Speaker 1 (00:03):
Sorenson though on the left wing. She'll drive.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
I'll kick it to Maryberg in the corner. She wants
a three, She's got a three. A freshman stepping up
in the sweet sixteen.
Speaker 3 (00:11):
This is the twenty twenty five NCAA Division Three Women's
Basketball Tournament at LAIT eight live from Scranton, Pennsylvania.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
Shaef, We're gonna try to get Wagner open stead They'll
skip it across the geese and Geese is open. From three,
She'll go and set. They got a screen in four
inside missus the shotts. Sorenson gets it back, goes up.
No good, put back again. Yes, Sowrenson would not be tonighted.
Fifty four fifty three Stout two twenty to go.
Speaker 3 (00:35):
Tonight, the University of Wisconsin Stout Blue Devils have a
chance to make history and reach the Final four for
the first time in program history as they take on
the number two overall seed, the University of Scranton Royals.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
All smiles for the Blue Devils. Willing to imbounce. You'll
go to Maryburg. Whitewater will not foul two one and
for the first time in program history, but UW stop
Bluedos all late as they head today are late tomorrow night.
Speaker 3 (01:04):
Now, let's go live to Scranton, Pennsylvania and the John
Long Center for the call of tonight's game. Here's the
voice of the Blue Devils, Pete Knutsen.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
We are indeed at the John Long Center here in Scranton, Pennsylvania,
night number two of this final regional matchup. It's the
UWS dow Blue Devils, the twenty second ranked team in
the country at twenty two at seven overall, taking on
at the University of Scranton Royals, the number three overall
ranked team in the country at twenty nine and one
(01:36):
overall this season. Hello everybody, Pete Coknutsen live from Scranton, Pennsylvania.
Hia top the floor here at the John Long Center.
Dan Price is our producer back in studio. Should be
a great one here tonight. Nezzi Blue Devils made history
last night, winning a Sweet sixteen matchup for the first
time in program history against Whitewater sixty two to fifty six.
(01:58):
The Blue Devils did it with hard, nosed, deep and
they played against the team that they'd seen so many times.
That was a fourth time that Whitewater and Stout had
met up this season. And Stout gotten the better of
them three out of four times this year. They got
it when it mattered moost Here in the NCAA tournament
on Blue Devils are on an historic run. As we said,
anything past this point is again they have the goal
(02:20):
of getting to the final four, they have a goal
of winning the national championship. But from a fan standpoint,
anything past this point is kind of like you're playing
with house money. It's it's it's a bonus at this
point as they continue to make this great historic run
into this NCAA tournament in twenty twenty five. The Blue
Devils are led by Reagan Sorensen, Anna Much, Amanda Geeson,
(02:40):
and Lexi Wager. A fourheaded monster that has been really,
really tough to stop all season long. Reagan Sorenson and
Anna munch with two wonderful nights last night, as we
saw Reagan Sorensen ran in twenty five points it went
along with thirteen rebounds, and Anna Much having nineteen points
for her own and Anna Much last night moved into
(03:00):
fourth all time on the all time scoring list in
UW Stout history, passing Kelsey Duas. She now has one,
four and thirty points in her career. Reagan Sorenson is
second on the all time scoring list for Stout Anna
much as fourth Amana Geeson is six.
Speaker 1 (03:14):
They are going to be.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
A missed group when this season is done, but they
hope that that is a mark that happens next week,
not this week here against the Scranton Royals team. Scranton,
what are you going to say about them? They are
absolutely off the charts good they play in the Landmark Conference.
Speaker 1 (03:30):
They only lost one game.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
It was a conference game regular season at Elizabethtown, a
team that has been a perennial powerhouse in the Landmark
Conference as well Landmark, I should say a Catholic Elizabethtown
and Scranton where the three teams make from the Landmark Conference.
After those three teams, there is a massive drop off
in the Landmark Conference in terms of the quality of teams,
so Stranton and to say they haven't been tested wouldn't
(03:53):
be the right way to put it, but they don't
get tested night in and night out the way that
Stout does in the WIAC. With five teams out of
the eight making the NCAA Tournament, probably one more that
was pretty darn close to making the NCAA tournament as well.
Scranton is on a thirty two game winning streak here
at home goes back to the beginning of last season,
so they have been almost over to almost two full
(04:15):
calendar years since they have lost in this building.
Speaker 1 (04:18):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
Push Last night, however, against Johns Hopkins, they won forty
two to fifty two, excuse me, to forty six, a
low scoring affair. Both teams struggled to shoot back last night.
I think we added it up a combined eleven of
seventy seven between all four teams from beyond the Arc
last night. Nobody shot it well, so expect that to
be a little bit better, especially because these two teams
haven't met up and haven't kind of seen each other
(04:40):
stuff as Stout and Whitewater had last night.
Speaker 1 (04:42):
So that's how things set up tonight.
Speaker 2 (04:44):
A trip to the Final four in Salem, Virginia next week,
a Thursday night matchup against either NYU or Gettysburg in
the National semi Final. What a trip it would be,
But first they got to get through this matchup tonight.
Speaker 1 (04:56):
It's gonna be tough. Stouts the underdog, there's no doubt
about that.
Speaker 2 (04:59):
Here Scranton place again where this Royal team, it has
won thirty two games in a row, going to be
a tough one, but Anna Iverson believes that this team
is the one to do it. I have a chance
to sit down and talk with her before today's game,
and now let's listen in to that conversation, and Coachana
Iverson now joins us as we get set forward the
Elite eight matchup here between Stout and Scranton. Appreciate you
taking time with us as always, coach, And well, it
(05:21):
was I wouldn't maybe call it the prettiest of basketball, Yasha,
but I think we kind of assumed that that would
be the case with you guys matching up against Whitewater
for a fourth time. Both teams struggled to shoot, struggle
on a lot of things, which I'm sure I had
a lot to do with defense. But talk us through
the game and how your team grinded it out and
just kind of did the little things late to help
you pick up the victory last night.
Speaker 4 (05:43):
Yeah, I think you're right.
Speaker 5 (05:44):
I think you knew coming into this this was going
to be just a battle of toughness. It was going
to be not probably the prettiest basketball you got to.
You know, we're come from the most physical league. Both
of our teams are not afraid to do it that way,
and I think what was interesting is when you're coming
out to Pennsylvania, you're unsure how kind of the play
is going to be allowed to be played when you're
in the NCAA tournaments. So we were kind of figuring
it out early and I think that, yeah, that physicality
(06:06):
just showed itself, and I think the ability to knock
down to three for both teams was few and far between,
and I just think we battled it out. I mean,
phenomenal athletes on both sides of the floor, just being
able to stick to what we do and how we
do it and come out with a win. I think
it's all the credit to white Water. I mean that
they played an awesome game, and you know, having to
play a team four times in a season is a
(06:26):
tough match in itself, and I think that this was
a good one for us to take away, obviously, but
I liked the way we did it too. We just
kind of stuck to what we do and that's that's
a big part. I feel, like I tell you this,
every pregame is like just that piece of focus, but
it is. I mean, we live or die in what
we do and how we do it, and I think
that was what was exciting for our girls this way.
Speaker 2 (06:46):
And one thing we know that Whitewater didn't have. We
don't know as much about Scran. I'm sure they got
a few players off the bench you can do this,
but you know, we talk about that top four a lot.
But man, you got some great contributions just at the
perfect times from Mary Bird, from Rosella Willie with that
kind of scoop lay up. She had a big rebound
here there. Alison Letcher makes a play. Your other players
just do the right things, even though they know they're
(07:06):
not going to get a ton of minutes. They do
the right things when they're out there, don't they.
Speaker 5 (07:10):
Yeah, it's crazy what you can do when you don't
care who gets the credit. Like, I really think that's
what this team is brought into it, and I think
that's what we've just grown to learn, is that if
we just go out there and do everybody just as
their job, our end result is really good. You know,
we do have a lot of weapons on the floor.
We are deeper than a lot of teams in terms
of scoring threats. And so when we do have kids
(07:30):
who you can call them whatever you want, role kids, whatever,
but kids that we put in there to go do
little dirty work and they sign up for that job,
which is a tough job, I think it does some
really pretty things for us.
Speaker 4 (07:42):
Yeah, we had huge moments from a ton of those kids.
Speaker 5 (07:44):
I mean, defensive possessions from Alyssa Lodomeyer, we had the
O board on Letch, We had Mary Berg just being
a threat. I think that you look at that kid
in general, I mean, that's a freshman on an Elite
eight team playing in a Sweet sixteen and she loved
She didn't look scared. I mean, didn't hit some of
the those shots, but we want her to take those.
She's greenld on those. Those are good takes for us.
And I think that's just an exciting look at what's
(08:06):
coming for the future for us. And I think, yeah,
we got a lot of things clicking right now. And
I think just the ability for everybody to just understand
what their jobs, what their strengths are, and how we
can understand each other's as well.
Speaker 4 (08:16):
It gets us playing good basketball.
Speaker 2 (08:18):
You were here as a player, obviously as a D
one player. You know kind of at this point in
the NCAA term, but the step from the Elite eight
to the Final four is a really special one. Do
you talk about that with the players, because we know
if you get to that point, there's a lot that
comes with that, right fun of travel, but even just
kind of the pomp and circumstance of it. If you
talk about that, or is it, Hey, let's just focus
on the team. Let's not worry about what the reward is.
(08:40):
Let's work hard first.
Speaker 5 (08:42):
Yeah, no, we don't. They know all the things. That's
like the perks of social media. We don't have to
talk about any of that. They see it all. They
know all the things. There's people out there talking about
all the things, so they get the words from everywhere else.
What we do focus on is what we can control.
We focus on how we show up. We focus on
how we prepare and how ready we're going to be
to take on Scranton.
Speaker 4 (08:59):
And I think that's just all we can do.
Speaker 5 (09:01):
And I think for us to like, you don't want
to make something bigger than it is, like, this is
just another basketball game against a great team. And the
perk that we've had all year long is that's what
the yak is for us, and this is I feel
like I feel like with us and Whitewater and Oshkosh
back to back Sweet sixteens and US and wh Oshkosh
going to the Elite eight, and it just does speak
and give our conference the credit it deserves and has
(09:23):
deserved for however long. But we do see that every
single night, So we do have I think an advantage
of just showing up to games and understanding that there's
going to be a quality opponent on the other side
and putting together a plan and a product that can
combat it. So we're just taking it one step at
a time and focusing on us. And obviously I think
the big piece is just soaking up every moment, and
I think that's one of my message to them. You'd
(09:44):
mention the fact that I've been here on the side
of his player. I wish someone would have told me
to just soak it up, like all the little in
between moments. Just feel it, like, really enjoy it and
just understand that what you're doing is so much bigger
than you. You look at how many fans we've traveled
and and think the video stream does a fair fact
because they had the White water side. But I mean
we have we had two bleachers full of stout fans
(10:07):
down here, and I mean you just the outpouring of
messages and you know, people reaching out to us our chances,
are taking a flight at three am to get here
to support us, Like it's cool. This is these are
things that affect more people than just the sixteen players
on this team and the three coaches, And it's just
I mean, it's really neat to be a part of
to know that you're impacting people like this. So I
want them to understand it and enjoy it and soak
(10:29):
it in. But in terms of the basketball, no, we
just look at it as another game.
Speaker 2 (10:34):
Scranton gives me Whitman vibes as I look at them.
Has that been the case? Is you you're the elite
basketball mind here, So tell us a little bit about
what you expect tonight. What are the keys going to
be for you at to be a really good Scranton
team as they all are at this point? Right?
Speaker 5 (10:47):
Yeah, No, I think you're probably the elite basketball mine
at this point too. But yeah, no, we talked a
lot about that. I mean, they are a lot like women.
They maybe have a few more threats and a few
kids that do things that maybe a little higher level.
But I think again it's hard to note what these
teams look like when they play a team from our conference.
Just who's unafraid to be physical, who's going to push pace,
who's going to be just as gritty and competitive. I
(11:09):
think it's interesting to see how they handle it. One
thing that they haven't seen a lot of is we
front in the post, and so I think it's interesting
to see how that's going to play out and what
advantages that gives us or disadvantages that gives us. Again
or not the biggest team on the floor, but they
don't have a ton of size advantage on us, but
the places that they do, they are effective with it.
So I do think we have to control that. We
(11:30):
have to do the same thing we had to do
for Whitman. I mean, our scout, our keys to success
haven't changed, probably in this whole NCAA tournament.
Speaker 4 (11:36):
We need no one understand personnel.
Speaker 5 (11:38):
We need to value the basketball, win, offense, rebounds, and
we have to play harder than teams. And when we
do those things, we are really hard to beat.
Speaker 2 (11:45):
All right, Looking forward to appreciate taking the time as always, coach,
and good luck as always. Thanks be all right, that's go,
chan I Eberson. We'll have more when we come back.

Speaker 2 (13:01):
We welcome you back in to Scranton, Pennsylvania as we
get set for basketball. It's the Elite eight of the
Division three NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament. South versus Scranton the
trip to the Final four in Sanlo, Virginia on Thursday
on the line Thursday for the semi finals, Saturday next
week for the final, the championship game. Again, the winner
(13:21):
of this game will play the winner of the NYU
versus Gettysburg game. At halftime, NYU is up and only
by four thirty one to twenty seven on Gettysburg. That
game being played in Gettysburg because NYU's men's team is
hosting the regionals and they had priority this week. It's
NYU on the road despite being the number one overall
seed in the tournament. Smith upset Voten last night, so
(13:43):
it's Gastavas versus Smith to night and gas Stavis is
up by eight with six thirty left to play in
the third low scoring game there in twenty five to
seventeen Gastavius with the lead in that game, and Oshkosh
takes on Baldon Wallace and the other Elite eight matchup.
That one will start a half an hour after our
game tonight. That is a home many other scores to
let you know about. In the women's basketball in Division three,
(14:06):
lacrosse didn't make it as well to the Elite Eight
on the men's side, so we'll see if we can
give you updates on that game as well.
Speaker 1 (14:12):
They are playing down at Mitchell Hall here tonight, so
we are.
Speaker 2 (14:16):
Ready for the starting lineups here for both teams that
start with the Scranton Royals, coach by Ben O'Brien in
his third season and this is not a misprint. He's
eighty five and five in just three seasons at the
helm of the Scranton Royals team that lost out on
the Final four in the Elite Eight last year, a
team that has been to the Final four nine times
in their history. They won a national championship in nineteen
(14:38):
eighty five. Kaylee Romanowski is a junior from link Ariel, Pennsylvania.
Shill start alongside Casey Granson, the Landmark Player of the
Year this year. The Junior Final eleven from Scranton, PA.
Right here in town, Maddy Hartn is a five to
eight grad student from Chatham, New Jersey. She'll start alongside
Megan Lamana, five to five sophomore for New Providence, New Jersey.
Here at quickly is a final starter six foot grad
(14:59):
student from Grexel, Pennsylvania. Blue Devils are coached by Hannah
Iverson one eleven and sixty one in our seventh season
graduate at UW Green Bay and Oak Blair North High
School as well. Sam Shaffer, the senior from DeForest at
five but nine, will start alongside Amanda Geese in the
sixth leading score in program history. For Stout five to
eleven senior from New Prog Minnesota. It is Reagan Sorenson,
(15:21):
the five to seven senior from Unity, the second leading
scorer in program history, who starts alongside her with Anna Much,
the five eight senior from Apple Valley, Minnesota, the fourth
leading score in program history, and the final starter is
Lexi Wagner, the grad student from Galesville, get and a
transfer from Young Sound State. Five to ten rounds out
(15:41):
the lineup for the Blue Devils against Schaeffer, Geese and
Sorens and Munch and Wagner for Stout, Romanowski, Crantson, Hartnett,
Lamana and Quigley. The starting lineup for the Royals here tonight.
Brian Wallace, Alyssa, Han Chantel Thomas are your officials who
get the Elite eight assignment here tonight from the John
Long Center here this evening on a great weekend of basketball.
(16:02):
Scranton has done a great job hosting and we certainly
appreciate all that they have done. And the Blue Devils
trying to figure out a way to continue the Cinderella dream.
You know, you look at all the overall numbers right
now Stout of the last eight teams, probably the seventh
best if you'll go with the NPI and the overall
Massy efficiency and all the computer rankings and all that
kind of thing.
Speaker 1 (16:21):
But they don't care about any of that.
Speaker 2 (16:22):
They just want to go out there and play their
game and figure out a way to beat the number
three ranked team in the country in the Scranton Royals
here tonight should be a great one. A Cerve over
RPA announcer, But the announcement in playing up the national anthems.
Speaker 1 (16:38):
Sat quickly. You hear the Stouts section sharing.
Speaker 2 (16:46):
At least two levels of holchers in line up.
Speaker 1 (16:49):
But this is a home game for Scranton, there is
no doubt about that.
Speaker 2 (16:51):
As you can hear, remove your ass to honor America
and those who support our freedom at home.
Speaker 4 (16:59):
And with the play of our national an.
Speaker 2 (18:17):
The national from Scranton, Pennsylvania. We take a quick break
when we come back. It's Stout versus Scranton with a
trip to the Final four on the line, right here
on your home for Blue Devils basketball.
Speaker 1 (18:30):
Sorenson though on the left wing, she'll drive. I'll kick
it to Mary Berg in the corner. She wants a three.
Speaker 2 (18:34):
She's got a thread. A freshman stepping up in the
sweet sixteenth.
Speaker 3 (18:38):
This is the twenty twenty five NC DOUBLEA Division three
women's basketball tournament at lad eight live from Scrits in Pennsylvania.
Speaker 1 (18:47):
Say if we're.
Speaker 2 (18:47):
Gonna try to get Wagner open stead, they'll skip it
across the geese and geese was open from three. Shee'll
go and said they got a screen in four inside
missus the shotts. Sorenson gets it back, goes up, no
good put back again. Yes, Sowrenson would not be tonight.
Fifty four fifty three Stout two twenty to go.
Speaker 3 (19:02):
Tonight, the University of Wisconsin Stout Blue Devils have a
chance to make history and reach the Final four for
the first time in program history as they take on
the number two overall seed, the University of Scranton Royals.
Speaker 1 (19:15):
All smiles for the Blue Devils.
Speaker 2 (19:17):
Willing to imbounce, you'll go to mary Berg Whitewater will
not foul two one and for the first time in
program history. But UW stop Blue Deedles all lights as
they headed the elitty tomorrow night.
