Speaker 1 (00:04):
Tonight, under the brightest lights, on the grandest stage of
them all, a group of underdogs from a nominee step
into the arena, ready to defy the odds, rewrite history,
and fight for a shot at glory. Welcome to the
NCAA Division three National semi Final, where dreams are made,
(00:29):
legends are written, and only the toughest survive. The dream
is real, The dream is real. The Blue Devils are
headed to the final. Four eighty one seventy seven overspring.
Speaker 2 (00:43):
Can you believe it?
Speaker 1 (00:49):
Standing in their way the goliath of Division III basketball,
the NYU Violets, the number one team in the nation,
the defending national champions, a team that hasn't tasted to
feet in sixty straight games, A machine built for dominance,
rolling through opponents with relentless precision. They are the Monarchs
of March, the undisputed rulers of the hardwood. But tonight
(01:17):
the Blue Devils are here to challenge the throne. Uw
is Stout, the twenty second ranked team in the country,
has battled through the gauntlet to get here, proving they
belong among the best stout nation.
Speaker 3 (01:32):
Don't let them Blue Devils get a baby.
Speaker 1 (01:37):
They are the fighters the grinders, the believers. They play
with heart, with grit, with a fire that refuses to
be extinguished.
Speaker 4 (01:47):
A big part of what we do is love, and
that is a big broad statement and for a ton
of different reasons that shows through with what we do.
Like this group above all else, we love each other.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
The UW Stout Blue Devils are headed to the Final Four.
So buckle up, blue Devil faithful. The battle for the
national championship rages on, and tonight David takes his shot
at Goliath. It's UW is Stout, it's NYU. It's win
(02:22):
or go home. The moment is now, The time is here.
The road to the title runs through the Violets, and
the Blue Devils are ready. Tip Off is moments away.
Stay with us right here on your home for Blue
Devils basketball. It is indeed the Final Four. You're from Salem, Virginia.
(03:01):
We are live and we are ready to bring you
what should be an exciting matchup here between the UW
South Blue Devils at twenty three and seven overall this season,
taking on the New York University Violence at twenty nine
to zero and currently on a sixty that's right, six
zero game winning streak the defending national champions. Hello everybody
(03:23):
live from Salem, Virginia, as we get set for the
Final four. I'm Peecaoots and Dan Price is our producer
back in studio. You heard the setup. This Blue Devils
team is gritted, grinded, and figured out ways to win
in March, and for the first time in program history,
they have made the Final Four. The road has not
been easy. A win at home against Rippin as they
(03:44):
got a chance to host the opening pot the opening round,
first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament. A win
against Rippin and then a win against the number five
ranked team in the country in Whitman. They got that
surprising win. Most of the folks who write for D
three hoops dot com tional D three pundits were extremely
surprised at that victory. They went then on to Scranton
(04:05):
where they took on a familiar foe in UW. Whitewater,
a team that they'd beat two out of three times.
But the loss came just a week before that in
the YAC Tournament semi final at Stout. You thought, man,
this Whitewater team might have Stout's number, but the Blue
Devils went on to a sixty two to fifty six
win over there WIAC foe. And then against the home
(04:27):
the host team in Scranton, the team that hadn't lost
at home in thirty two straight games. The Blue Devils
gritted and grinted eighty one to seventy seven. Some last
minute heroics from Amanda Geese, including a big lay up
with about thirty seconds left, and then a big offensive
rebound on a miss free throw that earned a jump
ball and kept possession with Stout gave him a two
possession lead eventually, and they would go on to win
(04:49):
in that situation as well. An absolutely unbelievable run for
this UW Stout team in the playoffs. Should get to
this point here in Salem, Virginia, they are one of
two WIA teams that have made the Final four. Uw
Oshcot's gonna play later tonight against Smith University out of
the NESCAK, probably the second best conference in all of
(05:09):
Division three women's basketball as well up in the Northeast
there too, But this New York University team plays in
the UAA, the United Academic Athletic Association, and that conference
has basically all the D three private schools who are
known for their academics. The University of Chicago Carnegie Mellon right,
(05:29):
has a number of different teams like that Watch You
and them, And of course NYU has known for their academics,
but they're also known for their sports. They have a
team here in the final four and the women's final four.
They also have their men's team in the final four
up in Fort Wayne, Indiana. This New York team, like
we said, sixty straight wins. They were the they are
the defending national champions. They in fact have not lost
(05:52):
on a neutral court in the NCAA tournament since twenty
thirteen to twenty fourteen, back with the NCAA Tournament in
twenty fourteen, ten straight neutral court victories in the NCAA Tournament.
Coming into tonight's play, they won over Gaullia, Debt Trinity
out of Connecticut, Sunny Geneseo, and Gettysburg the host last week,
as again, Gettysburg had to host because New York's men's
(06:13):
team was hosting that Sweet sixteen lead eight round as well.
In that situation, so they have had to go on
the road and they've done a good job of it
last week and now they will try to do it
here tonight at this neutral court site in Salem, Virginia.
Stout versus New York University. This is about as big
of a contrast in terms of schools as you can get.
(06:36):
Stout a course part of the UW system. It only
costs about ten grand to go to Stout, and I
say only some folks might think that's a lot. Believe
me when you see what it cost to go to
New York University close to sixty grand a year. That's
before room and board and living situations. Therefore, New York
as well, they are a private university with a ton
of money, a big endowment. Stout has a great endowments,
(06:58):
has a great university community. Don't get me wrong, but
this is David versus Goliath because of who New York
is on the on the court, but also in terms
of their kind of prowess as a school as well,
which is kind of interesting to think about. What I
will say though, is this Stout has figured out a
way to outnumber New York. New York might have more
money in the endowment, but Stout's got more fans here
(07:19):
for sure. It's at least again a two or maybe
even a three to one fan advantage here from Roanoke
and from this beautiful, beautiful facility here in Salem, Virginia,
Salem Rowanoke area as we get set for basketball. This
should be a great one and we're happy to have
you along with us here on news SOK wm eq
AMA and eighty one oh six point three FMWMQ dot
(07:39):
com and iHeart Radio, specially thanks to all the folks
back if iHeart Radio got a few sponsors that will
you'll hear plenty of here throughout the course of this
contest too. So everybody getting things together to make this
a special opportunity for this Stout team, and man, if
they can get a win tonight, it not only would
shock the DE three world, but it gets them just
one game away from a first national championship, the only
(08:00):
actual championship team national championship that Stout has in their
history as a nineteen eighty four men's track and field
national championship there as well, so kind of in those
traditional team sports haven't had those, and they're looking for
him tonight. ESPN Plus is covering this game on the
video side for us here on the radio. We're just
happy to be here with you and know what should
bring in what should be a very exciting game here
(08:21):
between Stout and New York University. Had a chance to
talk with Hanna Iverson as part of our pregame coverage.
We will have that conversation right after the break. This
is Stout versus NYU. This is the final core right
here on your home for Blue double basketball. This is
the NCAA Tournament, right here on News Talk. Wm EQ Park.

Call Park View Community Campus of Woodville, Wisconsin. Seven point five,
(09:07):
six nine eight, twenty four to fifty one and good
luck to the women's basketball team.
Speaker 6 (09:15):
ConAgra Brands, located in menomine Wisconsin, the makers of Swiss
Miss hot Coco and Snackpack Pudding, would like to take
this time to congratulate the local basketball team on their
historic postseason run as they advanced to the College basketball Finals.
ConAgra Brands and Menominee conveys a big congratulations and the
best of luck to the coach and basketball team, and
(09:36):
they're opening game ConAgra Brands, maker of Swiss Smiths, hot
Coco and Snackpack pudding in Monominee, Wisconsin.
Speaker 1 (09:43):
Hannah Iverson now joins us as we get set for
the final force. Don't taken on, Ny, you hear this
evening from Virginia. Appreciate taking the time. Coach, congratulations on
getting here. And let's talk a little bit about last
week and just sort of this tournament in general. Right,
you guys have been I wouldn't say beating the because
I don't think you guys feel that way, but you've
been beaten some really highly ranked teams playing well. And
(10:05):
I guess we'll just start with kind of what's been
the key through the first four games for you guys
to get to this point.
Speaker 3 (10:10):
Yeah, I think you're right.
Speaker 7 (10:11):
I think we are shocking a lot of people that
don't know this team, that don't know the YAC quite frankly,
or that haven't watched us do what we do. And
I think for us, we've felt really comfortable going into
a ton of games knowing that what we do is
good enough in a lot of situations. Now, NYU is
a different breed. They're a high level basketball team. I
think if you match us up player to player, they're
(10:32):
a superior team. They're superior athleticism and all of those things.
But that's not how this game works, and that I
think works to our advantage. I think we have a
phenomenal basketball team that believes they can do anything, and
I think we have a really good product when we
get the ball rolled in the right direction. So I
think overall this has just been a testament to what
we do and how we do it. I don't think
we've changed a ton as we entered the INSTAA tournament.
(10:55):
I do think us being there last year helped us
gain a little bit of that, just since of getting
your footing and feeling comfortable in some of these moments
and having a ton of that senior leadership definitely helps
kind of call some of those nerves that the NCAA
tournament can bring.
Speaker 2 (11:09):
Well.
Speaker 1 (11:10):
I want to kind of talk about that because obviously
coming to the final four, we talked about this that
it's a special step right like in that there's a
lot more there's more media ESPN, plus doing the game
all that kind of stuff. Have you done anything special
to try to make this feel like it's just sort
of a normal game, right, a normal situation, or do
you kind of just embrace it and say it's going
(11:30):
to be a little different We'll still prep the same way,
but there's going to be a little extra to it.
Speaker 7 (11:35):
Yeah, I think there's a fine line. I think I
mentioned this to you last time. Like my hope as
the head coach of this team is that the world
makes it a big deal because it is a big deal,
Like this is a really special thing that these girls
are getting an opportunity to compete in and that they
are getting an opportunity to just live this moment.
Speaker 3 (11:51):
This is outstanding.
Speaker 7 (11:53):
And then my job as a head coach is to
shrink that view, is to make it feel like just
another game. So our prep looks the same, our looks
the same, our breakdowns look the same, our offense, our
talks on all of our packages look all the same.
And then when we go to little moments outside of it,
we are comfortable to really highlight the things that we do.
You know, I think gratitude is a big piece of it,
(12:15):
and I think if you ignore the situation, it's really
hard to find the gratitude in that, and we talk
a ton about those type of things all year long,
not just here, but so we continue to do that.
But I think the NCAA doing a good job, our
conference honestly doing a good job, our our administration just
doing a good job of highlighting of what the importance
of this moment is for our school and for these
girls is phenomenal.
Speaker 3 (12:35):
But I think we try to soak it up as.
Speaker 7 (12:37):
Much as we possible, as much as possible, and then
in the moments where we have to shrink it down
to just another game, we really focus on just what
we've done up until this point.
Speaker 1 (12:45):
Our host turn our focus here to NYU and a
couple questions about them, and we'll just kind of start
with the press, right. Obviously, they press a lot. They're
really long, so they get into passing lanes. How do
you do to prep or what do you do to
prep for a press like that? Because is it something
that feel like we haven't really seen it from any
teams that have played. And obviously they do that press
at an even higher level than anybody else would in
(13:06):
the country.
Speaker 7 (13:06):
Yeah, they do, and with a lot longer athletes and
I think, you know, I watching them on film, I
think they do a good job at everything they do.
But I think a ton of a lot of some
of the turnovers that they get to are a credit
to the name on their jersey, and that's a tribute
to what they've done. But what we're really trying to
do is keep a level ahead. And again I think
I'm hoping that's where this is where this level of
(13:28):
leadership and our experience comes in, of our ability to
just take one possession at a time and bounce back.
I mean, we can't expect not to turn the ball
over against a team like this that creates a third
of their offense out of basically pick and go scorely up,
you know, steals, and so we have to be able
to first manage our emotions there in the back court
and just be really sounded solid. We got to shortened passes,
(13:50):
we got to take care of the ball, we got
to be disciplined. And I think the other thing for
us too that I mean, Whitewater pressed in the past,
they haven't this year. So a lot of this this
roster is veterans, so they've seen some of that. Now
it's been a minute, but one of the things we
really have to do too, is once we do break
that press, we can't get caught in. You got to
get a shot right now. I think one of the
(14:11):
things that we can do is put NYU in a
position to have to guard our action, which is a
tough task. Everybody's had an issue with it all year long,
and I think we have to be disciplined enough to
take open lamps when we have them off the press break,
and if we don't have that, we got to put
them in screening action. We got to get them to
guard our five out, which has been you know, our
bread and butter for the whole year. And so putting
(14:31):
them in a situation to have to defend like that,
I think is a really focus for us too. So
take care of the ball, get it across half court,
make sound decisions, and then put them in our offense.
Speaker 1 (14:41):
When they are in their offense right when they're not
getting their offense off of those turnovers in their press.
They've got you know, the national player of the year
two times in a row now here in Natalie bruns. Well,
how do you shut her down and at least try
to limit her from a defensive standpoint.
Speaker 7 (14:56):
Yeah, she's a phenomenal player, and she's not the only
one that is high level player. And that's kind of
the hard thing. You know, Natalie, in the last five games,
I think she's averaging almost nine a sis. That's just
a tribute to how much attention she draws and her
ability to make plays out of it. You know, we
have some things situated in it. I think one of
the things for us to our physicality again, and this
(15:19):
is I think I've said this to you before every game,
but that is a piece of the Blue Devil puzzle.
Like we are a physical team. We are just this
scrappy team. We need to find possessions, find ways to
create possessions, and we are going to bank a ton
of those being on Make you make a tough shot,
don't give offensive boards, create loose ball situations, be first
to the floor, be the hardest working team, and do
(15:40):
those things that we've done all year. And Natalie is
going to get hers. I mean, you don't get those
awards for nothing. She's a phenomenal player and has had
an amazing career and she has some really nice pieces
around her. So you can't send a ton to her
because you've got four other kids on the floor that
do their job really really well. So I think we
have to be super disciplined, we got to stay follow trouble,
(16:00):
and we have to win all the extra posessions we can.
Speaker 1 (16:03):
That sounds like a good set of keys to the game.
I'll ask you this question, and I know that for you,
at least in the last few weeks, maybe months even,
you haven't had to do a whole lot of what's
your last message to the team, because your team does
it almost for you, right with the senior leadership you have.
But what do you think the last message will be
as you guys head over to the arena and get
ready to play tonight.
Speaker 7 (16:22):
Yeah, I think I mean made for the moment. I
think is a big piece of it. Like this team
is special and a ton of ways, a ton of
ways on the court, a ton of ways off the court,
But this group is made for moments like this, and
I think we saw it a ton last year with
just how fun they are to get behind, how fun
they are to be a fan of, how fun they
are to coach, and they feel the same way about
(16:43):
playing for each other. And I think this part is
just not making it bigger than it is, and understanding
and trusting in what we've done and how we've done
it to get to this point, and really believing in
the fact that we are made for this moment.
Speaker 1 (16:53):
All right, we're looking forward to It's going to be
a lot of fun. Final four and congrats again and
good luck today, speed appreciate it. That's Anna Iverson. We'll
have more right after.
Speaker 7 (17:02):
This.
Speaker 8 (17:03):
Is your landscaping looking a little shaggy?
Speaker 9 (17:06):
Well, if you sit outside all winter, you would too.
I could use a haircut, so does your landscaping. Chipwa
Valley Growers Landscape maintenance program makes your exterior cheerier.
Speaker 3 (17:17):
Now, to be clear, we don't do landscaping.
Speaker 8 (17:19):
But our maintenance maestros will supply your existing landscaping with
much needed nutrition and attention.
Speaker 9 (17:27):
Including the pruning and shaping of existing perennials, shrubs, and trees.
Speaker 8 (17:30):
We can also install rock and replace plants that are
past their prime.
Speaker 3 (17:35):
And then there's the m word mowing.
Speaker 8 (17:38):
We don't do that.
Speaker 3 (17:39):
You're right, we don't, but I'm referring to molt.
Speaker 8 (17:41):
Oh yeah, I love the smell of refreshed mulch in
the morning.
Speaker 3 (17:45):
We maintain your magnificent landscaping throughout the year.
Speaker 8 (17:48):
So if you don't have time to keep up with
your landscaping.
Speaker 9 (17:52):
If you're physically unable, if you don't know how, or
if you just don't want to chipwa.
Speaker 8 (17:56):
Valley Growers Landscape Maintenance program does it for you?
Speaker 9 (18:00):
Oh, Allygrowers dot Com and John Yeah Jess, get a haircut.
Speaker 1 (18:08):

Stay with us right here on your home for Blue

(20:56):
Air between Stout and NYU. You can hear the Stouth
fans already starting to make some noise here from this beautiful,
beautiful facility on the campus of Roanoke College here in Salem, Virginia.
The Rodoke Maroon's logo at mid court. And we are
ready here at the Kragers Center for Basketball, just about
(21:16):
five minutes away from the announcement of the starting lineups
and much much more. You heard from coach iverson as
to where we are at and how we are at
as we get into this game. And one of the
big keys, as you heard her talk, was about the
New York University press. They press and they turn teams
over at a very very high clip this season. In fact,
they have the best assist to turnover ratio in the league,
(21:40):
in the second best in the country coming in to
this evening's play. One point six are on the assist
to turnover they assist on twenty one assist twenty one
field goals per game is what they typically assist on.
