(00:00):
Person for the right moment is goingto be big for us. Yeah,
it certainly will be. And aswe look at moving forward here into tonight's
game. We'll talk about this matchuphere in a second. But now that
the nerves have gone and you know, everybody's experienced a game, do you
expect them to be a little bitmore Okay, let's just go out there
and play basketball here tonight. Ithink so. I think that's one of
the advantages actually of just having thatno time in between. We talked about
(00:21):
with our team today where like hehas got a sixty minute warm up,
we're back more to the original andLee yesterday we only had a thirty minute
warm up and the girls were like, I kind of liked that thirty minute
warm up, And it's nice tojust early when you have so many emotions
and everything is so high from justthe big how big the moment is to
just get right to basketball there forthat first night, and now to be
able to just have a day,not two days, three days to sit
(00:43):
and overthink a bunch of things. It's just you know, at the end
of the day, it's basketball. And our girls have done a really good
job of just really locking in onscout and being able to take what we're
giving them. It's been nice toohaving seen these guys not too long ago
or you know, this season feelingin speaking of not too long ago,
but it was just refresh on somethings and then kind of adding the new
(01:03):
things that they've done as the season'sgone on. Let's talk about Puget Sound
then a little bit like you saidyou saw them early in the season.
They get I mean, they knockoff a team that had what twenty five
hundred fans here last night in thegym. It was packed, it was
loud, you guys were watching it. But just to see Puget Sound be
able to handle that kind of environment, I got to imagine that Definitely,
you knew and they knew they werea good team, but it definitely kind
(01:23):
of raises some eyebrows as you watchthem. Oh for sure, I thought
they played a phenomenal game last nightand that atmosphere was Yeah, it was
one for the record books. Imean, I think that was really impressive.
Impressive by Carol just to have thattype of environment and crowd and Puget
they showed up and they looked likethey'd been here before. They had a
level head on their shoulders. Theydidn't get rattled, you know, even
when they were making those runs andthat gym was loud as can be and
(01:46):
there was pressure for ninety four feetof the floor, Pugett was under control
and responded when they made mistakes andthings like that. And that's what great
teams do. I thought they playedawesome. The thing that Puget does,
I think just as good as wedo, is they play their butt off.
I mean they play hard, andthey do it for forty minutes.
They're scrappy, they're undersized in someareas and oversized in some other positions,
(02:06):
but they do play really, reallyhard. I think it's going to be
a fun match for fans to seetonight. You know, in this win
streak that you've been on, youknow, I wouldn't say that you've played
maybe your best game to beat everyteam that you've had out there. There's
definitely been some games that you've hadto grind out. But is there a
little bit of confidence in that forthe players zone that last night maybe wasn't
their best effort and they still cameaway with a ten point win. In
the NCAA Tournament of All things.Yeah, for sure, I think that's
(02:28):
I think that's very well said.I think there was a lot of areas
of our normal basketball game that weren'twith us last night. I mean I
just later last night when I gothome and really looked at the box sheet.
I'm looking and I'm like, wehad one kid with rebound more than
one rebound on our sadsheet. Imean, that is a wild thing.
And to walk away with a winwhen you only got one kid who I
(02:49):
think she only had, Regan hadeleven, and then other than that we
had I think someone had four andthat was it. Everyone else had won.
And it's like that is wild withjust how we played the game and
how we offense, how we getthe pace of the game, going to
have that stat be real was kindof mind blowing. And so for us
to be able to hopefully move onfrom that game and feel confidence in just
(03:10):
terms of getting the job done.We have a saying on our team,
whatever it takes, and whatever ittakes means a lot of different things.
It means sometimes your stud does it, sometimes your bench kid does it,
sometimes your two man does it.It's like it's a it really is a
team effort. To win games atthis level. What will it take tonight?
What's going to be that key tothe game that you're going to emphasize
to your team before they go outand take the court. I think kind
(03:31):
of like you said, I thinkjust using the confidence that we had going
in from that game and understanding thatthis is going to be a high level
of intensity game and a high emotiongame. There's nobody that's stepping on the
floor from any games here on outthat doesn't want it just as bad as
you do. So we talked alot about being able to lock into scout
and having a head on your shoulders, being able to play hard, smart
(03:51):
and together for forty minutes of basketball. All right, we look forward to
a coach good luck tonight and hopefullywe get to a chat with you next
weekend as well. Sounds good,Thanks Pete. It's Haid cochan Iverson forw
stout. We'll have more pregame coveragewhen we come back. Do you love
being outdoors? Are retired, astudent or need a change the spring?

They had not made the tournament sincetwenty seventeen. But where Bernial Power
in the Northwest Conference at the conferenceusual only gets one team maybe two out
of it. This season Puget Soundwas a bit stealer. They were able
(07:01):
to win the tournament after finishing fourthin the conference. Let's listen in to
the national anthem here from Van MailfieldHouse. Right if you are able and
remove your hat and out before theUnited States national anthem, please welcome Carroll

(09:13):
senior from New Progue, Minnesota.Reagan Sorenson will start as well, a
guard at five foot seven in juniorfrom Unity Handle much starts alongside her five
eight senior from Apple Valley, Minnesota. Eclips the thousand point mark and as
the now the twelfth player to dothat in her the history apartment's a thirteenth
player rather to do that through thehistory of Stout women's basketball, and she's
(09:33):
now thirteenth on the list, andshe can pass it at least one player
here tonight on that list as wellthroughout the course of the evening. Lexi
Wagner as a final starter. She'sfrom Galesville, g E T grad.
Was a Youngstown State Division one graduateor apart me, a Youngsound State recruit,
did not play a ton there, then went to Mercyhurst Division two.
(09:54):
Now she plays for Stout. She'llbe back next year as well as a
grad student with one more year yearof eligibility. So as you're starting lineup
four Stout, the bugit Selongers willrun this starting lineup out of the Katie
minihan senior from Woodenviille, Washington, five nine guard. Jordan Riverman, the
senior from Portland, Oregon, averagesjust under ten points a game, is
(10:15):
a five foot eight She'll start alongsidePage Gearhart, a senior from Danville,
California. She is a leading scoreron the team with thirteen point one points
a game. Sophi Nilson is asix foot senior from Alameda, California.
She averages ten points a game aswell. Then Kennedy Brown is the final
starter, a senior out of Tickerd, Oregon five foot three guard for this
Puget Sound Longers team. She averagesjust over twelve points per game. Your
(10:37):
officials for tonight's game are Aaron Frias, Kenneth Williams, and Jody Duffy This
Evening a Puget Sound is a privateliberal arts university of Tacoma, Washington,
and they're affiliated with the United MethodistChurch. It's about an undergraduate enrollment of
about seventeen hundred and a beautiful campusthere in Tacombo, Washington. One of
(11:00):
the best little arts universities in thein the country. It does cost about
sixty grand a year to go there. But nonetheless that is you know a
little bit of a background there onPuget Sound and what you're looking for here.
All right, both teams are readyto take the floor as we look
at him here across from the tableon the benches, the loggers a move
from right to left here per halfnumber one. They're in the home white
uniforms with the maroon numbers and theblue devils in the road blue uniforms,
(11:26):
the blue devils across the chest,Stout on the trim and the white trim
on the sides, with white numbersand gray and white trim on the sides
of the shorts or the blue devils. Sorenson, we'll take the tip for
Stout. Jordan Riverman takes the tipfor Puget Sound. Around to thirty two,
one of the final games of theday is about to get underway.
We're happy to have you along withus here on News Talk WMQ. All
right, a little bit of movement. We're good. Now, let's get
(11:48):
that bum on the air and offwe go. Just a little bit extra
time to get that adrenaline pumping isReagan. Sorenson will womless here for Stout
and we are under way. Stoutmoves left to right, a little bit
of pressure from the lone us tostart. Bad pass, really bad pass
to Wagner. It's intercepted and takenby Gearheart. Gearhart think it's cut off
by Shafer. They go on thecorner for a quick three. That's no
good offensive board, however, theygo with the reverse leyoff Reagan. Sorenson
(12:11):
is there to defend it from Reederman. She misses and Sorenson has it back
and up come the Blue Doubles. All right, they set the offense up.
It was a bad pass from Wagnerthat set off the turnover. Sorenson
fakes the three. Oh, andit's swat it away inside by Sophie Nilsson.
What a block inside by Nielsen?Who's the Blue Doubles are turned away
on that possession. Nine twenty fourto play here in the first quarter,
(12:31):
just forty seconds in here to tonight'sround of thirty two matchup pass to the
elbow to Nielsen. Nielsen is gonnatake along two no good and Sam Shafer
will straight down the board here forStout. Shaper across the timeline goes to
Wagner. Another dangerous pass now muchin the left corner. Much will draw
out to the high wing and switchit up to Sorenson at the top of
(12:52):
the key. She looks her backdoor cut on the left faceline from Geese
and it's not there. They switchit in the corner to Wagner and now
took across left wing here toward Reagan, Soawrenson around the Wagner. She'll step
into a long three and that isin and out rebound Gearhart for the Laggers.
Still no score. We're a minutefifteen in here in the around A
thirty two matchup. Second round matchuphere between Puget Sound and Stout. Nilsen
(13:16):
weaving up top. They give itoff to Brown. She ball fakes from
three, then she'll drive in.That's short and Wagner with the boy they
wanted a pile, didn't get it. They've got numbers. The Stout benches
imploring Wagner to push the pace.Backdoor passed too much is deflected away and
it'll be Stout basketball on the rightbaseline and a whistle here. I'm not
sure about what I think the arrowmight be wrong here. It should be
(13:39):
pointing to No, that's right, everything's all right. No. Eight twenty
five to go here in the firstcorner. We've got no score. You're
in the second round of the NCAAtournament. Shaefer are gonna have to go
all the way up to Wagner uphigh, wide and right. She'll go
back to Shaper in the right corneron the baseline imbound. How Shafer looking
inside to Sorenson can't find the passMuch looks in. She'll dribble, drive
(14:01):
in, goes up, hangs, and it rolls out off the glass.
No good reaverman with the rebound upto Minihan. Minihan off on the right
wing for Brown. Brown finds thetrailer in Gearhart. She's cut off nicely
by Much on the drive hop onthe wing, Nielsen was open. She's
a twenty two percent three point shooter, though, and she'll pass it up.
Eight minutes the player in the firstquarter is still no score. Stout.
(14:22):
Students who have made the trip aremaking some noise at the end to
our left. Here on the defensiveside of the ball, per Stout,
Brown will take a three from thewing that's too strong. Long rebounds.
She'll go get her own. Thenshe'll go down to the baseline and she'll
drive it all the way around andget out to the right wing to Gearhart.
Earhart picked up thirteen to shoot onthe new twenty. She'll bounce off
(14:43):
for Brown in the right corner. They move up between the circles to Nielsen.
Nielsen's spinning on Geeson. She'll passit to Minihan in the lane out
in the corner with two to shootfor three. That one is short bun
rebound and it's saved into Lexi Wagner. Then Wagner is pushed here in the
corner. She'll get this one offthe shape, a lot of contact,
no call. They're gonna let himplay. He's a knife, find them
(15:03):
much. She'll go up. She'sfouled. No bucket, but she'll go
to the line to shoot a coupleof three throws. As we are almost
three minutes in and still no onehas a bucket yet here. We'll get
our live sets working here, hopefullysoon. They having some issues with them
here tonight it looks like her,but now it is Anna Much at the
(15:28):
line. Number of turnovers to startthis game. As much as first free
throw will go. Anna much agood pre throw shooter. It comes into
the tournament shooting eighty point five percentBlue Devil Seam was third in the Yact
seventy three percent shooting from the Charitystraight and the second on the way for
(15:48):
Anna Much is good as well tonothing Stout with the early lead seven thirteen
to go here in quarter one,You just sound basketball. Both teams struggling
to kind of get the offense rollinghere. So far, the defenses for
both these teams are pretty good.He just sound only allows fifty eight points
a games out fifty nine points agame. Lauren Arns into the game here
(16:10):
for Stout, picks up Gearhart atthe elbow and now Brown into the short
corner, gets double team by Shaferand Much. They go inside to Minihan
deep patching the lanes. She'll goback out to Nielsen three to shoot for
three. That will fall off andReagan Sorenson has the rebound here per Stout
trying to fight through it and shealmost got tripped up. Boy. The
officials are keeping the whistle in thepocket right now. Eson in the corner,
(16:30):
good pass up top to Arns, back to Geson in the corner.
Deeson gonna skip it across the rightwing to Shapeer. They like to pass
over the defense to stout now muchon the left wing, puts it on
the deck, dribbles in out toSorenson. She's open for three and the
right wing. She'll take it.And she was fouled by Reaverman on the
three, and she'll lead to theline for three free throws. Reverman didn't
(16:52):
let her land. She landed righton her foot as Leaderman kind of moved
under her. Wagner and Rosella Willygonna check back in Rosella Wally Interesting hasn't
had a ton of playing time recentlypushed out. However, her her career
high this is her freshman season, was set against the Dominican egg For pardon
me, it was against this PugetSound team, as she scored thirteen points
(17:18):
in that game. The second game, I'm the season back at Oak player
against this Lagger squad Reagan Sorenson missedthe first, she missed a second.
Holy cow. All right, let'ssee if Sorenson can lock it in here
at the line, at least getone of these three two nothing stout six
twenty three to go here in thequarter. She makes one, so one
out of three. Sorenson continuing tostruggle a bit at the free throw line.
(17:41):
That's been part of the Probably theonly issue for Sorenson has been her
free throw shooting. It's been good, but not been as good as it
probably should be for how often shegets to the line. Good flasher to
the bucket. They try laid offher Minihan though, does that pass there
from Sarah Skaggs who checked in itwas deflected. Now another back door cut.
We'll throw it in the corner toMinahan eight to shoot day in a
(18:03):
long time brown ball bake from threefrom the wing. She'll drive in awkwardly,
it's in and out, but shegets a little bit of contact Ron
there on Rosello Willie, and she'llhead into the line for two free throws.
Get our first look at Sydney Brennanhere her twenty three nothing lead percout
(18:25):
with five point fifty six to gohere in quarter number one, we're gonna
adda much with two free throws. You got sorens in with the free throw.
We don't have a field goal madein this game or over four minutes
in first free throw and first pointof the game will go to Kennedy Brown
for the Loggers. I remember watchingher against UW player, in particular the
(18:45):
opening game of the season at thattip off tournament, and she was impressive
for just being five foot three. She gets to the bucket really well and
efficiently. She's an eighty four percentfree throw shooter, and she'll get a
quick wrestler she makes that free throwin page Oh the freshman from Hotolulu,
Hawaii. We'll check in here forPuget Sound five fifty six to go here
(19:06):
in quarter one, Stout three,Huget Sound two. Either team really figuring
out their offense yet little zone defensehere from the Laggers. Lord Arnes up
top to Wagner. Wagner at thetop of the key. Thought about that
little pull up three that she likesto take, gets it to Willie and
her pass is deflected out of boundson the far sideline in front of the
Logger bench. It'll be seventeen toshoot per Stout. With five forty two
(19:26):
to go, you're in the firstquarter. A pretty full jim at the
bleachers that are across from us.Behind us, it's pretty empty, but
this is a pro stout prow Thereare not a lot of folks who've made
the trip all the way from Tacoma, Washington here to Carol. Here's Brennan
in the corner. Didn't catch thatpass very well? Some pressure being put
(19:47):
on her. Did she step outof bountain zone? She traveled. Casey
Kushiyama helping with that. Paul inthe corner, Tody Duffy probably saying,
I don't need your help. Isaw it myself. Anna Munch, Sam
Shaefer and a man de Geese.I don't check back in the game,
Willy Sorenson and Arns checking out forthe Blue doubles. Blue levels like to
get players in and out, especiallyif players get early foulsand games, and
(20:08):
so Hanna Iverson typically likes to doso. The Loggers will inbound here down
by one, three to two, with five point twenty three to go here
in the first quarter. Remember too, that there are not a lot of
times throughout the season that teams playback to back days. Even in the
Wyak Tournament, you get a dayin between your actions, so it does
(20:30):
not shock you that there's folks area little bit tired here this evening,
and that might result in some lowerscores. Here's a pass in the corner
to gearheart ball fake from three,She'll drive to the short corner skips of
across. That's a chocolt violation.Even though Nilson made the three, she
tried a quick release, but ship'sclearly after the whistle, and we will
get our first media time out ofthe game. Three to two stat with
(20:53):
the lead here on the Loggers fourfifty seven ago first quarter. We're back
after this here on your own forBlue Devil basketball. You are listening to

