Speaker 1 (00:00):
Team maybe the most.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
Yeah, you know, I just got was chatting with Canon Grinder,
one of our former dbacks this morning, and you know,
we got a lot of talented players, but they're just
in experience, you know, when you lose twenty five seniors
and twenty five good ones that played contributed quite a bit.
Those the next guys in line didn't get a lot
of reps, so there's only a really special teams reps,
so you're kind of going through some growing pains with

(00:24):
some first time guys are actually seeing considerable playing time.
So yeah, it was just a sloppy game though it
was nothing what we expected. Obviously you don't going to
and expecting that, but you know, we hit on Sunday,
we hit the points of the field position, you know,
and explosive plays some of the things that win games,

(00:44):
and we failed at both of those, basically explosive plays
in our offense at you know five and we and
we gave up five explosives, so we're pretty equally there.
But just a takeaways, losing two turnovers on offense, having
two shank punts and a block on which basically consists
of five turnovers, and when you have five turnovers, and

(01:06):
take zero away and have zero takeaways and ain't gonna
look pretty no matter who you're playing. And Darrel's a
good program, and we knew they were going to be there,
this is their year kind of, and then we knew
their offense was, you know, clicking from carry over from
last year, so I think might half to them. They
came and executed to what they needed to do, and

(01:27):
we didn't play very well.

Speaker 3 (01:29):
And when you look at how Adam Moon played in
his first kind of you know, full on start, he
reminds you maybe you know, you have to go.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
Back a few quarterbacks to kind of looks. He's obviously
got some great legs.

Speaker 3 (01:39):
And while you know Sean borger Ding and even Mitch
a little bit last year that you know they could
run the ball, he seems like he's maybe got that
maybe as one of his best, if not his best talent,
you know, where he can kind of take off with
the ball. Reminds you maybe of like a Jay Allison
or one of those guys from before. Do you just say, hey,
you know, go out there and use the talent you
have with the legs, or is it more like, hey,
we need more of a balance, We need more of

(01:59):
a uh, you know, you kind of doing all the
pieces that we.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
Expect for a quarterback to do.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
Yeah, I mean it's it's a double edged sword a
little bit. I mean it's not just what he did,
it's stuff from we didn't give them the time to
do much back there in the pocket. And you got
a rookie quarterback who's with the pocket collapsing quickly. A
lot of times she was off his first reason where
the second read was wide open. But he has time
or confidence to sit in that pocket. So it kind

(02:26):
of goes all over.

Speaker 4 (02:27):
You know.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
I think our challenge, says coaches, is okay, now we
can kind of see what you got, and now it's
up to us to put these situations and put these
guys in the best situations and and put the ball
in the hands of our key players and make let
let them make place so you know, everybody tracks touch it,
and we touch it as people get and I don't
think we did a very good job of getting getting

(02:50):
our playmakers the most touches we should have got. So
it's that's that's coaching. I mean, that's that's a challenge.
That's the fun part of coaching, is okay, here's what
we got. Now we know we got with live bullets flying,
because you really don't know when spring ball and in
preseason camp what you really have because everything's comfortable, you're
playing the same opponent and it's your offense, and you're

(03:11):
seeing them all spring and all preseason. And then when
the live bullets come, now you see what you really got.
And now it's our challenges coaches, to put our guys
in the best situations and the best positions to be successful.
And if that means throwing some plays out, adding some
different ones on both sides of the ball, it's what
we need to do.

Speaker 3 (03:29):
Let's talk a little bit about Dickinson State here and
what they present. Obviously, you played them last year as
part of a home and home set up here and
a team that kind of you know, beat you late
basically one of those were I thought the team in
that game played pretty well, but again Dickinson maybe made
a couple more of those explosive plays down the stretch.
Now you go all the way to Dickinson State, what

(03:51):
do they present in terms of challenges and how do
you guys combat that here in week two?

Speaker 2 (03:56):
Yeah, you know, from looking at film, very similar to
last year. They're good upfront. I mean, that's what kind
of wins the war for them. I mean, they're they
have some really aggressive old lineman and aggressive d lineman
and they're big, and they stick money into those positions,
which I wish we had money to stick in positions
at all, but they take money in those positions and
it shows. You know, the quarterback is ah, he's a

(04:19):
consistent and and he lose to the little guy, so
he he likes to run. He's the old giant knight
is running over the place back there and making a miss,
so we can't let him be the matador and just uh,
we're charging bulls up front. But yeah, I mean it's
gonna take a good game to beat these guys. But
like we told our guys, it's this is just a
w I C Now. It's you're gonna see these same

(04:41):
type of caliber teams from here on out. So it
doesn't matter if it's Dicking Center, Lacrosse or white Water
or whoever it is. So we'll be ready. I mean,
it's it'll be learning and hopefully these guys settled in
a little bit too, and just the comfort zone, you know,
second time playing a game so we'll see.

Speaker 5 (04:59):
We got game two.

Speaker 3 (05:01):
Nine hour drive obviously nine ten hours, I guess depend
on how long it takes to the to get to
the Mountain time zone there in North Dakota. Do you
think that's helpful, right, kind of get on a long
road trip with the guys getting to bond. I know
they've been, you know obviously in camp and doing all
those kind of things. The road trips tend to maybe
bring out a little bit more of that, you know,
team bonding type of thing. Do you think that'll be
at least helpful in building for the season.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
Yeah, you know, I never never heards.

Speaker 2 (05:24):
I guess h nine hours is not always fun and
a great on a one way but.

Speaker 1 (05:30):
Yeah, you know, it's the experience too, right.

Speaker 2 (05:32):
I mean, it's college football, and these are the trips
that are gonna remember for the rest of our lives.
And I still remember all my overnight trips when I
went to play college ball. And there's a little bit
more too than just W and L. We got great guys,
I mean, mature a group of guys. They really took
it to heart. And when I said, you know, you know,
we need to change and I'm gonna start calling guys

(05:54):
out and telling you we tell like it is here
in on our program, and we don't call it. We
call like it is, and spade is spade, and they
respect that. And we're going to tell you exactly what
we think at all times. And they're mature men and
they take it and and uh and that's how it
should be. That's the real world. So yeah, it's I'm
I'm looking forward to just getting out of town and

(06:15):
just kind of bond a little bit and just see
the beautiful plains of North Dakota. But we just need
to we need to lock in. We need to play better.
I know our guys will. We're up against in our
tough opponent. We just can't shoot ourselves in the foot anymore.
And we need to play just a solid game. And
as long as we improved from last week, which I

(06:37):
hope we will, that's going to be a successful trip.
But we're looking to go there, and you know, we
gotta we got to pull one out that we aren't
expected to win this year, since we lost one that
we were supposed to win. You know, I'm sure Notre
Dame's sitting in their staff being saying the same thing.
You know, we got to now b one shock the
world on somebody whom weren't supposed to win. So there's

(06:59):
upsets every day. I get, but you know, how do
you rebond on that? How do you bunce back? That
shows the character of your program?

Speaker 3 (07:07):
All right, coach, we appreciate you taking the time and
looking forward to these chats throughout the course of the
season and good luck today.

Speaker 1 (07:14):

Kickoffe is only minutes away. This is the pregame show
with the voice of the Blue Devils on newstalk w mEq.

Speaker 3 (08:35):
And we welcome you back in here live Dude Dickenson,
North Dakota. Long again about nine plus hour drive for
the Blue Devils to get here to Dickinson to take
on this ni squad that they agreed to play twice
once last year in Menomine And now you're in Dickinson
here in twenty twenty four. Gain peaknots along with you.
Happy to have you along with us here on newstalk WMEQ.

(08:56):
Actually just got done with the rendition of the national anthem.
Couple of dudes, I guess you could say on Jimmy
Hendrick style on their electric guitars. Getting done with that.
So we are going to get close and ready for
kickoff here. So our intrepid producer Dan Price will I'm
sure adjust accordingly as we are almost set for the
kickoff here. So let's get you right to the starting

(09:18):
lineups for the Blue Devils and the Dickinson State Blue Hawks.
We'll start with the Blue Devils on offense. Ana mon
is a junior from Lake Mills at six three hundred
and ninety five pounds again rush for fifty eight yards
last week through for two hundred and twenty two in
that loss against Carol University. He will play the quarterback spot.
Chase Hughes gets the ball as the starting running back

(09:38):
for the Blue Devils out of Freemont, Wisconsin. He went
to Hortonville High School. Had just eighteen yards rushing on
eight attempts last week. Ben Tolkienen will back him up.
He's starting receivers our Carter Zazulka for the Blue Devils.
He is a receiver out of Esco, Minnesota six two,
two hundred and ten pounds sophomore had a seventy yard
touchdown last week as well. Caleb tim is the tight end,

(10:00):
the senior six foot four, two hundred and forty pounds.
In't have a catch last week, but has been with
this program for a long time. Patrick Corkran, the other receiver,
is senior five foot six, one hundred and seventy five
pounds of speedster who they'll get out in the end
to rounds and those kind of plays as well throughout
the course of this game. Had two catches for thirty
two yards last week. Tucker Hockinson is the other receiver,
the junior at six foot two hundred and five pounds.

(10:23):
He had thirty eight yards receiving last week. From left
to right across the line, it's Ben Bissel, the sophomore.
Sam Briett will actually the left guard. The senior left
guard will get replaced Tody by Andrew David, the sophomore.
There so two sophomores on the left side of the
line for the Blue Devils. The other side of the
line is all seniors. The center is Nolan Baker, the

(10:44):
right guard is Luke Parzik and Luke Mertens, who was
hurt early in the game last week against Carol, is
able to give it a go here today. Let's hope
that he can make it through the senior at six
foot three for the Blue Devils on the defensive side,
since this is the first time you get in to
hear him here on the radio this season, let's give
you those guys as well. Nick Mose is a defensive
and the nose guard is Walker Yral. The other defensive

(11:06):
end is Johnny Schmidt. The linebackers in this three to
four setup, Drew Scheyer is one of the outside linebackers.
Carter Fonger is at the other outside linebacker. He is
a senior for the Blue Devils out of Superior. Last
season and for the first few seasons of his Blue
Devils career a running back, had four hundred and forty
four yard six touchdowns rushing. But as Clay Birmingham often does,

(11:28):
he sees some of those offensive guys who can make
their way over the defensive side of the ball, and
Carter Fonger wanted to move that way, so he's now
a linebacker for this Blue Devils team. The inside linebackers
are Blaine Sidel and Nate Rewalld A couple of the
big guys up front there. Richie Murphy and Gavin Goodman
are the two cornerbacks. Murphy the senior and Goodman the
sophomore who played really well last year was really a

(11:49):
last game. Rather was really impressed with him going into
that action. Dawson Goodman is the strong safety. He will
be the sophomore there at five tackles last week, and
the leading tackler last week for the bluef against Carroll
was Brooks Brewer, the sophomore safety out of Colfax and
played his high school ball at Menominee as well, so
the local kid there. The Blue Levels outgained the Carrol

(12:12):
University Pioneers last week on both the ground and through
the air and still lost that game twenty eight to sixteen.
We'll talk about some of the reasons that happened last
week throughout the course of this game and coin toss
going on. They may have a few issues with the
with the referee microphone. So it looks like the Bluehawks

(12:37):
won the toss and they have deferred and it will
be Stout receiving to start things off here in Dickenson
It is a windy day in Dickenson. It's actually pretty nice.
I know back in the Chipple Valley Menominee region it
is a little on the kind of gloomy, rainy side,
but we're in the mid seventies and it is very windy.
The wind will be kind of into the Blue Devils

(12:59):
here in this first quarter. They'll be moving left to
right as you listen to them at home, and they'll
be moving into the win. It's kind of a it's
into the win, but it's a little cross wind toward
the toward the grand stand here toward the press box
as well, so that should probably affect some things throughout
the course of this game. Also a quick rundown of

(13:20):
the Dickinson Saint Bluehawks starting lineup. Will Maddler will again
be the starting quarterback, the senior who has thrown for
three hundred and eighteen yards and four touchdowns in two
games already. Brayden Zeroff a big time running back that
they're pretty excited about there as well. He will start there.
And CJ. Stinson is the outside receiver that will keep
our eye on. But that's when they're on offense. When

(13:41):
the Blue Devils are on offense. It'll be Patrick Corkran
along with DeVante Evans to receive the kickoff. We are
ready for Week two of the twenty twenty four NCAA
football season. Here comes the run up, and here we
go downfield. It goes toward Evans and the nearest side
that's gonna again ride the win and all the way
through the back of the end zone and be taken

(14:02):
out to the twenty five yard line where Adam Mohn
and company will set up. So back then, ready to go.
Here are the Blue Devils for action. A rough week
last week. Let's see if they can turn the corner,
turn the page here and get a win against a
very good Blue Hawks team out of the NAIA, which
historically has had an advantage on Division three in that
they can pay scholarships, they can pay players and do

(14:25):
all that sort of thing. Of course, with NIL a
little bit more competitive between D three and NAIA, but
you're kind of the underdog. Working up is Adam Moan's
going to go in the pistol formation as one receiver left,
one right tight up on the formation. His running back
is Chase Hughes from the twenty five on the far
hash mark he'll take the snap, We'll hand it off
to Hughes. Goes up the middle, got a huge block
up the thirty. Oh. He got just tripped up past

(14:47):
the forty yard line and is taken down right around
the forty yard line. Just a real late trip there,
but a great gain for Chase Hughes on the first
play of the game. And it's a first down for
the Blue Devils as they move quickly. First play a
good one as the Blue Devils had the touch back
to start and now Chase Hughes with a big rattle
off game there. Let's give him now sixteen yards up

(15:08):
to the forty one yard line, officially first down here,
Blue Devils Hughes again in the pistol formation. They send
a receiver in motion right to left across the formation.
Mohan looks left, nothing there now, looking right, throws near
side and he throws it in to the sideline of
blue Bluehawk jerseys as he was intended that one for Zuzulka,
but I think more just getting rid of it as
there was nothing doing on that near side. Second and

(15:31):
ten from their own forty one yard line here for
UW's stop against Dickinson State, a lot of other games
in action all one o'clock starts, except for Platteville tonight
in the WIAC. We'll keep you up to date on
all those as well when we have time to do it.
Man in motion here for the Blue Devers, Tucker Hockinson
goes right to left across the formation two receivers there,
they're going to give it to Hughes up the gun

