seven to four blue doubles. Blue
doubles just three of ten from the field, white Water
two of eleven. It's here two of the better field
goals shooting teams in all the nation as well, but
(31:49):
they're struggling so far much looking into the lane, can't
find Wagner goes up top to Geese and instead, oh
bad pass. Corralo stepped in front of it, trying to
find shapeer. Corralo, using the speed, gets past everybody and
gets the lay up the other way.
Speaker 3 (32:00):
Seven to six.
Speaker 1 (32:02):
Stout leads and Corralo has all six points. They got
to stop Carlo. Stop Corralo. I think you win this game.
Speaker 3 (32:06):
I really do this.
Speaker 1 (32:08):
Here's Mary Berger the top. She's gonna step into a three.
It is in and out rebound Hildebrant. I think it's
the right shots a shot Stout want and she just
missed it barely. Rip Meyer across the timeline trying to
post up. Gillis inside Hildebrant high low with Gilli, she.
Speaker 3 (32:21):
Catches lay up. We'll go and it's white Water up
in front.
Speaker 1 (32:24):
Eight to seven, a six nothing lead or six nothing
around rather for white Water. They lead eight to seven
and Stout takes the time out. Two thirty two left
to go first quarter timeout Blue Devils and they will
go to the bench. So we'll take thirty second stand
take thirty second, No wait, thirty second time out, never
mind officials telling everybody to stand back up, because it's
(32:44):
a thirty second time out, all right. That gives us
of a chance to catch our breath. I don't know
what it is man riding a plane or whatnot. I
get that dry throat going real quickly, so you know,
just running solo up here, so we'll make it work.
But nonetheless, I'll good start first Stout and now Whitewater
with the answer this is, this has the feeling of
one of those games know each other so well. Again,
(33:08):
this is the fourth time that they have met this season.
This is a basically Rocky versus Dolph Lunger. And if
you will, and that's that would assume that he's met
up with Doulph Lunger in all four movies. But you
get the drift, right, This is a ways into this rivalry,
and Whitewater, I think just kind of knows everything Stout's
gonna do. Stout knows everything Whitewater's gonna do because in
the half court set, neither of these tank teams getting
(33:28):
much space. The points have come in transition for both teams.
That has been where it's been at here tonight so far,
here's Schaeffer moving from the left wing in toward the
right wing and inside the three point line, has to
go out to Wagner out on the right side. Wagner
wants to drive in toward the hoop, collects with the
left hand. No good, good defense there from Rittmeyer. That
is not Stout's game. And then Wagner. That's a really
(33:49):
smart play from Corralo. She stopped the new Wagner was
going to crash into her, and she did, and that's
the first foul on Wagoner. And she turned herround and
immediately yelled toward her bench man, carl Is. She's one
of those players you love to play with and you
absolutely hate to play against. And now Cornala with a basketball,
Whitewater up eight seven, two ten left to play here
(34:12):
in the first quarter, so lots of time left in
this game, but both teams figuring out what's gonna work tonight.
And now Anna much gets calling for a foul and
that's another Carlo literally with a big smile on her
face afterwards, she knows, she knows that she just got
away with one here and that's gonna send Kerala to
the line. I mean, she is right now, she has
made the officials buy into what she's selling, and that
(34:35):
is on Anna Mutch and the fifth fall on Stout
in the quarter. So just like that, Coralo is going
to head to the line here to shoot best free
throw shooter in the conference. I think they marked a
foul on Whitewater on the scoreboard. I think they're still
trying to figure out who's what spawn on the scoreboard here,
But it is only one team foul on Stout and
five on or Farm me five on Stout, one on Whitewater.
(34:57):
First free throw goes for Corlo nine to seven leads,
and she has all the points I should say, all
but two of the points here for the Warhawks. She
makes a second, it is ten to seven. Whitewater leads
it Anna Much across the timeline on the left wing.
I want to force a shot here. You'd like to
see a real high presented shot from the Blue Devils
wagoner on the right side. Here's a foul on Gillis
away from the ball as Anna Much was being held
(35:18):
across the lane. They've tried to call that three times,
They've only stuck with it twice. After that weird reversal
we saw on the media, timeout. Sam Shaffer here on
the baseline, looks to inbound. Shaffer still looking, goes to
Much in the corner, trying to say she was stepping
out of bound. She's gonna drive instead took contact from behind.
Gillis just picked up her second foul, and Ana Much
(35:38):
is gonna head in the line for two. Harry Carrallo
right in the air. The officials again and not liking
it as is.
Speaker 3 (35:49):
Typical, and I mean, you get sweet sixteen.
Speaker 1 (35:51):
Both coaches are going to be in the end of
the officials, no doubt about that. It's going to be
part of this is Gillis is gonna check out and
it comes Ollison to kill us with two. They didn't
mark it on her up on the board. I mean,
I think they're all off on the scoreboard up there.
But it is her second foul, first free throw. Random
Much is good again. Thirty one points for Stout for
(36:12):
Randa Much against Whitman. She makes her third point there
with that free throw on the season of seventy one
percent free throw shooter, which is right on where the
Blue Doubles were seventy two percent as a team, and
she will make the second ten to nine Whitewater leagues
one forty eight to go here in the first quarter.
Who is going to go on the first big run
(36:34):
of this game? That is the question. Olafson at the top,
moving around left side out of McCurdy, McCurdy garter by
Wagner trying to drive spins Geeson hedged out on her nicely.
Hildebrant gonna try to drive on Geeson, great job cutting
her off. Boh, she just threw it up wildly and
Geseon grabs it away. Poked away but not fully away
from Geeseon, and she picks it back up, gets some
pressure from behind from Hildebrant, who tips it out of
(36:54):
bound style basketball. Had some nice effort from Hildebrant. After
losing the ball on the other end, Stout has it
on the sideline, down by one with one twenty.
Speaker 3 (37:02):
Two to go here in the first quarter.
Speaker 1 (37:06):
Maggie Troutch will check back in as McCurdy will come
to the bench eight for Corralo. She leads Away Much
with four, Wagner with three, Berg with two, and bouncer
goes to.
Speaker 3 (37:19):
Anna Much.
Speaker 1 (37:21):
Anna Much moves it to Mary berg Off on the
right side, right wing, looking inside toward Much not there
go to Shaeffer, now around to Geeson on the left wing.
Eeson bounces into Wagner, turn around two point j rattles
in another short corner jumper and Stout leads eleven to
ten once they find when they find some space in
the half court offense, they're looking really good. Layoff here
on the right side to Olafson, kick it out for
(37:42):
a Trouts three. That's way too short and Amanda Geeson
has the rebound for the Blue Doubles or Sam Shaffer
up one with fifty seconds left here in the quarter,
Wagner trailing the play that's too strong and the rebound
for Corraalo. See if they try to push for a
two for one, don't think they're gonna have enough time.
Forty seconds left in the quarter. Hilo inside, he'll ret
catches it out and poked away. What a saint by
berb but you seemed direct to Hildebrant bow she missed
(38:03):
the bunny layup rebound inside for Rittmeyer to put back,
no good rebound. Wagner and the Blue Devils have it back.
With a one second differential between game and Shockbox. Chafer
gotta get it across the timeline here you gotta go.
She will get it across with one second to spare,
eleven to ten.
Speaker 3 (38:19):
Stout.
Speaker 1 (38:20):
This is not the prettiest of basketball so far, but
you kind of had a feeling like that was gonna
be the case here tonight.
Speaker 3 (38:27):
Tend to shoot.
Speaker 1 (38:28):
Shaeffer just dribbling out near the timeline, hands off to
Much on the left wing. Much gets a screen from
from Geese and rather now she's gonna go. Takes a
two point jumper.
Speaker 12 (38:35):
Top shot and it goes.
Speaker 1 (38:37):
She got hacked one of the foul didn't get the call,
but that will do it for the end of the
first quarter. Want a shot from Anna Munch just inside
the three point line. She heads it's thirteen to ten
Blue Devils at the end of one. We'll cut back
with a second quarter right after this. Here on You're
home for Blue Devils basketball. This is the NZ Double

Now back to the NCAA Tournament right here on News
Talk wme EQ.
Speaker 1 (39:42):
Welcome back in here to the John Long Center on
the campus of the University of Wisconsin or Wisconsin the
University of Scranton. I put Scranton in Wisconsin all of
a sudden nothing the last.
Speaker 3 (39:52):
We are here.
Speaker 1 (39:53):
We're happy to have you along with us here on
News wm EQ. Happy to bring in the sweet sixteen
of the Division three NCAA Tournament and the Blue Devils
leading thirteen to ten at the end of one the whistle,
Lodermeyer Riggan Sorenson announced. I think just that they were
(40:13):
coming into the game. But they're not gonna let loder
Meyer in because she was too late to getting to
the table. But all is well, it looks like it
gonna be Shaeffer, Sorensen, Berg, Geeson, and Wagner the five
on the floor for Stout Stout five to fifteen. In
that first quarter, Whitewater four of sixteen Blu doubles were
one of five from beyond the arc. The Whitewater oero
of six from beyond the arc. As flashing to the hoop.
(40:35):
There was Olufsen, but they couldn't find her on the
pass and said Carlo high right now high left to
McCurdy at the elbow of the three throw line, jumper
is no good, sorens and skies for the rebound on
the mist from Olofson. Sorensen back in there with one
foul across the timeline. She comes to the top of
the key to Geese and Geeson trying to weave in.
They tried to set up a screen for her, but
it wasn't there. Now Berg out on the right wing.
Berg looks in toward the lane trying to find Sorenson.
(40:58):
Trouts cuts her off and what passed the backfeed there
to Shafer, It goes over top of Hildebrand fifteen to
ten stout. What a play the other way, McCurdy thought
about a pull up three In transition they enter it
inside to Olifson. Olifson guarded by Wagner in the short
side she'll go over on the line left wing to
corrala poked away but right in the hands of Hildebrant.
(41:18):
Corral then tried to post up on Shafer and now
McCurdy has it thirteen to shoot. McCurdy had a poke
for a moment, Berg can't stay with her turn around
in the lane, will go and Berg kind of lost her.
Speaker 3 (41:26):
Footing there and the bucket falls.
Speaker 1 (41:28):
Fifteen to twelve stout under nine left to go here
in quarter number two, Gieson off on the right wing.
As Berg tries to get open away from the ball,
she will at the top off on the left out
of Shaper. Shaeffer to geeseon up top. She steps into
a three on the way too strong off the heel
rebound Corlo Corralo has it here for Whitewater. She'll push
(41:51):
the pace eight thirty five to go. In the second
fifteen to twelve blue dubbs Olafson from the top of
the key around a trout to the left side, McCurdy
in the left corner, mccurty looking to pass it in.
She'll go to Hildebrant up top. Hilararent switch switches it
across the trouts and a foul call away from the ball,
and who are they gonna get here? Olofson, I think
Olofson for a big push on Wagner off the ball,
(42:15):
and Oliveson called for her second and again. This Whitewater
team runs seven deep, so you get anybody into two
fowls and all of a sudden you're kind of did
the short bench. I've got a lot of players who travel,
but not a lot who are gonna play. It's all
right now in an eight person rotation, they can very
easily go to ten to eleven if they want. Lodermeyer
on the right wing. Lodermeyer thinking about driving and still
(42:36):
should go to Willy uptop Willie oh enters it in
beautifully to Sorens and triple team to Lodermeyer. Willie trying
to find the pass, can't find it.
Speaker 3 (42:43):
Top of the key for her.
Speaker 1 (42:44):
She'll dribble right hands off the soorns and Hildebrant cuts
her off. She tries to get around her, takes a bump,
no call. She can't get it back and Corralo has it.
Who has a big bump from Hildebrant fifteen to twelve,
stout seven to fifty five to go. Second quarter. Corralo
has had a foot on the line. It rolls off
on the shot. Kind of challenger to shoot. Not sure
that's the player you want to challenge. She misses though.
Shaeffer the other way hesitates, goes up. No call again,
(43:07):
has Corlo stayed straight up? Here's Rittmeyer the other way?
Rittmeyer guarded by Lodermeyer. She traveled, traveled in the front court.
Everybody just too sped up and too kind of out
of control right now, Sere you'd like to see if
you're Whitewater Corralo, if you're Stout, one of the foreheaded
monster to kind of take over this game a bit
(43:28):
stet kind of running through their rotation. So you got Sorenson, Willie, Wagner, Lodermeyer,
and much out there for the Blue Devils. Seven thirty
three left to play here in the second quarter, Stout
by three. Sorenson at the top of the key, trying
to drive on Trout spins O. Hilla Brandt there got
the block. Now she can't swift that want to play
from Reagan Sorenson would not be denied as she kisses
(43:50):
it off the glass. Seventeen to twelve. Corlo gets past
Willie the up and under with the left hand. It
falls want to move there from CORALO seventeen fourteen Stout
seven O eight to go here. In the second quarter,
Annam much across the timeline looking up on the high
right side, should find Wagner at the top hand in
(44:10):
her face. For McCurdy, she'll switch it over to Storts
and ball fake from three drives hangs.
Speaker 3 (44:14):
Pops misses off the heel.
Speaker 1 (44:15):
No good omember the outstretch charms of ritt Meyer and
the rebound for Hildebrant. Here comes troutch the other way
for the Warhawks. Off to McCurdy on the right wing
Stout by three. Trout in the right corner now drives baseline.
Wagner cuts her off, skipping across the CORRALO Paul fake
from three Lodermyer recovered nicely. Hilda Rant now in the
lane almost travel goes up with the right hand. No
but to powl on Willie and that's her third. Hilda
(44:39):
Rant very close to traveling before that play, but al
Willie has picked up her third, and Stout's got some
foul trouble and they're gonna have to either go to
Madison Malika or Allison Lencher. Somebody like that off the
bench here. If they're getting any more foul trouble, they're
gonna roll with the rotation than got at the moment.