(21:42):
uw stout Women's basketball and the NCAATournament here on News Talk WMEQ. Welcome
back in to Carol University. TheBlue Devils lead three to two here five
minutes in to this second round matchupbetween Stout and Fuget Sound and the Women's
Basketball Division NCAA Tournament. But well, again, the Blue Devils, if
(22:03):
they are able to pull up thewin get to the Sweek sixteen, they
will take on the winner of OhioWesleyan versus Transylvania in this Sweet sixteen.
In Transylvania an undefeated team, they'rethe second ranked team in the country and
they're currently leading sixty eight to fiftyfive with just seventeen seconds left to go.
So let's say Transylvania move on.Now. Interestingly, the Transylvania wins,
but if Stout wins, Stout pinnopbust to Transylvania. So's the chance
(22:26):
that in the pod Whitewater might endup becoming the host in the basically second
weekend of the NCAA Tournament. I'lltalk more about that throughout the broadcast.
And again, Blue Devils need towin a course to get there, so
they don't have to worry about muchof that. As they go in the
poster to Geeson out to Brennan, she wants a three. It's up and
it is good, Sidney Brennan headsaid, we finally have a field goal
(22:47):
tonight six to two. Stout leadshere over the Loggers. I get back
quickly to Stout in defense. IsOh has it here? For Huget Sound,
Sydney Brennan hit eight threes in agame earlier this year against Luther College,
had tied a record for the mostthrees hitting one game by one.
Stout women's basketball player left short cornerskags Garta bay Shafer still looking. She
(23:10):
finally puts it down for a dribble. Here heart going to try to drive
on Geeson. Tough layup. NoGeson had it. It was hit out
of there by Hill, who's checkedin. We're gonna jump ball. Loggers
will have it mentioned on them Hillchecking in. She's a six foot two
freshman from New Park, California. She set a record for the most blocks
in a game for Puget Sound earlierthis year with eight, and she is
(23:30):
tall, she is lanky. Wetalked to coach Iverson, she said she's
the nickname for her his legs. She just is long and lanky and has
a huge wingspan inside and just asa tough matchup for Stout, that is
for sure. But she comes offthe bench is and a much DEFLEXI pass
here they go down and get it, though Loggers maintained possession. Here's Addison
(23:51):
Reardon, who's checked into the gamefor the Loggers out of Lake oswego Oregon
Brown back in the game on theleft wing, dribbles in, hands off
to Minihan on the right elbow area. She'll take a top shot over Shaper
and hit. That was a very, very tough shot and I think the
Blue Devils will take that every time. As Brennan catches in transition, she
wants a three. Sydney Brennan bthree. It's nine to more Stout with
(24:15):
three thirty eight to go in thefirst quarter. Transition three for Sydney Brennan.
If those are going, that's usuallymeans good things for the Blue Devils.
In the Quarner Minihan, she's guardedby much much, putting the business
on her there. They go outto Brown. Brown steps into a three
that is short and Gathon tips itout, but it's grabbed by the Loggers
and Minihan was there to run itin for a layup. Nine to six.
(24:37):
Stout leads three fifteen to go.First quarter. There's Wagner on the
right wing skips it across left wingnow to Geese or to a shaper rather
now much out to Brennan. Anotherthree, No way, that one's off
the pro I an no good twoin a row. Then she misses one.
That's been the pattern in a lotof times this season. As Minihan
now has it here for the loggerscross trying to cross over on Wagner to
lay it back up top for atop of the key three that's off the
(25:00):
side. No, Minihan had itpoked away. He'll goes down to the
deck to get it. Should havebeen a travel. They didn't call it.
And now in the corner it's Reabermanwith it. She throws it all
the way in the back court hereand they got a foul I think called
on somebody. They got Brennan fora foul on the pass perfect it looked
like there was a clear travel. He'll grab the ball and then fell to
the deck and they missed that call. And now they call a really weird
(25:26):
reaching foul on Sidney Brennan on apass that looked like it was ticketed for
the backcourt and a backcourt violation.Don't understand that one too much. Two
forty five to go here in thefirst quarter, stop by three, nine
to six zero over Puget Sound. They'll dribble in here on Nilssen on Lauren
Arne, she loses a basketball anda foul called on Stout and she was
(25:48):
out of control and falling to thedeck and I just don't don't get it.
So Shaeffer picks up her first, and now let's see Wagner will check
back in for the Blue Devils, and so all of a sudden are starting
to tighten it up a little bithere. Jody Duffy on the call is
interesting topic. Proeche iverson before thegame, she said, Jody Duffy used
(26:08):
to officiate her games when she wasat UW. Green Bay. As there's
a quick catch and release from Nilsenfor a little easy floater out of the
inbounds and it's nine to eight nowStout. So so that was up nine
to four, but a little bitof a run here for the Loggers to
go out to Lauren Arnes on theleft wing. Thought about a step into
it. Three Wagner now to theelbow to Willie. Willy hasn't poked away
from behind. They'll earn a jumpball here. I don't know why.
(26:30):
We're now to go and give alittle extra after that whistle, the Blue
Devils will hold it here on thealternate possession arrow two twenty to go.
Here in the first quarter, Stoutup by one, Arns looks inbound.
Arn's looking nobody getting open. They'llhave to go to Wagner out near the
logo. Wagner too much at thefree throw line. Tough turn around,
(26:52):
she'll bank it in and it's opentonight. Plenty of banks here in the
Walkershaw area. Eleven to eight.Stout with the lead two seven ago.
First quarter Loggers with it brown onthe wing so fast with that five to
three frame, this can dribble inand amongst the trees weave throughout them.
So skip it over now left sidehere to reard and there's a whistle away
from the ball. Another foul onStout al cald On Willie. That's her
(27:18):
second. So Willy's gonna have toget out of there, and they're gonna
get a man to Geeson back intothe game here Forls honestly didn't even see
what that was. It was offball boot levels. Student section is not
happy at the end of our leftnumber of football players as part of that
student section. Sorenson trying to gofor the deflection on that inbound they'll hand
(27:38):
off to Brown here. Brown weavesit off left wing here for Wearden.
Weirden thought about the three now givesit up to Minihan up at the top
of the key. Minihan moves leftwhere it turns it back to weird and
they move it around right side inNielson for past to Brown, and she
traveled with a whip and a turnoverto Stout with one forty to go here
in the first quarter, it's elevento eight Blue Devils. We'll see he'll
(28:00):
check out for the Loggers here andthen back into the game is Gearhart for
huge sound and Sidney Brennan will getback into the game as well as Lauren
Arnes will get a quick rest.Lauren Arn's a great story third Stout.
She's the only player who will notbe back next year graduating. Not only
that, but injured her knee halfwaythrough the season, wasn't sure if she
(28:22):
was going to be able to return, came back and has played so well
since. Coming back just gives youthat senior leadership you need a Sorenson steps
into a three from the left wing. No good, but she'll track down
her own rebound, then loses outof bounds in the corner. Will be
Laggers basketball. Not a good threethere from Sorenson. Never looked like she
was really in rhythm or on inbalance before she shot that one, and
a dead ball rebound goes to theLoggers one twenty six to go here in
(28:45):
the first quarter Stout eleven, HugetSound eight Huge It Sound and will Lammett
the two teams out of the NorthwestConference that made it to the tournament.
As Lexey Wagner has called for reachand found, this game is being called
much tighter when the game last nightwas being called. That's her first.
That is also the fifth on Stout, so that will send Nielsen to the
(29:07):
line. If you don't remember thatchange a number of years ago in women's
basketball, they don't change to herfour ten minute quarters instead of two twenty
minute halves. And in the quartersnow, if you hit five files,
you hit the double bonus. There'sno single bonus anymore in women's basketball.
Sell Student's trying to make some noisehere, and that free throw will go
here from Sophie Nilssen. Now again. Puget Sound used a twenty two to
(29:30):
nine run in the second quarter lastnight on their way to about a ten
point nine point win rather over CarrollUniversity, the host school. So it's
the second quarter that did it forthem last night. As that second free
throw misses, so Blue levils,I'm sure we'll be aware of that here
tonight. Here's geeseon in transition toBrennan in the left corner, back out
to Sorenson. They go to Geeseat the free throw line. She dribbles
(29:51):
into the lane, picks it backout Brennan. She'll take a left wing
three that might have been deflected andGearhar has it underneath. That was an
airball, but I think she gota piece of that one, did the
defender out there on Brennan. Gearheartbounces. They go Brown on the left
wing, Brown guarded by Wagner uptop to Gearhart about a Now there's enough
of a differential between game and shockblock. They have seventeen to shoot.
Forty five seconds left during the quarterof Minihan spins got double teethed in the
(30:12):
lane. There's Gearhart driving in.She'll take a free throw line jumper.
Now it tips out of there. The footback is good and they get the
tip to fall right into a whitejersey's hands and it's eleven. All Wagner
up to Geeson. Geeson bounces offfor Sorenson inside. No call on that
shot. He think it's the offensiveboard. Swat it out of a foul.
Fattle call on Neilson. Nilsen gotdefinitely a lot of arm up top,
(30:37):
he underneath, and so Geson willgo to the line to shoot some
three throats. It was a goodswat up top and there was clear contact
there. Huget sound as just likeStout does a row of port side seats,
basically their reserved for athletic department staffand parents and those kind of folks.
(30:59):
You thought that the Fugeess fans thatwe're on the court, we're about
ready to come out on the courtshooting because they reacted to that foul called
Deeson's first free throw. Will goStout back up front, twelve to eleven,
with twenty four seconds remaining here inthe quarter. And we do have
live stats back up, so that'sat least good. Blue Devils had been
scoreless for about two minutes before makingthat free throw. Deeson's second is well
(31:21):
off the mark and Sorenson will trackit down. Then she gets qushed in
the corner and there's no call.Unbelievable, no call in the corner.
Here comes Brown into the front court. Brown up to Nielsen. Nielsen wants
to step into a three for thelead at the end of the quarter.
No good rebound. Sorenson still sometime here, seven seconds left to go.
Minihan cuts her off with four. With three, she'll get it across
(31:42):
the timeline. She's found. They'regonna call that a shot. Let's see,
is they gonna be a foulers shot. It's gotta be a shot.
Three shots coming up for Soorrens abeautiful Sorens into the line. The loggers
can't believe it. I don't knowwhy they're giving her that much pressure on
a half court shot. You gottalay off back up. That's what happens
(32:04):
if you put too much pressure ona ball. Carry over the timeline like
that. Sorenson's first good thirteen toeleven stout leads. There is still one
point three remaining here in the firstquarter. Second from Sorenson rattles in make
her two of four at the line. Now, pardon me, three of
(32:25):
five at the line. Sorenson, though, with that free throw, makes
it as well. So she hitsall three and that's a costly foul up
from the Loggers as they give herthree points basically at the end of the
first So Stout takes a fifteen toeleven lead into the second quarter. We'll
be back within the second quarter.Right after this here on your home for