Speaker 3 (19:31):
Now, let's go live to Scranton, Pennsylvania and the John
Long Center for the call of tonight's game. Here's the
voice of the Blue Devils, Pete Knutson.
Speaker 2 (19:42):
No starry lineups are being announced, heir Brum Scramton as
the John Long Center. We appreciate you tuning in here
on New Stock WWQ, Amnadium, Nominee translator, W two nine
two EG one O six point three FMO player and
iHeartRadio station. And likely in fewer than two hours, we
will know which ALI two teams is headed to the
Final four next week in Salem, Virginia, and boy, the
(20:04):
Blue Doubles could certainly use a good, nice start tonight
and getting the shooting going early. Johns Hopkins last night
against this Royals team was up nineteen to ten at
the right near the end of the first quarter, and
then we saw the Royals go on a big run,
got up twenty to nineteen, and then it was back
and forth pretty much until the last three four minutes
(20:25):
of the game when Scranton finally pulled away from Johns Hopkins.
But Johns Hopkins gave them a lot of problems. Johns
Hopkins in terms of their overall ranking very similar to
Stout Pas DULBM comes into this game twenty third in
the NPI.
Speaker 1 (20:37):
Coming into the tournament.
Speaker 2 (20:39):
The Royals were third in the NPI, the new ranking
system that gets them into the tournament as it were,
They're ranked fifth in the WBCA Coaches Bowl and third
and D three Hoops that was just receiving votes in
the Coaches Bowl at the end of the season and
twenty second in the D three hoops dot Com pole
as well. So we are ready for basketball here tonight.
(21:00):
Pretty full gym again. There are stands on both sides
and at the end to our right. The end to
our right is taken up by about so let's see
five six rows of students in one of the sections.
They look like again, likely the lacrosse players and a
few of the student athletes who have to stay over
spring break to play their sports. Other than that, all
the other students have gone home for spring break, so
(21:22):
that might benefit Stout just a little bit. But you'll
hear that let's go blue, kind of a duke blue
double chant over there from across the way where the
two sections of Stout parents and fans have come out
to tonight's game as well. Chancellor Frank this year doing
NATS is sitting on his hands. The athletic director and
the assistant athletic director Air and Sullivan probably won't be
able to sit still here tonight we are ready for basketball.
(21:45):
The Elite eight is about to get underway. Paul is
in the air and it is won by the Royals,
and we are underway. Royals in the white uniforms with
the scrantoness on the chest. They move left to right
with the purple numbers. Stout in the road blue uniforms,
white numbers there as well. They move right to left
here in the first to the elbow they go. This
is quickly, quickly skips it in the right corner. A
three coming in, A three, A shit, thanks Megan. Laman
(22:06):
are right away and you can tell that the Royals
and are focusing on the shooting tonight.
Speaker 1 (22:10):
A little pressure in the bank.
Speaker 2 (22:11):
We're here from Romanowski on Shaper who brings it across
the timeline and the blue doubles is set up the offense.
It's Geeson at the top of the key, gets a
screen from Wagner, moves right back to Wagner wanted to
shoot the three instead, back to Geeson. Geeson from the
right wing, drives in down for the block, scoops up
with the left hand, it rolls off, tips out of
there and it's grabbed by Scrimt, ground by hartnett or
(22:32):
rebound there. So a three nothing lead for Strinton early
on the man the basketball. Not a bad possession for Stout.
They got what they wanted, just didn't get the finish.
There another left wing three coming from Lamana.
Speaker 1 (22:43):
That his good.
Speaker 2 (22:44):
She is coming to play tonight. Lamana a three to
nine percent three point shooter and just a sophomore last year,
one of the best three point shooters in the Landmark
and she is again here this year as well six
to nothing, already scrinting with the lead. Wagner takes a
contested three, not a good shot for her, and it's
rebounded inside by Cranson For the Royals, they Stout just
(23:05):
not catching in rhythm yet, but there's a nice seal
like Gieson on the other end quickly couldn't handle the
pass and she gets to steal shape her up to
Wager in transition on the high line and right side.
She looks to drive, can't find anybody there. She'll go
over the left wing to Geeson, high low, goes inside
to Sorenson. Easy lay up there and it's six to
two here in faber of Scratt and early on eight
twenty four left to go first corps.
Speaker 1 (23:25):
A good float of the game early.
Speaker 2 (23:27):
Not nearly as physical as what we saw between Stout
and Whitewater last night. A lot more spacing on this
court as both teams get used to what they're gonna
run on both sides of the ball. There's a deflected
pass and it's a party not the fucted. Rather's Sorenson
the pass her. They're going to try to say that
it touched her fingertips. The officials are not going to
take a look here and it's Stout basketball. Stout might
(23:50):
have gotten away with one there. They threw it away anyway.
Sorenson reached out, was very close to touching her fingertips,
and there's a nice pass at geese and left wing
drive takes contact trying to look for space. She throws
it away a little out of control there by geeseon
into the lane. You can tell the nerves are there.
Seven to fifty eight left to go first quarter, Scranton six,
Stout two. Scranton fans will make their voices. As a
(24:14):
road game. This it's a true road game for Stout.
There's no doubt about that. This might be the best
crowd they play in front of his Anna Mutch gets
called for a foul on the hedge out on a
drive by Lamana just kind of moving off a screen
on the I right wing and had a bump from
Munch and she gets called for her first foul.
Speaker 1 (24:30):
Her substitution is Stout.
Speaker 2 (24:32):
It'll be Mary Byrd checking in Forana much who has
the one foul and and we'll call out who they have. Defensively,
Blue Devils will play likely an eight person rotation. There
is no Alyssa Lodermeyer tonight. She gave it a go
last night. She was dealing with an injury and is
not suited up tonight, unfortunately. But it is possible Stout
could go nine deep, maybe bring Madison Malika or somebody
(24:53):
like that. And here's a left wing three and a
catch and shoot that is off the mark, no deeson
with the rebound off the miss ram here by the blue.
Speaker 1 (25:00):
The mists came from Cranson.
Speaker 2 (25:01):
Here comes Stout Geeson all the way coast to coast,
So the right side of the lane they cut her
off has to go out to Wagner. Wagner puts it
on the deck behind the back dribble two pointer on
the way. It's an airport airball on the mounds and
Scranton basketball seven two to go here in quarter one,
Scranton six, Stout two deeson or pardon me, Wagner rather
has struggled a bit, really in this whole NCAA tournament,
(25:24):
struggled to find her shot, struggled to get space. They
switch off on an off ball screen on the left
side of the offense there and Smarten it now enters
it in in the post to Kranton. Cranson backing down
on Wagner and she'll get it to fall off. Berg
almost had the rebound and last touched by the Royals.
It's out basketball. I think Wagner might have gotten away
(25:44):
with one there on that initial shot looked like she
reached him, but the official said it wasn't a foul.
Speaker 1 (25:49):
Blue Beubles to take it back.
Speaker 2 (25:50):
Geson, we''ll give it to Shaper and she'll take some
of the business there from Romanowski and they'll pass it
up to Geeson, who will take it across the timeline.
Nice part per scout has they got a lot of
ball handlers there. That passer Gison trying to find Sowornson
across the lane, can't find it. Now it rolls off again.
It's stolen away by Wagner. Some sloppy play here six
to two, Scranton six forty five left to play here
in the first quarter, stout with the basketball in the
(26:11):
front court, Mary Berg got on the right wing, Geson
trying to get open in the right corner. They'll go
to Wagner up at the top. Inside, they go to Sorenson.
She'll hang in the lanes. She'll fire over top of
Romanowski and score on the All American puts up two more.
She's got all four for Stout six to four Stranton.
Strand's got two threes made from Lamana. Stout has two
two's made from Sorenson. They go in the right corner
(26:35):
another three.
Speaker 1 (26:36):
That is good again.
Speaker 2 (26:37):
Lemana hits again and Stout's gotta figure out a way.
Speaker 1 (26:40):
To defend her.
Speaker 2 (26:41):
She is three for three from beyond the arc and
now makes it nine to four here in favor of Scranton.
Six oh six to go. First quarter.
Speaker 1 (26:48):
Mary Berg with a basketball. They give the Swornson on
the right wing.
Speaker 2 (26:51):
She drives intoard the hoop, blocked inside and stolen away
by Romanowski. What a block there by Hartnett up on
the high left. This is Romanowski switches across another three.
No way that one's off the heel. But an offensive
rido on at clip pack is good for Romanowski. The
bantam missed if but Romanowski was there. Stout kind of
got cut watching there and Stout needs a ton out
eleven to four, Stranton five forty five. Let's we go
(27:13):
first quarter. It is all Royals to start this game.
Time out taken by the Blue Devils. I believe we're
gonna turn that into a media time out. We will
take a break. It is a good start for Scranton
and we'll see if Stout can.
Speaker 1 (27:24):
Respond After this. You're on your home for Blue Devils basketball.
Speaker 3 (27:30):

Colfax Chevrolet.
Speaker 3 (28:08):
Now back to the nc Double A Tournament right here
on News Talk wm EQ.
Speaker 2 (28:16):
Welcome back once again here to Scranton, Pennsylvania, Elite eight round.
Speaker 1 (28:19):
Here are the NCAA Tournament.
Speaker 2 (28:21):
Fine forty five left to play in the first quarter
at Scranton eleven Stout Forest downloud to basketball out of
a time out. Reagan Sorenson two for three to start
the game with four points. Lexie Wagner is zero for two,
Aman of Geez and Oh for one, and the Blue
doubles turning it over once as well. Two turnovers for
Scranton thus far, and they've got nine points from Megan
Laman and Lamana thirty nine percent shooting on the season.
(28:44):
Last year played thirty games as a freshman for this
Royals team and a team who as a squad is
fifteenth in the country in three point shooting at thirty
four point three percent. They make over eight a game,
which is sixteenth in the country. They live, I want
to say, live and die. They live by the three.
They haven't died a lot by the three, as they
(29:04):
have scored quite a bit from that spot and so
far at La Bendo, Lamana show as she has nine
on the first eleven points. Schaefer getting some pressure here
from Romanowski in the back court. She'll bring it across
the timeline and she go to Sorenson at the elbow.
They wanted to flash much to the bucket. Sorenson goes in,
misses a shot over Cranson and Oh.
Speaker 1 (29:21):
She deflected the pass there, it'll stay with.
Speaker 2 (29:23):
Scranton out of bounds on the left base line, but
I'll have the whole length of the court to go
eleven to four. Scranton leads, so Sorenson again. She's five
foot seven. She's a great score underneath. The problem is
she's a little undersized, and if she doesn't get that
little move to create some space, that.
Speaker 1 (29:39):
Can be hard for her to score.
Speaker 2 (29:40):
Sometimes, even though she is so good scoring near the basket,
Willie hedges out, Romanowski gets passed her. They kick it
in the right corner, extra pass out on the right
wind to Kranton. Cranton spins at the free throw line,
trying to go up on much.
Speaker 1 (29:51):
She can't.
Speaker 2 (29:52):
Crows it out to the right corner out of Romanowski.
Five to shoot. Romanowski gotta go. They tip it about
and it's grabbed by Sorenson. She's got the steal, Soorrenson
gonna turn on the jets there the other way and
she has fouled and it doesn't go, but she's fouled
by Romanowski. A nice drive by Sorenson and she'll head
the line for two free throws. With four fifty nine
to go in the first quarter, Geeson and Wagner were out.
(30:13):
They're about to check back in. We'll see what they
come in. Four, it'll be Shafer and Adam much Ana
much has one early foul, so they want to avoid
any issues there.
Speaker 1 (30:23):
Romanowski quickly and Hartnett. We'll check out here for scrant.
Speaker 2 (30:29):
And we'll see Katie Gorsky check in for Scranton along
with Elizabeth Bennett. Elizabeth Bennett a Landmark All Landmarks second
teamer and she's only started one game. She's come off
the bench, kind of like what Reagan Soornsen did her
freshman year. She came off the bench the entire season
and one Newcomer of the Year in the Yak doing
that and being one of the league leaders in scoring
(30:51):
in the never starting a game.
Speaker 1 (30:53):
She misses the first free throw.
Speaker 2 (30:55):
Second on the way is good eleven to five, Scranton
four to fifty nine to go. First, Gorsky will find Lamana.
Lamana has had the hot hand early on and she'll
bring it across the timeline guarded by the freshman Mary Burg.
Lamana up to the top of the key, moves it
off on the left side of Jenna Sloan, the other
newcomer from Central Square, New York, a junior. She'll move
(31:16):
it on the right wing and hand off to Gorsky
on the wing, guarded by Wagner. Gorsky moves left, chops
it over. Lamana thought about the three pulls it up,
stops had it poked away into the corner. They hold
possession though. Six to shoot now right corner drive coming
from Sloan tough shot on a quarter from the right baseline.
Speaker 1 (31:32):
Thirteen to five.
Speaker 2 (31:33):
Stranton leeds, we're having them fall early. Here's Mary Berg
over to Rosella Willie on the right wing. Willy skips
it across to Geese and Geese and ball fake from three.
She drives toward the hoop, blocked inside of the file.
I think it was all right from Gorsky, but it
was her initial defender there in Bennett who's called for
the foul. Gorsky got a good block, but then it
(31:56):
was the one who created her who made the contact underneath.
And so it is Gorsky who gets a parting Bennett
rather who gets called for the fouls. Out with a
couple subs and it is Starters back out there again.
Thirteen to five. Scranton and Amanda geeseen at the line
to shoot, and she'll make the first free throw. Seventy
one percent free throw shooter on the season, she was
ten in the conference in that category and Stout as
(32:19):
a squad seventy two point nine percent, fifty sixth in
the nation. As Gieson hits the free throw and makes
it a thirteen to seven Scranton ball game four fourteen
to go. Here in the first quarter, Scranton has had
the early punches. Stouts trying to answer back.
Speaker 1 (32:33):
He had to go on a little run of their own,
slown across the timeline, you know, the short corner. Tough play.
Gorski in the corner, Lamana, Can she make another?
Speaker 2 (32:40):
Yea for a Scout's got to start guarding the lefty
Lamana because she has made four threes early in this game.
Sixteen to seven. Scranton leans much drives baseline reverse layup.
Oh want to play?
Speaker 1 (32:51):
Got her on Gorsky and she tiptoed.
Speaker 2 (32:53):
The baseline sixteen to nine Scranton. That's the kind of
play you can get from Anamuch. When you need an answer,
she'll go do that for you. On the reverse hesitation
dribble of kick in the corner open is Cranson, she'll
take it three. This is a three rebounded by Sorenson.
Sorenson's got a for stout down seven. Arrenson across the
timeline all the way, trying to go coast to coast.
Six contact doesn't matter as she rolls it in right
(33:16):
over top of Bennett and the Blue Devils get it
to an N five sixteen to eleven three twenty to go.
Speaker 1 (33:22):
First quarter.
Speaker 2 (33:23):
A little bit of the zone defense, the buzz defense
they like to call it, almost to travel there. Lamana
picks up the dribble, so the zone defense coming, they
go inside. Now kick it out. Lamana was open. Wagner
closes out on her. Lamana is fouled by Wagner and
she was a fouled initially they let it go and
then she kind of did a head faint and that
got enthel Thomas the official to blow the whistle. Romanowski
(33:45):
checks back in for Scranton. Willie checks back in for
Blue Devils as Wagner will come to the bench, and
on the other side it was Cranson who went to
the bench fors Scranton. Romanowski to inbound from the right
baseline in the front court here with I wanted to
shoot three oh seven ago in the first quarter. A
lot of time left, Oh, Lamana left wide open again?
Speaker 1 (34:05):
Are you kidding me? Are you kidding me?
Speaker 2 (34:08):
Five of six from beyond the art nineteen to eleven Scrant.
Speaker 1 (34:12):
They've gotta garden, I mean they have to guard her.
Might not want to.
Speaker 2 (34:16):
Is that's tipped out of bounds by Gorski. I'd imagine
what they said is we're gonna let her beat us,
and at this point she's beating you, So gotta do
something now to the Blue Devils, just stop Lamana from
continuing to shoot the three. Ten point four a game
for her as well, and she's already got fifteen on
five main threes in this game. SARTs and at the
top of the key they set up a wall four
they go to much out on the left wing, she'll
(34:36):
step into a three of her own, and she got
it nineteen fourteen Scrant two forty two to go here
in the first Manna Much when you need a bucket,
you can count on her to give it to you.
A thirty percent three point shooter skipping across the right side,
almost out of bounds here on the near side for
Sloan again, Lamana is she gonna get another one.
Speaker 6 (34:56):
No.
Speaker 2 (34:57):
Six to seven hand Iverson. I'm not gonna take a
time out here. They want to save it, but they
gotta change something defense in the twenty two to fourteen
Scranton as here is Sorenson on the high right wing.
She going too much right side of the lane going
up and she'll score.
Speaker 9 (35:12):
It.
Speaker 2 (35:13):
Took contact and again they just let it go. Twenty
two to sixteen Scranton, two o six to play. Here
in the first across the timeline comes Sloan. They've gotta
cover Lamana. They're trying to sag off for a little
bit here up on the left wing. Lamana's opening the
right corner. They're gonna want to get it to her.
They did, but a much closed out on her nicely.
She's got one foul. Gotta be careful. Throw it across
(35:35):
the left side to Sloan. Now a drive coming in
here from Sloan. They'll move it on the right side
of Romanowski driving right baseline, tipped out of bounds. It's
top basketball. She lost it out of bounds, they'll say.
And the Blue Devils on one bound with one to
go on the first quarter. I'll tell you what for
giving up six out of seven, shooting in three's to
Lamana to only be down six. Right now, that's not
that's not the end of the world for the Blue Doubles.
(35:57):
Here is Shaffer across the timeline one thirty seven to go.
In the first move it to Willie on the high left.
Put a little bit of pressure on her up there.
Geeson now at the top of the key off in
the right wing for Shafer. Shafer's open, but couldn't take
the three as she had the space flows out on
her pret quickly Much moves it across the geeseon on
the right wing. He'sa looking into the post. They go
to Storings and high low with much and much was
hell on the entry paths by Sloan and he'll be
(36:21):
out of bounds to Stout on the baseline, a new
twenty with one twenty left to play here in the
first quarter, twenty two to sixteen Scranton and the Blue
Doubles with the basketball, Yeah, they're gonna get one more
subbring Heartnett backed into the game and get slown out
of there with that first five three pounds on Scranton
in the first quarter, two on Stout, Sam Shafer inbounds
(36:41):
Ana much left baseline back to Shafer.
