twenty two. Stoutly live from Whitewater, Wisconsin. It's the Sweet sixteen matchup
between the UW Stout Blue Devils andthe Transylvania University Pioneers. How how sweet
it is. The Blue Devils keepdancing. They'll be dancing next weekend in
the Sweet sixteen against Transylvania's the BlueDevils win from sixty one to forty over

(00:53):
the Loggers. Your Devils are cookinghere tonight now live from Ketchel Gymnasium in
Whitewater, Wisconsin. The Voice ofthe Blue Devils Pete Knutson. Indeed,
we are live from Whitewater, Wisconsin, and it is the Sweet sixteen in
the Division three women's basketball Terminie Peaekutsenshould be an exciting one here this afternoon.

(01:14):
We're happy to have you along withus here on Newstok, WMQ Amaadium
and IMI one oh six point threeFmno Player, WMQ dot com and iHeartRadio.
Our producer tonight is Dan Price.Well, the Blue Devils with wins
last week over a really good washYoued team and then a Puget Sound team
that had upset Carol in the openinground, and they get to this sweet
sixteen, and boy, what aweek it has been getting ready for this.

(01:36):
The Blue Devils one of three YAXteams who made the Sweet sixteen in
the women's basketball tournament. Of course, one of those, Whitewater. They're
hosting here this regional and they willbe playing Hope later tonight. A chance
that we could see a rematch ofthe YAX semi final here at Ketchel Gymnasium
tomorrow night of Stout in Whitewater canwin, but in front of Stout is
a defending national champion, sixty twogame winning streak for Transylvania. They played

(02:00):
in the Heartland Conference College Athletic Conference, and they play in a conference I
think if you thinking about a comparisonright to men's basketball you think maybe a
Gonzaga. They're a really good teamin a really bad conference, right,
so they don't get tested a tonin January and February. But last year
it didn't matter. They went undefeated, beat Christopher Newport in the championship game
down in Dallas to win their firstnational championship in school history. They are

(02:23):
on the eighth longest winning streak inany sport at any level of NCAA in
the history of the NCAA at sixtytwo games. The Blue Devils they are
on a streak of their own. They've won eleven games in a row,
including wins in the WYAK Tournament hereagainst Whitewater in the semi final and at
Oshkosh. The other two conference tournamentessentially NCAA Tournament teams that came out of

(02:46):
the Wayak. So the Blue Devilsare battle tested. That's what the WYAK
does. The WYAK, you couldcompare it to the best conference in anything,
right, SEC in football, theBig Twelve in basketball, doesn't matter.
Right, they are the best conference, hands down, and they have
been battle tested for the last twomonths. It's going to be a great
matchup between Transylvania and Stout here today. We're looking forward to it. We're
gonna take a break though. Wewill have the head coach of the Blue
Devils, Hannah Iverson, join usright after this. It's the NCAA Tournament.

Woodville. And back in for morepregame coverage as we get set forced out
versus Transylvania here in the Sweet sixteen, Head coach of the Blue Devils,
hann Iverson joins us coach, appreciatetaking the time as always, congrats on
getting here to the Sweet sixteen.Let's talk about, you know, just
kind of what this has meant sofar the first two games. Obviously tough
game against wash you you guys kindof wrote out. Maybe an interesting turnaround

(04:43):
there against Puget, sound of thatsixty one to forty win. But you
get to this point. What's itbeen like this last week kind of prepping
for a Sweet sixteen runner. It'sfun. I think that's been part of
it, has been just trying tosoak in every moment as it comes.
We just actually had the alumni fromthe six seven teams that made it back

(05:03):
to back and they sent us justlittle notes and messages in the form of
a video and it was just reallycool and really powerful and just about how
much those moments last forever and aboutit's the tiny little things, right,
It's not so much the game,it's the bus rides and the hotels and
things like that. And so forour girls just to be able to soak
that up, because I think whenyou're in it, you're in like mission

(05:25):
mode, right, You're working onwhat the scout says, what this game
is going to bring, and howyou can do it. So finding little
moments and little ways to have ourgirls be able to just understand how what
they're doing and how cool it is. I mean, sixteen teams is a
special thing to be a part of, and I think our community and our
campus have really gotten behind us,and it's just been such a powerful thing
for these girls to get to experience. All Right, we're obviously excited for

(05:46):
a Transylvania team that's undefeated sixty twoin a row. We know all the
stats on them, defending national champions, but I imagine that you know your
team after what you guys did inthe YAC tournament and really what you have
done this whole eleven game winning streakand even earlier in the season, Right,
you guys gotta feel like you canbeat anybody out there, And I'd
imagine that that's part of the messageas you go in. What is that
message here against a really good Transylvaniasquad. Yeah, I think the message

(06:10):
is a really good Transylvania squad alsohas to play a really good stout squad,
and I think they're they're watching ourfilm and thinking some of the same
things that we're thinking. Yeah, phenomenal offensive team. They've got a defensive
scheme that is very zone based, and so to be able to break it
down is more meticulous and some moredetail based things than what we like to
do in the five out. ButI think that's been one of the things

(06:31):
I spoke to you about this afterat Carol when we were there, just
about our team's ability to be competitivelymature and make some of those adjustments on
the run. And so I thinkwe're excited about this. The nice thing
is it doesn't matter what your recordis, it doesn't matter what your win
streak is. This we're zero andzero going into this game, and I
think for us that's a really goodthing. I think for them too.
I mean we are excited to havethis place packed with people screaming Go Blue

(06:55):
Devils and excited for the environment thatit provides. But we're going into there
like this is just any other opponent. All right, Coachie, appreciate you
taking the time with us. Goodluck, and we look forward to chatting
with you after the game. ThanksPete san Iverson. We'll have more and

welcome you back in here to KetchellGymnasium. We are out ready for basketball
between Stout and Transylvania and the Sweetsixteen. The winner of this game plays
a winner of Hope versus Whitewater latertonight. It's part of the Whitewater Regional

(08:56):
again. We'll talk more about thestorylines in this game coming in Transylvania than
the number two ranked team in thecountry. They feel like they should be
hosting, but due to NCAA rules, Stout too far to go to Transylvania.
But Whitewater is not too far forStout and Transylvania and Hope All to
come to. They're within the fivehundred mile radius, and so Transylvania feels
a little bit a grieved that they'renot hosting. As a sixty two game

(09:18):
n ROW winner and defending national championcoming into tonight's play gonna be a fun
one here this afternoon, that isfor sure. Let's give you the starting
lineups for both teams. We'll startwith Transylvania Sadie Worth, a junior from
Dixon, Kentucky. She's five footfour the point guard. We'll start alongside
Sydney Wright, the senior from Cynthiana, Kentucky. She will start alongside Kennedy

(10:03):
have Sam Shafer at the starting spot. The senior from Dforest, Amanda Geese
will start. She's a senior fromNew Brak, Minnesota. It is Reagan
Sorenson, the junior from Unity whowill start, along with that of Much
the senior from Apple Valley, Minnesota, and Lexie Wagner the final start of
the grand transfer from Gaylesville and geta transfer from Youngstown State and Mercyhurst as
well. Here are the announcements. There we will have the announcement of the

(12:16):
the of the There's a national anthemhere from Ketchel Gymnasium. We are ready
for basketball. You know, theBlue Devils winning here as part of the
WIAC semi finals in the tournament,it was the first time the Blue Devils

(12:37):
had beat Whitewater at Whitewater since twothousand and seven, and you know,
I was thinking back on it today. I've been calling Stout games since twenty
fourteen, and for the Blue Devils, I don't know if I've ever been
on this campus in sas Stout win. It was the first time they probably
was since I've been broadcasting for Stoutand I mean football, men's basketball,

(12:58):
women's basketball. Of course, theBlue Devils have been a heck of a
time trying to win against the WhitewaterWarhawks here. The befl beautity of today
is that they don't have to playWhitewater. They have to play Transylvania,
just the number two ranked team inthe country, a team that, of
course is riding a sixty two gamewinning streak. I talked about the mileage
and the rules of the NCAA.Transylvania hosted both the opening round and the

(13:20):
regionals last year on their way tothe national championships. So they feel like
they should be at home today. Is that going to affect them? We'll
see. They brought a good contingentfrom Kentucky. It's about a seven hour
drive from Lexington, Kentucky. Andof course we know the other big team
in Lexington, right, the KentuckyWildcats. And we know the basketball runs
deep in the state of Kentucky certainly, and it does for this Transylvania team.

(13:43):
Transylvania a small liberal arts private school. They are the sixteenth oldest university
in all of the United States. They're the oldest university in Kentucky. You
know, they produced two different vicepresidents, they produced two different supreme They
were justices or graduates in Transylvaniansadajia Thornton. He's going to join the Peace Corps

(14:05):
when she graduates. She speaks fivedifferent languages. Right. This is a
university that is steeped to academic tradition, that steeped in tradition in general,
and tradition now in basketball as well. For the Blue Devils. The first
last time the Blue Devils were intothe Sweet sixteen was two thousand and five
and two thousand and six. Theylost both of those Sweet sixteen that Jumps
didn't get any furvios. The questionis can they get further tonight. There

(14:26):
are alumni, there are students, there are supporters, there are boosters,
there are community members. Our oldfriend Steve Schwantz and made the trip down
here to Whitewater as well to takein today's game. There are so many
folks who are trying to take inthis potential run to a Elite eight if
they could win tonight and then ofcourse to a Final four in Columbus next
weekend. If that is in thecards, will it be? We'll find

(14:50):
out. Hanna Iverson the head coachof the Blue Devils in her sixth season
eighty nine and fifty three. TheOak Blaire North graduate Julie Fulks is the
head coach of Transylvanian in her twentiethseason. She's just two wins away from
four hundred in her career. TheBlue Devils in the alternate gray uniforms they
move right to left here in thefirst half with the blue numbers. Transylvania
in the road black uniforms with themaroon numbers outlined in white. They move

(15:11):
left to right, ball in theair and dejah Thornton will win it here
for Transylvania. And we are underwayin the Sweet sixteen here in the NCAA
tournament. Man that defense chat youhear is from the Blue Devils students who
made the trip here. A littlegibb and go from the left elbow area,
but unable to make a shot. There is Kennedy Stacy on the right
block. We'll move it out backto Kennedy Stacy. After handoff to right.

(15:33):
Stacey guarded on the right wing byReagan's sorts and crosses over Anna Much
helps the two point Jay is toostrong, tipped out of there. Who's
gonna grab it? Transylvania does. That's Sydney right in the left corner.
Now a double team on worth deflectedpass gets up to the left wing to
right right with it with a newtwenty. She'll drive all the way to
the lane on wager top shot.Dejah Thornton goes over the top of Much
back up, no tips out.Still Transylvania at the ball. The Blue

(15:54):
Devils can't get a rebound out tothe wing of three from the right corner.
That's an airball thrown up Much tooksome contact, but it's gonna stay
with Transylvania. As dejah Thornton wasagain over the back of Much, she
tried to grab the ball, gota little bumped. No call. It'll
be out of bounds to Transylvania withthirteen to shoot, nine to twelve to
go. Here in the first quarter, no possession yet for Stout. Dejah

(16:15):
Thornton receives a baseline inbounds pass atthe left elbow. They go up top
to Lake and ball fall guarded byGeeson. She'll step into a three that's
too strong as well. Dejah Thorntonagain with the long rebound. She'll drive
in and she will make the layup. And you can't give a team that
many chances. And here comes thepress for Transylvania. Now they'll do this
at times, not a ton,but they'll do it enough to kind of

(16:36):
throw you out of your half courtset is. Here's Aman de Geeson from
the right wing, deflective pass outto the left wing to Shaper and it's
stolen away by Worth. Worth goesthe other way. The layup will go.
It's put up in Pioneers tough starthere for Stout, Shaper up to
Sorensen, up to Wagner. Wagnergonna bring this one ahead Wagner for Shaffer
out of Sorenson on the left wingzone defense from the Pioneers much at the

(16:57):
left elbow corner. Three four Wagner. That is no good but a foul.
She was found on the shot byThornton and the Blue Devils get three
free throws. Your officials for tonight'sgame, Alyssa Perko, Stave Madazuski and
jeffs Meeks. Now Stave Matazuski isa Yak official, But that was called
by Jeff Meeks. Well, they'resaying that's not on the shot. How

(17:19):
is that not on the shot? And they're gonna stay She landed, I
guess and then was foul. Butthat makes no sense. And here's Wagner
over to much on the right wing. She'll switch it back to Wagner on
the left wing. They go insideto geeseon She'll take a dribble up and
under. It was blocked inside byball and it's taken away by the Pioneers
for nothing. Transylvania leads eight tento go first quarter Transylvania with it Anna

(17:42):
much being up inside there with Thornton, who's trying to post stuff on her.
To go left wing to Stacy.Stacey hedged down on by Shaffer.
Stacy off on the right wing herefor right right gets a screen much was
there. They go high left wingnow to work Worth, guarded by Geese,
gets a screen from Horton. Worthnews to the right wing. Offer
Stacy with five to shoot into Thornton. It's tipped out of there. It
was last touch by Transylvania. Oh, they gotta get some help here,

(18:04):
and it looked like it was certainlylast touch by Thornton. But again no
help. Three seconds to shoot herefor Transylvania on the right baseline mbounds.
Stout's gotta defend Dajah Thornton five eleven. She will be able to receive it
left side of lane. Takes atough two point jumper, throws it up
wildly. No good. Somebody's gotto grab a rebun for Stout and they
finally do shape her up to Sorenson. Sorenson wants to drive Pops from the

(18:26):
left block. Good four to twoPioneers lead seven thirty five to go.
Oh here in quarter number one.My shot by Reagan. Sorenson took the
space they gave her in the transitionplay and she scores defense. Chant here
from Stout once again, here's worthrunning the point. Gets a screen from
right, moving left, Wagner defendsWagner on the switch. They'll go to