no welcome back in here to Wakashaw, Wisconsin and Carroll University of fifteen to
eleven league for Stout over page andsound. As we go in to the
start of the second quarter, let'sgive you some stores more on the NCAA
Tournament. Transylvania will be the teamthat fakes us the winner of this matchup
(33:55):
in the Sweet sixteen. They area winner seventy to fifty five over Ohio
Wesleyan this evening, so Transylvania willmove on Whitewater leading forty six to twenty
five over Millikens. So it lookslike Whitewater's in pretty good shape to win
their shot there, and the teamthat Whitewater will play, if they're able
(34:15):
to win, will be the winnerof Hope versus Depau. Hope is winning
sixty two to forty seven with fivepoint fifty five to go in the fourth
quarter of that game. One othergame of note uw Ashkosh well in hand.
They lead seventy to forty six overTrine with one fifty three to go,
So if Stout were able to wintonight, it looks like at least
two teams of mawayak A getting inthe sweet sixteen maybe a third, of
(34:38):
course with Stout as well. Sothe Blue Devils lead fifteen to eleven.
Here at the end of one Loggersbasketball to start the second quarter. This
is Kennedy Brown in the post. We'll get it in the corner to Brown,
quick catching last three in and outrebound Reagan Sorenson. It's the Puget
Sound team that makes seven and ahalf threes per game on average. As
Much gets into Shaper trailing to playback around to our Arns. Arns bounces
(35:01):
to Geeson in the left corner.Geseon in toward the elbow, back to
Arns now Much in the left corner. Blue Devil's looking for somebody to get
in open inside Much had it pokedaway up top to shape or twelve to
shoot. They go to Geese onthe right wing. Geeson drives in,
Deeson bounces off for much laugh goodmy splash from much. They helped out
on Geeson's drive, and Much wasopen on the flash of the bucket.
(35:22):
Seventeen to eleven. Stout leads herein the second quarter nine o seven to
go. You're in the first half, missus Stags on the high right's
it across the Gearhart now in thecorner to Minahan, back to the right
to Brown, Brown to the rightelbow, three throw line, extended hands
off the Minahan. They weave inMinihan looking nobody getting open. Eight to
shoot. Blue Devil's defense has beenridiculously good this evening. Milson with three
(35:46):
to shoot, they got to geta shot off. Here, a wild
put up there that is waved up. It's a shot block mileage the second
time tonight. Already the defense fromStouts suffocated. Here on the second quarter
page Oh checking back in for theLoggers, we'll also see Nielsen checking back
(36:08):
in, so Brown and Skag's gettingarrested. Sam Shaffer trying to get it
into Sorenson here, Oh is allup in her business here, two hands
in her back and still no call. Sorenson up the far sideline. You're
gonna take it all the way intoGeeson in the corner. Geeson then had
it poked away from behind, andit's stilling away by Reaverman. Reaverman up
(36:30):
to Minihan here for the Loggers.Seventeen eleven. Stout leads eight twenty five
to go. Second quarter long twoat the top of the key that is
well off the mark and Sorenson withthe rebound as Minihan misses. Sorenson then
again gets bumped in the back court. They are letting them play as Geeson
loses the basketball out of bounds ona tough path Formna Mutch and the Loggers
will get ataman Hill and Addison rearedinto the game, stags a pardon me,
(36:54):
Minahan and Nielsen will go to thebench for Puget Sound. Eight thirteen
to go, second quarter again. This is when the Loggers went on there
run yesterday against Carroll University of thehosts here tonight or this weekend rather Blue
Devil's hoping they can lock down ondefense here in the second quarter and take
(37:15):
a lead to halftime. Eight minutesleft to go on the second Perhart had
a lot of time there and it'sdeflected and now Arn's into the front court
Air pulls it up nice past theSorensen and then it foul from behind on
a reach in by Rear, andI think Puget Sound is just saying we're
gonna reach, We're gonna push untilyou call it. They are being super
aggressive and at some point. They'lljust gonna start calling those fouls and it
(37:37):
will start benefiting the Blue Doubles. Here out of bounds to Stout, see
Wagner checking back in, and there'ssome confusionist to who is coming out munching
horns go out Brennan, Sorenson,Geese and Shaper. Wagner out there for
(37:57):
the Blue Doubles. Wagner, it'sthem bounce all the way up to Geese
and deflect it, but she catchesit at the bree throw line back in
the corner. Now off to Wagner. She'll take a three. Lexie.
Wagner got open her three. It'stwenty to eleven. Stout, here's Gearhart.
Hear Heart hams off to Reardon onthe high left wing, rearing dribbles
out between the circles. Now movesoff on the right wing to oh Oh,
(38:20):
trying to cross over the point guard. Now dear Heart guarded by Wagner
from the wings. She drives allthe way to the hoop, scoop up
and under moved there and she'll scoretwenty to thirteen. Stout leads pressure in
the back door. Here Wagoner willbring it forward. Wagner has her head
up pulls a dribble up, getsit to Brennan across the time another region
by Reardon go to Brennan, overto Wagner. She'll step into another shot.
(38:43):
Oh, Lex see Wagner is feelingit. Early twenty three thirteen Stout
seven minutes to go in the secondquarter. Dear Heart dribbling into the lane
up on shape or product out ofunds. Great key been from Sam.
Sam Schaefer might be the most underrateddefensive player on this Stout team. She
(39:05):
gets in front of everybody. Shealways is in good position, and she's
got those lanky arms that she canget blocks on her but a lot of
other players can't. She is sucha good defender, a great point guard,
but her defensive abilities are next level. Inbounds for the Loggers, with
twenty to shoot, they get itin the corner right corner. Three.
(39:27):
That's an airball thrown up there andStout almost jumped it up, tied it
up rather. Oh gets to itnow for Puget sound out to Gearhart.
Only nine to shoot, though Gearhartgoes in the post to hill Hill guarded
by Willie. Out to Oh.She wants the three. It is well
off the mark and I don't thinkthat ever hit the rim and it is
not a shotlock violation. Is Weirdgets that shot off in time. Scout's
(39:50):
got to grab a rebound there. They got it off just before the shot
clock expired. Twenty three to fifteen. As there's a deflected pass, Wagner
are going to get to it,though the go out to Brennan on the
right wing. Now really at thetop of the key. Much isn't open
in the left corner Ballcake on Hills. She'll take the two end, she'll
drain it. There's twenty five tofifteen on the seventeen footer from the left
base line Stout Pike ten. Here'soh in to the front court for Puget
(40:14):
Sound. They're trying to put somepressure on Stout defensively, and they're trying
to kind of push the pace alittle bit. Here's Gearhart in the right
corner for the loggers, guarded byMuch. They're trying to get her to
drive baseline. Look like she traveled. They didn't call it. Oh Out
on the right wing, she drivesin float her no rebound. Wagner Wagner
off for Much and Stout has itand they're going to try to push in
the base. Oh, put somepressure on her. And now up to
(40:36):
Wagner here for Stout back to muchgo much on the left wing much.
That's two hands on her. That'sgot to be a foul. It's gotta
be weird. Now, Now somebodyjust got teed up. Weird just got
teed up for Puget sound. SoReardon got called for a foul, then
got teed up. So two teamfouls now plus a technical foul on Ard
and so she's up to three yearblue levels are going to go back to
(40:59):
their bench. There's a lone nchange waiting to come here for the loggers.
They're talking, officials are talking aboutit. I don't know if they're
gonna call it technical on Much too. But this was clearly a Reard situation
here that she reacted to that foulcall. I mean unless Much kind of
you know, bumped into her likeshe shouldn't have. Let's see if we
can hear the announcement here. Soa cylinder violation on Reardon and then a
(41:22):
technical foul on Reardon. That's it. So players are gonna check in weird
and so first off, two foulsfor South. Then they're gonna get the
ball back there. Reardon then justlike that, is up to three personal
fouls as well, and the Loggersthey're up to three team fouls in the
quarter as well. So Wagner gonnatake the two free throws for Stout with
(41:43):
five point thirty six to go inthe second quarter and the three doubles up
twenty five to fifteen. So theLaggers kind of losing their head a little
bit there, and Rearden is goingto take a walk too. She's going
behind the bench there as Wagner hitsthe free throw. You can tell Reardon's
a little out of sorts about thatlast situation. There's a lot of space
between behind the benches to the bleachershere at Carroll University, so she's basically
(42:08):
pacing in front of the fans backbehind her bench. Wagner hit both three
throws from the technical foul twenty sevento fifteen Stout and Stout gets the ball
back after that foul on Reard. So Stout with it up twelve and a
chance to make it, you are. Sam Shaffer brings up the front court,
(42:29):
gets the screen from Wagner, theyreturn it to her on the wing.
She'll step in She'll bounce, tryto bounce into Much, but it's
intercepted here by the loggers. I'vebeen transitioned. They'll come and the loggers
have it here with any eyesenman. Now they throw in the back court at
the back court violation. Backcourt violation, as Skag's been enamel the pass and
she grabbed it in the back court. Stout Basketball twenty seven to fifteen.
(42:52):
Stout with the lead Schaeffer Carns onthe right wing out near the one of
the Carol logos. Here on thenear side, here's Willy hands off in
the corner to much Much at theleft elbow, kicks it across the right
wing to Shaper. They skipping acrossthe Wagner another ball, fake step back
(43:12):
three on the way. Oh,it rolls out. It was so close
to going down. She's got thatshooter's touch in the rebound for Enni Eisenman.
You pore the loggers top to Brownhere on the right wing, Brown
all the way to the hoop inthe left hand two Stron that's gotta be
over the back. Much had agreat box out there and out of the
foul on Skags. Oh do theycall it on Much? Oh? My
goodness, that's a box out.Holy cow, How in the world is
(43:37):
that a foul? On? Aamuch? That's a box out? Since
James Naysmith invented the game, you'vebeen able to do that right there over
one hundred years. James N.Smith is rolling in his grave right now.
Twenty seven to fifteen. Stout. We've got a media time out four
forty eight to play in the secondquarter. Hugets on basketball after this here