They turn teams over at an alarming rate twenty four
point eight turnovers per game that they force, which is
tenth in the nation. Twenty six turnovers per game in
(22:03):
the four games they played here in the NCAA Tournament,
which is just third in the NCAA Tournament, which is
kind of a wild stat there as well, but of
course that factors in you know, one game that played
you know, with a core team in the first round
as well, but nonetheless, very very good. They're one of
the best scoring teams in the nation eighty eight points
per game. They shoot shoot field goal percentage of fifty
point eight percent per game that is first in the
(22:24):
nation as well. They're all around great and as we
talked about, Natalie Bruns, the now two team, two time
defending WBCA with Women's Basketball Coaches Association Player of the Year.
She received that award last night at the banquet that
these teams had before they play here today in Downtown,
(22:44):
rowing them and Natalie Bruns is amazing a grad student
from Saint Louis, seventy first in the country though in
scoring in seventeen point three points per game fifty seven
point nine percent is what she shoots with is twelve
in the country as well. She's eight in the country
in blocks per game scanning at six foot one a
tenth in the country, and assist a turnover ratio and
(23:07):
eleventh in the country in assists per game as well.
Pretty impressive numbers for her coming into this game. New
York University taking the court. Stouts already out there, ready
to go here from Roanoak and from Salem, Virginia. I'll
figure out which one to say we're in. We're officially
in Salem, but it's Roanoke College in Roanoke on the
court here as well, So we'll figure that all out
(23:29):
as we get down to brass tax here from Virginia. Again.
A special thanks to our sponsors and a Dan price
beck in studio for making it happen here on Newstalk
wm EQ AMA and any one of six point three
FMMWMQ dot com and iHeartRadio.
Speaker 2 (23:44):
Again.
Speaker 1 (23:45):
This game is being broadcast on ESPN Plus and so
that is also adding a lot of pomp and circumstances.
Cameras everywhere, and just excitement everywhere here from Roanoke College.
All right, let's give you the starting lineups for tonight's game.
The number twenty two ranks out Blue Devils, making their
first appearance in the Final Four and under the tutelage
(24:07):
of Hanna Iverson in her seventh season. The oat player
North Graduate and UW Green Bay standout while she played
there is one, twelve and sixty one. In her seventh
season at the Helm of the Blue Devils, it'll be
Sam Shafer to start. She is a senior from Divores.
A guard at five foot nine. She has five blocks
during this tournament, which is ninth out of any player
(24:28):
in the tournament. Thirteen assists as well in the tournament,
which is seven the teams have played in the NCAA
tournament this season. She's also third in the country and
assistant turnover ratio at two point seven per game. Amanda
Geeseon is a senior from New Prag, Minnesota. She's a
five to eleven forward and in this tournament has ten assists,
which is seventeenth of all the players in the tournament.
(24:48):
Reagan Sorensen got All American honorable mention from the WBCA
earlier last night. I should say she is the All
American on this team for the Blue Devils. Seventeen point
nine points a game and much a eight senior from
Apple Valley, Minnesota, third team All Region this year as well,
and seventy points in the tournament puts her third in
the tournament. Reagan Sornson, actually, with ninety eight points in
(25:09):
this tournament is first in the tournament with the most
point score of anybody. Lexi Wagner is the final starter
from get the transfer from Youngstown State and Mercy Hurst.
Third in the country and three point percentage coming into
tonight's play. The New York University Violets are led by
Meg Barber's seventh season one twenty one. They have won
sixty games in a row. They're twenty nine to zero
(25:31):
this season. Bell Palekola is the starter senior point guard
from Medlam, New Jersey. A number of honors for her
that we'll talk about throughout the course of this game.
Caroline Pepper is a six foot junior. She'll start from
Southeastern Southeaston, Massachusetts. Another rookie of the Year from the
uaa couple seasons ago. Jamie Bahar is a six foot
(25:53):
one grand student from Otionside, New York. A Lehigh transfer
from Division one who played ninety six career games. Are
in his finished out her grad season, her last season
of eligibility here at NYU. Brook Bachelor is a starter
of five ten Somomorngar from Oakden, Virginia, and Natalie Bruns
the back to back Player of the Year from the
WBCA National Player of the Year, a grand student from
(26:15):
Saint Louis, Missouri, six foot one, accolades all over the
place for her. As a horn is sound all we
filing it to place of basketball here from Salem, Virginia.
The lights have gone down. We'll hear the national anthem
in just a moment and the announcement of the starting lineup.
So unfortunately don't have a feed into the PA, but
we'll see quite a bit of pomp and circumstance here
(26:38):
tonight from Roanoke College and from Salem PERTONO. There's a
stop Luodobs being announced. You can hear the announcement and
the fans who are here tonight, and they will make
a lot of noise because they have made the sixteen
hour drive. Some have flown here to Salem, Virginia, and
a good chunk of New York University fans with stout
dwarf from at least two to one here today and
(27:00):
here comes a national anthem com saying.
Speaker 11 (27:04):

If that doesn't get you going, I don't know what. Well,
NYU versus stop coming up. Holy cow, this is gonna
be a good one. You are listening to it. The

(30:00):
played highlights of both New York and its stout as
the bracket graphic goes off here as well, and are
really well done here by the video teams for both
for the NCAA and for ESPN. As these teams have
had to come a long way. Four games might not
sound sound like a lot when you just say it,
but all the miles traveled, all the things you gotta
(30:23):
do to get to this point. It is a lot
of work, a lot of determination, and that is why
you cannot let if you're stout, let NYU run away
with this as many into the visit three world think
they will. You gotta make him heard it night video
done we're ready for the starting lineups here tonight and
(30:44):
again Pelechia, Pepper Bejart, bachelor in Bruns for New York
Shaper Geese and swords and munching lang. They're fir stout
double's being introduced first here tonight, parton me. They will
(31:09):
introduce everybody one way and the other back and forth.
New York fans sit across from our broadcast spot where
you just st up on the concourse here a little
ways away, but a nice perch from our broadcast spot.
The former players who have made the track air first out,
and there's a couple of former women's basketball players and
(31:31):
men's basketball players that kind of worked a little bit
of a i'd say a midship students section on the
section across from us as well two rows of former
and current students that include Lizzie Olsa, Amber Fabac, Peyton Teams,
a couple of graduates. There is the All American Reagan
(31:52):
Souranson has introduced Reagan Sourans and hurt in her second
game of the season this year and any go injury
that kept her sideline from the majority of the non
conference season, and she got back through it and she
has played offening well, and one of the storylines tonight
will be Reagan Sorenson, who is just thirteen points away
(32:15):
from time and fourteen points away from setting the all
time scoring record in Stout history. Julia Hersing holds a
record in one thousand, seven hundred and forty eight points.
Reagan Sorenson stands at one thousand, seven hundred and thirty
five coming into tonight's play, one more introduction for both sides.
(32:39):
Lexie Wragner gets the last hurrah there for the Blue
Devils and it will be the National Player of the
Year Natalie Brunts who will get the HI five here
for NYU. A Form D one player for Stout and
an all around great athlete and Divisi three player for NYU.
(33:02):
Hit the fifth stumps at mood Fort Stout and NYU
Ready to go. Your officials for tonight's game Maggie de Waal,
Ryan Nunyaz and Kristen Santos. The alternate official is Flora Isabelle.
(33:26):
She sits at the table. There are multiple angles to
review if a review is necessary here today as well
with ESPN broadcasting, so we will keep you up to
date on whether that happens or not. Stout is the
road team for today. They are in the traveling blue
uniforms with the white stout across the chests, white and
blue trim, a little bit of gray dashed in there
(33:47):
as well. New York University is the home team. They
have gray uniforms and the purple violet collar down the side,
along with some white accents there as well, purple numbers
unlined in white. They are tall, they are long, they press,
and they are very very good. For the first time
in program history, Stout is in the final four. Can
they do something with it? Can they make something of it?
(34:10):
How about that? Natalie Bruns versus Reagan Sorens and to
all Americans said, take the tip for both teams. Here
from Salem, Virginia, we're writing for basketball. We hope you
are as well. Back in Menominee and Western Wisconsin. Man,
here comes a noise. The ball is tip to New
York University. Wins it, and they will set up the
(34:31):
half court offense as they move right to left. As
you listen to him at home from our broadcast position, Poleekia,
we give it up top here for Bahar Bayhart looking
off on the high wide left side for pepper. They
go inside to Bruns. Bruns catches guarded by Sorenson, drives
into the block, tries to lay it off on the
right block. Good job by Schaffer to pick it up.
They kick it out for a three instead stepping in
for a two and missing the shot. There is pepper,
(34:52):
but it will be rebounded by Bachelor and they'll keep
it alive. Here for Nyu, Bruns goes in nice pass
inside Bada shot though in Manageeson gets the Lena up
the mist from Bachelor deeson up to much in transition.
Much hesitates going into the post block.
Speaker 2 (35:06):
Dotter air By runs and.
Speaker 1 (35:08):
There's the long wins span from the national player of
the year, and she gets one of those blocks. She
gets about five a game and it's stop all out
of bounds twenty three to shooting nine to twenty two
left first quarter. Reagan sorens and catches and Bruns will
defend her as we thought she might. Fade away shot
to start and it rolls in five but seven let
me lay and she hits. It's two zip stout fifty
(35:32):
seconds into the night's game, runs up on the right
wing here for Bachelor, switches it up top to Pepper
between the rings and now for Bruns at the left,
Devil want a step there with the left hand. Tough scoop,
No but a fowl on Sorenson, and that is a
tough call on Sorenson. Just a minute and one second
into the game, and they're gonna have to get Reagan's
Sorenson out of there with her one foul runs to
(35:57):
the line and as you might imagine, right around in
a percent free throw shooter on the season, the national
player of the year and her first free throw is
no good. Okay, okay to zip pier Stout runs with
(36:18):
one more and that is way off. That looked terrible
out of a hand. It's tipped out of bounds behind
from Batchelor. The style basketball. There is a size mismatch
here tonight for sure. Everybody for New York is long.
Here comes the press and it will be Shaper just
letting Batcheler kind of rider.
Speaker 2 (36:33):
Oh want to.
Speaker 1 (36:33):
Pass the sword since she'll go up and she'll score it.
Ford if nothing Blue Devils with the early league. Stout
didn't get back though, Pepper with the three from the wings,
short long rebound rolling out. That's not basketball. Yes, it
is last touch by Poleechia. Blue Devils have it in
front of our own events four nothing Blue Devils here
early good start per Stout Oho of three to start
(36:56):
here for New York Shaper to Geeson. They break the
press pretty easily. Eson. Now for Shaper on the high
wide right side, skipping across to Much on the left
corner ball Bay from three up to Wagner for three.
She'll drive switches off to Sorenson a two from the
right short corner. It rattles off Man. It's rebounded here
by New York University, and I'll foul call. Oh it's
on Sorenson. Oh no, it's her second.
Speaker 11 (37:17):
Oh no.
Speaker 1 (37:19):
And Sorenson has picked up two fouls in the first
minute thirty four, and that is gonna change the complexion
of this game. Sure, oh four to nothing Stout, but
they would trade that lead for Sorenson to not have
two fouls. It'll be Rosello Willie who sums in for
(37:43):
And here comes Paleckia off on the right wing, guarded
Bayanna much. You gotta stay the course here back door cut.
The reverse goes in a nice cut there from Bachelor
from the baseline. Eston needs some help and she'll go
to Wagner, but it's kept stoning and the layup ghost
Air is the press lucky it gets it just like
Wagner and Geson gotta break it here. Geeson will stop.
(38:05):
Geson gets it across to Willie really over for aandam
mutch four for our game. Seven to fifty three left
here in the first quarter. Here's Shafer. I think Stout's
got a little bit of a feeling for what they're
gonna run here. Anna much hooking around the defender, gets
it into Geese in the corner, up to Wagner in
the left wing. Wagner drives and takes the two and
it rattles out. Oh that's a tough rim right there.
As it bounces out, they'll try to get a transition
(38:27):
bucket up to Bruns. She's fouled by Shaper and then'll
go six to four pilots and a free prob coming
for runs with seven thirty four to go in the
first quarter. Tough start for the Blue Devils. Three fouls
two on Sorenson and the foul being called there on Shaffer.
(38:52):
That will send runs to the line to try to
complete the three point play. Don't think she'll miss this time.
And she does seven to four. Violet's lead it. Here
comes a press, Shafer picks it up. Pison don't want
to dribble into a dangerous spot. Gieseon just takes some contact,
gets it across the timeline. You're gonna take it herself.
The school play up is not there, as Behar gave
(39:13):
their defense in the transition. Try seven to four here
in New York. Tough shot off the glass the other way.
No good from Plekia this time. They finally don't call
a foul. Much into the front court, gonna slow things down.
She calls out the offense. Stout can score without Sorens,
and they prove that when she was injured earlier this year.
How about a Shaffer three that rolls off from the
left wing and it's rebounded here by bachelor. Bachelor up
(39:33):
to Bruns. Bruns almost traveled with it. Shaper defense, Shafer
Stout's best defender. Here's a right wing three that is
an airball and that is out of bounds to Stout
seven to four, Violet six fifty four left to go
here in the first quarter, and we will not see
Reagan Sorenson until at least the second quarter. Hanna much
(39:53):
catching here out of the inbound man a geese gonna
bring it up here for Stout. You don't break the
press pretty easily there, takes it to the lane, kicks
it out to much. She's on the wing open, but
won't take the three Panna much. Looks inside for a
cut from Wagner, can't find her. They'll go to the
left corner to Geeson. Geesen into Willie at the left
block ball bak that's a foal, gotta call it runs,
(40:14):
gets fled for the foul. The ball bak got her
in the air, makes the contact and Rosella Willie will
head to the line here for two free throws and
Bruns picks up her first. Let's see if Meg Barber
rolls with the player of the year and keeps her in.
She's trying to say that Willy hooked her. She did,
but I didn't think there was a lot of displacement.
(40:34):
There is a free throw rots in for Rosella Willie.
Rosella Willie will be a starter next year as well.
She's a junior from Canna Falls, Minnesota, and she's been
a very very good calmbing present off the bench for Stout.
She made the first may the second as well makee
a seven to sixth New York University lead six point
thirty to go. Here in this first quarter, Poleecia across
(40:56):
the timeline, weaves it off on the left wing for Pepper,
off the Bruns on the right wing, top to Bahar
Bayhar now switches in the corner to Palakia, back up
top to Bayhart Bahart looking for the back door cuts.
She'll switch it in the corner to Bachelor. Bacheler tries
to drive on Wagner stops, pulls up for two. That'll
roll off anam Much gets the rebound stout down one,
but with the basketball they will not press off of
a misshot Anna Much hesitates on the right wing, gives
(41:20):
it to Geeson in the corner. She's kind of out
of sorts. There was much. Geson will dribble out to Willie.
Willie over to Shaffer on the left side. Shaffer looking
for Geeson. You're gonna have to dribble it herself. As
they deny her the ball. Geson stops now. Shaffer moves
it right wing for much Much, puts it on the deck,
drives in on Brunze ball fake there looking for the
fadaway balls yet under move clad. If you missed the
bucket there, it rolls off seven to six Nyu should
(41:44):
have been a bucket for much a good transition. It's
up the other way for Palkia. She scores and it's
nine to six violence much across the timeline for geeseon.
Geson crosses over geeseon to the hoop, little hesitation step
the lay up yard and it's nine to eight Nyu.
Pleki across the timeline. Here five nineteen to go in
(42:06):
the first runs at the top of the key, moves
it off of a high left wing. Here for Pepper
between the circles, it's bachelor. Now for Bruns runs inside.
Oh they call a foul. Oh my goodness. Behar was
trying to get open and then she kind of faked
like Geeson was grabbing her. She was not, And that
is a terrible foul call. Amanda, geeseon call with five
(42:28):
h nine to go on the quarter, and that is
a fourth foul on Stout. So after this point in
this first quarter, New York's gonna be shooting free throws
the rest of the way. Here's Pilecki up inbounds right
in the left short corner moving around the bronze. Good
place up here, catch down there by Pepper and the
layup goes. As Mary Berg has checked into the game.
(42:50):
The freshman drum nominate shaper Willie really going to take
it across ear Stunt's got five players that can handle
the basketball here as Geeson is out on the right wing,
gives it to Anna much guarda by Bachelor much So
that's got to be a foul. Reach in foul there
on Bachelor. But you can complain all you want. But
the way they pound it at the other end, and
so far the officials call them in tight. We're gonna
(43:13):
call that fowel every time. Eleven to eight n YU
with the lead. That foul will lead us to our
first media time out. Forty seven left to go. First
quarter A tough one here so far as Reagan Sorensen
has two fouls. Will see how Stout adjusts here at
this media timeout when we come back on your home
for Blue double basketball. This is the NCAA tournament right
(43:35):
here on News Talk. The w m e Q.
Speaker 5 (43:39):
Parkview Community Campus is committed in its efforts by providing.
Speaker 1 (43:43):
An integrated long term care campus to.
Speaker 5 (43:45):
The surrounding area and digressively delivering the highest quality of
care to their five facilities. They are receptive to the
needs and concerns of their staff, residents, tenants, family members, children,
and the community. Call Park View Community Campus of Woodville, Wisconsin.
Seven to one, five, six, nine, eight, twenty four to
fifty one, and good luck to the women's basketball team.
Speaker 1 (44:11):
Now back to the NCUBLEA Tournament right here on News
Talk wm EQ. Now welcome back into the Craigers Center.
