American Now live from Johnson field House right here in Menomine, Wisconsin.
Here's Pete Knutson from Johnson field House. You're in Menominee.
We welcome you into second round NCAA Division three Women's
basketball coverage here on the NCAA Sports Network. It is
(01:11):
the number five overall seed, the Whipmen College Blues at
twenty seven and one on the season, winners of the
Northwest Conference from Wallawalla, Washington, taking on the Post School
here in Menomine Wisconsin the uwy Blue Devils at twenty
and seven on the year, the runners up in the
regular season in the powerful WIAC Conference. Hello everybody, Pecautson
(01:34):
went you here live court signed on what should be
an exciting night of basketball in the Division three landscape.
Everybody punching their tickets to the Sweet sixteenth tonight.
Speaker 1 (01:43):
A lot of games already underway.
Speaker 3 (01:45):
In fact, this is the second to last game to
get underway of the day, the only game that tips
off after ours.
Speaker 1 (01:50):
He's Illinois Wesleyan at Trine.
Speaker 3 (01:53):
The winner of this game will take on the winner
of a WYAK battle between Lacrosse and Whitewater, which will
get underway in just.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
A few minutes.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
It does look like the Blue Devils or the Blues
of Whitman will be headed to Scranton next week. To
Scranton has a twenty one point lead on Bates at
the end of the third quarter. They are the overall
one seed in this quadrant. Puff the bracket, Carnegie Mellon
is up twenty eight to twenty.
Speaker 1 (02:19):
Five on John Hopkins.
Speaker 3 (02:21):
The winner of that game will take on likely scrant
in the Sweet sixteen.
Speaker 1 (02:25):
So that's how things set up today.
Speaker 3 (02:26):
The WYAK went four and one yesterday and if not
for a late a couple of brethrows for Wartburg, he
went went five and oh Is Steven Spoint lost by
just one on a heartbreaker at Gas Stavis yesterday. For
the Blue Devils and the Blues, they both did it
in pretty convincing passion. In yesterday's contest, it was pretty
impressive what they were able to do. Is Whitman won
(02:47):
seventy seven to fifty four over Superior and they were
led by twenty five and twelve from Karinn Baker, the
All American, the tall center for this Whitman squad that's
outscored Superior fifty four to twenty two in the paint.
Speaker 1 (03:02):
An impressive performance for them.
Speaker 3 (03:04):
But the Blue Devils had an impressive performance against a
ripping team that was better than the Superior team. The
women went up against eighty seven to fifty seven win
for the Blue Devils and they got thirty two points
from there All American in Reagan Sorenson, and.
Speaker 1 (03:16):
She only played twenty four minutes last night.
Speaker 3 (03:18):
Ben Iverson did a pretty good job limiting the minutes
number starters so that they could have a shot.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
It's being more fresh tonight on this quick turnaround.
Speaker 3 (03:27):
As you take a look at her statistics on the season,
over seventeen points a game, she's a second leading scorer
in Stout history coming into tonight's play. An amazing player
for this Blue Double team throughout the course of her career,
an All YAC first seamer, has never won Player of
the Year in the YAC, interestingly enough, but she's been
on the first team three years in a row, and
(03:47):
she can get it done in a lot of different ways.
Speaker 1 (03:49):
And she's gonna have to be good against this Whipmen
team who.
Speaker 3 (03:52):
Not only has Grin Baker inside, but they got a
really sweety backboard as well. Natalie Lundberg as well as
Carly mar Our two really fun players to watch, number
two and number ten.
Speaker 1 (04:03):
They're gonna be a fun one to watch here today.
Speaker 3 (04:04):
So you take a look at the starting lineups, it'll
be the same as yesterday.
Speaker 1 (04:08):
Lundberd, Carlisle, Martin, Drango and.
Speaker 3 (04:10):
Baker and for the Blue Devils, Shaper, Geese and Starts
and Mutchkin Wag.
Speaker 1 (04:13):
Gonna be a fun one.
Speaker 3 (04:14):
We'll get to more on the starting lineups in just
a second. I did have a chance so to sit
down and talk with hann Iverson before the game. Here
is that conversation and Anna Everson now joins us as
we get set for a second round action here between
Stout and Whitman and coach, you appreciate you taking the
time with us as always, and last night, boy like
again complete game. We start talking a little bit about
it there after the game that you guys were clicking
(04:37):
on all cylinders and that felt like one of the
more complete games you've had all season. And you've talked
about a lot, right, you got to be playing your
best basketball in March, and that kind of felt And
I know there's no not perfect game, but it felt
about as close as you can get at this point
in the season.
Speaker 5 (04:51):
It was.
Speaker 6 (04:51):
I think it's nice too when you can just get
contributions from a bunch of different kids, And I think
that was part of the recipe for us. You know,
we don't play super deep, so when we do have
roal kids on the floor, we got to have them
be solid and be good firm looks for us, and
I think that was huge. I mean, Rosella Lilly had
huge minutes for us in the last two three games.
Alyssa Lodemeyer has been just phenomenal for us. I think
(05:12):
we've got you know, Mary Berg coming in here and
hitting shots and just gaining a little confidence. And when
we do that, it's it's again, it's another beast. I mean,
we just have a lot of offensive threats that make
it hard to guard and hard to stop for a
long period of time. And when you got other kids
stepping up and making plays that way is tough too.
And then on the defensive side of the floor, I
think we just had each other's backs on a ton
(05:32):
of different plays and guarded their five with our five
rather than just making it one on one situations, which
I think is going to be huge for us.
Speaker 5 (05:38):
We're rolling into tonight as well.
Speaker 3 (05:40):
It has that feeling when you get to the NCAA tournament,
at least from my perspective, that you know, I'm sure
from an officiating standpoint, they don't want to call as
many files, right, they want as much flow of the game,
and your team kind of takes advantage of that. We
saw whitmen take advantage of a little bit with superior
just hey, let's be aggressive and get to the ball.
Was that part of the message or did everybody kind
of know, like a for aggressive tonight, We're probably going
to get reward for that aggression on defense.
Speaker 6 (06:01):
Yeah, I think that's a great point. I think when
you get to the NCAA tournament, you wants the best
players to make the plays. And I appreciate that refs
have that a little bit of the mindset as well,
or have had. I mean, you got to see when
you get to the game. But that's one of the
perks of the Wahyak again. I mean, it's the most
physical Division three league there is. And I've talked to
a few other coaches just here on site that aren't
playing in this pot or anything, but it is, and
(06:22):
they've got the same things to say that the WAYAK
is just different, different consistently, you know, one through top
to bottom, and it just it prepares you for a
different level of play. And so sometimes, honestly for us,
it's hard to watch on film and know what you're
going to get out of a team. And I think
that was a little bit about what we did to
rip in last night and what women did Disupearior is
you speed them up, You make what they do look
(06:43):
uncomfortable and feel different to them because of the physicality
and a little bit of the pace of the game,
and so I think it'll be a good match for
us and women. I think both of us. I think
we're a little more physical team. They're a heavy set team,
and so our ability to kind of bust some of
their actions and switch our screens like we do and
just make things uncomfortable, disrupt a little flow of their
(07:03):
offense is going to be huge. And you know, they
got some big bodies down there too, so just being
able to withstand some of the some of the physicality
that's allowed and then make plays or they need to
be made.
Speaker 3 (07:12):
You know, some of it I'm sure was out of necessity,
knowing that you had a quick turnaround today, but you
got a lot of players into the game yesterday, and
you know, Reagan goes for thirty two points by think
in like twenty three, twenty four minutes something like that,
which is kind.
Speaker 1 (07:23):
Of a wild that that happened.
Speaker 3 (07:25):
Was that part of the plan or was some of
it necessity with Lexi going down, or was that in
the back of your mind, Hey, if we had a lead,
we can maybe get a few more players in the
game and get ready for tomorrow night as well.
Speaker 6 (07:35):
Yeah, I think you know, when you get to this point,
you're playing every minute like it's the most important thing
in front of you.
Speaker 5 (07:41):
So we got a plan.
Speaker 6 (07:42):
I mean, anytime we can rest our kids for a
game that's coming up, sure we will. But I mean
we didn't overlook ripping in any way, shape or form.
We were attacking them to win a basketball game and
put our best foot forward every step of the way.
It's awesome to be able to get kids into Blue
Dot games and be able to have that experience on there,
you know, on their list of memories things that they've done,
and I think that was really cool to give those
kids that chance. But for us, we were just trying
(08:04):
to win a basketball game. And you know, Reggs played
phenomenal and she's a tough guard, and then we also
had those other kids step up. And when when you
play solid basketball, we can put a ton of kids
on the floor.
Speaker 5 (08:14):
And so it's just it. It was cool too to
see that play out.
Speaker 6 (08:17):
And I think I started saying this to you yesterday,
but our great team, who does a ton of the
scout for us, has been just lights out, Like they
have been so locked and they prepare these kids who
the world sees on the floor for this battle, and
I think it's just they don't deserve or they don't
get all the pats on the back that they deserve.
Speaker 5 (08:34):
And I think that's a big piece of it.
Speaker 6 (08:36):
So for some of them to get out here tonight
or last night was really really a special moment.
Speaker 5 (08:40):
I think you saw that. By the way, not only our.
Speaker 6 (08:42):
Bench celebrated at the end of the game, but our
entire arena, like the three that at least all hit.
Speaker 5 (08:47):
I mean, I got chills just thinking about it.
Speaker 6 (08:49):
That was like maybe my favorite play of the game,
and it didn't really mean anything to anybody, but it
meant everything to everybody. And I think those are really
cool ways to see what your program can do to
a community. And when you see things like that happen,
it's just really special and things that you know not
only a liase is gonna remember. But that was what
we talked about at breakfast. It's like, those are cool
moments to share together. And one of the perks of
being here with our fans and having them in the
(09:11):
building to share with all.
Speaker 3 (09:13):
Right, real quickly, let's talk a little bit about whomen
krim Baker, two time All American she's really good inside
a lot of quick guards as well. What do you
plan to have to do to shut down this really
good squad out of whitmen.
Speaker 6 (09:24):
Yeah, we've got to handle them in transition. First, we
got to slow them down. And if you can handle
them in transition, they're heavy set team. We switch a
ton of things, and so I think that can make
a little bit of what they do uncomfortable. And we're
going to try to be able to control that paint.
I mean, they had fifty seven points in the paint
last night, so we got to hold down the paint
a little bit with everybody and then be able to
guard our own win our own matchup. I think I
(09:46):
think we're a good matchup with them. I mean we're undersize.
That's the story of us with everybody, So we don't
mind that that's not really a part of it. That
doesn't go on our excuse list because it just is
what it is. But we're physical. We're looking to use
our physicality, We're looking to use our system and fall
back on what we do and how we do it.
Speaker 5 (10:02):
And with a quick turnaround.
Speaker 6 (10:03):
Like this, I actually think this matchup's nice for us
because they got sixty some sets like, we're not walking
through all those. We're doing what we do and falling
back on our system and trusting the preparation that we've
had for not only just this last day, but our
entire season.
Speaker 3 (10:17):
So in a good place, are looking forward to it,
appreciating the time is always in good luck tonight, Thanks Pete,
Santa I Evererson. We'll have more when we come back.
Speaker 1 (10:32):
Much gonna slow things down, Hands off the bergs. She's
up in for three.
Speaker 3 (10:36):
Slash look bess Man the by no they must thank
fifty two forty four Blue Devil. This is the Division
three women's basketball n see A tournament second round coverage
right here on News Talk WM E g He sit
up top to Wagner.
Speaker 1 (10:51):
Wagner for the record sash, Lexie Wagner. Now is he
in the record book today?
Speaker 3 (10:58):
It's the second round as a w stout Blue Devils
get set to take on the Whitman College Blues.
Speaker 1 (11:04):
Much Sorenson, Sorenson to.
Speaker 2 (11:07):
The hoop ful hell Regan Sorenson.
Speaker 3 (11:11):
That is why you give the ball to the All
American Now live from Johnson Field House right here in Menominee, Wisconsin.
Here's Pete Knutson, Hey, welcome you back in here to
Johnson Field Housis. We're just past the seven o'clock hour
and getting excited for basketball here between Stout and Whitman. Tonight,
you heard from coach Hanna Iverson and checked a little
(11:31):
bit off air with the head coach of Michelle Farrenz
yesterday about her team and one of the big things
she emphasized, just like Hannah Iverson emphasizes, you've got five
senior starters on both of these teams.
Speaker 1 (11:43):
And the sad part is at one of these teams
this season, and one of these team.
Speaker 3 (11:47):
Is going to have a lot of careers in today
in terms of their college basketball career, because there's a
lot of players who contributed a lot to both of
these schools who are going to have their dreams dashed
today and it's going to be tough for them, but
it's gonna be a hect of a celebration for the
team that does win here this evening, and so it
should be a lot of fun. Let's take a look
at those starting lineups here as we get set for basketball.
(12:10):
As we get a little chapelarone in the background, which
I'm not gonna have any problems with here. As we go,
there's a look at the UW South starting lineup. Sam Shafer,
senior from DeForest at five foot nine, starts alongside a
man the Geesant, the senior from New Bragg, Minnesota, scored
as well at five eleven. Reagan Sorenson is the All
America the senior from Unity and of Much the senior
from Apple Valley, Minnesota, and Lexi Wagner, who did rol
(12:32):
mor ancer last night, will start tonight for the Blue Devils.
The grad student from Gaylesville g e t and the
transfer f for Youngstown State in NCAA Division One basketball
to be or the starting lineup rather for Whitman looks
as follows.
Speaker 1 (12:47):
It will be the same starting lineup.
Speaker 3 (12:48):
They had last night, and only Lundberg, the senior from
Grass Valley, California, at five foot one, starts might be
the fastest player on the court here tonight. Christian and
Carlisle will also start. She's a senior from Chico, California.
Carly Martin, senior Hello Alto, California, starts at a five
to six guard and then the two inside Lendsay Drango
at six foot one, the senior from Lake Oswego, Oregon,
and then Corinne Baker is senior from WILKNDA, Washington, six
(13:12):
foot and was a third team All American last year,
a fifteen All American the year before, and the Northwest
Conference Player of the Year the last three years, including
this year running.
Speaker 1 (13:23):
And you see her numbers there as well.
Speaker 3 (13:26):
Yesterday twenty five points and twelve rebounds. She is one
of the best field goal shooting percentage numbers in the country.
Comes into the tournament second in the NCAA in field
goal shooting percentage. Also with that double got her tenth
double double of this season yesterday against Superior. So those
are the starting lineups again. Michelle Frenz is the head
(13:46):
coach of Whipman in her twenty fourth season, four thirty
five and one ninety.
Speaker 1 (13:51):
In her time at the Helm of the Blues.
Speaker 3 (13:54):
Hannah I ever seen in her seventh season a one
oh nine and sixty one record for her coming in
to this game tonight should be a good one between
these two teams. Again, fifth in the NPI for Whitman
and twenty third in the NPI for the Blue Doubles,
and again there is that disparity there, however, George Fox
(14:14):
who was a team that gave Whitman some trouble all
the way down at seventy eight in the NPI, and
they played them tough every time they played them this season.
And so you know, kind of talking with some both
some of the media members who were here and said, A,
Whitman's really good.
Speaker 1 (14:27):
Are they the favorite? Probably? But can they be gotten?
Can they? Can they beat beat?
Speaker 3 (14:32):
And I think the consensus answer is by the Stout team,
absolutely they can be beat as well.
Speaker 1 (14:38):
Doesn't mean it's gonna happen, but it is going to
be a fun one.
Speaker 3 (14:40):
And again, I don't think it's by far any sort
of stretch of the imagination that Stout could potentially win
this game, even though it would be an upset in that.
Speaker 1 (14:49):
Situation where it should be good.
Speaker 3 (14:51):
We are going to set it over to Rob Miller
for the national anthem and all the announcements here as well.
After we get the starting lineups, we'll get you the
shoals and gets everything else also as we get set
and ready to go.
Speaker 1 (15:04):
So it should be a fun one.
Speaker 3 (15:05):
Looking forward to it and appreciate it from all those
who make it happen here on the NCAA Sports Network,
Ben does a great job, and we appreciate all of
his work and all of the video crew making it
happen here. I said, you can watch it home to
see who punches their ticket to the Sweet sixteen. This evening,
all right, here's Rob Miller with the announcement to playing
in the natchelant in the national anthem here from Johnson
(17:12):
Field House. Happy to have you along with us once
again here on the wayak a repartment on the NCAA
Sports Network as we get set for basketball here as well,
we will see the starting lineups introduced and a good
student section on hand air for the Blue Devils, of course,
whoitmen traveling all the way from Washington, but they got
a lot of appearance and a lot of fans who
made the trip here to Menominee for this game. And
(17:35):
again they're the team that kind of felt like, hey,
we shouldn't be able to host in the opening round
even though we're in Washington and everybody would have to
fly to get to us. They're a little bit frustrated
about that, I'm sure in terms of a fan perspective,
and so they want to as.
Speaker 1 (17:47):
Well as a team perspective. They want to kind of
take it out.
Speaker 3 (17:49):
They want to take out that frustration tonight and prove
that they are one of the top teams in the nations. Again,
the Blue Devils will be introduced. This is a rarity
that you will see tonight. The Blue Devils will be
introduced first, and they are wearing the Road Blue uniforms
since Whitman is the higher rated, higher seated team, so
they're gonna be in the home Whites and so will
(18:10):
be in the Road Blue uniform tonight. Even though Stout
of course has their name on the scoreboard here, so
they will keep that. That's a column basically up on
the scoreboard as well. A Man of Easton is introduced
here for the Mew Devils. Amanda Geston, Anna Mutch and
Reagan Sorensen each in the top six all time scoring
(18:32):
in Blue Levil of Mystery, Sorenson second, much fifth and
Amanda Geeson sixth, and a Man of Easton with a
you know, a good night tonight and a seuth continuing
as a chance of moving to the.
Speaker 1 (18:44):
Top ten all time and rebounding as well.
Speaker 2 (18:46):
By the time this tournament is over.
Speaker 3 (18:49):
Sorenson gets announced here as well, and off we go
here shortly between Stouton and.
Speaker 1 (18:56):
With A gonna be a lot of fun.
Speaker 3 (18:58):
We're happy to have you along with us here on
the nc double A Sports Network, and we'll give you
scores as well.
Speaker 1 (19:05):
Other teams have already punched their ticket to the NCA
Sweet sixteen. Ohio Wesley and the.
Speaker 3 (19:13):
A team that should have won there against Washington and
Jefferson went seventy eight to sixty five over on the
bottom of left quadrant area there as well.
Speaker 1 (19:21):
They're gonna take on either Wabas or Washington.
Speaker 3 (19:24):
The league against Branton is almost in punch their ticket
in this quadrant off the bracket.
Speaker 1 (19:30):
Whitewater and Lacrosse have just gotten underway.
Speaker 3 (19:33):
Whitewater's got a ten to six early lead and about
two minutes left in the first quarter of that game,
so a lot to keep our eye on. We will
get this bracket all sorted out. Probably by the time
our game is done. We'll have a pretty good idea
of who all the other Sweet sixteen teams are, so
we're ready to go. The teams have been introduced. Your
(19:56):
officials for tonight's in Carolyn Gertzen is the referee. Gilbertson
and Keith Leherman are the two umpire. Steven Kent is
the alternate official. Scott cober Seen is the evaluator here
at Johnson field House. Tonight, student section per Stout is
almost full on one section up there. They did another
white out tonight, I am told, and they got a
(20:19):
good chunk of the football team that's there and hanging out.
I think anytime you get Patrick Corkoran, who is one
of the leading receivers in the WYAC this season, in
that student section you usually have a pretty good cheering
section there as well. But women will bring the juice
as well. They got a lot of signs and you
know one that says Walla Walla.
Speaker 1 (20:37):
Wisconsin on it.
Speaker 2 (20:39):
It's game toping them.
Speaker 3 (20:41):
Here's Anna Mutch getting a little preview here as well.
It's become our little tradition to get on the mic.
So there you have it, and off we go. All right,
Reagan Sorenson to take the tip for Sout. It'll be
Baker for Whitman again. Whitmen in the white jerseys, Stout
in the blue jersey. A little different than what you're
used to seeing if you're used to watching games here
(21:03):
at Johnson Fieldhouse.
Speaker 1 (21:04):
Whitman will win it.
Speaker 3 (21:05):
They moved left to right as you watch them at
home here on the NCAA Sports Network, Carlisle up top
and Rango now left side of Martin. A lot of
speed on this team. They make quick cuts, a lot
of sets. Scouts gott to defend well here tonight. If
they want a chance, Drango on the high right side,
great catch inside for Baker, pass the upstretched arms of
Lexi Wagner who could not make the block, and quickly
(21:27):
it's a two zip.
Speaker 1 (21:28):
Lead here for Whitman.
Speaker 3 (21:30):
Now women put a little bit of pressure on Superior
and that kind of propelled them onto a big first half.
So there's a defense champ from them. Fans who've come
in Reagan Soornson trying to get past Martin and can't.
I ought there might be a foul called.
Speaker 1 (21:42):
Off the ball. They'll try to get it to her
inside and.
Speaker 3 (21:44):
Out of bounds and pretty physical inside and Charlie Martin
was all over.
Speaker 1 (21:50):
The officials are gonna let that go.
Speaker 3 (21:51):
And that's when where I think Reagan Sowornson just gotta
be a little bit stronger in there to get into
a better position. They throw it away, it's a turnover
to Whitman and off we go here as Whitmen leads
to use it. I'm on the high right and drive
coming in. Wagner flashes in on the help from Carlisle.
They go out to Martin bir three. It's ride open
and it is hit and it's five to note big
Whipmen with the lead nine minutes love to go first
quarter just one minute in and two quick buckets here
(22:14):
for the Blues is Sorenson brings it in the fore
court Wagner a long three.
Speaker 2 (22:18):
She got it on on the right wing for Wagner
five to three.
Speaker 3 (22:22):
Women leaves that Stout's game in't transition Carlisle. Carlisle guarded
by Wagner out in the high right wing. They move
it up top here to Lumber. Lumper moves right, hands
it out to Carlisle. She'll pop a three. That's too
strong and it's Bakery, tips it right in the hands
of Lumberg, loses it to Drago, blocked in there by.
Wagner falls in the hands of Lumberg. Out to Martin
to three. On the way eat it out rebound Geese
(22:43):
Geson boxes out nicely inside Geeson Ford here to Wagon.
Wagner transitions high right side looking in toward much instead
goes up top to geese left wing. The Sorenson five
to three Whitmen early on. Now it's a Sorenson three.
Speaker 1 (22:57):
Why not?
Speaker 3 (22:58):
That's short and it wasn't really a rhythm. She has
not taken a ton of threes this season. Is Reagan Sorenson,
and she misses that one. Five to three Whitman with
the lead Baker the high low. They got her sealed
off on Geeson. Sorenson was laid on the helm, easy
lay up for Bakers seven to three women leads.
Speaker 1 (23:16):
Again.
Speaker 3 (23:16):
Stout is going to be outsized tonight. There's no doubt
about that. You heard that from coach iverson the fact.
She knows that's going to be the case. Sorenson driving
in little hesitation, wild shot, not good. Gotta get up
and get out of there, as Lumberg has the rebound
and a chance to transition.
Speaker 1 (23:30):
The other way off on the right wing to Carlisle.
Speaker 3 (23:32):
She wants them through. That's way too strong. Sorenson with
the rebound and Drango gets called for a con. I
want an immediate reaction there from Drango as well. Sat
out a little bit for Whitman yesterday whenever there being
a foul called on him.
Speaker 1 (23:45):
There was usually a quick reaction to the officials.
Speaker 3 (23:49):
Sorens of the good box out there, and she got
reached in on by Drango on that rebound, and so
she gets called for her first foul. Seven to three
women seven thirty six to go. Here in the first quarter,
Copman will play ani man defense. Here is Sorenson brings
it in the front court, Shafer on the right wing,
Shaper looking in up and there she'll go to Geeson
left wing.
Speaker 1 (24:09):
Three on the way that is short Anda much with
the rebound. She puts it up.
Speaker 3 (24:13):
No good gets her own rebound again and a pound
call here on Whitman think.
Speaker 2 (24:17):
They're gonna get Martin.
Speaker 3 (24:19):
Yep, it is on Martin Darling. Martin needs to call
out of bound to stout. So it's the physicality on
the rebounds that we've seen so far. Yeah, Martin with
a clear reach in there. Shafer inbounds from the baseline
in the front court. Here they get it into Sorens
and Sorenson got pushed by Baker. Now at the left block,
goes out to Geeson, wants to return the pass and
(24:39):
said goes out to much on the left wing. Thirteen
to shoot. Here's Shaper moving around to Geeson on the
right wing. Geeson, look it in. She'll go up top
the shaper. Shaper steps into a three on the way.
That's short.
Speaker 1 (24:49):
Much with the rebound. Put back, Yes, up in the air,
put back for mana Much. It's seven to five.
Speaker 3 (24:55):
Whitmen Lunburg in the front court here for the Blues.
She moves the left wing on the high side. Sorens
and guards and move it around right out to Baker.
Baker catching it that far away, about eighteen feet away.
That's where you want her to be touching the ball.
Here's Lumberg now at the top on in Carlisle. They
try to post up Baker inside and instead they skipping
across the drango inside the Baker. Deeson's in front of
(25:15):
her top turnaround, shot back the remno, and Much hits
the rebounds. Seven to five. Women leads bad pass. It's
deflected to be grabbed by Sorenson. Now Much at the
top of the key. Much wants to drive on Martin.
Speaker 2 (25:26):
Here she goes poked.
Speaker 1 (25:27):
Away, tries to get it back and it's out of bounds.
Where's it a foul? I think we got a foul?
Call here and it is on Martin.
Speaker 2 (25:35):
That is your second foul.
Speaker 3 (25:37):
Big Paul in this game, absolutely massive pall in this game.
As Carle, Martin is gonna have to head to the
bench with two fouls and Michelle Farentz cannot believe it.
Three fouls already on Whipman is We'll see some substitutions
here for Stout. You've got Mary Berg and Willie in
and you have let's see Amanda Geese and Lexi Wagner out.
(26:01):
The inbounds, goes to Willy in the short corner on
the left side, picks up the dribble. Gotta get it
out of there too much on the left wing, enters
it into Sorenson. There's a health defense, loses the ball,
gets it back, goes out to Shaper Shape her hands
off the Berg steps into a three that's off the front.
Rim No rolls into the corner to Carlisle. She's got
it for Whitman. Seven to five. Whitman leads six o
eight to go. First quarter. Lumber Hi right to Carlile.
(26:22):
Carlile looks into the post toward Baker. It's not there.
Martin out and so out. With Martin still in with
two fouls while I'm shocked at that. Here's Martin with
a basketball on the left wing. Martin in toward Baker,
double team in their rips.
Speaker 2 (26:33):
So I all look like he traveled. No call and
put it up. Wooh boy.
Speaker 3 (26:38):
Nine to five here in favor of Whitman. Nice move
inside from her and she gets it through Mary Berg
on the high left. Here for stout nine to five.
Whipmen Zella Willy on the right wing, skipping across the
Sorenson on the left side in the animus in the post.
Much a little bit confused there with Sorenson with what
they wanted to do. Now they move it to Willy
on the right wing much at the top of the key,
(26:58):
looking for Sorenson and Berg in the corner. Berg left
side dribbles it out, goes in towards Sorenson through it
right into the hands of Baker, and that is a
senior step in front of the pass from the freshman,
and that is a big turnover Martin.
Speaker 1 (27:09):
Now the other way in the corner, Martin.
Speaker 3 (27:10):
Steps into three that was blocked by Shaper. Shaper got
a piece of it. It's grabbed by Shaper as well.
Shaper goes and gets it's a little help here. She'll
get it to Willie. Willie will bring it forward here
for Stout nine to five Whitmen out on the left wing.
Willie skips it across in the right corner to Monch.
She'll step into it.
Speaker 2 (27:27):
Three, got it.
Speaker 3 (27:30):
Anamas Rick Green nine to eight Whitman Leans five or
four fifty excuse me left to play here in the
first quarter. The Doubles faithful, making a lot of noise,
a suit a section on their feet, trying to make
it as hard as possible here on Whitman. Here's Baker
at the free throw lining and that is where you
want her to have the ball tipped away on I
get a foul on Mud she hacked at it. I
(27:53):
think she got bald. It looked like she probably got
some arm as well. Let's look at the replay.
Speaker 1 (27:58):
I hear she was from behind and sure enough, Yeah,
that's a lot of harm there and a foul on
Anna Much.
Speaker 3 (28:02):
Nine to eight, Whitman with the lead. We take a
media timeout. Four thirty six left to play first order,
and you're watching right here on the end Sea doublea
sports number.
Speaker 7 (28:13):