(15:52):
on the pistol. He gets a yard, not much more
as Wyatt Anderson was in on the stop along with others.
Looked like Riley Watch was there for the Blue Hawks
to bring up a third and nine here for UW. Stout,
So again that first play on the new set of
downs and incompletion and just kind of puts you know,
the old adage. I don't know if I like using
it so much because I feel like it's overused, but

(16:13):
that old adage of being behind schedule, that's kind of
where the Blue Devils are now here on third and
nine from the forty two almost get a man to
jump off sides there on the line. But now the
Blue Doubles look toward the sideline with ten on the
play clock, thirteen forty eight left to play here in
the first quarter. I need to get this snap off
here to his moan, he's got four, he's got three, two, one.
He'll get it off now, roll to his left, looks downfield,

(16:35):
throws that way toward the sideline cop by Zuzuka, but
he's gonna be short at the forty eight yard line.
The coverage from Cooper McLoughlin, the senior for the Blue Hawks,
and Scout's gonna come up three yards short. They needed nine,
they got six to their own forty eight. Now the
issue here will be the punting game, one because you're
kicking into the win, but two because Ben Carl's last week,
who'd never shanked a punt all last year, shanked two

(17:00):
punts last game against Carol. His average in three punts
in that game against Carol fourteen point three yards. It
was totally out of the character of Ben Carls. Let's
see if he can get a good leg into this one.
Here comes the kick. This one is a line drive.
It's decent across the thirty of the Blue Hawks and
out of bounds at the twenty seven. I mean, he's

(17:20):
trying to keep it out of the wind, but still
not a terribly great punt. To the twenty seven yard
line of the Blue Hawks. So that's only a twenty
five yard punt and the kicking woes. I don't know
what's happened between the twenty twenty three and the twenty
twenty four season of Ben Carl's certainly having issues here
getting the boot into the ball. So the Blue Hawks

(17:42):
will take over now, and as we said, it will
be Will Madler who will come out as the quarterback
here for the Blue Hawks. Two receivers to his right
and two out to the left side as well. Now
they're going to take those two receivers from the right
and line them up on the line in motion, and
back in the shotgun is Madler. I'll send a man
in motion to his left and they'll fake the handoff.
Throws it right over the middle to his tight end.

(18:02):
That's caught by Kyden Hoole, and he's got a long
way in front of him to the forty five and
across the fifty into soout territory. He's down near the
forty seven yard line of the Blue Devils. Carter Fonger
got to him the mark HM at the forty eight
yard line. Officially, that is a twenty five yard gain
and that erases the punt yardage in one play on
that pass from Madler in just a little pop pass

(18:24):
over the top and Cayden Hoole, who is a sophomore
at six foot five, two hundred and fifty pounds, only
has one reception coming into the game. Thanks one right
over the top because they easily saw that there was
a little mismatch there and picked up twenty five yards.
Sends a man in motion, that's CJ. Stinson from left
to right across the formation. Madler back to pass, has
a good pocket, throws it over the middle, caught it
the forty five of Stout and down to about the

(18:45):
forty three. It'll be a five yard gain on first down.
Tackles made by Goodman and Brewer as the catch is
made by Stintson, the man who was in motion his
ninth catch of the season, leading receiver for this Blue
Hawks team. Still no score between Stout and Dickenson State.
Dickenson State is again being coached by Pete Stanton. He's

(19:06):
in his eleventh season. They have won the NFCC their
conference in Naia. Ten of the eleven seasons he's been
at the Helm and they've been the last time. The
only one they didn't win was his first year. They
got second place that year. Reid option is wrapped up
in the backfield and stopped right at the fifty yard line.
There he held onto it, did Maddler, And that was
a pretty terrible decision because Dawson Goodman came in along

(19:28):
with Blaine Sidel for this sack and big time play
there for the Blue Devils, and sure enough it was
Sidel who just kind of spun him backwards. Fonger was
the other one in on the play for Stout. But
I think they'll give Sidell the straight up sack. I know,
the read option. They may end up just calling that
a loss. But nonetheless, third and eleven now here for

(19:50):
this Dickinson State squad again from their own thirty nine
or no, in pardon me, from the Stout thirty nine
yard line. Maddler back to pass on third and eleven.
He's got a good pocket. Now comes the rush they
get back to him, trip him up. He stays on
his feet at the forty. Now he's gonna run forty
five fifties. Got the first down and more to the
forty yard line, thirty nine yard line before he's swung

(20:12):
down by Brooks Brewer. How in the world did he
get away from the Blue Devil pressure? That'll be a
first down on the scramble. Now they're marking at fourth
down here. Boy, it looks like he's got the first
down from my advantage point. But again there was great
pressure more as Justice had him. I mean he had
him in the backfield, and then all of a sudden

(20:32):
he slipped away and there was plenty of green turf
in front of him to the left side, and boy,
what an open field tackle from Brewer. I think they're
gonna mark this just a touch short of the first
down marker, So he'll go under center, Will Mattler will
hand it off to the right side. Oh Sout hit him.

Speaker 8 (20:47):
He's down.

Speaker 3 (20:47):
I don't think he got it down at the thirty
nine yard line. He might have lost half a yard
there on the run for Braden Zerof, and sure enough
Stout stops him. I guess they didn't need the thirty nine.
They needed the thirty eight and half in the mark
the ball right at the thirty nine, and he lost
a half of the yard just running right up the middle.
There did Zerof and the Blue Devils turn them over

(21:08):
on downs. Can you believe it? Wow? After that kind
of demoralizing scramble, Stout somehow comes up big on defense
and turns over the Blue Hawks. So Blue Devils take
over at their own thirty nine yard line. Adam Owen
back out and again just got behind schedule on the
last drive after one good first down. Let's see if

(21:30):
they can keep things moving forward on this drive. He's
got Ben Tolkienen as his running back, will hand it
off to him, looking right, tries to make a move
nothing nothing there, gets wrapped up in the backfield and
maybe gets back to the line of scrimmage. Moving right
Brooks Talbot. They're on the tackle, the junior who has
ten total tackles and two sacks coming into today's play,
second and ten from their own thirty nine on the

(21:50):
near hatch. So Tolkienen trying to bounce it out around
the right tackle and unable to find any room there.

Speaker 2 (22:00):
Is.

Speaker 3 (22:00):
Once again, he sends a man emotions Patrick Corkan moving
right to left handoff, will go up the gut. Nothing there,
I mean maybe a yard or two up the gut
there for the Blue Devils, and they're turning to one
of running back. We didn't see a lot last week
for the Blue Devils. Dylan Nelson, the sophomore from Watertown, Minnesota,
went to Meyra Lutheran and he gets to the forty

(22:21):
two yard line there to pick up actually three yards.
He got a little late surger at the last moment
third and seven. They need their own forty nine for
a first down ball at the forty two. Adam Mohen
looks to the sideline and it doesn't or it wants
to check off the play. He's got eleven seconds on
the play clock, nine to twenty seven left to go
here in the first quarter. No score between Stout and Dickinson. State.

(22:43):
Happy to have you along with us here on Newstock
WMAQ mowing back to pass, He's got a good pocket launch,
he's at left side, up it goes, it jump balls,
Azuka comes down with it at the thirty four yard line.
Coverage was great from Cooper McLoughlin, but Zazulka just climbed
the ladder and he beat the six foot two McLaughlin did. Zazilka,
He's also six foot two, so that's just a jump

(23:05):
ball and he comes down with it at the Blue
Hawk thirty four yard line. A beautiful catching pass. I'll
give him twenty seven yards on the play and it's
first down. Stout at the blue Hawks thirty four yard
line on the far hash eight forty seven to go.
First quarter, no score between Stout and Dickenson. State three receivers,
bunch left one out to the right, they'll fake the handoff,

(23:27):
they'll throw right side. Catch made by Evans. He's at
the thirty one, trying to make a move across the
thirty and they're trying to strip the balls. He's taken
down at the twenty nine, maybe the twenty eight yard line.
Second and short coming up here for Stout. Good play
for Devonte Evans, sixty six yards receiving last week two
receptions showed off his speed. He is gonna give Patrick

(23:48):
Corkoran a bit of a run for his money when
it comes to the forty yard dash times on this team,
Corkoran probably the fastest guy out there. And now look
at this formation. This is the old stacked eye. Now
they're gonna course motion out of it. They had all
five of their guys in the backfield. For their guys
in the backfield, all lined up behind Mowen. Now he's
going to run with it himself to the left sides.

(24:09):
Got a blocker makes a move at the twenty five
and he shoestrung tackled at the twenty three. He does, though,
have enough of a gain for a first down. That
was a six yard gain out to the left side,
and it's first and ten here for the Blue Devils
as they are now working their way to the red zone.
Not quite in it yet at the twenty three. Last week,
three red zone opportunities for the Blue Devils, they came

(24:31):
away with one touchdown, a one field goal, and another
red zone opportunity that was for not so Blue Devils.
Will quickly run up to the line here and break
king the huddle. Three receivers bunch left, one right, far
hash mark left to right. They move first and ten
from the twenty three yard line. They bounce it out
left side here and a decent run across the twenty

(24:52):
up about to the eighteen yard line once ago again
goes Dylan Nelson, the running back from Watertown, Minnesota, and
a good game there on the the left side, going
to pick up about half of what he needed, and
it will be second and five here for the Blue
Devils at the Blue Hawk's eighteen yard line, and here's
your first red zone trip of the game. Here for Stout.

(25:12):
Nolan Baker breaks the hddle, runs up to the ball
as the center. Now the rest of the line will
join him. They have shuffled around on the offensive line.
Looks like it is no Luke Mertens today, even though
he was on the depth chart. But unable to give
it a go as they will fake the handoff through
out left side. Corkoran dropped it. Corkoran dropped it looking
on that left side. Maybe was feeling the pressure from
McLoughlin out there on that left side as well, just

(25:34):
trying to get the ball to him in space, which
why wouldn't you want to do that with how great
his speed is. But unable to catch the ball is
I think he heard footsteps coming up to make that play.
So now third and five from the Blue Hawk eighteen
yard line. You've got a good kicker in Luke cool.
But remember it is a breezy day here today and
the wind is blowing into the face and a little
bit across the field here of Stout. So even at

(25:55):
the eighteen yard line, I don't know how confident you
feel putting the field goal kicking unit out there. We
took under ten seconds left on the play clock. As
Mowen comes up in the shotgun. To his right is
Joe Gardner, the sophomore running back. Two seconds they'll fake
the handoff to him, throws it out to Corkoran. He
bobbles it drops It was out of backwards pass, no
they call it a forwards pass, barely but again trying

(26:15):
to get it to Corkoran. And I wonder if some
of these little pop passes, if Mowen is putting a
little air under him, I wonder if that's just enough
for the wind to affect them. And Corkoran's kind of
hitting his helmet on the way to the sideline. He's
upset with himself for not catching it. But still one
where I think the wind maybe just affecting that with
how strong and breezy it is out here in Dickinson today.
So a field goal attempt for Luke cool who is

(26:38):
thirty of forty one in his career. He was one
of one from thirty five yards last week, and that
this one is exactly a thirty five yarder on the
far hash again left to right, not a good snap.
The hold was good though for a moan. The kick
is on the way. It's long enough, but it's wide.
Why left He hooked it even though the wind is
kind of blowing to push that to the right. So
he had that much hook on it just missed on

(27:01):
the far upright of the field goal post. So Blue
Devils have had two drives and they have come away
with nothing so far in both of them had to punt,
and now a Luke Cool missed thirty five yard field
goal has the ball back in the hands of Dickinson State.
Still no score here with six forty one remaining in
the first quart Again, happy to have you along with

(27:22):
us here on Newstalk WM EQAMA eighty men, Nominee Translator,
W two nine two EG one O six to three
FMO Claire and iHeartRadio station and again we're on the
iHeartRadio app and happy to bring you the road games
this year. Again the home games over on the YAC network.
You can watch those for free yacnetwork dot Com. We'll
have all those there as well, So we've got your

(27:43):
Blue Devils covered this year. On terms of the football
side of things. As once again, Madler back in the
shotgun hands it off on the Reid option. The run
is not gonna get him much as he will get
across the twenty. Up near the twenty four yard line
is Braden Zerof zerof one hundred and twenty two yards
rushing on forty attempts coming into the game. That's good
for about a three yard average per game for him.

(28:05):
Second and six. As the ball starts at the twenty
yard line after the missed field goal on this drive
on the near hash, the Blue Hawks in the home
blue uniforms with the gray helmets and the gray and
white trim white numbers as well. They move a man
in motion CJ. Simpson right now left. They look to
get it to him the flat at nothing there. They're
gonna have to throw it out of the backfield to

(28:26):
their running back zerof who's almost stripped of the ball
across the twenty and he's gonna lose a yard of
the twenty three yard line. Another great open field tackle
there by the Blue Devils to get the stop. That's
a loss there. Blaine Siddell in on the tackle. He
has been all over the place. He had a quarterback
hit and half a tackle for a loss in game
number one against Carol earlier last week. You know, I

(28:50):
say it's last Saturday, but it was a Thursday night game,
so you know how they talk about it in the NFL, right,
when you play a Thursday night game, you get the
old mini buy. I guess it's a little bit of
a mini buy this week for out they had a
few more days of rest and a long trip. So
again we'll see how it all affects him here, but
should be pretty fresh out there. Should the Blue Devils
back to pass her Madler on third and seven, looking
over the middle, it's up and deflected in complete. That

(29:12):
went off the fingertips of the intended receiver Stintson. And
again it was a little high because he had to
throw it over a linebacker who I believe was Pidell,
kind of lurking right over the middle and too strong.
And that will bring up fourth down. So three it
out here for the Blue Hawks. Now again they're gonna
have the wind at their back. As their punter, Tying

(29:34):
Nelson averaging just under thirty yards per punt, we'll punt
it off to Patrick Corkran standing back at his own
thirty yard line. Here comes the punt and it is
a pretty good one. Corkoran to the thirty three and
he's gonna let that ball drop. I don't know why.
With the wind that course, it takes a or a
blue hawk bounce inside the twenty, inside the fifteen, still
rolling down all the way to the eleven yard line.