It's the final four stout versus NYU and an eleven
eight lead for of the NYU Violets over Stout as
we go to the first media timeout. A total of
four points for Reagan Sorenson in this game. On the
(44:33):
other side, four for Pleecia any Bruns just with three
so far and one of three at the three throw
line for this NYU squad, blude so sharp far a
three of nine from the field shooting thirty three percent,
two of two at the line and NYU forty five
percent from the field and thirty three percent at the line.
(44:54):
They are zero of two from beyond the arc sound
oh of one. We have not seen Lexi Wagner really
get open for her three point shot. Lexee Wagner one
of the stories here. Coming in she is shooting eight
of twenty four in the NCAA tournament, and I actually,
as I looked at that stat, I was a little surprised.
I thought at thirty three percent, I thought it was
actually worse because she has struggled in the NCAA tournament
(45:14):
to get her shot off. Coming in to the tournament,
she was shooting forty six percent from beyond the arc.
That's third in the whole nation in that category. She
has struggled from three and that's because, I mean, the
scout is out at this point right. Teams not to
take her away, but typically Reagan Sorens and Anna Much
and Amanda Geeson, you know, they can kind of add
to it. They can figure out a way to kind of,
you know, show her up. If Lexi Wagner is being
(45:35):
taken out of the game. The problem that Sound has
now is Reagan Sorens have picked up two fouls with
them the first minute and a half of this game,
and she's gonna be on the bench at least for
the rest of this fourth quarter, first quarter, excuse me,
and maybe for a good chunk of the second as well.
We're gonna have to see when han ivers who wants
to roll the dice and get her back in there,
and we'll have to see. It's gonna be interesting here
tonight again. The second game tonight is Smith versus UW
(45:59):
ash Hashkosh. Fans starting to show up and they will
go on some Blue Devil gear I think, or at
least the Blue Devil chance, because the two UW schools
here from Lowayac have been really kind of pulling for
each other and it's been fun to watch down here
in Salem, Virginia. Both teams getting a chance to come
here to the final core all right out of the
timeout and Stout will have the basketball after a foul
(46:22):
called on. NYU officials have called it tight early on.
I think it's one of those where if you call
it tight early and you back off a little bit
as an official, I think most teams are okay with that.
You just don't want to see them call bad bowels
late and hopefully that won't be the case. Shaper needs
some help. She'll get the inbound there to Anna Munch
seventeen to shoot, guarded by Batcheler on the high left
(46:44):
man de Geeson over to shape, trying to step into
those passing lanes. There are the violence Willy here in
the corner. With nine to shoot on the right side,
it's too much much right side of the lane. Balth
Bake fadeaway two cos Anamm scores it makes it an
eleven ten NYU lead here over Out four twenty five
to go. First quarter, Nyu across the timeline. Plekia Offer
(47:06):
Batcher on the right wing, now switches up top to
Bayhart runs catches inside She's double team. Now they lay
off her little fatal in the lane. That'll go over
Tapas shaper and it's a thirteen ten lean here for
Nyu Ana much receives embound. They will press here, will
Nyu get it back to Geeson and Geeson will take
it across the timeline as runs will apply pressure runs
(47:27):
the pardon me Geeson rather trying to hand off too much,
and it's last touched by Nyu right in front of
the NYU sharing section in parents section. They didn't like
the call, but Stout will maintain possession. With eighteen to shooting,
three fifty four left to go here in this first quarter,
Lexie Wagner trying to get back into the game and
shoot will Rosello, Willie. I had a look on Reagan
(47:48):
Sorens his face on the bench. It's just get like
I want to get back in. They're so bad. Coach
Shaper inbounds too much on the left wing. Much gets
a screen from Mary Bird, picks up the dribble, switches
it back to Geeson on the left side. Eson goes
up top to Wagner, trying to find space to shoot.
Can't find it. You gotta get a shot off here.
Subbing a shoot. Samanda geson from the top ball Fache.
She will drive on Bruns to the hoop. Couldn't take
(48:10):
the contact and he she'll score it. Thirteen to twelve, Nyu,
Brun's taken out of that great action. There By stout
to get Bruns out of position so that she couldn't
make a block inside. Bachelor on the left wing. Now
up top for Pepper. Pepper hands off to Bruns. Bruns
goes inside, good catch down there by Bachelor. They double
team her and jump ball. No, they didn't get the
tie up. It's out to Pallechia or twelve to shoot.
(48:31):
Brun's gonna try to drive on Wagner crosses over spins
at the free throw line. Keeson helps out kick in
the corner. Bachelor open for a three, no good, and
then rebound. Somebody's got a grab it. Wagner will oh
my goodness. Wagner then has it stolen away and they'll
drive the other way and score a Plechia all up
in her business fifteen to twelve violence and the Geeseon
(48:52):
gonna take it across the timeline. Here Bruns will defend
a hand off to Mary berg Berg looking to find
Wagner can't find. She'll dribble it now between the circles
right at the top. And now for Amanda Geese looking
for the return pass, can't find it, she'll take a
free instead that is short, and Anna Much had position
there for the rebound, tries to save it and it
will be last touched by Anna Much and on the
(49:13):
NYU ball on the bounds. NYU Cook teens out twelve
two thirty seven to go here in the first quarter.
Believe that's a first sub of the game for NYU.
Etan Williamson, the sophomore from Washington, Pennsylvania. We'll check in
transfer from Trinity. There's a dribble drive left side here
(49:36):
for Pleckia off on the right corner out of Bacheler,
she drives to the right block back out to Bronze
on the high right side. On a bad pass, she'll
drive in on shape or up top. Another three on
the way. That one is off the side, no from Pepper,
but it's tracked down on the corner by the newcomer
Williamson for another offensive rebound. Anna Much was there, and
a charge is Paul. Anna Much with great positioning and
(49:56):
a charge Paul on a push off there by Pepper
her verse foul. And I think that's one where the
officials kind of anticipated that realized Anna Much couldn't be
called for a foul there, and they had to college
Art really gonna check back in Sorenson. The only non
starter or the only starter not in the game, I
should say, is Willie's back into the ball game. Stout
(50:20):
inbound here to Anna Mutch. She's guarded my bachelor. She
tries to get her across the timeline. Gotta go two
minutes up to play in the quarter and it's NYU
fifteen Stout twelve. Anna Much on the left wing. We're
gonna call out a play. Want shaper to help her
out so she'll get it to her, and they got
Anna Mutch for a bump there as she handed it
off to shape her and an offensive foul call fifth
(50:45):
foul on Stout. But it's an offensive ones and break
throws there for i Yu twelve to pardon me, fifteen
to twelve the Nyu with the lead and are we
talking about over to the table here to talk about something?
It was on Anna Mutch Pretty clear unless there's a
timing issue here, but that would be the only question
(51:06):
I think they would have. You got to talk to
the alternate officials or Isabelle about what should happen again.
The only thing I can think is that this is
a clock issue, but should be fine. A fifteen to
twelve league here for Nyuyu first, so they foul. The
(51:32):
last ball on Nyu is actually on Pepper, so it
was a last ball. They got the wrong person reported.
I think they've got it all sorted out. Now, Pepper
with the basketball here, she moves off on the right wing,
a hand off, the bachelor bachelor picks it up there,
almost traveled. Now Pepper going to try to drive baseline,
passes it out deflected to Pilechia. Now they're rolling out
to Williamson burns a. Brun's rather going to step into
a three from the top and she'll hit it. That's
the first meet prix of the game. Eighteen to twelve
(51:54):
NYU Wagner long pass across the timeline up to Rosella,
will and Willi will slow things down on the left wing.
Six point NYU lead their biggest of the game. Wagner
goes in, misses the left handed layup around Pepper on
a great play set up there. She just missed Bruns
the other way up on Berg poked away by Willie
out of bounds. It'll stay with NYU on the baseline.
(52:15):
Eighteen twelve NYU leads, so if o Bruns with eight
points and Stout's gonna get a listen Lodermeyer back in
and that'll get a nice round of a flaw. She
was hurt last week, gave it a go in that
game against Whitewater, only played a few minutes and then
could not play against Scranton. But she gets in there
(52:35):
and should hopefully provide a nice spark off the bench
for Stouth. Off in the right Pepper guarded by Willie,
all up in her business there. Six point NYU lead
Pepper off in the corner for Polechia. Polekia trying to
drive on Geeson back out to Pepper. Couldn't handle the pass.
Now she'll drive all the way to the hoop. Tough play,
no good offensive board once again for NYU. Bachelor gets it,
dribbles out to the left wing into the corner to Williamson.
(52:57):
Williamson up top here for Polechia. Forty three seconds remain
in this first quarter in NYU by six, Poleechia drives,
kicks it to Williamson on the left wing behind the back, Dribble,
loses it, gets it back Pileckia steps into a left
wing three. That's an airball. It rolls off. Gonna be
south basketball thirty one point nine to go, and here
in this first quarter, Staunch just needs a bucket here
(53:17):
to keep it close. I mean it is close now,
but I'd like to see him to score a bucket
here before the end of the quarter. Wagner gonna check
back in or Mary byrd. NYU gonna try to dial
up the pressure once again. Lodermeyer trying to get open
but can't. She'll get it to Wagner here will Geeson
(53:40):
and Wagner will bring it up with Pepper providing a
little bit of pressure as a back off Wagner across
a timeline. Hi pressure here from Nyu. Wagner all threw
it away, threw it right to the hands of Pleechia.
Pialechia with a breakaway, she'll get the layup twenty to twelve.
Nyu will a bad pass. He threw it to Bruns.
Are you kidding me? Runs the other way, she'll miss it. No,
(54:02):
but a foul is called on Wagon. Wager stepped in
and gets called for the foul. That's her verse and
with seven point one left the play here in the
first quarter. This is how Nyu beats you. Late runs
in these situations. You know it's not on a hand
here by any meant by any means. Nyu on a
(54:24):
seven zero run over the last two fifty seven and
Stout on a scoring draft of three minutes and thirty
five seconds. They've also turned the ball over four times
in the last three thirty five. As that free throw
goes from Bruns. But you know this is a final
four and even though Soornson has two fouls, you might
consider getting her back in there. Is that free throw
is good from bruns. She makes them both. I'm gonna
(54:46):
quick look here at Sarah Alexander, the freshman from southeast
in Massachusetts Stout to inbound here seven seconds left in
the quarter. He isn't gonna take it across the timeline.
You're gonna take it all the way to the oh
the layup, we'll roll up in a late boun call
with point two left here in the quarter, bound called
(55:06):
on Williamson. That'll send geeseon to the line and try
to cut into this ten point lead. You can tell
y Nyu is so good, just so long, and just tough,
I mean really tough to figure out Gieson at the line.
(55:28):
Free throw rattles in man of Geeson, the sixth all
time scorer in Stout history, one three hundred and nineteen
points coming into the game. Geeson made one, she missed
the second. Lodermer almost had the rebound, his bodies go crashing.
No foul called. And that is the end of the
first quarter. So it's NYU twenty two Stout thirteen. Not
(55:51):
a great start for Stout. Will see if Megan figure
out a way to go on a run here when
we come back at the start of the second quarter,
You're on your home for Blue double basketball. This is

Speaker 1 (56:39):
Now back to the NCED Double A Tournament right here
on News Talk wme EQ. It is the NCAA Tournament
and it is here on Newsack wm MEQU. A special
thanks Sadan Price into all of our sponsors and all
the people that made it happen. Ober at iHeartRadio here
to bring you this game live from Salem, Virginia. It
is a twenty two to thirteen lead for NYU at
(57:02):
the end of one stout shot just five of thirteen
in that first quarter thirty eight percent. Again, They're about
a forty six percent shooting team on the season, oho
of two from beyond the arc, three of four at
the line for the Blue Devils. It was nine of
nineteen shooting for NYU and forty seven percent. They're one
of six from beyond the arc. Natley Bruns hitting the
(57:23):
only three of that first quarter for NYU. They were
three of five at the line as well. Bruns has
ten points, Amanda Geeson has five, and the Blue Devils
trying to figure out a way to get back into
this game. With Reagan Sorenson picking up two fouls in
the first minute and a half of the contest, that
is the difference right now, at least from my perspective.
(57:48):
Four runs in that first quarter. She was three of
three from the field, including that three pointer, and three
of five at the line as well. She also had
two rebounds. Bachelor has five rebounds to go with that
as well. As you look at the splits here in
the split box that Stout was out rebounded in that
first quarter just eleven to nine. The past break points
(58:12):
were thirteen to three in favor of NYU and sixteen
to six. They outscored Stout in points in the pain
as well. So it's kind of what you'd expect with
the way NYU plays. The thing about it is Stout
actually look pretty good to start. Then they got a
little out of sorts. A couple of bad passes in
those turnovers are what killed them. They only turned it
over eight times against Scranton this past Saturday. They have
(58:34):
turned it over five times in the first quarter of
this game. So both teams still talking here. We got
the longer extended timeouts here as this game is of
course on ESPN Plus, and so the longer TV timeouts
give us a little bit more time to talk here
as well. So one of the aga I've been talking
about the storylines, we're looking to see if Ray and
(58:55):
Swords and can become the all time leading scorer in
Stout program history tonight needs fourteen points to do it.
She's already got four. But she's been on the bench,
and I do not think she's coming back in here
to start this quarter. No fun run. She's coming out
two fouls four and she's back on the court. No
(59:16):
Wagner will be Willy instead, And so Reagan Sorenson's gotta
be careful here in the second quarter. Does not want
to pick up her third mandon geeseon will inbound here
to Sorenson and Sorenson will handle it. Natalie Bruns is
the first player right on her Hey that man to
(59:37):
man defense goes to Geeson up on the left wing,
back to Sorenson. Sorenson, wanting to drive, gets around the
initial defender and then it's blocked by Bruns inside on
the help. She came out of nowhere to get that block,
runs crossing over the other way. Tough left handed scoop.
No good there, Anna Much with the rebound, Anna Much
rolls it out to Willie and Reillly gonna try to
push the pace really across the timeline. Gives it over
(59:58):
Anna Much. Now she moves off on the left, trying
to post up Sorenson inside. Instead, they'll have to go
to Geese and at the top high low for Sorenson
couldn't catch it and it's out of bounds to Nyu.
Twenty two thirteen. N Yu at the lead and we
are thirty four seconds in the second quarter. Nyu basketball, Plucky,
(01:00:19):
you'll bring it across Luckia U's off on the right,
animatech defends Palukia backs it back out, goes to Pepper
at the top. Ball fake from three dribbles into the
left elbow. Now they move it up top. Sorenson switches
up again, trying to make sure she doesn't pick up
that fourth foul into the corner to Pepper. She pops
a three. It's in and out rebound Rosella Willy here
(01:00:41):
for the blue doubles. Willie pushes it off for Shaper
as they provide pressure right away. Skip it up here
across the Sorenson and she'll receive on the high left
side on the attacking front court. Sorenson crosses over, goes
to the hoof Bronz on the block man She is
good and long up becomes of Pepper. In transition they
try to score. It's gonna be Pileckia all the way
to the hoop left handed, scoop yes around everybody twenty
(01:01:03):
four or thirteen violence in Stout and Soworrington driving to
the hoop is not gonna work here. They're gonna need
a little more than that Anna much. How about her
going to the hoop? It takes contact, don't pall and
Bruns gets the rebound, runs has it for Pepper. Pepper
across the timeline, gonna hand off here to Poleckia, runs
(01:01:23):
dribbles right, stops, moves left now for Poleckia on the wing.
Pollechia gets a screen for Bruns, a screen en roll
to go a lefter to Pepper instead takes a three
in and out long rebound. It's a man of geeseon
who rips away for the blue doves, and they get
pressure right away and they throw it away. Oh my goodness,
where NYU makes you do some dumb things, don't they?
(01:01:44):
It's the link that is in person watching the link
is just out of this world. I mean, they've got
players on their team that have arms that don't end,
it seems like, and just fill up every passing lane
and throw you off. Stout's got to make some adjustments.
NYU twenty four Stout thirteen seven fifty seven Ago in
the second runs into the post. Keeson helps out. They
(01:02:05):
gotta go in the corner to Polekia. Polekia drives in
all the way to the hoop and scores twenty six
thirteen NYU Shafer across it. No, can't get it across
the timeline. You'll go to Geese Gison will take it
across mid court. She drives left side, picks up the
dribble double team out to Shaper. Shaper to the right
wing to Much. Now this is what Stout wants to
set up that hopcut offense much to the free throw line.
(01:02:27):
Much crosses over out to Shaffer, Schaffer on the wing,
to Willie on the wing. Now eleven is Shoe Sorenson
in the corner. Sorenson trying to drive, takes contact, turn
around tough two oh on a plane, and Sorenson scorers.
It's twenty six fifteen NYU quickly across the timeline. Bachelor
off in the left wing, not Polekia Pelekia trying to
(01:02:48):
post up runs inside. They help out as a front.
The post doesn't matter. She scores it anyway. Keason try
to get there in the help side and she could
not get to steal. Twenty eight to fifteen. NYU seven
minutes up to play in the quder timeout stop. Stout
takes the time out, and that will turn into a
media time out here in the final four, as the
(01:03:11):
Blue Devils trail twenty eight to fifteen and they have
the basketball with seven minutes even left to play in
the second quarter, the Blue Devils shooting thirty five percent
from the field six of seventeen. Reagan Sorenson is six
points three of six in the game, and she is
just seven points away from time, eight points away from
setting the Stout record. But again she would trade that
(01:03:33):
in a heartbeat for a win here today. And again
it's not out of the realm of possibility. We've seen
Stout make some comebacks, but they have not played from
behind very often this year at NYU has them all
out of sorts. And Stout has turned the ball over
seven times and NYU has just turned it over once
here tonight, we will take a time out with them.