Speaker 1 (29:15):
Hey, welcome back in here to Johnson Field.
Speaker 3 (29:17):
How's nine to eight the lead for Whitman at the
first media time out of the first quarter.
Speaker 1 (29:21):
A good start for both teams.
Speaker 3 (29:22):
Three of nine shooting for ew Stout four of ten
shooting or Whitman. Whitmen is led by Krin Baker with
six points already. Anna Mutch has five per Stout two levels,
two of six from beyond the arc, and Whipman is
one of five from beyond the arc as well. Stout
Out rebounding Whitman seven to five points, and the paints
(29:43):
already in favor of Whitman six to two. As you
might imagine, Whitmen will get it into Baker, Baker off
the window, that'll go. She's got the hype differentia. It's
that long wingspan those over top of Ason on that
inbounds play. It's eleven to eight and a quick bucket
there for the Blues. Reagan Sorenson in the lane. Help
go to the Wagner. Wagner is in there now with
Alyssa Lodermyer at the top of the key. Moves it
over to Amanda Geeson Geson floating in into the lane.
(30:06):
She goes up with the left hand. No, now, she'll
go under with the right hand. Nice move.
Speaker 1 (30:09):
It rolls off, however, and Baker grabs a rebound.
Speaker 3 (30:12):
Well, she is just that much taller They've got her
listed a six foot She's way closer to six too.
It seems like here's a shot up. Not gonna go
from Andrade, Brienna Andreda.
Speaker 1 (30:21):
The end of the game. Here the sophomore from the
beble Washington for a Whipman Sorenson on the right wing.
Speaker 3 (30:27):
After that miss eleven to eight, Blue Devils trail the
Whitman blues here in the second round of the NCAA Tournament,
winner moves on to the sweet sixteen and Amanda Geeson
from the left wing. She's just gonna take a three
that is off the mark, not in rhythm. Blue Devils
need to catch in rhythm. They're not a real good
pull up three point shooting team outside Alexi Wagner. Everybody
else more of a rhythm shooter. Carlile on the right wing,
(30:50):
not a Lumberg on the corner. Lumberg loses a basketball
for a moment, there's a switch out there. At least
Wagner defends her. I'm not sure that's exactly what Stout
wants in that situation. He's skipping as in the corner
on Drade inside the baker almost as steel for Keison.
She was just then hit I mean a split second late,
trying to get that deflection, and Baker knocks in and
off the window. Thirteen to eight, and they're gonna rely
(31:11):
heavily as you can tell on Krin Baker here tonight,
thirteen to eight. Whitman leads three oh seven to go
first quarter, Mary Berg on the right wing. Now for
Geeson on the right side as well. Again, Baker's gonna
lay off. She can shoot that three if she wants,
but again the rhythm three has kind of been what
her game is is. She'll drive in, get it out
to Sorenson in the corner. Stot's gonna have to hit
some perimeter shots. It feels like Sorenson goes in. That's
(31:33):
a foul on Andrade. You know, she got a little
too below or below a vertical if you will, a
little more horizontal in that defense as you can tell,
I mean, initially she's got good position there, but then
grabbing at Sorensen there with her arms, and that's always
going to be a foul calls. It's a thirteen to
(31:53):
eight lead here for Whitman and Stout at the line
with Reagan Sorensen at Sorenson's first point as she hits
the free throw yesterday thirty two points for the Senior
All American.
Speaker 1 (32:08):
Came into this.
Speaker 3 (32:10):
Postseason shooting just under seventy six percent from the free
throw line. She hits them both thirteen to ten Whipmen
with two forty eight to go here in the first quarter.
As long as Stell could figure out an answer for Baker,
you feel pretty good about it.
Speaker 1 (32:23):
But right now Baker has played really well. Also into
the game.
Speaker 3 (32:25):
Here Holly Organ for Whipman as well, and Rodda on
the laft wing trying to drive on Lodermeyer.
Speaker 1 (32:29):
Loder Meyer bumps her there.
Speaker 3 (32:32):
Bludubbles might have wanted to travel by Androddie offre she
went in from the wing, but once she got in there,
that was a pretty clear foul on loder Myer's here
getting out of position as she moved too far to
her right, and that's as easy a call you're gonna get,
So if you're the officials, it'll be inbounded by Morgan
on the baseline on the front court here with twenty
to shoot out to Lumberg on the sideline guarded by
(32:54):
Lexi Wagner. Lumberg's not really looking to score here, then
she is pouled again by loder Meyer. Came into the
wrong spot there a little late, and she was trying
to split the defense with Lumberg, and she used her.
Speaker 1 (33:07):
Speed to just kind of split the defense and get
the contact on Lodermeyer. That's her second.
Speaker 3 (33:14):
Now they're going to keep Loadermyer in because Lodermeyer, even
if she picks up a third, probably won't play a
lot more on the half anyway. Lumberg on the high right,
trying to drive in toward the hoop, kicks it in
the corner back out on the left wind in Carlisle.
Speaker 2 (33:25):
But I threw it away.
Speaker 3 (33:26):
No, it's back in the corner to Lumberg into Baker.
Baker is fouled. Stout wanted to travel here. It's gonna
be rosella Willie for the foul. A couple of things there.
I mean, stop's arguing for a travel. You probably could
argue too that there was a foul before the shot.
Speaker 1 (33:41):
You see this is the initial contact.
Speaker 3 (33:42):
Then she recollects and goes up, so you probably have
an argument to say it's a non shooting foul as well.
That'll be at the line here for Baker thirteen to
ten Equipment and now you've got to foul on Willie.
And so one of the things that Scout's gonna have
to do is figure out how to be physical inside
and stop Baker without fouling. And right now, Lodermeyer, I'm
really racking up a couple of fowls at this part.
(34:04):
Baker at the line, and the free throw is gonna
rattle in. Baker good free throw numbers, they're not they
don't jump off the sheets. Sixty eight percent coming in
to the tournament, twenty seventh in the NCAA in points
per game, nineteen point three game coming in, and she
hits the second free throw as well.
Speaker 1 (34:25):
Fifteen to ten. Whopmen.
Speaker 3 (34:27):
We'll see our first look at Avery Meal here for
Whipmen into the game. So you've got Neil Martin Andrade,
Baker and Lunker the five on the floor for Whipmen, Sorensen, Schaeffer, Geese,
much M. Wagner the starters out there for Stout two
seven ago in the first quarter, Wagoner a step back
two from near the free throw line.
Speaker 1 (34:46):
A nice move for her.
Speaker 3 (34:47):
She does have that ankle a little brace on it
there after rolling that right ankle last night. But she
does not seem to at least it doesn't seem to
be affecting her shot, and she knocks that one in
fifteen to twelve here in favor of witness. Baker catches
in the right short corner, but she's a good fifteen
feet away from the bucket. Hand off to Neil, a
little screen and roll and we'll see if they go
to Baker. Now she's trying to set up for a
(35:07):
high low. She catches ooh, NIC's the flection there by Wagner.
She popped through it, though, kept with it, got it
off the window. Seventeen to twelve Whitman. That is now
fourteen of the seventeen points for Whitman that are Bakers.
Giese drawling right on the left, her alone, and she's
got the layup almost the foul from Andrade as well.
Speaker 1 (35:27):
I'm not sure what she was trying to do there.
Speaker 2 (35:29):
That was an easy layup.
Speaker 1 (35:30):
Just let her go.
Speaker 3 (35:31):
But seventeen to fourteen now Whitman with the lead is
a lost track of a man the geesean on a
bunch of switches inside Andrade trying to go to Baker.
Speaker 1 (35:39):
Here instead, she'll move it up top to Neil.
Speaker 3 (35:41):
Neil looking right now, moves it left to Morgan inside
the catch from Andrade going up with.
Speaker 1 (35:46):
The right hand past Wagner, and she scores.
Speaker 3 (35:49):
At nineteen fourteen Whitman under a minute left to play
here in quarter one, Wagner brings it across the timeline
for Stout and move it to Reagan Sorenson.
Speaker 1 (35:58):
Wagner, floating to the corner, sores the.
Speaker 3 (36:00):
Spin, move on drying with the heck of a block inside,
and Whipman's got it back. With forty four seconds remaining
in the first quarter, lumberd spins at the top of
the key, soarings and picks her up defensively paul out
first screen. Baker's gonna come out and set at Lundberg
with a kick in the corner Androde for two that's
too strong and soarings some skis on the board. Lumber
then reaches in on her Twenty eight seconds remain. The
(36:22):
shot clock in game block are almost identical. They're gonna
keep the shot clock on, though, so Stout can hold
for the final shot in all likelihood less than a
second differential. Here, it's a shaper high Wine and left
nineteen fourteen Whipman, because there's a chance for defense from
the Whitman fateful who made the drip from Washington.
Speaker 1 (36:44):
Here's Anna Mutch four seconds, three seconds to.
Speaker 2 (36:46):
The hoop with the scoobus.
Speaker 3 (36:47):
He missed the money and it will remain nineteen to
fourteen at the end of one good quarter, Whipman showed
us what they're made of. If Stout can figure out
a way to stop Corin Baker, we like their chances,
But right now it's a Grin Baker show. At fourteen points,
you're the first quarter. Welcome back right after this. You're
on the NCAA Sports Network.