(29:57):
And what a punt it was in the end, a
perfect punt there that rolls all the way down to
the eleven and you can mark off a total of
sixty six yards I believe on that punt, and that'll
up the old average here in Dickinson. Dickinson, North Dakota.
They added a North Woods League team this last year.

(30:17):
The bad Lands Big Sticks in the North Woods League
play in the Oaklaire Express and the other teams around
the area. So Dickinson has become much more part of
the sports landscape, if you will, in the western Wisconsin area.
And Stout this agreement to go out here and play
Dickinson State also contributing to that as well. So stout
back out five h two left to go here in

(30:38):
this first quarter. A fake handoff here for Adam Mohen
trying to get back to the line of scrimmage. He's
not gonna do it as he's wrapped up by Chris Kissler,
the senior linebacker, and stopped on the play for likely
a loss of one back to the ten yard line,
So long field in front of him here for stout.
Now you get a feeling like we're playing a little
bit of field position game. They will give him four
progress back to the line of scrimmage, so and no

(31:00):
lost play. Second and ten here for the Blue Devils,
with two receivers to his right, and went out to
the left. The tight end lined up offset left side
of the line as well. They put Corcoran in motion
right to left. Mowen looking right now rolling left, gets
out throws Corcoran makes the catch. No he does not.
It's dropped over there on the far side, and it

(31:21):
is incomplete and part of me, not Corkoran rather but
one of the backup full back slash tight ends here
for the Blue Devils, and Mason Frank got a good
thunder Minnesota just high school ball at Maple River the sophomore.
But we haven't seen much of course this year. Did
not play, I don't believe, in game number one of
the season. Incomplete. So third and ten from their own

(31:42):
eleven four to twenty one left to go, first quarter,
still no score, but they got it offside. It's a
free play here on that jump at the moone steps up,
he's going to be sacked, but this should be five
yards against the Bluehawks, as it looked like Dylan Dalgren
jumped off side. I mean he was clearly offside. The
officials are talking about it, and tell you what, when
the officials talk about it bad things, I feel like

(32:03):
they're going to override somebody and say, hey, he wasn't
actually offside. He jump back. By the time that was snapped,
it is off side, so on the Bluehawks, and it
is again a penalty on Dallgren and so to be
third and five now here for the Blue Devils instead
of third and ten. Good recognition though from Nolan Baker.
I think he snapped that ball a little early, knowing

(32:24):
that if he did, you know, kind of the old
Aaron Rodgers Packers play where you see a guy offside
or you see a guy running off the field, snap
it and now you've got a free play basically, and
that's kind of what he did. Is Adam Mowen calls
out the play to the line here twenty seconds on
the play clock four ten and running left to play
here in the first quarter with no score. Three receivers
bunch right, one left on the near hatch. Mowen takes

(32:45):
the snap, looks left the whole way, now looks right,
He's got pressure in his face, throws it away looking
for Patrick Corkran, but he had two guys right up
in his business there. The pressure came from Kissler again
and Dylan Dahlgren again on that would have been the
right side of the defense or the offensive line there,
and Parzik and Dalton Mondo, who's filling in for Luke
Mertens today. So they're already I mean, we're in week

(33:07):
two and there's already injury issues on that offensive line
for Stout. And again, you don't know really what you're
going to get out of the Stout team this year.
A lot of graduations. Without Mitch Wector running things back there,
you don't know what you're going to get. And injuries
are certainly going to add to the list of question
marks for this team. Moving forwards, the punt unit out
Ben Carl's at his own one, gets a good snap,

(33:27):
can he get a good boot into this one? That
much better? All the way to the fifty yard line.
Fair catch made exactly at the fifty for the returner,
Carson Hunter, and a much better punt there into the
win for Ben Carls. That's the best one we've seen
from him all year. But it is still good field
position here for the Blue Hawks. Three fifty five remaining
in the first quarter, and they will take over right

(33:48):
at midfield here for Dickenson State. Quick look in to
the other score from around the Wayak Whitewater is up
at halftime in their contest today. They're taking on Roosevelt
in Illinois, but only seven to nothing co with a
twenty one seven lead at Carson Park against the Blue
Golds as well. We'll get you some other scores when

(34:10):
they come to us. As Madler in the shotgun, as
two receivers right one the left, fakes the handoff back
to pass rowse it deep over the middle, caught at
the twenty five yard line and spinning down near the
twenty three maybe the twenty two yard line, as CJ.
Stinson found a soft spot in the out zone and
picks up first down yard and they are going to
take some shots here. You can tell Madler very calm

(34:31):
back in the pocket there and had a good pocket.
Nobody making any kind of pressure there and just right
in between everybody, Goodman and Brewer was the closest guys
to it. But it's first and ten now from the
twenty two. As they pick up twenty eight yards on
first down, Madler back to pass with four receivers looking
right the whole way said it's his tight end to
the fifteen, takes a hit, stays on his feet. Now

(34:53):
he's loaded up on there right near the line to gain.
They say that he was down on the initial tackle
by Carter fonn he'll be about a yard short of
the first down. And as Caden Hoole makes the nine
yard reception, and at second and one in the playbook
open here for the Blue Hawks or Dickinson State. They're
gonna run some tempo up to the line. Quickly, send

(35:13):
two receivers left, one right offset left side as Caden
Hoole and his running back is zer off second and
one hell fumbled snap. Stout jumps on it at the
fifteen yard line. Carter Fonger had it for a moment.
I think he had it ripped away. Fonger had it
on the ground and then it was ripped away by Zerof,
and officials aren't gonna talk about this much because when

(35:34):
you're at the bottom of a pile, I'm not sure
they can really say, hey, like this guy had it before,
this guy ripped it away, but that should have been
stout ball and that might cost him some points here,
either three or seven because that fumbled snap and then
fumbled hand off. As saw Madler trying to get it
off to Zerof there just kind of bobbling it around
and he fell right to Fonger and he just could

(35:55):
not scoop it up on the turf. He fell on
it and he just kind of squirted out in Zerof
then jumped on it Johnny on the spot. They did
lose a couple of yards, though, back to the sixteen
yard line, third and a long three here for the
Blue Hawks with two minutes left to go in the
first quarter of no score. Maddler back to passing the shotgun.
He's got plenty of time, somebody's got to get there. Instead,
he throws left. It's caught across the ten yard line

(36:16):
and then ripped down at the eight yard line is
Kyle mini Key, and that'll be a first down here.
For the Blue Hawks on a game of about eight
and it's first and goal here for Dickinson State. Just
cannot give a guy like Madler, a team that's ranked
in the top twenty five in the NAIA, that much
time to throw. Stot's gonna have to get more pressure.

(36:37):
They got no sacks against Carol last week. They need
to get them this week. Here is the Reid option
handof zero off right up to got nothing there, maybe
gets a yard, but the Blue Devils had it read perfectly.
Drew Schneider, who had a really good game last week,
was there along with Sidell again who has been all
over the place here in the inside linebackers spot. Early
on we got a whistle and a time out for

(36:58):
Dickinson State not liking something about the setup. So it's
second and seven. We'll take a short break, come back,
no score one thirteen left to go. First quarter. Right
here on your home for Blue Doubles football experience.

This is UW Stout Football on Newstock wm EQ.

Speaker 3 (37:48):
And ded it is Blue Devils football and we're happy
to have you along with us here on Newstock wm EQ.
Are going to be bringing you the road games, four
of them this season for the Blue Doubles. This is
the only non conference road game here against the Kinson State.
No score with one eighteen left to go here in
the first quarter, but Dickinson State knocking on the door.
It's second and goal from the seven yard line here

(38:09):
for Dickinson State. Out of the first charge time out
to the Bluehawks. In this game, Blue Doubles backed up
against the end zone here and needing a stop in
the worst way. Let's see if they can get it.
Maddler in the shotgun formation. He will once again on
the reid option, handed off, bouncing left side to the
five and nothing more for zeroff and side held there again. Man,
he has been all over the place Lanesideel the junior

(38:30):
for the Blue Devils from Medford, is just showing off
why this Stout team was so lucky to get him
and then again kind of waited his turn his freshman year.
But this season has really stepped up and played well
defensively already in one plus games here for the Blue Doubles.
So it's third and goal from the six. That's where
they'll get zerof two. Just a yard gain on that

(38:51):
play near hashmark, moving right to left. Forty five seconds
remain here in quarter number one. Madler in the shotgun
for four takes a snap, looks to pass looking over
the middle, now throws over the middle. It is intercepted,
intercepted in the back of the end zone and I'm
gonna try to return it or was he down in
the or the end zone? He was down in the

(39:12):
end zone there on the interception for the Blue Devils.
I see who came away with it there on the interception.
I believe it was Richie Murphy. Don't quote me on that.
Hold On a second, No, it was not intercepted in
the back of the end zone for Stout, and it's
the backup defensive back A. J. Hogan a transfer from
Carroll University. He's from Chicago, Illinois, and the Blue Devils

(39:35):
get the touchback. He was tackling trying to bring the
ball out and he got tackled right at the goal line,
and you're worried that maybe the Blue Levels were going
to be at the one yard line there, but not
the case, as Stout will have the ball here at
the twenty one. An interception on third down in the
end zone and a big takeaway, second interception of the
season for the Blue Devils. Moen gonna keep it on

(39:55):
a quarterback run to his right. He's gonna maybe get
a yard or two pushing the pile to the right side,
getting up out of the pile to make that stop
as Wyatt Anderson looked like a couple other guys in
there as well for Dickinson State, and that's likely going
to take us to the end of the half or
end of the quarter. Excuse me as well. Eli Hanson,

(40:18):
the other defensive lineman in to make the stop, and
that will tick down the first quarter and we've got
no score. Both teams have possessed the ball well, but
still the big turnover grab here, big takeaway on that
interception gets them the ball back and stops Dickinson from
getting into the end zone. We'll take a break come back,
second quarter, no score between Stout and Dickinson. State here
in your home for Blue Devils football.

Speaker 3 (41:40):
Welcome back in here to Dickinson, North Dakota. Happy to
have you along with us here for stout football on
Newstock WMQ. The Blue Devils with sixty eight yards of
total offense eighty one for Dickinson State out of the
first quarter. As the Blue Devils and Dickinson State each
with two drives each ending in no points is missed
a field goal, Dickinson State has thrown an interception in

(42:04):
the red zone. The Blue Devils have second and eight
at their own twenty two yard line coming out of
the quarter break. It's an a moan in the shotgun
with Chase Hughes as his tailback of the pistol. They'll
give it to Hughes on the little delay, running right side.
He has the first down all the way to the
thirty yard line, moving on the right hatch between the
hatch and the numbers, and he's taken down by Ronley

(42:25):
o'donnald a senior linebacker after a gain of eight in
a first down here for the Blue Devils, clad in
all white here today on the road in western North
Dakota again about a nine ish hour drive. Blue Devils
stopped at North Dakota State on the way yesterday to
Dickinson State. Got a chance to tour the Fargo Dome

(42:46):
and all the great accouterment that the Bison have there,
and got to do their run through there as well.
Fake the handoff, Mohan gonna get hit as he throws,
throws right, he's got happens to the forty five fifty
down the first sideline of the forty tries to make
a move inside the thirty five yard line, Taken down
to the thirty three yard line by Jamin Medlock, the safety,
but not after a huge gain for Evans down the

(43:07):
sideline DeVante Evans making the play, and how about Adam
Mohen hanging in the pocket, gets driven back on the
corner blitz by Jaden Hartwell and down the sideline streaking
goes Evans, a big time gain of thirty Think they're
going to market thirty seven yards down to the thirty
three so first and ten here into Blue Hawk territory.

(43:30):
Mowen hands it off up the gut to Hughes. He's
across the thirty and down near the twenty seven yard line,
a six yard gain on first down as he bowls
over the defender that takes him down in Jackson Williams,
the senior linebacker, and it'll be second and short, second
and four here for Stout. They're playing not quite up tempo,
but you can tell that the Bluehawks maybe sucking wind

(43:51):
a little bit defensively, and they look a little bit
gassed after that big Evans play. And that was the
problem all last week is Adam Mohen. If he saw pressure,
his initial instinct was to run. That's what he wanted
to do right away. He's got to hang in the
pocket more. And he did it, and he delivered an
absolute dime to Evans. Two receivers to his left tight
ends lined up on the line. He's back to passo.

(44:11):
Adam Moon hangs in throws this one deep bright side.
It is up and incomplete, looking in the back corner
of the right end zone there to raith Bauer, the
backup tight end, but overthrew him. Raith Bauer has kind
of gone through the tight end slash full back. I
don't know what you call it, roller coaster, whatever you
call it. Throughout his tenure here at Stout, he is
now a junior out of Mondovi, and now a flag

(44:33):
is on the play, a late flag throne. I didn't
see it there right on the yard line. They're calling
holding here on the Blue Devils on that plane. So
instead of third and four, it's gonna be second and
fourteen here for Stout as they march back to the
thirty seven yard line of the Blue Hawks. Now twelve
fifty nine to go here in the second quarter, no

(44:53):
score between Stout and Dickinson state Stout again, it's sort
of a somewhat cross win, somewhat at their wind as well,
it's pretty strong, so you like Luke Cool's chances here
with the wind at his back a little more here
moving right to left here in the second quarter, we'll
see if Stout gets to that point. Mowen takes the snap,
looking left for some running room. There's nothing there trying
to run with it, and the Blue Hawks saw it,

(45:14):
wrapped it up. Heartwell was there along with Williams again.
And Williams, one of the backup linebackers with three total
tackles coming in, has made a couple of nice plays
on this drive. Is now he'll be switched out here
for a passing down coming up for Stout. Third and
fifteen here for the Blue Devils from their own thirty
eight yard apartment from the Blue Hawk thirty eight yard line.