Wagner gonna check out Shaffer as well. So you've got
(44:59):
much Sorenson, Bird, Lodermeyer and geeseon is that free throw
way short from Hill to run a sixty six percent
free throw shooter? Six thirty seven left to play here
in the second Stout seventeen Whitewater fourteen, and you got
the case. Two teams that have just seen each other
too much as season, I think is what's happened so far.
Makes the second and this has a feeling of a
game that's going to be played in the fifties, maybe
(45:23):
the sixties, which does not favor Stout. When they score
over seventy points, they've only lost once in that situation.
Here's Sorenson to the right side, how off to Much
on the left wing Much looking in. She'll go to
Berg between the circles, loos it across on the right
to Sorns into the free throw line. Hand off to
much Much gets a screen from Sorenson, takes the two
misses too strong swords. I'm gonna get the rebound here
(45:45):
for Stout. She goes up and it will not fall
as Coralo gets the rebound, but Curdy you giving her
the business. Seventeen to fifteen Stout, six minutes left to
go second quarter, Blue Devils just cold from the field
here to start this game. Troutch up to McCurdy skipping
across left side to rit Meyer. Ritmyer trying to drive
in much is there the left hand rolls off, tips
out and it's grabbed by who Sorenson will get to
(46:07):
it never had possession and out she gets at the
Berg Berg to much much the other way, Much from
the left wing Much hands off to Geesen Geson from
the left wing, looking to drive.
Speaker 3 (46:15):
Geeson moves to the top of the key, off for
Berg on the right wing. Berg weaving into the.
Speaker 1 (46:20):
Lane, takes the two high in the air, misses it
off the glass rebound Ritmeyer boy. Both teams just cannot
find the range right now. Seventeen fifteen Stout Palo is
fouled by Mary Berg at the top of the key
on a drive.
Speaker 3 (46:36):
First foul on Berg.
Speaker 1 (46:38):
With five point twenty four left to play in the
second quarter, Schaefer and Weggner back.
Speaker 3 (46:45):
In for the blue doubles.
Speaker 1 (46:46):
So it is the starters out there or Stout, and
it's all the starters for Whitewater minus with Ritmeyer instead
of Olufsen, who's got those two fouls. Anna much up
in the face of McCurdy, goes into hilde Ran at
the right elbow, hands off to Corralo. Ball fake from two,
step back, take a three. That's way short, way way short,
(47:07):
tipped out of there, and it's last touched by Whitewater.
It's stole basketball seventeen fifteen, Stout five ten to go
here in the second Stell wants to go quickly here
Stout seven of twenty five at Whitewater six to twenty one,
both team shooting twenty eight percent when both shoot over
forty three percent from the field on the season. Stout
forty six percent on the season is fifth in the country.
(47:29):
They go inside to Sorens and she catches up and
over ritt Meyron. She scores nineteen fifteen Blue Devils. The
other way, Trouch had some space backs it back out
on the right wing. They go up top to McCurdy.
She was wide open from three and she hesitated, didn't
take it. Troutch off on the right wing, drives on
geeze and gets past her hangs and fires and rattles it.
(47:49):
In nineteen seventeen, Stout up the other way, much from
the right wing, much up top to geese and geese
and steps into a three on the way that's off
the side. No whole bodies go crashing, a fall on water,
a fou on trout is soaring, someone's going for the remound.
Kerry Carral right up in the face of Megdalman hates
(48:11):
the ball. It's blue devil basketball, and it will be
blue devil basketball when we come back from the time out.
Nineteen seventeen, Stout with the lead four twenty six to go,
second quarter. We'll be back right after this. Here on
you're home for blue double basketball.

Now back to the NC DOUBLEA tournament right here on
news Talk wm eq.
Speaker 1 (49:16):
He welcome back to Scranton, Pennsylvania, nineteen seventeen. Lead first
out here over Whitewater, four twenty six left to play
in this.
Speaker 3 (49:24):
Second quarter. Peaks to Windam Price.
Speaker 1 (49:26):
Back in studio, we hit the six hour a six
o'clock hour, a newstack wmq AMA eighty Nomini translator W
two nine two E G one O six point three
FMO player and iHeartRadio station.
Speaker 3 (49:37):
Blue Doubles shooting.
Speaker 1 (49:38):
Twenty nine percent, eight of twenty seven from the field,
one of seven from beyond the arc, seven of twenty
three for Whitewater, ten for Coalo and they are oh
of seven from beyond the arc. So neither team has
really found the shooting touch here this afternoon. So far,
I can tell you that Anna much has six points
so far she leads a scoring for the Blue Doubles.
Speaker 3 (49:58):
No six points.
Speaker 1 (49:59):
I don't have up to fourth all time on the
scoring list for the Blue Doubles, as she passes Kelsey
Duas for fourth all time as much receives the inbounds
passed go to Reagan Sorens and help defense. They're coming
to get it out to much much driving into the lane,
gets past everybody's scoop. Play up, it rolls off Reagan
Sorenson with a footback, No on Trouts.
Speaker 3 (50:17):
What a play?
Speaker 1 (50:17):
What a play from Regan Sorenson. Trout's boxing out and
Reagan Sorenson said, I don't care. I'm grabbing a rebound carry.
Karala just got told to sit down as troutch just
got called for her second and Trout is still explaining
it to the officials in a pretty animated way. And
she's lucky not to pick up anything extra there. Sorenson
(50:40):
at the line with Stout up two. It's good twenty
to seventeen, Blue Devils four or fifteen to go here
in the second quarter. Second for Sorenson, good as well.
Blue Devils hit him both. They're gonna get Mary Berg
gonna list the Lodermeyer back in there is Sorenson. It's
the rest and Anna Mutch also gonna come out as
(51:02):
well twenty one to seventeen Blue Doubles again. The Blue
Doubles won by twenty seven against Whitewater about a month
ago at Johnson field House, but it was a six
point win for Whitewater in the conference tournament. Part of
their nine game winning streak there on is they go
into Hildebrant, she catches shaper defense, goes up with the right.
Speaker 3 (51:20):
Hand and it rattles.
Speaker 1 (51:21):
In twenty one nineteen Hildearrant caught that way too deep
in the lane for Stout to have any really good
chance to defend it. Loder Meyer now here in the
front court Stout by two, Geeson up top Geson puts
it on the deck. Bad pass, stolen away, bad passing.
It's stili by Rittmeyer. Ritt Meyer's got a couple of
players with their left handed scoop plaoff, falls off, Wagner
tips it out, put into the hands of McCurdy. McCurdy
not a Hildebrant. Corralo up top Corlo guarded by loder Meyer.
(51:44):
They switch it to Trout on the left wing, three
thirty five to go, second quarter, south by two. McCurdy
on the right wing for three and the lead. No
good and the redou on for Wagner and Stout. Wagner's
got it and her pass is tipped and grabbed by Corralo.
Nos he threw it back in and now mccurtys Berg
almost gets the seal. Then Corralo moving in with the
right hand past. Everybody were tied twenty one. All Man
(52:06):
just out of control and Stout just couldn't get the
ball to bounce their way that time. Twenty one all
here we go.
Speaker 3 (52:14):
Three oh six to go.
Speaker 1 (52:16):
Here in the second inside to Lodermeyer down near the
left block into the lane, spin move scoop play up
left hand.
Speaker 3 (52:23):
It falls off and Hildemeier.
Speaker 1 (52:24):
Gets the rebound hill the brand excuse me, Hildebrant bad
pass in the front court into the bench of Stout
and it'll be Stout basketball as she was trying to
find rittmeyron transition.
Speaker 3 (52:33):
I think both teams have.
Speaker 1 (52:34):
Found that both sides are struggling to score in the
half court offense. So it's the it's the junk plays,
it's the steals, it's the fast breaks that are the
only real, you know, you should say, a concrete way
to score in this game. So far, Stout's had much
better luck, I think in the half court offense than
(52:55):
Whitewater has. Here's much from the left elbow, much hesitates,
drives in on Trouch and she'll go up and she
traveled travel, say the officials, and it will be Whitewater basketball.
With two forty one left to go in the second,
tied at twenty one. Remember Stout got to the Sweet
sixteen last year. They played the defending national runners up, Transylvania,
(53:17):
and they're up by six at halftime and ended up
losing sixty three fifty eight. So they have seen those
leads of operate, and they've seen an early lead of
aperate tonight. But this is going to be a close
one all night. I get the feeling Rittmeyer on the
left wing, hi low with Hildeorrant, she catches Wagner, gets
over and a file called. I think, I'm it's either
much or Wagner. No, it's Wagner. That's her second with
(53:41):
two twenty four left to go in the second, and
that will likely have coach Iverson get her out of
the game. I'd imagine she's staying in there for the
time being. Sorenson Schaeffer Geesen is all the starters for
Blae Blue Devils.
Speaker 3 (53:52):
Wagner.
Speaker 1 (53:52):
Much that at the line is Hilda Rant. She's one
of two in this game, and the first free throw
is well short. Twenty one all two, twenty four left
to go. Second quarter. This has been a physical game
so far. Seven fouls called on Stout overall, six on Whitewater,
and the second from Hildebrant is well short as well
in the lane violation here on the Warrocks, So no
(54:14):
good on both free throws and the Blue Devils will
have it. So that's a little bit of a dodge
of the bullet there for Stout. See if they can
take the lead back. Stout's led for eighty two percent
of this game. It's here's Schaeffer across the timeline to
Gieson on the right wing. Geeson looking to go up
top to Wagner.
Speaker 3 (54:30):
It's not there. And now she'll go high low in
with Stores.
Speaker 1 (54:32):
And what a catch on a spin move on Coralo
inside and she'll score it. Twenty three twenty one Stout,
two oh five to go.
Speaker 3 (54:38):
Second quarter.
Speaker 1 (54:39):
Coralo in the front court, ball fake from three back,
it goes to Rittmeyer. Rittmeyer the right wing to Hildebrand
at the free throw line, hands it off to Trouts.
Strouts with a step back, and she traveled, shuffled the
feet and then tried to drive and took an extra step.
Stout with a two point lead in the basketball with
one fifty six to go in the second quarter. Allison
Letcher getting her first moments here for South. The senior
(55:01):
from Wyndham, Minnesota, played in twenty four games last year.
She's close to that and this year a little under
that amount, but she's a three points specialist coming into
the game. Here for Stout Schaeffer across the timeline, it's
Sorenson on the left wing. Can't find Letcher on the pass,
She's gonna dribble it herself instead, go to Wagon Wagoner
at the top of the key, hesitates a little three
(55:23):
from the left wing. No good off the side. She
has not found the range so far. Tonight, Hill to
Brant with the rebound up to corralo. Let your guards
tries to get around her. She will now kicks it
in the right corner. Step back, look like a travel
note call the three falls off. Sorenson gets the rebound
and Curry took like four steps to get set in
the corner and they didn't call it, Soorrenson gonna drive
in and a charge is calling on Sorrenson.
Speaker 3 (55:45):
Her second.
Speaker 1 (55:48):
Britt Meyer was definitely moving, but she apparently had good
guarding position, say the officials. With one twenty to go
in the second quarter, Sorensons picked up her second foul.
There is a bevy of trouble for both teams. You
got Rosello, Willie with three, Wagner and Sornson each with two,
and you've got troutch Olufsen and Gillis all with two.
Speaker 3 (56:08):
For Whitewater.
Speaker 1 (56:11):
It'll be McCurdy to take it across the timeline here
for the Warhawks twenty three to twenty one Stout one
ten to go in the second quarter. This is Rittenmeyer
at the top off on the left wing for mccurty.
McCurdy pounces in the short corner to Hill. The Brant
guardian by Allison Letcher, tries to skip it across.
Speaker 3 (56:25):
In the corner of Corraalo three.
Speaker 1 (56:27):
No, it's an air bowl and it's reebound by Shaper.
Under a minute left to play here in the second quarter,
here comes Shaeffer the other way. Shapeer hands it off
to much much into the lane one on one with
Trout goes up off the window.
Speaker 3 (56:38):
Yes, and she scores it.
Speaker 1 (56:40):
It's twenty five twenty one Stout forty five seconds left
to go here in the quarter of Corralo, dance and
pass everybody.
Speaker 3 (56:45):
She took an extra step, Yes, she did.
Speaker 1 (56:47):
If she traveled turn over to the Blue Devils. Geeson
will check in for Allison Letcher. Now they are rolling
with Wagner there with two fouls, but likely going to
try to put her in the least exploitative defensive matchup
(57:08):
here in these last few seconds, So about a ten
second differential between game and shot clock here at the
end of the half. Stout twenty five, Whitewater twenty one.
It's down on a little four over run. Let's see
if they can extend it here fifteen to shoot Shafer
out near the timeline. Trout's trying to reach in or
on her out there. She'll go to Wagner here at
the top. Wagner for much on the left wing, much
(57:28):
in toward the lane, takes contact, goes up with the.
Speaker 3 (57:30):
Right hand and it rolls in.
Speaker 1 (57:31):
Want to play Fromana Munch twenty seven to twenty one
Blue Doubles. Ten seconds left in the quarter. Across the
timeline comes Rittmeyer. Rittmeyer dancing into the corner coralo.
Speaker 3 (57:40):
They find her.
Speaker 1 (57:40):
Wagner will defend, can't pick up her third till drive
in to the left hand out of control. No, Wagner
tips it to herself. She's got the rebound and the
Blue Devils have a six point lead at.
Speaker 3 (57:49):
Half times.
Speaker 1 (57:52):
Great defense from Wagner lay with two fouls. That is
a big, big play right at the end of the half.
That is a contentious, exciting, physical first half of basketball
between Stout and Whitewater. Going to be a good second
half as well. That was exciting. Hopefully you're enjoying it
as well. We'll try to catch our breaths, make sure
that our hearts are in the same spot and beating
(58:13):
at the correct rate, and get ready for halftime. We
got doing ats the athletic director for the Blue Doubles
on the air. We will have him in two minutes
right after this here on your home for Blue Double basketball.