(18:47):
Stacey in the left wing corner. She'll dribble out to the between the circle
area. Now all looks acrossover onWagner step back. Three was blocked block
by Wagner and it's grabbed by Sorenson. Wagner gets the block Sorenson with the
basketball. Sorensto the front court looksto much left side. She'll put it
on the drag drive baseline out toGeeson. Geeson back over to Sorenson,
not a much in the corner.Switch it up top to Shaffer. Shaefferd

(19:07):
to Geese at the free throw line, out to Wagner. Wagner looks for
the ball fake in the corner toSorenson. Now at the left elbow it
is Geeson. Weaving in loses itand she doubled, dribbles, try to
put it back down and gets callingfor the turnover, and it's back to
Transylvania with six fifty left to go. You're in quarter number one. Step
Rosello, Willie checking in along withLauren Arns for Stout and the Pioneers with

(19:36):
basketball here with Sadie Worth bringing itforward here for Transylvania when they play out
of the HCAC. This is aTransylvania team that is twenty eight or zero
on the season, but you onlyhave three wins against top forty opponents.
Just didn't play a lot of teams. Is Asia Thornton in the lane.
Much defense goes over top of herand it's well rebounded by Sorenson. On
the miss Sowrenson takes some pressure upthe court, finds Anna much left wing

(19:59):
hand off to Arnes. Arns picksit up, switches it across the shaper
inside to Willie Willy looking fine.Sorenson flashing to the bucket and the layup
how it popped out. The bunnymissed and Thornton gets the rebound. Here
for Transylvania. This is Worth inthe front court. Dejah Thornton. I'm
off on the left wing. They'reright right guarded by Sorenson Man Man defense
here from Stout. We'll go uptop near the center circle to Stacey on

(20:23):
the left feather of the Warhawk logoat mid court. They'll go high low
inside the shot no good, andArns with the rebound on the miss inside
and now I final, No,she stepped out of bounds, say the
officials, and I think it's anew thirty, not a new twenty.
Here we'll see if that's the case. Sidney Brendan'll see Gieson, Wagner and
Brennan check back in for Stout.Sorenson will get a quick rest here as

(20:48):
Kennedy Stacy waits for the inbound fourto two Pioneers with the early lead five
p fifty three to go first quarterout, it comes to Lake and Ball
on the left wing. Now Worthhas it for Transylvania Sweet sixteen of the
NCAA Tournament. The left wing three. That's good. They got a back
screen for Stacey. Set up andKennedy Stacy a thirty four percent three point
shooter. She was third in theHCAC this year, hits the three.
Here's Wagner driving from the right wing, bounces off Randa much at the left

(21:11):
block has to go chase it downafter the pass is a little too strong.
Brennan was trying to catch it forthree and she loses the basketball.
Now out to Wagner. Wagner onthe high ride right side, they'll get
it to range down Much on theleft short corner, take some contact,
it does not go. But Ithink they got Thornton for the foul.
Indeed they did. That stays justThornton's second for second and that is a

(21:32):
huge call at this game. Fivetwenty three to go here in the first
quarter and it's seven two Pioneers, but the star player for Transylvania has two
fouls and Julie Folks trying to geta conversation going with Alyssa Perko, but
it's gonna fall on deaf gears asthe free throw from Mana Much is good.
Hana Much one of the best freethrow shooters on this team for stout

(21:56):
eighty one percent on the season. That was third in the Y this year.
Seven to three Pioneers lead one morefor Much and that'll go seven to
four Transylvania leads. They're gonna keepDajah Thornton in. I'm gonna can't right
now. Then she is gonna comeout soon. Put the pen checking in.
We'll be Sierra kemigre Reagan siss.Kemi Gore is sophomore from Prestwood,

(22:19):
Kentucky. Just averages three points agame, so you'll lose some production here
with kemilgre in over Thornton, andthat is huge. She got two fouls
on her early. Stacey there forthe Pioneers on the high wide right side,
kemil Gore gets hedged out on byBrennan Noele the switch on her on
defense. Five ten to go,she'll take the three that is off the

(22:40):
mark. No. Sorenson has therebound here and she stepped out of bounds.
A little bit of pressure there fromright as she was trying to get
it running out of bounds. Nofoul call and it will stay with Transylvania
in a new twenty five oh fourto go first quarter seven to four Pioneers,
but the storyline early is that DejahThornton has two and we'll see how

(23:00):
much we see her the remainder ofthis first half, tough pass, We'll
go out to Sadie worth Worth onthe high right side, guarded by Lauren
Arnes. Worth hands it off toStacey Weaving into the lane. Stacy trying
to drive spins pops the two pointjumper and it rattles in nine to four.
Transylvania leagues Lauren Arnes and Aman deGeeson will break the press here up

(23:21):
to Wagner. Wagner has pressure frombehind it. She'll just take it herself
instead. She'll go out to Sorensonleft corner three. She's fouled. It
did not go, but another fowlin the air there by Worth and the
Transylvania bench is losing it, butit was a clear foul. One of
the fans is offering his glasses tothe official. It's not gonna matter.

(23:42):
Four forty to go here in thefirst quarter. We got a media time
out, nine to four, Pioneers. We'll be back right after this.

basketball and the NCAA Tournament here onNews Talk WMQ. Hey Steve, welcome
back in here to Whitewater, Wisconsinas the Blue Devils trail nine to four
here early on four forty a gohere in the first quarter in the Sweet

(24:48):
sixteen round of the Division III Women'sBasketball NCAA Tournament, the Blue Devils taking
their first trip back to the Sweetsixteenth then since two thousand and six.
If you're remember back in two thousandand seven, blue Devils hosted their initial
pod. They had a great season, of course, won the YAC regular
season at conference championship, but theylost in the opening round to Simpson.

(25:10):
It was just an absolute killer forStout that year and the course of Blue
Devils never went back to the NCAATournament since until this year. But the
Blue Devils now back in the NCAAtournament with three free throws coming here for
Reagan Sorenson out of the timeout andshe'll hit the first. Sorenson was fouled
by Worth on a three, andthe entire media timeout was spent by Julie
Folks, the head coach of Transylvania, talking to Steve Matazuski, the official

(25:34):
who called the foul. That's thesecond time they've called the foul on a
shooter landing. We saw it calleda lot of Carrol last year. It's
a point of emphasis year and it'ssomething that team's got to be aware of.
Is Sowrenson hits all three pre throws, it's nine to seven Pioneers with
the lead here on stout. Butagain Deja Thornton, the other player of
note here, of course, withtwo fouls here early on. Their star

(25:56):
player is on the bench with thosefouls, so maybe pay attention to that.
Certainly is out on the right wingis right right guarded by Anna Much
and a hand check foul, andthere's your first makeup call after the last
ones. You knew it was coming, and there it is a hand check
foul called on Anna Much. It'llbe out of bounds to Transylvania. I'm
sure Transylvania thinks that there's two orthree more coming their way. After that,

(26:19):
there's Stacey to mbound. She goout to the right wing grand By
right right between the circles to balltop of the key. She'll dribble right
and now hand off to Kennedy.Stacy Eeson switches on her. She's a
good defender, of course, asa man of Easton first team Alwayak player.
And there's a reach in by AnnaMuch. Just didn't need to do
it, and that's another foul onAnna Much. And now she's got two

(26:40):
fouls. So I don't think it'sas big of a loss to Stout to
have Anna Much on the bench asit is to have Dejah Thornton on the
bench for Transylvania. But it isa loss. And now she'll have to
come to the bench here, andSoout's gonna have to pick up the slack
and she picks up her second foul. Four tend to go in the first
quarter and to the line goes Kennedy. State see a seventy two percent free
throw shooter, and that one willrim out sixty four percent as a team.

(27:04):
If there's one staff. That's badfor Transylvania. It's their free throw
shooting. There were nine out oftenth in the HCAC and free throw shooting
at sixty four percent second one isgood. Ten to seven. Transylvania leads
here on Stout with four ten togo in the first quarter. Up to
Wagner. They're going to try tobreak a bit of a token press here
Wagner in the middle of the courtand take it across the timeline and now

(27:27):
Shape will run it on the highright. She'll dribble between the circles,
moving left over to Sorensen. NowWagner in the left corner. Wagner back
in the corner. Brennan is openfor three. Sydney Brennan feeling it early.
The Old Claire Memorial Grad shot thirtyfour percent from three and averages two
and a half. May three isa game. It is tied at ten

(27:47):
here with three point forty left togo in the first quarter. Cannot leave
Sydney Brennan open. But I thinkthat's what Stout knew, that they were
going to be able to exploit thecorners against this zone defense from Transylvania,
and so far it's working out wellwith some of those quarter baseline jumpers.
Here's a crossover from Kennedy in she'llmiss offensive, board, will go to
kemel Gore. She'll go up andhit it, and we're top of everybody.

(28:10):
With three eighteen to go, you'rein quarter number one. Stout basketball
again, pressure from the pioneers.Geeson picks it up, gets it to
Shaffer. It is not a reallycrazy press, right, It just does
enough to kind of throw you offa little bit. Getting the ball across
the timeline. Brennan in the shortcorner left side to Soornson. She'll take
the two. That's short. She'llget her own rebound though, and it's
hacked away. They'll bounce it offto Geeson. She'll go up, take

(28:33):
some contact, no good. Sorensoncan't grab the board. Geeson then fights
for it. The reach in thereand they got to call a foul this
time, and they do. That'sgotta be a foul on Lake and ball,
and it is, and it's nota bounce to Stout. One four.
Stout fought for the rebound and theyjust kind of hacked at her until
somebody was gonna blow a whistle, and they finally did shafferd inbound on the

(28:56):
baseline, looking looking. She'll goout to Brennan on the left wing,
back to Shaper in the corner, back out to Sorenson. Thought about the
three back for Brennan. She'll takeit, and that's a little short.
Sorenson tips it thrown in the handsof Shaeffer, back to Geeson. Up
at the top of the key.Twelve to ten. Transylvania leads, Schaefer
drives in. She'll take a twopoint jumper. That's an air ball,
and Sorenson can't track it down.Transylvania does with Sydney Wright Kennedy. Stacy

(29:19):
brings it forward here for Transylvania inthe corner, over to kemel Goore and
Gore, guarded by Brennan. Brennanstays in front of her. Sorenson denies
the pass her right, go outinstead to Worth Worth gets a screen on
the right wing. She'll drive allthe way to the hoo Man. She
missed it. Brennan with the reboundoff for Schaeffer missed the layup, and
now Sorenson brings it forward. Sorensonon the left wing slows it down,

(29:42):
finds a trailer in Shaffer back onthe left Sorenson. They'll leave her open
to shoot. She won't take itthough. Now Brennan on the right wing,
Brennan inside the Geeson Schaffer was movingin ot to go Wagner and she
can't get to it. It's aback court violation. It's a too long
of a passer trying to find Sorensonback out at the top, and Wagner
was the player behind it. Shewas just kind of nonchalant going back to

(30:03):
get that ball. Twelve to ten, Transylvania leads one fifty four left to
go. First quarter. Asia Thorntonis coming back in here for Transylvania with
two fouls, So she's gotta becareful now. Like we said, she's
one of those kids on the floorthat when you have her out there,
she's such a smart player that Ithink coach folks of course trust her at
this point after what a great seasonlast year in the sixty two game winning

(30:27):
streak up top. This is nowEmily Teal who's checked into the game.
Dajiah Thornton in the right short corner. Now a drive from right on the
baseline kicks it left for Worth isnot open for three to the elbow,
lays it off there and it's outof bounds off the leg of Teals.
She couldn't handle the pass from Wordand Stout gets the turnover twelve to ten

(30:47):
Transylvania one thirty five to go firstquarters stop, So Sorenson back to inbound
this one and again some pressure cominghere from Transylvania. Arns takes some pressure

(31:07):
from behind from Worrist for a goodjob getting across the timeline the wagner.
Now Arns between the circles, willmove it left off on the wing here
for Schafer. Schafer in the corner. Thought about a three and zone defense
again from Transylvania. Arns dribbles in, finds Geeson makes the catch on the
right block. Can't get the shotup. Oh and there's a hack from
Arns almost hot Worth. No foulcall, it's stolen by kemel Gore there.
Now Worth has it up in theleft wing. Worth, guarded by

(31:32):
Arns. Worth wants to drive.Worth stops the dribble, but kept it
for a moment. Now right behindthe back dribble from the top of the
key. She loses at a foulcall before the shot on Lauren Arns.
It'll be out of bounds to Transylvaniawith nine to fifty seven rather point six.
He left to play here in quarternumber one, team twelve to ten
Pioneers. There's a number of Whitewaterfans who's shown up here early to the

(31:56):
game as well, and I canimagine that Whitewater fans will be pulling for
Stout today. I think there's beena lot of at conference camaraderie since the
NCAA tournament has happened. Has startedcorner three on the way for Transylvania in
and out and it tips out ofthere, it's grabbed by Reagan Sorens and
here for the Blue Devils, Wagneris reached in on no caller on Kemel
Gore. Wagner then brings it allthe way across the timeline herself to the

(32:17):
left block. Underneath in the corneris arms Arns up top to Shafer twenty
to shoot. W go back toWagner in the corner, ball makes She's
open for three. It is goodLexi Wagner for three. Thirteen to twelve
Blue Devils. Thirty one seconds remainhere in the first quarter Stout by one
for Stout, it's their first leadof the game, and there goes the

(32:37):
Stout student section and it is abig one at the end to our right,
trying to make some noise. Twosecond differential between game and shot block
at the end of the first Thisis kemel Goore. Kemel Gore passes off
right for Worth, takes the threewell off the mark, rebounds Shaper.
They got six seconds to remain herein the first quarter. Shafer takes it

(32:58):
across the timeline with three. Withtwo takes the prey no good and that's
the end up quarter number one.Boot Levels will take it shooting thirty three
percent in that first half a firstquarter rather the second quarter. Will plug
your way with Stout up by one, thirteen to twelve on Transylvania. Right
after this, you're on your ownfor blue double basketballciation you are listening to

(33:19):
covers of the NCAA Women's basketball tournamentright here on Newstalk wm EQ and iHeartRadio.
Parkview Community Campus is committed in itsefforts by providing an integrated long term
care campus to the surrounding area andaggressively delivering the highest quality of care to
their five facilities. They are receptiveto the needs and concerns of their staff,

(33:40):

cornerstones and implementing a philosophy that iscommitted to excellence, compassion and improving the
care of the community. Parkview CommunityCampus, Woodville. Now back to UW
Stout women basketball in the NCAA Tournamenthere on News Talk w mEq. Now,

(34:05):
welcome back in here to UW Whitewaterand as the Blue Devils lead thirteen
to twelve at the end of one, Stout shooting three of ten officially in
that first quarter, so the fieldgoals weren't great, but the Blue Devils
made up for it with five offive at the line in that first quarter,
five points from Reagan Sorensen and fiveof nineteen shooting mark for Transylvania.