Speaker 1 (36:43):
She'll go up with the lay up easy. They lost
to the inbounder there on the play.
Speaker 2 (36:47):
And it's twenty two to eighteen Scranton Leagues Stout hanging
with the team that is on fire, at least one
player on fire from three and she's got the ball,
but way outside their high wine and left was Lmana.
She'll give it to Romanowski. Romanosk weaves to Heartnett Hartnett
now up top to to Gorsky. Excuse me, and would
have crossed now to Romanowski on the left wing, up
top to Heartnett Hartnett trying to drive, cut off by Geson,
(37:08):
back up top here for Bennett. Bennett back to heartnit
heartne It into the corner a drive from Gorsky in
the baseline. She stepped out of arnds it's not basketball,
and she immediately turns to Shan until Thomas says I
was pushed entil. Thomas says, no, no, I'm not not
buying that, and here comes Lexi Wagner, Lexie Wagner back
in for Rosello Willie.
Speaker 1 (37:29):
High scoring first quarter.
Speaker 2 (37:30):
When you compare it to what happened last night. Stat's
gonna need some help on this inbound. They'll go to
Sorenson out near the timeline. From the baseline inbound, here's
Geeseon in the corner, out to Wagner on the right
wing much at the top of the key. Just Shaffer
on the left, Shafer looking inside. Nothing there yet. They'll
go to Geeseon at the left block. She catches reverse
layup block. But the five that looked like a pretty
(37:52):
clean block by Gorsky and they called it instead on
Bennett and Gorseky's had two really good blocks, but it's
been benet On the help that's been called for the fouls.
She's now got two fowls. A second team All Landmark
team player.
Speaker 1 (38:07):
Here in the first quarter.
Speaker 2 (38:14):
Shoot two, Selamana has now tied her career high for
threes in a game with those six, just as sophomore,
and she is one heck of a shooter. First free
throw good for Geeson. Now we're gonna going to see
Madison Malika check into this game as Geeson hits the
(38:34):
free throw as well. So after all that, it's twenty
two to twenty Scranton with the lead thirty point eight
left to play here in the first and Stout has,
you know, work blow for blow with this Scranton team
so far after they have been shooting the lights out
at least to Lamana has she's got eighteen already. And
then you got two from Romanowski, two from Sloan, nothing else.
They haven't really needed anything else here early on. So
(38:56):
again about a a second half second differential between game,
and so they can hold for the last shot barring
a turnover. A early shot here from Romanowski and the Royals,
Romanowski guarded by Berg.
Speaker 1 (39:09):
I'm a high left for Heartnett Hartnett with seven with
six oh off the knee.
Speaker 2 (39:13):
There are the Royals. That one's gonna go on the
back court and that's a backcourt violation. And there's three
point six left and Stout's gonna inbound in their own
front court right in front of the table on the
car sideline. They're gonna have an opportunity.
Speaker 10 (39:25):
Here number twenty two.
Speaker 1 (39:29):
Mozilla, Willy gonna check in.
Speaker 2 (39:31):
So it is Reagan Sorens and Mary Berg's gonna check out,
and we're gonna get a few more shooters in there,
and want to get a playin.
Speaker 1 (39:37):
Somebody inbound. Shafer is the one to do it.
Speaker 2 (39:39):
Three point six to go here in the first rant
in twenty two Stout twenty Shaeffer to inbound here with
three point six left, They'll go to Wagner, she'll catch
and its blocked. Blocked on the three point shot, and
that's gonna do it here for the quarter, tried to
turn around. She had a hand on right her face
a heartnet. But again for how poorly Stout defended one
player in Megan Lamana, who scored six threes in that
(40:00):
first quarter, I'm pretty impressed it. Scranton's only up by
two here at the end of the first quarter. Gonna
be a good one. Twenty two to twenty. Scranton leads it.
Second quarter comes your way when we come back here
on your home for blue doubles basketball.

Now back to the NCED Double A Tournament right here
on newstalk WME EQ.
Speaker 2 (40:59):
Hell, welcome back here to Scranton, Pennsylvania. Special thanks to
John McClain who was our voiceover guy for those elements
that we've put together for the Sweet sixteen and the
Layed eight. Great job from him and all the contributions
we've had from Dan Price and all the folks that
I heard radio for letting us be on the air
here over the last couple of weeks. Spend a lot
of fun and we hope it continues next week twenty
(41:20):
two to twenty though. Scranton has the lead over Stout
at the end of one as Sam Schaefer gets the
inbounds here and we are off to go. In the
start of the second quarter, Stout shot fifty three percent
in that first quarter. As Wagner catches underneath, they go
out to Ana Much Baalbak from three. She drives into
the lane, hesitates, and she has fouled before the shot
from Hartnett, and it will be on the bounds here
(41:41):
to the Blue Devils with nine forty six to go
in the second This fourteen seconds in to.
Speaker 1 (41:45):
The second quarter.
Speaker 2 (41:46):
So seven points for sorens and seven for Much, four
per Deson, two for Shaper, eighteen points for Lamana, six
of seven shooting from beyond the artcause Anna Much gets
the inbounds there on the short corner, goes out to
Wagner on the right wing. Wagner needs a screen and set.
You'll go to Willy here at the top of the key.
Willy moves it right for Shafer. Shaper on the high
wide and right side, goes up top to Sorenson. Sorenson
(42:06):
looks to drive, gets cut off, goes with a two
pointer that rolls off. Willie gets the offensive rebound on
a rebound. It was out to Shaper. Willie is open,
won't take the three. He should dribble right and go
to Sorensen. Sorenson to the free throw line, takes the
two and it rattles in. We're tied at twenty two.
Two Devils have not led in the game. It's been
(42:28):
all Scranton to start twenty two, all nine oh nine
to go on the second quarter. Sowrenson now in nine
and they throw it out of bounds, but it was
shipped by Sorenson over on the far sideline, right in
front of the Stout bench man. With twenty one to shoot, Stranton,
wool Ranks maintain possession starters out course Stout except for
Amanda Geese and you got Rosella Willy in there instead.
Speaker 1 (42:50):
Partn it.
Speaker 2 (42:50):
Now with the basketball for Scranton. They get it to Cranton,
guarded by Wagner on the right wing. She drives, Wagner
stays in front, does a nice job, gets a round
her and it rolls in. Nice play from we're answering
twenty four to twenty two, Scranton eight fifty two to go.
In the inbounds pass from Really to Shaper is deflected
out of mounds almost to steal from Romanowski. She has
had one heck of a motor here tonight. After playing
(43:12):
a lot of minutes last night. It was one of
the concerns. I think for Scranton, and there's a whistle here,
there should be one or two seconds run off the
shot clock, I think is the issue. Oh no, I
guess they're gonna roll with thirty. It didn't really matter. Okay,
never started the clock. It sounds like what they're not
gonna do anything with it. Shafer dribbling right, and it
(43:32):
picks up the dribble, and she'll go in the corner
and said to Willie she wants a three, and.
Speaker 9 (43:36):
She beat a three.
Speaker 2 (43:38):
Rosella. Willy gives Stout the first lead of the game,
twenty five, twenty four, eight thirty two to go. Here
in the second Rosella Willie thirty five percent three point
shooter and kind of plays the five. But she can
stretch it and get out there and shoot. Well, here's
Lamana Wagner all over high logos inside, poked away and
it's grabbed by Shaper. Then Shafer was paused whist there
(43:58):
by quickly no call. Here comes Willy across the timeline.
Willy hands it off to Sorenson, to Wagner at the
top of the key. Wagner moving right, tried to float
it out for three, couldn't find the space Much on
the left wing back to Wagner up top. The return
pass trying to go to Soornson inside wasn't a good one.
Heartennett was fronting her. You've heard about from coach Iverson
in the pregame said, you know, this is a team
(44:19):
in scrant who has not seen a lot of teams
who front the post. What that means is they put
the defender in front of the post player instead of
behind the post player like most teams do, and then
they help side behind it. And what that does is
creates a lot of turnovers if you're not ready for
it is Here's Cranson on the left wing, picks up
her dribble, hands it off here to Romanowski. Romanowski is
fouled by Anna Much on the drive and that is
(44:39):
her second and that is gonna change some things here
for Stout in this second quarter twenty five twenty four
Blue Devils seven forty six to go Here in the
second Jim Bound's coming here for Hartnett. Romanowski on the
high left gets the screen there from Twiggley the high
(45:01):
low into her.
Speaker 1 (45:02):
She catches at the block back out.
Speaker 2 (45:03):
It goes a three coming and a three may a
three drained by Heartnett, and it's back to a twenty
seven to twenty five lead.
Speaker 1 (45:12):
Here for Scranton, here's Sorenson across the timeline.
Speaker 2 (45:16):
It's a Manda Geeson on the right side, a Manda
Geeson out of mary Berg, over to Sam Schaffer on
the left.
Speaker 1 (45:22):
Shafer up top to Geese and Geeson.
Speaker 2 (45:24):
Driving in, going ice up and undermove head it, block
though inside by quickly and take it away. She grabs
it as Heartene. It now has a basketball. Harden across
the timeline. Heartne It's moving off on the right, weaves
it for Romanowski. Romanowski trying to drive in. Mary Berg
picked her up on a switch out to Lamana.
Speaker 1 (45:39):
She wanted a three.
Speaker 2 (45:40):
Now she'll drive instead, returns it out in the corner
to Romanowski into the lane with the left hand block
from behind, and Stout's got it. Regan sorens in with
a basketball. Sorenson with it. Scranton up two, twenty seven
to twenty five. She'll move it to Wagner on the
left wing. Wagner looking into the post. Nothing there. They're
going in the corner. Geeson wants a three. Geeson's got
a three.
Speaker 1 (45:59):
Twenty eight twenty seven Stout six forty one to go.
Speaker 2 (46:03):
Here in this second quarter, Lamana across the timeline, guarded
by Mary Berg Lamana between the circles. News Off left
for Crantson high Wine and left, she'll go. She'll look
up top here for harden It instead to Romanowski. They're
trying to get quickly, but they're fronting the post and
they don't know what to do with that motion. Hearten
it now in the right corner driving look like a
double dribble. Low call out to Lamana. Lamana doesn't have
(46:25):
space to shoot this time. Sorenson defending Gieson out there
as well with the left hand off the glass side
of the backboard. No good rebound. Mary berg Berg's got
it and she's gonna bring it up for Stout. Start
up one with a basketball six oh seven ago. Here's
Wagner trailing to play. She's fouling a three. Hartnett got
out and found her for her second foul, and Wagner's
going to line for three free throws. Hartnet's gonna stay
(46:51):
in the game. Gorsky came in and Hartnett thought she
was going out, but not the case. Daddy Hartnett in
her seat season last year, appeared in twenty eight games.
She's had a great season this year as well. Great
three point shooter. Haven't seen it as much. They're gonna
give a quick rest to Lamana the three point specialists tonight.
(47:12):
She's got eighteen. There's nobody else with more than one bucket.
On the other side is Wagner misses the free throw
and that does not happen often easily. I think the
best free throw shooter on the team at eighty percent,
third in the WIA seed. She misses the first. She's
got two more six oh four to go here in
the second quarter. Stout twenty eight, Strant twenty seven. Second
(47:33):
is good from Wagner, and you can hear it, I
mean good, student section. This is a very very pro
Scranton crowd, as you would imagine. It's part of the
advantaging it of being one of the top four seeds
in the tournament. And you get this home weekend the
second week and Wagner missed the third. Wow, she made
one out of three and that is probably the first
time that's maybe ever happened in her life.
Speaker 1 (47:54):
Right there. Nerves do weird things in the elite eight.
Speaker 2 (47:56):
I'm telling you that easily as Sorenson deflex that pass
out of it'll stay with Scranton here on the near sidelines,
stop twenty nine, Scranton twenty seven. I think, for my
money in at sixty fourteen NCAA term doesn't matter what
the level is, that the Elite eight is the hardest
round to win. It's it is such a you know,
the goal, I mean, the the goal at the end
(48:19):
of the pot, at the end of the rainbow, right
as the final four. Everybody talks about it. This is
the hardest game to get over and to do it
on the road against the team that's won thirty two
at Hall, thirty two in a row at home. Like
I mean, it is really, really tough, and so it's
gonna be a tough road tonight, that is for sure.
As Pratley can't handle the pass, she will recollect it
though out near the top they go to Gorski. They
gotta go here with three to shoot. Tough shot thrown up.
(48:39):
It did hit the rim and Berg got the rebound.
No off the miss. Berg will get past Romanowski, the freshman.
She'll go up top here to Sorns and Sorenson cut off.
That was too much contact from France, and and the
third foul on Scranton here in the quarter.
Speaker 1 (48:57):
And who they get that call on.
Speaker 2 (49:02):
It is on Cranson and for Cranson that is her first.
I haven't marked it on the scoreboard yet, but it
is in our system, and it is out of bounds.
Not a shooting fowl there. So it's Geeson, Willie, Berg, Sorenson,
and Much the five on the floor for Stout. Sorenson
trying to get open on the inbound on the baseline,
can't do it. Willy in the right corner. Now it's
(49:23):
a Geeson on the right wing, Much at the top
of the key. Much moves it off on the left
for Storns and gets a screen from out of Much
hesitates not to Geeson thought about the three, puts it
on the deck. She will drive, take contact and it
rolls off Gorski right there, close to falling and it
just couldn't quite find the bottom of oop. For Amanda Geeson,
here's Romanowski Berg defense screened her out of it. They
(49:43):
go to Cranson in the corner. Knight's catch back quickly
inside and she'll make it again. Cronning the post there
on the switch a little bit harder to do and
Stout unable to defend it twenty nine to all, here's
geeseon all the way, a hope and a foul called
is well. Now, are they gonna give the bucket here
or not? The fowl is on Scranton. I think they're
gonna give the who I gotta well to be honest,
(50:03):
I think the contact happened before she shot it, but
they called a foul on Scranton before it. I don't
They haven't given an indication here. I don't think they're
gonna give They're going to review this, all right, They're
gonna review it. It sounds like I think about when
the basket was scored, because if you know, it's interesting
if pison is in the act of shooting and there's
(50:25):
an off ball fall, do you give the bucket and
still the foul as well, or if it's not in
the act of shooting. If you determine it's not in
the act of shooting yet, is it out of bounds?
I think that is a question the officials are dealing with,
and Hannah Iverson's trying to get some explanation here as well.
I think she wants to make sure that the officials
know that the bucket was hit and there is also
a media time out here as well, so they might
(50:46):
not be reviewing this. The officials initially waved it off.
They will take this as the media timeout. Dan Price.
So it is twenty nine all four fifty four to go.
It might be thirty one twenty nine when we come back.
We will find out when we come back. Good ones
so far here in the Elite eight. Back after this
on your home for blue doubles basketball.
Speaker 3 (51:05):
This is the NCEED Double A Tournament right here on
News Talk w me EQ.
Speaker 9 (51:12):
Hey, if you're even thinking about a metal roof, that's
probably because you've heard about it from the Yorkstran. I mean,
come on, before Yorkstran, nobody bragged about their metal roof
because they didn't do them.
Speaker 10 (51:25):
Only one company's been doing them all these years.
Speaker 9 (51:27):
They do it better than everybody else, quicker, better quality
and a better price. Hey, don't go with some metal roof, rookie,
that's learning on your house. Go at the leader b
Yorks two three seven, twenty six, seventy eight.
Speaker 3 (51:43):
Now back to the NCED Double A Tournament right here
on Newstalk wm EQ.
Speaker 2 (51:51):
Welcome back here to Scranton Pennsylvania twenty nine twenty nine
are score in the el eit eight four fifty four
to go in the second quarter. There is a question
here as we are at the media timeout as to
a couple of things. One who a foul was calling
on right before the whistle and the media timeout. There's
a foul off the balls Reagan Storrens and was setting
(52:11):
up a screen. She got blown up in the lane
and they called the foul on scrint, so we know
who the foul is on. The question is as to
whether Easan, who was the one driving to the hoop
on that screen, scored the bucket before the foul or
before the whistle basically, And that's what the officials are
looking at here, And so it could be thirty one
to twenty nine when all this is sorted out. If not,
it's likely just a common foul out of bounds to
stout and off we go.
Speaker 1 (52:31):
Now.
Speaker 2 (52:32):
I guess they also could be looking to see if
they want to upgrade this foul, but I can't imagine,
at least looking at it in real time, that there
was anything to upgrade the foul from seemed like a
common foul. But we'll see officials are still talking about
it again, Brian Wallace, Alyssa Han, we're at the table now,
they'll talk to Chantal William Thomas excuse me here at
the mid court line. My guess is they're going to
(52:53):
just give South the ball out of bounds after that foul.
But the question is is whether the basket counts or not. Now,
let's let me put it this way. If that had
been a foul that it can been committed on geeseon
when the whistle was blown, I think they probably give
a continuation to give an ann one there, but because
it was off ball, they're not going to And yeah,
they've waved off the basket. So no basket from Geese.
And even though she had a wide open drive. That's
(53:13):
one of those where as much as you like the
fouwel to get called and you get somebody else in
foul trouble as it is on quickly, it looks like
is that's who they've given it to on the board,
so the fouls on quickly that you may rather just
the foul not be called and you get the basket right,
just let it go.
Speaker 1 (53:31):
Here's the call now.
Speaker 10 (53:34):
The scouts and stop.
Speaker 1 (53:38):
All right, So stout ball the foul on quickly.
Speaker 2 (53:40):
That is the fourth on scrant So Stout's gonna shoot
free throws the rest of this four fifty four. The
second quarter inbounds goes to Anna much blocked out of bounds.
They're deflected on bounds by gore Ski, and so Stout
will reimbound four fifty two to go here in the
quarter Stout twenty nine. Scranton twenty nine as well, in
bounds goes to Sorenson on the left wing. She was
open for three. Now she'll take it, and she'll make it.
Not in rhythm, but ringing. Sorensen hitting in a big
(54:03):
spot from beyond the arc, and Stout is four of
six from beyond the arc already in this contest, thirty
two to twenty nine. Stout leads it to go in
the post with Willy defends up with the right hand.