We'll be back right after this. You're on your home
(01:03:56):
for Blue Devil Basketball. This is the NCED Double A

Now back to the NCED Double A Tournament right here
on News Talk wme EQ. Welcome back once again here
to Roanoke College in Salem, Virginia. Happy to have you
along with us for the Division three NCAA Women's Final
poor here on Newstock WMEQ heknduts and with you Dan
Price back in studio. We will have doing thats on
(01:04:58):
our halftime show, the athletic director for uws Stout and
looking forward to that conversation as we always do. And
we'll see the Blue Devils down by thirteen twenty eight
to fifteen to NYU into this media timeout, so out again,
just shooting thirty five percent from the field thus far
and zero two from beyond the arc. This is the
(01:05:18):
Blue Devil team that scores just under seven threes a
game coming into this game, ninety ninth in the country
in that category. They have not They've only taken two
threes now NYU is one of eight from beyond the arc.
That's a positive for the Blue Devils. The problem is
they're scoring the two pointer, really really well. They are
twelve to twenty five from the field. With all the
turnovers that Stout has made, they have gotten just that
(01:05:40):
many more opportunities or points off at chartovers thirteen to
zip in favor of NYU, and that's the difference in
the game right now. They are also scoring twenty two
to eight in points in the paint as well against Stout.
The fast break points in favor of NYU thirteen to
three as well, twelve points already for Lucky at twelve
(01:06:00):
for Natalie Bruns. Again, Bruns only averages seventeen point two
a game. But NYU also kind of suffers from some
of the things it suffers is the wrong term, but
suffers from some of the same things that Scranton does,
and that they you know they weren't They pretty much
blow teams out in the first half and then runs
didn't have to play hole act of a lot. More so,
she doesn't get a ton of minutes, right, She's one
(01:06:22):
of those who can you know, score, get her points,
and then they take her out. Let everybody else play
as well, and she will be in there a lot today,
I am sure, regardless with that day of rest tomorrow
before the national championship game. I'm sure they'll be thinking
about that. But they gotta win this. One person right
now stouts down thirteen. They need something to go their way.
Samana Geeson has it on the high right side under
seven ago here in the second quarter, Rosello Willie off
(01:06:44):
in the left wing, looking nobody getting open. They'll go
to Sorenson wants a three. Not gonna take it though,
and she's trying to figure out how to go in
on Bruns here can't she go out to shape her
with seven A shoot to step into a top of
the key three and she almost banked it in no good,
But Rosella Willie gets the offensive board. How about much
for our right wing?
Speaker 2 (01:07:00):
Three?
Speaker 1 (01:07:01):
No, it's off the side, it rolls out, No, it
rolls into the cornerscribed by Poleeckia wide open three Panda
much couldn't make it. Pilluckia the other way loses and
Dribble picks it up. Now goes to Bruns at the top,
runs crossing over on Shaper off on the left wing
for Poleeckia into the left corner. Now to Pepper inside.
They're gonna find Bruns. She'll catch, She'll go up Shaper
with the block inside, got a piece of it. Now
(01:07:21):
the turnaround shot, no but a foule. I think they're
gonna get Willy here for the foul. I think Shaper
might have gotten away with it the first time, and
then they weren't gonna let Willie get away with it
the second time on that foul. Six ten to go
here In the second n Yu twenty eight Stout fifteen.
This NYU team does not look like a D three
(01:07:43):
teen folks man alive. They are big, they are long
and just in person, it's impressive. Is that free throw?
Missus for Bruns Stout fans trying to make some noise here,
try to distract, try to do something to get this
team back into it. They need a run here at
the end of this staff second from Bruns would go
twenty nine to fifteen. NYU lead Soren's a gonna take
(01:08:06):
it across mid court and she will put on the
jets and got Bruns out of position there out to
Geese and Stout's gotta start making some perimeter shots as well.
Much up top to Willie. She's gonna step into a
three that is off the side again a miss and
Bachelor with the rebound. The Blue Doubles are cold cold
gold from beyond the arc up in transition to Bahar
Bayhart kicks it in the corner of Pepper left wing
(01:08:27):
three an airball they're throwing up and Willie gets the
weak side rebound. Stout's gonna try to push the pace
with shape or Shaper throws it to nobody. Where was
she throwing that ball sideline out of bounds, trying to
find storms as LuxI Wagner gonna check back in for
Willie and Stout turns. So that was an unforced turnover there.
Suda is just not themselves right now. They are out
(01:08:49):
of it from a I think a focus standpoint. They're
a little sped up. They're probably looking at the scoreboard
too much, which can't do when you're down by fourteen
fifteen minutes into this game. Pilechia moves high left. You're
gonna try to drive. She'll go all the way to
the hoop with the left hand. Yes, up and in.
Stout didn't get the help. Sorenson didn't know what was coming,
and I'm not sure they couldn't hear it or they
(01:09:10):
didn't call it out. But thirty one point fifteen Nyu
leads Sorenson the other way. Sorenson top of the key,
two point j She'll drain it and Sorenson scores to
have eight points tonight On Bruns gets the pass in transition,
but Stout is marry a team that does not not
get back and they didn't get back that time and
a quick bucket. So thirty three seventeen, Nyu geson from
(01:09:34):
the right wing, gets past everybody, then she missed the
bunny layup. Oh my gosh, another bunny miss for Stout.
Here's Pelechia the other way. Ball fake from Bayharm missed
the bunny layup her self and the rebound pro Wagner. Boy,
can anything else go wrong?
Speaker 2 (01:09:48):
Here?
Speaker 1 (01:09:48):
Per Stout, Wagner gets pressure from Williamson. Here's Shaper on
the high left across the timeline. Shaper for Much on
the right wing, much skips it across the Geeson gotta
get a three to go airball and Sorenson can't get
the rebound. Last touch by Nyu though to be south
basketball on the baseline. Four thirty one to go here
(01:10:10):
in this second quarter thirty three seventeen, as Mary Berg
comes in as NYU has the lead, Stout down to
thirty percent shooting right now, seven of twenty three is
as a game. They've got a shoot close to fifty
percent and to win, and they shot fifty percent against
Scranton to win that game. Here's Geeson on the left wing.
(01:10:32):
Man Anna Much is bumped inside. Yeah, they cut her
off on a drive by Williamson there. NYU thought it
was on Much, but she was kind of hip checked
out of the lane at least south ball out of bounds.
Both teams with what foul here in the second quarter?
NYU thirty three stout seventeen. Mary Burg to inbound from
the baseline in the front court here trying to get
(01:10:53):
Wagner rolf and and said it was Gieson who got opened.
Then Sorenson is foul by Bruns. That's her second foul,
all right, beck Barber is beside herself. And now you
got the two All Americans on each team with two fouls.
And are they gonna take runs out? I think they
are runs has a couple words for the officials on
(01:11:17):
her way to the bench. We're gonna bring Pepper back in.
This is the time. Now you got runs on the bench,
you gotta go on a run here if you're stout,
Brd gonna get it out to Geeson at the top
twenty to shoot. Sorenson hesitates, picks up the dribble back
for geeseon. Sowrens are gonna go, try to post up instead.
Geeseon inside with the left hand. Oh, she missed another
(01:11:38):
bunny layup. My goodness, Batchelor didn't do much there. She
just missed it. I think she was being too careful
on the layup right now, It's nerves were stout. Williamson
out on the right wing. Now, Pepper up at the
top of the key. Stout down by sixteen, four minutes
left to play here. In the second quarter, Pepper switches
across to Williamson on the right wing, trying to drive on.
Wagner up top to Pepper ball fake dribbles in, stops
(01:12:00):
to Williamson's seven to shoot. Stout fans making some noise.
Bachelor in the left corner up top bhar long three
on the way that's off the side. No rebound, Sorenson.
Sorenson's got it and she gets fouled, but no call
there on. Peleckia gets past her drives, Sorenson finds Berg
trailing now back out and Burg will just hold it,
go to Sorenson on the left wing. Sorenson back to Berg.
(01:12:22):
She'll step into a three no off the front rim,
and it's grabbed by Nyu and they're gonna get Geson
for a push. Williamson kind of baited Deeson into that.
Speaker 2 (01:12:35):
Play and fell over.
Speaker 1 (01:12:37):
Second foul on Geeson with three twenty three to go
here in the second quarter, both teams struggling to shoot
here these last few moments. Stout has hit just one
of their last eight field goal attempts. Blue Devil's struggling
to score and struggling to score a point. Nink grange, dude,
They've had at least three or four bunny layups missed
(01:12:59):
in this. Pepper with it here for Nyu. Up by sixteen,
three to zero, five to go. You're in the second quarter.
Pepper drives to go to Bahar. She wants a right
wing three that is too strong rebound for Wagner in
the Blue doubles. Wagner's got it and she will push
the pace off. Big contact there from Bachelor and she'll
get called for the foul. Nyu is coming to play
from a physical standpoint. The officials will.
Speaker 2 (01:13:20):
Call that here.
Speaker 1 (01:13:22):
Stout will have it in the back court and we'll
get a time out taken by NYU. So not want
of points being scored per Stout, but they're in the
heads a little bit of the violets, and that thirty
second timeout I believe will keep things here. They just
said they want to review something. No, now they're going
to keep it here with a thirty second time out.
(01:13:44):
Two point fifty six remaining here in the second quarter,
self scoring drought goes two minutes and eighteen seconds. Stout's
hitting one of their last eight goals, but NYU is
on a two minute and twelve second scoring drought as well.
They've missed their last four field goal attempts. Sorenson has eight.
(01:14:08):
On the other side, runs as fifteen, Blekia has fourteen.
Nobody else's scored. I mean those have been the two
though that they've gone to behar has been told from
beyond the arc, she is oh of three there, Pepper
is oh of five from beyond the arc is well runs.
It's the only player to hit a three so far
here tonight. For NYU is there one of eleven from
beyond the arc. Because South is oh of seven, and
so it is not translated here. Stout all the practice
(01:14:31):
that they've had here, same with NYU at this gym,
at the Kragers Center into points there. Everybody just struggling
to shoot right now. All right, Here we go on
to the timeout. Amanda Geeson will trigger it in from
the sideline. Mary Berg will catch and whistle. There was
still some squeezing that needed to be done here down
(01:14:56):
near the lane, I think where New York was taking
their time out. So they're going to pro reset the clock,
I'd imagine, and just act like that didn't happen. Officials
are gonna talk about how they want to adjudicate this. Yeah,
they're gonna say, hey, reset it to thirty and put
an extra second back in the clock as well, and
(01:15:18):
just act like that passed and happen. Hanna Iverson getting
the explanation. Apparently they're not going to do it all right,
They're gonna leave a second ticked, all right. Sorenson with
a basketball here for Stout, the All American with two
fouls early, but she is settled in after getting back
into this game. There's Mary Berg at the high left,
(01:15:41):
crossing over trying to drive in toward the lane, back
to to back out to Anna Much Hilo catch for
Swordson inside the layup, missed it. She gets her own rebound, though,
tiptoes the baseline and then gets bumped inside by Alexander.
Goes up no good, but a foul called on Zara,
Alexander and Sorenson just to Nacity underneath will this kneed
back into the game with two thirty three left to
(01:16:02):
go in the second quarter see fourth file on NYU.
So it's also free throws the rest of us here
from Stout if they get fouled again and Meg Barber
is in the air thatficials saying Sorenson was hooking. But
I don't think you're gonna get that call any day
of the week. Starters back out for the mood Levils.
Speaker 16 (01:16:20):
Now.
Speaker 1 (01:16:24):
Sorenson's first free throw is missed man from an offensive standpoint,
nothing else could I mean, I don't think there's much
else that can go wrong right now? For Stout, they've
got only sixteen points. Second free throw is way off
the mark. Ana Much try to tip it out but
couldn't Behart gets it here for NYU. It's the sixteen
point NYU lead. Pelchia finds the trailer Pepper. Pepper picks
(01:16:45):
up the dribble over to Peleekia in the corner. Polechia
gets the screen. Polachia moves now off on the left wing.
Polechia tries to dribble drive backs it back out Alexander
in the corner. Three second violation called on. They are well,
I mean, you've got a two minute and forty eight
second scoreless streak here for NYU. The problem is it
stouts on the same length of scoreless streak and haven't
(01:17:07):
been able to take advantage of it. Sorenson gets across
the mid court line into the lane. She'll go to
Schaeffer in the left corner. You gotta get a high
percentage shot here. They go to Sorenson, she catches there.
It is the layup goes thirty three nineteen. Pilot's a
good high lovel place set up there by the Blue
doubles under two to go here in the first half.
South could just get this town to ten at halftime.
(01:17:29):
I like their chances behar on the left wing guarded
by Geson. They've shown they can guard him. Now to
Pepper ball Day from three now a step back on
the way, and that is good. It's the three, and
it's thirty six nineteen NYU. Schafer. We'll Paul handle here
across mid court, and now Geson's got it here per
(01:17:49):
stout on the high right, Annah much trying to spin
in toward the lane. Geson will take it herself. Bahart
takes contact charge call mana. Geson called for her third,
third foul on Geeson. You can see that coming a
mile away in NYU set up perfectly for it. Now
you got Geese with three, Sorenson with two. The Boo
(01:18:13):
double's in some trouble now in terms of fouls. They
have called this game tight, and that has not benefited
the Blue Doubles at all this afternoon, thirty six nineteen NYU,
with the lead one minute, twenty seconds remain here in
the first half. Up top, it's Williamson around to Pleckia.
(01:18:33):
No Bruns. She's gonna stay on the bench, likely until
the third quarter. Hand it off on the left wing.
Pepper are gonna drive in toward the hoop. Willy is there.
She goes up, no call, but she will make it
fall in anyway. Willy slipped it under and probably good
they didn't call it, because they probably would have called
a block there thirty eight nineteen, the violets of double
up Stout sorens and gets past the initial attack. We're
going to take it herself.
Speaker 2 (01:18:54):
Then she is bowed by bay are.
Speaker 1 (01:18:57):
Soorrenson going to the line, and this is where from
now along, Stout's got to be really, really good at
the free throw on like they cannot miss. They gotta
get everything to go right. There's still a lot of
time left in the game, but you're down by eighteen
by nineteen, excuse me, you gotta have everything go your way.
As things progress, Wagner's gonna check out. You've got Berg
(01:19:22):
and Willie along with Sorenson, much and shaper of the
five on the floor for Stout and Sorenson has got
to get something to go with the free throw line,
and she does. Sowrenson hits the first she's up to
eleven and make it off, rolls off, misses the second
one thirty eight to twenty. Nyu leads, I haven't you know,
(01:19:46):
I haven't thought. Nyu has played terribly great here and
they're up by eighteen, which tells you a little bit
about them. Here's a block from behind by Willie pokes
out of there, and Shaffer gets it on the drive
by Pepper and then Willie loses the basketball and it
was last touch by Rosella Willie. They're gonna say, are
they gonna over turn this one? Yeah, was last touch
by Nyu. It'll be south basketball. Nyu wanting I think,
(01:20:08):
to get a sub in or wanting a review, but
they won't get it. William bounds to Sorenson, and Sorenson
will take it across the timeline about a five second differential,
doing game in shock box. Soarrenson had a poked away
by Williamson. Now she gets it back, drives cut off
there by Plekia. Stout's gonna slow it down. Here Shaper
at the top of the key, who's left on the
high left wing. Now for Shaper, Shaper trying to get
(01:20:30):
past Williamson, stops, picks up the dribble, bad pass for
Much loses it out of bounds. They wanted a foul
call on Alexander. They weren't gonna get it much Dove
for it looked like she got pushed by Alexander from behind.
Note call thirteen point nine to go here. In the
second n YU thirty eight south twenty and one more
NYU sub and that'll be Mary Kate fahey A from
(01:20:53):
Arlington Heights, Illinois checking in for Williamson to get a
few moments. Yeah, that's been all NYU, no doubt about that.
Ceut's gonna have to figure it out it halftime and
how they want to attack this violet seam going forward.
They will hold for the final shot seven seconds six
seconds left ear and the half pilecki on the high left.
(01:21:15):
They set up a picket fence for up top. Plucky
now goes back at three on the way is good.
They're gonna have to review that. Though Pepper hits it,
they're gonna count it for a moment, but that was
very very close to still being in her hand, and
the officials will review this to make sure it got
off in time. If it did, it's NYU forty one.
It's stout twenty at halftime. But we will certainly see
(01:21:37):
the review there and we will let you know as
to how that updates things at halftime. So they will
review this. Here, they're gonna switch the arrow and now
they will take a look at the monitor.
Speaker 2 (01:21:48):
While they do that, we will.
Speaker 1 (01:21:49):
Pause for two minutes. We will have doing that's the
athletic director for Stout with us when we come back.
It's halftime here between Sound and NYU, and it's all
NYU NYU forty one Stout and you're listening right here
on your home from Blue Devil Basketball. This is the
NCAA tournament right here on News Talk me EQ.
Speaker 5 (01:22:11):

Speaker 1 (01:24:12):
Now back to the NC DOUBLEA tournament right here on
News Talk wm EQ, going I'm back here to N
one or to Salem, Virginia rather NYU with a forty
one to twenty lead on stout as the Blue Devils
struggling in that verse half and pretty much every aspect
of the game. They did a pretty decent job shutting
(01:24:34):
down the NYU squad at times during that second quarter,
but they just could not score in that first first half.