told that there's been some seismic activityin Lawrence, Kansas at the side of
James Nasmith's grave, because he's allover right now after that CUF call on
da munch before the break. Nonetheless, the Blue Devils have a twelve point,
twenty seven and fifteen lead over PugetSound here in the second quarter of
(45:09):
four forty eights ago. I wastold by Jake Booster, our old friend
and Killer commentator. He said,I took it. It was too hard
on the officials yesterday. I don'tknow what I'm doing today, but I'm
telling you what, Jake, It'sbeen been a weird one here to start,
the Loggers have it out of thetimeout on that foul on at a
much and they will try to cutinto the Stout twelve point lead. It's
Brown off on the right wing intothe corner. She'll drive Baseline kicks it
(45:31):
to Nielsen in the lane. Gooddefense by Willie. They have to kick
it out to Skags. Here's adrive from the left side. A runner.
No, that's short, but anoffensive rebound for Eisaman. They go
out to Brown, she'll take athree. That one's short as well.
Long read on to the Loggers againand Nielsen has it back to Isisaman Nilssen
here at the top. She wantsa three. That is good. You
can't give a team that many chances. They'll make you pay. Twenty seven
(45:53):
to eighteen stout. Our ball wasat that end of the court for a
long time. Miss Sorenson gets aroundor reach in from Nnihan. They go
into Sorenson in the post. Sorensonback out on the right wing to much
much wants to drive. Had toget around Eisenman, who gave her a
little knee on the way in.In the corner to Shaper. Shaper looking
(46:14):
for somebody to cut to the bucket. It'll be Sorenson at the elbow.
Little fade away two point jumper,no good, and the Loggers come away
with the rebound. Stags as itup to Eisenman three forty four togo second
quarter stout by nine, twenty sevento eighteen. Here's Brown all the way
in up and under in Shaper thistime got out of position. I got
called for the foul on the fivefoot three drive. Miss Kennedy Brown and
(46:37):
the Loggers will be at the linehere Brown eighty four for some gay Rocher
theres Amanaheesa and Sydney Brennan check backin for stout. Sam Shafer checks out.
She's got two fouls now along withRosella Willie. So if the Food
Devils would be content to let Williestay out there a bit with those two
fouls, and she's not a hugeoffensive contributor to this team, and just
(47:01):
let her defend his Brown hits thefirst free throw, So a little run
here from Puget Sound. Scout wasup by twelve, They're only up by
seven now, twenty seven to twenty. Blu Devils needs somebody to pass too
out of the inbound here, andbloggers are going to back off the pressure
for the moment. Here's Wagner.Wagner offers Sorenson on the right wing up
(47:22):
top to Geeson. Geeson will switchit inside here too much. She passes
off for Geson finishes with the lefthand, and there's a little elevator play
that the Blue Devils love to runso much. Twenty nine to twenty.
Stout leads three eighteen to go herein the second quarter. Push off from
Nielsen takes the two, misses itshort and that is last touch by the
log Noah by Anna Hut trailer andwill be Laggers basketball on the left baseline.
(47:45):
Another one there. Rana Much wasboxing out and that was the same
foul they called earlier. Not AnaMuch. Three thirteen to go here in
the second second quarter, and boundsgoes to Nielsen. Nielsen in the past
of Minihan. Brennan helps beautifully. They gotta get out of there have been
a three second call. Now Minihanwill take a long two from the right
wing and she'll hit it. Twentynine to twenty two. Stout leads.
(48:07):
Sorenson brings it forty and Loggers havebacked off the full court press. Wagner
steps into a three and she'll missthis one short, kisses off the glass
and Nielsen gets the rebounds. Here'sMinihan into the front court for the Loggers.
Stout by seven, but the Loggersgoing on a run. Here's Nielsen
in toward the lane. They'll kickit right cornered Eisenman across over here for
(48:28):
Eisenman. She loses it out ofbound. Stout basketball two. Stout leads
two thirty eight to go here inthe second quarter, Stout fans making their
voices heard. They are filling upmost of the bleachers across from our broadcast
spot, and a good road ortwo of students on the ends, trying
to make some noise and make ittough for Puget sounds. Sidney Brennan puts
(48:50):
it on the deck, drives, goes out to Wagner and now back to
Sorenson around left wing to much afive out offense for Stout. Now Sorenson
will move in back out to muchball bake from three to Sorenson. Sorenson
up on the top of the key, Brennan for three. That's too strong.
Long rebound though to Sorenson twenty toshoot. Now again they'll pass it
or try to get it too much. Sydney Brennan from the left wing was
trying to find much and just overshother and threw it out of bounds on
(49:13):
the baseline. Stout by seven, and the Loggers have the basketball, I
mean he cover them and you tendto go hear. In the second half,
as the Budovus try to punch theirtickets to the Sweet sixteen next week.
Talk about it at halftime about wherethat Sweet sixteen matchups in regional could
be hosted. Here's Brown on theleft wing. Here for Puget sounds she'll
(49:34):
cross all the way in with theleft hand, wild shot, no good,
Soren said, with the rebound forStout up to Wagner. Wagner with
her head up looking, can't findanybody yet. She'll find it to Brennan
left wing, hadn't closed out on. She'll give it to Much of ball
fake on the three and the cornertakes and dribble, moves in and takes
the long two and hits thirty oneto twenty two. Stout leads ten points
for Anna Much. She crossed thethousand point threshold last night. As a
(49:58):
kick in the left corner and Brownis open for a three, but that
is well off the mark and aman of Geese and gets the rebound here
for Stout. Stout by nine withthe basketball one thirty to go. Oh
here in the quarter, Brennan togeeseon at the free throw line, bounce
pass inside the Sorens and hangs popput off the glass. What a pass
with thirty three twenty two. Stoutleads twenty eighteen to go second quarter,
(50:19):
Nielsen asking for a screen. Seewho comes and gives it to a Reaverman.
Will they'll switch out on Brennan passedinside, has deflected it is Stout
basketball walkers will get a couple ofsubs in here. But the Blue Devils
are turning over Huget sound. Thatwas one of the stats that stood out
to me last night. Stout turnedit over fourteen times, but they only
(50:42):
gave up four points off of turnoverslast night. To wash You, they
got back every time they turned itover. They got back on defense.
Part of that is because a lotof the turnovers were dead ball turnovers,
which are obviously harder to score on. But the Blue Devils scored twenty one
points off of twenty one wash Uturnovers because thats deflected out of mounds by
Gearhart. Stout will stay with ithere on the far sideline with twenty two
(51:02):
to shoot fifty nine points six left. Scouts should get two more possessions here
if they play it right at theend of this half, So going to
Sorenson at the top of the key. Sorenson to Wagner a little pressure here
from the Loggers. They'll go toBrennan left corner. She'll take it three
s Brennan for three thirty six twentytwo. Stout's got their largest lead of
(51:22):
the game for forty five seconds remaininghere in the first half. Here's Oh
driving in on Brennan deflected pass. They get it to Minihan though, and
she'll fall over, kicks it outof three at the top in and out
Readoun Sorenson and the Blue Devils willhold it here. Oh, gonna put
a little bit of pressure on Sorenson. Now Wagner with a high wine and
(51:43):
right, she'll pick it over toGieson. About a three second deferential between
game and shot block here at theend of the quarter. Oh, Wagner
got in the way of a passfrom Geson. I think she was trying
to go up to Brennan. Itdeflects and into the hands of Puget.
Sounds Stout by fourteen though backdoor cutand a layup is no good, but
a foul Brenning there late and tothe line will go Gearhart eleven point four
(52:05):
to go here in the second quarterand Huget sound at the line. Huget
Sound has shot six free throws thisevening. They're five of six. Sout
is nine of twelve at the line. Stout shooting fifty percent right now from
the field, Huget Sound just twentyfour percent. Eight of thirteen free throw
will not go. It is offfrom Gearheart a seventy eight percent pre throw
(52:27):
shooter on the season. South currentlyon a nine to two run over the
last three minutes and thirty seconds. In fact, Puget Sound has been held
scoreless for the last three minutes. One more that is well off the mark
as well. Geese gets the rebound, Stout can get the last shot of
a half up by fourteen thirty sixtwenty two. Wagner in the front court
with six with five, Wagner goesinside of much much, puts it on
(52:51):
of that, takes the two.It will fall off at the buzzer,
raight tons and trying to tip itback up, but couldn't get the shot
off, and the bluemits a heckof a half thirty six twenty two.
They lead the Puget Sound Sounders inthe around the thirty two here in the
Division three Women's basketball NCAA tournament. All right, we're gonna take you two

Now back to UW Stout women's basketballand the NCAA Tournament here on News
Talk wm EQ. It is halftimehere between Sound and Puget Sound Blue Devils
with a thirty six twenty two leadhere in the second round of the tournament.
Peekoutson alongside doing Ats, the athleticdirector for uws out joining us and
putting the headset back on as wealways love to see and uh, good
(55:52):
to have you, Good to haveyou with us. Yeah. Wow,
this music and the way we played, I want to get up and dance.
Serious, you got you got alittle bit of a jig on there.
I did right at the end ofthe half. That was That was
a lot of fun to watch.Boy. The way they are playing defensively
our girls right now, holy cow, it hasn't been impressive, that is
for sure. And this is great. I mean, you know, you
see this team and what it meansto the program, and obviously you know,
(56:15):
the first time in the tournament sincetwo thousand and seven to see them
go on the run that they've goneon, winning ten in a row,
right when in the YAC tournament.Just what does it mean, especially you
know, after knowing kind of whathappened here in the two thousands, when
you know Mark had had the girlscooking at that you had some great teams
in that are This team reminds mea lot of the They just the emotion
and intensity that they play with andthey care about each other. Those girls
(56:37):
back in the two thousands were thesame way and this team. I've spent
a lot of time last couple ofdays with them here with shoot arounds and
practices, so they are loose butso confident and believing each other so much.
It's just I got a great job. I just be a part of
it. Man. That's awesome. And the fun part too, is they
represent not only the university, butthe athletic department really well as well.
(57:00):
They're great students, they're great allaround people. They're just kind of they're
fun people to be around, aren'tthey. Yeah, they are. They're
They're great with the community, andI know our community back home follows them
like crazy, and a lot ofthem are here and they represent what the
true stout blue doovel athlete and thestudent is about and how they carry themselves
and represent our great university. It'sand it carries across or other sports.
(57:22):
The upperclassmen are great mentors for ouryounger, younger kids, and they just
take it all in and figure outhow to do things the right way.
And you know, our great coachesin this program, but also our other
programs and how they teach the leadershipand career based stuff that we do on
our campus, and it's good stuff, it really is. They not only
(57:45):
teach that, but they teach camaraderietoo, because you've got a number of
football players and other folks. AndI've seen at the Division one level the
athletic departments where sports don't necessarily supporteach other to the extent that you're teams
do all these football players down there. This is really cool to see just
how much the different teams really supporteach other as well. It is,
(58:06):
and they care and success breed success, and they get the feet off to
that that we had a heck ofa tournament run in the WIC with our
men's team and how great they played, and the battle they had with Platteville
and our hockey team and the twoand a half games they played last Saturday
night. You know, it's theyare, It's it's fun, and it's
(58:29):
kind of an atmosphere that Aaron andI try to try to impose or not
imposed, but just to that's howwe want our department to be and care
about each other. So I givea lot of credit to Aaron and all
our coaches and upperclassmen to carry thatthrough. If everybody so again halftime here
of Stout versus Puget Sound in thesecond round thirty six twenty two. Stout
with the lead doing ats joining usthe athletic director of Stout. Not only
(58:52):
that, I talked with Aaron aboutthis last night, but it's been great
to have the chancellor with you hereat the games. Not only that,
I mean she comes out to hockey, she's a football she's she is an
involved chancer in a lot of ways, but especially with the athletic department.
To see that support from the academicside is really nice. Yeah. She
she is so supportive of our studentathletes and our programs and it's great to
(59:13):
have a hands on chancellor that wantsto be a part of it and she
understands how important it is the visibilityto the rest of the not only the
campus, but the state of Wisconsinin our area that we recruit out of.
It's it's refreshing our kids on ourteams. See it, they enjoy
it. They know our chancellor andthat's really cool stuff. I know I
(59:36):
have a great boss. You definitelydo, and it's certainly, like you
said, you can even feel thatkind of camaraderie in that element of Stout
and the university as well. Iwanted to mention too. Obviously a couple
months ago, I think it wasa couple months ago now, there was
an announcement for you know, newrenovations that are going to come to Johnson
Field House and new donations that havecome in. What can you tell us
about that and and what that's goingto mean to recruiting and obvious to get
(01:00:00):
more more great athletes and student athletesout to the program. Yeah, it's
it's an important step that our studentshave asked for for a long time in
different surveys, so we have datato support it. Our student ref around
them. The students support new recreationfacilities and there's things that they wanted in
that that design and a lot ofit in our facility as renovations. So
(01:00:22):
there'll be multi purpose gyms, somedance studio type areas, increased cardio fitness,
locker rooms for our general students, single access, accessible restrooms and showers.
Our teams will all have their ownlocker room, which is something that
we haven't had ever. So it'sit's pretty emotional. Last fall when the
(01:00:45):
chancellor at our Scholarship Bank would announcedthe five million dollars gift from the from
Dallas and Dye Pankowski to support andadd to that project. It's just it
was emotional. You know, I'ma former coach, so that the tiers
were flowing and the chance she's tough. Now, all right, she was
steering up, but I know Iwas, and that's all right. That's
(01:01:06):
why we we love being a partof college athletics. It's amazing stuff speaking
to me and a former coach. You know, we're excited about this right
now. Don't get me wrong, there's that. But I know the football
schedule just came out and Carol's onit. So that's kind of fun we
get to I know Carol'll be comingup to Menominee this year in the fall,
but kind of fun to at leastget a chance to see someone.
Yeah, I don't know. Let'stalk about why our football team released their
(01:01:30):
schedule this week, right, butit's been out kind of our players of
knowing about it, but it's uh, they're trying to feed off the excitement,
I think. But no, theCarroll thing. Mike Shuless athletic director
here and really good friend of mine, colleague that we've worked together on the
Football Championships committee together. So alot of the things that we're doing are
(01:01:53):
some of the things that that Mikewas doing, and we learned from each
other with peers and try to dostuff that can help us both get better.
And that's where that comes from. They had an opening date, we
did, and it just having towork out and they're a good football program
and a good athletics department. Kindof neat thing. Today I went to
(01:02:14):
the baseball game here and one ofmy alumni from the early nineties, his
son was pitching today and got achance to catch up with somebody I coached
thirty three years ago. So butyeah, that it's good stuff. Certainly
is. As we get sett forthe second half here, I'm sure coach
Iverson will will know what buttons topush it all that. Gotta be pretty
(01:02:36):
pretty happy with that WHLD situation.I mean, had Iverson's coming and she
has just done some great things andit's a very close scroup, and it's
fun to just be a part ofit. Like I said earlier, so
again doing that journey. I appreciateyou dating the time with us. We'll
let you get back to pacing thesideline exactly. We talked for five more
minutes, and then I don't haveto think about it right the way they're
(01:02:57):
playing our team defensively, I feellike we're a good place. So keep
it up and let's go Blue doubles. Certainly, we will take it break.
We'll come back in three minutes,San Price, and we'll get ready
for the start of the second halfright after this out thirty six bloggers twenty