Now back to the NCUBLEA Tournament right here on News
Talk wm EQ.
Speaker 3 (01:00:40):
It is the NCAA Tournament.
Speaker 1 (01:00:41):
It is the Sweet sixteen Here from the University of Scranton, Scranton, Pennsylvania.
Peacoots and joined now by doing Nazi Athletic director for
the Blue Devils as Stout leeds twenty seven to twenty
one at halftime here on why Water and coach. Good
to have you up here with us, and good to
chat chat a little bit about this squad and kind
of freely do so, because man it is that's a
heck of a heck of a first half.
Speaker 3 (01:01:02):
You're you're sweating, I'm sweating.
Speaker 6 (01:01:04):
I'm finally starting to breathe.
Speaker 12 (01:01:05):
Yeah, good grief.
Speaker 1 (01:01:06):
It is a different level of pressure when you like,
you know, the first weekend is the first weekend, and
maybe because it was home, it feels maybe a little
bit more comfortable.
Speaker 3 (01:01:15):
But it doesn't feel that comfortable here, does it.
Speaker 5 (01:01:17):
No.
Speaker 6 (01:01:17):
I'd like us to be ahead by twenty seven instead
of six. But it's a it's a heck of a
ball game so far. Two opponents I know each other
too well. Like you just mentioned, it's crazy. They all
know where everybody's going to be and how to defend
it and go from there. So it's been interesting.
Speaker 1 (01:01:35):
It's been pretty awesome to see the fans support. Obviously
what the second highest attendance I think in the first
round at any of the sites there last week at
Johnson Field House, you want to talk a little bit
about that, just what the fan support is obviously a
lot here today, but last week heck of a week
for you guys in the program and the university as
a whole.
Speaker 6 (01:01:53):
Yeah, what we try to do is do the best
we can for the student athlete experience. And when you
get the host NCAA tournament like that, you want all
of the participants to take that in and feel special.
And I think our staff and are all the people
who helped us across our campus, you know, the campus
leadership and anybody and everybody that pitched in and helped
(01:02:13):
us put on a great, great show for our for
our participants, all four teams. So it hats off to
everybody who helped us in our campus and the community
of Menominee for they follow this team and they came
out and drove us to watch them play because they're
so fun to.
Speaker 3 (01:02:28):
Watch, they really are. And that's why you see the
droves that are here.
Speaker 1 (01:02:33):
And you know, again we don't I said, we're probably
gonna be a little homery obviously on the broadcast, but
it is no lie that what of stout parents and
fans that are here probably outnumbered the Whitewater fans with
two or three to one that range.
Speaker 12 (01:02:43):
Yeah, at least. Yeah, it's a good group of people
here to support this team.
Speaker 6 (01:02:47):
And I know there's tons and tons of people watching
and listening at home as well listening to your show here.
Speaker 3 (01:02:53):
So this team is just it's hard to talk about it.
They are there, there, there's so much fun.
Speaker 1 (01:03:03):
I know, you guys, you guys played a video for
them before the you know, before they came out here.
Speaker 3 (01:03:08):
That was kind of emotional. The parents made a video
for him.
Speaker 1 (01:03:10):
It's not only the players, but it's the parents, it's
the coaches, and they are just a This is a
it is a special you say a special group, but
I know that that term probably gets overused, but there
really is a special group.
Speaker 12 (01:03:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (01:03:20):
I didn't even talk about it. Terrible crazy, but they
just from the coaches to every player kid on that team,
they just absorb everybody. You know, they suck everybody in
in a good way because there's such such a special
group and the way they represent our campus and our
community and and even our conference. You know, you've got
two great teams here and they both represent the w
(01:03:43):
i A c Is as well as anybody can and
it's it's a heck of a ride as they sit
here crying and sit next to you. I'm a coach man,
you know, the emotions.
Speaker 3 (01:03:53):
Just get you right well.
Speaker 1 (01:03:54):
And I you know, I'm not I'm not trying to
kiss the ring or anything like that, but I'll just
say this is from being with your athletic department.
Speaker 3 (01:04:01):
That's the kind of thing you foster.
Speaker 1 (01:04:03):
You have coaches in this athletic department that try to
make experiences for kids and try to get teams together
like this, and I know it doesn't always mean wins,
but when when you do get wins.
Speaker 3 (01:04:12):
Out of those situations like this women's team, that's what
makes it even more.
Speaker 19 (01:04:15):
Yeah it is.
Speaker 12 (01:04:15):
Yeah, that's the rewarding piece.
Speaker 6 (01:04:17):
And you want that experience for every single student, athlete
and student that attends our institutions, so that that's what
we try to do and doesn't matter what support it is,
from the top of the roster to the to the
last kid at the end of the bench who's helping
that team the best they can. That's what we try
to do and the support of our community has been tremendous.
Speaker 1 (01:04:40):
I'm ready to see you bring that passion back to
flag football coming up.
Speaker 6 (01:04:44):
Yeah, it's gonna be fun. Yeah, I need to get
myself dialed in here a little bit. I own emotional wreck,
but you know, you just I think our girls are
going to go in the locker room and settle down
and come out here. But yeah, the excitement or own
the flag football in adding that to our sports module,
it's it's tremendous, you know. Just in the announcement that
(01:05:07):
came out a couple of weeks ago, we have I've
had parents email me to see if we're gonna do
a camp for the young girls in the community. I've
had you know, potential recruits email me, Hey, can I
come and play football there next year? You know, these
these women that are they're gonna give it a shot
here in the month of April, are so excited to
play a game that they've really never been able to
(01:05:30):
play before.
Speaker 12 (01:05:31):
So and two, it's not pats, but it's still football.
Speaker 6 (01:05:35):
And we've had a couple of workouts so far, and
it's just the learning curve is so fast, like boom
boom boom, and you know, they pick it up and
we're excited. I'm also excited to get a few of
these young women that are playing basketball tonight and join
the squad. That's their season's ends. But let's hope they
come out and we just keep winning each quarter. We're
(01:05:57):
gonna be playing tomorrow night, and that's really what we
got to do today.
Speaker 1 (01:06:00):
Just got to get through the surviving advanced mentality, which
is what you got. You know, you've you've obviously been
it south for a long time and seen a lot
of teams come through and whatnot. That again, you talk
about how this team is different, but you know, there
have been plenty of great teams all whether it's women's team,
basketball teams or others. But as you say, this one
is different, but it kind of harkens back maybe to
those kind of mid two Yeah, absolutely.
Speaker 6 (01:06:20):
You know, it very much reminds me and I was
just as much emotional wreck and then watching that group play,
So you know, it's kind of the kind of the
sport and the team and the kids on the team
and the coaches and the way they go about things
across our campus that just you have to you just
want to be a fan of this group. And we've had,
like you mentioned, teams all over the years that have
(01:06:42):
been like this, you know, and so it's just happened
to be a little bit more engaged in this role,
I guess or something, But I think it's just that
the fact that I've traveled with this team since Wednesday,
and yeah, I feel like their grandfather, which I'm old
to be.
Speaker 3 (01:07:00):
But you know, it's it's fun. Isn't that so much
fun to be shown them?
Speaker 12 (01:07:04):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (01:07:04):
Yeah, yeah, it makes me feel young again.
Speaker 12 (01:07:06):
I guess. There we go.
Speaker 3 (01:07:07):
So that's that's what we're all looking for, that is
for sure.
Speaker 1 (01:07:10):
Again at twenty seven twenty one leaders out here at halftime,
Sweet sixteen winner moves on to tomorrow's the lead eight
against Scranton for Johns Hopkins, well, we appreciate taking some
time with us. We'll let you get down there and
get back into worry mode here as Yeah.
Speaker 12 (01:07:22):
I actually I should just sit up here and talk
on the radio.
Speaker 6 (01:07:25):

Speaker 3 (01:10:24):
It's Stout twenty seven Whitewater twenty one here at half time.
Speaker 1 (01:10:27):
Blue Doubles will have the ball out of halftime as
well as a stout. In that first half, shot thirty
three percent that is thirteen percent under their typical mark
on the season. The Blue Devils are the fifth best
shooting team in the nation at forty six point eight
percent field goal percentage, first in the YAK, and been
(01:10:48):
held to just thirty three percent.
Speaker 3 (01:10:49):
So that's a win for Whitewater.
Speaker 1 (01:10:50):
But Whitewater only nine of thirty in that first half,
and the twenty one points they scored, twelve of them
were Casey Caralo, the rest of the players not really
contributing a ton on the offensive side of the ball.
So that's kind of how things set up here for
the second half and a much ten points Regan Sorenson eight,
let's see Wagner five, Sam Schaeffer to Mary Berg two
(01:11:11):
when the Blue Devils were one of eight from beyond
the arc as well Whitewater zero of ten from beyond
the arc. Twelve points for Casey Carrallo, two points for Trouts,
two for McCurdy, three for hilde Rant, and two for Gillis.
One of the points emphasis for coach j Iverson before
this game is that we were not locked in enough
defensively the last time we played Whitewater, which is why
they won sixty nine to sixty three. If we locked
(01:11:32):
in defensively, we're going to win this game. And they
did that in the first half, limiting Whitewater to just
thirty percent shooting at oh of ten from beyond the arc,
so that was four or fourth the line. Whitewater was
three of six at the line. Stown out rebounded Whitewater
twenty three to twenty in that first half. The turnover
numbers pretty even, seven turnovers for Stout eight for Whitewater
as well. Not a whole lot of disparity really across
(01:11:55):
the board in any of those categories. Now, Whitewater outscored
Stout sixteen to twelve, and the paint second chance points
four to zero in favor of Stout points out the
turnovers eight to six in favor of Whitewaters. Not a
whole lot between everybody from that perspective. Again, Coralo with
the twelve points and much with ten the leading scorers
for both of these teams. Take a look around the
(01:12:16):
w or the NCAA tournament rather again, Stout is in
the bottom right quadrant of the bracket here with Scranton
and Johns Hopkins. Scranton the host university, the number two
overall seed in the tournament. They'll take on Johns Hopkins later.
Scranton in the Landmark Conference and plays a variety of
schools around the area. The farthest trip they have is
(01:12:37):
down to Washington, d C. I play Catholic I believe
there as well. Gas Stavis with a fifty nine to
fifty lead on McMurray. In the upper left quadrant, they
are in Bowden up in Maine. Tonight. MS Stavis whose
Stout loss to earlier this season, is just five twenty
seven away from punching their ticket.
Speaker 3 (01:12:54):
To the Elite eight.
Speaker 1 (01:12:56):
NYU, who was in a battle at halftime, ends up
winning seventy four to d three over Suny Geneseo. Again,
NYU is the overall number one seed as well as
the only other scores I believe. Oh Baldon Wallace is
up twenty six to twenty three with six thirty four
that left in the second against Ohio wesley that quand
rather is in Illinois Wesleyan.
Speaker 3 (01:13:16):
Rather not at Ohio Wesleyan.
Speaker 1 (01:13:18):
As Stout has the ball here to start or they should,
and the officials seem to think this should be Whitewater's
ball because they're coming over to the table to check
it out. Yeah, on the board, it says Stout. On
the table it says Whitewater versus Stout. But apparently it's
Whitewater basketball all right, So it looks like they just
(01:13:41):
didn't switch things correctly at the table. So it's gonna
be Whitewater basketball to start off the half. Okay, it's
not the first little pickup that we've had here tonight.
From a kind of a game management standpoint, there I
think Stout's Stout doesn't believe that should be the case,
but the official seem to agree.
Speaker 3 (01:14:01):
And here we go.
Speaker 1 (01:14:01):
All right, So Whitewater moves left to right in the
purple uniforms here in the second half, and here we go.
McCurdy at the top of the key, switches in the
corner to Olifson OLiS and ball fake from three dribbles
in now back out to trouts, strouts to Carlo Carala
to the free throw line to Hildebrant, trying to hand
off the crouds. Good job by Wagner to defend o.
Hildebrant left alone, she'll go up with the right hand pass.
Gieson didn't score, and it's twenty seven to twenty three
Stout nine thirty eight left to play here in the
(01:14:24):
third quarter, just twenty seconds or so in to this
second half, four point lead for Stout, Gieson on the
left wing. Gieson hands off to Wagner up on the left,
guarded by McCurdy. Wagner looking for space to shoot. She'll
move it over to Schaeffer now on the right side.
Shaeffer up top to Sorenson, left wing to Geeson trying
to post up Sorenson inside. There's a high low pass.
You'll catch it. Some pressure there from olifsins you'll have
(01:14:45):
to kick it back out Shaffer for a three that
might have been blocked and it's out of bounds and
it is last touched by Stout with nine to eleven
left to play here in the third quarter. So good
start for Whitewater, not so good for Stout here to
start the second half. It was an offensive possession that
left something to be desired there. See, the Blue Devils
can lock it in defensively now, McCurdy to Trouch on
(01:15:09):
the right. Hildebrant catches at the top hill. The Brant
switches to corralas she's open for a left wing three
too strong and Wagner's got the rebound for the Blue Devils.
Wragner's got it up by four. Oh, nice pass up
towards Sorenson. She catches, turns, it's up the window. It
goes twenty nine twenty three Stout eight forty four to
go here in the third move, it left from Trouch,
(01:15:30):
a hand off to Corralajuana weave inside to Hildebrant.
Speaker 3 (01:15:33):
Geeson stays up in front of her.
Speaker 1 (01:15:34):
Doesn't matter, she'll score it anyway, and it's twenty nine
to twenty five. Stout Schaeffer quickly the other way. Blue
Devils move right to left. Here in the second half,
Geeson off on the right wing inside the Sorens and
catch shoot she got it inside thirty one twenty five
Blue Devils and now starting to open up a little
bit here on both sides of the court. Shrouch across
the timeline. Wagner defends, she'll move right with her to
(01:15:54):
the right wing. Hilda Brant catches Geeson defense. Hildebrant in
the corner the way by Geeze, she's got a steal.