(45:36):
Rather again, they need to get down to about the
twenty three for a first down. As Mowen looks over
to the sideline with a five receiver set, three receivers
right to left, nobody in motion as of yet. Evans
in the slot to the left, Corkoran and the slot
to the right, so Zuka is out wide right. Mowen
back to pass, looks over the middle, throws it hard,
caught at the twenty five and Corkoran trying to spin

(45:57):
out of a tackle driving the left the ext rapper
down of the twenty one yard line. He got the
first down. He was wrapped up about a yard short
and he just kept churning his legs and Corkoran pushes
his defender all the way down to the twenty one
yard line. He needed fifteen. He got sixteen because Patrick
Corkran would not be denied there. And it's first and

(46:19):
ten here for Stout. Want to throw right over the middle,
Adimo and looking a lot better than he did last week.
He wonder if the coaching kind of got to him.
They said, hey, let's go. You need to get it together,
and that's what he has done here today. Two receivers left,
one out to the right, two tight ends, Caleb tim
lined up on the right side, Tucker Hackinson, the receiver
lined up behind him on the right. They fake the

(46:40):
Handoffy'll go out to Hackinson, He'll make the catch at
the twenty. One makes a move at the twenty and
then Spintens threw a tackle down to about the seventeen
yard line on the far hash mark a gain of three,
maybe four. We'll give it three to the eighteen yard
line on that right side. Second and seven coming up
here for stout eleven eight left to play. You're in

(47:02):
quarter number two, second and five or second and seven,
excuse me for the Blue Devils at the eighteen yard
line of the Blue Hawks. Second time they've been in
the red zone. They came up empty the first time
with the missed field goal. Need to convert here is again.
They only went one touchdown in three chances last week
against Carol up the middle to Hughes. He was owing
ankle tackle saves a day right at the line of scrimmage.

(47:25):
He looked like he was off to the races. Matt
Anderson the senior, though, makes the tackle just at the
last moment, a gain of one to the seventeen yard
Line'll be third and about six here for Stout. Their
market at third and five. Yeah, it is third and
six in our official stat system. That seems more right
here than what they've got on the scoreboard as well.

(47:47):
But third and six the case here for the Blue Devils.
They need to get it inside the twelve to about
the eleven for a first down. With Adam On in
the shotgun. He's got two receivers left, two to the right,
and to his left is the tailback. As he is
back to passers, whistles and a timeout. Stot didn't like
the setup, and they took a time out right before uh,
the snap was taken. It's a good dramatic pause here.

(48:08):
We'll take a break as well. Third and six for
Stout in the red zone. No score ten oh seven
to go in the second be back right after this
here on your home for blue doubles football.

Speaker 11 (48:17):
Let's use a football metaphor in your home. You're the quarterback, now,
who would you want in your front line? Half fault? No,
the fearsome form, brain, hail, wind and snow and blow
rate throw an ass ball line. For real protection, you
want be Yorks Fran Metal roofing because hit after hit,
year after year, be Yorks Frand Metal Roofing will keep

(48:40):
you protected with a fifty year non pro rated and
transferable warranty.

Speaker 5 (48:44):
Two three seven twenty six seventy eight.

Speaker 8 (48:50):
This is UW Stout football on News Talk wm EQ.

Speaker 3 (48:57):
He welcome back in here to Dickinson's university. Here in
western North Dakota is UW Stout and Dickinson have no
score through about twenty minutes a game. Place ten oh
seven left to go, second quarter, third and five coming
up for Stout. South took a time out. Make sure
they have the right play in before they run it
here again. They need to get to just inside the
twelve yard line for a first down in Blue Hawk territory.

(49:20):
Two receivers left, two right s nap taken by mow
and looks over the middle, continues to look, launches back
corner of the end zone. It's up I in complete
off the fingertips of Ben Carls again. The punter, who
is also a backup receiver as well, just a little
bit too strong again the wind at his back. It
was pretty good coverage here from McLoughlin, but at the
same time it was single coverage, and if the ball
had been thrown at the right spot, you wonder if

(49:42):
Carl's could have made that play. So instead, it'll be
fourth and five here. Stout will take the field goal attempt.
This ball much more in the middle of the hash
marks right to left, with the win behind the back.
Maybe a little bit of a hook wind here for
Luke Cool, the right footed kicker. This is an attempt
of thirty four yardards as right in the middle hash

(50:03):
mark good snap this time, the hold was good. The
kick is up at certainly long enough and it is
well through as Stout takes the lead. Three nothing over
Dickinson sate nine fifty eight left to play here in
the second quarter. We're back right after this here on
your home for Blue Devils Football.

Speaker 3 (51:00):
The Blue Devils scoring the first points of this game
as they march it downfield and take a three to
nothing lead on the thirty four yard field goal by
Luke Cool. And a nice drive for the Blue Devils
there marching it downfield and again come with a sixty
three yard nine play drive that took almost seven minutes

(51:20):
of gameplay as well in this end of the first
quarter into the second quarter, so Stouts had their defense
on the sideline resting up. You're ready for this next
drive coming up from the Bluehawks as they lead three
to nothing. Here with nine to fifty eight left to
go in the second quarter, White Water up fourteen to nothing.
Rather in their game against Roosevelt Is. Here comes a

(51:43):
run up for Luke Cool and the kick will be
taking a couple of yards deep in the end zone,
and they are going to return this one to the
ten to the fifteen far side between the hash and
the numbers, and cord the sideline to the twenty yard
line on the return there for Ivan Austrey, and he'll
be marked down at the nineteen line. So should have
probably taken the down as most coaches will recommend, but

(52:05):
they wanted to try to get a good return instead,
they start at their own nineteen. So Whitewater up in
their game. Co is leading UWO Claire twenty one to
seven at halftime of their game. Early third quarter. Lacrosse
is up on Division two's Northern Michigan in lacrosse today
down at Roger Herring Stadium, Oshkotch with the lead on

(52:25):
Linfield fourteen to ten, two thirty six left to go
second quarter. That's a sneaky good game in terms of
the just National Division three slate of games. Here today,
Madler pump fakes now rolls right, gets away from the
pressure here for Stout throws it to the right side
incomplete through the hands of his intended receiver Kyle Minike
here on a first and ten, make it second and

(52:45):
ten for the Bluehawks. He was talking about how again Dickinson,
North Dakota came up with the Northwood League team for
this year. Their field is right next to the football
field here in Dickenson, so that ballfield which has all
field turf, nice complex here and where they really come

(53:07):
together as a town here in Dickinson, home of or
at least one of the homes of Teddy Roosevelt here
on the western side of North Dakota. As a man
in motion goes braydon zerof left. Now right the running back.
They look to him. Now they're going to set a
screen up left sides and misdirection here catch made at
the twenty and to the twenty three, twenty four to
twenty five, and now a late flag comes in as

(53:27):
kind of lowering his head on that catch out there
with CJ. Stinson, And you wonder if this is like
a if this is a helmet to helmet targeting, But
I don't really think it was. The Blue Devils. He
just kind of ran right into him. This has to
be a holding call, I'd imagine, because the Blue Dovels
just kind of standing there to make the tackle, and
I think that he kind of initiated the contact there.

(53:50):
But they're taking a long time to talk about this,
which I don't think is good. Mini Key as the
man with the catch there on that left side. Let's
see what the call is, nine thirty six to go,
it'll be third and about six here, depending on the
penalty personal foul hands to the face on the Blue Hawks,

(54:10):
and so they're going to repeat the down and this
is going to come back half the distance to the
goal as well. So it's going to be second and
forever here for the Blue Hawks. When they mark them back.
Let's see what the final spot is here as they
continue to march them back. It's going to be the
just about the twelve yard line, so second and sixteen
we'll call it the thirteen officially here for the blue Hawks,

(54:33):
back marching backwards as Stout leads three to nothing here
with nine to twenty seven to go in the second quarter,
second and sixteen here for Will Mandler and company. One
receiver left couple out to the right, takes a snap.
He will fake the handoff, rolling right, looking to throw
deep near sighted, is up and bobbled. It is incomplete,
unable to come up with it down to the ground.

(54:54):
It's the intended receiver Dawson Goodman in on the coverage
and the receiver was their return man there and Ivan Austrey,
who could not kind of secure that catch to the ground,
went off the hands, but it was right on the
sideline and kind of doing trying to do the toe tap,
and that ball clearly squirted out before he was able
to get any kind of possession in bounds, and especially

(55:16):
when he hit the turf as well. And so now
third and forever, Third and sixteen here from their own
thirteen yard line, got to get almost to the thirty
yard line for a first down. Just before the thirty
yard line twenty nine is where the first down marker is.
They send a man of motion left to right across
the formation. That's Samage Clark back to pass. He goes
looking over the middle. Here is Maddler. He launches it

(55:37):
near side and incomplete. He comes up about five yards
short of CJ. Stinson there, who just kind of fell
on his out route and again into the wind. I
think that affected Maddler's pass. That ball just died when
he threw it. It's incomplete. Fourth and sixteen here for
Dickinson's sate, they've got a punt into the wind deep
in their own territory with nine to eight left to
go in this second quarter. So stouts should, barring any

(56:00):
kind of craziness, here should have pretty good field position.
And when they receive this Patrick Corkan actually standing at
the forty five of Dickinson State, assuming this one isn't
going to go very far, here comes the punt. Blue
devils are bringing the pressure. He will point to where
that ball lands. Oh, it took a beautiful Stout boundce
so they're going to doubt it at the thirty yard line.
It landed at about the Dickinson State thirty seven or

(56:21):
so and then went backwards the old fifty two degree
wedge there just backed right up and Stout's going to
have amazing field position. That was only about a net
about a seventeen yard punt in the end there for
ty Nelson and Stout's got a great chance to potentially
take a two score lead up three to nothing on

(56:43):
Dickinson State. Nine minutes to go here in this second quarter,
first and ten from the near hash mark on the
thirty yard line for Adam Owning Company, Ben Tolkienen is
his tailback. The receivers are all bunched up near the lines.
Azoka left, Evans right, offset right and left. They'll fake
the handoff. Moen going to roll to his right, looking

(57:03):
to launch this one deep for the end zone, back
corner of it. It's up and it's incomplete, and the
wind just took that one. He's looking for Evans and
that ball was thrown through the back of the end zone.
Evans was, I don't know, a yard or two deep
in the end zone, and that ball just continued to sail.
So I think this is an adjustment process for both
quarterbacks when they're with the wind or against it, to
kind of figure out, you know what, you know, how

(57:27):
many yards basically it adds when you're behind you, how
many how many yards it takes off when you're into it.
And we saw both quarterbacks. It looks like it's about
what six seven yards that it adds or takes away
from the last couple of throws. We've seen stout receivers
all lining up behind Mohen, who looked like he was
under center, and now they all split out two to
the right, two tight ends left, Tolkien in the tailbacks

(57:49):
second and ten. The handoff goes to Tokeinen gets past
the initial line but not much more as he gets
up near the twenty seven on the lunge tackle was
made by Riley Waters on the play, and he'll get
two to the twenty eight yard line, so third and eight.
I mean, Saut's got to take advantage of this great

(58:09):
field position. They just got to figure out a way
to make this happen. Here. South's gonna get up to
the line quickly, one receiver left, two to the right
and A Mowen the hard count here sixteen seconds left
on the play clock. Now they'll look back to the
sideline to take over here now, any I I didn't
ask the coaches about this, should have thought about it.
But of course NCAA now has those green dots where

(58:29):
you can communicate. We have that technology Williams Stadium. Not
sure they have that here in Dickinson back to pass
his moan. He wants to launch this one deep left side.
It's up and again overthrown for Hockinson, who is streaking
to the back corner of the end zone, and Mowen
just has not figured out how to adjust to this
win that has at his back. As he's overthrown. A
bunch of receivers moving right to left basically as you

(58:52):
listen here at home, however, do we have a flag
sure enough holding on Stout? This is an interesting one.
Gonna decline this And basically, I mean it's gonna be
a long field goal. But if you accepted it and
you got an incompletion or you know, didn't get many yards,
you basically are kicking Stout out of field goal range.
So instead fourth and eight and I imagine you're gonna

(59:15):
run Luke Cool out there, and sure enough, here comes
the field goal unit here for Stout. So I mean
he's got a bit of a hook wind at his back.
He's on the near hash right to left, so he's
gonna probably have to aim this one at the far
upright and kind of let this ball tail back in.
He certainly has the leg. This is a forty five
yard attempt here for Luke Cool. Is long in his

(59:36):
career as forty seven snap spot kick is up, It's
long enough and it is straight through the middle. Baby
six to nothing. Blue Devils with the lead as two
Luke Cool field goals have sound up six to nothing.
Here was seven fifty nine left to go in the
second quarter. We take a break be back right after
this on Who's Talk wm EQ.

Speaker 3 (01:00:37):
A forty five yard field goal from Lake Cool has
the Blue Devil's up six to nothing right now on
Dickinson State as are about at the halfway mark of
the second quarter here today. A couple other scores I'll
let you know of in Stout sports men's soccer down
one nothing right now at home a Nelson field at
the moment to north central is the kickoff from McCool
run out of the back of the end zone and

(01:00:58):
this will be brought out to the twenty five yard
line for Dickinson Sate to start to start their next drive.
One nothing lead for North Central over Stout and men's
soccer about they're entering about the sixty eighth minute of
that matchup in women's soccer. Women's soccer are at Bethel
today and they're in the eighty second minute there. Bethel
is up one to nothing on the Blue Devils there

(01:01:19):
and volleyball for Stout. They're taking part in the Whitewater
Tournament today. Have two matches. They lost their first got
swept against Milliken. They have Concordia University of Wisconsin down
at Whitewater at around four o'clock today, so we'll keep
you up to date on that as we can. Here
are the Blue Hawks back out on offense. Cent amn
of motion left to right that Stintson across the line,
hand off up the gut and not a whole lot

(01:01:41):
again starting at the twenty five yard line on the touchback,
maybe a yard there for Braden Zeroff, who has not
had much doing from a rushing standpoint here today. He'll
get one second and nine coming up here for Dickinson
State Blue Devils with one hundred and forty one yards
a total offense eighty two for Dickenson State here today.
Zerof it only has seven yards on five attempts at

(01:02:04):
the moment, and Will Madler here the quarterback six of
eleven for seventy four yards and one interception, no touchdowns
for him today. One receiver left one right here for
the blue Hawks. Back to pass is again Maddler. He
throws left side, caught at the thirty thirty five streaking
sideline in the Stout territory. Do you step out of bound?
Zerof makes the catch out of the backfield, and he

(01:02:24):
stepped out of bounds a while ago. Here he stepped
out all the way back at the blue Hawk forty
one yard line. Looked like he almost had the fifty,
but to give him the forty one. So it ends
up being, i mean, still a pretty good gain of
about twenty yards and a probably about fifteen yards in
a first down here for Dickinson State at their own

(01:02:45):
forty one yard line, Stout up six nothings, seven minutes
left to play in the clock running here in the
second half, the throw left side that one is bat
at an almost intercepted Richie Murphy leaping up on the
left side coming in from a cornerback blitz and wasn't
gonna get to Maddler in time, so it just gets
off his feet, gets his arms in the air, deflects it.