Speaker 3 (38:14):
End of the first quarter in women's basketball in the
second round of the NCAA Tournament. That's Whitman nineteen, Stout fourteen.
Stout shot five of fifteen from the field in that
first quarter. Whipman eight of sixteen, and six of the
eight made field goals for Careenmaker inside, she had fourteen
points in that first quarter and two rebounds. Five rebounds
for little Natalie Lundberg at just five foot one, she
(38:36):
just puts herself in the right position on the court.
It seems like all the time she is in the
right spot, right time, and she's got a quick five
rebounds as well. Blue Devils turn it over twice, Whitman
zero times. Blue Levels could use a couple of turnovers there.
Points in the paint as we expect her in favor
of Whitman.
Speaker 1 (38:52):
Fourteen to four. Blue Devils missed.
Speaker 3 (38:54):
A lay up there right at the end of the
quarter that would have made it a one possession game.
Formana much Eesa looks inside.
Speaker 2 (39:00):
What a nice set the Reagan Sorenson's pole by Baker.
Speaker 3 (39:04):
If a man one mache knocks and grow nineteen sixteen
women in a free throw coming for Reagan sorens So
Baker picks up her first foul, and maybe that's the
way to make it a little bit easier on the
defensive end, to have her in a little bit of
foul trouble. Sorenson's free throw is gonna rattle in nineteen seventeen.
(39:27):
Whitmen gonna start for the Blue doubles here in quarter two.
We expect this one to be tied. I know Whitman
is the favorite, but again stout playing and I think
arguably the best conference in Division three in the WIAC
Expect a good game from them. Andrede goes inside, Drango
Catches goes up block but a pole. They're either gonna
(39:47):
get Sorenson or they're gonna get Wagner. I hope it's
on Wagner for stout shake. But they're gonna give that
to Sorenson, and that's well, you saw the replay, folks.
We'll let you judge that one for yourself. It's on
Sorrens only her first. I thought Sorenson had a foul earlier,
but the case just her first. Trango's free throw is good.
(40:11):
Drinker comes in a sixty two percent free throw shooter.
Speaker 1 (40:13):
This squad.
Speaker 3 (40:16):
Maybe the one kind of notch against him is their
free throw shooting sixty eight percent on the air, which
was eighth in the conference, in the Northwest Conference and
Twitter and tenth in the nation coming into the tournament
twenty one seventeen. As they make him both, however, Shaper
back up top to Geeson Geeson inside to Sorenson. Sorenson
had it poked away, stays with it, holds out of
(40:38):
the ball right side of the lane. That's to get
it out of there to shapeer and she will we
loving to shoot now Geeson Geeson looking in and she'll
drive in on Baker loses the ball just fell over.
That of all the contact that happened on that possession,
that was the last thing to call a foul on.
But I think Sorenson before that earlier in their possession,
a lot of reaching in and that's what the stout
(40:58):
bench is arguing for. We're here and again I think
we talk about in the pre again, if fishes want
to let things go, they want to, you know, let
the players decide it. But we'll see how much they
want to call some of that stuff inside is here
is Neil with it. Neil Offer Lundberg on the left
wing twenty one to seventeen. Whitman leads, Lumberg, hesitates, goes
to Neil ball fake from three drives to the short corner,
(41:19):
back out to Lumberg on the wing. Inside the Baker
she catches blocked by Wagner, but all call call foul
called on Wagner. She got ball up top. It must
have got some arm. On the follow three Wagger called
for her first file. Wells the lonermar are the only
player two little boy, that's another one on the replay.
That is a tough one to watch back. That is
(41:40):
for sure, good job by our replay crew to get
a good look at that. So that free throw is
good from Baker. Baker continues to add to the total
fifteen points for her tonight, twenty two seventeen Whitman eight
forty three to go second quarter. One more free throw
from Baker and she's good on it. Six of six
(42:02):
at the line here to start, four whitmen and six
point ly. That's the difference right now, are those free throws.
Shaefer gets a screen from Sorenson, moves to the right side,
looks to post her up and set out to Geeson.
Speaker 1 (42:16):
She'll step into it.
Speaker 3 (42:16):
Three good Amanda Geeson for three and twenty percent three
point shooter this season, and.
Speaker 1 (42:23):
She knocks it through. It's twenty three to twenty.
Speaker 3 (42:25):
You're in favor of women, she said, Geeseon on her
career a little bit better than that, twenty six point
five percent. That's a tough shot for Morgan. On a turnaround,
Sorenson gets the rebound stout, gonna try to push that much.
Was kind of streaking down court and Regan Sorenson didn't
see her. Shafer moves it up top Deeson ball, fake
crosses over on Baker trying for the up and under
(42:45):
no good and Baker with good defense. The little help
there that she got. I think it was Neil who
stepped in just kind of threw off that move from Geeson.
I think I not for that. She likely has a
layup around Baker. Now Neil with it off on the
right for Lumber. Whitman leads Morgan on the left wing
pressure throwing you throw it away. Stop basketball. Oh no,
(43:06):
they're giving it to women. Oh no, that can't be
the case. That was not deflected. It was thrown out
of bounds. There was nobody there. Carolyn Jerkson was right
in front of it. As we take a look at
the replay and it is stop basketball. I mean, that's
the right ball, witmen fans hate it, and you can
(43:27):
see them just on.
Speaker 1 (43:28):
The far left the ear screen. But official's got it right.
Speaker 3 (43:33):
I think there's an initial kind of reaching toward the ball,
but the passes fou clearly thrown away. Sam Shaffer receives
here in the back court. Lumber gonna give her some
pressure across the timeline, gets it up to Rosella. Willie
Shafer was trying to run past Lundberg have fun doing that.
Sorenson trying to fight through inside. They go out to
Shaper and a whistle away. They got a three second
violation on Sorenson. She was trying to fight through. I'm
(43:58):
not sure what happened there? To be honest with you,
She's trying to fight through a bunch of contact. She
got hung up and without the foul call in three
second call. I suppose it's the next thing to call,
if not nothing. But now Baker caught it at the
right elbow. She puts it on the deck, drives in
on Willie, hangs and fires crawls over the rim. Twenty
five twenty women scores. It is all Baker right now.
(44:20):
I mean outside of Baker, there's not a whole lot
of other offense right now for Woitmen, and not a
lot of that is because they haven't had to need
that other offense. As we get a quick foul call
on the other side on Drango, I believe that is
her second. Mary Berg is going to check in here
for Alexi Wagner. Androde also going to come in for
(44:41):
Drango as she picked up her second. So Martin and
Drango both with two. Martin not in the game right
now here for Whitman. As the inbounds goes to Reagan's
Sorens Sorenson out to Willy. She wants a three from
the left wing that is short, good box out inside
and a good job by Andrade to tip that going
to Lumberg. Lundberg across the timeline with Whipman up to
(45:02):
five hand off here in transition to Carlile on the
right wing. Carlile crossing over, spinning much, stays in front
of her. Lumberg, now out between the circles guarded by
mary Berg, gets a screen, goes to the hoop, takes
a bump before the shot.
Speaker 1 (45:14):
They'll say it'll be out of bounds to Whitman.
Speaker 3 (45:18):
Good screens set up there by Baker, and you see
Willie switching off was a little late there. Lumberg tried
to throw it up to get a shooting foul call,
but they waved it off right away. Twenty five twenty
Whitman leads six forty five to go here in the
second It was also the second foul called on Rosella
Willie as well. Lumberg catches here in the corner swords
(45:40):
and defends right all up in her business. Here on
the left wing, Lumberg kicks it up out to Carlisle.
Carlin wanted to shoot that, but just doesn't have the space.
Without a much defending her, Carlile spins at the three
throw line passes it in there and it's throwing away.
I think Mary Berg got her hand on it alas, Yeah,
that is the case. It'll stay with Whitman. But seven
to shoot, six thirty two left to play here in
the second quarter. Yeah, there's Mary Burton's paw deflecting that
(46:04):
one out of bounds on the baseline. Whipmen inbounds. They
want to just go high low with Baker, but stoutest
this gumming everything up and they're on draw day. He
had to wait till it got into the back court,
so there wasn't a back court violation. Kneel down with
it with four. With three, they go left side Carlisle,
she moves left, gets.
Speaker 2 (46:19):
It off and it is God, what a shot.
Speaker 3 (46:23):
Carlisle hit the three from the left wing as the
shot block buzzer expired. You wanted to foul as well,
But nonetheless, that is a heck of a bucket. Mark
that one down at twenty twenty five twenty when she
hit the three at the end of the shock blocks,
that's a bad pass, bad pass by Shape or Baker.
With the interception, Willie tries for the scoop there. They
(46:45):
wanted to travel in and get it and she'll score it,
and it's just like that, a ten point leader whipping
thirty to twenty five fifty five to go second quarter.
That's a tough sequence for the Blue Devils. Time out
taking fineanda I or some that time out will send
us to immediate time out, as Quack finally months ago.
Here in a second, it's been a big run from
Whitman as they are on a seven oh run in
(47:07):
the last two minutes and thirty seven seconds with Grin
Baker making eight out of nine.
Speaker 1 (47:12):
Field goals to start this game. We'll come back right
after this here on the NCAA.
Speaker 10 (47:16):

Speaker 2 (48:16):
Today.
Speaker 1 (48:22):
Well back in here to.
Speaker 3 (48:23):
Johnson Fieldhouse, thirty to twenty in favor of Whitman here.
Speaker 1 (48:27):
With five fifty one left to go.
Speaker 3 (48:28):
Second quarter Blue Devils having a quella the run hereby Whitman,
who's on a seven o run in the last two
minutes and thirty seven seconds had a man of Geeson
three that made it twenty three to twenty, but at
that point Whitman has gone on the seven old run
in Stout. Need so figure out something offensively here as
they have shot just seven of nineteen from the field
thirty six percent.
Speaker 1 (48:48):
That's a good ten percent under their normal numbers.
Speaker 3 (48:50):
Because here's Luxey Wagner number from mary Berg Lexei Wagner
flash into the hoop from the left wing man of
Geeson now at the top.
Speaker 1 (48:56):
Of the key, Geeson in toward the lane.
Speaker 3 (48:58):
Geeson backs ount On, Dry picks up the Dridon needs
some help, gets it out to Shaper in the corner.
Shafer moose left, not a Wagner. Wagner trying to find
space where three gets pass him. She'll go up with
the right hand, miss the shot. Mary Berg puts it
for trying to put it up a jump balls called
the Arrow's gonna give it to Whitman. There was one
second left on the shot locked anyway, So that's not
the end of the world there for Stout because at
(49:21):
least they get the arrow back and what likely would
have been a shot clock violation anyway. All right, thirty
to twenty Aaron favor of Whipman. I have turned up
the pressure of it. Stouts made a couple bad shots,
a couple of bad turnovers that have led to some
points for Whitman. Witman's only turned it over once in
this game, as Martin Morgan excuse me, moves it up
on the high right for Carlisle back to Lumberg on
the high left, tries to drive past Bergen, now kicks
(49:43):
it over toward Morgan. Morgan drives it back out, throws
it away out of bounds. That's now basketball. Reagan Sorenson
is getting a quick rest. He's back into the game.
Five four to go in the second quarter. Shornson with
five points, Much with five points, Wagner with five points,
Geeze with five points. Stots spreading out the scoring. That's
the top or their typical scorers. But outside of that,
(50:07):
no one really jumping up yet here scoring wise for Stout.
Twenty points for Karen Baker, and we're not even out
of this first half yet. And there's a reaching foul
call on Lumberd and that is her first arm bar
is what's being called Carolyn Dirkson. Third foul on Whitman.
Both teams of three fouls here in this third quarter.
(50:27):
So we're still a foul to give before you get
to the bonus. Because Schaefer has it on the high
left eighteen to shoot, gets a screen from Sorens and
moves right, kicks it in the corner.
Speaker 1 (50:37):
It's much driving in much hesitates, goes.
Speaker 3 (50:40):
Up with the right hand over top Morgan in scores
and that sap ten seven oh run makes it a
thirty to twenty two Whitman lead. There are thirty eight
left to play. Second quarter high left to kneel a
little trap defense. There's the zone from the Blue Devils.
They go inside to Morgan, oh Is jump on.
Speaker 2 (50:55):
And god by a bitch to earn the jump.
Speaker 1 (50:59):
Morgan then kind of has a couple of words there
for Keith Lherman.
Speaker 3 (51:06):
And the Blue Devils get it back on the arrow
chain thirty to twenty two. Whitman leads out trying to
find their way back into it. Eesa on the high
right wing, looks in towards Sorenson on the other side
of the lane, goes to Wagner at the free throw line.
Ball fake kicks it out to Sorens and Sorenson weaving it.
Sorenson taking some contact from Neil and that was not
(51:28):
a shooting fowl to be out of bounds to style.
But that was the fourth fowl on Whipman in the quarter.
She sound's gonna be shooting free throws for the next
four to fifteen of this quorder if they can get
in toward the toward the hoop and cause more contact
from Whitman in bounds from Shafer on the baseline in
the front court almost at Geeson wasn't there. They'll go
out all the way to Sorenson. Sorenson drives on the
(51:50):
top of the key again. Neil reaches in out to Wagner.
She wants a three.
Speaker 1 (51:53):
She's got up through thirty to twenty five.
Speaker 3 (51:57):
Whitman leads in a little run here per Stati five
run this whipman, trying to find an answer. Here's that
trap defense from south. I'll go to Morgan in the
short corner into Andrade. She makes the bucket a little
bit late recovering and the passing is so good from
this whipman. Team hard to run that trap defense, that
kind of zoned junk defense that Stout likes to run
sometimes and make it effective all the time. Here's Sorensen.
(52:20):
Num moves it on the left wing to much much
up top to Geeson. Decent looking right. She'll go over
to Wagner and I'm no Baker in there at the moment,
so this is go time for Stout.
Speaker 1 (52:30):
They bounce into Much in the lane. She hangs and
pops hits the two. They want a three second call.
But he was a good friend of mine who is
an official.
Speaker 3 (52:37):
He used to say, you can't count by twos thirty
two twenty seven here in favor of of Whitman Andrane
in the short corner out to kneel again trap defense
from Stout. They switched it across right at three on
the way from Carlisle, off the mark, no rebound Stout,
Ada Much has it. Stout down five with three zero
light to go, bad pass stolen away by Carlisle. Much
(52:58):
is back to defend, though she'll go out.
Speaker 2 (53:00):
Oh look an extra step. They didn't call it much
got the rebound.
Speaker 3 (53:03):
Holy cow, Stout gonna slow it down. I think that
probably ends up working out in the end. As Sorenson
at the top of the key, they post up with
much tough catch inside. She couldn't get their bodies go
cratch me and Lumberg comes away with it. For Whitmen,
she go to Carlisle on the right side, wants a
three on the way good, thirty five twenty seven whipmen
(53:25):
to thirty seven to go in this second a little
bit out of sorts. That junk defense just kind of
puts everybody into a sped up process, and the Blue
Devils had a hard time figuring out how to slow
it down. Here's Wagner out on the left wing, got
a hand right in her face from Carlisle. She goes
inside to Anna much left side of lane. Fade away
jump or no, it's short. Lundberg with the rebound. That's
(53:46):
not the kind of shot you on if you're south
right in that situation, you gotta get much going a
little bit more to the hoop than that back on
her back, but just never good for hers. Here's Lumberg
with it left wing to Morgan. Morgan switches across Carlisle
and it's almost out of allends and she throws it wildly.
Morgan catches at the top of the key back to Carlisle.
She just pops a three and it is short. The
(54:07):
rebound will go to Geeson, Geeson, then it goes to
the deck and they're gonna.
Speaker 1 (54:11):
Call it a jump. Hall Man a lie.
Speaker 3 (54:14):
A lot of contact inside on the rebound and not
enough for the officials there at thirty five twenty seven
women with the lead, and they're gonna hold onto basketball
on the alternating arrow. The question of whether Geeson had control,
I think a matter of what they want to put
the shot clock to here, Whether the shot clock should
(54:34):
have reset or not. Right now, it's reset to twenty.
I think the officials seem to be okay with that.
They may go back to the monitor to look because
again that ball did not hit the rim or anything
like that. They're gonna reset it to thirty because Stout
had possession in the backcourt and then gave it up,
so they get thirty to shoot instead of twenty.
Speaker 1 (54:56):
That's the difference here.
Speaker 3 (54:58):
So the inbound coming here for lead into the game,
all Morgan gets wide open on the inbound and got
away on that screen. It's a back to a ten
point Whipmen lead, tied for their largest of the game,
thirty seven to twenty seven. Here's Wagner high wine and
left Wagner dribbling, gonna try to drive it all the
way to the hoop, and some help defense and a
late job getting in there by Baker, and just as
she comes back into the game, picks up her second
(55:18):
foul and that'll send Wagner to the line here for
a couple of free throws. And every time Wagner drives,
you're worried about reaggravating that ankle. You're worried about the meat,
You're worried about everything from her but if this is
her last college game, she's gonna lay it all on
the line. Here tonight.
Speaker 1 (55:37):
Thirty seven twenty seven, Whitman Wagner at the line, first
free throw go heard. Let see.
Speaker 3 (55:45):
Wagner described as a gym rat, just never leaves it.
I mean she she'll be in the gym till whatever
hours in the morning, shooting around. She did it all summer.
She does it every summer, every offseason.
Speaker 1 (55:57):
She's just shooting. That's all. She doesn't shoot.
Speaker 3 (56:00):
That is why it translates into two main free throws
there thirty seven to twenty nine here in favor of women.
One thirty left to go here in the second quarter,
lumberd moving right to go inside here, Morgan had it
deflected away, went off the backboard, It's grabbed by Wagner.
Wagner up for Reagan Sorens and Reagan Sorenson into the lane,
going in, hands off the geese and off the window.
Speaker 1 (56:18):
Yes, right over top of Drango and it's a six
point game.
Speaker 3 (56:22):
Thirty seven thirty one, Whitman won, thirteen to go here
in the first half, Lundberg finally gets across the timeline
as she was waiting from the play from the bench.
Use it off on the left wing here for Morgan,
or going up top to drango off on the right
for Carlisle, Carlos up top here for leak leet and
a screen or a foul called on Sorenson fighting through
a screen. I believe that is her second foul as well.
(56:46):
It is the fourth on stout of the quarter. So
not shooting yet as Whitman, but they will be shortly.
I think they're gonna get Sorenson out to save her
from picking up a third before the second half. Schaeffer
and much in Berg and Sorens out fifty eight point
seven to go here in the second twenty to shoot
here for Whitman thirty seven thirty one. Whitman leads Lumberg
(57:09):
trying to get open a nice job to denying that
pass by shape. They go to Carlile instead, guarded by Wagner,
tries to get past her, fades away that is way
short and Deson gets the rebound. They can push it here.
They can get a two for one if they hurry
up to much much going all the way to the hoop.
That's gotta be a foul. Oh Jesus hopefully not hurt.
She went down hard as Carlisle made sure she didn't
(57:29):
get the bucket. Holy cow, that is a tough, hard foul.
Whoa boy.
Speaker 1 (57:36):
I don't think they'll look at that.
Speaker 3 (57:40):
Anna Much go in the line here for a couple
of free throws, and only forty six seconds remain, so
in effect you're getting two for one, especially if you
can make these two free throws.
Speaker 1 (57:54):
Ana Much just asked that it wasn't two. I don't think.
I think she maybe thought that that ball went in.
Speaker 3 (58:00):
The first, and Much with ten points already tonight, that's
her first main free throw, and she is the second
player for the Blue Devils and double figures as Wagner
has ten as well. Again twenty for Bakers so far,
and nobody else really in that same range. As Much
hits the second as well. Just like that, it's a
four point game, thirty seven to thirty three. Whitman leans
(58:20):
six to Oh, run here for South and again they're
not gonna hurry here, so it looks like Stout's gonna
get probably the final shot of this quarter, barring any
kind of weird business here Enna Much Oh, she comes
in and gets the steal and then there's a grab
by leath on the other side.
Speaker 1 (58:34):
Now Much Day's with it. Much floats to the left side.
Speaker 3 (58:36):
About a three to four second differench WHI can game
in shock Pak Stout Trails Bive Core Whitman thirty seven
Stout thirty three, second round of the NCAA Tournament. As
we near the end of the first half, Sam Shaeffer
between the wheels, moves in, goes left to Geeson. Shaffer
try to get open and said Geeseon loses a dribble,
I'll say he's with that left handed scoop.
Speaker 12 (58:55):
No Lee.
Speaker 1 (58:59):
Whitman fan are incensed, and the Blue Devils fans love it.
Speaker 3 (59:06):
Nine point nine to go in the second and Amanda
Geeson now to the free throw line. Deason set a
record earlier this season for fourteen made free throws in
a game. You're stout, so she gets there pretty often,
and she makes that free throw. Thirty seven thirty four
(59:28):
are in favor of Whipman. Nine point nine to go
in the second. Baker not in there again. She hasn't
had a ton of foul trouble. I don't know if
they just want to give her a little bit of
a rest load. Management kind of thing for the second half.
We'll see Geeson makes the second thirty seven thirty five
whipmen and an eight oh run here per Stout at
the end of the half. So far, here's Carlisle with
seven or six to go to Drango, Drango at the
(59:49):
free throw line, and.
Speaker 2 (59:50):
She traddled on nine traveled at the free throw line.
Speaker 3 (59:54):
Three point seven to go. They're gonna get Lager much
and Sorenson back in. Man, it's get all the offensive
scores and shooters back in. What play they want to
run here to try to get somebody open. With three
point seven to go in the second, Stout down two
inbounds and go to Wagner.
Speaker 1 (01:00:14):
She'll take a couple of dribbles here. She wants a
half guardeb on the way.
Speaker 13 (01:00:17):
No, it is short.
Speaker 3 (01:00:19):
That's the place you wanted, that's the spot you wanted.
You could tell, but she missed them. Boy, how's the
good first half with him? At times looked like they
were gonna pull away from the Blue Devils. But Stout
with an eighty oh run at the end of the
half makes it a two point game. And you can
listen to this crowd that the last twenty minutes of
(01:00:41):
this game are gonna be something else here tonight.
Speaker 1 (01:00:45):
Do not go anywhere and stay tuned. Let's take a