No offensive rebound here for Bennett. She'll kick it back
out on the left side to Sloan. Sloan trying to
drive in on. Shaper defends her really well. Shafer stays
in front beautifully. Sloan looking for an open pass. Nothing there,
(54:24):
almost a five second call. We'll give it to Lamana
on the left wing, back to Sloan in the corner.
Seven to shoot. Sloan out on the wing. Sloan looking
should go high low inside. It is tipped out of
there and it's grabbed by Sorenson before the shot clock expires.
Stout with the steal in the basketball. Up by three.
They find Sorenson trailing, thought about stepping into a three.
She's gonna drive and said takes contact from Cranson. Instead
goes to Willy Willy in the corner. Back out to
(54:45):
Shaffer between the wheels. They go left side to much
much out on the wing, looking inside. Sorensen catches tough
catch there, deflected and stolen away by Gorsky. Tough plays
out a little bit out of control there, three fifty
three left to go.
Speaker 1 (54:57):
Second quarter.
Speaker 2 (54:57):
Scranton across the timeline with Lamana. Lamana inside the three
point line, hands off. Now off on the left wing
for Sloan.
Speaker 1 (55:03):
Sloan.
Speaker 2 (55:03):
Bat bounces to Gorski in the right corner, guarded by
Geeseen loses the dribble, picks it back up. She'll bounce
it off here for Sloan. Sloan at the top of
the key. Sloane inside open pass finds Cranton lay up
there and it's a one point game. Stout thirty two
Scranton thirty one, Sam Schafer across the timeline, three thirty
left to play. In the second quarter. Shaffer off for
Sorenson out on the right wing. They weren't really defending
(55:26):
her beyond the three point arc. They might try to
do that. If they do it, she'll burn them. Trying
to drive to the hoop. Here's much from the top.
She wants to drive, she will, She'll stop at the block,
gets it back out to Keeson. Keesin't gonna drive in
past her defender, and she scores sawdas space. Pass Bennett
and she'll score it with the lay up. Thirty four
thirty one Stout three zero five to go. Second quarter,
Scranton Basketball. Sloan across the timeline. Sloan hands off on
(55:49):
the right wing for Lamana. She's double team. They're not
gonna let her shoot another one. Maybe tonight. Six of
eight from beyond the arc for Lamana here this evening.
She hits six out of her first seven. They go
on the post to Bennett, Bennett trying to spin tough shot,
too strong rebound for Willie and Blue Devils have the
ball up three thirty four to thirty one. Willy gonna
bring it across the timeline. Willy stops, hands out to
Sorens and Sorenson going up fade away in the lane.
(56:10):
Got it Reagan Sorenson fading right over top of Bennett,
the final eleven sophomore from Staten Island, and the Blue
Devils lead by five, their largest lead of the game,
thirty six thirty one over Scranton.
Speaker 1 (56:21):
A timeout taken.
Speaker 2 (56:22):
By the Royals. The Blue Devils are feeling it up
thirty six thirty one with two twenty seven left to
play in the second quarter. A thirty second timeout taken
here by Scranton, and that gives us a chance to
check in on the other games around the Elite eight. Again,
just three other games tonight. In women's basketball, NYU is
(56:47):
on the way to the Final Four. They win it
seventy six to fifty one. That game was a four
point game, I think at halftime. They pulled away in
the second half against Gettysburg and so the winner of
this game will play NYU in the Final Four next week.
Ash Gosh up five to nothing very early first quarter
(57:08):
on Baldwin Wallace seven forty nine left to go in
the first quarter there and gets Davis at office trails Smith,
who upset Bowden last night forty four to forty. Smith
leads gas Davis with one forty five to go on
the third quarter. And that is where things stand as
we get into this second quarter. Two twenty seven to play.
Here in the second and Stout up by five. This
(57:29):
is Romanowski here for Scranton. Romanowski gets a screen. She
drives all the way with the right hand. It crawls
over a good screen set up at the top of
the key. She had the space to move around. The
help defense was late. Thirty six thirty three. Stout leads.
Wagner floats back.
Speaker 1 (57:43):
She was open.
Speaker 2 (57:44):
Now she'll get it to Geese and she'll take a
three instead, and she'll crawl over. It does not bounce in.
Sorrens with a beautiful rebound. She'll go up and it
will fall through Reagan. Sorenson scores. It's thirty eight thirty
three Stout two minutes up to go. Second quarter. Sorenson
with an unbelievably athletic acrobatic rebound inside to keep the
(58:04):
play alive and score two more. Here is heartnit heartn
it into the corner and drive from Krantz and Krantson
cut off, almost stepped out of bounds. She'll go out
to heartnet. Looked like she did hearten it with the
finger rowl, layup and it rolls in ice played from
heartning with that long, lanky situation there. As they go
up to sorens and Sorenson spinning, she'll go into the
lane with the right hands. She's filed foul and head
(58:25):
of the line for two thirty eight to thirty five.
Stout and Sorenson going to the line with one thirty
three left to go, second quarter and kneeds your big
players to step up in big spots, and so far
Reagan sorens is doing that. Still got another twenty minute
twenty one minutes of this game left, so there's still
a lot that needs to happen, But so far Sorensons
showing some good signs here tonight. First free throw, yes,
(58:48):
thirty nine, thirty five Stout.
Speaker 1 (58:51):
Seventeen. Already here for Reagan Sorenson eighteen.
Speaker 2 (58:57):
As she makes the next free throw forty to thirty five. Well,
this is closer to the team that you're used to
seeing from Stout who scores a lot of points. They
average seventy eight points apartment, excuse me. They average seventy
one point nine points per game. So yesterday sixty two
is out a character, but they got the job done.
Is spin moving a block inside by wind? Or what
a play ball? Still tipping about in the lane and
(59:18):
it will be a jump ball jump ball called the
arrow is gonna give it to Scranton with one thirteen
to go here in the second what a block from
Wagner And then it was tipping about in the lane
and the squeegee guy is falling asleep at the wheel
over there in the first row.
Speaker 1 (59:35):
There he comes.
Speaker 2 (59:37):
The student section says, good job doing your job.
Speaker 1 (59:42):
They weren't helping.
Speaker 2 (59:43):
I mean well, nonetheless, forty to thirty five Stout, one
thirteen to go here in the second in bounds coming
for Scranton. Romanowski looking and it's tipped away. Gison almost
threw it off of Romanowski who was out of bounds
and got the turnover. I think, Romanowski, you know your
your initial instinct I thing is an athlete as a player,
is to grab that ball.
Speaker 1 (01:00:01):
And then she realized she was out of mountains and
said Nope, can't do that.
Speaker 2 (01:00:05):
Eleven to shoot here, one thirteen to go in the
second inbounds comes in the right wing to Cranson. They
move it around nicely here out to Heartnett Hartnet now
into the post to Cranson. Cranston trying to go up
and under with the right hand. No, but a foul
calling on Shaper, and I got Shaffer for a little
bit too much body inside and all they got Willie
for a reaching foule here. I thought that they were
gonna get Shaper for sure, but they get Willy instead,
(01:00:26):
and that will send the Royals to the line. And
these are their first free throw attempts in the night,
and I'm sure there are a lot of fans feeling
agreed by that at the moment. Is that first free
throw will go through here for Cranson. Cranson and most
of the players on this Royals team are eighty or
eight percent plus free throw shooters. She's at eighty three
point six, and that second.
Speaker 1 (01:00:46):
One will go as well.
Speaker 2 (01:00:47):
So forty to thirty seven stout one oh six to
play here in this second quarter. Regardless, what you've seen
here in this first half is that we're gonna have
a doozy on our hands here and I Storrenson across
the timeline. Sorenson hesitates, gets the geese out on the
right wing. Geeson drives, gets cut off inside by Gorsky,
gets it out rather to Willy Willy find Shaper at
the top of the key. Shafer catches out to Wagner,
(01:01:09):
trying to step back and get some space and set
you chopping across up on the right wing. Now for
Shafer around to Sorenson. Sorenson puts it on the deck.
She's got the big quickly on her, goes up, had
it blocked inside and out of bounds, and it'll stay
with Stout with seven to shoot, forty two point two
left to play on the quarter.
Speaker 1 (01:01:24):
Well, that was the mismatch you didn't want.
Speaker 2 (01:01:26):
If you're Stout quickly it's six foot and sorens in
there and quickly puts that big body on her and
gets a deflection out of bounds. Here shapered inbound with
seven to shoot. Sorenson gets open and she got found
got cole by Gorsky on the inbound and she will
head to the line to shoot two free throws with
forty one point two to go, and almost acts as
a two for one here for Stout, get these two
(01:01:47):
and then get a stop, and you, I mean you
got a shot to be up by seven or eight
going into the halftime locker room, which would be one
heck of a heck of a win. I think the
way this first half is gone. Sorenson's free throw goes
forty one to thirty seven, Stout forty one point two
to play here in the second quarter, Sorenson with one more,
She's got a miss there, tipped out. Willie grabs a
(01:02:09):
rebound out to Wagner, who is trainling to play back
to Shaper now and they'll get a new twenty. So
still a differential here between shot and game clock. We
took under thirty seconds left to play in the first half,
Stout by four. Shafer moves to the right eight to shoot.
Gotta get a shot off here soon Geeson puts it
on the actual drive on quickly with the right hand
blocked out of the hounds. Two seconds to shoot, twenty
(01:02:30):
one point one left to play in the quarter. They
need to run a good inbound play here. They've already
taken a time their user to lose it time out,
So here's Shaper to inbound gotta get a quick shot off.
Here Schaefer looking. She get it to Geeson, catch and
shoot up and it goes buther of the shock block.
Forty three thirty seven Stout. Fifteen seconds left to play
(01:02:51):
in the half. Here comes Scranton across the timeline. This
is Romanowski with ten, with nine with eight crosses over.
She's got a wide open drive kicked in the corner
and stead for three. It misses. It's an offensive rebound.
It's stepping out of bounds, was Gordski. It's Stout basketball.
She fell out of bounds with the ball two point
seven ago. Here in the half, Stout pist six sarrens
(01:03:15):
and catches. She'll take the half court one handed. Eve
oh Man hit the backboard and just missed. What a
half for Stout. Stout had a heck of a start
to this game. When you saw Lemana hit six out
of seven from beyond the arc, they took a big lead.
They were up sixteen to seven with four minutes left
to play in the first quarter. Since then, it's been
(01:03:38):
all Stout. They lead by six at halftime, their largest
lead of the game, and a good start from the
Blue Devils. They've got twenty more minutes to punch their
ticket to Salem, Virginia. We'll take a two minute time out,
mister Price, and we will come back with the assistant
athletic director, Aaron Sullivan, former player, former coach, who's probably
got her hurt further in her throat than I do is.
(01:03:58):
We'll be back here in just a moment. Here it
hap to as it is Stout forty three, Scranton thirty
seven on your home for blue double basketball.

Now back to the NCUBLEA Tournament right here on News
Talk wm EQ.
Speaker 2 (01:06:24):
It is the NCAA Tournament and we are here on
Newstalk wm EQ a special thanks to Dan Price, our
producer back in studio. And Dan Price was they're back
in the mid two thousands producing games, and so was
Aaron Sullivan coaching games. And you were coaching at that
point right eron and again it's a forty three to
thirty seven lead perst out here at halftime over Scranton
(01:06:45):
with a trip to the Final four on the line.
But you were coaching back at that time with the
with mark on those teams that made it to the
Sweet sixteen oh five, oh six oh seven, right, hosting
in a couple of those years as well. Let me
ask you this question. Is it easier in this situation
to be in a is this an athletic director or
be a coach?
Speaker 16 (01:07:02):
I mean, I think probably in the position I'm in
right now, because you know, you say, you know the
scouts and you know, you know every single scout you
miss you know, or you know position you miss or whatever.
Speaker 17 (01:07:11):
But I mean it works you up too, you know,
and the waiting is just brutal. Like I mean, an eight.
Speaker 16 (01:07:16):
O'clock at all day time was that was hard, and
you know you just sit and like look, and then
finally when it.
Speaker 17 (01:07:21):
Hit like twenty minutes, I was like all right, then
it felt like it flew by, you know.
Speaker 16 (01:07:24):
But I mean, you know, you put just as much effort,
and it's just a different kind of effort, you know,
to make sure the experience is really good for these kids,
and it's just different. I'm not, you know, scouting a game,
but I'm I mean, I've been doing the meals and
all that kind of stuff all week and you know,
slidifying our travel plans and all that. So you just
you contribute in different ways, and you know they're also
appreciative and it's it's been fun.
Speaker 17 (01:07:42):
It's been a good trip so far.
Speaker 2 (01:07:44):
It has. We'll talk a little bit about this team.
But I thought one of the cool things I think
do we talked about last night was a chancellor of
frank hopped on a plane?
Speaker 1 (01:07:51):
Or does she have to get up at three?
Speaker 18 (01:07:52):
What was it?
Speaker 17 (01:07:53):
So it was it was up pretty early and she
arrived around Middea.
Speaker 2 (01:07:56):
That's awesome writing again to get the chancellor to come out.
I know she supports all the time, but to see
her say, hey, I'm just gonna I'm gonna get on
a plane and I gotta go to Stacy pretty awesome.
Speaker 16 (01:08:04):
Yeah, I mean, you know she definitely you know I'm biased, right,
I work in athletics on campus, and you know she
supports athletics.
Speaker 17 (01:08:09):
But I think the coolest thing about her is she's
I want to everything on campus. I mean, you know,
I can't imagine her calendar on a weekly basis and
what that looks like. And you know, I think our
students and stuff, she would be proud to have a chancellor.
Speaker 16 (01:08:19):
It really cares and invest in them, and you know,
wants to be at the activities, whether it be you know,
a theater show, you know, or you know, something in
the MSc.
Speaker 17 (01:08:26):
I mean, she is at everything. So yeah, we're super
fortunate to have her be a part.
Speaker 2 (01:08:30):
Of us, and it's been fun against sout forty three
and thirty seven. Here at halftime talking with Aaron Seliman,
Assistant Athletic Director. Yeah, I thought it was cool to
see her when she was at the hotel as well.
Players just kind of talked to her like she's yeh,
she's one of the guys, right, Like you know, she's
very approachable from a chancellor set, because not every chancellor
is like that, and that's pretty cool to see to
just you know, be like, hey, chancer, what's up. And
(01:08:50):
it's not even chance it's like, hey, I was a
flying Well let's talk a little bit about what's going on.
Speaker 17 (01:08:54):
Yeah, I mean she's so approachable, right, and but she
but she has some questions to learn about them.
Speaker 2 (01:08:58):
Yeah, she up and down.
Speaker 16 (01:08:59):
She might know more about this team and their majors
and where they're from, you know, and all that kind
of stuff, you know.
Speaker 2 (01:09:03):
And whatnot.
Speaker 17 (01:09:03):
So I mean she's so approachable and but she truly
cares about the students.
Speaker 16 (01:09:07):
You know, we have some videographers with us and things
like that, and you know, she asked them all the
same questions, you know, so it's really neat to watch
and interact with the students.
Speaker 1 (01:09:15):
It's really fun for that.
Speaker 2 (01:09:16):
It's also fun and we talked about it yesterday with
all the parents and the family and and some just
Stout fans right Stout alumni. There's there's some folks who
don't quote unquote have a like a right on, like
a blood connection right to this team that just decided
I'm gonna hop on a plane or figure out a
way to get to scrand in Pennsylvania and watch this team.
They made a big tunnel for the players coming out
of their little film session talk before the game from
(01:09:39):
the hotel. The support has been really really cool from
all those folks who would come out.
Speaker 16 (01:09:43):
As Yeah, I mean, you know, yesterday, you know, I
thought we'd have a good crowd, and yesterday when I
got here and you know, I looked at all, my dang,
our crowd is really really good, you know. I mean
we have a really look across the way here where
we're sitting, and I mean we have you know, really
two sections that are pretty much full of you know,
stout people, and I mean these parents their daughters like
no other, you know, and they really put that effort
out and they're all in on it too, which is
(01:10:05):
pretty neat to see.
Speaker 1 (01:10:06):
It's really neat.
Speaker 2 (01:10:06):
And again, this women seem you know it, it galvanizes
a lot in the community right at the campus as well.
But I think one of the cool things that it does.
Obviously they're they're a tight knit group to begin with,
but it also kind of galvanizes the other student athletes. Man,
there's not a lot of teams. I know, there's a
good student section here and I per scram but there's
not a lot of student sections where you got Pat Corkoran, right,
(01:10:29):
you got all these football players and those guys who
are I mean, they're dressing up, they're in the front row,
they're doing chance, they're jumping around, dancing. You don't see
a lot of other student athletes support the same way
that stout student athletes support this team.
Speaker 16 (01:10:41):
Yeah, you know, I mean we really try to make
that an environment in our athletic department, you know, do
and I really tried to put a focus on that
and the expectation is that you go support others. If
they come to yourself, then you know, then hopefully they
return the gesture and come to your game.
Speaker 9 (01:10:52):
You know.
Speaker 16 (01:10:53):
So I think, you know, just over all this year,
we're talking the other day, and our student attendance has
been very good, and you know, it's it's easy to
get behind fund teams, like they're a lot of fun
to watch.
Speaker 17 (01:11:02):
I mean, who doesn't love how hard they play.
Speaker 16 (01:11:04):
I mean, they played that second quarter that post defense now,
you know, and everyone sees that probably, but that post
defense that we're playing right now is crazy.
Speaker 17 (01:11:12):
It's and there we're just we're just gutting it out,
you know, and our guards are guarding them, you know.
Speaker 1 (01:11:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 16 (01:11:17):
Right, So, I mean, it's it's fun to get behind
teams that are fun and active on campus.
Speaker 2 (01:11:21):
And things like that.
Speaker 1 (01:11:22):
Easy team to root for.
Speaker 2 (01:11:23):
I think it's been an easy team for a lot
of you know, national folks D three hoops people to
root for as well, because they're not the prototypical you
know D three NCA team right where you've got that
big recruit or that six foot two, six foot three
player that comes in and all American. Here you got
five foot seven all Americans, right, and you got just
gritty players. That's been the fun part to watch all
these years and with this particular group. But man, Hannah,
(01:11:46):
I even think about this group, but I don't want
to think too far in the future because I like
what's happening right now. But man, even next year, like
I think about that freshman last she's got in there.