The officials are still I think they're trying to get
a replay that they haven't give them a replay from
the ESPN broadcast truck yet as to whether that three
was in time or not at the end of the half.
So right now it officially reads forty one to twenty.
(01:24:55):
Officials are still at the table and the clock is
ticking here for and I'm not sure when they're going
to finally get a look at the replay, hopefully soon,
but they have not seen anything. It's still blue on
that monitor down there, and they're pointing trying to get
somebody to tell them what's going on with the monitor,
and they haven't been able to figure it out yet.
So I'm interested to see how that all works out.
(01:25:16):
But I'll keep my eyepeel down there as well. Dewey
Nats has not come up to join us yet here
in our halftime spot, and so we might be without
doing this evening as well here at halftime. And so
what it does is give me a chance to go
over to the halftime stats, and it's not good for Stout.
Stout down forty one to twenty at the moment. And
(01:25:38):
again we'll get an idea of what happened with that
replay here in just a little bit. But nonetheless, I mean,
I thought, for my money, I thought that shot was
off late, but it was really really close and you'd
have to have a replay to see it. And I
saw Casey Parrot or sid down there talking with one
of the photographers who's here for Stout and we'll see,
we'll see if they wave an off or not. My
guess is he has a good view of it down
(01:26:00):
there too. Here's mister Nats, doctor Nats.
Speaker 2 (01:26:03):
Yeah, hell beat, how are you sir?
Speaker 1 (01:26:04):
How are we doing? Well? It was a tough first half,
that's for sure, But well it was one of those
where you can tell why NYU is who they are,
that's a heck of a long team and a pretty
solid defensive team there. I'm not sure that there's a
men's team who could score against them the way they're playing.
Speaker 2 (01:26:21):
You know, actually we're playing pretty good defensively.
Speaker 12 (01:26:23):
We just aren't take care of the ball. Yeah, we
do that and make some layups here, we'll be all right.
I think you're right. Definitely.
Speaker 1 (01:26:29):
There were stretches there in that second quarter where we
were really shutting them down defensively and just gotta we'd
get we'd pull it out of the offensive, we'd.
Speaker 2 (01:26:37):
Get a good stop, and then we would throw the
ball to nobody. But they'll be all right. I mean,
this is it's a pretty big show for these kids, and.
Speaker 12 (01:26:47):
There's a little nerves there, I think, but I think
coaches are Hannah and the other two will get the
girls settled down and come back here.
Speaker 2 (01:26:55):
It's a big hole, but they'll battle and see what
happens here.
Speaker 1 (01:26:58):
Yeah, definitely nerves for sure, But pretty cool trip for
this team and doing Natzig and the athletic director here
for Stout joining us at halftime talk a little bit
about what's kind of gone into the last what two
three weeks now of basketball here for Stout going to Scranton,
now down here to Salem and seeing kind of all
the pomp and circumstance around the final four. It's pretty
cool for the players, but cool for the staff and
(01:27:20):
cooler for everybody to be down here because it is
really a special moment, isn't it.
Speaker 2 (01:27:23):
It really is?
Speaker 12 (01:27:24):
And you know it started with us hosting and our
staff and our community came out in droves and supported
this team.
Speaker 2 (01:27:31):
And then we got to go last week and get
to see what it is to travel.
Speaker 12 (01:27:35):
And playing trains and automobiles and the girls battled and
they're gonna do that again here. But yeah, this facility
is fantastic. We have piles of fans here enjoying the evening.
Speaker 2 (01:27:46):
So taking it all in.
Speaker 12 (01:27:48):
This is the championship city. They do a fantastic job
of hosting. And friend of mine, that Carrie Harvey Cutter,
who runs this operation in this community. I think he
told me this is his one hundred and fifth championship
they've hosted, So they're proud of that and they know
what they're doing and really make the kids feel special.
Speaker 2 (01:28:08):
Which is what it's all about.
Speaker 1 (01:28:09):
Yeah, this is the spot that's hosted the stag Ball
a number of years as well, right for Division III football,
So and you typically see sailing on. There're a lot
of soccer championships here too. This is, like they say,
the championship city. And you can tell that they really
like to host here because they were. I mean, the
banquet last night was one of those moments where they
kind of had it all clicking right. They knew exactly
what to do, when to do, and they're very used
(01:28:31):
to it here.
Speaker 12 (01:28:31):
Yep, they are, and they, like I said, they put
the kids in the student athlete experience first, and that's
all you can.
Speaker 2 (01:28:37):
Ask for when you go on the road like this.
Speaker 12 (01:28:40):
So I'm sure that the team is sitting in there
and they'll get regrouped and come back out in battle.
Speaker 2 (01:28:45):
They always have. So let's see what we do here.
Speaker 1 (01:28:48):
You mentioned you know what it means to the community
as well, in the community coming out to support when
Stout hosted two weeks ago in that opening pod. Pretty
cool to see all the community support and all the
folks of me Nominee coming together for this as well.
You've been obviously athletic director and coach and Menominee and
at Stout for a long time. This is one of
the cooler moments right in the history of the city
(01:29:08):
to see everybody kind of come together to watch and
support this team.
Speaker 12 (01:29:12):
Yeah, and there, I know there's tons of people at
home watching and people listening on your radio.
Speaker 2 (01:29:16):
I'm sure it is. It's remarkable.
Speaker 12 (01:29:19):
And this, like we talked about last week until I
started to cry, right, they just this team just pulls
you in because of how they battle and compete and
how they represent our university in our community and even
the WAC in the state of Wisconsin Minnesota there. They
do a great job. And I know they're going to
come out here and put on a show here in
(01:29:40):
the second half.
Speaker 1 (01:29:41):
So I know you and Aaron have great relationships with
the other ads and the other folks you know in
the WIC You mentioned that obviously, Daryl here from Oshkosh,
and it's kind of cool to see the staff and
also the fans sort of support each other too. You
get down here and Okay, there might be a little
rivalry from back in the conference, but here, I mean
all the Oscosh fans rooting for Stout and I'm sure
a lot of Stout fans will hang around and root
(01:30:03):
for Oshkosh in Game two today as well.
Speaker 12 (01:30:04):
Yeah, the WEC is a pretty special league in that aspect,
and a lot of mutual respect.
Speaker 2 (01:30:09):
Even when you compete against each.
Speaker 12 (01:30:11):
Other, you leave it all out on the court or
on the field, and when it's over, you shake hands,
and the mutual respect is awesome. And our league is
respected nationwide and when you get here people that's what
they talk about, is our conference.
Speaker 1 (01:30:26):
So yeah, it's pretty good. I mentioned it to you yesterday.
I was in the airport with a Stout shirt on,
and I like to wear my Kansas stuff a lot
of times because I'll get some Kansas people to give
me a rock chock and whatnot. But I'm wearing my
Stout stuff. Had a guy who played at Utica, played
football and he goes, oh the wyakt and like literally
just said, man, that conference is so tough, right, you
mentioned the reputation it's there, but showing out like the
(01:30:48):
Yaks doing here in virginia's pretty owes.
Speaker 2 (01:30:51):
I have two of the four teams from our league
is pretty special.
Speaker 1 (01:30:54):
So I you think about the three teams that aren't here,
two of them lost to Yak teams in order to
illerk it so pretty awesome there as well. How about
that the officials still looking at a replay that three
at the end. I've been keeping my eye on it
down there.
Speaker 2 (01:31:07):
We'll take it that forward.
Speaker 1 (01:31:08):
I'm waiting for it to come off the board. It
certainly look I thought if the naked eye that it
was late. It was really really close. But they're still
talking about it. But nonetheless certainly fun. We're getting into
spring sports season. I know we haven't really thought about
that yet because you've been pretty much away from home
the last three weeks.
Speaker 12 (01:31:23):
You just said that we hosted two weeks ago. It
seems like a and a half ago. But it's been
a whirlwind of a lot of work. Why our campus
and especially Aaron and Alyssa and our coaches, just to
get on the road and travel like this. There's a
lot that goes into it, and they're very professional at
what they do, so it's a pretty special time. I
(01:31:44):
guess we all get to ride along with.
Speaker 1 (01:31:46):
I certainly appreciate again you guys let me come out
here and do these games on the radio, and we
appreciate everything that you do and have done from Blue
Devils and looking forward to the spring. It's gonna be
fun and I'm looking forward to twenty more minutes where
we can Yeah's offense.
Speaker 2 (01:32:01):
Go, let's keep our winner sports season going here. Get
we get it on a little roll.
Speaker 12 (01:32:05):
You know for sure that this team can score fast,
So let's take care of the ball, keep playing good
d and trying to get our way back in here.
Speaker 1 (01:32:13):
I appreciate it doing you've got pete. Thank you sir
doing that. It's joining us here on halftime again. At halftime,
it is forty one to twenty in favor of NYU.
That might change to thirty eight to twenty if they
wave off that last basket. But the officials are not
going to get a halftime here because we've only got
about six minutes until the third quarter tips off and
they are still at the table. Because I think there
(01:32:33):
is some issues with the replay system here in terms
of when that shot got off, and they have not
been able to replay it to their monitors. So we
will keep our eyes and ears peeled for that, and
we will come back and see what's going on. Let's
take two minutes to two minutes. We'll come back with
more halftime stats. Get you ready for the second half
right after this here on your home from Blue Double Basketball.

Rono College and the Kragers Center, the site of the

Peecos Inwiti special thanks for doing that's for joining us
(01:35:24):
at halftime. We are about three minutes away from starting
the third quarter, but folks, I think we might have
a delay because the officials are still looking and I
know I'm not sure they've even seen a replay at
They're finally starting to look, and I think somebody one
of the people at the table, one of the officials,
brought a phone over with the with the stream from
ESPN Plus on it as they try to look to
(01:35:45):
see if that three from Carolyn Pepper at the end
of the half was good or not. It's still good
on the board, it's still good everywhere. Because they have
not gotten a good look. They're finally, I think, getting
the replay system going here, so we'll see if we
end up having a a rest or whatever. We have
a delay before we start this second half. It took
(01:36:05):
a long time to start the halftime clock, and we're
gonna get delayed I think all the way around with
what's going on. So officials are going to talk about
this now together. They did not go to the locker room.
They stayed at the table to figure out if that
shot was good or not. Again, I thought, by the
naked eye, I thought she didn't get it off, but
it was so close that yeah, well, we'll end up
(01:36:30):
seeing what they end up doing. But nonetheless, it's a
forty one to twenty eight here for Nyu, and I
thought for a moment they were announcing whether that three
was good or not, but they were not. Okay, all right,
let's get you to the halftime. SATs forty seven percent
from the field Bran Yu thirty percent per Stout. Nyu
was seventeen of thirty six. In the first half. Stout
(01:36:50):
was eight of twenty seven, including oh of seven from
beyond the arc, and I mean you can hear an
eight of twenty from two point range as well, which
is very unlike the Blue Devils. In that first half,
Stout was oh of seven from beyond the arc. Nyu
wash of thirteen or probably three of thirteen from beyond
on the arc. Free throws were four out of eight
(01:37:12):
per Stout, four out of seven for Nyu. Stout turned
it over ten times, Nyu just two, and twenty to
two is the difference in points off the turnovers for NYU.
That is basically the difference in this game. And so
the officials just got some water. But we're about ready
for the start of the second half. They're not going
to get to go to the locker room here, so
they're gonna find a place to put those and I
(01:37:35):
don't they haven't taken the three off the board, so
I assume they're gonna count the three and off we go.
So well, those of you who might be trying to
sync up the radio broadcast with the TV broadcast, maybe
you rewound and saw some of those plays as to
what was going on and know if that three got
(01:37:56):
off or not. But the officials didn't ever seem to
really get a good look at it on the monitor.
And now if we got any monitor situations in the
second half, be ready for delay. And you're listening to
South Basketball here in the NCAA Tournament on Newstock wmq
A M EIGHTYMN translator to W two ninety two EG
one O six point three FMO player and iHeart Radio
station for twenty n YU with the lead Reagan Sorenson
(01:38:21):
with eleven tonight two for Willie, two for much five.
Speaker 2 (01:38:23):
For Man to get.
Speaker 1 (01:38:29):
To keep two. So they will make sure that the
three stands they said the call was inconclusive, not calls stands,
which for my money, that means that they didn't get
a look at the monitor. That would be an interesting
one to go back and look at after this game.
And let's just say, if n if South makes a
(01:38:49):
roaring comeback and they lose by three or fewer, we're
gonna have problems because I would love to actually see that,
and I don't think the officials actually ever got a
really good look at it. So to the NYU to
start off with the basketball here in this second half,
and they will move from left to Ryan as you
listen at home, stout from right to left. NYU has
(01:39:11):
the arrow, so they've got the basketball for NYU. They
shot again forty seven percent of the field first half,
including fourteen points for Poluchia and fifteen points for the
National Player of the year in Natalie Bruns. Inbounds goes
to Pepper and we are underway in the second half.
Blue Devils need to keep up the defense and then
they need to figure out a way to get into
(01:39:33):
this game offensively, which they have not been able to do.
Stout trying to front the post a drive in the
left baseline by Pepper, picks up the dribble, throws it out.
Bruns grabs at the left wing runs has two fouls
as well. Mandy Geeson has three. Reagan Sorenson has two.
Runs cut off on the left side of the lane,
finds a drive in Poluckia and Reagan Sorenson got in
a bad spot, pushed her from behind and gets called
(01:39:53):
for the foul. That's her third. I don't think Anna
Iverson can roll without her, though. She's got to keep
her in the game. So Sorenson and Geeson each with three.
There comes the inbound in Geeson steals it away. On
the inbound from the baseline, she will float out to
the left wing and look for trailers. Wagner is a
trailer she'll take. She'll miss the three, and it's rebounded
(01:40:15):
by Bruns. Along three there from Wagner, but she usually
doesn't care. On the range of those inflected past there
by Sorenson, stolen away by Gieson, pressure from behind, poked
away from behind by Bachelor, and stolen away by Polechia.
Here's Pepper the other way, returns it for Bachelor around
right now to Polechia. Forty one twenty NYU nine minutes ago.
(01:40:37):
Here in the third quarter, Bruns drive now kicks out
to Polechio right wing three. That is short rebound Geson.
She's got the good box out inside defense is there
for Stouth. They just got to figure out how to say.
If they can figure out how to score in these
next few minutes, we might have a ball game. But
they got to figure it out. Shaper over for Wagner
at the top. She'll move it over to Sorenson on
(01:40:59):
the left wing runs trying to defend. She'll now go
in with the right hand up and over the national
player of the year, and she'll score it. Forty one
twenty two n Yu. Here come the violence the other way,
Polekia into the right corner. Switch it up top. Now
for Bruns. This is Behar Pilekia. Polekia moves to the
(01:41:21):
left side and a hand out there for Pepper. Pepper stopped.
They front the post with Bruns. Doesn't matter. It was
a block from Shafer, but she got some arm in
there as well, and Bruns is headed the line for
a couple of free throws. Stock and his defensively is
playing great tonight, but just have not been able to
figure it out offensively.
Speaker 2 (01:41:40):
This evening.
Speaker 1 (01:41:49):
Free throw will rattle in for Bruns. Forty two twenty two.
NYU leads it one more for Bruns and that one
will go and it is back two. A twenty one
point lead here for the Violets and their their smallest
(01:42:10):
margin of victory this season was in the game against
WashU on the road. Is Sorenson on the right side
of lane, pops the two right over runs again and
heads and with that bucket, Reagan Sorenson has become the
programs all time leading score. And there's a block by
Wagner from behind out of bounds, and that is why
you hear the fans making noise. Reagan Sorenson is now
(01:42:33):
past Julia Hersig for the most points in Stout history
one thousand seven forty Ala behar are right wing. Three
of foul called and the bucket goes. I think the
foul wasn't on the shot, it was away from the
ball and handa much and it's going to be out
(01:42:57):
of bounds. NYU he good forty six four. NYU with
the lead, they get to keep the basketball because of
a weird bowl ball on Amanda Geeson away from the
ball what in the world is that? So Geeson's got
(01:43:18):
to come out. She's got four fouls forty six twenty four.
Speaker 2 (01:43:21):
NYU.
Speaker 1 (01:43:22):
This team, I mean, man, this seem it's really really tough.
Pepper at the top of the key. Now for Behar
on the right wing, screen set up there, given go
with Pepper. She catches inside, gets it out to Bachelor
in the left wing. Back to Pepper at the top.
Pepper trying to drive. Willie cut her off. Willi cuts
her off again, almost loses it, throws it inside and
n Yu throws it out of bounds. It's out basketball.
(01:43:43):
Stout will have it on the sideline, down by twenty
two and they've only scored twenty four in this game.
Seven to twenty seven left to go. Third quarter, Reagan Sorenson,
the all time leading scorer in Stout history, brings it
across the timeline with her fifteen points. She'll cross over. Now,
I'll move it off too much on the left wing
much looking inside, can't find a pass much, dribbles up
at the top, moves in toward the lane, takes contact, fires,
(01:44:05):
misses a shot. Shafer trying to tip it out and couldn't.
And it's grabbed by bachelor. Bachelor with a beautiful shot
up to Peleckia. Pluckia finds Bruns good pass in the
corner for three. No good miss there by Pepper. It's
rebounded by Sorensen. Sorenson's got it across the timeline, poked
away from behind. She'll stay with it. Shaffer catches off
on the right wing, back to Sorenson inside, hangs in
the lane, misses the shot rebound behar for NYU forty
(01:44:27):
six twenty four. Violet's lead. They'll slow it down. With
six forty five to go in this third quarter, Sorenson,
with three fouls, will defend on Polekia up top. Schaeffer
will defend Bruns. Here's pepper Stout has shut down this
NYU team offensively, but haven't been able to get it
(01:44:49):
going offensively themselves. Bachelor with a drive had it poked
away by much, still rolling around. Willie's got it and
she was hit from behind. No jump ball call, and
she'll just roll it off to Sorenson. And here she comes.