What a steal it was, Oh, and much gotta pay attention.
She wasn't there boats stowing away by McCurdy. McCurdy into
the corner Corralo on the left wing. Oh, terrible play
there as much just didn't see it and didn't know
the pass was coming. A great steal, and then they
couldn't connect. Troutch at the top. Trouch drives in, stops
(01:16:18):
at the elbow. Good John by Geese and to cut
her off. Here's McCurdy. McCurdy moves to the right wing
up top to trout Troutch to Hildebrant, Hild around to
Corralo on the left wing. Corralo to the top of
the key, Corralo inside to Hildabrant in the lane defended
by Wager, misses a shot.
Speaker 3 (01:16:33):
Called on oliveson, I'm a rebound much had it and
got bumped from behind by Olofson. Her third.
Speaker 1 (01:16:40):
Stout thirty one Whitewater twenty five seven thirty eight left
to play here in the third corner. A trip to
the Elite eight on the line. The Blue doubles have
never been for the Whitewater. They have six to eight
total Sweet sixteen appearances. They've been to the final four
four times or no stranger.
Speaker 3 (01:17:00):
To the Elite Eight.
Speaker 1 (01:17:01):
Lost in the Elite Eate last year to the team
that defeated Stout in the Sweet sixteen in Transylvania. Here
is Geeson on the high right wing. Geeson looking inside
trying to get it to Sorens and then said to
Berg on the left side left wing. For Berg, she
was opened and take the shot. Geeson ball fake from
three dribbles in on Hildebrant spins, goes up with the right. Oh,
it's too strong off the back and it's grabbed by
Hildebrant right move. Everything was Eric except for the finish.
(01:17:23):
Karla the other way. Berg cuts her off the freshman
Berg defending beautifully highlow catch inside with Gillis. Oh, Wagner
fell over gill Us with the left hand of goes
thirty one twenty seven stout seven oh five left to go.
Third quarter, Wagner just falling over inside, got wrong footed.
Berg moves it over to Geson on the right wing.
(01:17:44):
Geeson drives in on, Hildebrant goes up. She was bumped
before the shot by Hildebrant, I believe and it was Hildeoran.
It'll be out of bounds to south. Second foul on
white water of the quarter. With six point fifty two
left to play. Here in the third jee Blue Devils
will have it. Mary Berg will inbound it. Sorenson tried
(01:18:04):
to get open on the right block. Can't they get
it to Geeseon in the corner out of Berg in
the left side. Here's much much from the left wing
up top to Wagner inside towards Sorenson to the free
throw line. She'll catch go up, had it block keeps
with it. Oh, she got bump that time, and she
will get the foul call on the second effort on Rittmeyer.
Whitewater doesn't like it, and again I think they let
(01:18:26):
a lot of contact go the first time. But when
she got the ball back, that's about it. Easy of
a follow as you're gonna get on Rittmeyer. The Blue
Devils head the line with Sorenson thirty one to twenty seven.
Stout right now with ya, Hope, if you are the
Blue Devils is again We're in this situation last year,
right sweet sixteen. As Sorenson hits the free throw, you
were up in the third and then it all kind
(01:18:47):
of went south real quickly. But they've got that experience
this time they know what to do to stop that
from happening. Here's Sorenson for a second free throw, rolls
off missus the free throw, first miss of the game
for Stout. There five of six at the line. Thirty
two to twenty seven. Stout leads, and her pass into Gillis,
Sorenson defends in the lane. Bounce it off for Trout.
(01:19:07):
She'll go up and it rolls in over top of
Wagner and it's a three point ball game. Thirty two
to twenty nine. Stout leads Willy back into the game
with three fouls. Here's Wagner from the right wing, almost
triggered the three, couldn't take it. Sorenson at the top
of the key to Willy on the left wing, trying
to get Wagner open. Dangerous pass gets it to Shafer,
skips it across to Willy. Willy trying to drive in
(01:19:28):
on Hildebrant. They go now into Sorenson. She'll take a
corner three that is no good and Ridoon Corralo not
a rhythm three. And Sorenson has struggled from the three
point line this season, shooting only twenty one percent. She's
a career thirty two percent three point shooter, though it's
been just this season. As Gralo drives in block by
Wagner out of bounds, stays with Whitewater on the baseline
(01:19:51):
in the front court Stout thirty two, Whitewater twenty nine.
Heels like, feels like Whitewater has been playing from behind
this whole, but they don't mind as long as they're leading.
When the final buzzer goes five forty eight to go
third quarter Stout thirty two, Whitewater twenty nine. Coralo has
not come out of this game is Sorenson gets a
steal and Gillis gets a reachin foul Sorenson with the
(01:20:15):
steel A.
Speaker 3 (01:20:15):
Pardon me, was it?
Speaker 1 (01:20:16):
Sornson er was at Willy Either one of them got
the steel inside, and then Gillis gets a reach in
there her third Anna much back in here for the
Blue Devils as Reagan Sorenson checks out again. She's got
two fouls and they want to try to preserve her
as much as they can. Willie the only player with
three for Stout and it's three for Olufsen on the
(01:20:38):
whitewater side. Berg on the right wing, Berg inside to
much bad pass, bad pass tipped away by Coralo and
it's grabbed by Rittmeyer. Thirty two to twenty nine stat
with the lead. A step back from Coralo for the tie. No,
it's short, reabound, Anna much he rips it down.
Speaker 15 (01:20:50):
Oh she got fouled.
Speaker 3 (01:20:51):
No call Oh boy.
Speaker 1 (01:20:54):
Looked like hil Lebrant gave her the business. And then
Anna Mutch fell over and it rolled out of bounds
and Hildebrant not called for it, and olaf Sing gonna
check back in five twenty seven left to go here
in the third. No argument from the Stout bencher. I
thought they would, but adda much. Just couldn't keep her
balance as she came down with that ball. Tried to
(01:21:15):
come down with the ball and bounds and go to
Corrala in the corner open, but didn't take the three.
Speaker 3 (01:21:19):
She spent cold.
Speaker 1 (01:21:20):
Now she will take it. She'll miss it this time.
She's oh of seven from beyond the arc. Mary Berg
has it here for Stout into the front courts fine
shaffer Shafer to the elbow. Now moves it left corner
to Willie Willy up top to much much, puts it
on the deck, drives in. Hildebrant cuts her off into
the lane. She goes looking for the up and under
move at the left hand top play it gorolls off
Hildebrant with great defense rebound ritt Meyern. Here comes Whitewater
(01:21:43):
Corralo in toward the lane. Corala loses the dribble, gets
it back. Oh double dribble gotta be called it is.
I think Corala was just hoping the officials didn't see
if she knew she did it. The sorens and checks
back in for the blue doubles and SODA's wager berg
out and much out as well. Four fifty eight left
of lay here in the third. Does that take us
to immedia timeout? Apparently we're not taking the media timeout.
(01:22:05):
Oh should be yeah, I think the officials have now
realized it and we will head to a media timeout.
Four fifty eight left to play here in the third
Stout thirty two, Whitewater twenty nine. This is a tight battle.
It's going to be a fun one as we get
down near the finish line. Come back right after this
here on your home for Blue Devil's Basketball.

Now back to the n Seed DOUBLEA tournament right here
on Newstalk wm EQ.
Speaker 1 (01:23:11):
He welcome back in here to Scranton, Pennsylvania and the
University of Scranton, thirty two to twenty nine. Stout with
the lead on Whitewater Sweet sixteen of the Division three
Women's Basketball NCAA Tournament. Now Blue Devils lead by three,
but it is a precarious lead here and as we
get into the later stages of this game, Stout shooting
just thirty two percent from the field, thirteen of forty
(01:23:31):
from the field in this game, in one of ten
from beyond the arc. Whitewater not much better, thirteen of
thirty nine to thirty three percent, and they are oh
of thirteen from beyond the arc. I mean Whitewater on
average makes six threes of game. Stout makes just under
seven a game on average. So both these teams have
really struggled shooting here tonight. I think a lot of
that has to do with the defense. It's not like
(01:23:52):
a new gym. They've been here for two days getting
warmed up and ready to go. Shaefer handing off to
Willie here for Stout, who has the basketball up by three.
Soornson at the album, I'm moving in on Trouch, hangs
and fires and it crawls over the rim and falls through.
Thirty four to twenty nine stout, two possession lead. Here
comes Corralo for the Warhawks. Corrala into the front court
off on the right side. She'll now have it poked
away and Shafer has this steal. Shafer looking for the
(01:24:14):
outlet pass and they're gonna slow it down here and
she'll move it forward up toward Lexi Wagner. Lexi Wagner,
not a much. Shaffer at the top moves it to
Willy Off on the left wing. Willy looking in, Oh,
what a passer, dangerous one to Sorenson. Shaffer on the
right wing. Not's a three, it's short and the rebound
for Trouch and she gets the box out on Sorenson.
Thirty four to twenty nine stouts. Somebody could hit a
three for the Blue Devils. Sure, the Warhawks fans feeling
(01:24:36):
the same way. Here's hildebran Off on the left wing,
skips it across Off on the right for ritt Meyer
Off beyond the three point line.
Speaker 3 (01:24:42):
Now bounces to all of them.
Speaker 1 (01:24:43):
Beyond the three point line on the right wing, guarded
Byanna Mutch puts it on the deck, drives in, took
an extra step, no call, but a foul here on
Stout like she tried that pivot foot through but no
call coming. And they're gonna get Anna Mutch or no Wagner.
I got Wagner for the foul. I thought they get
Anna Mutch here. Let's see Wagner for a reach and
it's her third, three fifty nine to go here in
the third. It's now thirty four Whitewater, twenty nine at
(01:25:07):
man the Geese and gonna check back in for Wagner.
And Wagner has been cooled tonight. She hit her first
three of the game and nothing since one of five
from beyond the arch. She's got the only main three
in this game for either team. As the free throw
will rattle out for Olifsen. Olifson seventy three percent from
the line on the season. This is not gonna be
setting any offensive records tonight here in Scranton for this game.
(01:25:29):
Thirty four to twenty nine Stout. Olison's second is good,
thirty four to thirty Blue Devils League again, three point
fifty nine to go here in the third, and I'm
much gonna check out I'm gonna a lista Lodermire in
for a couple of minutes to shore her up and
get her fresh for the fourth quarter. Coralo is gonna
play every minute of this game. She has not come
(01:25:49):
out neither as Hildebrant. Here's Schaefer across the timeline. Shaf
are gonna take it to the hoop, off the windows.
Speaker 3 (01:25:54):
She's fouled, and who are.
Speaker 12 (01:25:55):
They gonna get?
Speaker 1 (01:25:55):
I think oliveson and that is her fourth. Yea, it
is olives and just picked up her fourth foul with
three fifty two to go. She'll have to check out
of me. A Gillis, who has three, is gonna come
back in and they lose some extra size. If Gillis
or Olafson foul out of this game, pretty much you're
only left with Hildebrant.
Speaker 3 (01:26:15):
They're used to playing with kind of two bigs.
Speaker 1 (01:26:17):
Hillabrant the big at six foot two, and then everybody
else kind of it's that size in there as well.
Shaefer hits the first free throw. Shaeffer seventy seven percent
on the season, thirty five thirty stout, three fifty two
to go, third quarter, second he's off.
Speaker 3 (01:26:33):
Oh, she got her own rebound the put back, No,
it missed.
Speaker 1 (01:26:36):
Oh my goodness, Gillis. Then his foul by schaefer Man,
how did she get that rebound came around they lost her.
She came around the back side of the lane and
got there and should have had a layup and missed it.
Thirty five thirty sout Soworns and almost getting his steel there.
As they get at the troutch on the right wing
screen from Hildebrant, they move it over Corralo's open for
a left wing three.
Speaker 3 (01:26:56):
Miss It missed it.
Speaker 1 (01:26:57):
This time it's tipping her bout and it's grabbed by
Soren some Sorens and with a tough rebound all get
took crash her there. Got to call a foul and
they do on Rittmeyer. Rittmeyer just riding her down the
court and it will be two free throws coming up.
As that is the fifth foul on Whitewater in the
third quarter, three thirty four to go here in the
third stout thirty five Whitewater thirty is. Sam Shaeffer checks
(01:27:20):
out second foul on Rittmeyer. Blue Devils thirty five and
fifty five all time against Whitewater. It's his ninety first
matchup in these two programs sistories. Raygan Sorenson hits the
first thirty six thirty of wurstcarry Coronal, the head coach
of Whitewater for twenty three years, was an assistant under
(01:27:41):
Mark Thomas at Stout years ago before her head coaching
time here at Whitewater, and she has had great success
getting the team of two national runners up. And so
here comes troutch on to drive geese and helps out
beautifully there. Now picks up the dribble in the corner,
has to go to Hildebrant on the right wing. Hildebrant
skips it across tough pass. It's caught over there by Rittmeyer.
Ritt Meyer to Corralo between the circles, gives it to Gillis.
(01:28:03):
I'm trying to find her, and now they're gonna screen off.
Now a post set up beautifully done by Coralo, and
she makes the lay up past Mary byrd Berg, the
freshman just getting caught out on defense there thirty seven
thirty two Stout three zero four to go, third quarter,
mary Berg across the timeline, Sorenson in toward the lane.
She'll back it back out and go to geeseon on
the left wing. Between the wheels. It's Mary Berg moving
(01:28:24):
off on the right wing for Willie. Willie calling out
a screen. It's Geeson now into the lane, kicking to
Sorenson into the corner. Didn't want to take that shot.
Soren's a gonna drive it into the lane on Coralo
hangs over top of her, misses a shot. Coralo gets
the rebound. Coralo wins that battle. Thirty seven thirty two stout.