(34:25):
The Blue Devils gave up seven offensiverebounds at Transylvania in that first half,
which is part of the reason whythe Blue Douvels are only up by one
at the moment. It wasn't aterribly well played quarter rather between both teams,
but as we sit now, that'skind of how it stands at Transylvania
six points off at turnovers or fivepoints off at turnovers. They have six

(34:49):
second chance points and eight points inthe paint as well do Transylvania. Stout
has no numbers there. In fact, Transylvania's only turned it over one time
as compared to the five times ofStout. But the Blue Devils have you
had a high turnover numbers all season. It hasn't seemed to matter too much
because Lauren Arn's to the right elbows. She'll kick it in the corner to
Wagner, out to Shafer, backto arns Arnes thought about the three,

(35:12):
puts it on the deck, backoff for Wagner on the wing. Wagner
into the free throw line, takesthe two point jay and she'll hit that
one. Wagner the transfers the reasonshe was recruited to d one and that's
why right there, fifteen to twelveStout with the lead, nine thirty five
to go. Second quarter. Transylvaniahas six from Kennedy Stacy, but nobody
else with more than two on theroster at the moment, Lake and ball

(35:32):
bouncing inside. That's a bad passand Wagner has it here for Stout.
Wagner on the steel find Sorenson intransition loses a dribble trying to save it
and she can't. She throws itright back to Lake and ball. The
pass from Wagner was just a littlebit too strong for Sorenson and she couldn't
hold onto it. Pioneer's going toslow it down. Stout wants to play
up and down. That's how theyplayed all year. Transylvania a little bit

(35:53):
more of a half court team.No Dajiah Thornton at the moment. Another
back door cut here and a misson the shot from Kennedy Harris, who's
checked in the senior from Somerset,Kentucky, but she is fouled by Lexi
Wagner her first quarter. Yeah,we will see another Transylvania sub. It'll
be Sidney Wright to check you. It's Transylvania the Pioneers. But their logo

(36:15):
is as you might expect for ateam named Transylvania, a vampire bat and
they definitely lean into that theme.A little bit. Free throw is good
from Kennedy Harris, just a sixtysix percent free throw shooter on the season.
Fifteen thirteen Stout nine O two togo. Second quarter. One more

(36:37):
here from Harris, and it istoo strong and Geeson had it last touch
though by Transylvania should have been afoul on Kennedy Stacy. Officials just decided
to call it off of Stacey andgive it to Stout. I think they
want Stacy to pick up some foulsas a Blue double bench. Shafer has
it here. See if Transylvania lookslike they're gonna turn up the full court

(36:59):
pressure a little bit. They getit across the timeline relatively easily to Stout
and hear Shaper running the point forthe Blue Devils. Shaper over to Brent
and Tough pass there right, almoststepped in front of it. Now they
go Shaper into the lane, bouncesoff for Sorenson, had it poked away.
Nice job by Stacy to get thedeflection there and no contact. It
is a nice block. Is lakeand ball and Amanda Geeson trying to get

(37:23):
into it underneath posting up before theball was even across a timeline up on
the right side, worth Worth weavingin almost traveled, goes over to Kennedy
Stacey on the left wing step backthree on the way way too strong went
over top and that is out ofbounds to Stout. Fifteen thirteen Stout eight
twenty one to go here in thesecond quarter. So Blue Devils are defending

(37:50):
well. I mean Transylvania only shootingtwenty six percent from the field right now,
Stout is thirty three percent. TheTransylvania team averages very close to it.
Stout averages Transylvania forty three percent fromthe field per game on average Stout
and forty five percent from the fieldon average. Sorenson picked up her dribble,
needs some help out on the leftwing. She'll hand off to Brennan.

(38:12):
Now the Shafer round a Wagner.Stout gets her offense running here with
thirteen seconds remaining on the shock box, Sorenson steps into a two no good.
Geeson tips it and now body's crashingall over Lake and Ball and Reagan
Sorenson tie it up. The Pioneershave the arrow on the tie up,
so it'll be Transylvania Ballvia on thetie up there and Stout still maintaining a

(38:32):
two point lead. Fifteen thirteen.Blubbles wanted a foul call there and didn't
get it. Geeson did a goodjob tipping it to Sorenson. When Sorenson
went to grab the ball she kindof got collided into by ball from behind.
Say Brennan checking in for Stout,so did Dejah Thornton for the Pioneers

(38:52):
with two fouls. Thornton at theleft elbow, trying to go high low.
Schaffer gets in front of her, gets her in the air. That's
a great defence and play by Saferthey call a foul. A Shaper stayed
in good position. I don't thinkshe was straight up was the problem.
She was going for the block, and the student section will give the officials
the business there saw dejah Thornton willgo to the line to shoot. Hanna

(39:19):
Munch is going to get back inthere with those two fouls of hers,
and Sidney Brennan will check out aswell. So you've got Arns, Sorenson,
Geeson, Mutch and Wagner the fiveon the floor for Stout. Kennedy
Stacy's ready to check in, butshe's coming in four dayjah Thornton because again
the Pioneers want to play the getThornton out of there on defense game and

(39:42):
she misses the free throw. Stillfifteen thirteen Stout seven forty two to go.
Second quarter on the way and stillno good Sorenson skis on the board
this time for Stout. Sorenson hasit off for Wagner and she'll it for
They'll put some pressure on in theback court though, up to Lauren Arnes.

(40:02):
Now back to Wagner between the wheels. Wagner picks it up. Sorenson
on the wing. Is that kindof sort of junk zone that they run
here. It's like a two tothree, but they rotate around on it
so much. Wagner out on thewing goes into much at the elbow much
now to the left elbow, backout to Sorenson. She'll step into a
three and that is in and out. It was halfway down. Then ball
is fouled by Anna Much. Herthird couldn't do it. Hannah Iverson trusting

(40:28):
Anna much back in the game, and just like that, she picks up
her third foul food and she'll nowsit on the bench for the rest of
this half. Seven fifteen left toplay here in the second quarter, Transylvania
with a basketball and a much withthree fouls and Dejah Thornton now will stay
in here for Transylvania. They're gonnatry to sub her out for every defensive

(40:49):
possession they can, So we'll seeif the Blue Devils can take advantage of
that. Now we get a whistle, and we got blood on the knee
of Lake and Ball after uh,probably after that dive she and Sorenson went
for on the court. So they'llgive her a few seconds to wrap that
knee up and that'll cause some awkwardsome awkwardness on the court. I think

(41:10):
they'll let the players go over tothe bench area as that is wrapped up.
Quick look in the Oshkosh Titans areon the road in Maine as part
of their regional they're taking on Smith, the number fourteenth ranked team in the
nation. With twenty seven seconds left, Oshkosh trails and now they've just tied

(41:32):
it. It's fifty nine on withtwenty seconds left there as well. They
are the home team for that gameagainst Smith up in that region. So
Oshkosh trying to advance to the Eliteeight, and they are close and in
a close battle with seventeen seconds remainingin the fourth quarter of their game.
We'll keep you up to date onthat when we get a final there.
Here's translating you with the basketball.Lake and Ball gets to stay in with

(41:53):
that wrapped up knee that was justbleeding off. They go on the right
wing to right, She's guarded byshape or high low with ball inside.
She catches it below the bucket andthen loses it out of bounds. It's
stout. Basketball game has kind ofcrawled to a little bit of a lull
here, and so now both teamswith subs again with early foul trouble.
You're gonna hear a lot of earlysubstitutions here for offense and defense to try

(42:17):
to keep players out of foul trouble. Deeson goes into Schaeffer again full court
press, a deflected pass it we'llget to Geeson, though Deeson gets it
back. Shafer got to get itacross the timeline. She will push it
forward along with Keeson, and theydo. Deeson will dribble into the right
side of the free throw line. She'll go over and out to the right
block. She's up and she's fouledby Lake and Ball. Ball is called
for the foul and that is hersecond as well. So the top two

(42:40):
scorers on this team were two ofthe top two scorers, and Lake and
Ball and dejah Thornton are now bothwith two fouls. Jajah Thornton is gonna
check back in now as well, and Ball is gonna get arrest as we
see Alise loder Meyer Lista Lodermeyer, excuse me, and Rosella Willie checking into
the game here for Scout as well. Brennan out Ethan is the other players

(43:00):
who have come out for Willie. But of course she's at the free throw
line. So two free throws comingfor Amanda Geeson first is way too strong.
Tell it out of a hand thatwas never gonna tickle the twine.
Amanda geeseon no points yet she's overtwo in the game in the one at
the free throw line. Fifteen thirteenStout. We've been stuck on this score
line. In fact, we've onlyseen three total points scored in this quarter

(43:22):
by both teams, three from Stoutnow after that free throw mat Byeson,
and one from Transylvania. So theoffense has been at a premium right now.
Sixteen thirteen Stout, six thirty fiveto go in the second quarter.
Across the timeline comes worse. Stoutwill not to the full court press unless
they absolutely have to. Dejah Thorntoncatches right side of the lane, Shaffer

(43:45):
defends, well, she'll go upand under though and make the move.
Stout wanted a travel call, didn'tget it, and it's now sixteen to
fifteen. Stout soaring across the timelinehere for the Blue Devils, off on
the right wing, bounces in thecorner to Willy Willy, to loder Meyer,
back out to Shaper. She's openfor a three. It's short though
Lodermier. She collided with Sorenson andit's out of bounds to Transylvania. Lodermyer

(44:07):
had the rebound, Sorenson didn't seeher coming and they got their feet tangled
up and the rebound dead ball reboundwill go right back to Transylvania. The
one thing that Transylvania has, Imean, they have a lot of things
going for him, but one ofthe maybe the main things they have going
for them is that, of coursethey've been in these situations last year in
the NCAA tournament, right while theyhaven't been really battle tested over the last

(44:30):
two months. Is Asia Thornton catchesin the lane, she's fouling and on
she's and a chance now for thePioneers to take in even larger lead as
they now lead seventeen to sixteen ona good catch by Asia Thornton inside just
uses that five to eleven frame andcatches that high pass nobody else can get
into it step and then gets fouledon the play by Rosella Willie. So

(44:53):
the Blue Devils need an offensive answerhere, x Wagner the game for Stout.
Wagner gonna check back in. Stouthas four fouls in this quarter,
one on the Pioneers five point fiftythree remaining in the second. Thornton at
the line has struggled here so far, and she will you know, nothing
but net on that free throw eighteensixteen Pioneers leading Dajah Thornton will check out

(45:15):
with those two fouls right away. They want her out on defense and inn
on offense. She almost feel likeTransylvania is trying to be really aggressive on
the defensive side because if they geta foul call on him, they can
at least get Dajah Thornton back inon the offensive side. On the stoppage,
here's Sorenson down low. They goout to Wagner. Now at the
top of the key, She'll findSorenson at the free throw line, steps

(45:36):
into a two point jumpers off themark gets her own rebound. We're gonna
go back up and said she'll goout to Wagner. She steps into a
three. Good, let's see Wagnerfor three. Stop back up by one,
nineteen to eighteen. With five thirtyto go in the second quarter,
the old inside outside get the threeoff a rebound. The best time to
shoot a three usually is off arebound, and the lou Devils take advantage

(45:57):
of that. There here's Kennedy's nowin the corner here left side for right
off on the right wing to kemelGore. Kemel Goore going in on Sorenson
goes up no good. Wagner getsthe rebound and off it goes for Shaper.
Stout trying to push the base Shaperin the front court. Chaffer crosses
over right wing to Geeson in theshort corner, finds Wagner trailing to play.
Takes it two good, twenty oneeighteen Stout four fifty five to go.