Sorenson the other on toward the lane, gets it out
to much on the right wing. She wants to drive.
She does, stops oh Sorenson got thrown out of the lane.
Speaker 2 (01:45:06):
No call.
Speaker 1 (01:45:06):
Here's much out on the right wing. Switch it to
Sorenson on the left. Bruns has that long live in
front of her. Sorenson takes it herself around on Thorrenson
would not be to night and Bruns just picked up
her third forty six twenty six NYU and his That
(01:45:28):
the moment that Stout can get back into this game.
It is not off. In the national semi finals or
national championship games, you see big comebacks. Pick back to
twenty twenty two Men's D one final, ku is down
by sixteen going into the half and they ended up
(01:45:49):
winning over UNC in that game. You don't see it
happen a lot in these situations as Polekia throws it out,
but they call a foul on Willie. What in the
world is that Willy got a little bump inside? She
was there for a while though. I just don't think
they liked the contact that happened, and they decided to
call in on Willie. New York inbounds. Here Stout down
(01:46:10):
by twenty. Here's Bahart a little pressure from Stout. Now
runs has it at the top. Sorens has got a
hand in her face. Bayard takes a.
Speaker 2 (01:46:17):
Three and drains it from the right wing.
Speaker 1 (01:46:19):
They are a thirty six percent three point shooter, and
she finally hits one. Here tonight, Willy gets it into
Sorenson and she'll push it across. Sorenson brings it across
the timeline down by twenty three. Willy steps into a
three from the top. Two strong long rebound, and that
is Behar's here for nyu Stout's clicking. Those baskets are going,
they're not tonight. Here's Bruns at the top of the key,
(01:46:42):
guarded by Wagner out on the left wing. Another Bayhart
three that's way off the mark, long rebound for Bachelor.
She rolls to Pilecki on the right block, guarded by
Schaeffer off the window. Yes, fifty one, twenty six. Nyu
Stout just does not have the answer here yet, and
they're running out of time, down to fifteen and it's
left in this game. Willie drives upside the lane. Wagner
(01:47:02):
catch and shoot pops at three in airball. She cannot
find the range, but Sorenson tracks down the offensive rebound
before it went out of bounds. Nice job, Wagoner out
on the left wing, can she this time? No, it'll
go to much in the left post's outside the lane
much with that patent to two point rainbow. Jay misses
it and it's shape through tracks down the rebound and
actually be willy as it rolls out near the half
(01:47:23):
court mark, not of Sorenson on the right wing. Stouch
just cannot get the ball to fall right now hang
in the lane. Sorenson misses his shot, Bruns gets the rebound,
fifty one to twenty six Violets with four point thirty
to go. Here in the third quarter, polect You gets
(01:47:44):
a screen, moves left, goes in on. Sorenson misses a
shot tipped out of bounds by Nyu' to be South basketball.
But the Blue Devils down by twenty five, and they've
only scored twenty six points in this game. Gotta figure
it out offensively, as the Blue Devils are shooting just
twenty nine percent. I'm on the field eleven of thirty
seven in this context, while NYU right on their normal numbers,
(01:48:05):
little under their normal numbers. In fact, South defense has
been great. They're shooting just forty five percent from the field. However,
Bruns has seventeen Pelekia has sixteen, Pepper has ten sorens
and has seventeen. The next closest is Amanda Geese and
who's on the bench with four fouls with five points.
Anna much with is two, Rosella Willie with two, and
Lexi Wagner has been shut out, only taking three shots,
(01:48:26):
including one to three and she's zero for three in
the contest. Stout needs an answer offensively, can they get
it going? We'll find out when we come back after
this media timeout right here on your home for Blue
Double Basketball. This is the NCAA Tournament right here on
News Talk. The w m EQ.
Speaker 5 (01:48:46):
Parkview Community Campus is committed in its efforts by providing
an integrated long term care campus to the surrounding area
and aggressively delivering the highest quality of care to their
five facilities. They are receptive to the needs and concerns
of their staff, residents, tenants, family members, children, and the community.
Call park View Community Campus of Winville, Wisconsin. Seven win, five, six, nine, eight,
(01:49:11):
twenty four to fifty one and good luck to the
women's basketball team.
Speaker 1 (01:49:18):
Now back to the NCUBLEA Tournament right here on News
Talk wm EQ. The Blue Devils have only made eleven
field goals here tonight and have struggled to score against
this unbelievably good defensive squad. Get NYU. The Violets typically
hold their opponents to thirty three percent shooting, which is
(01:49:40):
thirty sixth in the country. The Blue Devils at twenty
nine percent tonight, and they are zero of ten from
beyond the arc. And this Blue Devils team averages just
under seven may breeze a game and obviously have zero
at this point. They are also four of nine shooting
at the free throw line. You figure that free throw
shooting not to say it wouldn't be important tonight, but
that they're like, they wouldn't be a big disparity and
(01:50:01):
they probably wouldn't be a ton of free throw shot. Again,
most of the time you get to the final four,
officials tend to let them play. They don't tend to
call a lot of fouls. Foul trouble has though been
an issue tonight. Is Reagan Sorenson has three and Amana
Geese has been on the bench with four fouls for
the last few minutes as well. NYU is all of
their last four from the field. Stout is one of
(01:50:22):
their last seven, but they are still shooting forty five
percent from the field in the game, and they are
five of eighteen from beyond the arc. Are the Violet
six of nine at the line and have three players
in double figures. They also have Bachelor, who is a
brick batchelor who's up to ten rebounds tonight as well.
So that's where things sit. The Blue Devils have been
(01:50:45):
out rebounded in this game thirty to twenty five. As
the stout fans trying to make some noise, they're trying
to will this team back into it. It's a long
way to go to A lot of teams come back
from twenty five point deficits with fourteen to nineteen left
to play. No, they don't. But if there's any team
who could, you would not shock you if it was
(01:51:05):
the Blue Doves. Because this team does not know the
word quit, does not know the word give up. They
will inbound here out of the time out. Sam Shaffer
will get it across through the press. Sorenson on the
high right cauling out for Willie. Willie trying to flash
to the hoop. She'll take it herself. Instead, picks up
the dribblet the free throw line out to the left
wing to much much looking in She'll get it to
(01:51:26):
Wagner at the top of the key. Wagner gonna try
to drive to the hoop at the left hand, misses
the scoop lay up, never hit rim. Sorenson will fade
in the lane with the rebound and hit it fifty
one twenty eight. Pilots throw it away, No, they threw
it off the backboard and then it tips into the
hands of Sorenson at the mid court line. Then she'll
take it to the other way and hit it quick,
little four wheel run from Stout.
Speaker 2 (01:51:47):
Fifty one thirty.
Speaker 1 (01:51:49):
Nyu leads Stout almost baiting them. They kind of gave
him a little taste of their own medicine with the
press and bait at Nyu into a bad pass at
the front court Polechia screen on Sorenson. She'll move to
the right wing for Behar up top around left side
of Pepper. Pepper finds Bruns inside. She will hand it
off Bachelor with the layup. Yes, Stout over rotating and
(01:52:11):
couldn't recover and the right block layup will go for Bachelor,
and it's fifty three point thirty here in favor of
the violence Wagner on the right wing inside to Sorenson.
She'll score past runs and Reagan. Sorensen continues to impress.
She is now up to twenty one points here in
the contest. Palecki into the lane, She'll move it back
(01:52:32):
out to Bachelor on the right wing. Bachelor dribbles left
behar inside toward runs, catches, but too deep under the bucket,
has to get it back out in NYU loses a
out of bounds Pleekia had too much juice on the
pass with the gruns and couldn't handle it. And it's
south basketball fifty three thirty two n YU two forty
nine to go here in the third quarter. It would
(01:52:53):
take a monumental effort against the best team in the
country first out to make a comeback. But you know,
fifteen points deficit, I would take that at the end
of the third quarter. Could they get there? Absolutely? Sorenson
steps into a long tube, try to bank and miss it.
Thing went and got her own rebound in the lane.
Back out to Shaffer. Shaffer on the left wing looking
for much inside, bad pass, and it's Bruns who gets
(01:53:16):
to steal much. Didn't quite go the route that she
thought she would and Bruns was right there to tip
it and steal it right to herself. Runs at the
top trying to drive in on Shaffer. She'll stop her
could give and go here with Bahar with the up
and under off the bottom of the rim, missed it.
The putback is no good. Willy was there and it's
rebounded by Wager. Wagner with a head up the other way.
Wagner crosses over into the lane with the left hand
(01:53:37):
yes around Bahar and it's a fifty three to three
four league for Nyu. Is Stout tries to keep it
close as close as they can. I should say Bruns
almost traveled across the timeline in the left corner. You
need to miss this one for Pepper. She will miss it,
and the rebound is there and a foul is called
on Willie. Willy is called on the put back attempt
(01:53:59):
for Behar. Nyu wanted Sorenson, she was close there as well,
to get the call, but they did not give it
to her. As Williamson has set to check in here
for Nyu, but she'll come in for Behar, who's at
the line line for Bayharm seventy nine percent shooting at
the free throw line seventy two percent for this team
as a team this season, which is sixty first in
the country. And the free throw will go nothing but
(01:54:21):
net fifty four to thirty four, NYU one fifty four
to go here in this third quarter. Bayhart's second is
nothing but nett as well, and there's at Williamson's sub.
She will check in for Beahar. Bayhar having a good
(01:54:41):
game here tonight as well. She's up to eight points
and NYU with Bahara two more for her, and they've
got four players in double figures tonight. Schaeffer for Willie
willly gonna take it across the timeline, good ball, hand alert,
and then it's poked away right as I say that,
and a travel. I was poked away. There's no way
that cannot be called a travel. That is an awful call.
Really had a poked away, then went and grabbed it
(01:55:02):
and came to a jump stop. You can't call a
travel in that situation. That's just a bad call. Well,
when you're down by twenty one, you can't get bad
calls to Palkia will take it across the timeline, gets
past Sorenson who is defending, and Stout tries to put
a little of their own press on him. Here Palekia
(01:55:22):
gets around shaper and a whistle in a time out
taken by NYU whe thirty.
Speaker 2 (01:55:26):
Six to go.
Speaker 1 (01:55:27):
Here in the third, it's NYU fifty five, Stout thirty four.
The change into a media timeout as well. Stout has
hit four of their last five field goals, but they
need something to go their way down the stretch. Her
field goal percentage is up to thirty five fifteen to
forty three, but Sout is still without a main three
pointer of this game as air zero of ten. Sorenson,
(01:55:48):
with twenty three to night has set the all time
record for scoring in a Blue Double uniform in Stout history,
as she passes Julia Hrsik. But you trade all of
that right now for a close game, which this is not.
At the one thirty six to go in the third,
it's NYU fifty five. It's DOUNT thirty four. We are
back after this on your home for Blue Double Basketball.
(01:56:10):
This is the NCED Double A Tournament right here on
News Talk wm EQ.
Speaker 6 (01:56:18):
ConAgra Brands, located in Menominee, Wisconsin, The makers of Swiss

this time to congratulate the local basketball team on their
historic postseason run as they advanced to the college basketball finals.
ConAgra Brands in Menominee conveys a big congratulations and the
best of luck to the coach and basketball team in
(01:56:39):
their opening game. ConAgra Brands, maker of Swiss Smiths, Hot
Coco and Snackpack Pudding in Monominee, Wisconsin.
Speaker 1 (01:56:48):
Now back to the NCED Double A Tournament right here
on News Talk wme EQ. Quarter back here to Salem
first ye on the side of the final four the
women's basketball tournament here in twenty twenty five, Stout trailing
Big fifty five to thirty four with a minute forty
two left to go in the third quarter. Things are
(01:57:10):
coming around offensively for Stout, but all of a sudden,
NYU trying to start to turn it up a little
bit from the offensive side of the ball. They outscort
Stout twenty two to thirteen in the first quarter, nineteen
to seven in the second. The third quarter's been even
fourteen apiece, but they got a long way to go
to the blue doubles here and again, just need to
get this down around the fifteen point mark. You feel
(01:57:31):
like you got a chance at least going into the
fourth corter you see if the Blue Doubles can go
on a run. As this continues, Reagan Sorenson eleven of
nineteen from the field in h one from beyond the arc,
one of five at the free throw line is goin
to struggle for her this evening six rebounds four as
well as not turn the ball over here tonight. You've
(01:57:52):
seen two willie two from two from Wagner and fine
from Amanda Geeson in this ballgame as well. Geeson's got
four found and she is on the bench currently. Natalie Runs,
the player of the Year this year and last year nationally,
has three fouls, but she has been playing well regardless
that she has seventeen points this evening and shooting forty
four percent. Are the Violets twenty one of forty eight
(01:58:14):
from the field and five of nineteen from beyond the arc.
They have out rebounded South thirty two to twenty eight,
and the points off of turnovers are the big difference
right now, twenty to six in favor of the Violets
here this afternoon evening again in a minute thirty six
left to go in the third quarter, Stout's gonna have
(01:58:36):
a good stretch here, trying to show that they can
get back into it. They got the lead down to
nineteen a few moments ago. It's back up to twenty
one and New York has the basketball and they will
inbound it in the front court year with Pepper. Pepper
gets it into Bruns, He's guarded by Sorenson with three pounds,
(01:58:59):
hands it out to Polechia and they got some trapped
buzz defense going on here for Stout. They're gonna try
to get some seals out of this and get some turnovers.
Pepper on the high left, the runs up top. They're
gonna try to find the pass underneath there. It is
block from behind my own of much Man saved in
by Nyu Pepper with a two point j from the
left wing. No, and it's rebound of my much as
the shot block was just kicking down Much gonna take
(01:59:20):
pressure from Bachelor. She gets past her initially. Now she'll
get it into the front court up to Sorenson. Sorensen
top of the key, Ober to shape her back to Sorenson. Sorenson,
looking to drive poked Away stays with it, however, then
poked Away again, but a foul called, this time on
Williamson and it'll be Stout Paul out of bounds. Fifty
six point six left to play here in the third
(01:59:41):
quarter and South down by twenty one Kee.
Speaker 2 (01:59:46):
Again.
Speaker 1 (01:59:46):
Nice to see a lot of Oshcosh fans here kind
of trying to pull for Stout as well as Allison
Letcher is gonna get a few moments here at the
end of the third quarter. First, Allison Letcher, signing the
senior from Wyndham, Minnesota, gonna get into the game. You
are a good three point specialist for Stout. Schaffer gets
it to Lecher Letcher out on the right wing. That
tough pass there for Wagner. Wagner does catch it, though
(02:00:08):
Wagner trying to get a screen, can't get any space.
They go to much in the right side of the
lane much with the spin move, goes up off the
window to contact Noel and she'll miss the shot. No
foul as well, and Bruns has it here for Nyu
as she'll get it up to Polechia and about a
thirteen second differential between game and shot block. At the
end of the third quarter, Nyu by twenty one HER's
(02:00:28):
Polechia moving right the back door. Cut's not there, Wagner
deflects it. Shaffer's got the steal. Shaefer gonna bring it
up and it'll be much and you're down twenty one.
I'm not sure they really want to hold. For the
final shot of the quarter, Wagner, she'll step into a
three at the top. She's fouled undercut by Polechia and
Wagner is gonna go to the line here for three
free throwings. She make it an eighteen point game. She
(02:00:54):
back in comes Behar here for NYU. Williamson with three fouls.
We'll check out now, Wagner at the line. Wagner scoreless tonight,
no partnershes two associate Alyssa Lodermeyer checking in for Allison
Letcher met You're one of the eight seniors as part
(02:01:17):
of this program this season. Wagner at the line. First
free throw good, Wagner seventy five free throw shooter on
the season, one of the best in the WIAC Seventeen
(02:01:37):
point five left here in the quarter. The second is
good as well, and that cuts it down under twenty
fifty five. Thirty six. Now NYU with the lead and
one more for Wagner, and that one will rattle off,
I have a much almost with the offensive board and
then Wagner with a quick deflection in the back court.
It will stay with NYU four SUPs here. They're gonna
(02:02:01):
get Wagner and Sorenson them out and bring Berg and
William defensively, just to make sure they save the foul
trouble on those two fifteen point eight to go here
in the quarter. NYU will try to hold for the
final shots. Stout down rather by nineteen Paleckia high wind
and the left guarded by mary Berg. Seven seconds, six
seconds pallechia Oo's right, Pelekia switches across to Pepper. Pepper
(02:02:24):
steps into a three that is way off the mark.
Offensive Boord Batchler with the putback rolls off and that'll.
Speaker 2 (02:02:30):
Be no good.
Speaker 1 (02:02:30):
And that is the end of the quarter. It's under
twenty fifty five thirty six NYU with the lead, and
Stout out scores NYU in that third quarter sixteen to fourteen.
This nineteen point margin is the margin that they won
by against wash You earlier this year. That was their
smallest margin of victory. So Stout will look to go
(02:02:51):
on a big run. They can go on a seven
eight oh run to start this fourth quarter. You never know.