Speaker 3 (01:00:50):
We're gonna be back with us as an athletic director,

women's basketball of the Blue Devils in across Division three.
We're gonna chat with Theyaron here in a minute feedback
right after this here it's halftime. It is Whitman thirty

Welcome back once again here to UW Sound and two
Johnson Field House. It's halftime of our second round NCAA
matchup here from Menominee thirty seven thirty five lead for
women over stout at halftime. I'm joined by Aaron Sullivan.
This is an athletic director for the Blue Devils. And
can we give you any other time? You know I
call I called Dewey coach last night, so I gotta
(01:02:35):
give you, I mean your coach before I guess I
call you coach as well.
Speaker 17 (01:02:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 18 (01:02:38):
No, So I've been a social nowman Deputy.
Speaker 1 (01:02:40):
Eighty So who knows, Oh, dep Deputy Okay, got stuff
there that's pretty good. They give you a badge for
that or something.
Speaker 19 (01:02:45):
That's what I feel like.
Speaker 3 (01:02:46):
Nonetheless, Aaron has done a great job putting this being
one of the people, but I think being at the
head of putting a lot of those together for the
hosting situation. And I talked about this with Dewey yesterday,
the fact that, you know, I think with the way
the sea and ended for Stout in the YAC tournament,
and Kevin thought, all right, you put in the bid,
you put in the bid to host, but you're like,
it's probably not gonna happen. And obviously kind of the
(01:03:07):
stars aligned with everything.
Speaker 1 (01:03:09):
To do that.
Speaker 3 (01:03:10):
So once you know on Monday that that's happening, you
gotta get to Friday, which then give you a whole
lot of time. And probably I think, out of all
the places that are hosting this weekend, probably had the
least idea that they would be hosting as well. So
tell us a little bit about kind of how that
all went down and how you got this all together.
Speaker 20 (01:03:27):
Yeah, so you don't find out if you're gonna host
until that Monday, when the selection show comes out. So
the nice in NCAA does do is do potential hosting
calls so you can get your manuals ready and different
things like that. But until you really know it hits
you and then it's like, oh no, here we go.
So we did have a meeting schedule just in case
because you never know, right, So we all met Monday
afternoon and kind of just started divvying out jobs from
(01:03:48):
there and you know, to give you a checklist and
all that kind of stuff, and so you just start
you know, doing it and.
Speaker 18 (01:03:53):
Just getting the place prepared.
Speaker 20 (01:03:54):
And then you know, Wednesday night we set it up
because it has to be ready to go. If Thursday
it needs to be game set up for all the
practices and whatnot huts. So so we went ahead and
did that and then you know, today was probably the
easiest day. It was just a lot of waiting around,
you know, after the shoot around, so it was just
you know, really just the help that we have was huge,
you know, Eric Johnson, Andrew DeLong, Dewey, you know, Casey
(01:04:17):
just I mean, our entire staff.
Speaker 12 (01:04:18):
You know.
Speaker 18 (01:04:18):
Even then we had a staff meeting and said who
wants to help us?
Speaker 20 (01:04:21):
So then a bunch of coaches jumped in and help,
and we just handed out a bunch of jobs and
here we are today, and I think we've put on
a pretty good, pretty good show.
Speaker 18 (01:04:27):
Our crowds have been great, So thanks to the Menomenian
community for that.
Speaker 1 (01:04:30):
Yeah, it's been that. And you said putting on a show.
Speaker 3 (01:04:32):
And I talked with Dooey about this last I said,
it looks different here right with the screens and all
the NCAA signage, which is great, but I think you
guys have gone to a pretty pretty full links to
make this feel, you know, like a real special experience
for everybody who came, including Superior and Ripping yesterday. Talk
a little bit about that, because you know, obviously it's
a neutral site, but at the same time, you're just
trying to make this a special experience for.
Speaker 20 (01:04:53):
The Apple Yeah, I mean, yeah, you know, we're in
this business period to make that experience really good for
our student athletes, and that's what we believe it stout
And why wouldn't we transition into an nca environment for them.
I mean it's pretty special sixty fourteen to get in
this thing, right, So so for us to dress up
our facility that was really important to us and whatnot.
Speaker 18 (01:05:08):
So yeah, the black curtains is a new addition for us,
and that's good. It looks nice in here.
Speaker 20 (01:05:13):
I think, you know, you can't have any of your
branding and different things like that, so they send you
a banner package and we're able to place them I
think in really good spots.
Speaker 18 (01:05:20):
And I mean it helps our facilities blue to kind
of go with NCAA team.
Speaker 1 (01:05:23):
To you, right, absolutely, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, you know.
Speaker 3 (01:05:27):
One of the cool things I know, and I guess
to put the athletic director hat back on a little
bit here, but one of the cool things, and we
saw it last year when the team made it down
to Carrol and then to Whitewater for the Sweet sixteen,
is that the alumni sport. And it's great usually for Stout, Yeah,
but to just see some of the old players, and
obviously you playing with some of those folks as well.
Talk a little bit about that because you know, on
(01:05:47):
this Scout team specifically, there's a lot of record holders
that are playing right now, and there's a lot of
players who you know, have had records broken or that
they're now next to. And to see some of those
folks back is a pretty special thing to see this
alumni network.
Speaker 20 (01:06:00):
Yeah yeah, so I actually coach here so from two
thousand and three to seven, so we're lucky and we
won those three conference titles.
Speaker 18 (01:06:06):
We made three NCAA tournaments you know, in a row.
Speaker 20 (01:06:08):
So last night we had I think up to five
alumps here from you know, that era in that group.
So it's just kind of fun to talk to them
and them you know, kind of relive. Hey, remember that,
you know, we hosted last in two thousand and seven,
I believe, you know, So they really enjoyed that. Andy
appreciate that. And it's I think it's the support that
we have just in the women's basketball program.
Speaker 18 (01:06:26):
It's huge.
Speaker 20 (01:06:27):
But overall, you know, our alums, and that's become a
focus of our department is just engage in that alumni
and any way we can, you know, just moving forward.
Speaker 18 (01:06:34):
So to see them here last night was a lot
of fun. And then it's always great to catch up
with them too while they're here and see their babies
and all that kind of stuff.
Speaker 1 (01:06:40):
Absolutely, I mean, just to see kind of that family aspect.
Speaker 3 (01:06:43):
And that's the case for Whitman and that's the case
for everybody else, right, all those great alumni networks that
you have. But also you know, I know, you get
to be part of you know, and have been part
of many committees at the NCAA level, and to see
some of the NCAA folks, whether it's people from D
three hoops dot com or some of those places come out,
whether it's site managers and all that. It is kind
of a good networking opportunity, not for you, not only
(01:07:03):
for you, but for other folks as well to kind
of see, oh yeah, we are connected to a larger
community here and to see everybody here and to get
to interact with them. Yeah, it is also pretty special.
Speaker 4 (01:07:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:07:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 20 (01:07:12):
So right now I'm on the NCAA nominating committee. Actually
I have to go to Indiana to the nca offices
on Tuesday.
Speaker 1 (01:07:17):
All right, come for some getting ready for that?
Speaker 18 (01:07:19):
Ready, here we go? Yeah, I know, right, let's you know,
I'll help you some fans out. But you know, it's
it's been fun and being on that committee.
Speaker 20 (01:07:26):
You know, I didn't know what to expect going into it,
but yeah, good network in athletics is super important.
Speaker 18 (01:07:31):
So what that committee does is we pick.
Speaker 20 (01:07:33):
The individuals to be on all of the NCAA committees,
you know, for legislation, of the sport committees, all of them.
Speaker 18 (01:07:37):
So it's been fun because I was in the NCAA
Pathway program, so you know, you have really good networks
through there and.
Speaker 20 (01:07:44):
Just going to convention, you know, on SWA things and
just everything you do in nca you're always networking. So
I find myself as I read through these nominations now
all the time, oh, I know that person, or.
Speaker 18 (01:07:53):
I know someone at their school, or I know someone
in that league.
Speaker 14 (01:07:56):
You know.
Speaker 20 (01:07:56):
So that's been a really good thing to be able
to help place people on committees and have enjoyed it,
you know, along the way, and it's my second year,
so you serve four year terms.
Speaker 18 (01:08:04):
I also served as I'm on.
Speaker 20 (01:08:05):
The National Volleyball Committee back in like two thousand and
I think it was ten to fourteen in that range,
and you know, so you help put on the actual
championship when they get to that, you know, that final site.
But along the way you're helping the regional advisory committees
and all that, of which currently I am a Regional
Advisory Committee.
Speaker 18 (01:08:21):
Member for women's basketball, so I represent the YAP right now.
Speaker 5 (01:08:24):
In Region nine.
Speaker 3 (01:08:24):
Pretty cool and like you said, I mean D three
is the biggest, right four four hundred plus schools in it,
but it is still that kind of type that community.
Speaker 4 (01:08:32):
It is.
Speaker 18 (01:08:32):
Yeah, and you know that's what's been fun along the way.
Speaker 20 (01:08:34):
And you know in basketball to sport, you know, me
me involved in for so long, you just you know,
so many just different people or know someone and whatnot.
Speaker 18 (01:08:40):
So yeah, it's a fun thing.
Speaker 3 (01:08:43):
That's awesome and great to cease out get the host obviously,
and boy, it's been a lot of fun to see
everybody get into it.
Speaker 1 (01:08:48):
Yeah, dancer at halftime and whenever I.
Speaker 20 (01:08:51):
Don't look at that right there, that's wow. This crowd
loves to have fun and joys to get people going,
and it's great. And like I said, we just can't.
The Stout community has been phenomenal, you know, right, students,
some to our faculty staff. You know, there's a lot
of those spaces here and then just the Monomini communities
fun just to wash them all walk in the door
and you know, really get behind this group. And you know,
I would say overall this year, our tenants has been
really good, just at all of our ements.
Speaker 18 (01:09:11):
So it's been a lot of fun.
Speaker 20 (01:09:13):
And you know, we're just really trying to engage that community,
and you know, we want to put good products on
the floor, and obviously we've.
Speaker 18 (01:09:18):
Done that with this group.
Speaker 1 (01:09:19):
It's been a lot of fun and all right, twenty
more minutes. Yeah, and as you guys can.
Speaker 18 (01:09:23):
Finally breathe, great, we pulled you within two years.
Speaker 3 (01:09:25):
So yeah, we'll see how it all goes down. Gonna
be a fun second half. I appreciate you taking the time.
Speaker 18 (01:09:29):
Yeah, thanks, Bee, appreciate it.
Speaker 3 (01:09:30):