I I hate to age you here, but probably since before a lot of
these young women on the team wereborn the QW Stout. But nonetheless he's
(01:07:00):
seen a lot and I'm sure alot of folks listening at home have seen
a lot as well. Again, like I said, we had Jake Bustram,
some of the old broadcasts, MikeSullivan, what do you all reached
out to me today. They're soexcited to see a local team, you
know, trying to make a runin the NCAA tournament. A great game
yesterday, win over Wash you I'lltry to get a win here against beach
a sound with twenty more minutes leftto play a regulation. Some quick updates
(01:07:23):
here across the NCAA Tournament. Transylvaniawins against Ohio Wesley, so the winner
of this game will play Transylvania inthe Sweet sixteen, the second ranked team
the entire nation. They are stillundefeated. U W. Whitewaters up seventy
eight to sixty on Milligan with fourthirty seven to go. In that game
over at Ketchel Gymnasium, Hope winsover Depaw seventy to fifty five. So
(01:07:46):
if Whitewater holes on, they willplay Hope in the sweet sixteen round.
In that one one other score, ochcotsh is on the other side of the
bracket. They won tonight seventy fourto forty eight. It's South. We're
gonna make it's the crazy run toget to the championship game. Oshcotch would
have to that would be the spotwhere they'd meet. They couldn't mean before
that. As the NCAA tournament isset up all right, Stout shot forty
(01:08:12):
seven percent from the field in thatfirst half eleven of twenty three. They
were nine of twelve at the line, five of twelve from beyond the arc.
And they will start off with basketballmoving right to leftes you listen to
them at home here on New's Talkwm e Q. They'll go into Manda
geeseon in the post and it's pokedaway by Sophie Nilsson in a quick turnover
and the loggers bring it forward quicklyup to Gearhart. Gearhart to Nielsen.
(01:08:33):
Nielsen hands off on the right wingto Reaverman on a week she'll cross over
at the elbow moving in. Sowe'll go out to Minihan for a short
range jumper on the right baseline. No good falls off to Wagner here per
Stout and the loggers just reaching in. Then I think they're going to just
kind of challenge the officials to callfouls here in the second half because it's
a lot of pressure being put onand there is the foul call as Storns
(01:08:53):
had had it in the right cornerand there was the reach. I think
at some point they're gonna have toagain. I think pee it sounds literally
their strategy is We're gonna pressure theheck out he until you call a foul.
At this point, there's not aton of foul trouble. We talked
about Reared and getting in all thatfoul trouble in the first half with her
technical foul. Wagner in the rightcorner on the inbounds here should get it
(01:09:15):
out to shafer. High pressure herefrom the loggers. There should be some
passes down underneath open for Stout ifthey can play through this pressure a bit
much into the lane out to Sorensen. She'll step into a top of the
key threes Reagan Sorensen for three thirtynine and twenty two. Stout with the
lead. There comes Nilson Nilsen inthe right corner, a drive in from
(01:09:38):
Reverman on the baseline deflected out ofbounds, and Stout will keep it.
The Stout student section has moved fromone set of bleachers to the other set
at the end to our right sothey can provide some noise and pressure on
the Loggers defensively or offensively, Ishould say at the end, to our
right, and great to see somany other athletes out supporting their women's basketball
(01:10:00):
team here in the NCAA tournament. Here's Gearhart high winding right, trying to
dribble in on much. She'll moveout to the right. She'll bounce off
for Brown. Brown on the wing. With five to shoot, She's got
a step into a three. Shedoes, it's off the side. No.
Wagner gets the rebound and she's bumpedby Gearhart, her foul. As
they get more aggressive, Dupuget sound, the fouls might start to rack up
a little bit. I'm stout witha seventeen point lead and the basketball with
(01:10:28):
eight thirty four to go on thethird quarter, Lexi Wagner on the high
right wing. She'll go inside toGeese and geeseon trying to switch it over
to Shaffer. Didn't have anything onthat pass, and it's intercepted by Kennedy
Brown. Brown then loses to dribbleand it's grabbed by Shaper. A little
pressure from Swords and Shaper, thenOh, she takes the pass goes up
with the left hand. No Sorensonput back, no tips out, Geeson
has it here for Stout back uptop to Wagner. Wagner on the left
(01:10:48):
wing, long thray, no goodray bound off to Nilsen here for the
Loggers. Whoa boy that would havebrought the house down there if that had
gone. There comes Brown in theleft corner. Gearhart Gearheart into the lane,
loses it Ana much with the steels. She's got Sorenson and Wagner with
her. She'll find Sorenson. Shetakes one dribble and lays it in and
(01:11:08):
it's forty one to twenty two.Stout leads seven forty nine to go on
the third quarter. The Loggers needa run. They need to find that
extra gear to get them back intothe game. Lauren Arn's ready to check
back in at the next dead ballhere for Stout. Nielsen on the left
wing. She'll step into a threeand it will row out offensive rebound put
(01:11:29):
back, no put a foul.I think they get anna much here on
the put back from Reeverman, andthat is a foul her third or second
excuse me? That will send PugetSound to the line to shoot two free
throws. Alessa Lodermeyer number twenty oneLaurens as a lion with mother Arns and
(01:11:50):
Alyssa Lodermeyer checking back into the gamefor Stout checking in for the first time.
I should say loder Meyer, juniorfrom Hugh Minnesota Stout student section makes
enough noise to throw Riverman off hergame. She's a sixty four percent free
throw shooter sheet senior for this team. None more free throw coming and it
(01:12:19):
is no good as well, andthe rebound for Merse Lodermeyer here for Stout,
Wagner brings it forward. Here forthe Blue Devils, Wagner picks up
pressure from Minihan across the timeline allover for Sorenson on high right. Sorenson
picks up her dribble up across thethree point line, gets it too much
on the ring much loses a defender, difficult passer for Arns. Pinballs around,
(01:12:40):
it's grabbed by Minihan. Then theylose it there. They got to
make sure they don't have a backcord violation. Reaverman holds onto it and
gets it up to Nielson. Nielsendriving in enough pushing off there and a
charge call on Nielsen Nielsen tries tolaugh at all, but the Blue Devils
get it back on the turnover andthe charge call Jugit Sound. Parents who
(01:13:00):
have those front row seats, they'releaning up against the chains behind them there
because I think they kind of knowthat the season's on the line right now.
They need to have their loggers goon a run to keep in it.
Stout by nineteen given go with Sorenson. She'll catch deflected pass trying to
get into loder Meyer. Last touchby Lodermeyer, and it's Lagger basketball Lager.
They're on the sideline. The loggersare getting their hands in the passing
(01:13:25):
lanes really nicely. Here at thestart of this third quarter, Stout has
not had nearly as much time inspace to pass as they have had throughout
the course on this first half ofthis game, so Out shooting forty eight
percent. Stout is apparently leading fiveto nothing in this third quarter. If
you go back to the second quarter, Hugest Sound is on a six minute
(01:13:45):
and fourteen second scoreless treat with stickingon that twenty two point total forty one
to twenty two. At the momentWagner reaches in layup will go here for
Nilssen as she gets around her andthey finally break almost seven minute drought.
Do the longers stop by seventeen Muchfakes out of defender, bounces into Sorensence.
She'll hang in the lane, popand hit from two. It's forty
(01:14:09):
three twenty four. Stout leads sixtwenty four to go. Here in the
third off on the left wing,Nielsen driving in. She had it poked
away and it will stay with theloggers as she was trying to get to
the hoop. They're just kind ofgiving it up to Sophie Nilsson and trying
to have her with the hot handtake it to the buckings. To night,
she has been most of the offensefor the Launders. Here this evening
(01:14:30):
we finally see Addison Rearden back in. She has again three personal fouls,
including a technical foul. She gotfrustrated at the defense Anna Much was giving
her in that first half. Here'sNielsen on the right wing, Stout leading
forty three to twenty four. Anotherpush off as Geeson defends Nielson gets triple
team. They go up and aroundMinihan at the right elbow out on the
(01:14:51):
wing at three on the way itis short again Minahan with the rebound,
I have to miss from Gearhart.Another three this from Nielsen. That's good.
Nielson hit from the left wing andit's forty three to twenty seven Stout
five fifty three to go. Herein the third, Blue Devils with the
basketball high wide and the left hisarms Arns us in on the left wing
for Sorenson. Little zone defense herefrom the Loggers. Shaper in the corner
(01:15:15):
to arms Arns typicalt pass. I'mnot sure what she was doing there,
Minihan deflex. It gets the steels. She probably traveled and she'll make the
lay up the other way. Shetook a really weird dribble there and it
looked like she traveled, But non'tcall. Forty three to twenty nine stout,
fourteen point lead as the Loggers goon the run. That was what
they needed. They needed an answerand they're getting it right now. Blue
(01:15:35):
Devils have it here on the rightwing. They go to Geeseen at the
right elbow, given go with Sorenson. Layup is there and one. She
got pushed from the side by gearArd and Sorenson has a three point play
chance. The forty five twenty ninelead for the Blue Devils is Sorenson now
has fifteen points on the night,Anna Much ten, Lexi Wagner eight.
(01:15:59):
Man just with three tonight or AmandaGeeson is not terribly far away from one
thousand point mark for her career. As well as Sorenson hits the pre throw.
She's now five of seven at theline after starting over two. She's
said her last five forty six twentynine stout five oh nine to go here
on the third quarter of three fromthe wing. No good but a rebound
(01:16:21):
for Minihan on the mist from Reardon. Bloggers keep it here with the new
twenty. This is Minihan often Nielsenguarded by Schaeffer, seventeen points stout lead
Nielsen leaving back out to the topof the key with five to shoot.
Minihan's got a take one here.Minihan going in ball, bait goes up.
(01:16:41):
Didn't hit any ram. That's ashock block violation. Blu Devils haven't
man. We will get a mediatime out. Four forty three to go
here in the third stout forty six, hugit sound twenty nine. We're back
right after this here on you're holdfor Blu Devils basketball. You are listening