I mean, the five starter is gonna be different next year.
But they're gonna be really good, aren't they. Yeah, they are.
Speaker 16 (01:11:59):
You know, I get to see this team and practice
a lot and just get to know him and traveling
with him. You sit and you watch practice, right, But
I'll tell you our young kids can play, you know,
they really can. And I'm really excited for the future
of you know what it looks like. And you know,
I mean, Hannah's built such just a great program. And
you know, I've been again traveling. I'm in on a
lot of the meetings and I hear things, and I mean,
every these girls and women, they I think they know
(01:12:20):
how lucky they are to have been coached by her
and just life things she's taught them. But I mean,
you know, there's been some tiers around here. You know,
I mean, you know yesterday do he said he's struggled
a bit, and and I today, you know, I walked
out of the video and I couldn't like it just
does not stop.
Speaker 1 (01:12:35):
Well, I'm gonna call him the softie because you be crying.
Speaker 2 (01:12:37):
Oh, tell him.
Speaker 1 (01:12:38):
That is one hack of a team to watch. And
it's been fun all season.
Speaker 2 (01:12:41):
And I appreciate you supporting us so we can come
and bring the broadcast back to the Menominee and back
to the greater western Wisconsin area.
Speaker 1 (01:12:49):
And appreciate that. And uh maybe next week, we'll see,
we'll see what happens.
Speaker 2 (01:12:53):
Yeah, I mean it's fun. Obviously.
Speaker 17 (01:12:54):
We appreciate you know, you being our voice for all
our sports.
Speaker 16 (01:12:56):
You know, you do such a phenomenal job, and you know,
people really get behind it and in our highly videos
you know, highlight you.
Speaker 17 (01:13:01):
It's a ton of fun to sit and listen. So
our fans, our community, we all really appreciate you'd be
willing to come as well, and so thank you for that.
And yeah, I'll take the six point lead right now.
Let's keep it rolling.
Speaker 2 (01:13:11):
You can thank my wife and son for yes, we
appreciate it for lending me out to Scranton, Sylvania here

Now back to the nc DOUBLEA Tournament right here on
News Talk wm EQ.
Speaker 1 (01:15:59):
On that share you here here at halftime?
Speaker 2 (01:16:01):
Is the UW SOUD Blue Devils coming out of the
halftime locker room? Is they lead forty three to thirty
seven over Scranton at halftime in the Elite eight of
the Division three NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament.
Speaker 1 (01:16:12):
Here in twenty twenty five, he condo It's with you,
Dan Price back in studio special.
Speaker 2 (01:16:15):
Thanks Aaron Sullivan Core joining us here during halftime. Halftime
stats come your way and halftime stats look like this.
For the Blue Devils, they have nineteen from Reagan Sorenson
on seven of eleven shooting and three rebounds from her
as well, eleven points for Amanda Geeson three of eight shooting,
one of two from beyond the arc, four of four
ant the line for her as well, only one rebound
(01:16:36):
for Geeson. On the evening, Blue Devil shooting fifteen of
twenty seven from the field and four of seven from
beyond the arc, so fifty five point six percent shooting.
But Scranton's matched some fifty six percent shooting for them
on fourteen of twenty five shooting and seven of eleven
from beyond the arc, and six of those seven threes
were made in the first half by Megan Lamana, who
(01:16:57):
hit six of her first seven and looked lights out
from beyond the arc here for the Royals, and at
that point early in the game, when it was a
sixteen to seven lead, you thought for a moment that
Scranton was going to run away with it.
Speaker 1 (01:17:08):
The Blue Devils will hung on.
Speaker 2 (01:17:09):
They outscored Scranton twenty three to fifteen in the second
quarter and shot eight to fourteen from the field in
that quarter as well, so they looked awfully good and
Scranton's field goal percentage went down to forty six percent
just in the second quarter alone, so the Blue Devils
really turned up the defensive pressure did a nice job
in that category. It is Stout out rebounding Scranton thirteen
(01:17:31):
to twelve overall in this game. Scouts outdes scoring Scranton
eighteen to twelve in the paint second chance points seven
to four in favor of the Blue Devils as well,
and points off a turnovers seven to five in favor
of Stout. Stouts only turned it over three times. Strant's
turned over eight in that first half. As the shooting
continues here and forming up to get ready for the
(01:17:51):
second half quickly around Division three basketball gas Stavis trails
by seven to Smith with one point two left in
the fourth, so Smith is close to punching their ticket
to the Final four. NYU with a big second half,
winning seventy six to fifty one over Gettysburg. So the
winner of this game plays NYU in the Final four,
and it is Oshkosh twenty seven balden wall Is twelve
(01:18:12):
with five point forty left to go in the second
quarter of their game, so Oscosh looking good, Stout looking good.
Still lot of time left though, and the Blue Devils
need to figure out a way to keep turning up
the pressure here in this second half. They will have
the ball to start the second half, and that is true.
That is not a misprint like it was last night
when we were thought that Stout would have the ball,
(01:18:34):
but they did not. So all right, off we go
here as Stout comes out of the huddle, Scranton still
in the huddle here is they are say, reeling, But
I think that the fact that Stout didn't go away
after the punch that Scranton threw to start this game
is a little bit perplexing. Here to the Royals down
by six at halftime, Stout will start off with the
(01:18:54):
starters back out Schaeffer.
Speaker 1 (01:18:56):
Gaeson, Sowrenz and Mutchin.
Speaker 2 (01:18:57):
Wagner starters back out as well for the Royal Romanowski, Cranson,
Heartennet Lamana, and quickly here for Scranton, it is Wagner
to receive the inbounds pass, and boy, they're not gonna
not gonna let Shaper get the basketball here, so Wagner
will move it over to Sorenson off on the left wing,
Sorenson looking to drive and Staid Wagner floats out on
the right side. Wagner at the free throw line takes
the jumper.
Speaker 1 (01:19:18):
It's short.
Speaker 2 (01:19:18):
Sorenson fighting for the rebounds. She can't get it and
Scranton does, but Shaper almost with the steal. They'll dive
for it in a jump ball. How about that effort
from Sam Shaffer. Scranton's gonna get the ball on the
possession arrow. But that is great effort by Shaper to
just earn the arrow back and give the Royals something
(01:19:41):
to think about. Forty three thirty seven. Stout just twenty
two seconds in too quarter number three and a ten
second violation, didn't get the ball across in time, and
it's Stout basketball.
Speaker 1 (01:19:54):
The Lamana.
Speaker 2 (01:19:57):
Just kind of lackadaisically getting in a cross and because that,
they still only had ten seconds to get across. So
again you don't get a new ten basically on that
jump balls. So they only had about five six seconds
to get it across, and it's a ten second violation.
The arrow shouldn't be favoring Stout. They had the arrow
wrong on the table there, So that's what they're figuring
(01:20:18):
out inbounds to go to Wagner here again as Shaper
is being denied the pass. Not really sure why you're
defending Shaper the way you are. She is the least
threat to steal is. That's a bad pass from Wagner
in the post. But Sorenson gets back to it anyway
in the corner Keison.
Speaker 1 (01:20:30):
She wants it.
Speaker 2 (01:20:31):
Three swashegas in for three ands and nine points down
lead forty six thirty seven, the Blue Devils in front.
Here's Romanowski the other way. Romanowski hands up to Hartnett
on the right wing, guarded by Wagner, moves it off
on the left side for Cranson Cranston trying to drive
on Soorrens and Cranson up and under with the left hand.
Speaker 1 (01:20:48):
She missed it in Soorrens and gets the rebound.
Speaker 2 (01:20:50):
I think she thought she was gonna get contact and
didn't much receives in transition much into Romanowski out to
Wagner's he's wide open, Oh it's too strong, and the
rebound Lamana Nan Wagner has been pulled in the NCAA tournament,
struggling to find the range from beyond the arc. Lamana
floats out. They'll move it off on the right side
to heartnet partner guarded by Wagner. Now Lamana at the
top of the key, quickly trying to get the ball inside.
(01:21:13):
She does helps side from Sorensen to pass at the
bottom of the net. The three in the corner is
good from Cranson forty six forty stout eight thirty to
go here in the third Wagner gonna take it across
the timeline herself. Here she will spin at the high
wine on the left side. Wagner gets a hand in
her face here, needs some help. She'll get it over
(01:21:33):
too much up on the left wing. Much thought about
getting into Wagner. Now she will in the corner. Wagner
dribbling in offer Anna much in the corner Much gets
a screen from Wagner not calling out a play. She's
got nine to shoot. Much into the lane, goes with
the left hand. It doesn't go. Lamana close to making
contact there, but no call a misshot. Lamana gets the rebound.
Lamana up ahead. As Shaffer depends. Lamana dribbles left hands
(01:21:56):
off the Romanowski. Romanowski driving it on Wagner and she
will be pile. The ba tasket goes and children and
had one chance miss Wagner picks up the pole her
second seven fifty two to go here in the third
Stout forty six, Scranton forty two and a free throw
pending for Romanowski in eighty four percent free throw shooter.
(01:22:22):
Good response here from Scranton after Stout went up by
nine just a few moments ago. Free throw is good
and it's a three point Stout lead. So a quick
six to oh run here for Scranton and it's back
to a three point Lou Devil lead. It was a
six point lead at halftime. Shafer's got Romanowski all up
in her business up on the high side as it'll
(01:22:45):
be much driving in, takes contact and rattles it in
off the backboard and round Heartnett giving her the pressure
there and Much just put a shoulder into her and
said try to defend this. And she scores forty eight
forty three Stout. Romanowski between the circles, looking across over
He's guarded by Shaeffer, and I'll offer hertning on the
right wing, Heartening into the lane, gets cut off, moves
it out to Kranton. Cranson drives into the lane, gets
(01:23:06):
cut off there, and a foul call on Sorensen for
a little bump which Stout would or rather her just
made that bucket and not have the foul call. But
Jorgson only picking up her first, so she is in
good shape. Could have been a little aggressive there anyway.
Speaker 1 (01:23:21):
Second foul.
Speaker 2 (01:23:21):
Once out of the quarter, nothing on Scranton yet here
in the third, with seven eighteen left to go in
the third, it's Stout forty eight Scranton forty three New
twenty here for Scranton, they go inside, the catch is made,
she misses the layup, however does krantson the ball still
bouncing about. No jump back called. They roll it out
right side Lamana for three from the wing. Good seventh
three of the game for Lamana. The record is eight
(01:23:42):
for the most reason a game for Scranton in their
program history. Here's Sorensen now across the timeline, forty eight
forty six Stout. Sorenson hangs in the lane, takes a
two and hits right over top of Granson. It's a
four point Stout lead, fifty to forty six. Is there's
the answer from the Blue Devils six fifty to go
on the third quarter, Scranton with a basketball. Romanowski the
front court right to left here in the second half,
Lamana thought about the long range three and said, crosses
(01:24:04):
over dribbles in on much she cuts her off beautifully,
picks up the dribble in the left corner. Now back
out to Romanowski in two hands on her from the
shaffer and they'll be a foul call on Stout.
Speaker 1 (01:24:12):
So Stout picking up some fowls here. That's just the
first on Shafer.
Speaker 2 (01:24:16):
Third though on Stout in the quarter and the blue
devels gotta be a little bit more careful here, and
I'd like to see Stout earn some fowls at the
other end as well. Mary Berg gonna check in here
for Stout. Hanna Much's gonna check out. Nobody with three
yet for either team in this game. In terms of
foul trouble, I've been a number of fouls called. Just
nobody picking up that ever dangerous third foul. As of yet,
(01:24:38):
Romanowski receives a past Mary Berg defending on her. Look
like Romanowski wants to drive, she will. Berg can't defend it.
Right hand, lay up to it. Fifty to forty eight. Stout,
great first step there for Romanowski. Berg never looked like
she was in a good guarding physician. Here's Sorens in
the other way, picks up the dribble just inside the
three point line on the left wing. They switch it
around to Shaffer. Shaffer catches inside Geese and Geese goes up,
missus a shot. She puts it back. She got it
(01:25:00):
through Lamana missed the first one, stayed with it and
scored fifty two forty eight. Stout leads six eleven. Left
your play in the third. Here's Romanowski, you know the
corner to Kranson. Kranton guarded by Burg trying to get
around her. Berg defense should go up with the right
hand scores at Berg having a hard time defense, Sout
might have to make a sub theirs. They are isolating
Berg and making some good points. Is Now Willy gets
(01:25:22):
across the timeline. Willy is fouled. They didn't call it
to go all the way to the hoop. Misses the shot.
Sorens and trying to fight for the rebound, doesn't get it.
Quickly rips it down a no foul call. Heartn it
across the timeline. Stout by two, but Scranton with a
basketball Heartennet loses the basketball initially now passes it out
to Cranson on the left corner.
Speaker 1 (01:25:39):
Cranson up top.
Speaker 2 (01:25:40):
A drive from Rowanowski bounces to quickly back in the corner,
Leavano open for a right wing three good fifty three
fifty two Scranton, five thirty to go there at quarter
and Scranton takes the lead.
Speaker 1 (01:25:55):
It is their first lead.
Speaker 2 (01:25:57):
Since the six fifty four mark of the second quarter.
Shot from Sorenson at the pree throw line. This short
redound Quigley and Scranton has it back and this crowd
finally into it now here for the Royals Stout down
one fifty three fifty two, five five to go in
the third. This is heartneit, heartne it give saladan a
Lamano weaves it for Romanowski on the right wing into
(01:26:18):
the corner. A drive from Hartneing on the baseline loses
a basketball with a foul called on Sorensen yep, Don
Reagan Sorenson. It is the fourth on stout of the
quarter that I'll send us to the media timeout. That
was a rough couple of minutes there for the Blue Devils.
Scranton has the basketball out of bounds with a one
point league with Coure fifty six to go, in the
(01:26:39):
third and this crowd is now into it here for
the Royals, and we knew it was gonna be tough,
and it will continue to be as this game progresses.
We'll be back right after this with stout down one
here on your home for Blue double Basketball.

Speaker 6 (01:27:40):
I.
Speaker 1 (01:27:40):
I'm back to Scranton, Pennsylvania.
Speaker 2 (01:27:41):
The Scranton Royals leading South fifty three to fifty two
with four fifty six left to go on the third quarter.
Speaker 1 (01:27:47):
You didn't say it was going to be easy, did we?
Speaker 2 (01:27:49):
The Blue Devils had a nine point lead to start
this second half, but it is evaporated in the ten
not a ten ole run, but a basically a plus
ten run here for scrant over the last to five
four or five minutes of gameplay and Scranton now with
a one point lead and the basketball as Megan Lamana has.
Speaker 1 (01:28:08):
Hit eight of nine from beyond the arc.
Speaker 2 (01:28:10):
Stranton is ten of fourteen as a team from beyond
the arc, and that is two threes over what they
average per game. And they have a one point lead
with the basketball. Scout's been called for four fouls in
this third quarter. Nothing on Scranton yet, as Madison Malica
are going to check into the game for the second
time in this one. She's in there with Willie Shaffer,
Wagner and much for stout catches made by quickly inside
(01:28:33):
poked away by Wagner, but she stayed with it and
she made the bucket anyway over willing fifty five fifty two.
Scranton leads Stranton led by as many as nine early
in this game. Scouts led by as many as nine
as well. Here's Malika on the right wing. Malica looking
bad pass, Granson tips it and steals it into the
hands at harden it Hartne across the timeline Heartnet guarded
(01:28:55):
by shape for Heartnett looking right, She'll give it off
to Romanowski. Romanowski stop by, I'm Malica Romanowski moving in
on Malica top shot around her into scores fifty seven
fifty two. Royals lead it and they're on a nine
to ozero run. In the last two minutes a game play.
Here's Schaefer with a basketball chaffer looking to post a
Mallek inside said goes to Wagner up top around him
(01:29:17):
much dount needs a basket and they need it in
the worst way much. Gonna try to give it to
him into the lane the up and unders. She'll go
up with the right hand off the heel. No, and
Malica tries to come in. It's Willy who rips it away.
Willy then rolls it out and a foul calling the
Royals and they hate it. Oh my goodness, everybody up
and out of their seats. Four minutes to go in
the third still ton of time left in this game.
(01:29:37):
Scranton fifty seven stout fifty two. Sorenson back in with
the two fouls. Malica checks out, so Gison the only
starter on the bench for Stout. Right now, Schaffer inbounds
to much much on the left block, gets double team,
finds Willy going to the hoop, hopp the glass and
in nice fine there is she got double team fifty
seven fifty four Scranton three fifty to go. Oh. Here
(01:29:58):
in the third, Stout needs to re claim regain what
they had in the second quarter that gave them out
score Scranton twenty three to fifteen in that court or
an extra step there on that chance for Krantz and
Grantson guarded by Wagner. Stop that looked like a travel,
don't call They get Wagner t a five cook, but
she traveled twice and my pushas did not call it.
(01:30:26):
The fishers are coming over to talk to Hannah I
Emerson about something, and I think she's saying, hey, she
traveled twice and you missed it both times. First free
throw is good from Prance in fifty eight to fifty
four Scranton three thirty five left to play here in
the third, Wagner picks up her third foul. No sub
at the table for her, so they're gonna roll with
(01:30:48):
Wagner for the time being. Free throw is good as
well from Prance it in it well. Scranton hasn'tdangn a
lot of free throws, but they've hit all of them
five and five here in this game.
Speaker 1 (01:30:57):
Sout as nine of thirteen at the line. Here's much
on the left wing. It's Sorenson.
Speaker 2 (01:31:01):
Sorenson's got a wide open drive to the hoop and
a foul call I think on Lamana for a reach
and then she grabs at her face, saying she got
hit in the face. But I mean she grabbed on
to Sorenson first, which is probably why she got hit
in the face. There'll be no review here, Sorenson said
into the line, as that's a second foul on the loam.
(01:31:27):
Sorenson at the line here for Stout three twenty five
to go. Third quarter, first free throw good, fifty nine
to fifty five. Scrant Sorenson with twenty two points here tonight.