Whitewater brings it forward two thirty eight left to play
as there's a foul call on Berg on the drive in.
(01:28:47):
Laudermire reached in late, but they're gonna get Berg first.
Gonna be a Whitewater bounce ball out of bounds. Shafer
will check back in a Burg will check out with
two fouls, Rittmeyer checking out as well. You've got Gillis, Hildebrant, Trouch,
McCurdy and Carralo in the game here for the Warhawks.
(01:29:08):
As Gillis will catch up at the top of the
key trying to post up Hildebrant, Stead they go to
Corralo catch and shoot right corner three another heel miss.
Hillebrant gets the offensive board on the week's side. She
goes up on Willy with the right hand and it's good.
Thirty seven thirty four stout. Schaefer trying for the outlet
pass to Anna Much can't find it, and she'll pick
up the dribble on the right wing. Now Much has
it in the corner. Much out to the wing again.
(01:29:29):
Here's Willy at the top, moving left side, now to
loder Meyer. Loder Meyer dribbling in an armbar foul call here,
they're gonna loder Meyer a gonna go to the line
and this is going to be calling the McCurdy for
her first thirty seven thirty four stout two to eleven
left to go. Third quarter, Allison Letcher coming in, but
she'll come in for Lodermeyer after these free throws. Lodermeyer
(01:29:50):
at the line hasn't shot a ton this season at
the line, but she is there and the first is
new good sixty eight per as she misses on the
pop out there after it touched all the bit of
the rim, touched the glass and fell off, Lord of myrath.
Speaker 3 (01:30:06):
One more that is good.
Speaker 1 (01:30:10):
Thirty eight thirty four stout two eleven left to play
here in the third quarter, so a lot of time
left in this game. Reagan Sorenson won rebound away from
a double double. She's got seventeen and nine tonight, hadda
much with ten points as well. To add to it,
Corala has one rebound away from a double double as well.
It's fourteen and nine for her. Gillis looking to try
to find Corlao and Staid. Let's skip it across the Hildebrandt.
(01:30:32):
Hildebrant driving baseline, tough pass in the corner of McCurdy.
Three on the way good. They finally make one thirty eight,
thirty seven. Stout leads Whitewater one of fifteen. From beyond
the arc, Stout one of eleven. Both teams building a
brick house tonight at the three point line, but Whitewater
finally finding one. Here's Much in the lane trying to
spin on. Shrouch hesitates ball, fake goes up. Hildebrant with
(01:30:53):
the helpside blocks it. Willie tiptoes the baseline, grabs a ball.
Speaker 11 (01:30:56):
No.
Speaker 1 (01:30:57):
Reset of the shock lock though lets her at the
top for a three. It's off the side. No, and
Corralo's got the rebound. One points. Stout lead one to
twenty eight left to play. Third quarter, corral to the
hoop and she will miss it. It rolls off and
Letra gets the rebound. She missed the bunny layup. I
think she was thinking they'd be contact. Didn't get any.
Speaker 3 (01:31:13):
Schaeffer finds much in transition, pulls up for a left wing.
Speaker 1 (01:31:16):
Three swash animas for three and the Blue Devil's back
up by four stout forty one Whitewater thirty seven dribble
left here for McCurdy. McCurdy picks up the dribble in
the left corner guarded by Letcher into Hildebrandt.
Speaker 3 (01:31:29):
Hildebrant in on Willie spin move wild shot, no rabound
much she.
Speaker 1 (01:31:34):
Wanted a foul call, didn't get it, so does carry
Corrala on the bench, hand off to Much at the
top much dribble drive into the free throw line, picks
it up.
Speaker 3 (01:31:45):
Needs help.
Speaker 1 (01:31:45):
She'll go out to Geeson sixteen to shoot. Forty five
seconds left in the quarter, stop by four. Shafer inside
of Geese and catches goes up Oh it rolls off,
misses the shot is Carralo gives her pressure thirty five
seconds left to play in the third, about a seven
second differential between game and shot clock. Corrlo hesitates in
she goes takes a bump, missus, but you'll head to
the line as Letcher was behind her and gets called
(01:32:07):
for the foul. Wagner and Sorenson will get back in
there with their foul trouble as they expect to have
an offensive possession here, and so a number of subs
here for Stout for the offensive side.
Speaker 3 (01:32:30):
Anna much.
Speaker 1 (01:32:30):
Let's see Wagner, Sam Schaeffer, Reagan, Sorens, and Mary Berg
to find him on the floor at the moment twenty
eight point five to go Corla with the line.
Speaker 3 (01:32:37):
First free throw is good.
Speaker 1 (01:32:39):
Who kissed everything, but it went through forty one thirty
eight Stout as good as it gets here tonight. Second
is good. You know what, She found the range on
the first one. She was gonna find the ranch on
the second one. Two point stout lead hadda much to
inbound and no shot clock here, so Stout will try
to hold for the final shot of the half of
(01:32:59):
Corla is gonna gives some pressure here. She didn't have
any foul trouble to speak of. In fact, she has
not committed a foul, so she's gonna get all up
in Sam Schaeffer's business across the timeline. Fifteen seconds left
in the quarter, Stout by two, Whitewater winning this quarter
by four.
Speaker 3 (01:33:12):
At the moment, much on the.
Speaker 1 (01:33:14):
Left wing much hesitates with eight, with seventh, the free
throwing step back elbow jumper good five or five with four,
with three with two and a three point he that
will bounce off from McCurdy from the half court line.
They gave the points to Whitewater on the board, they'll
switch that. It should be forty three thirty nine here
at the end of the fourth and they'll switch that
(01:33:35):
here shortly. But we are at the end of three
and it's Stout forty three Whitewater thirty nine. Fourth quarter
coming up right after this here on You're home for
Blue Devils basketball.

Now back to the NCUBLEA tournament right here on Newstalk
wme EQ.
Speaker 3 (01:34:35):
Welcome back in.
Speaker 1 (01:34:35):
To the University of Scranton as we get set for
the fourth quarter. You're in sweet sixteen action. It's Stout
forty three, Whitewater thirty nine. I'm picking Newson Dat Price
back in studio here on news dot WNQ and Stout
loses that third quarter eighteen to sixteen, but they lead
by four on the scoreboard, which is what matters is
the Blue Devils have seventeen from reagansaorans In fifteen from
(01:34:57):
Adam Munch, Gary Carraalo Casey Corala Rather has sixteen, Hildebrant
has nine for the Warhawks. Stout shooting thirty three percent,
Whitewater thirty four percent. Both teams have not shot Wold.
This has been a defensive battle here is Sam Schaffer
with it moving right to left. Here in the fourth
quarter for the Blue Devils, it's Rosella Willie on the
right wing. It's Sorenson at the right elbow. Now much
from the left wing. She'll take a two and it
(01:35:18):
falls off. Tough shot there as Hildebrant gets the rebound.
Sorenson got a tip on a pass out of the
back court, but not enough to affect it. As here
is McCurdy. McCurdy moving up to the top of it
out by four across the Trouts. Troutch a late close
out there from Wagner, but didn't take the shot. Trouts
picks up the dribble to gill Us. Now on the
right corner. Gillis wanting Trouts to move to the hoop.
(01:35:38):
Shall pick up the dribble, bounces to Trout. Wagner has
defense in the corner here on Trout six to shoot.
Trouts gets picked up by much. They can't find Corala
on this possession, going to Hildebrant with two with one
that one goes at.
Speaker 3 (01:35:50):
The buzzer of the shot block.
Speaker 1 (01:35:51):
Don't need to check that one that was off in
time forty three forty one Stout nine to ten left
to play here in the fourth it's Sorenson in the corner.
Sorenson switches out to Shaffer in the left wing. Now
back to the left corner to Much Much skips it
across to Willie Willy inside. What a catch from swords
and she goes up and over Gillis and the Blue
Devils back out and crump by four forty five, forty
one stout eight to fifty four left of play. Corralo
(01:36:14):
into the front court, step up three on the way
off the rim. No and Much had the rebound and
a five call on Gillis. She got bumped from behind
and he'll be out of bounce of stout. Gillis picked
up her ford. Now you've got Oloffson and Gillis both
with four and they're gonna check Olofson back in. But
you're switching four files for four fouls here and now
(01:36:36):
it's all hands on decks, starters for boat teams on
the floor. Eight forty seven to go. Corraalo and Hildebrant
have not checked out of this game. Blue Doubleves have
gotten everybody out and rotated him in and out here tonight.
But that's not how Whitewater plays here's Much on the
left wing, much to the left elbow, and they wanted
to sag Off and let her shoot that too, They won't.
(01:36:57):
Wagner moves it right to Geese, Geeson on the right wing.
Geeson looking for much, got bumped in the lane. Geeson
in the lane, up on Hildebrant. Nothing there, Gotta get
out of there. She'll go out to Sorenson. Sorenson from
the wing. Now to Geeson. Back to Sorenson down on
the right block, fade away.
Speaker 3 (01:37:10):
Two yes over Trout.
Speaker 1 (01:37:12):
Shit's back to a six point Stout lead forty seven,
forty one, eight seventeen to go her Shrouch picks it
up on the right side, guarded by Sorenson. Trouch up
top to McCurdy. McCurdy between the circles, now moving left
as Wagner defense, She'll move right. She'll go to the
right wing to Trouch. Trout's trying to post up Hildebrant.
They switch off on her with much. Hildemrant catches it
at the right elbow. Hildeorrant skips it across. McCurdy wants
(01:37:32):
a three. She's missed a three, and Nana Much has
a rebound on the week's side near side. Blue Devils
have it up six seven fifty three to go. Schaeffer
across the timeline with two seconds to spare, trying to
slow things down. Here's Sorenson on the high right much
around left wing to Geese and Geeson from the three
point line. Thinking about a drive on Hildebrant and Stead.
(01:37:53):
She'll go to Sorenson. Sorenson, Gove's right back to Wagner.
Ball fake from three, tries to move the side, It's
not there. Goes to Sorenson away from the right short side.
No good ribound. Carlo took some contact. NOE call wouldn't
have been called. There is Corralo drives all the way
to the hoop and the left hand layup goes. Time
out taken by the Warhawks seven twenty three to go.
Here in the fourth forty seven forty three stout. Now
(01:38:15):
we'll send us to a media timeout. Hold on to
your hats, folks. Gonna be a good finished out by four.
We come back after this here on your home for
Blue double Basketball.

Now back to the NZED Double A Tournament right here
on news Talk wm EQ.
Speaker 1 (01:39:12):
Well Stout fans trying to make some noise here. Seven
to twenty three left to play in this fourth quarter.
It's the Stout Blue Devils forty seven, Whitewater forty three
is the Blue Devils shooting thirty four percent from the field.
Whitewater thirty six. Casey Corralo with eighteen for the Warhawks.
With the Blue Devils, Reagan Soorrenson has twenty one that
she's added to the tally. Has nine rebounds as well
(01:39:32):
from Sorenson, who averages seventeen points a game.
Speaker 3 (01:39:36):
Third in the YAX.
Speaker 1 (01:39:37):
Seventy fifth over all in the NCAA, and the first
team All YAK member is playing her butt off here
tonight is Man de Geesea gets set to inbound this
Stout by four points with the basketball here after the
mad bucket from Casey Corralo.
Speaker 3 (01:39:53):
And the Warhawks.
Speaker 1 (01:39:54):
As we come out of the time out time, here's
Sam Shaffer. They'll slow things down across the timeline. Stout
content to play half court offense again. I think their
half court offense has been better than Whitewaters. White Waters
has been mainly trying to score in transition. Sorenson trying
to spin on all of them to go out to
Wagner catching shoot.
Speaker 3 (01:40:13):
Three rolls off.
Speaker 1 (01:40:14):
Shaffer had the rebound, Hildebrant poked away. Now Shaffer tracks
it down on the corner. Shafer there, they've got a
new twenty. They can slow things down under seven to
go Stout by four decent at the top of the key,
Gonna drive on Hildebrant to the right block, spins with
the left hand.
Speaker 3 (01:40:28):
No, it doesn't go rebound Shrouch.
Speaker 1 (01:40:30):
Stout has missed some bunnies tonight, and it's been because
of Hildebrant's size inside they're moving off on the right
to McCurdy Stout by four. Hildebrant skips it across the
Corralo on the left wing, ball Akee there as Shaeffer defense.
Speaker 3 (01:40:40):
Coralo holding still holding. Sixteen to shoot and.
Speaker 1 (01:40:44):
Five seconds is the call, Boy, You rarely see that
call anymore for a closely guarded from Sam Shaffer. Corralo
just kind of losing track of time and Stout gets
the turnover to go their way. Boy, you rarely see
that call anymore. Six thirty three left to play here
in the fourth Schaffer across the timeline. Scout's got to
(01:41:05):
run some good offense and get a bucket here. It's
been a while since they have scored. Schaffer moves it
off to the right wing. Geeson at the top. Geson
wants to drive on Hildebrant. She's been cutting her off
all night, taking away the Geeson drive, that is for sure.
Sorenson though. On the left wing she'll drive. I'll kick
it to Mary Berg in the corner. She wants a three.
She has got a great a freshman stepping up in
this sweet sixteen fifty to forty three Stout.
Speaker 3 (01:41:27):
That's the first three of the game. For Scouts since
the first three.
Speaker 1 (01:41:30):
They took spin moved by Olison to Hildebrant, blocked away
by Sorenson, out of bounds on the Baselin nine, five
point fifty nine to go and twenty to shoot. Oh
about that three pointer from Berg. Stout had missed twelve
threes in a row before she made that one. Shape
(01:41:52):
or pardon me, Wagner hit the first of the game,
and that's the first three Stouts had since early in
the first quarter. Stout fans making some noise here. Gillis
catches on the baseline inbound. They go to Corraalo out
to McCurdy. She wants a three. That's well off the mark.
Rebound Willie inside for Stout, boxing out on Hildebrant. Stout
by seven with the ball five forty nine left to go.