(46:22):
Second quarter. A nice run herefor the Blue Devils. Associate Athletic
Director Aaron Sullivan heads are the chancellorof the Blue Dove or of a stout
rather and doing NAT's all sitting nextto each other in the front row of
the fans who've shown up all theway here in white Water tonight. Off
on the high left, they goto right right, guarded by Wagner Man

(46:44):
Man defense. They switch it backon the right side of kemel Goore.
Kemel Gore looking to go on Shaper. She'll go into the lane top shot,
left handed, scooped, no good, readoun Shaper, Shaper's got it
and Stout wants to push the paceup by three. Shaper find Sorensen in
the right short corner. Sorenson backsit back out to Wagner, looking for
the three and said shape at thetop. Back to Wagner. She'll take
it. No good, it's alittle short. Gezon trying to track it

(47:06):
down and can't. And she'll takea seat in the second row, trying
to go after that. Loose ball. Time out on the floor. Four
oh nine to go here in thesecond quarter. It's twenty one eighteen,
so out. We'll come back rightafter this. You're on You're Home for

here on News Talk WMQ, andwelcome back in here to Ketchel Gymnasium on

(48:13):
the campus of the University of WisconsinWhitewater. Of course, national champions and
men's basketball in twenty twelve, andagain the women's basketball team that's done so
many great things, got to thefinal four, got to the championship game
two years ago under the head coachingof Kerry Carrallo, the former Stout assistant
under Mark Thomas, and of course, so many of Mark Thomas's old players

(48:34):
are here at the gym tonight aswell. So this is a bit of
a family affair in Transylvania. Figuringthat out, I think a number of
the Whitewater fans are rooting non stoutHere tonight as well. Twenty one to
eighteen lead per stout Here over Transylvania. With four h nine to go in
the second quarter, Transylvania with thebasketball out of the media timeout, Kennedy
Stacy brings it across the timeline asSam Shaper puts some pressure on her and

(48:55):
Sorenson will also guard her up top. A little bit of trap defense here
from the loudebo. Switching it upa bit, here's Teal at the top
of the key. They go toWorth. They're trying to deny the pass
to Thornton, and they deny itagain. It's tipped and it is grabbed
by Thornton at the free throw lineout on the left wing. Ball fake
from three for right goes back uptop. Well, she was open for
a minute, there was. KennedyStacy takes it and it's good. Kennedy

(49:16):
Stacy, the three point specialist.Twenty one all thirty three, thirty five
left to go here in quarter two, man the Geeson will break the pressure
with Sorenson across the timeline. Soundhas not been troubled by the pressure yet
tonight the full court press here forTransylvania Geeson going the baseline. She go

(49:36):
out to Arnsb a two point jumperand she'll drain it from the free throw
line. Twenty three twenty one stoutwith three point fifteen to go here in
the second quarter, we can tellyou that Oshkosh has lost in the opening
or in the sweet sixteen round.Smith gets a late layup at the buzzer.
Sixty one fifty nine. Smith defeatsOshkosh. So Oshkosh is out of
the NCAA tournament. Down to twoHyak teams Left Swood Devils trying to make

(50:00):
it two going into tomorrow and onefor sure in the final four. Here's
a drive from right right in thelane. Might have been three. They
go out on the wing for athree. That's no good. It's tipped
out of there. Who's gonna grabIt's Lauren Arns and now she'll get it
up to Sorenson. Sorenson crosses overfrom the left to right wing. Rather
Geeson goes down to a knee, gets it off for Sorenson almost to travel,

(50:21):
Soarrenton wants to drive. She takesa bump, takes the two.
No Geeson with the offensive rebound putback. No good, Soorrenson was bucked
them behind. It's gotta be acall. Oh my goodness, here's Wagner.
Now Sorenson in the corner. Shewants to drive on Thornton macans Thornton
or pardon me out to Wagner rathereight seconds to shoot. Wagner gets around
her defender. Wagner all the wayto the lane. She's fouled out of

(50:43):
bounds. Boy, I tell youwhat. Thornton probably should have picked up
her third foul on that rebound fromSorenson. Get a huge shove in the
back, and it wasn't called twentythree twenty one stout two fifteen to go
here in the second quarter, Ohboy, anybody having yet? Wagner out
of bounds here on the baseline anew twenty first scout. They'll go into

(51:07):
Sorenson. She'll catch oh, poppedout of aaron. It's popped out by
Stacy and no call again. Sorensonis tell you what she's got her?
Uh, it's got that head downhill she's getting to the bucket and she's
taking on the trees down there forthe Pioneers. But right now the officials
kind of letting them play out onthe wing ere to right right, gets
switched off on Thornton, then goesin. Oh, she loses the basketball

(51:30):
and that's gotta be a foul.It is not, though, and it's
grabbed by arms and now Wagner she'sfouled. No call there. Wagner trying
to get it across the timeline. She will, my goodness, out of
control. Wagner hands up the gatesand the shot and it goes from the
right block. Twenty five twenty onedetermination from the Blue Devils. Everything was
kind of out of control. Theystuck with it and they now take a

(51:52):
four point lead. They're the largestof the game. Here's right on the
right wing, right into the lane. Wagner defense goes up. No good
rebound. Sorenson trying for the layup there. After all those files they
didn't call. There's no way theycould have called that on Wagner hand off
to Sorenson. She goes in thelayup. No Keaeson with the rebound,

(52:13):
Keeson going back up, takes contactagain, no call. Keeson tried to
get there. She's fouled. It'sout of bounds. Keeson is fouled and
it's a foul on right, it'llbe out of bounds to Stout. Wow,
what effort from this Blue Devils team. Officials are trying to let everything

(52:34):
go. So if they're gonna dothat, what do you gotta do?
Just go be aggressive, get theball. And that's what they've done,
arms Out Shafer. In twenty fivetwenty one, Stout leads Stout with a
basketball shaffered inbound from the baseline.Oh, brit Brennan was wide open.
They missed her. They'll get itto her now though. In the corner.
She'll go to Sorenson in the post, finds Geeson, she takes a

(52:54):
bump. That's a foul, andshe'll go to the line. Wore two
shots and that's Sydney right again.Bad defensive position is the Blue Devils this
seconds. We'll now have two freethrows here for Amanda geeseon seven. I'm
a thirty two Lincoln Ball of theYears. Come into Geese at the lone

(53:16):
shooting two. Coach Julie Folks isbeside herself right now, but you know,
to be honest with you, Stout'sbeen a little more aggressive, and
I think they've let a lot gothat they could have called very easily.
As Geson and Randle's in the first. Deeson now with four points, Lexi

(53:37):
Wagner already in double figures with ten. You got Kennedy Stacy with nine for
Transylvania. Twenty six to twenty oneStout. Deeson's second that's good as well.
Twenty seven to twenty one Blue Devilstheir largest leader of the game week
tick under one minute remaining here inthe first half Transylvania basketball. This is
Sadie Worth off of the high leftistStacey Stacey or past the ball was deflected.

(54:00):
They go into Thornton catches high low, Wagner tries to defend but can't
and Thornton gets the layup. That'sa good play for Transylvania. They'll get
a two for one out of thisas well. Wagner is cut off.
Wagner. I think they need atime out here, and they'll take it
time out Stout, and they hadone to burn, so they'll take it
here and they will set it upwith twenty five seconds to shoot and thirty

(54:21):
five seconds left here in quarter numbertwo, just a thirty second timeout.
So, as we said again, the Blue Devils and the Warhawks are the
only two teams left in the NCAAtournament out of the wiac Oshkosh losing by
two just a few moments ago.And so we know that, I mean,
we don't know it for sure yet. Obviously you got to get to

(54:43):
the Elite eight. But Sotut andWhitewater are opening that they can ensure at
least one y acting gets to thefinal four, both with wins tonight.
Now it's an interesting matchup in gamenumber two tonight. Hope College out of
Michigan in the Grand Rapids Holland area, which is, of course, if
you don't know, is founded byor at least funded a lot by the
DeVos family. You know, BetsyDeVos, Dick DeVoss in Michigan, Betsy

(55:05):
de Boss, the former Secretary ofEducation in that area. Hope College a
real well funded, big arena. They've got a lot of great pedigree there
at Hope. They take on Whitewater. It's a rematch of the National Championship
game from two years ago. Soyou got a lot of real good pedigree
here at this regional as here's Arnswith it for Stout. Out of the
time out, they switch it acrossthe Wagner corner. Three on the way

(55:25):
it is in and out and arebounding a foul called on Geeson, just
one she didn't need to make becausethat's the fifth bowl on Stout and that's
gonna send the Pioneers to the freethrow line. Just didn't need to make
that foul. I don't know whythey're bringing Dajah Thornton in for defense.
Herebe five days you though they're gonnabring her in for defense. I'm really
sure why gonna got Kennedy Stacy atthe line. She was the one fouled

(55:50):
by Geeson. It's ess first,so not the d the world there of
these the bus twenty seven to twentythree. Stout they led twenty seven to
twenty one, but Transylvania has achance to cut it to two with two
main free throws here Stacy at theline, and the first is no good
off the mark. Julie Falkes isbeside herself. This has not been a

(56:15):
good half for the Pioneers, butI'm sure for their perspective they're gonna say,
that's one of the worst has weplayed, And we're only down by
x number, right, and theymay even be tied by the end of
this. We don't know how thisis gonna result, but it's another misfree
throw. Wagner with the rebound.Salt's got twenty seconds to get a shot
off. Here it's Shafer across thetimeline. She'll set up a play and
the Pioneer is gonna play a littlebit of a Now they are gonna staying

(56:36):
zone. I thought for a momentthey were gonna go to man Shaper at
the top, Shaper inside the GeesonGeson ball, fake up and under layup.
Yes, And at the buzzer, the Blue Devils take a twenty nine
to twenty three lead. It wasn'tthree seconds, Julie Fulkes, it wasn't

Stout women's basketball and the NCAA tournamenthere on News Talk WMQ. Like there,

(59:37):
welcome back in here to UWA Whitefireand Ketchel Gymnasium. As we are
at halftime, it's twenty nine twentythree Stout with the lead as the Blue
Devils shooting thirty three percent in thatfirst half. Ten points from Lexi Wagner
highlight up. But we have somespecial guests here, Sarah Olman formerly Sarah
Call, who played on the BlueDevils teams from two thousand to two thousand

(59:58):
and four, and Stephane Limits fromtwo thousand and two to two thousand and
six. Appreciate you guys coming onand chatting with us for a little bit.
Thanks for having us. Thanks,it's over great to see not only
you guys here, but so manyof your teammates as well. All that
the fan buses, I mean,this is a I know it's Whitewater.
I think we're getting a little bitof rooting from the Whitewater fans. I
think they're trying to play the Wyatgame. But boy, look at it.

(01:00:19):
I mean it's a quarter of thegym is full of a blue devil.
This is pretty awesome, isn't it. There's a lot of white blue
over there. And yeah, Ithink there's about nine of US alumni in
attendance tonight for the game. That'sawesome to see as you, Yeah,
as you talk to alumni and youknow your former teammates, I mean we
talk about it, you know forthe current players that hey, these are
bonds you're going to form and thatyou're going to have for a lifetime and
that kind of thing. Obviously youall have kept in contact. What's that?

(01:00:42):
What's that like? Having played, you know, forced out those years
ago, but still keeping in contactwith everybody and I'm sure still following the
team. That's got to be aspecial bond that you guys all share.
We're super lucky. I feel likewhen you see a team like who's playing
currently, it just it's flashbacks. It's the memory of togetherness. Our group.
It was very special, and Ifeel like that's what's on the court

(01:01:05):
tonight. It reminds me a lotof that. But it takes effort,
just like when you're an athlete. It takes effort when you're an adult and
you're a working woman or a momwith family. So yeah, we are,
We're We're lucky to have such agood group of alumni, aren't leagues?
Sarah? Oh? For sure.I when I think back on it
too, when I look at thesegirls and just all the memories that they're
making. I mean, you're withthese girls from six am practices and sometimes

(01:01:29):
spending the whole like these girls, especially in these last couple of weekends,
have been spending sun up till sundown together going through you know, taking
tests online. I know I've visitedwith a few of them, and they
were even down in the lobby witha lot of the other you know,
student athletes. Yeah, but youknow what makes them feel united? So
not only that with your teammates, but also just not feeling alone and knowing

(01:01:49):
there's all these people who are inthese full commitment student athlete roles, but
especially those teammates that you bond withalong the way. There's so many memories
through that special time that connects youfor a lifetime, for sure, and
I think it just sets you upfor such a different successful life as a
as an adult. When you whenyou put in the hours and you have
to prioritize things and make time forthe things that are very important in your

(01:02:14):
life. I think that's one ofthe things that and I'm sure it was
a case in the athletic department whenyou all were players here, but I
hear it from so many of thecoaches now that it's about developing young women,
developing young men, right, youknow, making sure you set them
up kind of for a life. And that's what D three athletics is about.
This is the cool part of Dthree athletics, right, This is
like the cherry on top, butthe main part of it is that,
right, And I'm sure from coacht that was one of the big things,

(01:02:36):
right, was you know, tryingto develop so that when you graduated,
you could go out, have acareer, have a family, have
whatever it is that you want tohave out of life. And I'm sure
those are some of the lessons thatyou guys take away from it. Took
away from being on the tense absolutely. And today is a national International Women's
Day. Yeah, I think it'sso appropriate that here we are cheering on
just women athletics and just in general, women kicking butt. Yeah, you

(01:03:00):
know, it's definitely character building, right, Being a part of stuff like
this, you're tested through a lotof ups and downs. But me especially,
I think about how twenty years agoI would have never talked on the
radio like this, So I thinkyou get challenged in all sorts of different
ways of building character and who whoyou become as a woman, as a

(01:03:22):
friend, as a wife, asa mother. I mean, I feel
like your experiences through college definitely helpeddevelop those skills. Consolutely against Sarah Omen
and Stephanie Iimmitz joining us here formerBlue Devils players here as we watch the
Blue Devils here in the NCAA TournamentLeague twenty nine to twenty three at halftime.
Yeah, I mean you talked aboutbeing International Women's Day and the idea

(01:03:43):
that obviously, I mean, lookat what the women's game has, how
it's grown, right Obviously, CaitlinClark of the first person who comes to
mind and all that, But youknow, the cool thing for you all,
at least in the time that I'vebeen as South and that's only been
ten years, but just watching it, women's sports has always had a really
good fan base and a really goodsupport system. I look at a videos
of women's teams from you know, the two thousands and whatnot, and you
know gyms are full. I meanit's been I mean, I don't know,

(01:04:05):
maybe the Stout community was ahead ofthe curve on this, but they've
been supporting women's athletics for a longtime, which I can imagine is really
cool for you all as you seethe support you see now absolutely definitely get
you goosebumps. When you know theyhad their their couple runs. You're in
the first half of flashbacks and whenwhen we had those moments, and it
is really cool. I think Ithink that that's an attestment to the staff,

(01:04:28):
you know, really buying into thecommunity and supporting the community. And
you know, I think of coacht and his his commitment to athletics,
and it was taking care of thelittle things and that's part of it is
being part of the community too.Yeah, for sure. I mean,
just starting for with the fans.I know they said there's so many parents
that were able to travel to thisand family members. But I also love