(01:03:05):
And then the deflection went toward the middle of the
field and Stout almost had somebody nearby to make that
catch in the line backing crew. But again, tough to
make that reaction like that, and it's incomplete. Six fifty
eight left to go. Second quarter, second and ten. Now
for the Blue Hawks at their own forty one yard line,
need to get it into Stout territory to the forty
nine for a first down. Fox stopped his Maddler in

(01:03:29):
the shotgun. He's got one receiver left, two out to
the right, looks left nothing there now looking over the middle, nothing,
They're gonna run with it to the forty five and
he's close to the first down. Think he got a
yard short. Oh, that's a really good spot. His hip
was down, I thought, in Blue Hawk territory and the
ball probably around the fifty and they mark it all
the way to the Stout forty nine. But the game
an extra yard on that play. That is a really

(01:03:51):
good spot for Dickinson State and a really awful spot
first out and he was down a yard in front
of that and instead, it's a ten yard scramble in
a first down. Is okay, that is what it is.
We'll just let that be and off we go. So
first and ten into south territory of the forty nine
yard line. Three receivers right, one left here for Madler

(01:04:13):
as they look to move it deeper into south territory,
have a chance to get on the board. Here they
do the fake throw and fake handoff. R either they
throw it too hi, it's picked off by Goodman. He's
to the fifty to the forty near sideline of the
thirty and he'll be rushed out of bounds at the
twenty five yard line. Second interception of the game for
the Blue Devils, and it's Gavin Goodman, the sophomore who
had a great first game in the stout uniform last week,

(01:04:34):
and he just sailed that one too high. Was trying
to get it to Stinson over the middle on the
Reid option for Madler. The fake handoff sails it right
into the arms of the cornerback Gavin Goodman on the
nearer side, and Goodman was off to a foot race
and luckily for the Blue Hawks, a couple of their
linemen and taken a good angle there toward the sideline.
We're able to just kind of angle him out of bounds.
But the second interception of the game thrown by Madler

(01:04:56):
and the Blue Devils are in business. Adam moment coming
back out lead the squad here again five of twelve
with eighty six yards so far in the game, no
touchdowns for the Blue Devils is eight lead six to nothing.
Two field goals on the board. Three receivers left bunch
there and one on the right corkorand goes in motion.
They will give the handoff your left side to the

(01:05:17):
twenty to the fifteen falling ford is Dylan Nelson. Nelson
with a nice run there to the left side, and
he'll pick up a good chunk of what the Blue
Devils needed there about six yards and it's second and
four here for sound on the near hash mark right
to left with the wind at their backs. Interesting to
see what the Blue Hawks are going to do in

(01:05:39):
the second half if they'll want their win at their
backs in the third or the fourth quarter. Remember sout's
going to receive the ball to apartment will kick the
ball rather to start the second half, So Blue Hawks, Rather,
I'm going to do the Duhawks. Every time I think
for the University of Dubuque with the Bluehawks, We'll get
the ball to start the second half, man in motion
as Corkoran Mowen looks right nothing there now, throws it

(01:06:01):
over the middle incomplete, trying to find Bennett Letcher, a
senior receiver who had two receptions last week, and kind
of threw it at his ankles. You kind of get
the feeling out of Moans a little bit. He's still
trying to figure out the wind because he just can't
put as much juice on these throws with the wind
at his back, and that timing's got to be perfect

(01:06:23):
the closer you get to the end zone. Here ball
at the fifteen after the incompletion five to sixteen to
go here in the second quarter Stout six, Dickinson nothing
and third and four they need the eleven yard line
for a first down. That return from Goodman got him
all the way to the twenty one is once again
Mowen in the shotgun sends a man in motion that

(01:06:43):
is turner from left to right. He's going to take
it himself. He's got a hole initially, and he lunges
forward across the fifteen he's lunges up near the ten
and I think he's got the first down. Sure enough,
they're gonna give him the ten yard line on a
five yard scramble and it's first in goal here for
the Blue Devils, right at the ten yard line and
knocking on the doorstep here of Dickinson State. Good rush

(01:07:04):
there from Mowing Owing with twelve yards rushing so far
in the game. Again five of thirteen though through the air,
and again I think a lot of those incompletions you
can chalk up to the wind here today in Dickinson,
North Dakota. Pretty tight set once again, two tight ends
left and right, and the receivers bunched up. You've got

(01:07:24):
Zazolka on one side, and on the right side you've
got Hockinson. The running back is Turner, and they will
give it to Turner running right up the finds a
whole right side at the line of scrimmage that he
cops up the ball at the five, cops it up
at the five, and we got to scramble for the
ball and the Blue Hawks habit unbelievable rehes. Turner loses
the ball and the Blue Hawks habit at the five

(01:07:45):
yard line it'll be first and ten here for Dickenson State,
and you just the mistakes that you can't make, and
we just saw too many of them last week for
the Blue Devils. They've had some explosive plays here today,
a couple of interceptions when they needed them. But that
is just an unforced air down near the goal line.
Turner with a great run and yeah, see you put

(01:08:07):
the helmet on him there. I think it was coming
across the play. I want to say that that was
Shelle Osborne who actually forced the fumble coming from the
side as a linebacker, and so Turner with the fumble.
And this will have Madler Backett quarterback standing in his
own end zone here in the shotgun ball at the

(01:08:28):
five yard line. They'll hand it off on the read option.
Not much there though, across the five to about the
seven yard line goes to tailback there in zerof you'll
get two second and eight coming up here for Dickenson State.
Six to nothing stout, four to eleven left to go,
second quarter, and if the Blue Hawks can convert a
first down or two, this could very easily be the
last drive we see of the first half. Remember at halftime,

(01:08:52):
Adam Mohen our starting quarterback is our halftime guest as well.
It was good conversation with him earlier this week, so
stay tuned for that. All that coming up as part
of our half time shows. They're off, we'll get the
handoff moving right now, cuts that he's to the ten,
maybe the eleven as he is tackled on the side
by Sidel. Also Nate rewaald in to help on the
stop as well. Goodman was up close to the pile

(01:09:15):
also for the Blue Devils, and a couple of yards
on the play gets them to the eleven. It'll be
third and four here for the Blue Hawks from their
own eleven yard line. They don't seem terribly content to
run quickly here. I think they want to burn some
clock just so in case they don't convert the third
down that they don't give the ball back to the
Blue Devils with a ton of time three to twenty
in the clock ticking left to play. Here in the
second quarter stout six, Dickenson state nothing maddler in the shotgun.

(01:09:39):
One receiver left two out to the right, fakes the handoff,
rolls right now, throws it is caught but not enough
by his tight end. Hule he'll be a yard or
two short and about the twelve maybe the twelve and
a half yard line, And yeah, I don't think you
can go from it for this spot. I mean, they
want to go. It's fourth and a long one. You
just can't. I mean, I know you want to, but
if you don't get them, it's fourth two actually is

(01:10:01):
what they'll call it. If you don't get it, you're
basically letting the stouts score. I mean, you just can't
do it. And I know it's stuff, especially when you're
into the win. You're thinking, well, this punt's not gonna
go very far, so why not? But just a not
a good decision. I think if you go for the
whole team got kind of their shoulders shrunk. Is the
decision to punt came out, But it's the right call.

(01:10:21):
Ty Nelson's standing in his own end zone right about
at the goal line as the ball is at the
thirteen yard line, ready to punt, and it's a good
snap kick us up and it looks like a decent
punt here. It's actually gonna now get knocked down by
the wind and down at about the forty yard line
as one of the gunners will come up and make
the stop, make the grab. Rather for the Blue Hawks,
that was Dawson's are off again, the brother of Braden's

(01:10:44):
are off who will make the down at about the
forty yard line. So again it's good field position for Stout.
But again they just can't cough it up like Turner
did on that last drive. They need to figure out
a way to convert this drive. Too many field goals
not enough touch downs right now for the Blue Devils.
And look, you're trying to win this game as well.
But you know, we in the media and we who

(01:11:05):
follow this team, we think about beyond just this game.
And what you're thinking about is, Hey, when you're playing
Whitewater and when you're playing Oshkosh, and when you're playing
Lacrosse and River Falls, the'se got to be touchdowns, right
these kinds of drives. So the ball at the forty one,
Patrick Corkoran goes in motion left to right, the handoff
goes up the gut here and a couple of yards
for Dylan Nelson across the forty to about the thirty

(01:11:27):
eight give him three yards on the play tackle made
by Riley Waters, the junior who has came into the
game had thirteen total tackles, one of the team's leaders
in that court category, in fact, the team leader in
total tackles coming in second and seven here for Stout,
and there is a whistle and the old two minute
warning in college football, right two minute timeout which is

(01:11:49):
new to the Kyle dranks this season, so that two
minute timeout will take a break six to nothing Stout
with the lead here on Dickinson State second and seven
at the Dickinson State thirty eight. That's coming up right
after this run your home for Blue Doubles football.

Speaker 8 (01:12:02):
I was down on my luck. My car was a

Speaker 14 (01:12:10):

Speaker 3 (01:12:14):

Speaker 15 (01:12:18):
I got a great deal, the.

Speaker 8 (01:12:20):
Lowest of double.

Speaker 3 (01:12:23):
The Auto King is the only way to go.

Speaker 8 (01:12:31):
This is UW. Stout Football on Newstalk wm EQ.

Speaker 3 (01:12:38):
Welcome back in. Here are two Dickinson State out of
the two minute timeout here in the new to the
college ranks in twenty twenty four in football, and similar
to the two minute warning, and with two minutes left
here in the first half, its second and seven for
Stout at the Dickinson State thirty eight yard line, six
nothing the Blue Devils with the lead on the Dickinson
State Blue Hawks. Again. Adam Moon, our halftime guest guy

(01:13:00):
who has had a couple touchdowns coming into the season,
used as kind of a tailback sometimes an extra quarterback.
Is he's gonna throw it out right side catch made
by Evans at the thirty five, maybe the thirty four.
We'll see where they give him Ford progress to. Why
are they mark them at the thirty six? I mean
he caught that ball to thirty four. That's a terrible spot.
I mean that's two yards behind where he caught it,

(01:13:23):
and then he got tackled backwards out of bounds. Like
have we heard of Ford progress or not? I guess not.
So they're gonna mark him two yards shorter than that.
They're gonna stop the clock though, as he got out
of bounds. Three receivers left, two right here empty backfield
for Mowen. It's third and about five here for Stout
at the thirty six of the Blue Hawks. Back to
pass looks right the entire way, steps up, he's gonna run,

(01:13:45):
looks like he's got the first down. Stay's on his
feet across the thirty and then falls across the thirty eight.
He got hit right near the line to gain by
Brooks Talbot and then just kind of rolled off that
tackle and fell over for a first down. A nice
run there by anam Mowen again our halftime guess, and
off he goes to get the first down with his legs.
This is a good time to rely on his legs again.

(01:14:06):
The great running quarterbacks in the Wyak especially are the
ones who know when to run and no when not to.
Mowen ran too much last week. This week seems to
be a little bit more discerning with that a pump
fake here looks left now he's going to step up
and run to the right side, gets away from the
tackle to the twenty five to twenty down the far sideline.
He runs out of bounds inside the fifteen yard line

(01:14:26):
to the thirteen yard line and a big pick up
there for anam Mohen of twelve and it's a first
down for Stout as they are on the march here
in deep into Dickinson State territory. A fifteen yard run
officially four plays already on this drive. They're to the
thirteen yard line of Dickinson State Bho Devils have scored
on two field goals, a thirty four yarder and a

(01:14:47):
forty five yarder. Who Cools also missed a field goal
into the win today too, so they've had a bunch
of field goal opportunities but haven't punched it in yet.
Could this be the drive? One sixteen to go? Clock
stopped as Mowen got out of bounds on the scramble.
One receiver left, one right, two tight ends here for
Stout it is Hughes as the tailback and the pistol

(01:15:08):
at the thirteen and a whistle here, Either there's a
false starter or Talbot got way into the backfield way
too quickly there for Dickinson State, trying to time out
the play, time out the snap, and they're gonna say
that somebody on the left side of the line false
started there. I thought that maybe that was the old,

(01:15:31):
you know, defensive player caused the false starting the neutral
zone type of deal. But they're gonna say that Talbot
stayed back long enough and it was a false start
by the offensive line, calling on Ben Biscol the left tackle.
First and fifteen. Now, as Stout backs up to the
eighteen yard line of Dickinson State, clock remains stop, Hughes
goes in motion, Mowen looks to pass toward the back

(01:15:53):
corner of the end zone left side down cut, touchdown
Blue Devils. Tucker Hawkinson at the goal line, a little
bit of separation from Joey DeMarco to strong safety and
right at the goal line, goes down, makes the catch
thrown in a perfect spot right where no one else
could get there, and Mowen just lays it on him
for the score. An eighteen yard pass and catch at

(01:16:14):
the goal line for Tucker Hawkinson on the near side,
and it's now twelve to nothing Blue Devils with one
eleven left to go here in the second quarter, cool
On to attempt the extra point. Called timeout. Blue Devils
are calling a time out here. I think they want
to discuss whether they want to go for two in
this situation, and they've got timeouts to burn. That was

(01:16:37):
their second time out, still have one more. So while
they take that time out, we'll just keep it right here.
We'll take a break after the two point or the
extra point. Try some scores again from around the area code.
With a twenty eight to fourteen leed On Euclaire four
to forty six left to go, in the third quarter
of their game. Lacrosse is all over Northern Michigan thirty
five to fourteen. Now, Northern Michigan's had some issues the

(01:16:58):
last few years in Division two in the Gleeact. But
still you're beating a gleeac team by three touchdowns. That's
I mean, lacrosse is for real, folks. Oshkosh with a
fourteen to thirteen lead on Linfield. Lynnfield kind of sneaking
up in toward the top twenty five polls. Blueto or
that part of the WAYAK rather four teams than the
top twenty five coming into this weekend's play. They got

(01:17:20):
a lot of really really good talent as always, But
the WAYAK is again that the sec of Division III.
If you will that game at halftime with Oshkosh up
by one again, there's one other game coming up tonight
now that is Platteville hosting debuke. Initially called a one
o'clock game, but it is a seven o'clock game tonight,
down a platfull all right out of the time out,
Soud is gonna, in fact go for two. Adam Wuhan

(01:17:41):
going to roll to his right here he's got Corcoran
makes the catch spins out of a tackle, lunging for
the end zone. He did not get their good job
containing that one by the Bluehawks. They just did not
get Patrick Corkoran into have him catch that in a
way where he could kind of turn toward the end zone.
He comes up limping a little bit as well, and
that is certainly not a signed for the Blue Devils.