Speaker 3 (01:10:51):
It is halftime between Stout and Whipman, with a trip
to the Sweet sixteen on the line here for one
of these two teams in women's basketball and Division three
peacaonoots and with you Happy to have along with us
on the NCA Sports Network special Thanks to that Ben
Tierman and a Dan Price for bringing you tonight's sites
and sounds here on the NCAA Sports Network thirty seven
thirty five lead for whip Them. Get to the stats
(01:11:11):
here in just a moment, do you want to move
around the WIA score apartment, not the w Well, I
will talk about the WIAC But just who has punched
your tickets to the Sweet sixteen already? And there's a
number of teams that have already won. Scranton has won tonight.
They won seventy to forty nine over Baits. So Scranton
will play.
Speaker 1 (01:11:27):
Johns Hopkins in the Sweet sixteen.
Speaker 3 (01:11:29):
And whoever wins here and whoever wins between Whitewater and
Lacrosse is going to Scranton.
Speaker 1 (01:11:34):
I don't think there'll be any doubt of that.
Speaker 3 (01:11:35):
Again, that's not official and you'll have to wait till
the NCAA comes out with the official bids there. But
I would be shocked if Scranton is not hosting next week.
I think with the geography and how it all works
out as well. At halftime or go part me is
three thirty one left in the third. It's a low
scoring game for thirty thirty one left in the third,
but Whitewater leads thirty two to thirty one at home
(01:11:56):
against uw Lacrosse. Again, we know one YAC team is
getting into the sweet sixteen from that game. Oshkosh is
up on the other side of the bracket in the
bottom left forty two thirty two on Bethel. The other
part of that bottom left hand quadrant, Baldon Wallace in Ohio.
Wesleyan have advanced. They will go on to the sweet
sixteen as well, go to the top of the bracket.
(01:12:17):
Not a whole lot of official finals there yet. A
couple Gettysburg with the win over Western New England. They
will move on to play Randolph Macon in the championship
there or in the sweet sixteen there. NYU is up
big on Trinity Connecticut as we expected. Sonny Geneseo has
won as well, so NYU is an all likely who
are gonna be Yeah, they're gonna host in that upper right.
Speaker 1 (01:12:41):
Hand quadrant as well.
Speaker 3 (01:12:43):
Smith has won against Amherst, so they will be moving
on Portland and Bowden. I don't know if they've had
a delayer. We just don't have a It looks like
Bowden's up sixty one to fifty one, but I think
there might be a little bit of an issue with
the stats system of how that's all going as well
one other kind of close by score Gastavis leading twenty
eight to twenty six over war For all right, halftime
stats here in this game, let's take a look at
(01:13:04):
him as the Blue Devils shooting forty four percent in
that first half eleven of twenty five shooting and four
of ten.
Speaker 1 (01:13:11):
From beyond the arc, three of nine from beyond the
arc for.
Speaker 3 (01:13:14):
Whitman, and they shot fifty one percent fourteen of twenty
seven and Corinn Baker was eight of nine in that
first half, does have two fouls, but does have twenty points.
Nobody else on Whipman has more than six points, six
for Carlisle, four for Andrade, two for Morgan, and three
for Martin. Martin had some early foul trouble as well,
so Martin and Baker should be pretty I would just
(01:13:35):
say pretty fresh in the second half, because Baker didn't
play a lot of the second quarter and Martin.
Speaker 1 (01:13:41):
Was limited with some early foul trouble as well.
Speaker 2 (01:13:43):
All right.
Speaker 3 (01:13:43):
For the Blue Devils, they are led by Anna Much
who has eleven points tonight and six rebounds. Luxey Wagner
has ten points and one rebound, Reagan Sorenson just on
five points with the three of three at the free
throw line, which is oh of one for me on
the arc and one of four at the from the field. Rather,
Mann Eason has nine points, but only those four players
(01:14:06):
have scored per Stout. Nobody else has contributed yet on
the points scoring sheet yet in this contest for the
Blue Devils, So that's how.
Speaker 1 (01:14:14):
Things set up.
Speaker 3 (01:14:14):
Sound Out rebounded Whitmen fourteen to thirteen in the first half,
as you can see, and Blue Levels made eight turnovers.
Speaker 1 (01:14:21):
Women made a few there late. They'd only had one.
Speaker 3 (01:14:23):
Turnover of about five minutes or so left in the
second quarter, and all of a sudden they'd started turning
the ball over a lot without Baker in the game.
In the end, the points off of turnovers were just
in favor of Whitmen, twelve to nine. Stout kind of
equaled out the points in the paint a bit, twenty
to twelve in favor of Whitman in that category, and
(01:14:43):
I believe all twenty of those points in the faint
are the twenty that Baker has. They might be a
little bit off on that, but nonetheless I ash she
has four of the line, so a couple other players
have points in the mate, but sixteen, yeah, sixteen of
the twenty points in the paint points for Whitmen have come.
I'm current Baker. So's how things set up for the
second half? Blue Devils run an eight to oh run
(01:15:05):
last minute forty nine on the second or the first
half man a Geese's three of four from the field
or three of her last four, I should say, and
see Wagner three of her last four or in Baker
again eight of nine in that first half. So we
are ready for the second half. It is Whitman thirty seven,
Stout thirty five. Stout will have the ball to start
(01:15:29):
the second half. Blue Devils will move left to right
as you watch him at home in the road Blue
uniforms here at Johnson Fieldhouse as women is the higher seats.
They're in the on white uniforms with Stout in the
road Blues here tonight starters back out for both teams.
It looks like yep indeed, so it is Shaper, Geeson,
(01:15:50):
Sore and some much Wagner for Stout, Lumberg, Carlisle, Martin
Draango and Baker for the Whitman College Blues.
Speaker 1 (01:15:57):
Ready to go. Second half should be fun when we
look forward to it. Twenty minutes is left for.
Speaker 3 (01:16:01):
The careers of some of these players, and for one
of these teams, their dream is dashed in the next
twenty minutes. Anna Much at the top of the key.
They go to Amanda Geese's the pre throw line, looking
a hand off there. Instead, Easton turns Baker defense Easton
looking She'll go to Anna Much Baalkcake there to the
right block hangings fires missus trying for the putback.
Speaker 2 (01:16:18):
Baker gets called for a foul.
Speaker 3 (01:16:19):
It's a third and immediately Ada Much turns around and goes, yes, wow,
and that is a shooting foul as well. Anna Much
is going to the line say that that was a
putback there, and they are gonna give her the shooting foul,
and I imagine that Whitman's not gonna be terribly happy
about that.
Speaker 1 (01:16:38):
So it is Anna Much at the line. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:16:40):
I think Michelle Farenz just noticed it and saying, why
is that a shooting fowl? And they're saying it was
a putback attempt, So even though she didn't have the
ball in her hands, they're giving her two free throws here,
and Whitman is living. Anna Much at the line makes
(01:17:01):
the first thirty seven thirty six Whitman leads. Rittman has
led to ninety eight percent of this game back. All
of this game, this game has not been tied except
when it was zero zero.
Speaker 1 (01:17:18):
It's tied down.
Speaker 3 (01:17:19):
Thirty seven all Ana Much made them both. It's the
first time this game has been tied since the opening tip.
Here's Lundberg moving left. They'll hand up to Martin. Martin
back in there with those two fouls. Lumberg up top.
Animal's kind of sagging off a little bit. They'll go
to Carlisle on the right. Wagner all up in her business.
They go inside catch made by Baker, put back, yes,
put up rather yes, I should say, got it deep
(01:17:42):
deep in the lane as Wagner will catch on the
inbound thirty nine thirty seven. Whitman leads Wagner across the timeline.
Wagner moves left to Geeson. Baker defends here Baker with
one eye on her and one eye toward the lane, and.
Speaker 1 (01:17:54):
I'm not trying to get open.
Speaker 3 (01:17:55):
Geeson then goes out to shape her a three on
the way that is short and Sorenson can't tip it out.
Drango with the rebound, body's crashing all around. Here's Martin
quickly on the front court. Martin floats out on the
left wing, trying to drive in on Wagner, kicks it
across right side. Carlisle open for three. Got it forty
two thirty seven Whipmen. A great little start here from
Whitman after stout. Many of those two free throws. A
(01:18:18):
couple of sets set up and they look good in
executing them. With eight forty two left of play, third quarter,
five point lead for Whitman. Here is Shaper on the
high right wing. She moves up top to Geese and
geese and steps into a three from the top that
is too strong and had a much trying to get there,
and we gotta file on Whitman.
Speaker 1 (01:18:33):
I think.
Speaker 3 (01:18:36):
They're gonna get Martin for holding on to much. Who
was trying to get the ball. Let's take a look
back at it. There's much going for it, and Martin's
just backing her back down. I think because they weren't
squared up. That's why they called the foul, and that
is the who they call this son calling on Martin.
It's got to be a Martin, I would think can
we get one more look at that replay there, Ben,
(01:18:57):
see if we can just see that again. They called
it i think on Carlyle for her second and I'm
not sure we can queue that replay back up. Carolyn
Dirkson is gonna go to the table here. It was
reported as Carlisle number three, but that was I think
clearly on Mark. I think they just missed the number.
So the teams are gonna have to decide here. Taking
(01:19:20):
a look back at the replay again, see the shot
coming in from Geeson, the miss. Yeah, Carlile is nowhere
near that ball. She's out kind of, She's out on
the three point line by Wagner, well far away from
that ball. So good job there, Thanks guys for the
replay that is very clearly on Martin. And got a
media timeout, so they're gonna take a media timeout so
(01:19:42):
that they can look at this here. So they're gonna
take the media time out here, I guess as well.
I'm not sure if this is the under five or
this is the coaches timeout, but we get three media
timeouts basically plus a fourth for the in between quarters breaks,
and they're gonna burn one of those four here with
a thirty two lefts. They're gonna take a look at
that fort in favor of Whitman. SAT will have the
(01:20:02):
basketball regardless of how they review this, and we'll come
back right after this here on the NCAA Sports Network.

Speaker 3 (01:21:11):
Welcome back in here, Zee Johnson Fieldhouse forty two to
thirty seven whipmen with the lead on stout. Little explanation
going on here, there was a discreption. They did go
back to the monitor and the foul was on Carly Martin,
not on Christian Carlisle. So Martin picks up her third
foul here as Wagner catches in the corner on the
inbound stout down forty two to thirty seven, she moves left,
takes the three.
Speaker 2 (01:21:32):
She gets a whole. Oh that was a lucky role.
Speaker 1 (01:21:35):
Her lipsy Wagner and it's forty two forty.
Speaker 3 (01:21:40):
Whipman leads Martin with three fouls, trying to drive in
on shapeer. She'll float left, moves it back right. They
left Carlisle op and they can't do that.
Speaker 2 (01:21:49):
She'll score the three.
Speaker 3 (01:21:51):
She has been deadly from beyond the arc. That is
her fourth made three of the game, twelve points for Carlisle.
She's the second player for Whitman in double figures. Forty
five forty here in favor of Whipmen Sorenson in the
right corner. Sorenson want to drive it into the lane,
has to float out across the free throw line. They
move it left side now of for Animus forty five
forty women. Animus driving to the lane stop hesitates, goes
up with the right hand right through Carlisle and she's
(01:22:13):
s forty five Movie two Whitman Whipman quickly across Martin
on the left wing, trying to drive on Shafer.
Speaker 1 (01:22:20):
Schaffer tried to poke it from behind.
Speaker 3 (01:22:21):
They'll go out to Drago long two from the top,
rattles out and Baker popped out of there. Who's gonna
grab the ball? It's on the floor and it'll be
a jump ball. The arrow will give it to Whitman.
With seven point thirty left to play in the third quarter,
Andrade and Morgan checking in for Whitman. Berg and Willie
in for Stout, Martin and Baker out for Whitman, and
(01:22:43):
in Swagner and Geeson out for the new doubles. Forty
five two Whomen leads seven thirty left to play third
quarter and they have the ball do the Blues on
this alternate possession on the baseline, there is nobody getting open.
After go all the way out to Carlisle at the
top of the key, Carlile catches, sworns and Defense gets
(01:23:04):
a screen from Drango and move it across the lumber
Lumber back on the right for Carlisle.
Speaker 1 (01:23:08):
Willy switched off on her there.
Speaker 3 (01:23:10):
Now they move it in the lefts after Lumberg Lumber
guarded by Berg switching across right. Morgan drives in and
a file called on Shaper, Spurst file on Stout. Of
the third quarter, two fouls.
Speaker 1 (01:23:21):
Have been called on Whitman. Safer believed that is her first.
Speaker 22 (01:23:24):
It is.
Speaker 3 (01:23:27):
And Whittman'll have it on the baseline in the front
court out of bounds with twenty to shoot. Carlisle catches
in the right corner. They go back to Morgan. The
inbounder Ran wanted to drive cut off by Shaper. She'll
go up at the right hand block by Shaper, and
it's graand by Shaper as well. She got the block
in the steel, Shafer up ahead to marry Berg. Mary
Berg in the corner to much much thought about the
three now dribbles it back out and she'd go to
(01:23:48):
Willy at the top. Willy up on the high right
to Shafer Shaffer looking for a pass that's not there.
And then a hole is called away from the ball
because Anna Munch was trying to get open and they
got Andrade for a hole. Her second and Lexie Wagner
are gonna check back into the game with the Blue Devils.
Speaker 1 (01:24:03):
So as Elisa Lodermer.
Speaker 3 (01:24:05):
Sorenson checks out and Shaper checks in. Forty five forty
two Whipmen six point fifty four to go in the third,
mary Berg to inbound for the baseline. Beautiful catch from
Wagner off the window. Yes, almost a foul from Carlisle
as well. Forty five forty four Whitman a one point Whitman.
The lead stout needs to stop bad on this defensive
(01:24:28):
end of the ball. Baker is out of there right
now with some foul trouble with three Drango on the
high left wing loose it up to Carlisle at the
top of a key, to Lumberg on the right side.
Lumberg looking for the entry pass into the post. It's
not there, and Andre dapro across loder Myyer. They're gonna
get loader Meyer before she got thrown to the deck.
(01:24:49):
I think they called this on loader Meyer. I think
we're holding on before she got thrown. Then she got
thrown down.
Speaker 1 (01:24:55):
So you can see on the replay there coach Iverson
is wondering if the officials maybe can take a look
at that, but they won't. Forty five, forty four.
Speaker 3 (01:25:05):
In favor of women out to Drango at the top,
look inside catch may they take it left?
Speaker 1 (01:25:09):
Carlisle another three? That's way too strong.
Speaker 3 (01:25:11):
It's gonna roll off out of bounce Andrade loses it
there and it's stout basketball. It is stout basketball, right, Yeah,
But for a second there the student section was arguing
that it wasn't awesome. Chairs go flying, as you can
see as a heck of an effort from Ondrade, who
Devil's get it on the dead ball rebound. Man and
Geeson also back in the game for Lisa Lodomeyer, who
(01:25:33):
now has three fouls. Berg Wagner Geeson much and really
the five on the floor for south Berg brings across
the timeline his Lumberg just provides pressure much looking for
Wagner in the lane much to the free throw line,
out to Willy on the left wing. Willie moves toward
the top of the key, hands off to Geeson. Eason
on the right side now moves it left wing to
(01:25:54):
much much looking in the paint. Nobody home. She'll have
to drive it herself with tend to shoot. She'll drive
to ans a fire that one rattles out much tips
it back.
Speaker 12 (01:26:03):
No.
Speaker 3 (01:26:03):
Mary Berg has foul on a put back by one Berg,
and now mary Berg the friends of the Primonomine will
head to the line. Zoovery throws five fifty five to
go here in the third, still a lot of time
left in this game. I am surprised, despite Baker having
three fouls, how little she has played in the second
(01:26:23):
quarter and in the third's mary Berg the freshman at
the line. It's only taking one field goal. It was
a three earlier in the game that she missed. After
he throw go and that ties the game of forty
five second time, but the game has been tied tonight
Stout has not led at any point of this game.
(01:26:44):
Five point fifty five to go here in the third,
Berg's free throw. It's good Stout first lead of the game,
forty six, forty five here in the second round of
the NCAA tournament, with five fifty four left the play.
In the third, there comes a south sooning section. They
know that Stout just took their first lead.
Speaker 2 (01:27:05):
Poked away from Drango up high on the top.
Speaker 1 (01:27:08):
Drango trying to hand off to Morgan on the left wing.
It's not there.
Speaker 3 (01:27:11):
They go to Lumberg and said Lundberg started by geese
and a switch here. Lumberger gona kick it in the
corner to Carlisle. Carlisle switches across the left side of Morgan.
Morgan back to Carlisle. Parallele steps into a three three second.
Speaker 2 (01:27:22):
By Lath of crag On Whitman. It's a turnal. We're
in the blue devil's habit. And listen to this.
Speaker 3 (01:27:28):
Crowd shape in Berg out my thirty one to go.
Third quarter Stout forty six, Whipman forty five. A couple
more subs, one more sub. It's Meal checking in for Carlisle.
(01:27:48):
Give her a little bit of a rest they still
have not put Baker back in. And I have no
idea why. Wagner receives the inbound shape her now is
gonna bring it across the timeline. And Stout's got a
one point lead with five point twenty four left to
play in the third quarter, so a lot of time.
Here's Gieson on the left wing.
Speaker 1 (01:28:05):
Geeson switches to the corner to Willie out to shape.
Heer on the right side. Now back to Gieson.
Speaker 3 (01:28:09):
A lot of perimeter passing here they go inside, try
to get it to Willie, but it wasn't there, and
Andrade gets the steal, Andrade with lumberd Lumber brings it
across the timeline Stout by one. That's the number five
best ranked team of the country. Drango, this is Morgan
at the top. Given go with Drago inside, She knocks
and through with the left hand in Whitman is back
(01:28:31):
out in front. Forty seven forty six four fifty to go.
Here in the third here's Soarings from the left wing,
hands off the Gieson, Geeson weaving into the lane with
the left hand scoop no.
Speaker 2 (01:28:40):
They go, oh my god, they get dead. And Drango
got culper to bowl.
Speaker 3 (01:28:46):
Drango culper third vowel and there is foul trouble around
here for the Boos four forty five love to play
in the third and then the Geeson will be at
the line with a free throw coming right after we
come stot forty eight whipment forty seven. You're watching here
on the NCAA Sports Network.
Speaker 23 (01:29:06):
In today's Marketers Report, Erica Taylor, chief marketing officer of Dinintek,
weighs in on audio's ability to reach any audience.