It's a moot point at this point. But Sorenson makes
the second free throw. She is now well over the
seventeen hundred point march. She is not gonna catch Julia
(01:31:49):
Herseig tonight. But I'm telling you what if Stell moves
on to the final four she's got a chance. Fifty
nine to fifty six Scranton. Here's a left handed scoop
lay up those around Wagner who's didn't pick up her
fourth found on the drive by Hearten, and and just
like that, it's back to a five point Scranton lead,
sixty one fifty six, three oh seven to go. In
the third quarter, Here is Much at the top of
the key, moves it off for Willy on the left
(01:32:09):
wing inside to Much Much on the left block one
on one off the window. Yes, right over top of haartnet. Great,
great determination and tenacity from Anna Much makes it a
three point game. Sixty one fifty eight scrant six forty
eight left to play. Here in this quarter, a drive
in from Lamana on Sorenson, tough left handed scoop rolls off,
Willy gets the rebound, good defense from Sorenson not to foul.
(01:32:33):
Willy brings it across the timeline herself. She goes inside
to Sorens and Sorenson back out to Willy. Not a
Wagner at the top for the tie. Yes, from three,
that's the Lexi Wagner we know. In LOM sixty one
all two twenty five left to play in the third
and a quick five oh run here for Stout. Here's Romanowski.
Romanowski had a poked away recollects on the right block,
picks up the dribble poked away by Shaper. What a
(01:32:54):
steel What defense from Sam Shaper? Shaper ahead to Wagner
at the timeline. Wagner takes it across steps into a
three and transition too strong. Willie gets the rebound here
per Stout. Slow it down, No, Wagner's gonna take another
one from the top. What to play? Sixty four sixty
one Stout, two minutes left to play in the third
and Stout regains the lead. They will not go quietly
(01:33:17):
here tonight, time out Scranton. Can you believe that run
from the Blue Devils? It was a nine ozer run
on the other side. Now an eight oh run per
Stout and they lead sixty four sixty one here with
one fifty three left to go in the third quarter.
It is a media timeout. We will pause. We will
come back Stout by three with eleven fifty three left
(01:33:39):
to play in the game. We'll be back right after
this here on your home for Blue Doubles basketball.

Now back to the NC DOUBLEA Tournament right here on
News Talk w me EQ.
Speaker 2 (01:34:31):
Welcome back to Scranton and to the John Long Center.
In a back and four third quarter here so far
now see Stout back up sixty four to sixty one
on Scranton, one fifty three to go in the third.
Speaker 1 (01:34:42):
Blue Devils were.
Speaker 2 (01:34:43):
Down by five just a few moments ago a couple
of different times, and now they've gone on this eight
oh run to get back up by three. They were
up six at halftime. The Blue Devils will I probably
Scranton rather will have the basketball to come out of
the time out. I can tell that Smith has advanced
to the Final four as well. They defeated the Stavis
(01:35:03):
Adulpha sixty one to fifty earlier. Tonight, NYU bea Gettysburg.
They are in the Final four. It is Oshkosh thirty
five Baldon Wallace twenty one at halftime in the other
Elite eight game, and this one's sixty four sixty one
stout one forty eight to go in the third quarter.
Speaker 1 (01:35:17):
This is Lamana.
Speaker 2 (01:35:18):
Lamana bounces off for Hartnand at the top of the
key hands it off here for Romanowski. Romanowski guard a
beautifully there by Sorens and tries to drive on her,
goes back out to Lamana. Geeson's all over Lamana. The
free throw line picks up the dribble at the elbow.
Can't get a shot off.
Speaker 1 (01:35:30):
Three a shoot.
Speaker 2 (01:35:30):
They gotta get a shot off here to drive in
from Hartnett. That one falls off and it hit the rim.
No shotlock violation, but a rebound for Wagner. They go
all the way up to Sorenson, in transition off the window. Yes,
Sorenson catches and Scranton not back on defense, and the
Blue Devils take back a five point lead. Sixty six
sixty one, one, fifteen to go. Third quarter, Scranton Basketball.
(01:35:52):
This is Heartnett into the post to quickly. She catches
deflected pass. Oh it deflected perfectly into the hands of
Frans and Quigley and Sorenson got tied up as well.
Speaker 1 (01:36:00):
Everybody seems to be okay.
Speaker 2 (01:36:01):
No foul call. Wagner finds Sorenson the other way. Sorenson
hands it off here to Willie, back to Sorenson, catches,
goes up, stares it sixty eight to sixty three, stout.
Fifty four seconds left to play in the third. See
if they try to go quick here to Scranton to
get a two for one. Romanowski the high wind and
right side hands it off here for Lamana. Lamana between
the circles, left handed shooter. She'll lay it off for quickly.
Speaker 1 (01:36:24):
At the top.
Speaker 2 (01:36:24):
They try to switch out with a small guard inside.
Now they'll try to get it to Cranson to the post.
She's guarded by geese and trying to hook around her.
Here she does no call and they're gonna geese him
for a foul despite the hook from Cranson. Also could
have been a travel there, but didn't get that either.
Thirty one point six to go here in the third,
and that will send Cranson to the line for free
throws with Stout up by five, and they should let
(01:36:48):
the subs in. Officials were letting him in initially. Chantelle
Thomas will and so we see a few of those
players off the bench. Here Bennett coming back in with
her foul trouble. She has been quiet tonight, has Beenett
zero points zero for two from the field. Is the
(01:37:08):
first free throw Rattles in Transon hits and again Scranton
perfect at the line, six of six in this game.
Thus far sixty eight to sixty four Stout thirty one
point six to go in the third. One more here
from Cranson. That one is gonna fall in as well.
Man get the home role as Reagan Sorenson receives the
inbounds pass all right across the timeline it goes, and
(01:37:32):
Scout's gonna hold on here about a second differential between
game and shacklock and try to hold for the as
close to the final shot of this quarter. As a
Ken Shafer holds onto the ball after a tip out
there by Sloan, who's being really aggressive. With only two
fouls call on Scranton in this quarter, it's Sorenson takes
a bump, now goes in and now they're gonna call
it charge. That's a bad call. I think initially partn
(01:37:55):
it that would have been a charge if she fell over.
They took a bump initially, and it probably was on Sorenson,
and then Sorenson actually got her out of position and
then she flopped backwards and Scott the call probably could
have called it the first time, didn't, and then when
they did call it, it was a bad call. As
Sorenson picks up her third ten point two to go.
Here in the third quarter, Stout sixty eight, Scranton sixty five.
(01:38:18):
Officials just a not a good sequence there for them,
as here slown across the timeline, Sloan moving right over
to Lamana trailing to play for three. That will miss
offensive rebound, put back won't go and that is the
end of the third quarter. But put back from Bennett
was not there, and the Blue Devils hold on to
a three point lead at the end of three ten
(01:38:38):
minutes left to decide who is going to the final four.

Now back to the NCUBLEA Tournament right here on News
Talk wme EQ.
Speaker 1 (01:39:35):
It is the NCAA Tournament.
Speaker 2 (01:39:36):
It is the fourth quarter of the Elite eight matchup
here between Stout and Scranton. It'll be Stout sixty eight
Stranton sixty five to start this fourth quarter. The Blue
Doubles outscored by the Royals twenty eight to twenty five
of that third quarter.
Speaker 1 (01:39:49):
Not a lot of defense to show between them and Man.
These two teams.
Speaker 2 (01:39:52):
I mean, Scranton shooting fifty eight percent from the field,
Stout shooting fifty five souts seven of twelve from beyond
the arc. Scranton ten of fifteen, twenty four for Lamana,
seventeen for Krantz, At eleven for Romanowski for Stout, twenty
seven for Shorrenson, sixteen for Geeseon and eleven for Annam
Much here's Lexi Wagner across the timeline. She'll bounce for
shaefer Man. Romanowski is all over her in this second half.
(01:40:13):
And a foul call, yeah, I mean think they had
to call it at some point. Are they called this
away from the ball?
Speaker 1 (01:40:20):
Well they did.
Speaker 2 (01:40:20):
They called it on a heart knet away from the ball.
That's her third. That's an interesting call. I thought for
sure they're gonna get Romanowski, but not the case. She
has only been called for one foul on it first
player with three here for the Royals, They'll go to
Wagner in the left corner. Wagner out to much and
much will slow it down here with nine to forty
five left to place Stout sixty eight, Scranton's sixty five
(01:40:42):
much on the right wing. She'll go out to Wagner
at the top, move it to Geeson on the left wing.
They left her open a shoot.
Speaker 1 (01:40:47):
She didn't.
Speaker 2 (01:40:47):
She said she's gonna drive to the hoop with the
right hand. Missed it, missed it around the beautiful defense.
They're a Bennett and it's Scranton basketball. Stout by three.
Nine thirty to go Romanowski crossing over on Shafer, but
by Shafer inside they rap my geeseon what from sam
shape for holy cow and then a bad pass on
the other side. It's stolen away from Cranson and then
Cranson a bad passing to the front court. Romanowski barely
(01:41:10):
held on to it in front of her own bench
man wild sequence there as Cranson has it back now
to Romanowski, they slow it down nine on eight to go.
Haarden it from the left wing, trying to drive on.
Wagner leaves her. Now Romanowski to the hoop of the
right hand too strong, rolls off. Sorenson's got it. Good
defense there from the Blue Devils. Sorenson's gonna bring it
up here for Stout. Sorenson looking left, She's gonna try
(01:41:31):
to move right instead.
Speaker 1 (01:41:32):
She'll stop.
Speaker 2 (01:41:33):
She'll go out to Wagner for a three that is
off the front. No, and it's rebound to by heartnet Man.
Wagner has just not had the range here tonight as
she would like. She is two of six, still two
of seven, excuse me, still good, but not quite up
to her standard to drive in here from Lamana. She'll
pick up the dribble. Tried to roll out there up
top and they throw it away, throw it away on
the baseline. They were trying to find Bennett In's side
(01:41:53):
and they threw it too far, and it's a turnover
to Spout. Willy gonna check back game here for the
Blue Devils. Eight thirty four to go in the fourth
the eighth Scranton sixty five. So nobody has scored in
this fourth quarter as of yet. Geson and Schaeffer are
gonna get a quick wrest here again. No a, Lissa
Lodermeyer Tona, I'm here for Stout. So Madison malink has
tried to step into that spot. Stout basically playing a
(01:42:16):
four player rotation or a seven player rotation here tonight,
which is too off the bench. Sorenson drives into the
lane on the other end. Sorenson back out to Wagner
around the much on the left wing. She tried to
find Sorenson flashing instead, will go to Willy off on
the right side. Willie looking nobody getting open as of yet,
much gonna catch it at the right block much trying
to go up, spins hangs, goes up. No. Sorenson gets
the ball back nine to shoot. Sorenson rolls it out
(01:42:38):
to much much with the ball fake. She drives again,
deflected and stolen away by Quigley. Probably could have settled
for a three outside. Would have liked that a little
bit better after the initial drive.
Speaker 1 (01:42:46):
They didn't get it.
Speaker 2 (01:42:47):
Sixty eight to sixty five stout, eight minutes left to play.
Still nobody has scored in this fourth quarter as of yet. Hartnett,
driving into Lamana in the corner, thought about the three,
passed it up, hesitates, pounces out on the right ballpake
from three for Krantz and drives on Wagner. Barked inside
by Lexi. Wagner and Mary Berg dives to the floor
to get it, and we'll have a jump ball, and
Scranton's got the arrow. No one had possession, though, so
(01:43:09):
it will stay eight to shoot. I believe, I don't
think anything hit the rim right, and they're gonna let
Amanda Giesen back into the game. Officials are talking here,
and I don't think we're gonna get a review. Seven
forty six left to play in the four Stout sixty
eight Scranton sixty five. Who's gonna score? Who's gonna score
first in this quarter? It's gonna be Scranton. That's a
(01:43:29):
beautiful play out of the inbound Partnet catches it off
the baseline. Stout lost her. It's a one point game.
Wagner brings it across here, with Romanowski providing pressure up
to Much on the left wing. Sixty eight sixty seven.
Here in favor of Stout, Much takes contact high off
the glass. No, it bounces about Much grabs it. She
goes up mose he was bout no call. Oh my goodness,
quickly hacked her and they didn't call it. Here's Romanowski
(01:43:51):
the other way sixty eight sixty seven. Stout Romanowski at
the top drives in past Wagner, she goes and scores
it if it says sixty nine sixty eight.
Speaker 1 (01:44:01):
League for Scranton was seven to twelve. Left to play.
Speaker 2 (01:44:04):
Gotta fight through the calls that don't go your way,
the bounces, it don't go your way at this point.
Now Willy gets hacked that they got to call a
foul here, and they do on Cranson. It's gotta be called.
I mean, Willy got her arm hacked initially, and she
tried to dribble and got grabbed. So that is just
the first on Cranson. As Wagner will check out here
(01:44:26):
for Stout, Schaefer, Sorens and Geese and much and Willy.
The five of the floor for the Blue Devils and
bounds will go to Willie. Between the circles. She'll find
much much dribbles left seven minutes left to go, Scranton
by one, much to the free throw line. Look at
a drive in she will with the left hand. No,
but a foul called on Harton. I believe that's her fourth.
Speaker 11 (01:44:47):
It is.
Speaker 2 (01:44:47):
It is her fourth, and Scranton hates it. Gardin it
just averages six point two a game. The grad student, though,
provides a lot of leadership for this team on the courts,
shaking her head, upset with the officials, and to the
line goes on a much with six fifty five left
to play.
Speaker 1 (01:45:06):
Stout down one Anna Much at the line. She's got eleven.
Speaker 2 (01:45:09):
Points tonight, and that's her first free throwing. It rattles
out eleven of sixteen at the line, first south tonight. Remember,
Stout went almost perfect against Whitman, twenty three out of
twenty four. They missed their last free throw the game,
Munch with one more to try to tie it here,
(01:45:29):
she'll make it.
Speaker 1 (01:45:30):
Sixty nine all, six fifty five to go. The Samuel L.
Speaker 2 (01:45:35):
Jackson said in the movie Jurassic Park, hold on to
your butts, six fifty to play. Here in the fourth,
here's Lamana Hi right to Quigley quickly moves out for
Heartnet with four fouls. Heartnet guarded by Shaper in the post.
Keeson steps in from the pass, gets a steal. She's
gonna try to break it the other way. Heartnett gets back.
She'll avoid the contact, but Geeson will score it anyway.
(01:45:57):
Stout seventy one scrand sixty nine, six twenty nine left
to play Here in the fourth, and the Blue Devils
trying to figure out away what a game this has been? Lomana,
who has eight threes, hands it off here to Romanowski.
She drives in the lane, pokes it off her leg
on that reach in there. She's open, didn't take the shot. Instead,
Cranson into the corner out to Romanowski on the high
(01:46:18):
left side, tend to shoot. Romanowski moves it off on
the right for Hart and Hertner looks to drive on
Sorens and hertne it into the lane. Willie picks her
up defensively, tough turnaround Jay, no rebound, Geeson, Geson's got
it for the Blue Devils. Geeson finds Schaefer on the
outlet and Shaffer pushes apace. Oh want to find a
Sornson she's alone, goes up, hangs fires, heads Sorens into
(01:46:39):
the line for an an one seventy three sixty nine,
Blue Devils, five fifty four left to play. Foul called
on Lamana her third. What a play that was? Free
throw is by Sorenson short seventy three sixty nine, Scranton,
(01:47:04):
And you can feel the nerves starting to creep in
here a little bit for the Blue Devils. Romanowski between
the circles, bounces left on the high wine and left
side guarded by Shaper. So how kind of sagging off
the three point line just a bit here? Haartne It
now goes in the post to Cranson, grants it with
a turnaround right hand shot, rolls it in over top
of Shaper. Seventy three seventy one stout five point thirty
three to go here on the four by Sorenson. What
(01:47:24):
a play. The lay up good and Scranton having a
hard time getting back defending Reagan Sorenson seventy five seventy
one Blue Devils, and the Blue Devils score seventy points
or more this season.
Speaker 1 (01:47:39):
They are nineteen and three entry pass.
Speaker 2 (01:47:42):
They go up with the right hand an extra step there,
It looked like no call and the layup goes seventy
five seventy three south five oh five to go. Sorenson
catches in transition. Now back to Willy on the right wing,
geieson up top Geeson looking in nothing there, She'll go
to Much on the left side. Much now up top
to Willy. Willy over to Geeson on the right Wing's
gonna drive to the hoop. She goes up with the
right hand and scores it through the trees and seventy
(01:48:04):
seven seventy three stout four forty eight left to play
here in the fourth What a game this has been.
Somebody's got to get a stop as now all of
a sudden, the bucket has opened up. Here's Romanowski between
the circles. Who's off on the left side for Harden
at entry pass goes into Krantson. Kranson back and back
down Geese and they go out to Lamana. She was
not open that time, quickly guarded by uh Willy inside
(01:48:27):
they go into the corner.
Speaker 1 (01:48:28):
Now that's s Lamana. Back to Quigley five to shoot.
Speaker 2 (01:48:31):
Quigley loses the basketball, stole away by Sorenson. Much gonna
slow it down here for the Blue Devils four eighteen
to go stout by four much across the timeline, much
into Sorenson in the post.
Speaker 1 (01:48:43):
Sorenson out to Schaeffer a rare three on the way.
Speaker 2 (01:48:46):
It will not go.
Speaker 1 (01:48:47):
It just rolls off trying to get a steel air.
Speaker 2 (01:48:50):
Shafer gonna get called for the foul as she fouls
Hartnett first foul on stout of the fourth quarter, and
that sends us to the media timeout. I believe with
four oh four to go, we not taking the media timeout.
Apparently we're blowing through the media timeout. It looks like
four oh four to play. Officials have forgotten about the
media timeout. I should be taking the media timeout. It's
(01:49:13):
Stout seventy seven, Scrouting seventy three. I think they're checking
to make sure that there should be one more I
believe there should for the under five and we should
get one more pause here before we resume, and they
will take a media timeout.
Speaker 1 (01:49:26):
Yeah, that is the case in media time out takeing.
Speaker 2 (01:49:29):
It's Stout seventy seven, Scranton seventy three. Gonna be a
good finish with four oh four left to play. We'll
be back right after this here on your home for
Blue Devils basketball.

Now back to the NC Double A Tournament right here
on News Talk wm EQ.
Speaker 2 (01:50:26):
Welcome back in here to the John Long Center in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
Stout seventy seven, Scranton seventy three, four oh four to
go in the fourth quarter, the Blue Devils leading by four.