(01:42:13):
Loder Meyer going up, blocked inside by Gillis. Gillis a
great defense inside. She'll pass it up to McCurdy. Stout's
got to get back on defense. Loder Meyer does great
job getting back by her. Trout's trailing three on the
way God a rainbow fifty to forty six. Stout five
thirty left to play. Mary Berger cross the timeline a
lot of starters on the bench getting their final rest
(01:42:35):
of the game. Here for South, they gotta get him
back in shortly. I'd imagine Sorenson spinning in the lane,
gets double team, goes out to loder Myerlo's slow it down.
Lodermeyer back to Willy on the left side. Willy looking
inside nothing there. Willie gonna try to drive on Hildebrant
scoop layup up it under what a moon from Rosella.
Willie her first points of the game. Fifty two to
forty six.
Speaker 3 (01:42:54):
Stout Corlo the other way, driving in kick sitting the corner.
McCurdy another three.
Speaker 1 (01:42:59):
God, oh my goodness, mccurty heating up. Fifty two to
forty nine.
Speaker 3 (01:43:03):
Stout.
Speaker 1 (01:43:04):
Mccurty just kind of single handedly keeping Whitewater there. Here's
Sorenson on the left side. Sorenson for Wagner at the top.
She steps into a three. That one rolls off just
short rebound. Corralo fifty two to forty nine. Stout Coralo
in the front court. Willie picks her up defensively. Stout's
got to get those subs in there. They may think
(01:43:24):
about a timeout. Corralo trying to drive. She gets past
Willy with the right hand. Oh, she missed the bunny
in a late foul. A late foul call on Willie
for her fourth man a timeout, take in and we
will head to the final media timeout of this game.
So that gets the Blue Devils subs in. But Stout
(01:43:44):
leads by just three and Whitewater's gonna be shooting free
throws when we come back. Stout fifty two, Whitewater forty nine,
four to thirty two left to play fourth quarter. Back
after this on your home for Blue double Basketball.

Now back to the NZEED DOUBLEA Tournament right here on
news Talk wme EQ.
Speaker 1 (01:44:44):
Welcome back in here too, the University of scrant and
scrant Pennsylvania. A stout fifty two Whitewater forty nine, four
thirty two left to play here in this sweet sixteen
matchup in regulation. Whitewater going to be headed to the
line here as we come out of the timeout, and
after Roseillie Willie fouls.
Speaker 3 (01:44:59):
She has Gillis has four for Whitewater.
Speaker 1 (01:45:01):
I swore that Malary Olufsen had four as well for Whitewater,
but they've only got her for three in the system
three per Trouch as well, and you got three fouls
on Lexi Wagner. That's really the foul trouble as it exists,
and it is Coralo at the line. So you assume
if your stout, these two are gonna go. And now
you've got to figure it out at the offensive end.
And it starters back in except for Wagner. Wagner getting
(01:45:23):
arrest here for a moment with Willie replacing her. But
other than that, it's all starters. Is that free throws
in for Coralo Corlo now up to nineteen points, she's
got a double double nineteen and twelve, so far. Hildebrand's
got a double double as well, eleven and ten, and
she'll make the second. Fifty two to fifty one. Stout
bou doubles were up fifty to forty three a few
moments ago. It's an eight two run here for Whitewater
(01:45:44):
to get it back within one. Sorenson on the left
wing here for Stout four to twenty three left to play.
Nobody moving around here for Stout. They give it to Shaffer.
McCurdy all up in her business here on the high
wine and the left side. Shafer spins. Shafer looking moving right,
find Sorens in the top of the key. Gonna drive
on Trouch. She hangs and it was popped away. They'll
get it into much in the corner. A wild three
(01:46:05):
on the way. That's an air ball, and it's grabbed
by Corralo on one point Stout lead.
Speaker 3 (01:46:10):
That was a bad shot.
Speaker 1 (01:46:10):
They gotta make some better decisions offensively to Stout. On
the next possession, Trouch picks up her dribble. They deny
Corla to hand off. We play there on the right wing,
go to Gillis. They're trying to set up hilldrant instead.
Good denial there from geeseon inside corrala in the left corner,
guarded by Shaper calling out for a screen. Gieson switches off.
Now much switches off on her. They go high low
(01:46:31):
into hill of the branch. He catches fluck by Willie
out of bounds with five to shoot. Willie with a
late help sign from the near side, and she boked
it out of bounds, and it will be Whitewater basketball.
Speaker 3 (01:46:42):
But only five seconds to shoot. Is Wagner gets back
into the game.
Speaker 1 (01:46:45):
Yeah, I think you gotta bring her in with three
thirty eight left to go, and they'll get Willy out
of there. So it starters for both teams except for Olufsen.
For Whitewater, you got Gillis in there instead.
Speaker 5 (01:46:54):
For her.
Speaker 1 (01:46:57):
Inbounds, will go to Gillis up at the top. Oh,
switches it in the corner to mccurdiy. She was open,
got it to her late till drive and said with
the left hand. It goes at the buzzer of the
shot clock. Wow, and a whistle here, and I think
they may take a look at this, take a look
at a potential shot clock violation. So right now it's
Whitewater fifty three Stout fifty two to three point thirty
(01:47:18):
one left to play, and they are going to take
a look at the monitor to make sure that that
beat the horn. I thought it did in real time,
but they'll have a better look at it on the
replay and they will continue to look at that. So
Stout at the moment, Trails.
Speaker 3 (01:47:33):
That is the.
Speaker 1 (01:47:36):
First lead that Whitewater has had since the one twenty
mark of the first quarter. And weber Stout had a
big run to start the game, and then Whitewater got
up on the Blue Devils there ten to seven, ten
to eight, excuse me, and then Stout got back the
lead and it's been all Stout since. Stout has led
per ninety percent of this game over thirty three minutes
(01:47:57):
of action. But now Whitewater is ahead, offishals are taking
a look to see if they're gonna wave this basket
off for a shot block violation. I think I'm getting
a text from down at the table as to what's
going on down there, and the officials have tried to
let a lot go tonight. Blue Devils have been dribbling
(01:48:20):
and driving to the hoop, and you got a physical Whitewater,
a big Whitewater team, and they have not been able
to get those calls to go their way, and that
has kept Whitewater in this game. Is officials are gonna
take a look. They're asking for Stout to go back
to the huddle here, so while they still review this,
three point thirty one left to play here in the
fourth Whitewater. Now they've taken the bucket off the board.
(01:48:43):
Here are they waving this one off? They had it
up on the board Whitewater fifty three, Stout fifty two,
But now the scoreboard reads fifty two to fifty one Stout,
and so does our live scoring system as well. So
maybe they've just wiped it out to see what they
want to score it here. So the officials still looking
(01:49:04):
at this at the table, Oh my goodness, this is
getting nervy moments here. Stout never been to an Elite eight.
White Water's been there a ton of times, has been
to the final four four times total and been national
runners up twice. It's the fourth time that Scout's ever
been to this week sixteen, and they are going to
score the bucket. So white Water gets the bucket fifty
(01:49:27):
three fifty two. Whitewater leads. That was just in time.
As they look back at the replace. So Stout now
trails by one three point thirty one to play. Here
in the fourth Amanda Geeson to Reagan Swordson, and here
we go. Oh, your heart's in your throat right now.
If you're a blue double fan, Soorrens are gonna try
to take it in on Trout. She gets cut off
(01:49:48):
nicely there. She tries to drive on the right side,
trying to find Wagner. That's a really dangerous past. McCurdy
is all over. Wagoner's going to try to drive whole
little fade away from the left side of the lane.
It falls off and Hildebrant gets the rebound, cannot get
the ball a fall tonight, Ken Wagner fifty three fifty
two Whitewater Stout trails three oh three to go and
McCurdy with it, trying to burn some of the time down.
(01:50:11):
McCurdy into hilde or part me to Gillus rather at
the top of the key, guarded by much Gillis hands
off the trout steps into a three no long rebound
for Wagner. Wagner's got it, Oh, Corlo all up in
her business, and Shaffer's got it here for Stout two
forty five to go here in the four. Can't get
down on yourself. Gotta think positive thoughts here a few
of the blue devils. Shaeffer move's left, guarded by Corralo,
(01:50:31):
hands it off to Sorens and Sorenson grouted by troutch
again Sorenson for Shaeffer on the left wing. Shaeffer're gonna
try to get Wagner open instead, theyll skip it across
the Geese, and Geese was open from three. She'll go in,
said they got a screen in four inside missus the shots.
Sorenson gets it back, goes up, no good, put back again. Yes,
Sorenson would not be to Night fifty four fifty three
Stout two twenty to go Trout to the right wing
(01:50:53):
to Gillis. They try to post up Hillon ran inside
and said this McCurdy. McCurdy couldn't pull the trigger on
a three at the top and a.
Speaker 15 (01:51:00):
Foul called away from the bowl on why water.
Speaker 3 (01:51:02):
That's Gillis and she is foul out.
Speaker 1 (01:51:06):
Her fifth foul A two ten to go Stout fifty
four Whitewater fifty three is Olifsen checks in. Willie will
come in for Geeson here and give her a couple
of moments of respite, but I'd expect Geeson to get
back in there pretty quickly. Hanna Geeson no points tonight,
(01:51:27):
She's oh for seven from the field. Shafer hands it
off to Sorenson between the leg dribble and the free
throw line. Takes a two point jumper. No good on
a line drive shot, and Trout's got the rebound that
shot there from Sorenson. Fifty four to fifty three, Stout
under two left to play here in the sweet sixteen.
This is Trout, Trouts guarded by Willie. Trout bounces up
top to Olipson. She'll step into a three, no and
(01:51:48):
missus and Wagner's gonna let that roll out of bounds.
It's south basketball. Willie gonna mbound one, forty three to go.
Speaker 3 (01:52:00):
Stout.
Speaker 1 (01:52:00):
Fans gonna come to their feet, and there's a lot
of them here in Scranton, PA. Shaper across the timeline
looking for a play. Nobody's really running anything. It's Willy
on the left wing. It's up top to much much,
finds Wagner. Wagner on the right wing skips it back
across so much Much on the left side gets the screen,
moves into the free throw line backs it back Out
(01:52:21):
takes a long two too strong, tips out of there.
Who's gonna grab it? Swords and gets it first. Then
they get it to Willy. What a hustle play. One
fifteen to go New twenty for Stout. Shafer spin Shaper
into the lane, tries to pass it off to Willie
and it's got grabbed by Hildebrant. Hildebrant with the steel.
One oh five to go Stout fifty four, Whitewater fifty three.
Here's Corralo on the other end. Corlo bounces to McCurdy.
(01:52:44):
Wagner all up in her business on the right wing.
Here's Hildebrant. Hildeorant skips it across Stroutch on the left wing,
didn't take the three. Under a minute left to go
Olufsen Troutch guarded by much Trouts tries to get around
or they go out to McCurdy. McCurdy ball fek from three.
Hildeorrant nothing going on this possession. Five seconds left in
the Shocklock loses it in the corner. They got to
get a shot off here with two with one wild.
Speaker 3 (01:53:05):
Shot o'clock violation.
Speaker 1 (01:53:07):
Thirty nine point six to go Stout fifty four, White
Water fifty three. And now you've got a nine second
differential between game and Shocklocks. How could call it time
out here and advance the ball? And they should and
they will. So they will advance the ball on the timeout,
which you can do in women's basketball, and they will
(01:53:31):
talk it over. Oh my goodness, forgive me while they
take a drink of water. And I wish it was
much stronger right now. Fifty four fifty three, Stout thirty
nine points six to play. Stout shooting just thirty two percent,
but just trying to grind it out somehow, some way
against Whitewater. This is a battle of two teams who
(01:53:52):
have played each other way too much this season. And look,
it's exciting because it's close if you're a neutral fan,
but man alive, I think both teams are going Why
did we have to match up against each other in
the sweet sixteen homever Whitewater had to beat Lacrosse by
one to get into the sweet sixteen at home, another
YAK foe, And again this is the first time in
(01:54:12):
recent history we could find that WAYAK teams have played
each other four times in a season. Stout fans are
gonna come to their feat Stout's got the ball in
the front court. Now the question is, I mean, Whitewater's
got two fouls to give, so if they want to
give the fouls, they got to give them quick. Sorenson
catching and they're gonna play this one out. No, Now
they're gonna foul Troutch will get called and probably the
(01:54:34):
wrong player to foul though. There she's got four now,
of like they've got three on the board, but four
in the system for her in the stats system, that's
the third foul on Whitewater. So they got one more
to give and they're gonna maybe make Stout try to
do this at the free throw line. Inbounds goes to
Anna Mutch, she is fouled by Olofson, and now she
has fouled out. So Gillis and Oliveson have fouled out,
(01:54:57):
and so the seven man rotation is now down to five.
There is nobody else that carry Carlo will want to
go to here in this situation. So you've got that,
You've got the five on the floor you're gonna have.
And bounds goes to much She'll be fouled by Rittmeyer
and that will send Much to the line with thirty
three point seven to go. Stout fifty four, Whitewater fifty three.
(01:55:19):
Anna Much at the line is two of two there
tonight Stout nine and twelve at the free throw line
this evening Blue double's fifty four Whitewater fifty three, thirty
three points, seven seconds left to play, two free throws
coming here. In women's basketball, once you hit the five
foul mark here is much yep, yep, fifty five fifty
three Stout. Amanda Geeson not in there right now for Stout,
(01:55:43):
You've got Rosella Willian instead. In terms of the starters,
one more for Anna much good three points. Stout lead
fifty six fifty three, they lead it and Whitewater I'll
take a time out, thirty three points seven to go.
Speaker 3 (01:56:03):
Now.
Speaker 1 (01:56:03):
In our stat system, they apparently Olifson did not fall
out of this game. So Olifson has four. Trouch has
score as well. So again there's been some disparity between
the scoreboard and the stat system here, but I think
they've got it all right. Nobody's fell out for Stout.