(01:04:48):
seeing all the students that came becauseit's our spring break too. But they
get me so excited when they're allin because that when when they fill the
room with all that energy, it'sfun. And then when they handled megaphones,
I feel like my kids screaming intothose megaphones like triples. The amount
of people that are here well, and you know, even if this game

(01:05:09):
wasn't played in Whitewater and it wasplayed in in Lexington, Kentucky, it
would have been on the way forthese guys as they go down to spring
break anyway, So it would haveworked out rights, right, It's priorities,
all right, So let me letme get your basket, your elite
basketball mines here on what you're seeing. I mean, obviously, Blue Devil's
looking good. They're breaking the presswell up by six, in good shape.
This Transylvania team's tough. But whatdo you I mean, does anything

(01:05:30):
about the way the team plays remindyou though some of those old teams?
Is it just hey, they gotsome great shooters. I mean, what
do you what do you guys kindof see from a basketball standpoint as you
watch this Blue Devil team play well? For starters warming up, I could
see they were shooting a lot ofthrees and they look like they're pretty money
beyond the three point line. Butone thing that Sauda has done on their
defense has not allowed them to shootvery many threes, so they haven't had

(01:05:54):
a lot of chances at that.I also think they were probably hoping to
catch some low passes into their postsand also backdoor, and that hasn't been
very successful for them. I thinkthey're getting bumped by our South defense and
they're playing tough. Yeah, they'replaying really tough. I just think that
they were prepared. They were preparedmentally. I know we got asked to

(01:06:14):
send videos to the girls of youknow, words of wisdom heading into a
Sweet sixteen game, and that wasthe message I said in my video is
visualize it in your mind. Youwe know, you know the opponents,
their their strengths, and so ifyou can, if you can be a
step ahead of the game, thosegirls are doing it. Sure it was
funny because what was it ten totwo? What was it really at least

(01:06:38):
five or six? Well, youcould just they just looked shaky, right,
So did initially just like needed toget out the nerves. And man,
now that they got into their flow, it's just fun like they're feeling
it. They're pushing the ball.I mean, I am breathing heavy.
Just watching how they're running up anddown the floor so many times is unbelievable.
They're fast and wow. Well,I clearly need to just because I

(01:07:00):
don't know what it is I needed. It's more water or something. But
I need to list one of youas a color commentator so I can at
least get a break from talking atsome point. Thank you, guys.
You guys obviously know your stuff, and it's certainly fun to watch, and
we really appreciate you all coming onhere at halftime. Go have fun out
there. Twenty more minutes. Let'ssee if we can do it. We'll
all be a basket case, I'msure for the next twenty Yeah, enjoy
it. It's gonna be awesome. Thanks for having me. I appreciate that

basketball and the NCAA Tournament here onNews Talk WMQ. Well, indeed,
welcome back in here on the NCAATournament in the Sweet sixteen, the uw
Stout Blue Devils women's basketball team leadingtwenty nine to twenty three over Transylvania,
the defending national champions. Here athalftime, Pekau join with you a real
special thanks to our halftime guests andSarah Owmen formerly Sarah Call one of the

(01:10:06):
thousand point scores in Stout history.Stephanie Nimmits as well for joining us.
They were great. And again they'vetalked about those messages that they put together
for the team for the game. You heard coach Iverson talk about that before
the game as well, how meaningfulthose were. Again, the Stout community
is those of you in me Nomineeknow and those of you who maybe went

(01:10:27):
to school at Scout or have friendswho went to school at Stout and you
know about the connection we have withthe community. But just the excitement level
that they have is just second tonone, and it is very very family
oriented in that sense. So it'sjust great to hear them talk about the
camaraderie they have with their former teammatesright from back in those days and now
the even the bonds that they're tryingto create with the current players really really

(01:10:49):
nice to see between the alumni andof course the current players as well.
All right here at halftime, aswe mentioned before, Oshkosh loses in the
opening rounte or the opening game hereof the Sweet sixteen to Smith sixty one
to fifty nine. So Oshkoshi hasdone in their NCAA tournament run. Unfortunate

(01:11:10):
for them. The Blue Devils willtrying to keep it alive. Lexi Wagner
with ten of that first half, stoutshot thirty three percent. Transylvania shot thirty
two percent. Stacy and Thornton eachhad nine, but nobody else with more
than two For the Transylvania squad tenper Lexi Wagner, seven per Van de
Geeson, she is seven away fromhitting the thousand points scoring mark in her

(01:11:30):
career. As well. Reagan Sorensenhad just five. She was one up
nine from the field and the BlueDoubles lead by six. That might be
the most important score line stat lineof that entire first half, The fact
that Reagan Sorenson didn't do a darnedthing and Stouts up by six. I
mean it is. That is goodbecause you'd think that she's not gonna get
held down for more than one half. If she is good on Transylvania for

(01:11:55):
doing that. We'll see who elsecan step up for the Blue Dovels.
Now, remember Anna much has threefouls. Asia Thornton, Lake and Ball
and Sydney Wright each have two forTransylvania. It'll be south basketball here to
start the second half. They'll movefrom left to right as you listen at
home. They're in the gray alternateuniforms of blue numbers Transylvania in the road

(01:12:15):
black uniforms with the maroon numbers outlinedin white and mune lettering and trim.
Stout will break the huddle and offwe go here in the second half.
Gonna be a fun run. We'rehappy to have you along with us on
news dock, WM EQ AM eighteighty men, Nomini Translator, W two
nine two EG one O six pointthree, FML, Claire and iHeartRadio station
starters back out for the Blue Devils. In fact, no, it will

(01:12:39):
not be Anna much with their threefouls. They're gonna go with Lauren Arns
instead of Anna Munch. But itis Wagner, Shaeffer, Sorenson and Geeson
out there for Stout as well.Sorenson. They chop over on the left
wing, go to Geese at theleft elbow in the corner to Shaper on
the right side on the skip passin the Geeson in the lane, back
out to Shaper wants the three andshe'll miss it off the side iron No

(01:12:59):
and Thornton with rebound. Here forTransylvania. Deeson went down running back.
She seems to be fine and Transylvaniasets it up. Here's work. They
move right to left. Here doesTransylvania on your radio dial? Lake and
ball on the left wing. They'retrying to post up thornton'side. Good catch,
Wagner helps, she misses, buta foul foul on Wagner got her
on the arm. I think shehad the ball initially and then just kind

(01:13:19):
of slid down to the arm andThornton will go to the line. Asia
Thornton, averaging fourteen point nine games, was named the All Conference first Team
last year, named the All TournamentMVP in the HCAC last year as well
as that free throw will go forThornton and make it a five point game.

(01:13:40):
Twenty nine twenty four South. Youknow, last weekend's an exciting one,
right, You finally get in theNCA tournament, you win both games.
Everything's exciting. Now. It's likethis is where the real business of
the day gets to you, right, like this is this is just another
level. You thought last week wasa nerve wracking It's gonna get even worse
this week. Here's Shaeffer in thefront court. After two makes from Thornton

(01:14:02):
at the free throw line, Sorensonat the right elbow, they find Shaffer
at the left elbow, takes atwo, it does not roll in,
and the rebound good box out therefrom Sydney Wright. Sydney Wright has it
for Transylvania. Twenty nine to twentyfive. Stout. Transylvania looks like they're
poised to go on a run here. Stout's got to figure out a way
to stop it before it starts.Worth on the high right, crosses over

(01:14:23):
to the high left, finds apast to Stacy on the left wing.
Thornton posting up inside Arne defense, arns still defense. Thornton gets around her,
hangs and pops and hits in thelane. They're going to Dajah Thornton
isolating four, and she is doingwell. Stout's gonna have to switch something
up defensively on her. It's atwo point game twenty nine twenty seven.
As Stout leaves out to Wagner, she'll step into a top of the key

(01:14:46):
three, throw up an airball.Airball from Wagner. It's all Transylvania to
start. Stout's gotta be careful here. Something happened here after the play.
Sorenson is going for the ball andTransylvania took exception to it, and so
Steve Matizuski was trying to calm everybodydown. I'm not really sure what that

(01:15:08):
was all about. Nonetheless, Transylvaniawith it. Stout up now only two
here at the start of the secondhalf, it's worth on the left wing.
They're trying to post up ball andsaid Thornton. Up at the top.
They will go into ball. She'llcatch block by Shaper and it's grabbed
by Shaper as well. She'll getthe block and the steel up. It
comes to Sorenson. Sorenson dribbling in, Sorenson looking Sorenson backing out on the
right side. She'll go inside togeese and at the right block out to

(01:15:30):
orange. Tough pass. Gotta gotrack it down. She will Shaper at
the top of the key. He'sright, looks nobody open. Somebody gonna
go back door it. Sorenson, she's fouled. No call, goes up
again, bowled again. Now theyfinally call it lac and ball helps her
up Lincoln Ball call him for herthird foul. Looked like she was fouled
the first time. They call itthe second time, and that's her third.

(01:15:55):
Sorenson would not be denied there atthe line. Now, Reagan Sorenson
first is in and out. Sorensonwe've talked about last week, her struggles
at the free throw line. She'sthree of four in this game. Second
one will go though, and she'sfour of five. Thirty to twenty seven.
Stout leads seven to fifty left togo. Third quarter worth across the

(01:16:19):
timeline for Transylvania. They get ascreen up top. Thornton was moving on
it. They passed to her insidecatches tough catch though, she had to
kick it out for a right wingthree, and that's good. Good for
Sydney. Right we're tied at thirtythirty all here with seven thirty five left
to play. Here in the quarter, pass up it comes to Shaper.
She'll go and get it, andStout somehow breaks the press. Geeseon at

(01:16:40):
the right wing, looking to pickit up. She'll go to Shaper,
Transylvania almost daring Stout to shoot athree. Right now, arns for the
free throw line to Geeson. Geesonin toward the lane, pops it out,
finds Sorenson at the free throw line. The two point jumper rattles in
thirty two thirty Stout leads seven ohnine to go here in the third quarter,
up and down play after a verydefensive second quarter, it's been an

(01:17:03):
offensive minded third here for both teams. Inside to Thornton, she catches and
she'll go up and over shape forthirty two. All timeout handh Iversen on
the Blue vels thet We talk aboutthe defense here because Thornton's getting too many
catches deep in the lane and theygot to figure this out quickly. We're
tied at thirty two. It's immedia timeout. We'll take it with them.
It's six fifty six to go herein the third. We're back after

(01:18:12):
Women's basketball and the NCAA tournament hereon News Talk w mEq. Welcome back
in here to UW Whitewater Catchl Gymnasium. The Blue Devils and the Pioneers tied
at thirty two after Stout took asix point lead to halftime. It has
been all Transylvania to start the thirdquarter of am outscorts Stout nine to three,
including three of four from the field, and Dejah Thornton has heated up.

(01:18:34):
They have gotten the ball to herdeep in the lane a few times
tonight in this third quarter, andshe now has fifteen points. She is
six of nine from the field andthree of five at the line. So
the Blue Devils will have it andthe Pioneers are going to back off the
press a little bit here. DWagner and we'll take it across the timeline

(01:18:54):
and Adam Much back in the gameat the right elbow shows the ball looks
and she threw it away right intoSidney Wright's hands. Nothing going the boot
Devil's way to start this third quarter, tied it thirty two. Though nothing
is in bad shape yet. It'sjust a matter of hey having to kind
of build your own momentum back andfigure out a way. Let at the

(01:19:15):
defensive end, as Stacy Kennedy stepsinto a three no good. Dejah Thornton
gets the rebound, goes up,misses it, and Geeson with the raid
on for Stout trying to claim shegot hit on the head. I don't
think she did. Here's Sorenson upon the right wing, hesitates, goes
up, hangs from the right clockand its scenes goes over top of Sydney
right. It's thirty four to thirtytwo Stout. With six oh eight to

(01:19:36):
go in the third quarter. SamSchafer set the check in at the next
dead ball. Here's Worth with itfor Transylvania. Remember Anna Much has three
fouls. He still only has twopoints in the game, though, and
they both come up the free throwline. If back Much is not even
attempted a field goals. They throwit away trying to find Thornton on that
give and go play and they throwit out of bounds on the left base

(01:19:58):
line, and then the twenty five. Sam Shaffer comes in for Brennan and
we see Arns coming out as well. Brennan in for the loot devils.
Rather so it is Wagner and Shaefergo to the bench, pardon me,
it's not Let's give you the fiveon the floor. Shaffer, Geeson,
Brennan much and Sorenson. Here isGeeson now to Brennan in the right corner,

(01:20:23):
Now to Geese at the right elbow. Geeson switches it over to Sorenson
on the left wing, puts iton the deck, drives left baseline out
It comes to Anna much tough catchthere. Bal Bake gets it in the
left corner. Sorenson took a three. It was block, no foul.
Thornton gets the block and she hasit now in transition. Brennan back to
defend. They find Kennedy Stacy intransition. She wanted a three, then
drove. They go back up topa top of the key three and it's

(01:20:44):
good from Emily Deal and it's thirtyfive thirty four Pioneers, And this is
why they're the defending national champs becauseof this sort of play. Right here,
Brennan on the right wing bounces intoAnna Much Anna Much in the right
short corner trying to clear out,and much now for Geeson in the right
corner, looking looking drives baseline stopsback out to Sorenson. They dare her

(01:21:05):
to shoot a three. She won'tand she'll go to Brennan. Bad pass
and now file called I think onTransylvania. Oh, they got Brennan for
the foul. Whoa holy cow.I thought they were gonna call that on
Transylvania. That they call Sydney Brennan. And it'll be out of bounds to

five eighty eighty four Lens Fertilizer. Now back to UW Stout Women's basketball and
the NCAA Tournament here on News Talkw mEq. Hey, welcome back in
here to UW Whitewater and the KetchelGymnasium. This game is definitely in the

(01:22:31):
balance right now. Four fifty threeto go, third quarter, thirty five
thirty four. Transylvania with the leadand the basketball. They have outscorts Stout
twelve to five. In this thirdquarter. They've outshot the Blue Devils four
per seven for Transylvania two per sevenper Stout. Blue doubles are zero three
from beyond the arc. They've onlymade three threes in this game. In

(01:22:51):
pact, Transylvania's only made four andI don't know why Julie Folks is over
here to going to see Manazuski. It was a foul call on Sidney Brennan.
I think they want to know howmany timeouts they have left? Is
that? What's the deal? Howmany timeouts they want? Or how many

(01:23:14):
oh, how many fowls they havehere? I think they didn't have the
right number of team fouls on theboard. Is the issue? Fowl was
called on Sidney Brennan. You two? Is well, they're going to keep
it two on the board. Iguess all right, I'm not really sure
what that was all about. Nonetheless, Transylvania, we'll have the basketball here

(01:23:35):
with Kennedy Stacey off on the leftwing. This is right right, nice
give and go here to Thornton. She'll go up for the bucket and little
back door cut she got from theright wing and cut right in behind the
whole defense underneath reverse layup thirty seventhirty four Transylvania. Stout's got to keep
their head about him. Here.Geeson in the lane kicks it to Arns
in the left corner. She's openedfor three and it is an airball.