Just get it under a little bit, then under a
little bit more, you get it under ten, and you
keep going. And that's gonna be the mindset here for
Stout as they get into the fourth quarter. Reagan Sorenston
with twenty three, Natalie Bruns, the player of the year
nationally with seventeen. Here for NYU, we will pause, we
(02:03:12):
come back. Fourth quarter is coming up right after this
here on your own form Blue Double Basketball. This is

Speaker 1 (02:03:55):
Now back to the NCED Double A Tournament right here
on News Talk wm EQ. We're back once again here
in Salem, Virginia, Rowano College of this beautiful Frager Center.
This is one of the best facilities you can see
in Division three. A beautiful kind of horseshoe design, all seatbacks.
(02:04:18):
They've got a gorgeous campus and gorgeous buildings. They've got
the screen or the curtains at the one end of
this arena closed right now. When they open those, you
got a beautiful look out onto the river outside as well.
And this is about as beautiful of ups facility as
you can get at the Division three level. And it's
been certainly a pleasure to be here this weekend to
(02:04:39):
watch the women's basketball Division three Final four. The second
game is Smith College out of the nest haack Up
in New England taking on uw oshcosh Oshcotch. Fans going
to try to help out the Blue Doubles. Fans who've
made the sixteen hour drive down from manani As. The
Blue Devils will have the basketball here to start the
fourth quarter. Down fifty five to thirty six to NYU.
(02:05:11):
Blue Devils have not made a three tonight yet. They
are zero of ten from beyond the arc. The last
time that Stout did not make the three in a game.
They got to go back to a non conference game
in December fourteenth to twenty nineteen, So what's spending a
long time Since that's happening, They're gonna need a few
here in this fourth quarter if they want to win.
(02:05:33):
Shafer gets bumped Polecki. It doesn't get called for the file.
That's tough. Shaeffer driving in left side of the lane,
bounces for much much spins, hangs in the lane, pops
it off that you'll know, turns some of the offensive rebounds.
She'll hang in fire enter Onto and n and the
Blue Doubles score fifty five to thirty eight. NYU, here's
some pressure from Stout. They get passed it pretty quickly
up ahead to Bachelor. Bachelor returns back to Pelechia and
(02:05:53):
they're gonna try to shorten this game a bit. Palkia
almost carries the basketball there. She was looking to pass
it off there. He comes out buzz zone defense from
south to Bruns in the short corner right side. Plechia
drives in from the top of the key through everybody
in the layups there to the buzz defense.
Speaker 2 (02:06:08):
Will herd shift?
Speaker 1 (02:06:09):
You're stout a little bit is sometimes those inside drives
can get away from you. Anna Much on the right wing,
finds Geeson trailing. She's got four files. Schaeffer loder Meyer
on the left side, out on the wing, looking into
the post. It's not there. Loder Meyer's passes tipped and
stolen away, tipped out top by Pepper and stewing away
by Bachelor or Bachelor to the front court. Finds Pepper
(02:06:29):
trailing on the left wing into Bruns. She'll catch, she'll shoot,
she'll fire, and she'll hit it. And just like that,
it's fifty nine thirty eight Nyu here over stout with
eight fifty to go. Sorenson on the high right wing.
Sorenson passes over for Much on the left side. It's
not open Bruns Defenser, it's Shaper instead in the corner.
Schaefer looking inside to Sorenson. She'll catch on the left block.
(02:06:51):
Tough shot. There, got a bad catch. I think Bachelor
gave her some pressure. Missed it on an airball right
near the hoop, but not too much pressure and kind
of caught in an awkward spot for her to make
that shot. And again here's the shortening of the game.
Pepper at the top, Lodermer hedges out on her as
she gets a screen. Now she'll move back left looking inside.
Speaker 2 (02:07:09):
Not there.
Speaker 1 (02:07:09):
Now they'll get it to Bruns in the post backing
down Anna much. Bruns hands it off, Bachelor going in
lay up good. There's the assist numbers for Bruns when
they start Gardner like Stout zooing right now, she'll just
pass it off to her teammates and they get some
really easy layups. Here's Geeson the other way, Stout down
by twenty three to the hoop, she'll go, she'll score
it right around Bahart. He's sixty one to forty NYU
(02:07:33):
seven fifty four left to play, and once again Bruns
she traveled this time and I got a little sped up.
I think she knows she was gonna have that much
space inside and she ended up shuffling the feet and
gets called for the travel to turnover. That is the
eleven turnover by NYU. In fact, tell you what, Stout
(02:07:55):
has done a great job in this second half not
turning the ball over. It's pretty impressive. You look at
the third quarter. The Stouts only turned it over once.
Is there comes Shape or Sorenson rather across the timeline.
Wagner gets a screen from Geeson, move it over to
much on the left wing, much trying to drive in,
(02:08:16):
trying to drive all the way, taking contact. Don't call
an one. She scores it up Pepper and she'll go
to the line for a free throw. Sixty one forty
two n YU seven thirty six left to play. Adam
out at the line. This team will not quit. Let
me tell you, he will not give up on this chance.
(02:08:41):
We've been to NYU. Is just that that good much
as free throw is good. Sixty one forty three NYU.
Here's Polekia, Polechia behind the back, dribble, Polechia between the wheels,
moves off right now for Pepper. Polechio back once again,
back between the circles, moves off now here for Brunt
on the left inside. Tough catch for Williamson. She does
(02:09:02):
get to it, they'll bachelor back out to Bruns. Bruns
traddled again, or they could have been calling that all
game instead, they've called it here in the fourth quarder,
which I guess is better late than never. But hopefully
it's not too little too late. And I'll just try
to think of a few more cliches before we get
this ball back in sixty one forty three. Nyu leads
it is Geeson, gets it to Sorenson and Sorenson we'll
(02:09:25):
take it up here for stout. Sorenson head down, look
at her go to the lane, kicks it out to Schaeffer.
She won't. She'll pass up the three. Rather gets it
to much in the corner much drives in. She'll go up,
layup not there runs had the long arms out, didn't
get a block. But it's got her into a bad spot.
Right now, they got to give the ball, either Wagner
for a three or Sorenson for a drive. That's got
to be it right now. Pepper I want and right,
(02:09:47):
guarded by Wagner. Six fifty five to go Nyu. By
eighteen Pepper moves left. Pepper picks up the dribble up
top for Williamson. Williamson guarded by Wagner. She'll get past
her and with the left hand she missed the layup
read out of by rak. Sorenson's got it and here
she comes the other way with the speed. Sorenson hesitates
at the top. Oh left open for two. Miss the
shot RELs up, tips about and it's grabbed by Nyu.
(02:10:09):
Even though Sorenson got thrown down by Bachelor. Bachelor will
give it up to Pellucky You, who takes it across
the mid court strife. Pollet you a high wind and
right guarded by Enna Much bounces for Bruns at the
top of the key inside the three point line. She'll
get it off to Pepper. Pepper on the right wing
looking for a shot. It's not there. Pepper back this
way and she's deflected by Sorenson. Out of bounds. We
(02:10:31):
tend to shoot and six fourteen to go. Something's gotta
start going Stout's way to get this eighteen point lead
chipped away at. It's been chipped away at slowly, but
not it's not enough. They go to Bruns in the lane.
Bruns took an extra step again, didn't call it Bachelor
for a left wing three no good. Wagner tips it
(02:10:51):
in the hands of Much. Now back to Wagner and
she's got the rebound. Oh then she dribbled off the
foot of Anna Much scooped up by Polucki, and the
layup is there. And man, when it's not your night,
it's notches on man sixty three forty three, NYU leads it.
Here's Sorenson on the right wing. Sorenson in the lane,
floats it out to Geeson in the left corner. Geeseon
(02:11:11):
into the lane, she takes contact, no good but a
foul on Bachelor inches heads of the line ze third
on Bachelor Marry Burd checks in for Sam Shafer. NYU
sixty three Stout forty three with five forty four excuse
(02:11:35):
me left to play Amanda Geeseon at the line. First
free throw is nothing but net. Amanda Geeson with that
free throw up to eight points. Tonight Sorenson the only
player in double figures with twenty five for Stout on
the other side, three Peluchia with twenty Bruns with nineteen
(02:11:57):
second free throw for Geeseon is good and Pepper, what's ten?
Eighteen point NYU lead sixty three forty five Polekia all
the way into the corner of Pepper. She wants the three.
She got it Timeout n YU sixty six forty five
here in favor of NYU. And they are just hitting
(02:12:21):
too many shots here against Stout tonight, and too many
big spots, and Stout unfortunately has not had a good
enough answer this evening. Stout O of ten from Beyond
the arc thirty five percent from the field and eighteen
mainfield goes out of fifty one, and twelve of the
makes are from Reagan Sorensen. This evening, NYU shooting forty
four percent six of twenty three now from beyond the arc,
(02:12:44):
and three of those have come from Caroline Pepper, the
junior from Southeastern Massachusetts who's forty first of the country
coming into the game and shooting the three pointer at
thirty eight point nine percent. We take a time out.
It's NYU sixty six stout forty five five thirty six
left to play here in the final four of the
National semi Final. You're on your home for blue level basketball.
(02:13:09):
This is the NC Double A Tournament right here on

Call Parkview Community Campus of Woodville, Wisconsin seven point five
(02:13:40):
six nine eight twenty four to fifty one and good
luck to the women's basketball team.
Speaker 1 (02:13:48):
Now back to the nc DOUBLEA Tournament right here on
News Talk wme EQ. Welcome back to Salem, Virginia at
Toronto College Brager Center, the site here of the national
semi final to Final four in twenty twenty five women's
basketball Division three in the NCAA and the Blue Douvils
(02:14:09):
trails sixty six to forty five here to NYU with
five to thirty six left to play. They for stout
a few moments in that first half, and they really
locked in defensively. They had NYU kind of out of
sorts on their offensive side. Stout couldn't go on a run.
They couldn't get their offense to get going, and that's
doing credit to NYU's defense, but they missed a bunch
(02:14:30):
of close layups and just could not figure out a
way to spark the run here tonight. And they've been
trying to do it in the second half, but they
have been coming up short, unfortunately, down by twenty one
with five to thirty six left to play. Now, I
seem to remember a game not so many or a
couple of years ago for the men's see for Stout.
They're down by eighteen with like three minutes left to go.
(02:14:51):
They had a three to win it back at Johnson
Fieldhouse and they missed it. So I've seen weirder things happen,
but this NYU team is likely it's them won't let it.
We'll see if they do. But man, if South could
just figure out a way to get a few buckets
to go in a row and maybe a couple of steels,
you never know. I thought that if Stout kept it
close in this contest into the fourth quarter that they'd
(02:15:13):
have a chance because NYU has not been in a
lot of close games. Unfortunately, this is not one of
them either, because this is not bene terribly close game.
But again, you could go on a run row quickly
and make it interesting. With five point forty six left
to play, Stout's got the basketball after the main three
by Carolyn Pepper and Anna Munch had a poked away.
(02:15:34):
She's gonna try to get it here. Oh big push,
It's got to be a foul foul on NYU and
is there a third of the quarter. Williamson's gonna get
called and Stout's got the ball on the bounds. Now
left to play. There's too much pressure from Nyu here
(02:15:55):
tonight Mutchell take it across the timeline here, you know
Sam Schaefer in there at the moment. You've got Mary
berg the freshman from a nominate. Here's much high, wide
and right. She'll give it to Geese and tough catch there,
but she makes it Keison back out too much ball
fake from three into the lane, free throw line jumper good.
Anna Much scores sixty six forty seven. Nyu here comes
(02:16:16):
the press for Stout. They got to kind of sell
off for it. Now Mary Bergen and put some pressure
on Plecki across the mid court stripe offer Williamson, and
now Stout's gonna She'll play man to man, but it's
gonna be pressure right up and Bruns his face is
Sorens and Sorenson's got four and then a moving's cream
put on Bruns. It's her fourth. Anna Much shook the
contact on the hand off there and runs laughs it off.
(02:16:40):
But that is her fourth on Bruns. So they can
get one more on her. Then you get her out
of the game and you can maybe get something going offensively.
As Meg Barber gives Kishel here near side of the business,
Christian Santos here's Anna Much barby Maggie do All rather
Anna Much gets the screen there from Reagan Sorenson Much
on my high right wing to move it to Geese
(02:17:01):
and Geeson gonna drive in on Bruns with the left hand.
Didn't want to pick up her fifth poule, let her
by and let her score sixty sixty nine. Nyu Paleckia
across the timeline with four thirty three ago foul call
on mary Berg, and that's why I think she was in.
There was a pressure the ball handler to the point
where they call the foul. It's only mary Berg's first
(02:17:22):
stout down by seventeen. As both Lodermeyer and Willie are
gonna check in the game before Gaeson and Sorenson their defensively,
and now hann Iverson's going to kind of play the
exchange game here to try to get her players to
have bowel trouble out when they're on defense. The problem
is those are both two really good defenders as well.
Here's Poleechia between the circles, gets a screen from runs
(02:17:44):
Moo's left, falls over, loses out of bounds. Still basketball, yeah,
stell ball, I mean they threw they lost it. They
just tripped over their own player's feet. Palechia fell I
think she tripped on Williamson. Sorensen the shape you're going
to get back into the game. Eson is also going
to get back in there as well. Can you switch
(02:18:08):
out the offense for defense situation and they're gonna take
Wagner out. So the only non starter who's in there
per scout is Willy, who inbounds it to Shaffer Shaeffer
for Willie. Willie, you'll take it across the timeline, stout
down by seventeen. Here's much out at the mid stripe circle.
We're on the oh the rowano and she dribbles left,
looking to go inside to Sorenson and said Willy in
(02:18:29):
the corner. Now on to Geeson on the left wing.
Geeson looking to drive. She'll dribble right, gets cut off
by Pepper, hand off to Sorenson. Sorenson in the lane,
hangs and fires a tube, misses it, missus as it
hits the front rim and crawls over for Polecki. A's
rebound Pilecki on the high left of three fifty five
left to play. It's n Yu sixty six stout forty
nine NYU holding the ball Stout trying to make some
(02:18:52):
noise here the fans anyway, is here's a drive in
by Pepper and much called for a hand check and
a much as second found second balloon Stout in that
quarter as well. Get Wagner modermyern Burke back in there.
Apparently the official is not liking Alanna Matri was talking
(02:19:14):
to Stound's got six players on the field, yeah, And
the officials said, hey, there's six players, and that it
was Ryan Nuniaz who just gave the ball there as well,
the saying there should be a tea. But it's the
officials fault. They knew there were six players out there
because Nunias who gave the ball to Nyu on the
inbound And now Mary Berg's getting called for the foul.
(02:19:37):
And now Ryan Nuniaz thinks that Mary Burke gets something
she shouldn't know. They're going to talk to her. Okay,
I'm not sure what this is all about. Three forty
three left to play here in the fourth, NYU sixty
six and New York pardon me, is Stout forty nine?
And now Scout's going to start fouling here. Loder Meyer
gets called for a block and as Poleechia receives the inbounds,
(02:20:01):
that's a poor falling side. Think they're trying to foul
and get him to the line now and try to
shorten this game a little bit. They've given all the
fouls they have to give, so both teams will be
in the bonus. Now for the final three p forty
two left of this contest, sixty six forty nine, Nyu
and Bruns will receive this ball in the back court,
(02:20:22):
and now Scout's gonna play some defense. Bruns picks up
the dribble and they're just going all out here, putting
some pressure on Polleckia. Pialechia, guarded by Bird, crosses her over,
moves left gout out to the wing. Willie picks her
up defensively on a switch he stopped playing some zone
inside and she will lose the basketball, picks it back
up on the right block, and a foul called on
Really if Sun wanted to double dribble or a travel
(02:20:42):
didn't get it instead, Willy gets called for the foul.
A fourth I believe, and a pardon me? Just still
get Shafer, Geeson and Sorenson back in now and as
Polechio will hand me the line for two free throws
Pelukia seventy seven percent on the season. U A Rookie
(02:21:06):
of the Year back in twenty twenty two, Honorable Lension
UAA twenty twenty three, an All Region last year and
this year as well. And Peleckia's first free throw rattles
in sixty seven nine New York with the lead here
with three twenty three left to play, Oscott shakes on
Smith a half an hour after our game. Second free
throw rattles in sixty eight nine NYU with the lead,
(02:21:31):
Shaffer across the timeline for Stout. Shafer remember to Much
in the left corner. Gotta take a three here. I
think if you're Stout, gotta get an open one. Sorenson
with a drive isn't a bad idea either. She'll take
it and shall miss it inside as Bachelor gave her
the pressure, and it's now New York Basketball. Paluckia brings
it across three minutes left to play n YU six
(02:21:54):
the eight Stout forty nine. Here's runs at the top
of the key. Williamson up top to Pepper, Pepper crosses
over on Much, gets the give and go. Much grabbed
on to her before she caught it. She'll head to
the blind for two. Made the bucket but won't count
(02:22:16):
Ana much gets called for her third foul. He didn't
have her in the game on the stat system, so
you're gonna have to make that change as somebody was
asleep at the wheel. Free throw is good from Pepper,
a ninety two percent free throw shooter, one of the
best in the country. Second one will go as well,
(02:22:37):
and it's a seventy to a forty nine lead here
for NYU over south Reagan Sorenson, high wind and right
driving on Bachelor. She'll go up at the right hand
and score it seventy to fifty one. NYU Sorenson with
that bucket up to twenty seven. Now Pepper gets pressure
from Sorenson as she gets it into the front porch runs.
(02:23:01):
Give us the ball off here for Pepper. You're going
between the circles. With two twenty to play and NYU
up nineteen. NYU fans starting to make some noise if
they know that they are headed to Saturday. As they
throw it off here to Batcher in the right block.