Only four finals on Willie. You got three on Wagner,
and that's it in terms of falutroll. Everybody else with
(01:56:24):
two or fewer for Stout. Now you got Ragan Sorenson
with twenty three to night and twelve rebounds as well,
Ringan Sorenson with twenty three points. Is now let's see
under fifty points off of Julia Hersig, the leading scorer
in Stout history, still would need to get to the
final four in all likelihood for her to have a
chance at the all time scoring record for program history
for the Blue Devils.
Speaker 3 (01:56:45):
But that's a ways, a way.
Speaker 1 (01:56:46):
They got to finish off this thirty three point seven left,
fifty six fifty three Stout thirty three point seven Ago
Corala to inbound in.
Speaker 3 (01:56:53):
The front court.
Speaker 1 (01:56:54):
She looks, looks she'll go to Hildebrand, who catches out
at the left wing, back to Corla in the corner
shape her all over in a foul called on Schaeffer,
which is okay in this situation. That is only I
believe the third for seven, just the second, excuse me,
in this half, So they're in this quarter rather so,
(01:57:14):
so two more to give. Sal could be really aggressive
here if they want to be. Just can't file on
a jump shot on a three point shot trout to
mbound and she can't find anybody to get a corraalo
corralo step back from the top of the key. Tough
shot rolls off and it's rebounded by Shaffer. She tried
to kick out as well to get a foul call,
and you're just never gonna get that call, and Shaffer
with the rebound. With twenty four points six to go
(01:57:35):
Stout fifty six, Whitewater fifty three, and Schaeffer gets two
free throws, Shafer one of two at the line to
nine and against Stout eleven of fourteen at the free
throw line this evening. So here comes two free throws
for Sam Shaffer.
Speaker 12 (01:57:58):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (01:57:59):
First one is good.
Speaker 1 (01:58:00):
Fifty seven fifty three Stout twenty four points six to
Ghost Whitewater regardless of a make or miss.
Speaker 3 (01:58:06):
As long as they get a rebound on a make.
On a miss, they will take a time out.
Speaker 1 (01:58:09):
Here Shaper makes the second one matter, they'll take a
timeout and advance the ball.
Speaker 3 (01:58:14):
That is uh. They had two left.
Speaker 1 (01:58:15):
Now just have one left do the Warhawks twenty four
point six to play Stout by five? On the two
main free throws for Sam Shaper. They have corrected things
in the stat system. Now they've gotten they say, the
stat system says Trouch has fouled out, but that can't
be right. She's got four, Olofson's got five. They are
(01:58:37):
having a hard time down there at the stat system,
I think at the moment there, so I imagine that
Trouch is the one with four and Olofson has five,
but don't quote me on that. I believe there's two
again that should be Olison and Gilli should be the
two players filed out for Whitewater, but that's not what
our stat system reflects. And I think the scoreboard reflects
(01:58:58):
the right thing, but not the system. So they'll they'll
work all that out, but it could be a moot
point if Stout can figure out a way here. With
twenty four points six left to play here from Scranton,
Blue Devil's trying to make it to their first Elite
eight in team history, and as we said, Whitewater is
gonna have to now get every bucket everything to go
right here in this twenty four point six left. It
is not out of the realm of possibility for them,
(01:59:20):
but they got to get some open shots and they've
been struggling here as Stout has played some great defense
here tonight, ritt Meyer to inbound right in front of
the Whitewater war Hawk bench. Trouch gets the inbound, takes
it in. She'll kick it in the corner Corralo for
a corner. Three good, fifty eight fifty six Stout. They'll
have to foul again and Shafer is fouled. That no
(01:59:42):
timeout taken rather by the Blue Devils nineteen point two
to go. So now again you make your free throws.
You're in good shape. But now it becomes an even
more dire situation here for Whitewater, they need a miss
on one of these next two and against Stout's got
to get the ball in cleanly. They got to get
it to who they needed to go two and so on.
So Out fifty eight, Whitewater fifty six. Both teams, at
(02:00:06):
least according to the scoreboard, which I don't know if
i'd trust tonight the way things have gone, each team
has one time out, and according to what's up there,
fifty eight to fifty six Stout Stout shooting just thirty
two percent from the field. That is fourteen points or
fourteen percentage points under their field goals shooting percentage on
(02:00:27):
the season. I think the officials might be looking at something.
Are they gonna check whether Corralo hit a three here
or not and she was behind the line. I don't
think there was any doubt of that. I guess there
was enough of a doubt for the officials to go
to the line or to go to the monitor rather
and check it out. Right now, it says Trouch only
has four pounds.
Speaker 12 (02:00:45):
Man.
Speaker 1 (02:00:45):
They just keep moving and messing things around. This might
be what they're doing. They may be checking the foul
disparity for what I thought was going here. I thought
Olufsen and Gillis had fouled out. We know Gillis is
fouled out, okay, But I think they may be they're
either checked foul disparities and who's gotten how many fouls
and so on, or they're taking a look at Coralo's
three to make sure she was behind the line, which
(02:01:06):
in real time it certainly looked like she did. And
we do not have the benefit of a monitor up here.
Tonight in Scranton, a few fans have filed in for
game number two of the evening Scranton versus Johns Hopkins
with a trip to the elite eight on the line.
It is to start just like it is back at
UWS stout of spring break today, So I think kind
(02:01:28):
of a talk around the campus here was that there
won't be a lot of students here. They think it'll
be the same number of parents, I'm sure, But you know,
how many fans they get out here at this regional
basically is a question. And so right now the Blue
Devils fans making themselves loud and a stout can be
fortunate enough to advance Tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (02:01:47):
They will.
Speaker 1 (02:01:50):
Likely be going up against a similar fan base, but
they may bring out a few more on a Saturday
night as well, so it can be interesting. But you
got to get there nineteen point two to go here
in the fourth on this sweet sixteen games Stout fifty eight,
Whitewater fifty six, and the officials are still looking things over.
And while I don't really want to care a whole
lot about the other games going on right now, I
guess we'll take a look anyway. Again, the couple tickets
(02:02:12):
already punched Cause Stavis with the win against McMurray, so
they are now one game away from the final four.
They'll take on the winner of Boden versus Smith. NYU
did beat Suny genneseseo seventy five two fifty three. Gettysburg
is up thirteen to ten on Randolph making early just
at the end of the first quarter. In that game
in Ohio apartment me Balton Wallace rather is leading Ohio
(02:02:33):
Wesleyan fifty one to forty eight with eight h two
left to go in the fourth. They got the officials
back together here and or the coaches rather, and I
got to imagine they're sorting something out here in terms
of either how many timeouts everybody has left, or how
many fouls are left or whatever it is. So I
don't know if we're going to get an announcement from
(02:02:54):
the PA here about what just happened, but it is
stout basketball. Yeah, we are off we go Stout fifty eight,
White Water fifty six. Shaefferd mboun it right in front
of the south bench. Somebody gotta get Roagner and Sowrens
and ran into each other.
Speaker 3 (02:03:12):
We're gonna go.
Speaker 1 (02:03:13):
Too much much has it and much as fouled by
Corlo Hard and Corrala will try to help her up here,
had a much reaching up to her mouth and if
she bit a lip, bit a tongue something like that,
handa much got hit hard on that plane will not
go to the monitor, but seventeen point three to go. Well,
(02:03:34):
you make both three throws, you're in decent shape, but
you gotta make them both. You make one and it
becomes real tricky. Here's Anna Much for the first good,
nothing but that from Ana Much. Fifty nine fifty six Stout,
seventeen point three to go. The Blue Devils have led
for most of this game. Whitewater has made it really
(02:03:55):
really tough.
Speaker 3 (02:03:57):
One more for Much. It's good, sixty to fifty six Stout.
Speaker 1 (02:04:03):
Whitewater uses their final timeout to advance the ball seventeen
point three to go. What a finish, What a ball game.
But it is a two possession game. Hare was seventeen
point three left and that is the last time out
by Whitewater. So no more advancing the ball on a
timeout any more situations. Scouts got to just play good
(02:04:25):
defense for one more possession and if they can get
a miss from Whitewater, they're gonna be.
Speaker 3 (02:04:29):
On the way.
Speaker 1 (02:04:32):
This Stout team you saw against Whitman last weekend did
not want to stop playing. They did not want to
stop playing together. Anna Much just single handedly took the team,
put it on her back and said, I want to
play next weekend.
Speaker 3 (02:04:45):
I don't care what the name on the jersey is.
Speaker 1 (02:04:48):
I don't care about rankings, I don't care about size,
I don't care about any of that.
Speaker 12 (02:04:52):
I want to win.
Speaker 1 (02:04:53):
And she's trying to do the same thing here to
night with this boot Devil squad is inbounding the ball
will be McCurdy for Whitewater. See a fifty six stout.
McCurdy gets it into Hildebrant. Here's the hand up. No,
she was trying to get to Corral, turns a round,
takes a wild three. That's an airball. It's saved, but
back into Sorenson. Sorenson then is fouled. With ten point
one left to play, Stout up five to four. It
(02:05:15):
ain't over yet, but now Whitewater cannot advance the ball
on a timeout because they are out of timeouts. And
this is the first time we're gonna see anybody outside
of that seven player rotation check in. It's Cameron Nice
who will check in for Maggie Trout, who is now
fouled out of the game.
Speaker 3 (02:05:31):
Two Nice.
Speaker 1 (02:05:34):
Cameron Nice is sophomore from Plattevilt has now Reagan Sorenson
is at the line. First free throw, Yes, sixty one
fifty six, Blue Devils, ten point one left to play.
Here in the sweet sixteen, Sorenson's second good sixty two
(02:05:55):
fifty six.
Speaker 3 (02:05:56):
Stout.
Speaker 1 (02:05:56):
Here's Coralo with eight, with seven, with six across the timeline,
a thirty footer.
Speaker 3 (02:06:01):
No, it's an airball, stoup basketball.
Speaker 1 (02:06:03):
With three point nine left to play, Blue Devils fans
making some noise. We're gonna see one more sub here
for Whitewater. Olivia Zugi checking into the games. You'll come
in for Hildebrant Keison gonna check out. Number of Blue
Devils are gonna check out as well. There's Hugs going around.
(02:06:26):
With three point nine left to play, Stell knows what's
about to happen. At least dog gonna check into the
game as well and give Reagan sorens In a standing ovation.
Speaker 3 (02:06:40):
And Whitewater clearing the bench as well. Look at this,
Can you believe it?
Speaker 1 (02:06:47):
This is gonna end a heck of a career for
Casey Carlo as she heads to the bench as well.
Tough for Whitewater. It's all smiles for the Blue Devils.
Willing to inbound. You'll go to mary Burg Whitewater will
not foul two and for.
Speaker 3 (02:07:00):
The first time in program history, but uwst Blue edles
alit as they head to be Elittate.
Speaker 1 (02:07:07):
Tomorrow night, sixty two fifty six, Stout beats Whitewater and
they are now just one game away from the final four.
The twenty twenty five Division three NZAA women's basketball season
(02:07:28):
tough for Whitewater. They'll have tears tonight. The Boot Devils
will have at least one more. It's the reason why
coach Nats and athletic director for the Blue Devils gets
emotional about this team because they are a team that
inspires emotion and they're gonna go celebrate this. Some of
(02:07:52):
the student photographers who've made the trip will take some
pictures and there goes let's go Blue chant from the
Stout parents and fans who have made the track, and
they will celebrate with them as well. The first time
in Stout program history, they are headed to the Elite eight.
(02:08:14):
Fourth times at charm. It's the fourth trip to the
Sweet sixteen that gets them to the Elite Eight, which
will be tomorrow night here on Newstalk wm EQS seven
forty five pregame and eight o'clock tip local that should
be six to forty five back in Monominy and seven
o'clock tip Central time, So we'll talk a lot more
(02:08:34):
about that. We'll have a full postgame show coming up
for you as well. I'd imagine ring and Sworns and
andanamuch Or headed to the postgame press conference, so we
will try to get a blue double player either after
that press conference is over or at some point tonight.
Scranton Johns Hopkins coming up next. That's gonna be a
good one as well. Again, that game won't be here.
You can catch that game on NCAA dot Com. Just
(02:08:57):
check out sports, go to Women's Basketball, and go to
d you'll find the live link there as well. I
believe all those live links are on Scranton's website and
on South's website as well, so you can check that
game out there. Full post game show coming up for you, Dan,
Let's take two minutes a two minute break, and we
will come back and go over all the stats from
this one and hopefully get you set up for a
game Parmia with an interview and much much more. We'll
(02:09:20):
have a nice long post game show because we don't
have anywhere to go s back to hotel or Instagram.
Speaker 3 (02:09:24):
Pennsylvania.
Speaker 1 (02:09:24):
Time to celebrate is the Blue Devils are heading on
to the Elite eight for the first time in program history.
The final score sixty two to fifty six in favor
of the Blue Devils. We will be back in two

Now back to the NCAA tournament right here on newstalk
wme EQ.
Speaker 1 (02:11:54):
All right, welcome back in here to Scratton, Pennsylvania as
we are at the John Long Center here on campus,
and the Blue Devils moving on to the Elite eight
as they win the first time on the Sweet sixteen,
their fourth attempt after losing last year the previous year's
runners up in Transylvania. They win to night sixty two
(02:12:16):
to fifty six over Whitewater. I'm peconduced. Dan Price is
back in studio. We got a full post game show
for you. Unfortunately, the postgame press conference not being live
stream like we were doing at Stout, so we will
not be able to tap into coach Iverson and likely
Reagan Sorens and Nana much. But I have given multiple
Stout staff members, and you heard from coaching ats and
(02:12:36):
from others lots of instructions as to get at least
a player up here at some point after that press
conference is over or before that, maybe somebody else who
can come up and chat with us. And so somebody
is gonna bring somebody up at some point. That was
that zet A radio teas. That's probably the worst, right,
Something's gonna happen at some point, yes, I suppose, but yeah,
(02:12:57):
that's gonna happen here. So we'll look for to that
is now Scranton Johns Hopkins start warming up here for
game number two, which is about a half an hour away,
So we'll try to be off the air before that
half an hour is up and should be a lot
of fun. We'll go through the postgame stats here and
much much more. But I want to say one thing here.