(01:23:57):
Had to get past the outstretched armsof Dejah Thornton that long wingspan of hers
just affecting that shot. Blue Devilsneed to stop. There's Djah Thornton at
the top, Dejah Thornton out ofWorth, Worth back to Thornton. Thornton
wants to drive. It looks likeorange defenser. They go out to right
right driving on much touch Sayson frontand Thornton loses the basketball. They'll go
track it down with nine to shootout near the timeline, four minutes left

(01:24:20):
to go on the quarter, Transylvaniaby three. Worth on the right wing,
Worth going inside to Thornton. She'llcatch go up. She makes it
when two. I'm a shock blockand it's thirty nine thirty four Pioneers right
now, Transylvania is on a sevenzero run. Stout needs a response.
Much in the short corner on theright side, out to Shaper. They'll
go inside the geese and deflected passshowing away by Teal and coach Iverson might

(01:24:45):
need another time out here. BlueDevils cannot get anything going on the offensive
end. Transylvania is showing off theirlength as well deflecting passes, and the
Blue Devil's just not as active asthey need to be. They'll set up
a little swinging gate at the topof the key Thornton at the top they
go inside the teal. Rather turnaround, We'll go in forty one thirty
four Transylvania League time out Stout.I mean this is just turned on a

(01:25:10):
dime. Eighteen to five. Transylvaniahas outscored the Blue Levels in this quarter
and in the last six minutes andforty four seconds of gameplay. This has
been something that the Blue Levels theywanted to forget. But the positive is
you built up a six point leadat halftime. You've given up this massive

(01:25:32):
run to Transylvania. Here in thethird, the positive is you're only down
seven. I mean, Stout getsa little bit of a run going to
their own. They're right back intoit. So they can't let this get
any worse than it is. Andsomebody's got to step it up here for
Stout and figure out a way tostop the bleeding. Blue Devils have ten
from Wagner, ten from Sorenson, seven from Geesen Annah Mutch with only two

(01:25:54):
tonight, she has not even attempteda field goal and she's been limited with
foul trouble. That's been part ofthe issue of the Blue Devils for Transylvania.
They have nineteen from Thornton, ninefrom Stacy, five from Teal Now,
and the Blue Devils need a response. Can they get it? Transylvania
gonna back off the press a littlebit here, and here's Lexi Wager Sam

(01:26:16):
Schaeffer. They'll bring it across forthe Blue Devils. Pioneers just stop pressing,
and they just kind of sitting intheir half court offense per defense.
Rather as they go to Willie inthe post. Willy hands off to much
takes a free throw line jumper indrains, and that's exactly what the Blue
Devils needed. Forty one thirty sixTransylvania, two fifty seven A go here
in the third quarter. Blue Devilsjust need to stay close. You're going

(01:26:41):
into the fourth right at the top. Good back door cut, Stacy Kennedy
for Kennedy, Stacy, excuse mefor the two forty three thirty six Transylvania.
The back door cut is open rightnow for Transylvania to go to much
of the free throw line again. She'll take another two. She'll make it
again. Forty three forty thirty eight. Excuse me, Transylvania leaves so there's

(01:27:03):
a good response here offensively, andI'm much getting into some rhythm here.
Hopefully again it's not too late, but hopefully in the end it's not too
little too late. Here's Thornton insideon Willie all look like she traveled.
No call there, and that's areally bad note call right out on the
wing back to Thornton inside. Thorntonthen takes an extra dribble, losing out
of bounced out ball. Oh,she didn't touch it. I didn't think

(01:27:26):
Rosella Willie touched it. She's notarguing though, and so it'll be to
Transylvania out of bounds on the baseline. I don't know why Transylvania's not taking
it out yet. There they go. Thornton's gonna imbound this eight seconds to
shoot, two nine to go.Here in the third Stout down by five
Dejah, Thornton looking looking, looking, can't find anybody. She'll get it
in the short corner. This isStacy, Stacy, it's double team,

(01:27:49):
three to shoot, gotta get itoff. Throws up a prayer and it's
an airball and that's a shot clockviolation. Said, oh, listen,
So Stout gets the ball back. This is the kind of response they needed.
And now Brennan, Eason, andSorenson all checking back in for the
Blue Doves thirteen and sis Anamock's gonnaget arrest as well. So Schaeffer and

(01:28:13):
Wagner in there with her. Brennanthe only non starter out there. As
Transylvani, you're gonna try to givetheir team a little bit of a rest
here as well. They're gonna getKennedy Stacy out of the game for the
moment, and they'll bring in SierraKelmi Gore the shafer inside the Sorenson.
Sorenson pops the two and it goescrawls over the rim from the right elbow.

(01:28:38):
Forty three to forty. Transylvania leadsone forty two to go. Here
in the third quarter in the NCAATournament Women's Basketball Division three Sweet sixteen,
the winner plays the winner of whiteWater versus Hope tomorrow for a trip to
the final four. Off on theleft wing, this is kemil Gore guarded
by Brennan. Her pass goes uptop here for right, they go back

(01:28:59):
in the corn her bald Bake didn'ttake the three there to seal and now
foul on Brennan little hand checked foulthere on that drive by Temil Lord.
There's the second pushing it be outof mounds in Transylvania. Just the third
foul on Stout in the quarter andthe second on Brennan in the game.
I don't think they're gonna see DesiahThornton come out of this game again with
those two file picked up two earlyfouls. Hasn't picked up another one since

(01:29:23):
off on the right wing. Thisis worth Worth guarded by Sorenson, all
up in her face on that wing, face guarding her. There. They
going to Thornton in the post.Thornton trying to turn great block by Geeson
and Geeson steals it away. Whatdefense there by Amanda Geeson? Could that
out let it here for the BlueDevils. Here's Wagner in the front court.
Wagner dribbles around everybody into the lanetrying to find a pass out to
Brennan. Now they go to Sorensonin the right corner in the Geeson in

(01:29:44):
the lane. Keieson has to backit out. Now she'll go to the
hoop, goes up. No gooddipped out of there. Keeson goes and
grabs the offensive board Geeson looking,They'll go to Shafer on the left wing
for the tie. Good forty threeall with forty four seconds up to play
in the third. What a responsefrom the Blue Devils, Transylvania with a

(01:30:05):
basketball out a fourteen second differential betweengame and shot clock. Here at the
end of the third quarter, tealpressure from Wagner in the left corner.
Kemilgore are gonna drive all the waynow. She kicks it in the right
corner, open for a three. There it is good. Sydney Wright hits
the three from the right corner.Twenty seconds remain in the third. It's
Transylvania by three, forty six toforty three. Over stout shape her up

(01:30:27):
to Wagner. Hearing transition, Wagnergonna slow it down to Sorenson. Sowrenson
on the left wing, nine secondsto shoot. She threw it away,
Soarrenson trying to find Wagner on achop play over to the right side,
and she put a little too muchair under it, and they give Transylvania
a chance to get this one backdown court. Pioneers are gonna have the
ball to start the fourth quarter unlesswe see a tie up here in the
last seven point five seconds. Stopgonna just sit back here in their defense,

(01:30:58):
and here comes the embound Worth withit here for Transylvania. Worth going
to bring it forward with five, with four, lays it off here for
ball. Ball takes a three. It's blocked by Sorens and a grab by
Wagon and that'll end with the thirdquarter. There's forty six forty three.
Transylvania leads a great quarter for them. They outscored Blue Devils by nine,
take a three point lead of thefourth ten minutes remaining in the sweet sixteen

(01:31:21):
game. We'll be back right afterthis right here on your home for Blue

(01:32:11):
the NCAA tournament here on news Talkwm EQ. Well special thanks to Parkview
and to a Lens Fertilizer for bringingyou today's Blue Devils game. A special
thanks to our friend Max Sales Repback in the office there of getting some
sponsors on for this run through thetournament. I know we didn't cover the
Blue Devils throughout the course of theregular season, so we kind of slapped

(01:32:32):
this together a little bit and it'sbeen fun. It's been great to bring
it up to you. It's beengreat to have Dan Price on the dials
for you as well, bringing youtonight's game here on Newstalk wm e Q.
All right, forty six to fortythree Transylvania with the lead on Stout
Stout students trying to make some noisehere and make their presence known here at
the at the end to our right, as the Blue Doubles were outscored twenty

(01:32:57):
three to fourteen in that third quarter, if they had a nice response,
the game was getting away. Theywere down by seven They're now down by
just three, and it'll be Transylvaniawith the ball to start this fourth quarter.
So it has been a high levelgame. Transylvania has everything that they
could poke four and more. Iknow, if Pope cour is the right
way to say much gets fouled, that's gotta be a foul on Transylvania.

(01:33:17):
Much. Add the steal, andshe's fouled by Sydney Wright. He'll be
Blue Devils basketball just eleven seconds into the fourth quarter. And that's what's
what Anna Mutch will get you latein a game. Right there, Blue
Devils with it. Here's Shaper acrossthe timeline. She'll find Sorenson on the
right wing. They'll trap her inthat zone defense they've been playing all night.

(01:33:40):
Looks like a two to three. It's more kind of like a junk
zone. They just kind of movedto the side of the ball and they
just try to rely on that long, lanky frame that they have to deflect
passes and get steals decent here toSorensen at the free throw line, Gonna
dribble it out back over to Arnsfive to shoot, Gonna take a contested
three. That's way too strong rebound. Worth was not the shot they wanted.

(01:34:01):
And there's a little reaching foul bySchaeffer charged to the two. That's
a first foul, so not afirst terribly bad one for South to take.
You don't want to take it thatfar away. But now the officials
try to cut up some of thoseregions at that end of the court.
Here's worth with it for Transylvania.Up forty six to forty three, nine

(01:34:25):
O nine to go here in thefourth quarter. A trip to the final
or to the Elite eight rather ison the line against either Whitewater or Hope
tomorrow. Here at Ketche Gymnasium,Kennedy Stacy bounces off for Dejah Thornton.
Now back to Stacy as she movesto the right wing looking for help.
Now she'll crossover, takes a topshot and that'll be thrown out of bounds,
soof Thornton tries to tip it backin. Stout had it for a
moment and a shot clock violation isthe call. Nobody had possession there and

(01:34:50):
it's a shot clock violation. Afterthat, just a real bad shot from
Kennedy Stacy. So we saw somereally good offense for about five six minutes
for trans getting the ball into DajahThornton going high low a lot, letting
the tall, lanky frame of Thorntoncatch that ball and get a lot of
really good layups. But since thenthey've kind of gone away from it a
bit. Stout's taking them out ofit with their defense. Here's Sorenson into

(01:35:13):
much in the right corner, Stoutdown by three geeseon at the right elbow.
Gieson gonna take it herself. It'sblocked and it tipped out of there.
Thornton trying to check it down inthe corner. She will worth off
for ball. Stout's gonna get backand they're gonna slow things down. Or
Transylvania another steel on the offensive endfor Stout by Transylvania forty six forty three
Tramsy with the league Kennedy Stacey withit here guarded by Anna Mutch hand off

(01:35:38):
to right on the right wing, guarded by Shaeffer. She picks up her
dribble and go inside. Nice shotby Wagner to step in front of it
and get the steal and Dejah Thorntondangerous past to Shafer. She'll track it
down though. Here on the nearside, and now slow things down,
Shaeffer looking, she'll go to Sorensonin the right corner. Sorenson to Geeson
in the short corner, out toShaeffer. Shaeffer puts it on the deck

(01:35:59):
much in the left owner much looking, can't find anybody now, Sorenson from
the elbow, two point jumper, good snada. I don't think they want
to rely on the mid range game, but if they have to, they're
gonna go that way. Seven fortythree to go here in the fourth it's
a one point game. Forty sixforty five Transylvania leeds Worth with it goes
over to Stacy on the left wing, guarded by Wagner. Wagner. Now

(01:36:20):
they go into Thornton. Thornton guardedby Geeson, poked away and a foul
foul on Geeson here before any kindof Oh, they're gonna get Wagner for
a reach coming back around. Foulon Wagner. It would have just been
the second on Geeson. So notexactly what you wanted there for. Stout
go to Thornton here at the leftelbow. She'll look it right back inside

(01:36:43):
and the layup is good. Goodlittle giving go there out of the inbounds
play for Kennedy Stacey, who makesit forty eight to forty five. Transylvania
Geeson here at the free throw line, trying to fit it into much in
the left block area, picks itup and a foul called on Thornton hurt
third. Thornton called for hurt third, and it'll be on the bounds to
Stout. They should. So yougot a couple of big time players for

(01:37:05):
both teams picking up their third foulhere seven thirteen to go. Here in
the fourth, Stout down by three. The inbounds goes out in the left
wing to much much nice little shoulderfake takes the two and she'll drain it.
That's part of what Stout has thatI don't think Transylvania as is the
mid range jumper game. They mighthave to start relying on it. They're

(01:37:27):
starting to here and this might bethe time to pull that tool out of
the tool chest. Indadejah Thornton. They isolate with her geeseon inside. She
is foul on the bump and she'llgo to the line to shoot. Think
at this point you're almost in asituation. If she catches the ball that
deep, you almost have to foulher because she is not a great free
throw shooter, just a fifty eightfree throw shooter on the season, and

(01:37:47):
tonight she's three of five there aswell, so shootings you might have to
keep putting her at the line. The problem is Stout doesn't have a whole
lot of players to give too manymore fouls left. You've got Larns Geeson
have one and keepshon now with twoafter that file, I should say Thornton
wildly. This is at forty eightforty seven Transylvania, and one more free

(01:38:10):
throw coming Sidney Brennan back in herefor Stout. I don't know why they
haven't let her into the game here, but apparently she was too late to
the table. One more for Thorntonand that is good. Forty nine forty
seven Transylvania. Stout trails by two. Sorenson's gonna get a quick rest here

(01:38:30):
and Sidney Brennan will come in forSorenson with fourteen, Wagner with ten,
Dejah Thornton with nineteen, and KennedyStacy with thirteen for the Pioneers. Has
not been much between these two teamshere tonight, Lexi Wagner on the high
left. Wagner goes into Much atthe left elbow on ball, She'll shoot
over top of her and she willdrain the two point jumper. And we
are tied at forty nine. AnnaMuch getting the mid range game going.