Forty eight forty seven Stout with the lead four forty
five left to go third quarter as the Blue Devil's
getting a big bucket from Amanda Geeson before that break
and Amanda Geson going to the.
Speaker 1 (01:30:26):
Line here to try to complete a frecent.
Speaker 3 (01:30:28):
Players to take a look at our big fan there
who is pushing this crowd along and raising the roof
as it were. Our next and former player Amber Fabec,
a couple others that are big Stout supporters is a
Manda Geston's free throw will.
Speaker 1 (01:30:45):
Crawl in.
Speaker 4 (01:30:47):
Well.
Speaker 3 (01:30:47):
Brend Baker is back in there, and she's got to
be back in this game. Women wants to go on
a run. Forty nine forty seven. Stout leads their largest
lead of the game at two. They haven't led much tonight.
Here's Andrede Baker at the top of the key. Baker
trying to hand off and picks up the pass and
hands it off the kneel. In the end meal between
the circles, Guardavan Seper twelve to shoot Neil looking for
(01:31:09):
a screen Neil.
Speaker 1 (01:31:10):
Oh instead kicks it out and Andrede three. That's short
long roll.
Speaker 3 (01:31:13):
Androdde gets to it all the way at the top
of the key. Is that ball just kind of bounced
around it tips in as they go to Lundberg now
drives out from a Neil in the right quarter back
up top to Bergan. Morgan, with tend to shoot, spins
at the left elbow into the lane, tries to pass
it off to Lunberg rows it out to Androde. The
two is short and Wagner's got the rebound here for
Stout off the shaper forty nine forty seven Blue Devils
(01:31:35):
under quarter to go on the third. Shafer pulls up
in the Freaker line, goes into Sorens and catches She's
foul and oh.
Speaker 2 (01:31:42):
God that they can't play it.
Speaker 3 (01:31:49):
How in the world did Regan's Sorens the score that bucket.
The foul is called on Morgan, the bucket goes a
give her the foul in the can continuation. There, it's
fifty one forty seven Stout and a free throw coming
(01:32:10):
for Sorenson. That is just points six and seven for
her this game after on a thirty two point night
last night. First free throw only pre throw goes in
fifty two forty seven Blue demers as Stout leads by
five Lungbird to the right to the wing, arna by Sorensen.
(01:32:30):
Nothing there, got a back and back out. Baker gives
her a screen Andrade left side ohen the lord and
switch it up to Lundberg.
Speaker 1 (01:32:37):
Lumberg steps into a three.
Speaker 2 (01:32:38):
That is good.
Speaker 1 (01:32:39):
Lumberg hits fifty two fifty Stout.
Speaker 3 (01:32:43):
Big shop from Lumberg, a thirty one percent three point
shooter gieson the other way, leaving her alone to shoot.
Shaper from the right side, trying to find Wagner. It's
not there, has to go to Sorenson on the left ring.
Sorenson trying to drive it, Andrade throws it in the
left corner. Shaper pops at three. It is no good
off the front and Morgan gets the rebound.
Speaker 2 (01:33:03):
Here for Whitman.
Speaker 3 (01:33:03):
Whitman can tire or take the lead on this bucket.
We're on this up possession rather fifty two fifty south,
three oh five to go in the third.
Speaker 1 (01:33:11):
It's lots of time left in this game.
Speaker 3 (01:33:13):
Here is Martin back in there with three fouls. Martin
at the top of the feat, guarded by Wagner, hands
off the Lumberg on the left back to Martin. Martin
in the left corner guarda by Sorenson, dribbles in to the.
Speaker 2 (01:33:22):
Hoop top shot, wild shot.
Speaker 1 (01:33:24):
No, Sorenson with.
Speaker 3 (01:33:25):
The rebound and Saddills slow it down a little bit.
Now they're gonna push it with Gieson on the right side,
Geese into the elbow, Geeson trying to find somebody it's Wagner.
Speaker 1 (01:33:32):
Wagner catches with the left hand.
Speaker 2 (01:33:34):
No, it's no good short on.
Speaker 3 (01:33:35):
The shot, and Andrade gets the rebound here for Whitman.
Fifty two fifty stout two.
Speaker 1 (01:33:43):
Thirty to go in the third, what of all?
Speaker 2 (01:33:44):
James Martin hi.
Speaker 1 (01:33:46):
Lo with Baker catches, goes up, She got it.
Speaker 3 (01:33:49):
Fifty two all. Cannot give Baker that much space underneath.
And a quick little five zero run here from Whitman
has this game tied again. Wagner dribbling up the hedge
from Baker. They go back to Geeson. Geeson trying to
go to the hood.
Speaker 2 (01:34:03):
She will also score.
Speaker 1 (01:34:06):
Baker got caught off on the pick and roll, and
she was behind the.
Speaker 3 (01:34:11):
Whole way fifty four fifty two as Geson scores the
lay up here spartin between the circles, Goos left to Morgan,
Morgan on the left wing, up to Lumberg, Lumberg to
Baker on on the right wing. Baker looking to drive
on Geeson. Geeson kept her off that as not soil boy.
I'm gonna get Geeson for a foul. I think Tim
Gilbertson might have anticipated that a bit. That's a good defense.
(01:34:32):
A little bit of a reach there, but only one hand.
They'll usually let that go and think your mind events
of anticipation there. Nonetheless, six twenty foul on Geeson, and
it's out of bounds to Whitman here with fifty to
play in the third tour, Wagner gonna check out. She
got Burg, Willie, much Sorenson and Shapeer the five of
the floor for stout. Morgan trying to inbound here to Baker.
(01:34:54):
She'll catch out in the short corner. It's a bad
foul from Willy really, just a little too aggressive and
this word I believe it is.
Speaker 1 (01:35:06):
Stout.
Speaker 3 (01:35:07):
By two fifty four fifty two to fifty nine left
to go on the third, Lumberg catches in the right corner.
Lumberg floats out now moves it left over to Morgan.
Morgan is open, didn't take the shot. They go into
Androde and Roddy with the right hand, no good rebound much.
Stout's trying to make other players shoot and when they
do they've had having some success. Shaper on the right
wing can't find the outlet, pass in the corner to Willie.
(01:35:27):
Willy skips it up top to Sorens and Sorenson puts
it on the deck, drives toward the hoop.
Speaker 1 (01:35:31):
Sorenson loses it back out to Willy.
Speaker 3 (01:35:33):
A three on the way, short long rebound rolls out
to Androdde, and Willy misses for the second time tonight.
Speaker 1 (01:35:38):
I'm not sure we'll see her shoot again. After those
two misses.
Speaker 3 (01:35:40):
There's Lumberg with nineteen to go on the third. What
a ball game this has been. Martin Guardabye Schaffer between
the circus. Martin looking she'll outlet left side now to Morgan.
Morgan looking into the post, not there Lumberg guarda by
Shaper out of Martin. They go inside, deflected by Willy
and it's grabbed by Sorenson, encurns it with the steel.
(01:36:01):
Stout by two under a minute left to go in
the third quarter, left Wing three on the way.
Speaker 2 (01:36:05):
That's gone how much turns, get a camera.
Speaker 1 (01:36:09):
And said let it out.
Speaker 3 (01:36:10):
Fifty seven fifty two Stout forty seven seconds remain in.
Speaker 2 (01:36:14):
The third quarter.
Speaker 3 (01:36:18):
Lundberg right wing in the corner to Morgan. Morgan guard
of I Burgs goes in the post of Baker. Baker
wants to drive, takes the two misses. It rebound much
for Stout and about a one second differential between game
and shock block. Here Shaper will slow it down and
they'll try to hold for as close to the last
(01:36:38):
shot as they can get. Shafer guarded by Lumberg. Shaffer
dribbles left, Lundberger provides pressure. Now much Much gets a
screen and a bummer month before Oh my goodness, fourth
bow on Martin and she picks it up.
Speaker 2 (01:36:52):
Before the fourth quarter.
Speaker 1 (01:36:54):
Wagner's gonna check back in.
Speaker 3 (01:36:55):
That is the they are over the limit, as it were,
his whitmen, I'm gonna send much to the line for
two shots. Stout is shot well the free throw line tonight.
I'm not gonna say how well, but they have shot well.
Fifty seven to fifty two Stout League twelve point two
(01:37:18):
to go in the third quarter. Still got another ten
minutes of this game?
Speaker 1 (01:37:20):
Are you kidding? The Holy cow Panda? Much first one is.
Speaker 3 (01:37:27):
Short, but it rolls in the shooters touch Fromana much
nineteen panamuch tonight one more from Ana much.
Speaker 1 (01:37:44):
Good.
Speaker 3 (01:37:45):
Fifty nine fifty two start with their largest lead of
the game, twelve point two left to go in the third.
Lumberg quickly I had they want to get one final
shot off here at his whipman Lumberg moving right, Willie
hedges out beautifully, Lumberg in trouble. It's deflected the way
Baker's got it turns, rubles In takes the two made
it at the buzzer, Baker trying to provide that spark
(01:38:05):
at the end of the third quarter, and Michelle Forrems
is out on the court yelling about a fottle there
as she gives the referees the business.
Speaker 1 (01:38:16):
Fifty nine fifty four.
Speaker 3 (01:38:17):

Speaker 3 (01:39:46):
And while she is getting into it with the students
and everybody else, but a heck of an environment here
is about as good as you can get. You're in
college basketball this level. Aaron Monomena, Wisconsin fifty nine to
fifty four, Stout with the lead here the second round.
Stout shooting forty six percent from the field, six of
sixteen from beyond the arc. Whitmen six of fourteen from
beyond the arc, fifty percent from the field. Blue Devils
(01:40:08):
have been the line a lot in this game, and
that is a difference. Seventeen made free throws versus six
for Whitmen. Pana much at the top of the key,
trying to drive on Baker. Instead, she takes the two
and it.
Speaker 2 (01:40:18):
Rolls on, shakes her hat on her way back down
the court.
Speaker 1 (01:40:23):
And says, Nope, not gonna miss that.
Speaker 3 (01:40:24):
Tonight sixty one fifty four Stout the early fourth quarter,
reaching foul off Amana much a little too aggressive.
Speaker 1 (01:40:34):
She knew it.
Speaker 3 (01:40:36):
Second foul on much flu Devils have Willie Lodermeyer with three,
but nobody else other than much insulancing with William two.
Speaker 1 (01:40:45):
And you've got Martin right now for Whitman with four fouls.
As Lumber drives in five by much, it goes out
of bounds, it'll.
Speaker 2 (01:40:53):
Stay with whipmen.
Speaker 3 (01:40:55):
Heck of a block from Anna much. The big head
is out in the student section of Anna Much Holy
cow there it is Shotlock is right. They'll say nineteen
to shoot, nine thirty two to go here in the
four Stout sixty one, Whipman fifty four, Blue Devils by seven.
(01:41:17):
Stout out scored Whipman twenty four to seventeen in that quarter.
Who's Baker at the elbow? Takes a two and it
rattles out and it's grabbed by Shaper on the rebound.
That is where you want Baker taking the shots, not
underneath right next to the hoof, but from a ways out.
Speaker 1 (01:41:31):
Shaper hands up to loder Meyer.
Speaker 3 (01:41:33):
Lodermeyer to the elbow, back out to Shaper on the
right wing, Shaper looking to post up much inside and
said they'll go to Burg between the circles, move it
to Lodermeyern the left wing. Fifteen to shoot. Loder Meyer
switches up top to Willie really looking she'll go back
to Lodermeyer on the left side.
Speaker 1 (01:41:47):
Loder Meyer hands up to much much had it poked
a wave stolen.
Speaker 3 (01:41:51):
It'll be stolen officially by Lundberg, but it was Morgan
who started at Lundberg. Then bounces to Baker. Easy lay
up the other way. Sixty one can be six out,
fifty three to go.
Speaker 1 (01:42:01):
Here in the fourth tough one.
Speaker 3 (01:42:03):
There you see women turning up the aggression a little bit,
and that's gonna bring Reagan Soarings back in this game
pretty quickly.
Speaker 1 (01:42:08):
And here's a much two point j from the top
of the key from.
Speaker 3 (01:42:13):
Seventeen to being sixty three fifty six stout and Anna
much take it over.
Speaker 1 (01:42:18):
She has now equaled her career high.
Speaker 3 (01:42:19):
That's the third time in her career she scored twenty
four points in the game, the last time against Oshkosh
the first game of the Yax season at the Golf
Sports Center back on January fourth. Here's Baker in the
right short corner with thirteen to shoot Morgan on on
the right wing. They switch it up to Lundberg. They're
trying to find more a baker in Cibon camp. Willie
is denying every pass inside. ANDRODDI gonna try to drive
(01:42:42):
and her foul called on.
Speaker 1 (01:42:43):
Much Anna Much to aggress it on the defense there.
I think she bumped her.
Speaker 3 (01:42:50):
Yeah, the bump is first, and then you see a
little bit of a hook from Andrade. But the bump
happened first for much Much has three files now and
they want to get her out of there so much
we'll check out for South five on the floor with
the three substitutions, here is Sorensen, Wagner, Loder, Myers, Shafer
and Geeson. He bounds for Whitman in the front court
from the baseline. Morgan in the right left short corner,
(01:43:11):
trying to find Lumberg inside. She catches, but Stout did
recovered Drango on on the left wing to Morgan. Now
they switched it across the Carlisle. She's open for a
three catch and shoot too Strong tipped out of there.
But last touch by Whitman, last touch by Morgan, and
it's Stout. Basketball sixty three fifty six. Michelle Farenz is asking,
(01:43:33):
I think for a review here, but not p officially
just wants the officials to go there, and she won't.
Speaker 1 (01:43:39):
They won't. Rather Stout by.
Speaker 3 (01:43:41):
Seven seven fifty one to go here in the floor,
the man de Geeson from the left wing back up
the Sorenson. Sorenson trying to drive to the hoop, cut
off by Drango, big contact. Gotta call something, She throws
it away. Something had to be called there, but nothing was.
His bodies crashed together. Lunberg out of Carlisle on the
right side. Carlile, a little hesitant to shoot that time,
goes with Drango the left short corner.
Speaker 1 (01:44:00):
Lundberg catches, dribbles, knock out to Carlisle another three good.
Speaker 3 (01:44:05):
The penetration in the kickout is how Carlisle louvest at
that green. She's got five million threes in the game
five and eleven with Stout sixty three, Whitman fifty nine
seven eighteen to go here in the fourth, Sorenson on
the high right up top to loder Meyer, left corner
to Geeson, Geson into the lane, goes up on the
right hand past Baker, goals bit sixty five fifty nine
(01:44:29):
stout seven oh three to go, Lundberg across the time line,
four whipmen Sorenson defense.
Speaker 1 (01:44:36):
Lumberg dribbles past her. She goes up with the right hand.
Speaker 3 (01:44:38):
It's short and Sorenson with the rebound on the help
side from from the Lodermeyer rather Sorenson across the timeline.
Wagner wanna catch it, shoot the other side. That is
too strong. Sorenson got pushed. Go call rebound Whitman. Whipman
the other way up to Carlile in transition, loses the basketball,
takes it two. It's too strong, and Geson has the
rebound tipped out of the mounds by Lundberg, and it
(01:44:59):
say a stout. Oh my goodness, what a sequence, What
a ball game?
Speaker 1 (01:45:08):
Six point thirty five to go. Here in the fourth,
Swords are gonna get rest, so is Lodermyer.
Speaker 3 (01:45:16):
He got much Willie, Wagner, Shafer and Gesen the pop
on the floor for stout. After those subs, here's Wagoner
floating to the left wings. You'll get it too much
Much gets a screen from Willie Much moving right on.
Drango gets past her, hangs hoops and heads off the window.
Speaker 2 (01:45:34):
Krago couldn't get in front of.
Speaker 3 (01:45:35):
Her sixty seven fifty nine. That is just strong basketball
from Adam.
Speaker 2 (01:45:40):
Much tie up, whitn't it? And listen to this crowd.
Speaker 1 (01:45:47):
And Michelle Brenz is losing it.
Speaker 3 (01:45:53):
It'll be a media time out six thirteen to go
stout sixty seven Whitman he me on.
Speaker 1 (01:46:00):