Put the folks in Scranton. I have been as a
if you know me, you know that I am a
(02:13:19):
big office fan, big fan of the Office, and so
I've been, you know, I've been trying to act like
you know, like when you meet a celebrity and you
don't want to start, you know, fangirling and geeking out
when you meet a celebrity. I've done that before and
felt really embarrassed. I was like, I'm not going to
say anything about the office to anybody here as well.
Maybe they don't like it that kind of thing, right,
don't bringing up a lot.
Speaker 3 (02:13:39):
They they love it here.
Speaker 1 (02:13:41):
It's amazing what they do here that they they play
the office theme song as the teams come out to
warm up. It's the first song that they play. And
then like all the tracks they pick are songs that
are important at some point in.
Speaker 3 (02:13:53):
The office, right.
Speaker 1 (02:13:54):
I mean, when Michael and Michael's moving holly up to Nashaua,
they sing Life is a high Way in the truck.
They played that before the game. There's a bunch of
those office kind of songs that they play, and so
I am very impressed. I don't know if that's purposeful.
I assume it is, and if it is, that's really great.
Love it up here as well. So that's my little
side note. All right, let's get back to basketball. Stout
(02:14:15):
winning sixty two to fifty six over Whitewater tonight Reagan
Sorenson with twenty five points and thirteen rebounds. She went
nine up twenty one from the field, and all one
from beyond the arc as well. It was Sam Shafer
adding five points, one of four from the field goal situation,
three of four at the free throw line. Nineteen points
for Anna Munch tonight, the one of two from beyond
(02:14:37):
the arc.
Speaker 3 (02:14:37):
She had three rebounds to go with that.
Speaker 1 (02:14:38):
Lexie Wagner was quiet only one of seven from beyond
the arc, but it did not matter. Stout still got
it taken care of this evening with those five points
from her five from Mary Burke. She had a big
three late in the game in the fourth quarter as well.
Rosilla Willy had two a Usa Lonermeier had one at
the free throw line. Stout Out rebounded Whitewater forty three
to forty two, despite giving up quite a bit of
size to them.
Speaker 3 (02:14:58):
That has been their mo all season long.
Speaker 1 (02:15:00):
Stout was outscored by Whitewater thirty four to twenty six
in the paint. Turnovers were twelve to Stout fifteen turnovers
made by Whitewater, two of the best teams not to
turn the ball over and forcing turnovers as well as
kind of an interesting stat there. Stout wins three of
the four quarters Tonight. They won that fourth quarter nineteen
to seventeen after losing the third eighteen to sixteen.
Speaker 3 (02:15:22):
This evening.
Speaker 1 (02:15:23):
On the other side for Whitewater, Maggie Trouch had ten
with three rebounds out four of seven shooting. Casey Caravo
leads Away with twenty three points on thirteen rebounds. Hildebrant
also had a double double eleven points and eleven rebounds
for her on five of twelve shooting. Carabo took twenty
six field wolves in this game, eight of twenty six
for her one of twelve from beyond the arc. But
for one of the best three point shooters in the nation,
(02:15:45):
that's a tough pill to swallow on a night where
you where you hold South to just sixty two points
as well. Seven for McCurdy, eleven for hildeurrant four for Gillis.
As they shoot thirty five percent on the night, Scout
shoots just thirty two percent. And again, I think those
two things are a result of both teams playing each
other way the act too much here throughout the.
Speaker 3 (02:16:03):
Course of this campaign.
Speaker 1 (02:16:06):
As Stout goes three and four against Whitewater this season,
and I'm sure the Whitewater fans don't want to keep
track of it, but I'm keeping track. Stout beat Whitewater
in men's basketball at Stout Blue Devils beat Whitewater in
football this year. I mean Stout's doing pretty darn well
against the apparent athletic flagship.
Speaker 3 (02:16:25):
Of the WIAC.
Speaker 1 (02:16:27):
And I say that in all jests as I'm sure
if any Whitewater fans are watching or Susan are listening,
they probably don't feel too good about that. But nonetheless,
that is where it is. Hey, when you can beat
Whitewater like Scouts beat them this season, you mark it
down and you tell everybody about it because it doesn't
happen a whole heck of a lot. So a sixty
two fifty six win for Stout tonight as we see
(02:16:49):
the Blue Devils move on to the suite or to
the Elite eight for the first time in program history,
and I think I might have a I might have
a first time guest in Sam.
Speaker 3 (02:17:00):
Have you ever been on before? Sam? Nope?
Speaker 1 (02:17:02):
Sam Shaper joins us here as I know, Anna much
and Reagan Sorenson are down doing the press conference there
as well.
Speaker 12 (02:17:08):
Sam.
Speaker 1 (02:17:08):
Congratulations, first time in team history, in program history, you
guys have gotten the Elite eight. Tell me about your feelings, right, now, emotions,
how are you feeling out there?
Speaker 11 (02:17:18):
I mean we're just so I mean electric, Like that
was a tough battle and we knew it was and
to come out with the w I mean like we
got people crying, we got people yelling.
Speaker 1 (02:17:30):
You don't know what to feel, all the emotions. It's
pretty amazing. And I talked about it with Coach Nats
there earlier today. You guys got in on Wednesday, a
long bus ride not to get up here and you
know long travel. You guys have been a great team together.
You watch a video that the parents made for you
before the game, because I know it's been emotional. How
do you keep the emotions in check because you want
(02:17:51):
them to, you know, to fuel you, but you also
don't want them to overwhelm you on the court.
Speaker 3 (02:17:55):
How do you do that?
Speaker 12 (02:17:57):
Yeah?
Speaker 11 (02:17:57):
I think, I mean our team's very when we're close knit,
like the motions are together and against us, like we
feel like we can do anything. So, I mean, we
got music going like we do sage where the videos
helped us kind of bring us together, and the community community.
Speaker 7 (02:18:14):
That was here just it felt like we were in
Johnson Field House.
Speaker 1 (02:18:17):
Yeah, talk a little bit about that because I was saying,
what three to one probably stout fans, the Whitewater fans,
and not say Whitewater doesn't travel well typically for other sports.
But man, your your parents, and your friends and family
and everybody who came along with everybody else's dwarfed the
support from white Water.
Speaker 3 (02:18:33):
That's gotta be a heck of a feeling when you
came in the gym tonight.
Speaker 11 (02:18:36):
Yeah, it was an awesome feeling seeing all the white
all this heads.
Speaker 1 (02:18:40):
You have to get those big heads down there, right, Yeah,
we got to make a big Sam shape for him.
Speaker 3 (02:18:46):
Yeah, that one's next.
Speaker 11 (02:18:47):
But yeah, it just feels so loved at the community
and obviously we're doing something to them having them show
up and support us.
Speaker 3 (02:18:56):
So yeah, it's awesome.
Speaker 1 (02:18:57):
I've been talking about the outside things. Let me talk
one thing about the game there. You you had a
lot of the defensive assignment on Casey Calton. She's still
getting You knows she's gonna get points, but what do
you do to shut her down? Because she was just
one of twelve from beyond the arc. She had a
hard time shooting from beyond the three point line, which
you know is a big part of her game.
Speaker 11 (02:19:14):
Yeah, I'd say she's definitely my toughest opponent to guard.
I mean, she can do all three levels and she
just doesn't stop moving. So I think just kind of
letting her teammates do handle the scoring and stuff made
it I think tougher on her, like not always having
to take shots, which she's not used to, and then
(02:19:34):
just trying to stop her momentum is what we tried
to do. And again she's gonna score double digits and stuff,
but trying to not have her impact the game with
assists and rebounds and stuff like that.
Speaker 12 (02:19:48):
Good.
Speaker 1 (02:19:49):
Sam Schaeffer joining us after Stout wins her Sweet sixteen
matchup against Whitewater sixty two to fifty six. I'll ask
real quickly, Sam, what was it like, you know, having
the experience that you all did last year lose in
the Sweet sixteen at Whitewater against Transylvania. Did that help
you guys maybe feel a little bit less of the
nerves when you got into that fourth quarter tonight.
Speaker 11 (02:20:08):
Yeah, I think it did. Like we knew they were
gonna go on the run, just like last year, Transylvania
went on the run like at the end with two
or three minutes ago, So we knew that they're gonna
punch back. I think we just we felt calm and
sound and like kind of just did the little details
to get the done.
Speaker 3 (02:20:24):
Really impressive.
Speaker 1 (02:20:25):
A great job tonight, and now it's a quick recovery
to play one of these two teams.
Speaker 3 (02:20:29):
You guys are gonna hang.
Speaker 1 (02:20:29):
Around and watch, right, yep, all right, love it, all right,
great job, appreciate it. Great job from Sam Shaffer, and
we appreciate her taking some time with us here on
the postgame show.
Speaker 3 (02:20:38):
And so there you go. There you have it. A
great job by Sam Shaffer.
Speaker 1 (02:20:42):
And again, if you want to watch Hannah iverson, Anna
Much and Reagan Swordson on the postgame interview, that will
be posted not only on the Scranton web page on
their athletics website, but it'll also be posted on Stout's
website as well, Stout Bluedevils dot com. And for Scranton,
get you their website real quick. It's buried in here somewhere.
It's a Scranton dot ed. It's Athletics dot Scranton dot edu.
(02:21:06):
Is how you can find that's particular link and find
the tournament page and you can find the videos there
as well. Well, maybe take a couple of clips from
that for tomorrow night's game also. So that's kind of
where things set up real quickly. Let's take you around
the NCAA as the Elite eight is becoming more of
a clear picture. Ohio wesley And leading Baldon Wallace. That
(02:21:29):
would be an upset there sixty five sixty three with
twenty one seconds left to play in that game. Oshkosh
plays after that game is over against Illinois Wesleyan later tonight.
The host school there, Gus Davis, has punched their ticket
onto the Elite eight. They win, they'll play the winner
of Boden versus Smith. Boden one of the top four
teams in this tournament as well. They are already underway,
(02:21:51):
early first quarter. They're Boding up eight to six. Gettysburg
leading twenty five to nineteen over Randoff Making. The winner
that game plays NYU tomorrow that is being hosted. I
believe it's either at Randoff Making or Gettysburg because NYU,
their men's.
Speaker 3 (02:22:06):
Team is hosting the Sweet sixteen.
Speaker 1 (02:22:07):
So this is the one team, one school where this
hurks out that this year the women had priority the
first weekend, the men had priority.
Speaker 3 (02:22:14):
The second weekend.
Speaker 1 (02:22:14):
They switched that every year in Division three, so NYUS
men's team got to be home this weekend. NYUS women's
team had to go on the road there as well,
but NYU gets to win on the road. The overall
number one seed will take on either Randoff make it
or Gettiesburg tomorrow a trip to the Final four.
Speaker 3 (02:22:29):
Ready to go.
Speaker 1 (02:22:30):
So that will do it for us. Here and I
we'll give you a couple plugs here, a couple plugs.
One of those is that you can listen back to
this game probably later tonight. We'll get it posted up
on our podcast channel. Just download the iHeart app. You
can also go to WMQ dot com and find the
link there as well, search rew Style Blue Doubles. You
can listen back to previous games. We'll get this game
up on there because I'm sure you're gonna want to
relive it and relive the broadcast as well. Give us
(02:22:53):
a follow on social media, whether that's stout Blue, Deevils
dot com, the Blue Devils Women's basketball page, you can
check all of the content that's put up there. Of course,
stop Blue Devils dot com as well, where you can
see all of the trip here to the Sweet sixteen
and now to the Elite Eight for the first time
in program history. Tomorrow night's game is an eight o'clock
local time start, which will be seven o'clock back in Menominee.
(02:23:16):
Seventh Central. Six forty five is our pregame show, So
seven forty five here Eastern times, six forty five back
in menomine will be on the air. Might be on
the air a little bit before that. They tend to
start the clock a little bit earlier, so we'll probably
try to come around around six forty somewhere in there
to bring you pregame coverage. So six forty six to
forty five, I try to lean closer to six forty.
It will be on the air right here on Newstalk
(02:23:37):
WMQ to bring you the Elite eight gamesout. Is one
game away from the first Final four in program history.
And let me tell you somebody who has you know,
been watching D one basketball for a long time and
somebody who was ticketed to go to the Final four
in twenty thirteen of Ku and their men's team got
to the Final four but didn't get to go. Everything
(02:23:59):
you hear about the Final four is at it is
a step up and even at the Division III level,
there's more excitement, there's more media, there's more pictures, there's
more I mean, there's just so many things that are
a part of it. It gets really really this is
special to be at the Sweet sixteen. It gets really
really special to make it to the final four. And
they are just forty minutes away and they're gonna have
(02:24:19):
to go through an either really really tough Johns Hopkins
seen or really really tough Scranton team tomorrow, which should
be a.
Speaker 3 (02:24:24):
Lot of fun.
Speaker 1 (02:24:25):
So in Manaminie, seven o'clock is the tip and pregame
starting around six forty for you, that is Central time
tomorrow night. That is the timing of the games tomorrow evening.
So we look forward to that and we want to
thank all those who made the broadcast happen here tonight.
A special thanks to the athletic director, coach Dewey Nats
(02:24:46):
for joining us at halftime, for Sam Schaeffer joining us
at the post game showing, for Coach Iverson for joining
us during our pregame show. For our incomparable Dan Price
back in studio. I'm Pete Kadots in your final score
from the Sweet Sixteen matchup here in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
Speaker 3 (02:25:03):