(01:18:01):
But he is walking off under his own power. Let's
hope that Patrick Corkran is okay. But in the end,
just a touchdown, no extra point, twelve to nothing. Stout
with the league. We'll come back in thirty seconds here
on News Talk WMQ.

This is UW. Stout Football on newstalk w mEq.

Speaker 3 (01:18:54):
All that time out before the two point miss from
Stout apparently inspire the officials to get this kickoff going
way which is already through the back of the end
zone from Luke Cool. So it touchback to bring Dickinson
State out to their own twenty five. A twelve nothing
lead here for Stout. On Dickinson State in the second
game of the season here in twenty twenty four, in
the second non conference game. They'll have one more coming

(01:19:16):
up against Northwestern out of Saint Paul next week out
of the UMAC again. The Blue Devils with that drive,
go downfield again, good field position, starting at their own
forty or at the Blue Hawk forty one, go down,
get the touchdown to Tucker Hawkinson as back to run.
Here is Maddler running lefts got a hold to the
thirty and then is wrapped up at the thirty two,
got hit hard when he kind of spun out of

(01:19:39):
a tackle at the thirty and then driven to the ground,
buying the strong safety Dawson Goodman. Goodman gonna be a
good player here for stout for a while. Fifty five
fifty four fifty three left to play here in the
second round. There's movement that'll be a false start now
under two minutes. Let's see if Dickinson State wants to
burn a time out, because if they don't, they'll be
a ten second runoff. Clock right now is at fifty

(01:19:59):
one one seconds. As a matter of what the officials
and what Dickinson State wants to do here, but this
is a false start, and the question is does Dickinson
State want to burn a time out to stop the
ten second runoff? Officials are talking to Dickinson State right
now about what they want to do, but it is
a false start with the clock running again, that necessitates

(01:20:22):
that runoff. Unless you burn a time out, you can
save that ten seconds. So it does a false start
right side of the line, Brandon Bennick, And so Dickinson State,
I believe has elected to take the time out to
avoid the runoff here. Oh no, they have not. They're
going to take the runoff, so it'll be second and
eight and it will be forty one seconds instead of
fifty one seconds. They'll have to adjust that here on

(01:20:45):
the game clock in the facility, got to pick up
the flags who that will certainly help. Blue Hawks are
now looking to the side. Are they going to burn
the time out? Now? Everybody's just kind of standing around
looking at each other. Officials are standing around looking at
each other as well. For some reason, they have not

(01:21:05):
moved the clock down from fifty one seconds, So maybe
they're just burning the time out and not actually taking it.
I think Clay Birmingham is wondering what just happened here.
He's asking the officials to go over and talk about this,
and he's going to get the line judge to come
and give him an explanation for why there wasn't a runoff.
And maybe they just did burn a time out and

(01:21:27):
just didn't really take the time to do it. I
think that's what happened here. So two receivers left, two
to the right here for Madler on second and eight
from his own twenty seven yard line, back to pass,
looking looking nothing there now, throws it over the middle.
Oh and it's dropped dropped at the thirty six yard
line by CJ. Stinson, who had some space just kind
of an in route that he ran from the far side,
and it's got to be good timing. I thought it
was a pretty good thrill, kind of down near his thighs,

(01:21:49):
but still a catch he's got to make incomplete. Four
seconds run off the clock. Forty seven seconds remain here
in the first half and now a third and eight
faced by the Bluehawks. Stout's got one time out left.
If this is you know, if it's an incompletion, stops
the clock. Stouts got it. Definitely a shot, especially with
the wind at their backs, to do something here. If not,

(01:22:10):
they may burn that time out if they don't convert here.
If it's on the field to play. Let's see Maddler
back to pass looking over the middle now wants to
launch this one deep left side. It's up and in
incomplete down the far sideline for Stints and you can
tell that's the guy they want to go to. Dawson
Goodman was in coverage and just never gonna get him there.
Dawson Goodman was raped all over him as well, thrown
a little bit far past him, and that's gonna stop

(01:22:31):
the clock. So forty two seconds left and a timeout
remaining here for Stout and again depending on what the punt.
I mean, this punt could be terrible, and you could
see the Blue Devils easily have some good field position
and maybe again try to get it into field goal
arrange for Luke cool who's made on forty five once
this game already. Here's a snap. Stout's gonna bring the pressure,

(01:22:52):
don't get to him. It's a short punt taken at
the forty five yard line of Stout and now run
up the right side by not Patrick Corkran again as
he had been hurt. He gets it across the fifty
up to the forty eight yard line. Let's see who
they got on the return there. I believe that's Gavin Goodman. Yeah,
Gavin Goodman, the backup punt returner, makes the return of
about seven maybe eight yards into Blue Hawk territory. A

(01:23:15):
little bit of a concerning sign that Patrick Corkan isn't
in there. And I can see him on the table
on the far sideline. No stands over there on the
far sideline. It's all the grand stand here in Dickinson
on the near sideline. But he's on the trainer's table.
I mean he's sitting there. He doesn't look like he's
in a ton of pain, but he got rolled up
on on that two point attempt. Hopefully he'll be all right.

(01:23:36):
But a chance here for Stout to add to the
lead twelve to nothing. They lead thirty three seconds remain.
They've got one time out remaining. First and ten from
the Dickinson State forty eight yard line. Mowen back to
pass four man rush, looks up, steps up, gets the
end of the pressure, and he sacked and pulled backwards
at the forty yard line. He was stopped about the
forty three is where I think they initially made the contact.

(01:23:56):
Why are they marking it at the forty I mean,
are there different rules in the ANAI? I mean he's
literally wrapped up at the forty three yard line. That's
where I mean, that's where it's got That's where the
pressure's got to stop. Like, that's where the ball's got
to get placed. They marked them to the forty I
mean that's a three yards more than it should have been.
Adam Mohen, Now nine seconds with eight seconds are gonna
hard count. They're just gonna let the clock run down

(01:24:18):
and everybody's gonna be content to go in the halftime
locker room, so that the extra three yards doesn't matter
in the end, but the spotting of the ball has
been a little suspect here today in Dickinson. Nonetheless, that
will take a twelve nothing lead to the halftime locker
room and we'll again see the Blue Devils have played
very well. They've definitely outplayed the Blue Hawks today thus far.

(01:24:41):
Let's take a couple of minutes. We'll come back at

twelve to nothing. They leaded over Dickinson stayed all twelve

with the win at their back. Skan Pekanotson with you

(01:27:44):
Claire and iHeartRadio station Again. It took a little while
for the Blue Doubles to get going, but Stout would
score on three separate drives. It would get their first
points of the game on a drivet that started in
the first quarter, but it ended up being an eight
minute and fifty seven second drive, which I don't really

(01:28:05):
know how that happens when you only run nine plays,
but they took a lot of time to run some
penalties and things like that that happened ended in a
thirty four yard field goal from Luke Cool. Then on
the next drive, the Blue Devils would score in just
a minute and one second on again, they got a
turnover that set them up pretty well and only got

(01:28:25):
two yards and three plays and would score another forty
five yard field goal from Luke Cool to make it
six to nothing with seven to fifty nine left to
go in the second quartern. With one eleven left to
go in the first half, the Blue doubles will get
their first touchdown of the game on an Adam Mohan
eighteen yard touchdown passed to Tucker Hawkinson to take the
twelve to nothing lead. The two point conversion was no

(01:28:46):
good and of no Patrick Corkoran did get hurt that
on that two point conversion attempt, so let's hope that
he didn't look terribly serious. But we didn't see him
return that last punt, so let's hope that he is
good to go here. If not today, then moving forward
this season, team stats look like this, Stout with eleven

(01:29:07):
first downs, Dickinson State with five. The Blue Devils ended
up going four of ten on third down in the
first half. Dickinson State just one of seven on first
down in the first half as well. Stout had one
hundred and ninety three yards of total offense. Dickinson State
had one hundred and twenty three one hundred and fourteen
yards through the air for Adam Mohen ninety one yards

(01:29:28):
through the air for Dickinson State on the ground. The
on the ground rather for the Blue Devils, they were
able to average about four yards per rush on twenty attempts,
and again a nice job for the rushing attack as well.
For the Blue Devils. Eight of sixteen was Adam Mohen

(01:29:49):
for one hundred and eight yards and a touchdown, no interceptions.
Will Maddler again with just six of fifteen for fifty
eight yards two picks as well. Not a good half
for Maddler here today so far. Chase Hughes rush for
thirty one yards in the first half for Stout twenty
three yards rushing for Adam Mohen. Reese Turner did have
five yards, but coughed up the ball as well on

(01:30:10):
the one rush that he did have. Dylan Nelson had
seventeen yards rushing on four attempts as well. DeVante Evans
got three passes for forty four yards. Carters Azoka had
a catch for twenty four Tucker Hawkinson had two catches,
one of them that eighteen yard touchdown, again the only
touchdown pass of this game. Patrick Corkran had two receptions
for nineteen yards. Again. Hopefully he is all right moving

(01:30:32):
forward as he was hurt on that two point conversion attempt. Again.
Will Madlers six of fifteen. He's also rushed for eighteen yards.
Stinson has thirty three yards rushing. Brandon Zeroff has fourteen yards. Rushing,
not a whole lot to talk about. There is again,
Dickinson State has been shut out in this first half,
So that's your halftime stats. We're gonna take a break.

(01:30:53):
When we come back, we'll have Adam Mohen. That's part
of our halftime show. After that, we'll get you the
scores from around the WIAC and other uw stout scores

Welcome in halftime coverage year of Stout versus Dickinson State,
and we are happily joined by the starting quarterback and
Adam Owen for the Blue Devils out of Lake Mills, Wisconsin.
And Adam appreciate you taking the time with us, and
let's talk a little bit about taking over the starting role.
Obviously you kind of sat in the wings a little
bit last year behind Mitch and to get ready for

(01:32:55):
this season and talk us through that. You know, what
was camp like, what was getting ready like? And obviously
now you have a game under your belt last week
against Carol. What's that whole process been like now being
kind of the head guy at the helm for this team,
at the quarterback spot, It's it's been fun.

Speaker 23 (01:33:13):
I mean, Paul, Cam's been a lot of fun. We've
been working through some kinks. We've been able to find
leaders on the team, and that was one of the
things I gotta I had to do this year to
step up and become a leader. Having that game under
our belt last week, obviously we came up with a loss,
which sucked, but nobody's uh, nobody's the first time starter anymore.

(01:33:37):
So we're onto the next game and we have a
game on our belt, So I'm excited.

Speaker 3 (01:33:42):
What the fun part about watching you, I think is,
is just kind of watching even in that first game,
some of your you know, progression and and and you
know kind of stepping up and you know, looking through
your progressions in terms of throwing and all that, and
and and running the ball, you run the ball really well.
Obviously you've got great legs. That's something that you've always
kind of tried to emphasize, just the fact that you

(01:34:02):
can kind of do you can be a quote unquote
dual threat quarterback because.

Speaker 1 (01:34:05):
It seems like you use that to your advantage pretty well.

Speaker 23 (01:34:09):
Yeah, I mean, I try to use it to my
advantage as best as I can. But I think one
thing I need to work on is really trusting the
pocket and sitting in there. I think I rushed myself
a lot of times, and obviously my legs have been
able to get me out of those situations sometimes, but
I got to just trust it and send the pocket
and deliver a throw most of the time.

Speaker 3 (01:34:31):
We know, too, that you've got some great guys to
throw to as well, some guys who've been around for
a while, and I think some guys who are really,
you know, kind of vocal leaders and heartbeats of the team.
Patrick comes to mind, right, One of those guys is
just kind of I mean, we see them at every
sporting event that pretty much is there into it. When
you got as good of receivers as you guys have,
and you've had them not only now, but when you

(01:34:51):
were a backup as well. Seeing some of the guys
come through like Arthur and other guys last year, what
does that do for you as a quarterback in terms
of confidence?

Speaker 1 (01:34:58):
Because you've got some great receivers on that on that crew, it.

Speaker 23 (01:35:01):
Makes it very easy to I mean just trust those guys.
I've been with them a long time. I know they're
gonna run the right route, do everything or correct and
like we mentioned before, building leaders. Those guys are great
leaders on the field off the field. But yeah, it's

(01:35:23):
I got great receivers and uh, they're really easy to trust.

Speaker 1 (01:35:29):
They certainly are.

Speaker 3 (01:35:29):
And you know, one of the things that I like
about you coming into this team is is, you know,
obviously coach gets guys from all over the place, but
being from Mike Mills, which is a pretty you know,
a solid program, and in the high school line of things,
talk about coming here to Stout. Obviously you're construction major
and wanting to choose that. So why did you come here?
Why did you want to play on this squad? And
talk us through a little bit of that, especially on

(01:35:50):
the academic side as well about you being a construction major.

Speaker 8 (01:35:53):
Yeah, I mean I came.

Speaker 23 (01:35:55):
Here mostly for the construction major. I knew that's what
I want to do, and then I took a visit
and Deebo greeted me and all the other coaches. They
made it really easy to like Monominee. Nominee is a
lot like Lake Mills in that aspect where it's it's

(01:36:15):
a small town and there's a lake. There's just there's
a lot of things to do. So it's even though
it's three and a half hours away from home, it
feels like another home to meet.