Welcome back in here to Johnson field House and UWS
South is the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Speaker 1 (01:47:15):
We have had an absolute swabber knocker drag Out.
Speaker 3 (01:47:21):
He give a fight here between South and Whipman at
night six thirteen to go at Stout sixty seven Whipman
fifty nine here from Johnson Fieldhouse. Whipman will have the
basketball out of the timeout and Lumberger bring it up.
And it is the starter who's out there minus Martin
for Whitmou at the moment it is Morgan in staid
it has the ball in the right wing. Drango given
go inside oh lot a catch from Baker past Wagner.
(01:47:44):
Stout looked like they had to steal there, but Baker
just reached over everybody grabbed the ball and went up
and got the bucket. Sixty seven sixty one Whipmen. Here's
Wagner on a handout to much much Backer. Wagner on
the left wing. Wagner, who's out to Shaper. Lumper got
a knee into her. They go inside to no call
there and now Lundberg with the steel up to Carlisle.
Carlisle trying to.
Speaker 2 (01:48:04):
Vote out for three.
Speaker 3 (01:48:05):
She takes, she misses, and Baker flies in for the
rebound back to Carlisle.
Speaker 1 (01:48:09):
Another three on the way, no.
Speaker 2 (01:48:11):
Dice this time.
Speaker 1 (01:48:12):
Reebout Much.
Speaker 3 (01:48:14):
Sixty seven sixty one, Stout five twenty eight to go.
Much brings it forward per Stout Anna Much. She's on
a career high to night with twenty six points. Rosella
Willie who's it left to Shaper. Shaper up top to
Geese and she's open to shoot that but doesn't take it.
Speaker 1 (01:48:29):
Wagner on the right wing.
Speaker 3 (01:48:31):
Wagner gets a screen from geeseon up that goes to Shaper.
She steps into a three. Why not that's miss though,
and Morgan gets the rebound. Not a good handle on
it there for Shaper. Lundberg has it because we took
under five minutes left it win in this game. Stout
sixty seven, Hittman sixty one. There's a catch and Willy
came down with that to jump ball. No Baker throws
it out over to Carlisle on the right wing. Great
(01:48:53):
job and great defense from Willy Lumberg, Lunberg trying to
They'll go out left side of Morgan.
Speaker 2 (01:49:01):
Sixty shoot.
Speaker 3 (01:49:02):
Morgan picks up the dribble, goes into Baker three to shoot, turnaround,
Jumper got it.
Speaker 1 (01:49:08):
Sixty three Stout with two seconds up on the shock clock.
What a plague.
Speaker 3 (01:49:12):
Here's a man of Geeson per Stout. Saut's got to
have a good offensive possession here. Geeson takes it, goes
to Willie and the right corn Willie for shaper up top.
You're letting Stout shoot the three right now if they
want it, except for Wagoner. Wagner not getting any space.
Wagner drives in toward the hoop. Her pass is deflected
and stilling away by Drango. Drango's got the stealing. Stout
(01:49:33):
up by four, but Whitman's got the ball with four
ten to go in a time, I'm taken. You're by
a Whitman. It's a thirty second time out, and I
believe it's gonna turn into the media timeout. The final
runs twelve four.
Speaker 12 (01:49:48):
Is it not? Now?
Speaker 1 (01:49:51):
We're gonna keep it here? Yeah, keep it here in
thirty seconds.
Speaker 3 (01:49:58):
It's thirty second time out, all right, four hs nine
to go, Stout sixty seven and Women's sixty three. Stout
sat down because I think they thought it was a
media timeout, but it's not. Stout has been scoreless the
last two minutes and twelve seconds of this game. Remember
the Blue Devils were up sixty seven to fifty nine
a few minutes ago, two minutes ago, in fact, with
a little run here for Whitman, making it a four
(01:50:19):
point contest fort nine to go. It's hard to think
about other scores right now, but I'll mention him anyway.
The fact that Oshkosh beat Bethel fifty ninety nine to nine.
They are moving on Whitewater and Lacrosse. It's a one
point Whitewater lead with one second left in that game.
You see who comes out on top there, and the
winner of this game plays a winner of that.
Speaker 1 (01:50:39):
Game because Woodman hasn't.
Speaker 3 (01:50:42):
You're out of the timeout. Morgan inbounds, Martin is back
in with her four pouns Martin from the wing. Martin
picks it up, goes back to Morgan. She's open for
a three catches, shoots it that's off the heel, though
it tips.
Speaker 2 (01:50:53):
Out of there.
Speaker 1 (01:50:53):
Somebody's got to get there. It's Morgan for Whitman.
Speaker 3 (01:50:55):
They'll get a new twenty to shoot under four to
gos stout by Kuval Drango on the left wing, finds
Martin up top along three no off the heel. That's
with the rebound. Oh a pound Paul on Whitman and
if ill.
Speaker 1 (01:51:10):
On Lundberg and then it will be the first on
Whipman of the quarter. So it is not a shooting
val yet.
Speaker 3 (01:51:16):
A lot to give here for women, so they could
be very aggressive because that's the third found calling on Lundberg.
I still have three more to give the four stouts
in the bonus five to go stout by four Reagan.
Sorenson brings it across the timeline and I'm not trying
to get open away from the ball. It's shaper out
a Willie in the corner, Willie up top to Sorenson.
(01:51:36):
Sorenson wants his drive on. Drango spins, get some help,
goes up and it charges.
Speaker 2 (01:51:40):
All on Sorenson.
Speaker 1 (01:51:42):
Lundberg just ran right into the space, got set just
in time. Here's the call.
Speaker 2 (01:51:48):
Look at that one.
Speaker 1 (01:51:49):
Oh she was moving, Oh she was moving, Holy cow.
Speaker 3 (01:51:53):
I think because she's five to one that helped her
in that case, but clearly was not set he just
kind of more getting too Sorenson. And that is a tough, tough,
gut top call, pretty qustions, tough one to go against South.
Here's Martin grabbing the ball on the right side. Martin
shuffle the peak, now moves it up back up top
the drangos. He wants to drive all the way to
the hoop of the left hand.
Speaker 2 (01:52:13):
Oh, he got the roll.
Speaker 3 (01:52:14):
Sixty seven sixty five South three hold nine to go.
Whipman on a six to zero run. Blue Devils need
an answer offensively right now. Sorenson to try to fight
through some screens.
Speaker 1 (01:52:26):
They got another truck, had a stout. Fans are gonna
lose it.
Speaker 2 (01:52:33):
That's a.
Speaker 1 (01:52:38):
Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy, oh boy.
Speaker 3 (01:52:46):
Sixty seven sixty five South two fifty eight to go.
Here's Lumberg for Whitman. It's been going on whipmen here
in the last few minutes. Lundberg on the left wing
hands out to Martin. Martin's trying to drive past Shaper.
She gets in there, gets it to Baker at the
left elbow. Baker's little's back out to Lumburg.
Speaker 1 (01:53:05):
Now left to Drango. Drango trying to dry him on Geese.
It back out. It comes kicked out in their Martin
will not touch.
Speaker 3 (01:53:12):
It is last touch by Shaper, goes three rows deep
as she goes to that ball.
Speaker 1 (01:53:16):
Look at the effort from a senior. Two thirty six
to go.
Speaker 3 (01:53:21):
It's Whitney ball on the sideline with nine to shoot
and Stout up by two. Whittman is hit seven of
twenty threes in this game. Stouts at six of eighteen.
Wager're gonna check out for a few moments. Here is
Harry Berg's gonna check back in for We got really
in there as well at the moment his swords on
the bench with those four braws.
Speaker 1 (01:53:43):
Here's Borgan. Morgan floating out.
Speaker 3 (01:53:45):
Got adda much in the air, took a wild shot,
missed it and Geeseon got the rebound. I'm not sure
why she took the shot from that far out. Adam
Much gonna be guarded by Lumberg. Here Lumberg all up
in her business and she gets it across the timeline.
Nineteen to go. It's out by two. Shaper to Geeson
on the left wing. Geeson up top to Willie Willy
(01:54:08):
to Geeson. Geeson in toward the lane, picks up the dribble, bounces.
Speaker 2 (01:54:11):
To Willie reverse up. Oh, it didn't go trango at
the rebound.
Speaker 3 (01:54:16):
Oh, a perfect play and she just didn't finish it.
Lumberg across the timeline guard of bin Berg.
Speaker 1 (01:54:22):
They get into Baker.
Speaker 3 (01:54:23):
Baker trying to all let the pass from the right
elbow hands off the three throw line of Morgan.
Speaker 1 (01:54:26):
Morgan thought about the shot. Now she's gonna drive in
on Much. She goes up.
Speaker 3 (01:54:30):
It goes sixty seven all one, five to go eight
Oh runs from Whitman.
Speaker 1 (01:54:37):
See if Man iris and takes the time out.
Speaker 3 (01:54:39):
Of Adam Much between the circles nineteen to shoot, there's
the whopmen fans yelling defense, what an environment shaper over
and Much on the right side.
Speaker 1 (01:54:52):
Much dribbles into the pre throw.
Speaker 2 (01:54:53):
Line, reaching fall on Baker.
Speaker 1 (01:54:58):
And her bullet thinks. So Martin and Baker each with four,
which is.
Speaker 3 (01:55:01):
Important, especially if this game goes over time. You've got
Wagner and Sorrens and checking back in. So it is
the starter's back out for the Blue Doubles, and I
can't imagine they're coming out at this point, unless, of course,
Sorenson were to foule out at this point.
Speaker 1 (01:55:16):
But that's the worst case scenario for shout. Now Sorenson only.
Speaker 3 (01:55:20):
Has eight points that I am much has twenty six
Wagner fifteen des and twenty six nice Cats Randa Much.
Speaker 2 (01:55:25):
He goes up, She's fout. The Drago comes Quabo her Port.
Speaker 3 (01:55:38):
Stout sixty nine, Whitman sixty seven. Is Anna Much takes contact,
finishes through on the inbound and scores the hoop and
che's to the line for the free throw. Twenty eight
points random much your career high free throw on the way,
(01:56:01):
it's good.
Speaker 1 (01:56:03):
Seven and sixty seven.
Speaker 3 (01:56:04):
Stout three to go a three point lead for the
Blue Doubles. Here's why everybody's on air paint. Martin's gonna
drive on Sorens into the hoop.
Speaker 2 (01:56:14):
Pops the right hand, it rolls out. They fight for
the rebound.
Speaker 1 (01:56:17):
I think they got Sorens and for a rebounding poles.
She's out. That's her fip.
Speaker 3 (01:56:25):
And Reagan Sorenson has fouled out of this game. The
All American here for the Blue Devils and Rosella Reilly.
It is going to be the one to check in for.
Think kat Iverson's asking, can you go to the monitor
to see if it's on somebody else, but I don't
think the officials are going to entertain that, and it
(01:56:46):
is on Sorensen. All look pretty clear, and if all
the fouls called on her to night, that might be
the clearest of the five. Unfortunately, throwing a rebound attempt
to get there, and when you got Baker's long witness
man in there, it's just.
Speaker 1 (01:56:57):
So hard not to file if you're just I put
seven like Reagan sons to this.
Speaker 3 (01:57:02):
So Swarns is done. She finishes this game and out
with eight points and five rebounds. As a Stout student
sections makes some noise. Now that is the fifth foul
on Stout of the porter. So that puts Baker at
the line to shoot free throws.
Speaker 1 (01:57:22):
Everything is good.
Speaker 3 (01:57:23):
They got Morgan to check in here as well as
the substitute for Carlisle.
Speaker 1 (01:57:28):
So Baker at the line again.
Speaker 3 (01:57:30):
The blue doubles, hence the blues and not either one
who's mister freethrow tonight, Baker.
Speaker 1 (01:57:37):
Poor and pull at the.
Speaker 25 (01:57:38):
Three throw line as the students make some.
Speaker 3 (01:57:39):
Noise, and that rattles in seventy to sixty eight bout
of us one eleven to go. You gotta have that
balance of impression, but also burning a little bit of
clock if you're Stout after this free throw, regardless of
whether it's made or not. Baker makes the second and
gets them both seventy to sixty nine. Stout Wagner are
(01:58:01):
gonna bring it up here for the Bluto US the
market defense nice moved by Wagner to get across the timeline.
Here's what's on the left wing. Stout by one, seventy
to sixty nine. We are under one minute left in
the second round in sat Or mckabe. Wagner at the
top caught caught about a three. Instead, it's geeseon from
the right wing.
Speaker 1 (01:58:19):
Deeseon with the.
Speaker 3 (01:58:20):
Loving to shoot Now, Ana Much hasn't. Anna Much looks
toward the hoop. Seven seconds left to shoot. Anima says clear.
Speaker 1 (01:58:26):
Out, I want to go.
Speaker 2 (01:58:27):
She will go. She's fouled and she'll.
Speaker 3 (01:58:29):
Head to the line as Morgan powser. Anna Much just
determined to make this not her last game. It'll Stout uniform.
Five senior starters on each of these teams. They are
gonna fight to the nail to make sure they're playing
next week at holdly Cow. This is I mean, this
(01:58:50):
is why you watch the incat or this kind of
stuff right here. I hope you've enjoyed it, because it
has been absolutely picture perfect.
Speaker 1 (01:58:58):
Never change NCAA tournament. Change a free throw goal seventy
one sixty nine stop.
Speaker 3 (01:59:03):
Forty three point one to go and a much with
that free throw now up to thirty points of this game.
Speaker 1 (01:59:09):
That is a career high for her. And one more
good seventy two sixty nine's down timeout winning, They'll have
one romating Stout's got three left, but it's not a
(01:59:32):
media timeout.
Speaker 3 (01:59:33):
It's just the thirty second time out, so we'll keep
it here and one more check in Across.
Speaker 1 (01:59:42):
The NCAA.
Speaker 3 (01:59:43):
Looks like Illinois Wesleyan has a twenty two point lead
on Shrine.
Speaker 1 (01:59:49):
At the end of the third.
Speaker 3 (01:59:50):
Quarter, Oshkosh has beaten Bethel oshcotsh will play the winner
of that Illinois Wesleyan versus Prime game. Ohio Wesleyan and
Bolton Wallace have also move Don Scranton John Hopkins will
play the winner of Whitewater.
Speaker 1 (02:00:05):
Versus whoever comes out of this one.
Speaker 2 (02:00:07):
In the ranging.
Speaker 3 (02:00:13):
On the top side of the bracket, it's NYU versus
soon a Genniso next week. Randam Megan versus Gettysburg, boding
on the left side against Smith and Texas Luther and
trailing McMurray by five with two minutes left. Miss Davis
up by one on Warkburg with five minutes left in
there again ready to go here for the last forty
three seconds of this one, Stout by three. Imbounds will
(02:00:35):
come in to Drango off to Lundberg. Martin goes to
Baker at the elbow. Baker turns and looks Baker looking.
They're trying to get Carlile open.
Speaker 2 (02:00:44):
She's not.
Speaker 3 (02:00:45):
Baker holds it, hands off to Lumberg, her hand off
to Martin, back into Baker in the in the lane,
Baker double teamed out to Lundberg again, back to Carlisle
on three for the tie.
Speaker 2 (02:00:54):
No, and it's readout it by way here for Stout.
They got a fall. I'm nerd Jenner, I'm taking off.
And now geeseon is fou.
Speaker 3 (02:01:04):
By Paula fifteen point five to goal stop by three?
Speaker 2 (02:01:12):
Can you believe it?
Speaker 1 (02:01:16):
Amanda geeseen to the free throw line. The bowl was
on Carlisle. Her second.
Speaker 3 (02:01:32):
Two free throws for Amanda geeseon first one's good and
that's a two possession game. Stout's got three timeouts left,
one time out left for Whitman, so they can take
one more in advance the ball here regardless of what
happens on this free throw, if they get the rebound
or if it's a maid.
Speaker 1 (02:01:52):
Or Zella Willie the only rebounder in there. For Stout
as seventy four sixty nine, Blue Devil, I'm out with him.
Speaker 3 (02:02:04):
Listen to the menomine crown, Yes, seventy four sixty nine
Stout fifteen point.
Speaker 1 (02:02:22):
Five to go with it is out of timeouts.
Speaker 3 (02:02:27):
If the vau Devils can figure on the way to
finish this game, they would end to Scranton and all
the way next week to take on a team they've
already played three times this season of U Whewater they'd
meet twice already the Lost Room in the Yak Tournament
in the semi final right here at Johnson Fieldhouse. The
(02:02:56):
Stouts during section make of their voices are fifteen point
five to go, Whitman will have them all and lumberd
to inbound. It's south seventy four Whitman's sixty nine. Can
you believe this man's just sit down here? For the
(02:03:16):
Blue Devils, there's the final horn. Waiting for that final horn,
I think somebody forgot to hit it here Lumbird inbound
hits it into Baker. Baker join the hand off thirteen
seconds left. Martin's got to take it.
Speaker 1 (02:03:29):
Three, grows up a wild shot and hits the top
of the backboard.
Speaker 2 (02:03:32):
Wagner spies and gets in a found call with seven.
Speaker 3 (02:03:35):
Point five and go on Whitman, so that line will go.
Wagner the best shooter. I'm the best pre prow shooter
on this Blue Devil team. Wagner goes to the line
(02:04:05):
with stout up seventy four to sixty nine and seven
point five to go here in the contests, first three
throw good, second one is miss.
Speaker 2 (02:04:32):
Wagner gets the red on ok Rellie with four.
Speaker 4 (02:04:34):
With three, they're looking at four.
Speaker 2 (02:04:36):
The Blues Ahead got a fleet sixteen. In the biggest
episode of the.
Speaker 3 (02:04:44):
Twenty twenty five Division three women's basketball tournament so far,
one of the best games you'll see all tournament in

(02:05:05):
as well be a top five matchup for all I'm concerned.

blue albums figure out how way to win? It's seventy
five to sixty nine over Whitmen, You feel for women,
You feel for the seniors again, they felt like they
(02:05:25):
should have been hosting this weekend. And it's tough to
come all the way here and for this to go
down the way it has. But man, alive, what a
sequence yere tonight? Well I talked, Well, that's.

basically has to happened before they can start that. So
we hope that it starts in the next eight minutes
or so, as the Blue Devils team is going to
go in there and all the sports information folks are
going to get the press conference set up. So I'll
tell you what, Dan Price, Let's take two minutes. I
need to like shug this bottle.
Speaker 1 (02:07:28):

much more.
Speaker 3 (02:07:49):
That's all coming up right after this right here on