Women's Basketball and the NCAA Tournament hereon Newstalk WMEQ. Stout up forty six
(01:17:50):
to twenty nine over the Nugent SoundLaunders Peacaduts in air courtside Duma Carrol University
in Waukeshaw, Wisconsin. We're fortythree to go in the third sound.
By seventeen, they've outscored Huget Soundten to seven. In this third quarter,
they out scout scored Fugit Sound twentyone to eleven in the second and
(01:18:10):
fifteen to eleven in the first. They've won every quarter is so far.
Reagan Soornson has sixteen and Amuch tensorts in five of nine from the field,
Animus four to six from the field, Stout shooting fifty one percent.
They haven't been out rebounded twenty fiveto twenty one, including fifteen offensive rebounds.
Poor Pugeit Sound tonight, so theyhave this Huget Sound has more offensive
rebounds and they have defensive rebounds tonight. Four forty to go. Here in
(01:18:33):
the third quarter, Sound has abasketball up seventeen decent at the right elbow.
They leave her wide open. She'lltake a dribble drive. They'll go
out to Shaper in the right corner. She is fouled on the shot.
Shaper, I don't think she thoughtshe was fouled. Gearhart didn't think she
fouled her. Gearhart just picked upher fourth pound. There's four thirty one
to go. You're in the thirdand Gearhart fouls a three point shooter.
(01:18:56):
That is the third time I believetonight three why shooter has been fouled three
here this evening. Sam Shaper's gotthree coming, and she will miss the
first off the heel. That isthe fourth on Gearhart. Gearhart's just trying
to laugh it off right now.She has been the person who has committed
(01:19:18):
a number of those fouls. Missusthe second. This Shaper as well,
she's got one more so the doublesstruggling here at the line. He'll miss
the third. She missed all threefree throws to Shaper and Shaeffer. I
mean, on the season of seventyfour free throw shooters can't have that happen,
(01:19:39):
especially if Sut makes it till theround of sixteen, they're gonna have
to make all their free throws.Gets that Transylvania team who has already won
tonight. So moving on the rightside for rear rearing on the wings,
Stout up by seventeen, gets ascreen. There a lot of contact moving
around on that screen. A pokeaway there, a wild shot, no
good. Shaper tries to grab theboard and who touched it last? It
(01:20:00):
is touched by the Longers last upthe legas Skags and Stout will have it.
Oh. Checking in for the Longers, out goes gear Hard, Wagner
back in for Stout, out, goes Shafer. What I like about Shaffer
and this Blue Doubles team, It'slike coach talked about last night. You
know, Blue Doubles are really good. It's just kind of shaking things off,
(01:20:21):
right. I mean, miss threefree throws, It's fine. I'll
just get points another way. Andthey are very good at that and they
have an all season Lord Arms bringsit across for Stout. Here's Wagner at
the free throw line. She'll hesitatetake a two point jumper from the right
side of the lane. No good. No Sorensen in there right now,
giving her a bit of a rest. Wagner trying to provide the offense and
missing the two point jumper. Seventeenpoint lead for Stout, and Wagner kind
(01:20:44):
of pulled her hands down let Minihandrive past her. She missed the shot
in threbon per Stout up. Itcomes too much much all the way to
the hoop with the left hand mllayupis good. Forty eight twenty nine Stout
with three twenty four to go onthe third. Sorensen and Ulyssa Lodomi are
ready to check back in for Stoutat the next dead ball Here's O from
the left wing. She dribbles intothe lane right side, bounces off for
(01:21:05):
a back door cut. It bouncesout on a miss and Brennan has it.
Here's Wagner. Bouget Sound is kindof sucking gas a little bit.
They go to deeson right side. She is foul by Reard in her court.
A hard foul from Reardon and theBlue Devils will get two free throws.
(01:21:26):
That is the fourth on Reardon becauseof that technical five. You know
they've only got her for three inour system, but it should be four,
I do believe. And she willcheck out with Menahan as well.
So Puget Sound going deep into thebench. You're bringing Claire Thompson, the
freshman from Santa Cruz, California, along with Autumn Hill. I'm surprised we
(01:21:47):
haven't seen more Autumn Hill in thisgame. I thought she was going to
be a tough matchup for Stout tonight, especially on the offensive side of the
ball. She provides that the lankykind of shot blocking ability, and they
have not gone to her much tonight. Have Puget Sound. First free throw
good from Geeson. Three zero fiveto go here In the third, Stout
(01:22:08):
by twenty. Make it twenty one. As Deeson hits them both fifty to
twenty nine blue doubles, it willbe great. Five to go here in
the third, where Brennan and Geesoncheck out and Allison Letcher finally gets into
the game. It's a little surprisedwe didn't see her last night. The
junior from Wyndham, Minnesota three pointspecialist year numbers dropped down. She shot
almost forty percent from three last year, twenty seven percent this season. But
(01:22:31):
she is a big energy booster tothis Blue deble team. As Lodermyer gets
a deflection, they'll dive for thisone. Floor burns all over jump ball
and the Loggers will maintain possession. Now I think Wagner might have had possession
on the court. Are they gonnareset the shot clock? I think no,
They're gonna keep it at fifteen two. Fifty to go here in the
(01:22:51):
third in bounds the oh here forthe Loggers, Hill trying to post up
on Lodermeyer inside. Now she'll goout and give a screen to Oh.
Lodermeer switches off on her and willlook like a carry, but she got
away with it, kicks it inthe corner for Thompson. Good ball moving
here, Brown weaving into the lane, tough floater. That's an airball,
(01:23:12):
and that is another shock quock violation. That's got to be the fourth or
fifth. Tonight, Blue Devils havejust turned up the pressure on defense and
the Loggers have not known how toscore this evening. Sadly, it takes
Reagan Sorenson's double double away because shedoesn't get a rebound. There is now
(01:23:33):
Reagan Sorenson has a past the Letcherleft side and went off for her foot.
I think as it rolls out ofbounds and be huge, it sound
basketball, but I mean she's gotanother twelve minutes left. Nonetheless, Sorenson
would have had a double double, her fifteenth of the year if not for
that shock block violation. Bloggers willinbound here Sorenson much Letcher, loder Meyer
(01:23:57):
Wagner of the five and the floorfor the Blue doubles two levels trying to
get back to the sweet sixteen forthe first time since two thousand and six.
Remember two thousand and seven, thatlast year, that really good team
that Mark Thomas had. As loderMyers called for a block and a drive
by Brown or be out of boundslooking here to the Laggers. That twenty
seventeen that was so good for Sout. You know, they hosted the regional
and kind of like Carol lost inthe opening round to Simpson. It was
(01:24:21):
the year two years before that whenthey had to go on the road that
they got to the Sweet sixteen. And kind of a similar path this year
as those two thousand and five twentysix teams. As Brown crosses over into
the lane, tough runner off theglass and it will go fifteen to thirty
one Stout Manna Much and Lexie Wagnerplaying a back and fourth game in the
(01:24:42):
back court here. Now Wagner atthe middle of the court will bring it
across the time line, get itto Much as the Loggers move into his
own defensor two three, Much atthe right elbow backs it out now to
Wagner up tops. He'll step intoa three. That's short Loadermeyer with the
redound and put back is good.Loder Meyer stuck in there. Nobody said
we're coming. You don't see loderMeyer coming. Fifty two thirty one Stout
(01:25:06):
a drive in oh in the rightcorner of three. It is no good
rebound Hills. She tipped it outof bounds. It's Stout basketball one twenty
six to go here. In thethird, the Blue Devils up by twenty
one fifty two thirty one. Onthe longers, Anna much will check out
(01:25:28):
there's a man of geese and checksback in for the Blue Devils. Loder
Meyer, Letcher and Sorenson and Wagnerin there as well. Lodermeyer looks like
she's gonna bring this across with Wagner. Wagner says, get out of here.
I'm gonna go ahead and take it. It's deflected. It'll stay with
Stout, but still have three secondsleft to get it across the timeline.
So let's see if the Blue Devilstry to pass them the front core here,
(01:25:51):
they can go to Lodermeyer if theywant in the back, but I
don't know if they want to gothat way. They're gonna throw it to
Sorenson and is intercepted by Nielsen.Nielsen then over to Brown on the left
wing. Ball fake, She'll drivein, kicks it to Oo on the
right corner. O dribbles in nowhands off on a trailer to Nielsen for
three good Nilsson's been the best playertonight for the Bloggers, sixteen points for
(01:26:12):
her now fifty two thirty four Stoutleads. Stout quickly breaks the pressure here
from the Sounders on that main basket. Here's loder Meyer in the left corner,
Allison Letcher Letcher inside to Wagner.Wagner gets double teamed out to loder
Meyer on the left wing. Backto Wagner. She'll step into a three
that is off the side. NoSorenson skies for the offensive board, it's
blocked and goes off for her aswell. It will be logger basketball.
(01:26:34):
Hill did a really good job gettingthe hand down on her. The Blue
Devils want a foul call. Theremight have been a little bit of contact,
but a pretty good block from mylanky arms of Autumn Hill. As
a Blue Devils lead by eighteen withforty three point two left to go here
in the third quarter, forty secondsremain as the clock sticks down, a
(01:26:55):
Puget sound should get a two forone here. I shouldn't say that they
take some time off. Stopp couldprobably hold for the final shot if the
Loggers don't come up with anything anotherleft wing three. This is off the
mark though. On the shot fromNilsen shot block off Geeson with loder Meyer,
she goes up, she's fouled, and she'll go to the line for
a couple of free throws here attwenty one point three to go in this
(01:27:16):
third quarter, let's a loder Meyergive them the Blue Devils some good moments
here off the bench. Loder Meyersixty one percent free pro shooter on the
season. Wagner out and Arn's in. Blue Devils have gone but ten deep
here today. You don't see aton of teams do that in the NCAA
tournament. And I'm much also goingto check back in, but I believe
(01:27:40):
for loder Meyer, so I thinkwe're good on ready to shoot the free
throws here? Is there an inshowis of blood issue here? Geeson had
a skinned up knee, so theyput some tape on it here. Make
sure she's not gonna get any ofthat on the court. Twenty one point
(01:28:04):
three to go here in the thirdloder Myers first in and out. It's
so tough when you don't play aton loder Meyer junior getting to the line
in an NCAA tournament game. Thenerves are already there, and certainly being
at the line it adds to it. But she'll rattle in the second fifty
three to three. Four South leavesas Lodermeyer checks out some good minutes and
(01:28:27):
the bam. They're gonna let herhear it. So is the bench as
well. Love what they see outof the list of loder Meyer. Tonight
nineteen points. Stout leads seventeen secondsremain here. In the third quarter,
Loggers have it off on the leftwing Reaverman, Reaveman drives in poked away,
it rolls to Hill. She lostit and it's style basketball and they've
got time here nine point nine togo in the third. They can get
another bucket, certainly now Puget Soundin these situations has put a lot of
(01:28:49):
pressure on the Blue Devils bringing hercross. Remember they got a foul PND rigging
Sorenson who took a shot from halfcourt as well. They'll get it up
to Sorenson at the timeline, goodpass ahead to much Geeson at the buzzer.
It goes with two seconds left inthe third and Stop leads by twenty
one. At the end of threequarters. They outscore the Loggers nineteen to
(01:29:13):
twelve and the third and they'll seeif they can hang on for the next
ten minutes to go to the SweetSixteen that comes up right after this.

thirty two matchup here in the NCAADivision Three Tournament. The Blue Devils lead
fifty five to thirty four over thePuget Sound Loggers. Peekadutson, Rick You,
Dan Pryce or bus is back inthe studio. The stats here that
really stand out for the Puget Soundthis evening is shooting just twenty six percent
(01:30:40):
from the field. They're thirteen tofifty and they have hit three out of
twenty two three pointers tonight. Theonly player that's hit threes is Nilsson.
Everybody else has missed their attempts, including seven misses from Kennedy Brown Tonight four
Puget Sound. That has to bethe big difference. In fact, if
not for second chance Puget Sam willbe down by more. They have outscored
(01:31:01):
Stout eighteen to three and second chancepoints tonight. Shaper in the corner here
out of the break for the quarter. Now they moved around left wing here
to Sorenson, back to Shaper onthe right wing. On the skid pass.
Shaper holding the ball up, getsin too much between the circles.
They go inside to Sorenson, greatpast the Geeson inside. She's fouled out
one and Gearhart has fouled out ofthe game. Gearheart did it again.
(01:31:24):
She got into the landing zone ofAmanda Geeson, and again Gearheart can't believe
it. Coach Kushiyama is kind ofbeside himself. He's not arguing with the
official. He's just got a lookon his face like I can't believe about
three or four of the calls hehad. He gives Gearhart a big hug
on her way to the bench becauseI think the loggers, I mean,
(01:31:47):
and that body language kind of showsthat maybe they think this game is over.
I mean, there's still nine toforty left to go. There's a
lot of timeline before Deeson's gonna shootone refree throw. Here, they're waiting
for O to come in the gamecore and get into the lane to rebound.
Stout leads fifty seven thirty four Deesonat the line for the three point
(01:32:08):
play and it will roll off.It tips out of there, the Sounders
will go chuck it down on thecorner. Oh, with the rebound,
here comes Kennedy Brown Stout by twentythree. Brown all the way to the
hoop up and under misses the layup. It rolls out and eventually it's grabbed
by Puget, Sound and Reaverman inthe corner to Oh, she'll find Nielsen
at the left elbow pops up.She goes out to Brown. Then wanting
(01:32:29):
a three, she loses the dribble. Everybody dives for it. Geson comes
up with it and hands it offto Shaper. Brown took a shot as
everybody dove on to the floor aswell. It's five on four. First
moment here Geeson skips it across toArns. Arn's on the left wing,
back in the corner. Much Oh. She thought about the three dribbles in
takes the two. It's short andan offensive rebound for Geeson. Geson then
(01:32:49):
is fouled. See if they getOh or they get Reverman here, they're
gonna get Reverman for the bowl orthe second vowel of this border on the
longer, so Soutt will have itout of bounds as Range checks sound and
Brennan checks in the Oak Blair memorialgrabbing the moot doubles Blo devils eight fifty
eight away from moving on to thenext weekend. What up inbounds pass and
(01:33:14):
that'll go off at Geeson's head.A great pass she used to get the
shot up quick enough and it wasblocked by Nielsen and the block went off
with her head out of bounds.Great little action there to move from the
right to the left block to getopen on a backscreen on the inbounds on
the baseline, but she just didn'tfinish it. So now Puget Sound in
the front court. Brown with iton the left wing. Reaberman back to
Brown, chop it to the leftwing, a three on the way.
(01:33:35):
Still oh for eight now for Brown. As Sorenson gets the rebound took some
contact off for Shaffer. Shaeffer bringsit up here for Stout with about two
seconds to spare to get her acrossthe timeline. Schaffer, with a return
pass from Sorenson Brennan into the leftarea post for Much takes the two throw
up an airball, but Amanda Geesongets to it here on the right block.
(01:33:56):
She tries to push it out tothe top of the key. It
Oh intercepts the pass. Kind ofwild bluesy goosey play right now from both
teams. Brown kicks it in theleft corner. A three from Revermen well
off the mark and airball, andnow Anna Much got tied up in the
back court. The Loggers get theball back on the tie up, his
Minihan ties up Much and with eighttwelve to play, Stout leads by twenty
(01:34:18):
three, but it will be Loggersbasketball with a new thirty and Mounts coming
up for Minihan and the loggers fromthe right baseline in their front court into
Nilsen Nielsen in the right short corner, trying to dribble out of there.
Geeson provides pressure, Schafer helps doubleteams. Deflected pass and she tried to
(01:34:41):
find a cutter there in Reverman andit's stolen away by Stout. Shafer up,
it comes to Geese and Geeson onthe wing, stops on the right
side of the lane, backs itback out to Shafer. Still plenty of
time twenty one to shoot back uptop to Shaper. Shaper the zone defense
are trying to trap much in theleft corner. Oh, she lost the
handle on that pass. Deflected butnot out of bounds and stolen away by
the loggers. I'm not sure whathappened on that much pass. She just
(01:35:02):
kind of whipped on it. Here'sBrown all the way layup will go.
She's got that quick up and undermovedand the two point lay up falls fifty
seven thirty six afflected passer in thebackboard. Stout's a little bit out of
sorts. They got to slow itdown. Sorenson might be the player to
do it. Sorenson in the lanetakes the two doesn't fall and the rebound
for Nielsen and the Loggers, anda foul on Geeson on the loose ball.
(01:35:25):
Fifty seven thirty six Stout seven toRason ball for her first. A
couple of subs here for the Loggerswill bring Hill and Reardan back in Asuela
as player Thompson, Oh and Skaggsstay out there, so they're taking Brown
(01:35:51):
off the court. She gotta almostkeep her out there. Sam a Nilssen.
They're the two best scorers right nowfor the Loggers at the moment seven
thirty six Stout leads seven to twelveto go here in the fourth quarter,
here's Oh at the top of thekey guarded Ayanna Much between the legs.
Dribble gets a screen from Hill, who's up on the left is Oh Oh
with the back door bounce pass,it's deflected out of bounds. Yenna Much
(01:36:13):
is stay with the Loggers on theright baseline with nine to shoot seven o
two to go here in the fourthThompson to him bound from the baseline in
the front court for the Loggers,Oh trying to get up in the corner
and staid they'll go out to rearingfor a right wing three. No good,
too strong. Eason with the boxout for Stout, Schaefer and Geeson
will play back and forth. Hereis the Loggers put some pressure on in
(01:36:35):
the back court up to Wagner,Wagner, Geeson back to Wagner. Because
the doubles are across the timeline.Brennan goes inside to geeseon geeseon up on
Hill and it will bounce out ofthere, and then Geeson popped her trying
to go for the rebound. Therepatter in the head on the way through.
Hopefully Hill's up a shaking the cobwebsout. He's lost going for the
(01:37:00):
rebound, gets her second foul, they'll take her out. Fifty seven to
thirty six Stout six, forty twoto go. Blue Devils have been held
scoreless for the last three minutes ofplay. In fact, no team,
I mean both teams have only scoredtwo points in this fourth quarter. And
that might be the product you justbeing a little bit gassed after a long
weekend and again playing last night, having to play today. Bad passing the
(01:37:26):
hill, but then it's intercepted. The layup though, won't go for Thompson
and the rebound to Lexi Wagner, and she is fouled with a fourth foul
on the Loggers here in the quarter. See they get if they got Thompson
here for the foul they did. What's so crazy? The team's third foul,
not fourth. Excuse me? Soone more to give before the Blue
(01:37:46):
Devils will be shooting here in thefourth quarter into Wagner, I'm trying to
break the press and a deflected passit will stay with Stout. But they
only have seven seconds that go acrossthe timeline. Reflected pass like that,
you don't get a new reset onthe ten second count up too much much
trying to look for some space.Much to Wagner, they got two seconds
(01:38:10):
to get it across. I don'tthink they knew it, yep, ten
second violation. Wagner didn't know it. Man, It is a turnover to
the Loggers six to eleven, agoStout by twenty one, fifty seven to
thirty six. It's still both teams. I mean, Huget sound one of
six in this fourth quarter from thefield. Blue levels are one to five,
(01:38:35):
and again Puget sounds still three oftwenty five on three pointers. Tonight.
They have not been able to hitanything from beyond the arc. It's
a lot of bricks. Unfortunately,if you're a Puget Sound fan in the
hill deflected pass, it'll be interceptedby much And she's fouled by Thompson for
the fourth foul of the fourth quarter. So from here on out, the
(01:38:56):
Blue Devils will be shooting free throwsthe rest of the way. I think
that's just the fourth. They saidit's the fifth to the officials they're going
over the bench. It was markedso quickly, I think on the board
that the officials thought it was thefourth when they looked up at the scoreboard.
Here, so O is gonna checkout for the Loggers Stout leading fifty
seven thirty six with five fifty sixto go, trying to make it to
(01:39:20):
play the second ranked team in thecountry in Transylvania on Friday next week.
Now, question is where will thatbe as the results look at the moment,
there's a good chance that that couldbe played at Whitewater, not Transylvania,
because Stout is too far away fromTransylvania to bus and there's only a
certain number of flights that the NCAAwill pay for. You know, in
(01:39:40):
Division three to get teams where theyneed to go. So it'd be interesting
to see there's a chance Whitewater hostsnot Transylvania, even though they're the higher
seed next weekend. But we'll we'llhave to hear the official announcements of that
when everything is all said and done. As Sorenson throws it away, I
look like a deflection there, butthe ball kind of loose. Every nobody
a little loosey goosey with the ballright now, the Loggers get it back,
(01:40:05):
Lauren Arn's gonna check in. Somebodyneeds to kind of settle down at
least, well really both teams, but certainly for Stout, just somebody kind
of handle the ball and chill out, relax and try to see this game
out. Fifty seven thirty six Stoutfive forty five to go. Here in
the fourth, here's Minihan back intothe game. She'll hand off on the
(01:40:28):
left wing and dribbling in is Nataliaseper Lopez inside a layup. No good
there from Minihan on the given go, and she'll miss out with the rebound.
Get pressure in the back court, shape her up to Arns Arns to
Wagner, and the Blue Devils haveit across the timeline, Wagner on the
high left, back up to Arnson top of the key right wing.
They go inside to Much in theright elbow post area, back out to
(01:40:53):
Arns, Arns around to Wagner nowon the right wing Sorenson, she'll turn
around for two. That's well offthe market, roll out and it's rebounded
once again by Sea Pair Lopez.See for Lopez here on the right wing,
newly into the game for the Loggers, move it around the perimeter and
they'll get it over to Katie Anderson, another newcomer to the game here four
Puget sound Anderson's opening the corner, passes up the three, takes a runner
(01:41:15):
on the baseline, no Wagner withthe rebound for Stout. We are stuck
on fifty seven to thirty six outwith the lead four forty five to go.
Schaeffer too much on the left wing, back up top to Shaper,
around to Wagner. She wants athree, no good from the right wing,
and it's a rebound by Nielsen.Nobody really taking this fourth quarter over,
and you just feel like the legsare real heavy right now for both
(01:41:36):
these squads and Sea Pair Lopez losesa dribble, goes out to Nielsen.
She'll take a three off the markminahand with the rebound two point j off
the glass, that'll go fifty seventhirty eight stout four fifteen to play here
in the fourth up to Sorenson.Sorenson's one on one with Nielsen, but
that long, lanky frame and Nilssenwill back it out. Wagner now between
(01:41:59):
the circles, much share at theelbow, tacked away from her and stolen
Menahan fell down with it, butgot rid of it just in time before
a travel call. And now Shaperis getting it called for a foul and
transition applying pressure to the ball carrierin Katie Anderson. That'll take us to
the media timeout. Four minutes leftto go here in the fourth corner.
Much to the delight of the players, they get a chance to rest.
(01:42:19):