(01:38:57):
She now has ten and the BlueDevils have players in double figures. Left
wing. This is kemel Gore guardedby Wagner. Brennan hedges out and switches
on her, trying to go inside. They throw it away. That's Stout
basketball trying to find ball inside andthere is way too much juice on that
pass from Sydney right and it's aturnover to Stout and the Stout fans starting
to make some noise. Oh,they've been making noise all night, but

(01:39:21):
I think they can feel maybe arun coming up here for Stout. Here
is Shaper. The shaper into thefourth court, moves left onto the wing,
picks it up, goes into MuchMuch, takes a little runner.
It's short decon with the rebound putback yes fifty one forty nine, Stout
regains the lead. It's the firsttime they've led since the five to twenty

(01:39:42):
three mark of the third quarter. It's not about ten minutes. But they're
now back out in front by twoBlue Devil's with a good run here.
They've scripped it up across and theythrew it away. Sidney Wright just threw
it away, trying to find KemelGore on the far sideline, the twenty
fourth keem of the Stacey Ajah Nortongonna check out. I'm out called by
Transylvania. The Blue Devils fans loveit. Five forty nine to go and

(01:40:11):

to UW Stout Women's basketball and theNCAA tournament here on News Talk wm EQ.
Well, if anybody's a WW fan, you know the Daniel Brian Yes,
yes, yes, Champ, that'swhat the Blue Devils fans are doing.
Transylvania's fans tried to cheer during thattimeout. I didn't hear one of

(01:41:15):
them Blue Devils fans channing the entiretimeout. Our final media timeout with five
forty nine to play and the BlueDevils leading fifty one to forty nine here
over at Transylvania, Blue Devils haveoutscored Transylvania eight to three in this fourth
quarter, fourteen points from Sorenson, ten from Much, ten from Wagner,
and nine from Geeson here tonight,Transylvania struggling to defend and struggling to not

(01:41:43):
turn the ball over. They've turnedit over a few times. As of
late, they've turned it over eleventimes now total in the game. Stout
with basketball out of that timeout, her shaper on the right wing in the
corner Brennan's opened for a three, way too strong, but Much is going
to track it down in the cornerup to Wagner. Oh, she thought
about the three spins and then itwon't go and it's rebound by Thornton.
Oh, that's a tough one notto go for the blue doubles fifty one

(01:42:04):
forty nine stout Wagner. Maybe betteroff taking the three there, but she
saw an open driving lane, justmissed the runner. Here's right on the
right wing here for Transylvania, Kennedy. Stacy moves it around left wing for
worth Worth, up top to Thornton. Thornton off on the right wing for
right right in the corner to KennedyStacy, she drives right baseline. She

(01:42:27):
takes the two. It's good. Were tied at two fifty to one,
all at five two to go,tied at fifty one. Here's much left
baseline drive picks up the dribble andtwo double dribbled. Oh, she just
I don't know what she did there, but she just forgot that she dribbled,
and she commits the violation and theturnover game. She's been a little

(01:42:48):
out of sorts tonight. Has AnnaMutch and part of that, I think
because she picked up that early foul. So she's still on three though,
So nobody with four for Stout, nobody with four for Transylvania either, but
a number of players on both teamswith three. You've got much in Wagner
each with three percentut right ball andThornton on with three for Transylvania. We

(01:43:10):
are tied at fifty one with fourforty four to go. Transylvania with it
on the left wing, here's ballmoving in. They look for the back
door cut from Kennedy Stacy. Shefalls over, then loses it. Mana
much dining for the ball, tryingto tie it up, and she will
come away with it and stuff getsthe steal up becomes to Sorens and Sorens
and then is the plucked in transitionby Stacy. What a play, Holy

(01:43:30):
cows f Ja, it'll be outof bounds to stop here for the Blue
Devils, it's the third foul onTransylvania with four twenty nine to go.
Oh my goodness, do you thinkthese teams want to win? I mean,

(01:43:51):
Holy cow Arn's on the right baselinetwenty eight to shoot. They'll go
into Wagner Wagner gonna drive base. She'll switch it to Geeson at the left
elbow. Easton gonna drive in,bounces for Sorenson, goes up block by
Thornton on the health defense and it'sgrabbed out of there by right What a
block from Thornton? Holy cow?Up they come in transition. Here's Stacy

(01:44:14):
on the left wing. They tryto post up Thornton inside. Stout cuts
it off nicely, Kennedy Stacy handsup now for right Hi lo Insid would
probably throw it out of bound.Stout basketball four roh five to go.
Tied at fifty one. Oh mygoodness. They don't have the timeouts on
the board here at Ketchel Gymnasium.I believe Stout only has one, and

(01:44:35):
I believe Transylvania has two. LeftStout had to burn a few in the
third to try to stop the gamefrom getting out of hand, and they
did. You gotta give me credit. It worked out. Boo Devils have
been on a seventeen to ten runssince then. Wagner are gonna pop a
three off the front iron, norebound for Sorenson goes up, no call

(01:44:55):
and no basket either. Wagner juststepped into a transition three and missed it.
But Sorenson was there for the rebounds. She just couldn't get the jot
to go off. Here's Worth offto Kennedy Stacy on the right wing,
Hi Low with Thornton. She'll catchshe's fouled and long Dejah Thornton will go
to the line. Let's see whatthey get for the fowl here. I
think Wagner and it is her fourthfifty three fifty one Pioneers three thirty nine

(01:45:19):
to go. If there's three Kennedysin the game, that Kennedy Harris will
get a rare appearance here for TransylvaniaSenior from Somerset, Kentucky. Wagner is
gonna check out the shape, aregonna check in the Blue Devil's gonna have
to kind of go back to thelineup They got them here before Wagner.

(01:45:40):
With Wagner's four fouls, Jajah Thorntonat the line again. She has struggled
there tonight four of seven and thisone is off the mark as well,
and it's rebound by Geesen here forStout up to Shaper fifty three fifty one.
Transylvania leads Blue Devils down by two. Sorenson around the left wing here

(01:46:00):
to Arns Arns back to Sorenson uptop, Shaper on the right wing.
Good defense fund of the Pioneers inside, they'll switch at the Sorenson Now Arn's
at the top of the key rightwing for Shaper. Shaper can't find a
pass. Arns again, difficult passover to Sorenson. Sorenson hangs, takes
a tough two, No good whogets the rebound. It is last touched
by Stout. It's Transylvania basketball asit runs out of bounds. Stout could

(01:46:23):
not grab the rebound there and it'sout of bounds in Transylvania with three to
eleven left and Stout once again. It needs a big defensive stop. But
it's the link of Transylvania that hasdisrupted Stout's offense. Today Transylvania wins.
That'll be the storyline if you're aStout fan, that they were just too
long and too able to affect Sorensonand others underneath. As there's a good

(01:46:45):
job by Geese and stepping in frontof a post pass for Thornton and it's
a steal. Here's Shaper for Stout. Pioneers by two. Sorenson right block,
ball fake, but you can't findthe shot to go out to Shaper.
Arn's now on the left wing. They're going too in the left short
corner. Much takes a tough twoand hits fifty three all at two thirty
six to go. You got yourmoney's worth if you came to Whitewater Here

(01:47:09):
tonight, here's worth across the timeline. Two twenty seven AG fifty three all
our score left wing now here forHarris and oh Shafer got foul, Yes,
she did. Blake and Ball gaveher an elbow in the face,
and now she says it was ablop. She's gotta be careful. This
is a two stout basketball. Onthe turnover, Shaeffer's got an elbow in

(01:47:33):
the face. I think of thisis D one. You might be headed
headed to the monitor. Judy Folksis Julie Folks rather is still indicating it's
a flop, and it was not. As Stout gets the INMBO fifty three
all two nineteen to go. Holdon to something, here's Much at the

(01:47:55):
elbow takes a two, no good. Sorenson fights for it and it's rebounded
here by Transylvania, and I thinkthey get Sorenson for a foul stop foul
strip, I think, and thatis the fifth foul on Stout. So
free throws coming up here for thePioneers at the other end. Can't make
those fouls now late as both teamsare in the bonus for the remainder of

(01:48:16):
the game. It is Kennedy Stacyas the line of seventy two free throw
shooter. Kennedy Stacy is just oneof four here tonight fifty three all two
nine to go. Stacy's first goodrattled in fifty four fifty three. Transylvania

(01:48:39):
leads one more coming here for KennedyStacey and that is good. Fifty five
fifty three. Transylvania leads it hereover Stout. They're going to go back
to the press. It's Amanda Geeseanand Sam. She to break it and

(01:49:00):
they'll do it pretty easily. AndDeeson into the front court. He almost
was able to take that straight tothe hoop. With Transylvania getting back on
defense. Sorenson here between the wheels. Shafer now on the right wing,
good past to much mid range twopoint Jane no Sorenson Sky's in for the
remound, gets it, kicks itout to Shaffer Deeson in the short corner
left side. Needs to get apass out, can't It's deflected and stolen

(01:49:21):
away. Oh there goes Kennedy Stacyup to worth Worth with the layup and
it goes fifty seven fifty three.Transylvania won thirty five to play Scouts.
Gotta get a buccaneer. Absolutely hasto get a bucket here. Bad pass,
it's out of mounds. The stoutdeflected by right. Why things were
starting to look up for the twoDevils and just a little quick fotten girl

(01:49:43):
one for Transylvania have them up fiftyseven fifty three one twenty nine to play
Shaper here on the near sideline, goes in the much at the top of
the key. Mutch Wagner on theright wing thought about the three instead steps
and takes a two. It's nogood rebound Kennedy Stacey. They tied her
up though, to jump ball.Stout's got the arrow and that will save

(01:50:04):
it for now here for the BlueDevils, Stout ball out of mounds on
the right baseline. They're gonna bringSidney Brennan into the game. Down to
the four with one to go stepand now you almost have to have a
bucket. You miss here, andnow you got to start thinking about fowling
Shafer looking, looking, looking, can't find anybody get open, and they'll

(01:50:28):
go to much in the left corner. Took the three. I think Thornton
got a piece of that one,and a foul called here on Schaefer on
the block is it's grabbed by Lakeand Balls and Ball goes to the line
to shoot suit free throws and sorensA'm gonna check back in do not know
why Sorenson was not in the gameon that inbound play see Silanty in the
Times. Why was she not inthe game? There? Holy col not

(01:50:54):
the line full senspinion with thirty twoBlake and Ball at the line, the
seventy five percent free throw shooter fiftyseven fifty three Transylvania and Ball's free throw
is good. Now again, itstill will be a two possession game even
if she makes this free throw. But the odds become way worse for Stout
going down the stretch. Stout hasonly made four threes here this evening,

(01:51:16):
and Transylvania's only made five and Stoutfour of seventeen. That's been part of
the issue. Long remound and Shaper'sgot it here for Stout and yeah,
I mean she had to You gotto call a foul there. She had
to clear him out to get away. So it's a five point game.
Shaper into the front court. Shaperhad it poked away from behind, scrab
by ball and a foul. Ohnow, Kennedy Stacey took it, ted
up. What is she doing?Kennedy Stacey just started pointing and yelling at

(01:51:42):
Reagan Sorenson, and the officials justturned the blind eye to it. With
one oh four to go, KennedyStacy, I mean literally, Julie Fulks
ran onto the court, grabbed herand pulled her over to the bench and
said stop because I don't need youto get a technical foul. Here Shaffer
called for the fourth foul. Akemil Gored checks back in. Now you
got ball at the line, soyou can't make or you can make it

(01:52:05):
a three possession game here with twomade free throws, a miss keeps it
in the realm of possibility. Butshe makes the first fifty nine fifty three
Pioneers with the league one more makeYou're still a minute four left, so
there's still time, but it becomesreally tough per Stout. They're turning the

(01:52:26):
pressure up as well. Ball's freethrow is good. Six seeds of fifty
three, Pioneers leader in Transylvania andone to four to go, So Stout
needs a bucket. They need itquick, and they probably need a three
one oh four shaper with it airfor Stout. Down seven, Shafer takes

(01:52:47):
a screen for piece and they goto a Wagner in the corner. She
lost it. Stout just has,I mean absolutely lost it in the last
two minutes of play, and theygot way out of their game. They
got way out of what they doin Transylvania just kind of put a little
pressure on and I think Stout justkind of couldn't figure out how to deal
with it. And right now theBlue Devils are gonna have to try to

(01:53:08):
trap, maybe get a steal andthen get a foul and hope for the
best. Arn is gonna check innumber of subs here, who's gonna be
much Arns Geese and Lodermeyer and Sorensonon the floor and Thornton's gonna inbound in
front of the sout bench, andshe'll get it to Worth and loder Meyer
will follow howl her excuse me.Worth a seventy one percent free throw shooter.