Speaker 3 (01:36:28):
Well, it's certainly been fun watching you through one game.
We're going to get the chance to watch all season long,
whether it's on the YAK networker on our radio broadcast
as well, So we appreciate taking the time.

Speaker 1 (01:36:39):
Adam, good luck throughout the course of this season and.

Speaker 19 (01:36:43):

means from a football standpoint. Meantime, the Packers listening quarterback
Jordan Love is questionable with a sprained MCL for Sunday's
game against the Colts. The same can be said about
Russell Wilson, who is also listed as questionable with a
calf injury ahead of their matchup against the Broncos, and
the forty nine Ers officially ruled out running back Christian
McCaffrey for the second straight week with the calf injury

(01:39:02):
and achilles tendonitis head coach Kyle Shanahan saying the team
is considering putting McCaffrey on injured reserve, which would mean
missing at least the next four games. This has been

This is UW Stout Football on News Talk wm e Q.

Speaker 3 (01:41:14):
Indeed, it is u W Stout football and it's a
good day so far for the Blue Devils ar through
one half against Dickinson State leading twelve to nothing against
the Bluehawks out of the Naias NSCC here today in
Western North Dakota. Happy along to have you along with
us here, Petekadutson with you once again bringing you the
road games of the Stout Blue Double football season here

(01:41:37):
on News Talk wm EQ this season again the home
games over on the YAX Sports Network as well. Again,
you just got to go YAC network dot com slash
Stout and you can find all the games there also.
So again, twelve to nothing lead for Stout here at halftime.
We'll get to a few more plays and stats from
this game in a moment, but let's take you around

(01:41:57):
the WIAC here today. Whitewater coming into today's game ranked
number six in the country. As they are again Whitewater
rather taking on Roosevelt. They are up twenty four to
fourteen on Roosevelt in Illinois, there were two fifty eight
left to go. Whitewater up ten with the ball, so
it looks like they've got a good chance to hold

(01:42:18):
on there. UW. Claire has spought back from down two
touchdowns to tie the game at twenty eight against co
it Is they just gave the ball back to go
I think on a punt did the Blue Golds eight
twenty left to go? A Carson Park twenty eight? All
with that American Rivers vote in co College out of
Iowa Lacrosse playing Division two's Northern Michigan today and Lacrosse

(01:42:39):
leeds thirty five to fourteen at lacrosse against the Northern
Michigan Wildcats. They are down three scores with five point
thirty three left to go, and Lacrosse with the second
straight year, looks like they're going to knock off a
Division two squad, which is absolutely wild. Course Division two
can give out some scholarships as well, so pretty wild

(01:42:59):
that they they are up as much as they are
on Northern Michigan. In that one. Uw Oshash leading fourteen
to thirteen against Lynnfield out of Oregon and making the
trip the flight to Oshkosh this weekend seven to twelve
left to go third quarter, fourteen to thirteen, lead over
Lynwood there and Steven's point is at Saint Norbert this afternoon,
twenty four to three they lead to Steven's point over

(01:43:21):
Saint Norbert and it's just under a minute now left
to play in the game. So Stevens point, scoring all
their points mainly in the fourth quarter. Three touchdowns in
the fourth quarter for the pointers, as they are well
on the way to win against Saint Norbert here today.
The only other YA game is tonight at seven o'clock Platteville.
I had the game move back to seven. They initially
we're gonna make that a one o'clock game, or at

(01:43:41):
least that was what our schedule told us, but I
wanted to play a night game there against Dubuke. Not
a very long drive for Dubuke and the Duhawks, so
Platteville will take them on tonight at seven o'clock. The
only team not in action this week is River Falls.
There's usually a bye week kind of worked in to
the first four weeks of the season in Division three football,
at least for the WAYAK anyway, with the eight teams

(01:44:01):
that are in it, you got to find those Stree
non conference in four weeks basically to play, so that'll
be the case there. It's interesting because next week lacrosse
is going to take on Grand Valley, another D two
team out of the Gleiac. Grand Valley's kind of like,
I mean, I wouldn't call them the Whitewater a D two,
but they're kind of like the white Water of D two.
Kind of crazy that they're going to have to go
to Grand Rapids next week and take on a really

(01:44:23):
good DEEP two team in Grand Valley as well. Again,
the Blue Devils men's soccer team losing one to nothing
today to North Central women's soccer team loses at Bethel
to nothing. Volleyball lost and Milliken on straight games, straight
sets rather in the first game of that tournament in Whitewater.
They'll play again in about a half an hour against
Concordy at least that's what the schedule gives us. As well,

(01:44:45):
they might end up starting a little bit later. Also, again,
we are ready to go here for the second half.
The Blue Devils out gaining Dickinson State one ninety three
to one twenty three in that first half, Stout will
have the win at their backs here for the third quarter,
so you get a feeling like Stout's got to have
a relatively decent leave going into the fourth because at

(01:45:07):
least what we've seen so far is that it is
tough sledding moving left to right on your radio dial
today it has been much easier moving right to left,
which is what Stout will have here in the first
or in the third quarter. Here to start as well,
Luke Cool has had the ball blown off the tee,
so he's going to have I believe Gavin Goodman come

(01:45:29):
on and hold the ball there. That is how stiff
the wind has becoming mainly at stouts back, a little
bit across the field, but mainly at their back from
right to left into the wind. We'll be Dickinson state
here from left to right in the third quarter, second
half ready and here we go downfield it goes and
this is a very short kick taken right at the
goal line here by Austrey. He is between the hash

(01:45:49):
marks of the fifteen and he's wrapped up there seventeen
yard line, nothing else as Drew Scheyer makes the tackle
and stops Astray in his tracks. Not a good return,
A great kick by Luke Cool to hit that right
to the goal line and kind of make Austrey want
to bring that out and not get it back to
the twenty five, which is where he would have gotten
it if you just let that ball go back out
through the end zone. So twelve nothing stout with the

(01:46:11):
leads start the third quarter. Happy to have you along
with us here on News Talk wm Q special. Thanks
as always to our wonderful producer Dan Price back in studio.
I know he's happy to be back on for stout
games here on the radio side, and we certainly are
as well. Will Maddler in that first half not a
good one for him, as we said, seven of sixteen
in the first half, and he will get set to

(01:46:32):
go here four half number two as a man going motion,
he will hand it off to the left side and
not a lot maybe a yard to Zeroff on the
read option again just holding onto the ball and then
waiting to see what the defense did, decides to hand
it off and zerof gets nothing, no gain on that play.
Moving right side. Dell was there along with Drew Schoeyer again.

(01:46:53):
Carter Fonger came out out of the linebacker spot to
help on the tackle and just kind of gang tackle
on that left side. They'll give him about a half
half a yard just pass the seventeen yard line, and
it is second and long here for Dickinson State. A
special thanks to Adam Mohen for joining us during our
halftime show. Stinson goes in motion right to left across

(01:47:15):
the formation type formation here for Dickinson State. Back to
Pasco's Maddler looks over the mill. Nothing there, he's wrapped up.
He is sack back inside the ten yard line to
the eight yard line as Stout gets into the backfield
there and it's Walker Biral, the six foot four, two
hundred and fifty pound young man who comes into the
backfield and wraps him up for a sack. And that
is again I don't see that allowed very often by

(01:47:37):
this Dickenson State team. But the sack is made. It
is third and forever here about eighteen for the Blue Hawks,
back deep in their own territory, inside their own ten
yard line. Third and nineteen officially is what our stat
system will tell us from the eight in the shotgun
Maddler Stout shifting on the line. They'll bring four. Madler

(01:48:00):
rolling to his left, looking he's got time steps up
now he's gonna run near side, gets away from the tackler.
He still behind the line of scrimmage, wants to throw
this one, throws it over the middle. It's caught. Twenty
five thirty thirty five. Leaping up near the forty yard line,
goes the tight end, Caden Hoole. He just had so
much time. He scrambled around, did his own best friend
tarkented impression and eventually got somebody open. And it was

(01:48:23):
whole running from the far side to the near side. However,
there is a flag back at the line of scrimmage.
Didn't see it come in, but there is a flag
as well, and I think ineligible receiver is the call,
and they are backing up Dickinson State half the distance
to the goal. Sure, I mean, that's kind of what
happens when you scramble that much is oftentimes what happens.
Ineligible man downfield. One of the linemen started floating past

(01:48:47):
the line, and that's usually what happens. And that's a
good catch there by the headlinesmen on the far sideline,
and that will back them up to the four yard
line here instead third and twenty three. And I'll stout
if if you can't let Maddlin run around that long
because he's gonna find the space and he's gonna again
eventually find somebody. You can't ask your your secondary to

(01:49:08):
defend for ten seconds, right, somebody's gonna get open. Three
man front, maybe four man rush, sure enough, Matdler're gonna
just run it up the middle five ten and he's
hit it about the thirteen, falls up near the fifteen
yard line, gets some of the runs back on just
or the yards back rather on that quarterback keeper. No flags,
and it will be fourth and long here for the
Blue Hawks. So the Blue Devils escape and once again

(01:49:30):
it'll be punning into the wind here. As Stout was
able to get the win at their back here in
the third quarter, now they're not gonna have it in
the fourth. So I think important to at least get
one score on the board here, try to lead by three.
If you lead by three scores going to the fourth,
feel pretty good about that high snap here. They'll get
to it almost blocked as ty Nelson gets it off.
Fair catch made at the forty four yard line of

(01:49:53):
the Blue Hawks. So it'll be about a twenty nine
yard punt in the and the Stout's gonna have good
field position, the fair catch made by Gavin Goodman as
once again Patrick Corkoran is not in there. I don't
see him on the sideline right now. I'll see if
I can see him. Not sure if he's done for
the game or what the case is. Again, got hurt
on that two point conversion plate didn't look terribly serious,

(01:50:17):
but maybe just a precautionary thing, and Goodman doing a
nice shot making the fair catch there as well. One
receiver to the right, one to the left in the
pistol formation here for Adam Mowhen as we get set
for the first drive for Stout in the second half,
he will hand it off left side. Nothing there wrapped
up his Chase Hughes and that's a huge loss, huge
loss all the way back to the fifty yard line.
Shelle Osbourne was there and again just that's one of

(01:50:39):
those two where it's a read option play and there's
an audible out of that too if you want, if
you're Adam Owen, and that's something that Adam Owen needs
to work on right just kind of recognizing the defense
and saying, hey, if I run Chase Hughes to the
left side of the line, that's where they're loading up.
This is a bad idea. Let's move it to the rider.
Let's go to a pass play. Didn't do it. It's
a five yard loss back of the fifty yard line.

(01:51:01):
Second and sixteen, officially six yard loss back to the fifty.
Same formation here in the pistol. They're gonna send Hockinson
in motion. They'll hand it off to him on almost
an option play. Running around the right edge, gets tripped
up of the fifty, falls up to the forty seven.
It's a three yard gain around the edge. There gets
a little bit of that loss of yards back tackle
made in the open field by Joey DeMarco, the strong safety,

(01:51:23):
and that will bring up third and about thirteen here
for Stout at the Bluehawks forty seven yard line. They
need to get this ball down to the thirty four
for a first down. Empty backfield. Three receivers left, two
to the right here for Mohan on the far hash
mark right to left. With the wind at their backs,
move the Blue Devils eleven twenty left to go in
the third quarter, twelve to nothing. Stout with the lead

(01:51:46):
third and twelve, three receivers left, two to the right,
empty backfield, again Adam Mohen waiting for the snap. Three
man front the rush four instead one from the linebacker spot.
Mowan's gonna run forty five to forty looking for a movie.
Makes it to the thirty five and he falls down
a yard passed the line to gain he needed thirteen,
he got fourteen. And what a scramble there for Adam
Mowhen to pick up the first down to the thirty

(01:52:08):
three yard line of the Blue Hawks in the middle
of the hash marks. Beautifully done there by Adam Mohen.
He stepped up, he saw the coverage. They were looking
downfield toward the line, and by the time the secondary
turned around, Adam Owen was right down and up in
their business and he had the momentum moving forward to
get him to the thirty three for a first down.
Big run there for Adam Mohen. Two receivers left went

(01:52:30):
out to the right. That man is Evans, who's caught
a deep one already today. Mowen will fake the handoff
the throatout to Evans catch, made thirty two. Bobbles now
to the thirty to the twenty five, falls up near
the first down marker. He is going to be about
a half a yard short at the twenty four yard line,
a nine yard gain for Devonte Evans, and it will
be second in one. And as they like to say,

(01:52:51):
the playbook is open here for the Blue Devils. They
can go play action, they can run, they can run
anything they want to try to not only pick up
the first down. I got a big, chunky yard and
cheer as well. Two receivers move out right here for
the Blue Devils. One to the left, Hughes is the back.
I'll send a man in motion that's Letcher across the
formation right to left and the slot to the left

(01:53:12):
now is Letcher. Mowen looks right now, rolls to his left,
gets away from the pressure, initially launches it back to
left corner of the endzone. He's opping touchdown Blue Devils
ben At Letcher catches it in the near corner of
the end zone for twenty four yards and a touchdown
of the Blue Devils now lead eighteen to nothing here
over Dickinson State with nine forty three left to play
in the third quarter. A beautiful passer Madam Mowen, a

(01:53:34):
perfectly designed play, rolled away from the pressure up the
middle from Dahlgren and found the open man. Letcher kind
of running across the formation to the near pylon, got
about three feet in there downfield as the coverage from
Jamin Medlock was late and Luke Cool on to attempt
the extra point snap. Spot snap wasn't a good one.

(01:53:58):
Spot was decent and Luke Cool gets it through. Good
job by mowing to get that hole down nineteen to nothing.
Stout with the lead nine thirty forty three rather left
to play in the third quarter. We come back right
after this here on your home for blue doubles football.

Speaker 8 (01:54:13):
Let's use a football metaphor in your home.

Speaker 11 (01:54:16):
You're the quarterback. Now, who would you want in your
front line as fault No, the fearsome form rain, hail,
wind and snow and blow rate throw an ass ball line.
For real protection, you want be Yorks Fran Metal roofing
because hit after hit, year after year.

Speaker 3 (01:54:33):
Be Yorks Frand Metal Roofing.

Speaker 11 (01:54:35):
Will keep you protected with a fifty year non pro
rated and transferable warranty two three seven, twenty six seventy eight.