seed in this region coming up onFriday as part of the Sweet sixteen in
the Division III women's basketball Tournament.Minihan with the basketball here for the logger.
Out of the time out. Sorensendeflects the pass up top. That'll
go out to bounce. Stay withthe loggers. We are now down to
three fifty one left to go.Stout fifty seven longer thirty eight. They're
a Puget Sound. Puget Sound isshot just twenty five percent from the field
(01:44:13):
today. Minihan bounces into the posterto Nielsen. Nielsen into the lane looking
for a pass. It's not there. Schaeffer defense. She's got three fouls
after that last one before the mediatimeout. Nilson now on on the wing,
fakes a pass, spins into theelbow, bounces inside Geese and got
a hand in there, deflected itand it's a steal. Per stout up
to Wagner. Stall gonna try topush the pace up to Arns. Arns
(01:44:34):
ball, Fink goes up. Itis no good rebound for Puget Sound and
they will take it away with KatonSmith, the freshman from Portland, Oregon.
A lot of newcomers into the gamefor the Loggers. I think that
coach Kushiyama not sure he's given uphere. I think he just wants fresh
legs out there at the moment.A number of starters on the bench right
(01:44:55):
now for Puget Sound getting some NCAAexperience. Are some of the player now
Nilsen dribbling in. They'll go inthe corner per three, that's off the
front iron. No good from Telliaseeper Lopez and now deflected passes. Gesen
deflects it into the hands of Sorenson. She's got the steal. Two fifty
to go stout by nineteen in theright corner. Arns Oh thought about the
(01:45:15):
three. Instead, they'll go toSorenson. She'll hang for two and she'll
hit it and Sorenson up to eighteento night. It would be shocked if
she is not the player of thisregion, hero of this pod. Rather,
I'm not sure if they award thator not, but I would imagine
she'd be well within the running. She'll be the most valuable player of these
four teams over these three games.Deflected pass again by Sorenson to see her
(01:45:39):
Lopez in the left corner. She'llthrow up a wild three. That's no
good rebound. Sorenson two seventeen togo. Stout by twenty one, fifty
nine to thirty eight. Here overthe loggers, Arns into the front court
Geeson left block, she goes uphis foul, can't get the bucket to
go, but she'll go to theline for two free throws off and now
Molly Bill is whether they check inhere fort Stout. That's the type of
(01:46:04):
thing that usually means that the bluedoubles are rather than really bad shape,
or they're in really good shape, and tonight they're in real good shape.
Emily Bills, the freshman from Hoka, Minnesota, resent Hoka High School graduate
and right now Sophie Nelson getting hugson the sideline for Puget sound. I
think coach Skushiyama knows the writings onthe wall at this point is Geeson's free
(01:46:27):
throw is too strong. Fifty ninethirty eight, Stout two nine to go.
Geeson tonight nine points, trying toget to double figures with this free
throw. Wagner with eight tonight. She's been all right, but again,
maybe not the big offensive weapon thatcoach Iverson wanted throughout these first two games.
(01:46:48):
Boy, if she heats up nextweek, blue Devils can be in
real good shape and nice pass leftside reverse layup here will go. It's
well executed from Miana Peterson Henry MollyBills into the game for Stouts, She's
got the basketball along with Sam Shaper. Sixty to forty. Stout with one
forty seven a go here in thepour. Shaper across the timeline picks it
(01:47:11):
up at the elbow. Sorenson overto Bills on the right wing. Good
three point shooter is Bills, andshe can get open with Shaper on the
left wing. She's gonna go allthe way to the bucket. Goes out
to Bills. They want to gether a bucket. She tries to dribble
in from the right elbow, hasit poked away by Reaverman and stolen.
Reverman brings it forward here for theLoggers. Reverman hesitates that the left wing
now stops, pops it out.The right side of three on the way
is off the mark and the reboundfour Bills for Stout. Kayton Smith with
(01:47:35):
the miss and a whistle and Ihave a substitution timeout. Believe we will
happen. That will also take usto the final media timeout as well.

and a half hours or so downhere to Carroll University. Willie's first in
and out. Remember Willy and Stordondouble fig when these two teams met back
in November. And Oad Claire onemore for Willie and she'll get on the
(01:50:06):
score sheet. That's good. Sixtyone to forty Stout leads one oh four
to go oh into the front courthere for the longers, Andrew will drive
in in a foul called on dallI only drive from Katie Anderson. Sixty
(01:50:30):
one forty Stout with the lead, fifty four point nine to go Stout,
Oshkosh, Whitewater all ticketed for theSweet sixteen right now. To look back,
it's been a while since three andI don't know if three teams have
ever made it from the wayak intothe Sweet sixteen women's basketball. I don't
want you to do some digging. We'll let you know that one maybe next
week, and the Blue Devils willlikely be at Whitewater for the Sweet sixteen
(01:50:57):
against the number two ranked team ofthe country in Transylvania. Helisa loder Meyer
in the front court about a fivesecond deferential between shot clock and game back.
They're gonna slow it down. Loggersare gonna put some pressure on here,
but Stout's content. I think tojust dribble this one out. Bill's
at the elbow on the right side, picks up her dribble, gets it
to Willy in the corner. Maybeyou'll look at the future of Stout here
(01:51:18):
at least Dall catching at the elbowas well. Seven seconds to shoot,
the clock ticking down to ten.Loder Meyer into wil trouts. She'll throw
it out of bounds. Eight pointthree to go. The countdown is on.
Here in Waukeshaw, you can hearthe chant from the student section.
(01:51:39):
Sweet sixteen is the chant the loggersbringing across the timeline with four, with
three, the three is off Williewith the rebound. How sweet it is.
The Blue Devils keep dancing. They'llbe dancing next weekend. In the
Sweet sixteen against Transylvania's, the BlueDevils win sixty one to forty over the
Loggers. Your Devil's are cooking heretonight as they move on to the Sweet
(01:52:01):
sixteen for the first time in eighteenyears. As Stout wins this pod beating
a solid wash you team and theLoggers team that upset one of the best
teams in the country in Carovill Universitylast night. What a game, What
a weekend. And the Blue Devilsnow are just playing with house money.
(01:52:23):
They'll go next weekend, play Transylvaniaand they're gonna try to shock the world
and get to pull a big upsetthere. To keep on dance and remember
they can beat anybody. They beatOshkosh, they beat Whitewater at those two
places of course in the Wyak Tournamentby double figures. And they will celebrate.
And I'm sure that all of ourphotographers who made the trip and they're
(01:52:45):
enjoying it and they're gonna go towork right now as the team celebrates here.
We will take a break when wecome back off. Hannah Iverson hopefully