They tied it up. No call, kick it out to Bruns.
She wants the three. She's missed the three and it's
much with the rebound much up ahead and the sorens
(02:23:24):
and tough catch, and she'll make it in the right corner.
Sorenson picks it up, needs help, gets it off to Geeson,
Eson has it, Eson spins Wagner on the right wing,
Wagner trying to take a shot, there's no space to shoot.
Sorenson drives to the hoop. They'll let her score twenty
nine points. Swanson to night, seventy and fifty three NYU
(02:23:45):
a time. I'll take it here by the Blue Devils
with one forty three to go. Too much NYU here tonight.
They are on a quest sixty straight wins. Coming into
this game. I liked Stout chances of the underdog trying
to get the upset today, and they're at times, especially
(02:24:07):
defensively that first half where it looked like they could
do it. But the defense of New York is just
too darn good, just too much pressure, too much length,
and they got Stout sped up for just a few moments,
went on some big runs in that second quarter that
(02:24:28):
led them on to scoring outscoring Stout nineteen to seven
in the second. So I don't only getting seven points
in that second quarter, and for me, that was the
difference tonight, that second quarter that really could have turned
into something for Stout turned into an absolute nightmare. And
the Blue Devils will have Willie Berg, much Wagner and
(02:24:50):
Shaper on the floor consolation tonight is going to be
the Reagan Sorens and becomes a program's all time leading scorer.
But she would trade that for a win tonight in
a heartbeat. N y you going to take pressure here
from Stout. They may try to foul, We'll see. I
(02:25:11):
think there's too much of a lead as there's almost
a steal, and now a fowl is called almost to
travel on by are parted me on Pepper across the timeline,
and so Bahart will head to the line for Pepper
excuse me here to shoot to it again a ninety
free throw shooter. NYU is not out of field goal
(02:25:36):
in the last four minutes. About that, William sent will
check in here for bar and NYU might start to
do some curtain calls for some of their players. They
are as advertised, folks, it's a really really good team
(02:25:58):
here at NYU. Pepper will make the free throw and
she'll make the second as well. Seventy two fifty three
here in favor of n Yu won thirty to go
Schafer across the timeline. She'll move left, picks up pressure
(02:26:19):
from Polechia, hand it off to Much much guard by Williams,
and Much crosses over on her much trying to score
her last field goal attempt misses it. Wagner couldn't get
the rebound, pops out to Pepper one nineteen to go
across the timeline. They come a nice passer and transition
to back to with Plachia. She'll score. Seventy four fifty
three NYU bat passer for Sorenson. They'll tip to Wagner
(02:26:42):
on the right wing into Geeson. Geston gonna drive to
the hoop blocked inside by Bruns, taken away by Badge,
and NYU will slow it down. Seventy four fifty three
NYU with the lead. They might take the shock block
violation here. It still a little bit of time left, say,
might not. New York fans gonna make some noise and
(02:27:04):
Stout is going to try to get a curtain call
for their players. Here comes Pepper, crossing over with five
to shoot. Pepper at the top of the key offer bachelors.
She'll step into a three that is well off the
mark remount of Biana much. Let's see if Stout takes
a substitution time out here and they will not up
ahead to Wagoner, nice catch a nice lay up the
(02:27:25):
other way. Seventy four fifty five NYU NYU will start
their NYU chan't and a nice moment there for NYU
is Meg Barber will take a time out and just
a substitution timeout, and they will allow these Stout seniors
(02:27:48):
to walk off with their heads held high. Here tonight
the first time in program history that this school has
gotten to the final four, and they have. They'll cry tonight,
there's no doubt about that, but they have absolutely nothing
to be sad about. Reagan Sorenson, the program's all time
(02:28:10):
leading scorer, getting hugs from everybody, along with Lexi Wagner
Anna Mutch, who's just the heart and soul of this team.
That's tough, honest.
Speaker 2 (02:28:24):
The final horn.
Speaker 1 (02:28:25):
Sounds and NYU is headed to the National Championship Game
with a seventy four fifty five win over Stout the
Blue Devils match. Watch you for the smallest margin of
victory for a NYU in any other games this season.
(02:28:45):
NYU is one hell of a team and well, I
know a Scotch and Smith are very good. It's a
different level, but NYU plays it. Yeah, I think you
know the South fans paying around there will be a
few they'll rook for Oshcosh tonight on Saturday at Boshkosh
can make it.
Speaker 2 (02:29:05):
NYU team is.
Speaker 1 (02:29:08):
Really really good. Tough moments here for Stout. I think
you know, if they've lost last week, I think there'll
be four tiers. There's not really a lot of tiers.
Just sends out celebrates with their fans about two or
three sections or a tier that have shown up tonight,
and they salute their fans here as well, and the
former players and students who showed up all the way
(02:29:30):
down here in Sale, Virginia tonight. Heck of a ballgame
here this evening. A seventy four fifty three win for NYU.
We will pause for two minutes, come back with our

Now back to the NCUBLEA Tournament right here on news
Talk wm EQ to talk back in here to the
Kraiger Center on the campus Arono College in Salem, Virginia.
The final four underway and now one game done, and
NYU has punched their tickets at the championship game with
(02:32:21):
a seventy four to fifty five win over the Uwstown
Blue Doubles. Here tonight, I'm P. Kanutson, and you are
listening on news Dot, WMQAMA and ad ME, Nominee Translator,
W two nine two EG one A six point three
FM Claire and iHeartRadio Station, especially thanks Dan Price back
in studio again. There is a ten minute cool down
period here at the end of a game, and so
we likely won't be able to get to Hannah Iverson
(02:32:43):
or a player up here. They have to give a
press conference and do media and all that kind of
stuff here tonight as well, So likely we will roll
through this final segment of our coverage here of the
uw Sout women's basketball team here in the NCAA Tournament.
It has been awfully impressive what they have been able
to do. That NYU team, though, is a different breed
in a different situation with how they have been able
(02:33:06):
to play this season. And Stout loses by nineteen and
that is the smallest margin of victory for NYU this season,
which I guess is I mean, it's not really a consolation,
but it does show you that there are some really
good teams out there as well. Who the Blue Devils
you could compare to. But NYU is on a different
level and I'll be shocked if they don't win on
(02:33:28):
Saturday against either of these teams. And Oshkosh and Smith
they're very good, but I've seen Oshkosh play in person,
and I'd imagine this next game is going to be
pretty close. I can't imagine Smith or Oshkosh is even
close to the level of what we just saw from NYU.
Let's look at the final stats here for him today's game.
We'll start with the team stats. Scout shoots thirty eight
(02:33:49):
percent and oh of ten from beyond the arc, because
that was twenty three of sixty from the field in
this game. The oh of ten mark is the first
time Stout has not hit a three in a game
in six years. There's for of the Blue Devils there
as they go oh ten, Lexi Wagner just did not
have the space. And before we get too much further
into that, I'll say this as well, now that the
season is over, Lexi's Wagner Lexi Wagner's knee is like
(02:34:11):
shot like she hasn't been able to run at anywhere
close to her normal space, to be able to cut
at her normal pace, because she wanted to play her
last year of eligibility. She knows she's graduating from stout.
She knows this is the last or raw. There's no
other there's no other team, there's no other time to
play college basketball. Her knee was a mess this whole season,
but she wanted to play through it. She said, the
(02:34:32):
heck with it. It's an effort that I don't think
you'd see for most women's or men's players, or any
college athlete dealing with the injuries she was on. And
that's again gonna be one of those where I think
when you look back on this season, you get to
the Final four, which is great, but you're also gonna
think what could have been if Lexi Wagner had a
healthy knee after all the bangs and bruises and extra
issues that she had this season with it earlier in
(02:34:54):
the year. Nonetheless, that is a sideline, a side storyline,
if you will. As again, Blue Doubles went twenty three
of sixty from the field, nine of fifteen at the
free throw line for NYU. They did shot lower than
they normally do forty four percent. Souts defense was great
against some. In fact, they only made twenty seven field
goals in comparison to the twenty three that Stout made. However,
(02:35:15):
twenty seven six of those twenty seven were three pointers,
which was a big piece of why they were able
to push on for the win. They were also fourteen
of seventeen at the line. They outrebounded the Blue Doubles
forty three to thirty four. In this game. They turned
over Stout fifteen times, but tell you what I mean,
NYU turned over thirteen times. They ended up equaling out.
(02:35:36):
It was just when the turnovers happened and the points
off of turnovers, which were well in favor of NYU
tonight twenty four to thirteen. They scored outscort Stout in
the points off of turnovers category as well. Here this
evening they're also outscored Stout forty two or twenty four
excuse me, to eight in fast break points as well.
Points in the paint were pretty even forty two to forty.
(02:35:58):
By the end of the nights Out only they had
four buckets, though that they had assists on only four
field goals. Tonight, whereas Nyu had to assist on fifteen
of the twenty seven field goals that they made this evening.
All right, individually, where do you start? You start with
Reagan Sorenson twenty nine points for her she beats and
breaks Julia Hursik's all time scoring record in Stout history.
(02:36:20):
So Reagan Sorenson will end her Stout career with those
twenty nine points at one thousand, seven hundred and fifty
four points, which will be what sixteen points ahead of
Julia Hrsig When all is said and done, so, Reagan
Sorenson will be honored as the top scorer in Stout history.
(02:36:40):
I'd imagine there'll be a halftime or two next year
well where they'll bring Reagan back and give her about
it as many gifts and trophies and things that you
can there as well. As she is now the all
time leading scorer in program history. She scores twenty nine,
Anna Much scores seven. Anna Much ends her career with
one thousand, four hundred and forty nine points in her career,
(02:37:02):
fourth on the all time scoring list behind Julia Mackie,
Julia Hersig, and her teammate Reagan Sorensen and for Amanda Geeson. Tonight,
Geson scores eleven points. She ends her career with one
three and thirty career points in sixth place all time,
again behind Kelsey do us, Anna Much, Julie Mackie, Julia Hersig,
(02:37:24):
and then the program's all time leading score in Reagan Sorensen.
Lexi Wagner had seven, but nothing from beyond the arc
for her tonight it was two as well from Rosella Willie,
and then it ends the scoring. The only other points
out sound of that beforeheaded monster fertut where those two
from Rosella, Willie Willy will be a starter on this
team next year. I'd imagine, I'm just gonna do my
(02:37:45):
predictions now. I'd imagine Rosella Willie, Mary Berg, Julia ran Backy,
Madison Malika, and then pick your fifth starter. There are
going to be your starting lineup starting the year next year.
At course, luck and change a lot can happen, certainly,
but a heck of a moment there for Stout tonight
for the NYU Violets, they're led by Palechias and she
gets twenty two points. Pepper had seventeen, Bruns had nineteen
(02:38:08):
as well and eight from Behart, eight from Bachelors. That
closes out things. Only five players scoring brand Yu Tonite,
but it was certainly enough here this evening. Polekia had
seven assists, Runs had five as well. She ends with
eight rebounds and not a double double for her this evening.
Playing thirty five minutes for the Violets. Reagan Sorenson played
(02:38:30):
thirty minutes tonight, was pretty good for Alin. She had
some issues with foul trouble just a minute and a
half into this game. I think that'll be the other
thing that sticks out of my head. She doesn't pick
up her second foul Reagan Sorenson with a minute thirty
into the first quorter. I think this is a vastly
different game. But that early foul trouble in the early
aggression defensively from Reagan Sorens and ended up being the
(02:38:50):
Blue Devils Achilles heel here tonight, you wondered how the
game was going to be called in here in Roanoke.
You got officials who aren't from you know, Region nine
region and I think when you come from a physical
league and officials see that physicality for the first time,
a lot of times they try to call it tight,
and unfortunately the calls went against the program's leading scorer
(02:39:12):
and Regan Sorenson. Now that really ended up changing the
complexion of that game. That's not to blame the officials
or anything like that. It's just to say that again,
it was one of those where I think that really
changed a complexion of this contest this evening.
Speaker 2 (02:39:24):
So that'll do it.
Speaker 1 (02:39:25):
NYU with a seventy four to fifty five win over
UW Stout tonight. And I gotta tell you it's been
certainly great. We haven't been able to be on the
radio all season long, but we of course we're on
the YAX Sports Network from the opening tip this season
in Johnson field House, and it was certainly fun to
have our great video crew with us to Ben Tierman
and all his great video staff, and on Lauren Skyler
(02:39:47):
are a couple of our other video producers who did
a great job. We had camera operators go lower there.
We put on a great I think a great production.
For being a small state Division III school in the
UW Stout we get a three to four camera setup
going on. We make it especially as we can, and
I think we do a great job of it there,
so I know we haven't being unable to be on
the radio all season. We were on the video all
year as well, and need did a great job. But
(02:40:08):
to be here on the radio and back on the
radio and to call games on the road, I forget
how much I miss calling games on the radio. It's
a different level of fun. I think.
Speaker 9 (02:40:17):
You know.
Speaker 1 (02:40:17):
I guys, I'm biased or whatever you want to say,
but I calling games on the radio way more than
on the video. Maybe that's because of my face. I'm
not sure, but nonetheless I love it. And it was
certainly a lot of fun to bring to these last
five games too. I know we brought you a couple
of games there at the end of the regular season
as well, or the end of the Quayax season and
so on, and those were a lot of fun to
bring to you. And I think it was also fun
(02:40:38):
for our guy back in studio, Dan Price, who has
been the producer on the radio side for ump teen years,
and that's a that probably is over twenty, i'd say,
at least for Dan, and he's been along for the
ride back in those teams. It made the NCAA Tournament
back in five, six oh seven and was there for
those as well. He was right back with us last
(02:40:59):
year when Out of Course made their way into the
NCAA tournament, and this year as well. Here on this
amazing run into the final four. This is the best
team in Stout history. I don't think there's any way
to say it, any other way to say it. This
team will go down as the best team in Stout history.
Hopefully there's another best team in South history that does
(02:41:20):
more right, that makes a better run, that makes a
run all the way to the championship game, that wins
the national championship Game. It is going to be a
really tough quarter of play. So anna much the heart
and soul that UW South Blue Doubles team, along with
the programs leading scorer of Reagan Sorenson, an amazing slasher
in Amandac Eason, an amazing three point shooter in Lexi Wagner,
(02:41:41):
the leagues, buy my money, the league's best defender in
Sam Shaper. There as well in players Galaora, Lisa Lonermyer,
Alison Letcher, and of course Sophie Moran, who is not
medically cleared to play this season with an injury, but
was a student manager who just poured her heart and
soul into the team from the bench as well. Those
eight seniors will be sorely, sorely missed going forward, but
(02:42:03):
next season brings new opportunities for this Blue Devil team.
We're gonna see some freshmen who showed some really, really
exciting signs next year, and I'm really excited to see
where Hannah iverson this team's heart and soul as well,
this team's head coach and one heck of a head coach,
and I just hope she gets to stay here at
Stout for a long long time because, let me tell
(02:42:24):
you this, a D one program would be very, very
lucky to have Hanna Iberson. I think we here at
Stout are very lucky to have her at the helm
of this program as well. So I'm looking forward to
what that team looks like as well. Chris Kyleie Hebert
now Kylie Fanning, one of the assistant coaches, one of
the great Stout players as well, has been pregnant all season.
She is eight days seven days away now from being due.
(02:42:47):
She made it all the way here and so we
certainly hope her and her husband well with their firstborn
child as well. And it was certainly a lot of
fun to get to meet and know Brooke Olsen in
her first season as an assistant coacher for Stout and
I'm sure on the horizon for her in a head
coaching gig one day, but we'd like to keep her
around as an assistant coach for a few more years
(02:43:07):
as well. A special things as always to Casey Parrott
r SI do has provided us so many game notes
and so many great ideas and so many great stats
throughout the course of this season. And to doing that's
the athletic director for the Blue Doubles. I think I
can announce it. I think it's public knowledge that he'll
be retiring at the end of this academic year. And boy,
he has just been great and just been a great
(02:43:30):
person and a great guy to have around this program.
And of course to Aaron Sullivan, who's the assistant athletic director,
and she has been behind the scenes doing everything and
anything to make sure this team gets from one location
eight location be in the best possible shape and she's
done a great job of that all season long. And
of course we can't and without thanking Chancellor Frank who
has been sidelined for every game during this postseason run
(02:43:53):
in at every home game as well. She is as
much a Stout fan and bleeds blue as anybody that
you will ever fine, So it has been great to
bring it to you. Special thanks to my wife and child,
who I think I'll see tomorrow since we'll probably get
the home flight home tomorrow as well, but special thanks
to them for making it happen all season long and
letting me get to all these games for this amazing
(02:44:16):
team all season because they are one heck of a
team and they are going to be a missed team
next season when they had when eight of these players
head onto their quote unquote real lives and they get
to do that, but they are one half to a
team to watch it and spend my absolute pleasure and
honor to get to just be courtside and just get
to watch you just get to be a fan and
(02:44:38):
get to see this team do what it does, and
what it did was make a Final four for the
first time in program history, which is pretty special. Again,
a special thanks to that Price back in studio and
everybody who made the broadcast happen, including our amazing sponsors.
You hopped on to this these great broadcasts and these
great productions all season long for Dan Beck and Studio
on Pecanots and your final score from the final four
(02:44:59):
here in Salem, Virgini. It's the championship game bound n
YU Violence, the number one ranked team in the country.
Seventy four your uw stun Blue doubles fifty five Chris Connor.
I'm route third comer.