(01:53:31):
It's still a three possession game,so the free throws here. Of
course, you hope for some misses, but I mean that's the only way
really back into this game for Stout. The seams of the game for you,
well, Blue Devils were right there, but Transylvania's gone on a seven
zero run in the last minute fortyone. Stout has been held scoreless obviously

(01:53:53):
during that time, and eleven totwo running the last five minutes. That
one is missed by Worth. Stoutis also one of their last ten to
three point shots. They just couldnot make the threes here tonight. They
got their three point shooters out therenow, but they're hoping it's not too
little, too late, but it'sstarting to feel that way. Worth misses

(01:54:15):
and it's rebounded by Stout. Soa seven point games still fifty four seconds
left. Wagner across the timeline. They gotta to find somebody with some space
here to shoot. They'll go toWagner on the high left, dribbling through
some trees. They'll go to Shaffer'sgotta make it from the wing. No
good, and it falls off andit's out of bounds off of Transylvania.
So Stout will have a possession herewith thirty nine seconds left in a new

(01:54:40):
twenty the game for Pennsylvania, Shafferdan bound Stout needs a bucket quickly.
The thirty nine seconds left, wego out to Sorenson. She'll find Wagner
on the wing. Wagner it hasher shot blocks. Sawnson goes and gets
it. Shaffer in the corner takesthe three. That's too strong. Much
is followed in one Okay, twentyeight to play. Sixty to fifty five,

(01:55:02):
Pioneers lead, So a free throwhere can certainly go a long way,
make it a four point game, and now you're just hoping for missus.
Foul is called the newcomers here forthe Pioneers, Kennedy Stacey didn't get
the foul its er second fifteen, few more subs, they're gonna get Djah

(01:55:29):
Thornton out and it's gonna check backin along with Wright. Officials still talking
about things here and what needs tobe done. You're gonna have a much
at the line. Sixty to fiftyfive Transylvania, thirty point eight to go,
one free throw coming and that onefor much is good. So four

(01:55:50):
point game, sixty to fifty sixthe lead for Transylvania, and Transylvania will
take a timeout and they'll advance theball. Fluo Devils are right there,
right there with the number two rankedteam in the country. And I thought
for some times here in this fourthquarter they had them on the ropes.
Remember they led to the Blue Devilsfifty one to forty nine with five twenty

(01:56:13):
six to go, But since thenit's been mostly Pioneers on an eleven to
five run and have set them uphere to potentially move on to the Elite
eight. This just shows you Stoutfinished third in the regular season in the
YAK they won the YAK Conference tournament. They finished the season, I should
say, with the two games theywon earlier third twenty three and seven,

(01:56:38):
an eight and six in conference, and they're taking this team in Transylvania,
according to the Polsters, the secondranked team in the country to the brink.
So I got to imagine, youknow, don't want to count our
chickens, certainly, but next yearWayak teams, I mean they're gonna be

(01:56:58):
dominating the polls. How good theseteams are Inbounds goes to Worth and Arns
will follow her. With twenty ninepoints six to play, sixty to fifty
six, Transylvania leads Worth goes tothe line. Worth tonight is zero two
at the line. Remember she missedtwo and their only trip this evening,
But she is a seventy one throwShoot's gonna check back in for her.
Linked on defense, Stout had itright. Stout had all that moment and

(01:57:25):
everything going halfway through the fourth,it's kind of slowly ticked away here.
Now the Blue Devils gonna get theirsubs back in or not. They're not
gonna let them in yet. Idon't know ei they're not letting them in
yet a little more free throw herefor worse, she missed the first and

(01:57:45):
the second is gonna rattle in.Sixty one to fifty six. The three
point shooters back out for the BlueDevils. Lodermeyer and Deeson is checking out.
Stout will not take it time outto advance it here. I think
they only have one left, buta three here makes it a two point
game and makes it way more interestingdown the stretch. Here's shaper across the

(01:58:08):
timeline. Kennedy Stacy provides pressure.Wagner makes the move, She'll step in.
She was foul. No, itbounces to Sorenson. She'll take the
two ball to inbound. With nineteenpoint two to go, She's looking.
She wants to time out and shegets it. Fought that Wagner was fouled.
There looked like a lot of armon that three point shot. Not

(01:58:30):
tall though. Nineteen point two toplay. Pioneers sixty one stout fifty eight
now a turnover, which makes itreally interesting as well. So don't pack
it up yet, Instagram and Facegame is not over. Tajus Thornton with
twenty two tonight, d twenty fiveis her career high. She set that

(01:58:51):
against Wisconsin Lutheran earlier this year onNovember sixteenth. That was their opening game
of the season. They won thatgame by only six points points. As
defending national champions, they beat AUWClaire by just twelve earlier this year.
Old Claire Blue Golds, of course, finished out of the WYAX Tournament in
seventh this year in the eight teamsin the WAYAC and they went down to

(01:59:13):
Transylvania and almost beat them down there. I mean they hung with them,
that's for sure. Lake and balland inbound here for Transylvania from the near
sideline. You'll set up a lineof Pioneers on the far sideline and they'll
run toward the ball here to tryto get the inbound inbound will be tipped,
almost stolen. Oh boy, Arn'sgot the tip, but Worth got
to it, and she is fouled. The seventeen points six to go,

(01:59:35):
so look one free throw maker. It goes back to a two possession game.
But so that's kind of slowly beenchipping away here to get the lead
through fouling. The fowl is calledon ada much for her fourth, and
you've got Worth at the line shooting. So I mean she makes one,
you feel pretty good at your Transylvania. But she does make the first.

(01:59:57):
But even then I think the BlueDevils again. Quick bucket, especially if
she misses this one, makes itreal interesting down the stretch. One more
for work that is good. Shemakes them both back to a five point
game. Sixty three fifty eight Pioneerslead. You're over Stout and Stout is
going to take a time out sothey can advance the ball seventeen point six
to play well. It certainly hasbeen a fun run for Scout so far.

(02:00:19):
We hope it's not over yet,but it certainly is now feeling that
way with Transylvania up by five andonly seventeen point six seconds remaining, so
it's been a lot of fun.Again. We really appreciate Parkview and Let's
Fertilizer for coming on and sponsoring heretoday and great to have them. I
know there are big sponsors of theWIA Wrestling tournament updates that we've provided the

(02:00:41):
last few weeks over on Loose Country, so it's great to have them along
with us and all the great fansand folks fanc the Menominee supporting this team.
If it comes to an end tonight, if this is it, then
I'll tell you what the future isbright. Remember Lauren Arnes is the only
graduate for Stout that is leaving. All the other players will be back next
year, and I'm sure they'll bethinking about running it back, and not

(02:01:02):
only running it back, but maybehosting right getting at least an opening round
Todd host and who knows, younever know what the rules and with geography,
how to go for the second round, but if they have a good
enough season, they certainly could bein line to host that second weekend as
well. But it feels like theBlue Devil's season meant be coming to an

(02:01:23):
end here. Sixty three fifty eightPioneers lead stout with the basketball stout just
four of twenty one from beyond thearc. Now, number of those have
been kind of forced threes here late. Hard to kind of pull that against
them necessarily, But the Blue Devilsadvance the ball on the timeout, they'll
go into Sorenson in the lane outto Shaper steps into a high arcing three.

(02:01:45):
It's short. Wagner tries to tipit out and can't. It is
lost into the front court. Stacypardon Kennedy, Stacey has it. She's
fouled. Is seven point seven ago. Stop really wants see Wagner pointalle and
here through Transylvania with god blest yearsand the sibowel a Lexi Wright take me

(02:02:05):
in. Tears in her eyes asshe comes to the bench, and she'll
get a nice big round of applausethere from the lou double faithful too and
again a graduate student. But she'sgot another year to finish. Your graduate
program and one more year left eligibility, so she can come back and play
next year, much to the happinessof Stouts. That shot don't miss,

(02:02:26):
so it can only be a sixpoint game max. Here for Kennedy Stacy,
the problem is seven point seven left, and I think Stout may have
one time out left that they canThey can take it quick and advance the
ball and not have to burn timeoff the cloth. Let's see here that
is a wildly missed pre throw lostout to Brennan. Brennan grabs it up
to much, gotta get a quickshot off. Sorenson will take it here

(02:02:48):
in transition she steps in and thenmisses it at the buzzer, and that's
it. Still Transylvania holds on sixtythree fifty eight. They've been Stout tonight
in the sweet sixteen. Blue Devilsfans who made the trip will give a
big round of applause here to thisStout team. They thought they'd be playing
tomorrow night. You can tell onthe faces that they thought they had the

(02:03:10):
game plan. They did, andup until about the two and a half
minute mark to Goo, it feltlike Stout had a real good chance to
win this games. Unfortunately, arun for the Transylvania Pioneers gets them into
the Elite Age. They'll take downthe winner of Whitewater versus Hope, the
game that is played after ours hereat Sunny Let's take a two minute break.
We'll wrap things up on our postin show. Right after this.

(02:05:46):
NCAA Tournament here on News Talk WMQ. Now welcome back in here to Whitewater
and Catchel Gymnasium. The Blue Devilsfall in the sweet sixteen sixty three to
fifty eight to the defending national champbeing Transylvania Pioneers, and they now extend
their win streak to sixty three games. But the Blue Devils gave the gave
it Transylvania all they could handle. Here tonight again pecanoots and with you Dan

(02:06:11):
Price, our producer back in studio'srecap, the SATs real quick for you.
Stout Out rebounds Transylvania forty two tothirty two. Tonight they had got
nineteen offensive rebounds of the eight ofTransylvania, and Stout turned it over fifteen
times, fifteen times for Transylvania aswell. Now again, you know I
don't know what all is gonna happentonight with Hope and Whitewater. I imagine
that their game against Transylvania is gonnabe a great game, regardless of who

(02:06:35):
comes out of that Hope Whitewater gametonight. But I'd imagine that if Transylvania
makes the run back to the Finalfour, we'll see how things go.
But they're gonna probably look back tothe Sweet sixteen game and they're gonna say
that's one of the tougher ones weplayed all season long. Certainly, the
final score line looks like this.Reagan Sorensen gets sixteen points tonight and four

(02:06:56):
of five shooting at the free throwline. She was ozho of three sadly
from the on the arc. TheBlue Devils as a team just ten of
a partly four of twenty three frombeyond the arc and ten of twelve at
the line. Somehow, some way, Transylvania shot twenty eight free throws in
this game and Stout shot just twelve. I have no idea how that's the
case. Stout was in the laneall night tonight. They got packed,
they got fouled, and I thinkthey deserve more than twelve free throws compared

(02:07:20):
to twenty eight for Transylvania. Butwe know how I look at the world,
and that's probably not the most unbiasedof ways. Transylvania shoots forty six
two of forty seven shooting. Stoutgot off sixty six shots and we're twenty
two of sixty six on the evening. Like I said, Sorenson, sixteen
Much, fifteen ten for Wagner.Deeson comes up five point short of one

(02:07:41):
thousand, But she'll be back nextyear, and likely in that first game
of the season, I'd imagine she'lleclipse the thousand point mark and be one
of the I believe the sixteenth playerin Stout history to cross that mark,
after Anna Much and Reagan Sorenson didit earlier this season. Daijah Thorton gets
twenty two points seventeen for Kennedy's tonightand seven as well for Worth, six

(02:08:03):
for Wright, three for Ball, five for til one for Harris, two
for kemigre here this evening for Transylvania. So the Blue Devils fall short here
tonight, sixty three to fifty eightto Transylvania. And I'll tell you what,
it's been a lot of fun tobring it to you here on the
radio. We certainly hope we're ableto bring you more Stout sports in the
future, get back back rolling again, maybe come football season and maybe next

(02:08:26):
basketball season as well. We'll keepworking to make that happen. And we
of course appreciate all the support ofpark View and Lentz and all the folks
in me Nomine who listened into tonight'sgame. I got a number of texts
from a bunch of old old oldStout friends, right Jake Boostrom and of
course the Steve Schwantz at the gamehere as well. A number of the

(02:08:46):
coaches from Stout who are listening fromAfar. Of course softball and baseball are
down heading on the way to Floridato take in the games there, so
they're open to their season, sothey were all listening as well. So
unfortunate the Blue Devils couldn't come awaywith a win, but a lot of
support from the folks of Monomine andwe certainly love you and appreciate all that
you do to support us here inthese endeavors. And I know it was

(02:09:07):
a lot of fun for Dan Priceto get back on the dials and to
bring you a Stout game. He'sbeen bringing Stout games to folks on the
radio for longer than a lot ofthanks. A number of these girls on
this team have been alive, sothat's pretty awesome for him to get back
on the dials as well. Especiallythanks Casey Parrot Our sid for giving you

(02:09:28):
at Whitewater for being great hosts. We're not going to get to see him
much, but from what I saw, they've been great so far, so
appreciate all of them as well.To Dewey to air and all the folks
at Stout Athletics, and of courseto the coaching staff, end of the
players here for those wonderful style women'sbasketball team. They'll be back next year.
They'll be ranked, i'd imagine tostart the season, and it's going
to be a fun season next seasonas well. That's how this thing works.

When you get to the NCAA tournamentone and done. Man, it's

but it was certainly a lot offun to bring it to you here

score here tonight, it's Transylvania movingon to the LED eight. They score
sixty three. U w Stout endstheir season. They score fifty eight.