(01:54:17):
and wake Shaw, Wisconsin. TheBlue Devils move on to the Sweet sixteen
sixty one to forty over Puget Soundhere this evening, peekadoots with you Dan
Price, our producer back in studio. We're going to try to get Hanna
iverson on the air with us.We'll see if we get reg and Sorenson
maybe as well. I think CaseyParrot our sid is going to try to
track them down. The Blue Devilswin tonight and move on along with the
(01:54:38):
other two YAK teams. Both UWWhitewater and you w Oshkosh are going to
move on to the Sweet sixteen aswell. Let's give you the stats here
for tonight's game. The Blue Devilsshoot forty four percent. They go twenty
of forty five from the field andsix of seventeen from beyond the arc.
Blue levels were fifteen to twenty fiveat the free throw line. A great
(01:54:59):
mark, but enough to get thejob done certainly. Here this evening,
eighteen points for Reagan Sorenson in twelverebounds. She has her fifteenth double double
of her twenty twenty three twenty twentyfour campaign, Ada Much with twelve and
Amanda Geeson with ten as well.Amanda Geeson is within striking distance of the
thousand points scoring marks she'll need undertwenty in the Sweet sixteen game to get
(01:55:20):
to that mark when we get there, So we'll see if we can get
coach Iverson On with us here injust a moment. Again, they usually
have Puget Sound, or at leasta losing team first in the media room,
so we'll try to track her downhere in just a moment. For
Puget Sound, they shoot and scoresixteen points from Nilsen tonight, ten from
Minihan. They shoot just twenty fourpercent as a team, and three of
(01:55:43):
thirty one from beyond the arc.But I think a lot of that was
a defense from South. They defendedthe three point line very well, and
they missed some shots in Puget Sound, that's for certain. But nonetheless,
the Blue Devils did a great jobkind of figuring out ways to defend and
to really kind of get into thecraw of Puget Sound here tonight. So
the sount fans who showed up,they're celebrating the Blue Devils with their win
get to the Sweet sixteen for thefirst time since two thousand and six.
(01:56:06):
They gotta know Casey's trying to trackdown coach Iverson. They ran out and
may have asked her to go anddo some press here just real shortly,
so we'll see if I can geta text from somebody to let us know
what the situation is. But nonetheless, again, a heck of a win
here for the Blue Devils tonight. And so as we said, they will
take on Transylvania. They're undefeated. They won seventy to fifty five tonight over
(01:56:30):
Ohio Wesleyan to increase their great resume, and they will make their way to
the sweet sixteen and Whitewater with aneighty nine to sixty five win over Milliken
tonight as well as Hope beating Depauseventy to fifty five. So Hope gonna
take on Whitewater. Stout will takeon Transylvania in the Sweet sixteen. The
question will be where will that behost hosted, And there's a chance that
(01:56:55):
it will be hosted at Whitewater, not Transylvania. We'll have to find out
certainly here in a little bit.Reagan soon we'll join us here on the
post game show. How you doing, Reagan? Good? How are you
Pete? I'm great, I'm great. I think you're probably better than I
am. But yeah, but nonetheless, let's talk a little bit about what
happened tonight and and really the lasttwo nights stupple doubles on both nights.
You know, it was a toughnight last night right to kind of figure
(01:57:15):
out space. But tonight, youknow, it looked like kind of a
war of attrition out there. Youplayed, you played yesterday. Everybody's just
trying to struggle through it tonight. But early on you guys were great.
What was the key tonight? Itseemed like your defense kind of fueled it
tonight, Davin, No, Yeah, our offense didn't start off great,
but we knew that if we cancontrol what we can control on defense and
do the little things, it wouldlead to the offense, and it did.
(01:57:36):
Indeed, did you had a coupleof early shots go into from Lexi
that kind of helped, and obviouslySidney Brennan hit some early shots. When
you see those two players in particularhit early threes, does that kind of
give everybody else on the team companycompletely changes and that's a big win when
they start hitting and then it allleaves to everyone else. Do you have
any idea of kind of what's whatyou've done here? Now? You got
(01:57:58):
into the Sweet sixty team for onlythe third time and program history like this
is, this is big and youguys want to go further. I know
that, but this is you gonnakind of savor this moment a little bit
tonight for sure. Yeah, thisis a huge deal for us and we
can't be more happy. I alwaystalk about it in the summertime for baseball.
It's always more fun to be onthe bus after a win. But
I gotta imagine a win to getyou to the Sweet sixteen. That bus
is going to be rocketed that right, it will Oh my gosh, plain
(01:58:19):
ride leading to wherever or bus riderubber we're going. I hope it's a
bus ride to be out of swiftagain. There's a chance that might be
hosted by Whitewater and not Transylvania,so we'll have to see if that's the
case. But Reagan, you've hada great season as you look at it
now. I mean I talked aboutit with the coach last night. I
said, I don't think it eventonight. You guys played really well,
but I don't think you guys haveplayed your best game yet. Do you
kind of use that as a littlebit of the mentality, like, hey,
(01:58:40):
we got our ceilings even higher.Yeah it really is. But out
we had a little lull in thisgame fourth quarter, but yeah, that's
not how we play. But we'rehere and going to the Sweet sixteen,
so let's hope for us being us. All right, let's let's let's hope
it's close so I could come downthere and hang out as well. I'm
looking forward to it. Great jobtonight, great job all season, and
(01:59:01):
hey, how sweet it is you'redancing all those things? Right? All
right, Reagan star and join us. Appreciate it. Reagan for joining us
here on the postgame show as well. Not sure we're gonna get coach Iverson
with us. There's a players takingpictures and all that kind of thing.
There's likely some training staff that hasto do some wrapping and ice baths and
all that good stuff before everybody headsout of here. But I don't know
if we'll get to coach Iverson Onwith us or not. They've got press
(01:59:26):
obligations that they have to get to, so we will likely just sign it
off here with that one as well. I know Evan Hank from TV eighteen
is going to be here so youcan catch all the highlights there on TV
eighteen tonight WQOW this evening as wellas they will be. He might be
even shooting live when they get tothe news tonight and to the sports sports
(01:59:47):
part of the news as well.Well. What to win? It was
certainly the Blue Devils win it heretonight. They play just absolutely beautiful defense
to get themselves this win. Onlyallow forty points as an happen much this
season team that allows sixty points agame. And again, I mean their
defense is not what you know Stoutabout that. You know Stout is a
great offense at least from this season. Today it was all about the defense
(02:00:11):
as they absolutely shut down a verygood Puget Sound team, one of the
hotter teams in the nation. Andnow Stout an eleven game winning streak.
They got to make it fifteen, right, I mean, four more that's
all you need to win yourself anational championship. We'll see what ends up
happening. You can, of coursego to the D three hoops dot com
website. That's where you can finda lot of where the bracketing will happen.
(02:00:31):
NCAA dot com as well. We'lltry to send out on social media.
Hopefully we'll be able to travel whereverit is that we will head to
next weekend, whether that is atWhitewater at Transylvania. Those are the two
spots. But because it is over, I think it's an eleven hour driving.
The mileagees too long. Blue Devilswould have to fly to Transylvania and
there's only a certain number of flightsthat NCAA can do. And because Whitewater's
(02:00:54):
had such a great season, theymay just let Whitewater host and that'll be
interesting, certainly, especially after Stoutheat Whitewater a week ago in the semi
final around with the YAK Tournament, you get to the Whitewater Stout Elite eight
matchup to go to the final four, Oh my goodness, that jim gonna
be packed and that would be absolutelywild there as well. It got a
lot that's gotta happen to get tothat point. But boy, wouldn't that
(02:01:16):
be fun to get a YAC matchupin the Elite eight. Anytime you see
the Division one level when you seeplayers do that as well, teams do
that where they're from the same conference, Oh my gosh, you know each
other so well. Oh boy,all right, I'm getting excited about it.
I hope it happens. Nonetheless,it was great. Hey, there
it is. There's coach. Iwas just about ready to sign it off
and there as she is, rightin time, right for a good,
(02:01:36):
good old interview here, So CoachIverson will join us here on our postgame
show. There you go. Ishouldn't take your notes a notes away,
my bad. Coach Iverson is withus here on our post game coverage.
All right, first time in sincenot a gatorade bath? Isn't they get
you a gatoraye bath? Here?Give me the best and worst shower I've
ever had my life. So I'mjust taking it. But I'm gonna go
(02:01:58):
up to media looking like a roundrat. But that's all right, it's
a good one. Well you're you'reon radio tonight, so yeah, right
now, so you're okay, yeah, Esse, No, I have the
face and the hair for radio rightnow. So all right, let's talk
a little bit about this game tonight. You know, again, I'm not
sure you guys have played your bestgame all around yet, but that might
be your best game defensively, becauseholy cow, you shut them. I
(02:02:19):
know, I Puget sound missed someshots tonight, that's for sure. But
defensively, especially in that first half, talk about what the maybe not with
the show, what the plan was, but just what did you see and
what did you like? When didyou know that this defense was going to
be as good as it was?Yeah, you know, the thing for
us that has been really encouraging interms of just kind of what we're able
to do is we've switched up somethings all three games, you know,
(02:02:42):
from actually four back to the Semisto all the way to now, and
we've kind of played some different things. And that's a that's a thing that
is hard for teams to do IQwise, to be able to switch how
you're defending, where you're pushing theball, who you're switching with, who
you're coming off of. And wehave really executed what we've asked these girls
to do, and tonight was noexception. We worked really hard to keep
the ball on the side of thefloor. These guys are really good.
(02:03:02):
I'd get to the middle when theball could move quickly on the top of
the key there and we really Samand Reagan really did a good job to
start the game for us keeping theball on a side and that really kind
of set the tone. It washard to see the ball go through the
hoop for the first gosh, aboutlike thirty forty minutes of the game.
Gosh, it did feel a littlebit. We were used to scoring more
points than that, and that wasjust that was that was a tough get
(02:03:25):
for us. But that was whenit's nice to, like you said,
if you don't play your best gameoffensively, we had a phenomenal game keeping
a great Poga team to forty points. Certainly, did you know it almost
seemed like you got them frustrated becauseof the defense, right. You saw
that technical foul get picked up onReard and and usually that's a sign that
you frustrated another team. They wentscoreless I think for almost seven minutes between
what was at the end of thesecond quarter into the third quarter as well.
(02:03:46):
I mean, they were clearly frustrated. I think that maybe affected some
of their shots, why they wentonly three to thirty one from beyond the
arc. And so, you know, you can say misshots all you want,
but I think a lot of thatjust goes back to your defense and
what you did. And Puget's anamazing team. They're well coached, They're
a team that I mean, Ijust respect that staff immensely and and what
they how they coach these girls toget to this point is just phenomenal.
(02:04:10):
And we didn't see their best gameeither, just like it wasn't ours.
I mean, they are a hardworking team and that's why that's why you
can feel goodbout when they are theyreally are. I just and there and
there's there is teams like that, but there's more of the other side,
you know, where people think we'renot all out here doing the same thing
we are. We are as coaches, we are trying to get players to
do really hard things and become highquality individuals. And and this staff,
(02:04:32):
I just I can't respect it more. And I you know, I hurt
for their locker room right now becauseat some point that was us or will
be us in some capacity. Andobviously we want to be the one that
holds the whole the trophy at theend of the year. But those things
are really hard and for teams thatyou just respect it it, the wins
take a different kind of meaning toit because you see the human on the
other side, all right, Soyou know, you get to the sweet
(02:04:55):
sixteen, and this is a greataccomplishment, right first time since two thousand
and six, and then you lookat the three teams you gotta potentially face,
and that's Transylvania. Yeah, that'sWhitewater, and that's Hope, and
you basically got a who's who ofwho goes to the final four. I
mean, one of those three almostseems to be in the Final four every
year. Yeah, you've got aridiculous region to go into there. I
don't know if you're going to Transylvania. I don't know if you're going to
(02:05:15):
white Water. I think there's achance you might go to white Water because
the trip is too long to Transylvaniafrom what I hear. But I like
that. I would like that aswell. But nonetheless, I mean,
I don't know if you've seen muchof them. Obviously you've seen Whitewater,
and you maybe know a little bitabout Hope, haven't played trying and whatnot.
But Transylvania undefeated, second ranked teamin the country. I mean,
yeah, you guys have been therebefore. You have you played in the
wayac right, That's true. That'swhen you hope that everything got you ready
(02:05:39):
for those big moments. And Ithink too, like we talked about in
the last game, it's like thesemoments are just the separation between teams at
this point just get smaller and smaller, and then those those three teams that
we're in the company, we're we'rereally happy to see our logo next to
those four teams, and so usour job going into there is we're gonna
celebrate this. We're gonna feel reallygood about this for a while, and
then we're gonna hit the film.Actually, probably on the way home,
(02:06:00):
if I know myself, and justbeing able to just kind of work through
some of those and pictures options andget our team ready to go. You
put the AirPods in, because I'msure that there'll be a lot of singing
and dance and going on on thatbus ride home, right, That's right,
I might actually I might have toforehold that and just enjoy the ride
too. So that's one of thesebus rides that these long bus rides,
when they get you get they getto feel like this, they feel so
(02:06:21):
short, and that's the fun part. And you've been you've been a part
of the good ones and the badones, but this I'm sure will be
one of the one of the betterones you ever have, which these are
the ones you remember are, Yeah, And I think that's what's so cool
about experiences like this. And Caroldid a phenomenal job hosting us and just
making these experiences for these athletes somethingthat they'll remember for the rest of their
life. And you talk to anyathlete that's been through four years of college
(02:06:42):
athletics, and these bus rides homes, these are the ones you remember.
Let you go hang out with theother media, huh. Appreciate it the
more important media, all right, and I appreciate it. Thanks me,
coach iverson joining us here in ourpost game show. That'll do it.
Blue Devils make it to the Sweetsixteen. They take on Transylvania on Friday.
NCAA dot com, three Hoops dotcom. You'll find out where they
play. Of course, if you'relistening to Manami, you want to make
(02:07:02):
the trip where. Wouldn't that bea lot of fun going down to Whitewater
and go see the sites and takea trip through Madison, maybe head over
to Milwaukee, do some sight seeingand see if the Blue Doubles can make
program history. Coming up on Friday. That should be a lot of fun.
Hopefully we're on the call. Webelieve we will be. But we'll
sort out all the details and makesure we can do it, especially if
it's in Whitewater. I think we'dhave a good chance to do it as
(02:07:24):
well, all right, he specialThanks Dan Prices. Been a lot of
fun these last two days, andhopefully we can do more of this upcoming
weekend as well. For everybody here, including the athletic director doing thats,
and for coach Iverson and Reagan Sorenson, and for Casey Parrott, the sid

this week in history on iHeartRadio. This week in eighteen seventy two, President

Act of eighteen seventy two set aprecedent and popularized the idea of preserving sections
of the public domain for use aspublic parks. Congress went on to designate

dozens of other national parks, andthe idea spread to other nations around the