They have outscored Scranton by one in this fourth quarter
nine to eight. Stout is five of eleven from the
field in the quarter and Scranton four of eight from
the field as well. Here in the fourth Stout shooting
(01:50:49):
fifty one percent from the field, seven to fourteen from
beyond the arc. Scranton is ten to fifteen from beyond
the arc and twenty eight of forty nine from the
field for fifty seven percent. Stout as being rebound in
twenty six to twenty four. At the moment, I want
to spend the turnovers that have struggled for Scranton, and
they have turned the ball over thirteen times stouting just
six times. Physicality has turned them over, and the points
(01:51:11):
off of turnovers right now is kind of a difference
fifteen to seven in favor of the Blue Devils. Heartnet
gonna inbound here for Scranton, and then she'll bring it
up for the Royals. Four minutes left to play here
on the media timeout. Scranton's got two timeouts left, South
has three, and again you can advance the ball under
two minutes. At the end of this game as well,
Lamana was open and hesitated on the three boy that's
been their offense tonight. Lamana bouncing out. Oh, she looks
(01:51:33):
like she double dribbled. No call, picked up the dribble
now and drive from Crantzon in on much. Oh, a
big screen put on much and then she got taken
out of the play and then a pass deflected. It's
solely a by Shaffer, and then she threw it away
to Romanowski. Romanowski now the other way, Shaffer defends. They
get it off on the right and she loses it
out of bound. Stop basketball, let's go. Hartnett loses it
(01:51:53):
out of bounds, just kind of never had a handle
on the ball, and it was hard for them to
call foul. I think the officials there in that situation
they wanted a foul call, but she just never had
the ball, and it's hard to call that foul on
that drive on the find as she never had a
clear kind.
Speaker 1 (01:52:10):
Of handle on the basketball.
Speaker 2 (01:52:13):
Stout's got the starters back out as Reagan Sorenson will
bring it forward here for the Blue Devils seventy seven
to seventy three. Stout three twenty seven to play. It's
Amanda Geeseen from the right wing looking to get inside
here to Wagner and still she'll go to Sorenson at
the top of the key. Sorenson drives, gets around the
initial contact. Then it's blocked inside by Ranson for a
lot of contact.
Speaker 1 (01:52:32):
No call.
Speaker 2 (01:52:33):
They are letting him play. Here's Romanowski the other way,
Stout by four. Romanowski guarded by Wagner. Not the right
matchups here, I think defensively for Stout. Let's see if
they can switch out Wagner depending on Romanowski. Romanowski hesitates
at the right elbow, she kicks it back out on
the left wing to heart hartnet inside.
Speaker 1 (01:52:47):
To quickly she catches goes up.
Speaker 2 (01:52:49):
This is the shot. Wagner tips it and it is
stepping out of us. She stepped out at homes. They
didn't call it. Here's harden it now the kick it
back out seventeen to shoot a drive in from Cranson
with the left hand and it goes She was stepping
out of bounds and they missed it. Holy cow, seventy
seven seventy five Stout two.
Speaker 1 (01:53:06):
Forty to go here in the fort soouth's.
Speaker 2 (01:53:08):
Gotta calm it down here, I gotta calm it down
much with the basketball for Sorenson on the right wing.
Sorenson at the free throw line. Sorenson into the lane
ball fake there, goes up, had it poked away, stays
with it, kicks it out to Geeson. Geson drives cut
off there by Cranson on the drive and then poked
away and stolen away by the Royals. Hartnett has it
back to Romanowski Stout seventy seven Scranton seventy five two
(01:53:30):
point fifteen to play. Royals can tire or take the
lead on this possession. This is Romanowski between the circles
off on the left wing for Heartne Hartnet in the
post to Kranton Cranson back it down Sorenson, Whoopster didn't
get the call again and she'll score it, and we're.
Speaker 1 (01:53:46):
Tied at seventy seven. Two minutes left to play. South.
Speaker 2 (01:53:51):
Gotta get a little bit stronger there defensively. Here's shaper
across the timeline and here comes a crowd. Shaefer gets
a screen there from Sorenson. She picks up the dribble
shape for looking for the entry has It's not there.
It's peasin at the top of the key for Anna
Much on the right wing. Ana Much goes up top
to Wagner. Wagner catches down by her hip, gives it
off to Geeson on the left wing, gets a couple
(01:54:12):
of screens. Gotta get a pass off here. Only five
to shoot to go to Schaeffer, back to Sorenson, three two.
She steps into a top three off the heel, no
long remound off for Romanowski, toots one twenty five to
go Here in the fourth seventy seven all stout out
of sorts, the last couple of possessions and the royals
have taken advantage. Who devils need to defend now more
(01:54:33):
than ever. Don't let an easy layup get through. Here's
hearten it guarded by Enna Much between the circles for
Romanowski won oh seven to play tie ball game at
seventy seven. Martin it we're gonna go inside here, bad pass.
It's thrown away by Geeson. They couldn't find Grants and
Geeson gonna try to transition the other way. Geson takes
it to the Hoho lo call there on the contact,
she misses the bucket out to Wagner. She was not
(01:54:55):
open for three. She dribbles into the free throw line
out to much much out on the right wing, back
up to Wagner. Paul Bake from three over to shape
for timeout taken with forty five point eight to go,
timeout Stout twelve to shoot, tied at seventy seven, and
good time out there by Hannah Iverson. Now the shot
clock's gonna kind of necessitate this, but Stout's gonna be
(01:55:18):
able to get a two for one in this situation,
So they should get two more possessions and hopefully two
more shots, and Scranton just one if everything works out
right here. So about again, twelve seconds left on the
shot block, forty five point eight left in the game.
We are tied at seventy seven here tonight, and what
(01:55:40):
I'm sure is likely the best game so far as
the lead eight that we're gonna get tonight, most of
the other games were not terribly close. In back Oshkosh
leading forty one to twenty five. Right now in Baldon
Wallace with four twenty three left in the third man alive.
Stout can't make it easy, can they. Soren'sn't gonna enbound.
Right of her bench is Amanda Geeson is the one
(01:56:02):
who gets open. She'll catch tend to shoot. They go
too much much, hands off to wagoner up top over
to much. They want to try to find swords, and
instead it's much with borda shoot, loses the basketball to Geeson. Ball,
bake there, gotta take it. She goes up with the
right hand nick off the window at the buzzer of
the shock clock.
Speaker 1 (01:56:19):
And what do we have here? I think the clock.
Speaker 2 (01:56:22):
They're gonna take a review to make sure that the
clock stopped as it should. Stout leads seventy nine to
seventy seven. The ball was clearly out of Geeson's hand
when the shock clock went off, so the basket's gonna count.
I'm sure they'll look at that as well. But my
guess is that the clock did not stop right away
after the mad bucket, and that is what they're gonna
(01:56:43):
take a look at. So they're probably gonna add some
time back to the clock. But what a play by
Amanda Geeson seventy nine, seventy seven Stout. And look, I mean, Scranton,
if this basket stands, which it should. Again, we don't
have a monitors, we don't have the help of that.
But at least from the naked eye, it looked like
Geeson clearly got that ball off in time. By the
(01:57:06):
naked eye, she should have that ball now. Scranton, you
know you can't hold here for a final shot. You're
down twosday. You got to go and get a bucket,
regardless of what happens and see what or again, regardless
of how this is working, and then see what happens
from there.
Speaker 1 (01:57:24):
Oh my goodness.
Speaker 2 (01:57:26):
Seventy nine seventy seven Stout with the lead Blue Doubles,
had a six point lead at halftime.
Speaker 1 (01:57:31):
It dwindled to three at the end of the third.
Speaker 2 (01:57:33):
It's down to two as Stout has been outscored by
Scranton twelve to eleven in this fourth quarter. Reagan Sorenson
with thirty one points here tonight her career high was
set a few years ago against Aurora of thirty six.
Most points for a blue double in a game is
thirty nine in Stout history. They're looking at this again.
(01:57:56):
They're not gonna I can't imagine they wave off the basket.
I think they're just looking for time. Pack Man of
Geeson just went to one of the officials, Alissa Han,
and said, is the basket good or are you just
looking at the clock. And she pointed at the clock
and said, we're just looking at the clock. So the
basket's gonna count if Alyssa Han's word is worth listening to,
and I'd imagine it is, and she's won o the
(01:58:16):
three officials here tonight, officials are still at the monitor
trying to look at the clock situation. And again, I
think the issue is is when the clock stopped after
the main bucket. So my guess is we're adding some
time back on to the main clock. So you're probably
gonna be looking at thirty one something. It will be,
my guests, not gonna be a lot. But it is
a time for Stout to kind of talk about this
(01:58:38):
as they are getting basically an extra.
Speaker 1 (01:58:41):
Time out here.
Speaker 2 (01:58:43):
Stout has two Scranton has two, and so I think
they're letting them know how much time is left thirty
three point two. So they did add some time, so
it did run almost three seconds off the clock. So
thirty three point two left to play at a new
thirty here for Scranton is out leads seventy nine seventy
seven over the Royals. Lamana is out there. She has
(01:59:05):
made eight threes to night. Hartnet has a three. Cranston
has a three. She's one of four. Heartnet one on one.
So we'll see if they go to three route, Lamana
gonna take it forward, hands it off here to Heartnett.
Hartnett picks up the dribble quickly, is left alone out
on the right wing, looking inside. Nothing there. Now, she
will pause, She'll get it to Lamana. Lamana on the
high right side. Nineteen seconds left in the game. A
three second differencial between game and shacklock. A drive in
(01:59:27):
for Romanowski finds Cuity goes he threw it out of bounds.
Oh my goodness, he threw it out of bounds. If
the turnover to stout. Thirteen point four left to play.
Scranton has committed four fouls in the quarter. So Stout's
gonna go to the line on one foul Here got
a timeout taken by Hannah Iverson which will allow her
to advance the ball with thirteen point four remaining, Soout
(01:59:48):
has one time out left, Scranton has two.
Speaker 1 (01:59:51):
Seventy nine seventy seven Stout.
Speaker 2 (01:59:53):
With thirteen point four left to go, And if Scranton
does not come out on top here tonight, they are
gonna rue the turnovers. They've turned the ball over seventeen
times here tonight. Unbelievable. The Blue Devils made history last
night with making the Elite eight for the first time
(02:00:17):
in program history, and they have a chance to continue
that history tonight if they can hold on.
Speaker 1 (02:00:29):
But that's what they need to do is hold time.
My goodness.
Speaker 2 (02:00:33):
Seventy nine seventy seven Stout with the lead thirteen point
four left to play. Stout's gonna inbound in the front
court Schaffer to get it in here to Sorenson.
Speaker 1 (02:00:41):
She will.
Speaker 2 (02:00:42):
Sorenson is fouled and immediately by Cranson. Cranson called for
her third Stout to the line with Reagan Sorenson. Sorenson
is six of nine at the free throw line tonight.
Stout leading by two and there's the Scranton student section
that's right behind the bucket that Sorenson is shooting too
to make some noise, and she'll make the first eighty
(02:01:04):
to seventy seven Blue Devils twelve point one to go.
This free throw makes it a two possession game.
Speaker 1 (02:01:13):
Sorenson with one more and it is out.
Speaker 2 (02:01:16):
It rims Out start driving for the rebound and Geeson
got there a ju ball and Stout's got the arrow. Wow,
Amanda Geeson dives out of nowhere to grab the board.
Speaker 1 (02:01:26):
They tie it up and Stout's got it on the arrow.
Speaker 2 (02:01:29):
Stout eighty Scranton's seventy seven, ten seconds even left to play.
Speaker 1 (02:01:35):
Shaeffer to inbound.
Speaker 2 (02:01:36):
Schaeffer looking Shaffer gets it into Geeson in the corner
in a offensive foul called the foul was called on
Scranton before the inbound before the inbound a foul called
on Hartnett initially pointed and said it was on Sorenson,
and then Alyssa Han corrected herself and said, no, it's
(02:02:00):
on partn It and that is her fifth part undergrad
student could have been her last game. So Sorenson at
the line. They did run point one off I don't
know if they're gonna put that back on or not.
I don't think they are, So nine point nine to go.
Stout's got two free throws here with Sorenson first one,
No good, Oh my goodness, eighty to seventy seven, Stout,
(02:02:24):
you just need one, and you need this one. Sorenson's
seven of twelve at the line. You can tell the
nerves are getting to her. Seconds. It's good. Eighty one
seventy seven Blue Devils time out Scranton. They'll advance the
ball Stout by four here with nine point nine left
to play. Oh my goodness, that free throw will give
(02:02:56):
Sorenson now thirty three points here tonight. They have not
marked it in the stat system as if yet, but
she has thirty three points there. It goes eight of
thirteen at the free throw line, twelve of nineteen from
the field. Stout is fifty percent from the field, thirty
of sixty tonight Scranton thirty of fifty two for fifty
seven percent, ten of fifteen from beyond the arc. But
(02:03:19):
again the problem for Scranton has been the turnovers. They've
turned it over seventeen times to the eight of Stout,
and the Blue Devils have scored eighteen points off the turnovers,
just nine points off at turnovers for Scranton this evening,
Hartnett has fouled out with nine points and five rebounds.
(02:03:39):
Blue Devil fans chanting loud on the far stands as
they are nine point nine seconds away with one time
on left for each team, a two possession lead. Eighty
one seventy seven heroovers Scranton. You don't need a three here,
but with under ten seconds you almost have to take it.
I think if you're Scranton, you gotta find somebody opening.
(02:04:01):
Of course, Lomano will be on the court, as she
has hit eight out of ten here tonight. Inbounds will
come from the near sideline here away from the bench.
They'll get this one in off on the right block.
She lost it initially there to Granson. Cranston tries to
find a pass out she won't. Shafer Steels are away
with four with three sprint knocking a fall. The dream
(02:04:23):
is real. The dream is real. The Blue Devils are
headed to the final four. Eighty one seventy seven over Spring.
Can you believe it? The UW stop Blue Devils are
headed to the Final four in Salem Virginia as they
(02:04:44):
complete the next biggest upset in the twenty twenty five
tournament this year. Unbelievable Sam Shafer with the defense and
the steel.
Speaker 1 (02:04:58):
There are tiers.
Speaker 2 (02:04:59):
They are happy as the Blue Devils have won four
in a row and they are headed to the Final
four next week. And those fans are going absolutely crazy.
Stout eighty one Scranton's seventy seven here in Scranton, Pennsylvania
(02:05:20):
as a Blue Devils snap a thirty two game winning
streak for the Royals here on this very floor, Folks,
I'm you'd ask my wife. I'm not speechless often I'm speechless.
I am absolutely one percent speechless. There's hardware coming home
(02:05:44):
to Monominee.
Speaker 1 (02:05:46):
WHOA.
Speaker 2 (02:05:48):
I just looked at my phone, which I'm trying to
record this out here, and I just saw a couple
of texts come in and I can't read them on
the air, Folks. People are shocked, and people are very
very excited. Wow, there'll be a trophy presentation here at
half court. We'll keep it here for a moment before
we go to our postgame show. We will try to
get a player up here with us tonight after the
(02:06:12):
ten minute cool off and the press conference, Hannah Iverson
goes out to mid court man of Geese and Adam Mot,
Regan Sorenson, Sam Schaeffer, Lexi Wagner, all the seniors, all
eight of the seniors, billing Sophie Moran, who was ineligible.
Speaker 1 (02:06:26):
To play this year with an injury.
Speaker 2 (02:06:28):
They will lift the trophy in the air and they've
got a big kind of one of those big checks
you in at the end of a PGA Tour event.
It says ticket punched on it with the NCAA logo.
They are headed to Salem, Virginia on Thursday. Hugs all
the way around, and it's a final four for the
(02:06:49):
first time in program history. Men's basketball a number of
years ago, back in the sixties, before the final four
was really a thing, back when it was the nai
made it to the NAIA Tournament a couple of times
once in nineteen sixty nine. You go back to the
nineteen forties, they made it to the national tournament, but
never to this stage. And it's the women's basketball program
(02:07:13):
under the tutelage and under the supervision of Hannah Iverson,
a local kid who was born in Oaklaire, Wisconsin, was
the leading point getter for all those years in Husky
history until this year. Went to UW Green Bay, got
that Phoenix team to the Sweet sixteen twice, never got
to the Final four as a player. She's done it
(02:07:35):
as the head coach of the UW Stoyle Blue Devils
here in twenty twenty five, defeating a Scranton team coached
by Ben O'Brien who's only lost five times now six
in three years. Celebrations at mid court happy tears, which
(02:07:59):
are way better than sad ones Here tonight in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
A couple of presentations still going on. There will be
a net cutting down ceremony here as well. Unbelievable here tonight. Well, Dan,
I planned on going to postgame show, but we're gonna
(02:08:20):
keep it here because there's net cutting. I'll tell you what,
Why don't we take a minute break and we'll come
back with our postgame show, Dan, and then we will
talk a little bit about who's cutting down the nets
as doing Nats and Aaron Sullivan give hugs to Hannah
Iverson as a Blue Devils our Final four bound. Can
you believe it? I gotta send some text messages to
get a player up here a Blue Devil chant being
(02:08:47):
led by Alissa Lodermeyer, who tried to give it a
go last night. She only played four minutes and just
the injury was too much and she said, I can't
go tonight. She was in tears after the game. There,
she's not in tears now. She is celebrating with her team.
She's got her jersey on with the sweats on as well.
(02:09:11):
There's the announcement indeed, we will as Anna much. She's
not gonna let that trophy go. I don't think she's
just hanging on to it, hugging it, kissing. It's walking her.
She don't know what to do with it. She's walking
right now. She's gonna give it to Sam Schaeffer. She
had the big steal late and a big play for
(02:09:33):
her here this evening. They're gonna go cut the nets down,
so there might be a little while until that press
conference gets going. Maybe we can get a player up
here at some point before that press they're gonna let
to listen to Lodermeyer make the first incision in.
Speaker 1 (02:09:48):
That net here tonight.
Speaker 2 (02:09:48):
They're gonna put the ticket punch board up there right
on the backboard as well, and try to get that
perched and they have done that nicely. As Alyssa Lonermeyer
makes the first cut on that net, Oh my goodness.
The parents are gathering around the bucket at the end
to our right, and they've got the Werner letter, which
(02:10:11):
is the official letter sponsor of the NCAA. And it's
now Alison Letcher who will make the next cut? Did
not play to I played a little bit last night,
senior from Goodhu, Minnesota, and we'll see a number of
the Who Devil's seniors likely get the first cuts here.