Now back to UW Stout Women's basketball and the NCCH
Tournament here on News Talk WM EQ. It is indeed
the NCAA Tournament, and it's one of the last games.
Speaker 1 (02:10:07):
Of the night. But oh my goodness, can you believe it?
Speaker 3 (02:10:11):
How sweet it is as the Blue Doubles make the
Sweet sixteen for the second straight year, and they also
make it for the fourth time in program history as
they win tonight. I'm getting the left hanging here by
some of the fans who are going for fizz pumps
and high fives as Stout win seventy five to sixty
nine here tonight against Whitman again. Peeknots and with the
(02:10:33):
Damn Prices are incomparable producer of back in the Studio
here on Newstalk Wmqama Ayman Nominee translated.
Speaker 1 (02:10:39):
W two nine two EG one O six point three
FMO player and iHeartRadio Station.
Speaker 3 (02:10:43):
We're going to go through the final stats turn the
moment we are awaiting the postgame press conference, there is
a ten minute cooling off period that is part of
the NCAA rules, and so we cannot have Hannah Iverson
or any of the players until that ten minutes is over.
Probably just get Jim Lake, the men's basketball coach, over
here to.
Speaker 1 (02:11:00):
Show with him, but to go through it.
Speaker 2 (02:11:04):
With them.
Speaker 1 (02:11:05):
So I'm taking me a signal, but I don't think
we'll get them.
Speaker 3 (02:11:07):
Nonetheless, the Blue Devils with the wins seventy five to
sixty nine. Remember they did not lead in this game
since until little ways into the third quarter. In this contest,
the last lead for Whitman was at forty seven forty
six with four fifty seven to go, and after that
(02:11:28):
point the Blue Devils took over. They only led for
thirty seven point six percent of this contest here tonight,
which is pretty amazing with the way things happened. So
that is how this goes down. Whipmen led the entire
first half. They were up by ten two different times.
Apps Down went on a run at the end of
the second quarter the end of the first half and
eight to ozho run that got it to within two
(02:11:49):
and then they would eventually take the lead after fighting
from scratching and clawing. And there's a number of keys
to the game that we can certainly talk about. Folks
who are in the media room. We'll ask some of
those questions as well. It's the only bad part about
the setup is I can't ask questions from all the
way here in the gym to the classers do it. Nonetheless,
we will tap into that when we get it. We've
(02:12:11):
got the live stream ready to go, so we can
tap into that audio hopefully all working well once we
get to it.
Speaker 12 (02:12:17):
I am.
Speaker 3 (02:12:17):
We are gonna get on after the ten minute cooling
off period as well to chat with us, and so
we'll try to do that too. One second, here, save
a chair. We're gonna save a chair for that person
as well, and we'll get that over here in just
a moment so we can get that set up.
Speaker 1 (02:12:38):
You know, we're kind of doing this.
Speaker 3 (02:12:39):
A little bit on the fly, so we're gonna we're
gonna make it happen here tonight. Nonetheless, all right, let's
give you the final stats of this game. Appreciate it, guys,
as we'll have somebody on with us here in just
a moment. But the final score seventy five sixty nine Stout.
They move on to take on guess who u W
Whitewater in the Sweet sixteen. Now, Stout went to Whitewater
(02:13:00):
last year as part of the Sweet sixteen pod that
was in Whitewater, but they didn't match up. It was
the Elite Eight that they win and matched up in
South of course, losing to the number two ranked team
in the country in Transylvania by five points in the
Sweet sixteen and unable to advance, and Whitewater did advance,
but then they lost to Transylvania in the Elite Eight
before getting to the Final four, before Transylvania got to
the Final four there as well, So that is.
Speaker 1 (02:13:22):
How things shakeout.
Speaker 3 (02:13:23):
Stout will likely be on a plane next week to
go to Scranton and take on Whitewater first and then
if they can get there, who knows who they'll be playing,
either Johns Hopkins or Scranton. And you got some of
the smart schools in side of the bracket certainly as well,
but nonetheless that is where it is. A right Let's
look at the final stats from this game, as the
(02:13:45):
Blue Devils shoot twenty three of forty seven from the field,
six of eighteen from beyond the arc, twenty three of
twenty four at the line. That free throw that Wagner
missed at the end of the game was the first
time that still missed the free throw, and I did
my darnedest not to jinx him and talk about it
too much. I think, point I said, both teams haven't
missed a free throw yet they go twenty three of
twenty four at the line, which is just ridanculous. And
(02:14:06):
yes that is a actual term as well, So that
was pretty spectacular there as they go that way. For Whitman,
they shoot forty four seven of sixty one from the field,
seven of twenty two from beyond.
Speaker 1 (02:14:20):
The arc, eight of eight at the line.
Speaker 3 (02:14:23):
Let's go individually here, Anna much with a career high
of thirty one points tonight, two of two from beyond
the arc, nine of nine at the free throw line.
She gets herself a double double with twelve rebounds as well.
I'll just take a quick look at the overall score sheet.
She is approaching Kelsey Duas for the fourth most points
in Stout history. I'm just gonna try to do a
(02:14:44):
quick little bit of math here on air, which I
don't think Jake Booster would be terribly happy with me doing.
But Anna Much yesterday with eight points and with thirty
one a night, so let's make that thirty nine points
for her this weekend, and that puts her now up
to two points short of Kelsey Duos for fourth on
the all time list, So I would not be shocked
if she gets over that mark in wherever South goes
(02:15:07):
next week as well. Here are some cheering and that
is the Blue Devils who are coming out there. So
let's say if we can get a player on, we
will take a look. That the livestream has not started
for that as of yet for the press conference, and
so I asked if they'd send somebody over to chat
with me, and they may still. We'll see you because
(02:15:30):
we are still on the air if we can get
somebody to come over. And I guess is Anna Much
and probably Lexi Wagner are in are in the press conference,
and so we'll try to get and flag down potentially
Reagan Sorenson is she is there as well, and I'll
try to get a hold of her. And I'm not
sure Brent's gonna see me. Her uncle who is right
there as well, that we are past the ten minute period,
(02:15:53):
so we can definitely get somebody on the air here
as of fur as the NCAA rules go. And so
I think I just got to rob our our PA
announcer to see if Reagan swords and could come over
and chat with us just a little bit on the
radio broadcast here tonight. And yeah, it's gonna be fun.
(02:16:17):
It's gonna be great, as we'll get Reagan Sorenson on
and chat with her as well. So Reagan doesn't know
that we're still going we're still going hard here on
the radio side, So why didn't you pop that headset on?
And I'm sure that Anna and Lexi're hanging out with
the press conference, which will go to your live in
a second. But Reagan, great for you to join us here.
We're doing kind of an elongated postgame show on the
(02:16:39):
radio side. So let's talk a little bit about this game.
You guys didn't lead in this game until about the
five minute mark of the third quarter. What kept the
belief for you guys going? Because I mean, you're playing
the fifth best team in the country over there and
they're leading all that way. That led by ten at
one point in that first half to two different times.
Speaker 1 (02:16:56):
What kept you going?
Speaker 27 (02:16:58):
It was really I mean I got on defense a
little bit with their six amazing.
Speaker 1 (02:17:04):
They say success.
Speaker 27 (02:17:06):
She is with long arms, but once we kind of
figured out how to deal with her and lock on
her on their shooters, we can figure out that that'll
lead to our offense. And then it slowly did it
one by one.
Speaker 3 (02:17:20):
It was certainly impressive. I know, not as many points
as you'd like tonight. It was a struggle for you
sometimes inside, but you really relying on your other teammates.
Anda goes for thirty one tonight. Yeah, pretty impressive form.
That's a career high for her. She seemed determined. Was
it kind of a like, hey, seniors aren't going to
give up on this type of thing.
Speaker 27 (02:17:36):
Yeah, I mean that, But we all have each other's back,
Like LEXI will have a game, Anna will have a game.
Man I will have a game. Everyone can have their
own game, and as long as you win as a team,
that's what matters.
Speaker 1 (02:17:48):
It is certainly that's pretty awesome. It matters. Well, I'll
let you go.
Speaker 3 (02:17:50):
Hey, I know you got a lot of family here,
so I appreciate taking some time. Well, maybe I'll see
you next week. I'm I don't know if I'm going yet.
I didn't want to jinx and now I gotta, I gotta, Now,
I gotta buy a plane ticket.
Speaker 1 (02:18:00):
All right, So here we go. Let's turn it over now.
Speaker 3 (02:18:03):
I do believe we have the press conference rolling here
from elsewhere in the house and there it is annoying.
Speaker 19 (02:18:13):
Some of that, and obviously daft and intice in this pocket.
Speaker 25 (02:18:19):
The big thing is, we've known what this team has.
Speaker 1 (02:18:22):
For a long time. This is Hannah Iverson's with the press.
Speaker 25 (02:18:26):
We got to show a lot of people what we had.
We got to put it on display. We got to
show the nation.
Speaker 6 (02:18:31):
We got to play in the tournament that everybody dreams about,
the reason you play college athletics.
Speaker 25 (02:18:35):
We got to do that song and dance.
Speaker 6 (02:18:37):
But the nice thing about coming back and having girls
who run it back for a year and put everything
they have into a program is we had a chance
to do it again. And the road's never easy. It's
not easy for anybody, and you don't want it to
be easy. But there was definitely bumps in the road,
and every every story is going to have them. And
I think what this team has done is what's that
(02:18:59):
we learned from the city we had last time. We've
taken things from it, we've grown from it. And I
think the thing that we've been able to do in.
Speaker 25 (02:19:06):
This last part of it is just really get back
to who we are. Like I'm not gonna lie to you.
Speaker 6 (02:19:10):
The whole second half of this game, we said forget
about whitmen. We didn't care what play they called, we
didn't care what they ran or what they did. We
decided to win or die on us and not a
bed and Lady. But if I was, I'd put my
money down on us every single time. And I think
that it's because of kids like these two right here.
(02:19:30):
I mean and as a kid who changes the energy
in a room at the snap of a finger. And
the cool thing about having the best seat of the
house and watching these guys do what they do is
we watch her do that every day in practice, Like
we watch her turn it on and just everybody falls
in line and the world runs like it is a
(02:19:52):
scary thing when she gets going like that. And then
you've got people like Amanda where you're trying to guard
her a certain way, and it's like she can shoot,
she can attack, she can score on a block it's
it's tough. We're a tough matchup, and I think for us,
it's really really fun to do what we do and
how we do it. And I think that was what
was really cool about this game was that's a top
level team, that's a team that can go anywhere in
(02:20:14):
Whitmen and they are phenomenal. And to have us put
a put together a product like this and just feel
the energy and the effort coming from our fans and
everything in between was just really special.
Speaker 5 (02:20:23):
To be a part of them something we're really proud of.
Speaker 28 (02:20:26):
Can I ask Danna about that energy? So about nine
seconds less is the third quarter, you're going to the
line for second file shot, I believe, and that's usually
a time where people are trying to you know, call themselves,
collect themselves, lower that part rate before you take that shot,
and you are just shouting something like something about the
defense coming back down on the other end of the floor.
(02:20:47):
But I was hoping you could tell you a little
bit about that.
Speaker 12 (02:20:49):
Yeah, I mean, I think I've known that I can
be the pulse for this team, and you know, in
these games like this, I think that's when I'm my best.
So you know, I think just keeping my.
Speaker 27 (02:21:00):
But it's always on.
Speaker 12 (02:21:00):
You know, we talked about that a lot and steam
whatever my team is.
Speaker 4 (02:21:04):
I think that helps us so much too, just seeing
the energy that she carries, like it's really hard not
to follow that, like it's so contagious and it makes
us want to do that same thing. And yeah, feed
out of the ball, and how does.
Speaker 28 (02:21:16):
That does that help even with you don't have I
don't know if they're teen hundred fans or something providing
that extra energy behind you.
Speaker 12 (02:21:24):
Yeah, I think you know, it can come from a
place of super competitiveness, and I think you know, any
given moment, it can be anybody on our roster. We're
full of talent, full of confidence, full of competitiveness. So yeah,
I think I just happened to be that's it.
Speaker 4 (02:21:35):
I think also if you've seen any of our games,
I mean our bench, like, yeah, it is so hard
not to have energy when everyone on our team one
through sixteen is acting like that, Like that's just a
contagious feeling and that makes anyone want to be a
part of our team.
Speaker 19 (02:21:48):
And Amanda, you made for your final five shots of
the second quarter, part of that eight oh run. That
job took and cut that we're going to be need
too and a half talk about maybe the role in
that run the end the second quarter played in terms
of the way y'all came out in the second half
where you shoot felt the twenty from the field.
Speaker 1 (02:22:06):
Just sea all the momentum through the spouts and quarters.
Speaker 4 (02:22:08):
I think, like Anna just said, I mean like I
can't imagine trying to guard us just because we have
so many like offensive weapons on our team. So I mean,
at any given moment, it can be anyone, and sometimes
we just know that it has to be us in
any given moment, and it just helps the team and
it'll come out at half and know that we're still
in this and it's our game.
Speaker 19 (02:22:27):
And Jag, you're perspective on that year run two, because
it seemed like the first quarter y'all struggled with Bit, struggled.
Speaker 1 (02:22:32):
With at Maker in the post.
Speaker 19 (02:22:34):
But the things seemed to shift as you guys supported
that final two. It's the second quarter, and it seemed
to continue through the intermission into that third, which was
pretty much of the second game.
Speaker 1 (02:22:45):
It felt like a little bit little second. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (02:22:48):
I think the thing that these girls were able to
do is just keep their head. I mean, it never
felt out of control. It never felt like they were
taking the game from us. It felt like we had
it and you're trying to get it. And that's the
and I think just having the experience, and you can
call it whatever it is, the age, the wisdom, the intelligence,
the whatever, like those are all just words and telegames
(02:23:10):
on a line like that, and I think what we
got to see was high level players making high level plays.
I think maybe my favorite play of the game was
Lexi's miss free throw and to end it with just
a frickin period, like you go, get an O board
on the close the game, Like that is what Stottwom's
(02:23:30):
basketball is about. Like that is what we built this program.
I think a ton of what we're doing here is
setting the tone for the people to come. And what's
really really special is it's not always what you take
from a program, it's what you leave behind. And that's
what these guys are leaving behind. Like we're not done
with them yet, so don't get anything twisted there, but
(02:23:53):
when they leave, they have set the tone for a
level of competitiveness that people don't want to play against.
They've set the tone for a level of physicality that
is looked at and evaluated and having to guard a
thousand different ways. What they leave behind is people loving
people and people playing for each other. That's why it
doesn't matter who's that Pulse kid on any difven day
or who's hitting on that eight oh run. It just
(02:24:15):
matters that it's happening with somebody in this Jersey. Like,
that's what's special about this place. And I think that
is it's not just these two. It is a ghosts
of the past. It is a ton of people that
have put blood, sweat and tears into this program. But
that's what this place is about. And that's what's so
special about how we do it. And I think, speaking
of those fans, that's why we're fun to watch, Like,
that's why we're fun to get behind, because it's kids
(02:24:37):
doing it the right way. It's not just one kid
going and putting on a show. It's a collective effort
of sixteen individuals surrounded by a whole bigger circle that
are supporting us and yelling for us.
Speaker 25 (02:24:48):
And it's just really fun to get behind.
Speaker 6 (02:24:50):
And these guys just leave it all on the floor,
and I think it just makes people see their heart
and their effort and their intensity and it just you
want to be a fan, and I think just a
really special thing that not everywhere, and then something we're
going to hold on to as long as we can.
Speaker 12 (02:25:03):
So you know, I just.
Speaker 1 (02:25:09):
How that to have a sustandpoint.
Speaker 19 (02:25:12):
You know, it seemed like whatever, maybe.
Speaker 6 (02:25:18):
The challenge especially, yeah, I mean kudos to that. I mean,
Baker's a handful man. She I mean we let her
have her average in the first half, so she went
to work on us.
Speaker 1 (02:25:32):
And that is.
Speaker 6 (02:25:46):
Make an adjustment sooner and do the little things better longer.
Like that's the recipe right there. And I think we
were able to see what they were doing and you're
going to try to win it with one kid, Okay,
we get it.
Speaker 4 (02:25:58):
You know.
Speaker 6 (02:25:58):
And and they had other kids step up and make shots.
I mean three knocked on some huge threes for them,
and they got kids making plays. But we did a
phenomenal job of adjusting to what was working for them.
Maybe not overly quick. And she's still got some buckets.
But we know our story too. We I mean, i'd
probably say it once a shoot around, we're undersized, get
over it, Like that's our message. I guess, not changing
(02:26:19):
We're just figuring out how to work with what we got.
And again it goes back to what we build this
program on, which Hannah spoke on, is confidence and competitiveness
and the willingness to do whatever it takes to do what.
Speaker 2 (02:26:30):
We want to do.
Speaker 27 (02:26:32):
That's good for me.
Speaker 5 (02:26:33):
I'll do beautiful.
Speaker 2 (02:26:35):
Thank you guys.
Speaker 1 (02:26:39):
All right, so there you have it.
Speaker 3 (02:26:40):

Tournament here on News Talk w mEq. We're back once
again here at Johnson Field House, and look at this.
We get a special guest running in from the press conference,
So we just heard from we were tuning into it here.
Speaker 1 (02:28:31):
From the gym.
Speaker 3 (02:28:32):
But Anna much setting a career high thirty one points
in all win against women's seventy five sixty nine to night.
Speaker 1 (02:28:38):
You're shaking your heck. Can you not believe it? I
don't know what's up.
Speaker 12 (02:28:41):
Oh my god, I'm just like overwhelmed with gratitude and
fuck I love stout basketball.
Speaker 18 (02:28:47):
That's what I think right now.
Speaker 1 (02:28:48):
Yeah, it's pretty impressive. And let's talk a little bit
about the game.
Speaker 3 (02:28:52):
I mean, you guys are down up until about what
the five minute mark of the third quarter, somewhere in there,
down by ten two different times at in the first half.
So what ends up happening to kind of drive you guys,
especially that run you went on at the end of
the second quarter which kind of got you back with
and hey, let not say believing distance because you always believe,
but back within kind of you know, a possession.
Speaker 12 (02:29:12):
Yeah, you know, I think something that we talked a
lot about this week was keeping our light switch on right,
So having their rational confidence no matter what's going right,
what's going wrong, believing we always have a shot, and
you know, basketball is a funny game. The momentum can
shift just like that, and you know, I think once
it did, we capitalize on it and roll that way
of the entire time. And yeah, I think also it
(02:29:34):
was super important is just keeping a levelhead. You know,
at the first half, we were kind of I think
loose with our emotions, and I think once we realized,
you know what kind of game this is going to be,
We're fine. You know, take a deep breath. We're the
best team in the nation. You gotta believe it.
Speaker 3 (02:29:46):
Yeah, all right, Well, no, I mean I think one
of the things that was going on was you getting
to the hoop, especially in the fourth quarter, getting to
the free throw line. Twenty three to twenty fourth from
the free throw line, I can't remember that happening.
Speaker 1 (02:29:58):
Yeah here before.
Speaker 3 (02:29:59):
The only one that just missed was the last one there, Yeah,
from Lexi, but nothing. You got the rebound two, so
it didn't matter. But nonetheless, I mean, you go and
you get all those free throws, you get all that
kind of stuff. Was that the determination was getting downhill
because sure you made some perimeter shots, but yeah, man,
there were points where you just took over and Reagan
was in foul trouble or when somebody was on the bench.
Speaker 12 (02:30:18):
Yeah, you know, honestly, I don't know what took over me.
I think you know, I did not want to lose,
and I'm just such a competitor and I'm proud to
say that. And you know, we might be under sized,
it might be this, might be that, but I think
we have the biggest heart in the nation.
Speaker 5 (02:30:30):
So you know, gotta do what you gotta do.
Speaker 3 (02:30:33):
You did it, and I know you guys don't try
to look too far ahead. But this is let's see,
this would be Rocky versus Dolph Lundgren and Rocky four
because you're taking on white Water for a fourth time. Oh,
let's go next week. I mean in likely in Scranton.
I think that's what everybody's saying. So it'll be a
little ways away from home. But man, you guys played
some knockdown, drag outs up game in the YAC Tournament.
(02:30:55):
You beat them by a lot the game before that,
and then a really tough one in Whitewater. But that's
a heck with team over there, and you got a
player that could very easily should be an All American
and Casey Krough tough game is.
Speaker 12 (02:31:07):
Absolutely Yeah, you know ya, teams don't matter who you play,
it's gonna be a good game. So you know, I'm
really excited to get wherever we play and play them.
Speaker 1 (02:31:14):
All Right, you're just excited for a plane ride, aren't you.
Speaker 18 (02:31:16):
I'm excited to play basketball.
Speaker 12 (02:31:18):
I'm excited to play basketball.
Speaker 3 (02:31:19):
I mean that is the point, right, Like you guys
are we talked about lexia. I know you're the same way,
but just gym rats, right, like you guys just love
to be in the gym, don't.
Speaker 1 (02:31:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 12 (02:31:26):
I think you know when you get to play basketball
with your best friends and you know, your greatest mentors
of life, like it just makes me super grateful, especially
in moments of like this, like life cannot get any better.
Speaker 1 (02:31:38):
Yeah, well, don't make it one more, make it four more?
Yeah Yah, that's the play. That's the play. All right,
all right, appreciate you taking spot. Appreciate you, Pete.
Speaker 3 (02:31:44):
All right, animus joining us here on the post game
show as the Blue Doubles win seventy five to sixty
nine over Whitman. All right, the stats are all on
South Blue Devils dot com, NCA dot com. You can
check all that out as you want. To get animal
sink a career high with thirty one points. Let's run
down the Sweet sixteen. Next week, Stout and Whitewater and
Johns Hopkins will be at Scranton. Again, that's not official,
(02:32:04):
but a ninety nine point nine percent chance that that
is where it will be. So in Scranton, Pennsylvania for that.
So I'll start looking for flights from Minneapolis to Philly,
I suppose, and then a little bit of a drive
there to Scranton. But that will be the bottom right
quadrant pond. The bottom left quadrant will be Baldon Wallace
versus Ohio Wesleyan and Oshkosh versus Illinois Wesleyan. And I'm
(02:32:27):
not sure where that one will head, but we'll find
all that out later. Bowden Smith, McMurray, and guess Davis
Adolphus with win over Warburg will be in the top
left quadrant. Boden will likely be the host there unless
there's some geography issues or that kind of thing. I
believe Illinois Wesleyan will host Oshkosh, Ohio Wesleyan, Baldon Wallace.
It might be Baldwen Wallace now as I say that,
(02:32:48):
but don't quote me on that because of geography issues,
and then the top right quadrant, NYU will likely host
Sunny Genneseseo Randoff making a Gettysburg. The problem is is
that next week and the men have preference, and I
didn't see if NYUSE men's team one, but if NYUSE
men's team wins, they'll host. It means NYU's got to
go on the road in women's basketball, so there's a
(02:33:10):
little bit of a discrepancy there.
Speaker 1 (02:33:11):
We'll see how it all works.
Speaker 3 (02:33:12):
NCAA dot Com go to Division three women's basketball, find
the bracket, and you can find out what's going on.
Speaker 1 (02:33:17):
But what we do know is it Stout.
Speaker 3 (02:33:18):
Versus Whitewater Sweet sixteen next week and likely from Scranton, Pennsylvania,
And we certainly ope, but I think we'll have the
call for you in one way or another.
Speaker 1 (02:33:27):
We'll hope that it's live from Scranton.
Speaker 3 (02:33:29):
If not, we'll do it from a room somewhere here
in Menominee and pipe it as much noise as we
can and see what ends up happening for the Blue
Devils on their way or let's say, try to get
to their first Elite eight and team history, they've been
to the Sweet sixteen including today four times now in
program history, but win a win coming up against Whitewater
would get them to the Elite eight for the first
(02:33:49):
time in team history as well, so we'll see if
that all works out. Hey Dan, it was great, a
lot of fun. Hey night, Thanks for hanging along with
this post game show. But it's been a lot of
fun to bring it to you, certainly here tonight, and
we will hope to be on the air next week.
We plan to again don't know the game times. In
all likelihood, Stout will be the early game. That's Eastern time,
so I'd assume it's going to be kind of late
afternoon in that range.
Speaker 1 (02:34:10):
But you'll have to go to Style Blue Doeviles dot
com to find it all right.
Speaker 3 (02:34:13):
Special thanks to Casey Parrotts, all the folks who made
things happen here to what Hannah i Verson, Reagan Sorenson,
anam much Amanda Geeson for joining us throughout the entire broadcast.
It's been certainly a lot of fun to bring it
to you. Hopefully you've enjoyed it as well. Your final
score here in the second round of the NCAA Tournament,
it's the Sweet sixteen bound UW Stout Blue Devils seventy five,
(02:34:35):