They're gonna let Sophie Moran go up there, so if
(02:10:31):
he got to be a student manager this year. She
was not physically able to play this year with an
injury and wanted to play our senior season. I believe
intends to graduate and not come back next year. And
so she got student manager abilities and they let her
get that piece of net right there, And now the
(02:10:52):
chance began as to who is going to get to
cut down the next piece in at Reagan Sorens and next.
Speaker 1 (02:10:58):
Five steps up to the platform on that Werner ladder
and off you go.
Speaker 2 (02:11:04):
And Brent, her uncle who puts together the highlight videos
on Twitter after every games, got the best angle in
the house down there right under the hoop. Right now,
lex is the next chant. Regan Soornson doesn't know how
to hand off a pair of scissors that got dangerously
close to her face. But Lexi Wagner will be the
(02:11:25):
next to cut that one down as well, and she
will make the trip down. And now we get again
all the chants here. Sam is the next chance. Sam
Schaeffer will make the trip up. Sam Shaeffer from DeForest
again played her high school teammate yesterday in Whitewater and
Maggie Trout and boy they had a great battle, and
(02:11:46):
so did Sam Shaffer against Casey Paralo, the all time
leading scorer in Whitewater history. And Shaffer did one heck
of a job trying to limit her. Hey, Annah much
gonna rile up the crowd now as she makes her
way up the ladder as well to get a piece
of the net, and she will cut this down as well.
I forgot about the net cutting down ceremony. Dan said,
we're gonna keep it right here. Why not, as it
(02:12:08):
will be celebrations here for the parents tonight well into
the night. Leave the Blue Devil's team plane is leaving
early tomorrow, so I'm sure the parents won't care though.
They're gonna stay up and they're gonna paint the town
blue here in Scranton, Pa. Na Geeson the next player
(02:12:28):
to cut the nets down, and Iverson will be the last.
Speaker 1 (02:12:33):
Some of the fun parts.
Speaker 2 (02:12:34):
They don't have final four hats down there, but it's
one of the fair parts is tying up that net
into the hats. But they're just putting it in on
their ear, on their headbands, on their ponytails, wherever they
can get that piece of net to go is now.
Rosello Willie will be the next up to cut down
(02:12:55):
a piece of that net as well. That net will
drape the regional champion in chip trophy that will be
displayed prominently in the halls of Johnson Field House back
in Menomine, Wisconsin. And I don't know what they planned
for the arrival. I believe the plane is or at
least the team is expected to be back into town
(02:13:16):
around twelve thirty Central tomorrow after noon in that range.
I don't know if they planned a parade or at
least a welcome wagon, but i'd imagine some folks back
in Menomine are going to get together to welcome this
team back. As Maria Wiltrout gets a piece, Now Molly
bill is gonna get a piece. Maria Wiltrout from Cambridge,
Minnesota didn't play a ton this year. Neither did Molly
(02:13:37):
Bills from Hoka, Minnesota. The Crescent Hoka is where she
played her high school ball, and she'll hold that piece
high and celebrate with her team as well. Are running
out of players here to get a piece of this
that Molly Garber hasn't gone. At least Dall hasn't gone.
There's a least doll at least All from just down
(02:13:59):
the road, and Ostio Child makes her way up the
ladder as well for a.
Speaker 1 (02:14:02):
Piece of net uw Stout. They don't again.
Speaker 2 (02:14:12):
I mean, they've got a great women's basketball pedigree, there's
no doubt about that. But when Hannah Iverson came in
to take this program over, she took this program to
a whole new level. It wasn't pretty the first year
when she took over, but this Blue Double team has
fought back.
Speaker 1 (02:14:27):
They have figured out a way.
Speaker 2 (02:14:31):
As climbing the ladder there as Molly Garber from Blayane,
Minnesota gets a piece on that net as well, and
now Gray Shizzle, who transferred into Stout at mid semester
mid to season, I should say, in between semester from
Hosting Wisconsin and a Grandview University transfer, hoping that she
get more playing time here throughout the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (02:14:53):
She's gonna be a big piece of.
Speaker 2 (02:14:54):
This team next year, Madison Malaka, I mean, really talented
fresh and she will start next year for the Blue Devils,
There's no doubt about that. The freshman from Savage, Minnesota
and Burnsville High School. We'll get a piece of the
net as well. I'd imagine we'll see Julia Rye backing
next because I haven't seen her yet and I can't
think of anybody else who's gone up there. Malka doing
(02:15:17):
a good dance out on that ladder, sending all of
the staff here probably freaking out.
Speaker 1 (02:15:23):
Oh it's mary Burg.
Speaker 2 (02:15:24):
How could I forget about the monominy mustang in mary
Burg who makes her way up the ladder as well,
And she'll get a nice piece of that souvenir, big smiles,
tough for Scranton right, suffer everybody. I mean, let me
think about as mary Berg holds that high in the air,
think about it. I mean, sixty three teams go home
(02:15:46):
sad from this tournament. And for my money, again, you
get past the elite eight, you got nothing to be
sad about. Whenever you go off the rest of the way.
National Championship is amazing. It changes lives. But so just
get into the final four. Julia Rai Backy holds out
in the air. Anna Ericson, the other student manager, will
(02:16:10):
make her way up to a cut off a piece
on that net as well. One of my favorite memories
living in Lawrence, Kansas was twenty twelve when a team
that wasn't supposed to make the Final four made the
Final four. Tyshawn Taylor and all those guys got all
the way to the championship game lost to Kentucky as
(02:16:31):
they help Kytlie Hebert now Kylie Fanning, the former great
for the Blue Devils, get up there. She is a
couple weeks away from being due with her first kid,
and boy, that's a nice moment for her. It was
great for her to be able to even get here
to Scranton. That's a whole other story in and of itself.
And al Brook Olson in her first season here as
(02:16:53):
an assistant coach for Stout is helped lead this team,
the University of Minnesota DA LUTI to stand out in
that conference. She knows about these stages of the NCAA tournament,
and Hannah Iverson, who's got kids in tow, has to
put him down before she heads up the ladder to
cut down the nets, and she'll get the last cut
(02:17:17):
and there will be plenty of cameras going on this one.
Speaker 1 (02:17:23):
Tell you what, the biggest.
Speaker 2 (02:17:24):
Cheerleader down there right now is Chancellor Frank. She's going
nuts and Iverson swings at net in the air, throws
it down at Adam much as there you go, drape
that around that big old trophy you just got.
Speaker 1 (02:17:37):
It was tough.
Speaker 2 (02:17:38):
When Stout lost the semi final in the Wyak Tournament
against Whitewater, you thought, man, that might have been the
last chance at some hardware this season.
Speaker 1 (02:17:45):
Well we were wrong. Let's go blue.
Speaker 2 (02:17:49):
Indeed, as the chance rained down, they were gonna be
some press conferences coming up.
Speaker 1 (02:17:52):
We'll hopefully get a player up here.
Speaker 2 (02:17:54):
We've definitely gotten past the ten minute cool down period,
so there's a last year. You'll hear as they hold
that high in the air and pieces of net draping
it as well. Run in the purple paint at the
end to our right here at the John Long Center
in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Let's take a two minute timeout. Nan
two minutes, we're gonna try to run a player up here.
In just a moment, we'll take a break. Be back
(02:18:15):
with our post game show right after this here on
your home for Blue Devil's Basketball.

Hey, if you're even thinking about a metal roof, probably
because you've heard about it from the Yorkstrand. I mean,
come on, before the Yorkstrand, nobody bragged about better metal
roofs because they didn't do them. Only one company's been
doing them all these years. They do it better than
everybody else. Quicker, better quality, and a better price. Hey,
(02:19:48):
don't go with some metal roof rookie that's learning on
your house.
Speaker 10 (02:19:51):
Go with the leader. Yorks two three seven, twenty six,
seventy eight.

Speaker 3 (02:20:27):
Now back to the NCUBLEA Tournament right here on News
Talk wme EQ.
Speaker 2 (02:20:35):
He welcome back in here to the John Long Center
as we are in Stcram, Pennsylvania, and Stout has made
history as they make the final four for the first
time in program history. They made the Elite eight for
the first time in program history last night, and now
they make the final four here tonight with the win
over Scran eighty one to seventy seven Pecanots. And with
you Dan Price back at studio and you were listening
to Sotouth basketball here on Newstock wmq AMA eighty menominee,
(02:20:58):
Translitter W two nine two E six point three FMO
player and iHeartRadio Station. Casey Parrott is working hard to
try to break somebody away from the huddle down there
and bring somebody up to our postgame show. And so
he's gonna work on that. I don't think they're going
to go down to the press conference for a little while.
Here just because of all the celebrations that are happening
(02:21:20):
down on the court at the moment. Man hugs all
the way around for this squad as we can't even
believe it. And I think Casey Parrott has grabbed Anna much.
I'm going to try to send her up as well,
but I'm not sure it's going to happen for a while.
So let's go through the stats here for tonight's game.
Reagan Soorns, who was three off her career high with
(02:21:40):
thirty three points here tonight, twelve of nineteen, shooting one
of two from beyond the arc, eight of thirteen at
the line. She had seven rebounds to add to it.
Sam Shaffer two points, had a big steal. Five steals
in this game for Sam Schaffer, including the biggest one
at the end of this game as well that's stealed
the win for the Blue Devils and much with twelve
and one rebound. She was five of ten shooting tonight.
(02:22:02):
Lexi Wagner had seven points a couple of big threes
for her this evening as well. Amanda Geese in twenty
two points for her tonight. She shoots eight of sixteen
from the field and two of three from beyond the arc.
I'm told I just got the two minute signal from
Casey Parrot, and I imagine that the Man, the Geese
and Reagan Sorenson are going to go down to the
(02:22:23):
press conference, so we might get a real treat and
get Anna Much up here to the booth up top
as well. A little harder when we're up top instead
of table side to get to interviews and whatnot. Anam
Much had a bunch of people to go and hug
and celebrate with before we get her up to the box.
So that is how it worked out. Stout shoots in
the end thirty of sixty from the field, seven to
(02:22:45):
fifteen from beyond the arc, fourteen to twenty two at
the line. Strand only got to the line seven times
here tonight, but they made all seven of them, as
they shot fifty seven percent from the field and sixty
six percent from beyond the arc. Ten of fifteen shooting
from beyond the arc force Scranton here tonight, twenty five
for Cranson, twenty four for Lamana, and thirteen for Romanowski
(02:23:09):
and Rosella. Willie added five as well, So Scranton now rebound.
It's out twenty nine to twenty six in this game,
but again outscored Scranton eighteen to nine points off a turnovers,
and Scranton turned it over eighteen times.
Speaker 1 (02:23:22):
Stout turned it over just eight.
Speaker 2 (02:23:24):
And that's to me the biggest, biggest disparity and the
biggest issue for this here tonight, as well as it
has been pretty amazing as well. I'm getting chants how
about that? That's just because I see Adam Mutch up here.
Yeah all right, Oh, they wanted me to stay on.
Speaker 1 (02:23:44):
Okay, I guess my gosh, we love it.
Speaker 2 (02:23:50):
Oh man, all right, well anna, oh you're gonna sit
down fireside, chant I see what's up? Okay, happy tears, fun,
fun things happening down there. Okay, man, what a heck
of a drag out that was? That was a physical
you know, you play a physical brand of basketball, Scranton
match though they played really physical down there. I know
(02:24:12):
it's hard you've been celebrating down there, but think back
a little bit here about this game.
Speaker 1 (02:24:16):
What do you think was the key?
Speaker 2 (02:24:17):
Because man, your defense was smothering to that against a
team that is used to scoring almost eighty points a game.
Speaker 18 (02:24:23):
Yeah, yeah, I mean, you know, I think our focus
today was control what we can control, keep our head
and do stop basketball. You know, they came out swinging
in the first half that twenty one what four from three? Yeah,
you know, and that it takes a lot of mental
toughness to take a hit like that. And when we
come back and we hit back and we go on
our little run, you know, I think that is a
perfect example of what this team is about, you know,
(02:24:46):
taking hits and hitting right back. We have more heart
to anybody, and that's why I believe we can win
the national championship.
Speaker 2 (02:24:51):
Well, I mean, you're two steps away, so you're pretty
darn close at this point.
Speaker 1 (02:24:54):
That is for sure a heck of a play.
Speaker 6 (02:24:56):
You know.
Speaker 2 (02:24:56):
I thought there were moments, especially for other players who
st tonight. Rosella Willy stepped out out. I mean, obviously
you know the usual suspects, right, but she did. Sam
Shaeffer gets you that big steal at the end of
the game. There were some nerving moments, but man, there
was some really good poise, especially defensively. Talk a little
bit about that lake because man, Sam and the rest
of you guys just were I mean, you were turning
(02:25:18):
them over at a really good clip too.
Speaker 20 (02:25:19):
Yep.
Speaker 18 (02:25:19):
Yep, man, that's such a great metaphor for this team.
I mean, you know, you know the names of reconsaur
and Sinamana, Geese and Ana much everybody else's role is
just as important. Although we're up here talking to media,
they don't get appreciated enough. And I think that is
a perfect example that Sam Schaefer getting to steal. Sam
Schaefer is our best defensive player on our team. She
guards the hardest player on the other team every single night.
(02:25:42):
She's pushing tempo as a point guard, like her job
is unbearable. She is working, working, working for forty whole minutes,
and a lot of times that goes unrecognized. So I
want to give a huge Sam Schaeffer. Rosella Willie. That's
our spark off the bench. Every single game. She shows
up determined, ready to do whatever the team needs her
to do. And I think tonight, what a great example,
what a great night for Rosella Willie.
Speaker 2 (02:26:00):
Before you guys left the hotel, you watched a video
and the eight seniors kind of had a quick talk
with everybody on the team. You guys talked about the
word right that that means a lot to you down
there and talk a little bit about that because that
was a special moment.
Speaker 1 (02:26:14):
And and man, this team is just they're tight. Is
not even the right word, is it?
Speaker 2 (02:26:19):
Yeah?
Speaker 18 (02:26:19):
I mean a lot of the words that we all
use was love, celebration, relationships, enjoyment with each other. I
think that's what has propelled us to this moment. You
don't get here without loving the people who you're surrounded with, right,
I work hard. I work as hard as I can
for my teammates. Not for me, it's for everybody else.
Speaker 2 (02:26:36):
So God, I love this team.
Speaker 1 (02:26:39):
It's a fun team, isn't it.
Speaker 18 (02:26:40):
Oh Lord?
Speaker 5 (02:26:40):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (02:26:41):
First first time in Stout women's basketball history. And you
could probably argue in men's basketball history it was a
long time ago before the men's team, you know, and
the Naia back in the day getting to the final four.
But the first time to the final four and first
Simon and hopefully not the last for that as well,
but pretty amazing for you guys. And now look at
I mean you look at it. If you Whitman, who's
(02:27:01):
the fifth overall team in the tournament, you beat Scranton,
who's the third overall team in the tournament, and now
you get to play the number one overall team in
the tournament in NYU. And you guys probably don't even
care at all about those numbers, do you not? Y'all?
Speaker 18 (02:27:11):
Betta stop sleeping on you to be stout now, come on,
got the hardest draw on the tournament.
Speaker 1 (02:27:15):
We don't care.
Speaker 18 (02:27:16):
We're determined.
Speaker 2 (02:27:17):
NCAA trophy looks pretty darn good, doesn't it. I like that?
Speaker 22 (02:27:20):
Is that?
Speaker 2 (02:27:21):
Bet?
Speaker 1 (02:27:21):
You look at that?
Speaker 2 (02:27:22):
And also you just said national championship. It's cool trophy, right,
but it's not the coolest, is right? Right.
Speaker 18 (02:27:26):
We're not done here yet. We got another another big
week ahead of us, and I'm excited for Virginia.
Speaker 2 (02:27:30):
So let's get there.
Speaker 1 (02:27:31):
I'll let you say what you like to say, is
you you head out Stout Nation.
Speaker 2 (02:27:36):
Don't let them blue devils get hot? Baby?
Speaker 1 (02:27:39):
All right?
Speaker 2 (02:27:39):
That's Adam much appreciate taking the time ada with us
here as well. So Stout will move on to the
final four. They will head to Sale in Virginia Thursday night,
Thursday evening. I'm not sure the times on that. They
have not posted those as of yet, but Stout will
take on NYU. Smith will take on either Oshkosh or
Baldwin Wallace Oshkosh is out by five with nine seconds
(02:28:02):
left to go in the fourth quarter of their contest,
so there is still some time left in that one.
But it very well looks like in a year where
the Wyak was talked a lot about being one of
the most one of the best, toughest leagues in the nation,
that they might get two teams in the final four.
And if that is the case, well, I think you
can put any doubts about that to rest. We've seen
(02:28:22):
a lot of talk in the last two weeks about
who's good and who's not and what conference is good
and what's not, and a few folks not thinking the
Wyak was great. Well, you can put that to bed.
You can put that to rest, because they are indeed
that great Oshkosh gonna move on. It looks like they're
up by five with two seconds left and we're gonna
get two teams in the.
Speaker 1 (02:28:41):
Wayak in the final four. How about that here in
twenty twenty five.
Speaker 2 (02:28:46):
Okay, that will do it for us here tonight, that
unbelievable night, as the Blue Devils make it to the
final four.
Speaker 1 (02:28:51):
They will play on Thursday.
Speaker 2 (02:28:52):
We will get you the times and the travel and
all the things that will happen there, and hopefully my
wife and son are hanging with me for a little longer.
I certainly appreciate them hanging that out at home alone
here for the last few days and next week as
well if we head out to Salem, which I believe
we will and do all that. So it's been an
amazing weekend and it will be an amazing one next weekend,
(02:29:14):
because I can tell you the Final four is a
different level and it's a different level of competition obviously,
but it is a different level of excitement, fun, pomp
and circumstance, I think, so the term that comes to
mind around the Final four as well as Brent Reagan's
uncle is pointing at me and he's pretty excited as well.
He's ready for me to send him audio so he
can make some highlight clips highlight videos tonight as well.
Speaker 1 (02:29:37):
All Right, a special thing there we go.
Speaker 2 (02:29:40):
A special thanks as always to those who joined us
during the program, to Aaron Sullivan at halftime, to Anna
much here in our postgame show, and of course to
coach Iverson in the pregame show for joining us as well,