Speaker 8 (01:54:46):
This is UW. Stout Football on News Talk wm EQ.

Speaker 3 (01:54:54):
Welcome back once again here to Dickinson, North Dakota. You're
in western North North Dakota Long Trek for the Blue Devils,
but they are making and taking advantage of it right now,
up nineteen to nothing against a Dickinson State Blue Hawks,
the team that's ranked fifteenth promay sixteenth rather in the
nation in the NAIA again, that organization that's kind of

(01:55:16):
opposed or not opposed to, but outside the NCAA of
four year schools and you know, scholarships all that. But
right now, the Blue Devils looking good up nineteen and
nothing as Luke Cool kicks us one off with the
wind at his back, taking it about the seven yard
line once again by a returner there in Austrey moves left.
Then he gets absolutely crushed at the twenty one yard
line by Sideel and again the Blue Hawks just not

(01:55:40):
a lot of space for those returns. So it's Bennett
Letcher with the touchdown reception. He had two catches for
eleven yards last week. But today he comes up with
a big play and a really well designed play, getting
Adam Mow and rolling to it kind of across his
body to his left for the righty and throws it
to the corner of the end zone. Electric was well
open to get into the end zone for that one.

(01:56:03):
So a nineteen nothing lead here for Stout and the
Blue Hawks are up against it. Here's Madler middle of
the hashmarks after that return, fakes the handoff looking to
go deep, launches this one far sided, is up a
wide open caught forty yard line to the thirty. Had
to wait on it a bit there, did Samage Clark,
but he is deep into Stout territory to the twenty

(01:56:24):
six yard line. First down, Blue Hawks. That'll be a
fifty three yard gain on the catch and passed down
to the twenty six yard line, and the exact play
that the Blue Hawks needed. Madler, already up to the line,
fakes the handoff looking to go deep over the middle.

(01:56:45):
It's up and incomplete, and it was way too high
for his intended receiver CJ. Stinson, who went down on
the coverage from Brewer. But never going to get a
flag there as that was well overthrown. And it's second
and ten, so a big play there to Homage Clark
for fifty three yards. Gavin Goodman got the tackle, but
flips the field here. Now again they're going into the winds,

(01:57:06):
so I'm not sure you're really even in field goal
range at the Stout twenty six yard line. Still got
some work to do in nine oh six remaining here
in the third quarter, Dickinson State trailing nineteen to zero
against the Blue Devils. Two receivers out to the party,
three to the right, one to the left, back to
pass Madler. He's got a lot of time, Nobody getting
pressure on him now. Morris Justice gets through the line

(01:57:26):
and launch it to the back corner of the end zone.
It's up incomplete on the near side the coverage air
from Murphy looking for Stinson and it was well overthrown
again trying to I think throw it with an adjustment
to the wind parmently smash. Clark was the guy who
was intended for and just not able to find him
in stride on the near corner of the end zone.

(01:57:47):
So third and ten after two incompletions here for Madler.
Adrian Calder and the freshman receiver will come in for
Clark after that long run. Stintson out wide left and
Minikey out wide right. Ten seconds on the platelock. They
finally get the play in here. Maddler is gonna have
to get this playoff quickly. Third and ten from the
stout twenty six yard line. They need the sixteen with

(01:58:09):
one second on the play clock, gets it off. Here
comes the pressure, he gets away from it, steps up.
Now he wants to throw it over the middle. That
was deflected incomplete. There'll be no pass interference with the deflection.
It's fourth and ten. But I'm not sure you're in
field goal range here with the win, and I think
this you kind of almost have to go for it,
and that's what they're gonna I mean, they are down
by three three scores, and those would be I guess

(01:58:31):
in theory, you could get a field goal, two touchdowns
and two two point conversions ties the game, So a
field goal could help you here down nineteen to nothing.
But at this point, again, the Bluehawks needs something positive
and they're gonna keep the offense out there. Fourth and ten,
needing the sixteen yard line for a first down. Ball
to twenty six, two receivers left to right, Madler back

(01:58:52):
to pass, looks over the middle, looks pumps. Now he
gets hit from behind, ball pops out. It pops out.
It's now picked up by one of the line liberties
down at the thirty one yard line, picked up by woodroof.
It's a fumble and then taking down at the thirty
one will be a loss of a few on the
play and Stout takes over on downs. Has nothing going
right for Dickinson State here this afternoon, eight forty four
left to go, third quarter and the Blue Devils take

(01:59:14):
over at their own thirty one yard line. And after
a great play to Samage Clark, the deep or the
offense rather for the Blue Hawks goes backwards, so they
give up the explosive play. But then Stouts defense turns
it up a level. The coverage great on the next
four plays and they finally get the pressure there. That
was Nick Mose who got the strip a sack rather

(01:59:34):
on Maddler and then it was scooped up by Scotty
Woodriff but about a five yard loss. And now start
Stout starts at their own thirty one yard line. Here
on the next drive, one receiver left, two out to
the right on the far hash mark right to left,
they go Mowen hands it off, No, he gives it
out to Evans catch made avoids the first tackler at
the thirty two breaks the tackle, rolls up across the

(01:59:55):
thirty five and he's down at the thirty nine yard
line for a gain of eight. On first down. Good
elusive move there by Evans out in the flat. They
just get it to him in space on the left
side on a single coverage. He's got one man to
beat and he beat him and then gets eight yards.
Second and two here for Stout at their own thirty
nine yard line. Number of Blue Devil's parents have made

(02:00:16):
the trek here to Dickinson and they are loving what
they have seen here today. After a rough week last
week against Carol, this team has made a big jump
from week one to week two and this is exactly
what the doctor ordered for this football team. They get
Ben Carl's in motion, give it to him on an
end a round Oh, he goes up ended and he
should have the first down as he tried to leap
the defender and then does a three to sixty summersault

(02:00:38):
in the air running right side. Look like he got
the forty one and they are going to move the chains.
The tackle made by Jack Hartman, the backup free safety,
but that is enough for the first down here for
Stout on a two yard gain, and again Ben Carl's
the punter, but he's also a backup receiver and with
Patrick Corkoran out with that injury, earlier in the game.
I think he was the sub basically for normally we

(02:00:59):
paid Patrick Corkoran on that end around, but instead it
was Carl's. And there's a man in motion here for
Stout left to right. They will hand off. Note it's
keeper here for mowing on the read option. He runs
left to the forty five. Taken down from behind, he's
going to roll up to about the forty eight, maybe
the forty nine as he's tackled from behind by Jackson Williams,
but not before he gets a good chunk there. On
first down. That's an eight yard gain to their own

(02:01:21):
forty nine yard line and a Mowent on the read option.
Keeper he saw the pressure coming on the right side
of the line. He was where Chase Hughes on the
read option was running, and he just tucked it and
ran to the left side, and he had quite a
bit of space to pick up that eight yards and
make it second and short. Second and two here for Stout.
Two receivers left, one out to the right. The levels

(02:01:41):
again have the backup tight end in there, and Mason
Frank offset right. Mowen sends Carls in motion. They'll fake
the end around two him. Owen's gonna get pressure and
he's taken down, taken down for a huge sack back
inside the forty yard line. We'll see where they end
up marking him. But again that play just doom for failure.
The fake end around and the pressure coming and the

(02:02:02):
Blue Hawks were all over it. There is they got
into the backfield quickly, right up the gut was where
the pressure came from. Shelle Osborne's been all over the
place today and he gets a big sack there on
Mowing on the rollout to the right, and that will
back the Blue Devil's up twelve yards third and fourteen.
Now here for Stout, there was a late substitution, so
they're gonna allow the substitution for Dickens to say if

(02:02:26):
they want now, they'll let him stap the ball. They
need to get this playoff five four seconds three seconds
on the play clock. Two receivers left, two to the right,
and a whistle and a timeout I think coming here
from Stout. Yeah, they didn't want to get a delay
a game there with five point fifty nine left to
go in the third quarter. That's one of those where
you just got to be on top of it there
and again, everybody kind of offset with that that big sack,

(02:02:49):
and so I think everybody kind of got off, not
only from a play calling standpoint, but just from all
the standpoints there where you're saying, you know, man, we
had the next play in the in the pocket, ready
to go, and then all of a sudden you backed
up twelve yards and it's third and fourteen from your
own thirty seven yard line. So timeout taken. We'll stay
here again. A quick update from some scores around Whitewater.

(02:03:10):
A winner today over Roosevelt, so they moved to two
to zero on the season. It looks like eau Claire
and co. Are headed to overtime. Twenty eight all going
to overtime at Carson Park. Lacrosse wins thirty five to
twenty one against Northern Michigan today. Started the fourth quarter
Oshkosh leeds fourteen to thirteen over Lynnfield and Stevens point
of winner twenty four to three over Saint Norbert today.

(02:03:32):
That's you're out of town scoreboard as I come out
of the time out and stout facing a third and
fourteen with three receivers left to right from their own
thirty seven yard line, showing pressure here are the Bluehawks.
They look like they're gonna rush six guys and they do.
Here comes Mo and he throws it over the middle.
Cop By Lectcher at the forty five trying to fight

(02:03:53):
out of a tackle. All he's close. He's to the
fifty yard line. They needed fourteen and he got thirteen.
Holy Cole, what a good job by moment to get
rid of it. I think in this situation, you gotta
go for I know that Clay Birmingham, he's a little
bit more of the old school coach. I don't like
this call. They're bringing out the punt unit. I don't know.
After all the shanks last week, you're up nineteen to nothing,

(02:04:15):
you got a chance almost for the kill. Shot here
to keep this drive alive. And if you I mean,
if you get a touch on the end of this drive,
I mean the game is almost over. But instead needing
the forty nine of Dickinson state the ball right at midfield.
They're gonna punt this one away unless this is a
fake punt unit, a fake punt situation, which is possible
as well. I mean, this seems very weird that they're

(02:04:35):
not going for it.

Speaker 2 (02:04:36):
Now.

Speaker 3 (02:04:36):
Carl's is gonna punt it, and he's got the wind
at his back. The punt down inside the ten, it
takes a hop at the five and it bounces into
the end zone. Into the end zone, you bring it
out to the twenty. It's only a net of thirty yards.
I don't know about that. I think the new school
of thought on a lot of this is you got
fourth and under five and you're near or into a

(02:04:59):
enemy territory. Most of the analytics tell you to go
for it more than half the time, and that's one
where I'm not sure that works out well for the
Blue Devils. Now, again, the Blue Devils defense has been
great outside of the one explosive play we saw in
that last drive for Dickinson State. Outside of that, this
defense has played really well today. So I can see
the vote of confidence in the defense also. But I
don't know. To me, the new school of thought I

(02:05:21):
think is to go for it there. But I am
not a coach. So off we go.

Speaker 2 (02:05:24):
Here.

Speaker 3 (02:05:24):
Here's Madler back to pass and the shotgun steps up,
throws it over the middle. It is bobble, but caught
at the thirty yard line for a first down. They'll
give him the thirty one yard line. In fact, catch
made there by Minuck. He thought, for a moment's gage
Gilbert Kyle Menick, the junior who makes the catch over
the middle, eleven yard game and a first down to
the thirty one tackle made from Dawson Goodman, the strong safety,

(02:05:49):
and they'll move the chains here for a first down
on the first play of this new drive. Four to
thirty five left to play here in the third quarter,
stout up nineteen to nothing, Matther, there plenty of time
to throw over the middle. It's boble NOI caught it.
What a catch by Monicky again at the first down
marker right across the forty to the forty one. They're
going to give him the first down yardage on a
ten yard gain right across the middle. The American flag

(02:06:12):
is blowing and blowing hard out past the end zone
to our right, and again the wind is into the
face right now of Dickinson State, but only for the
next four minutes. As allowed to win with their backs
in the fourth quarter, nineteen to nothing, stout first and
ten from their own forty one. Madler back to pass again,
throws it over the middle incomplete too strong there he

(02:06:34):
went to minickye and went back to the well for
a third time, and wasn't the best thrown ball. Minick's
upset with themselves. Probably should have caught. It was kind
of down to his left and his momentum was taken
him the other way. But it's one that hit him
in the hands and he feels like he should have
caught as it bounces off the turf. No one really
close to him in coverage there. The closest guy was

(02:06:54):
Richie Murphy, but incomplete in the end. Three receivers to
the left on the near hash left to right. They
go second and ten from their own four forty two
yard line back to pass. Madler looks left the entire way.
He's got time, throws it to the far sideline. It's
up and bobbled and it is in. Are they gonna
call it a cat? Didn't look like he had control.
Officials are talking about it incomplete. He did bobble. It
did CJ. Stinson. Officials were right on top of it,

(02:07:17):
and I thought initially it was definitely bobbled over there
by Stinson. We've got the monitors up here, so we
get to look at the replay and we'll see if
they can zoom in on it a bit. I mean
it definitely looked like that left foot keh. No, you know,
as I look at the replay, I think that's a catch.
I think that's a bad call by the officials. The
left foot came down I think just before the right

(02:07:39):
foot did. The left foot was in bounds, the right
foot was out of bounds. And so my guess is
the officials are thinking those feet came down simultaneously and
the right one was out of bounds. So it's incomplete,
which I can understand that, but it'll look to me
in that replay when we slowed it down with the
left toe tap before the right toe. Nonetheless, third and
ten here from their own forty two throw it up
top over the left side, it's incomplete. Looking for stint again,

(02:08:00):
great coverage from the blue levels, and this time it
was the backup linebacker Braxton money his In, the sophomore
who was there. As we get another look at that replay,
it's a catch. Yeah. They You can tell that the
DUOC broadcast here is not happy about that incompletion call
on They're right, I mean it was a bad call.
If we had review here at Dickinson State they'd review

(02:08:23):
that and call that a catch. It would have been
about a twenty five yard gain. Instead, it was incomplete.
And after that incompletion, there to stints and it's now
fourth and ten and the Blue Hawks rather are going
for it here on their own forty two yard line,
three fifty four left to go, third quarter and two
receivers right, one left, rolling right as mad he will
get away from the pressure, throws it to the near sideline.
It's incomplete. There are no flags on the field, and

(02:08:46):
the Blue Devils will take over at the forty two
yard line of Dickinson State. Did the Blue Devils get
a little lucky on that drive, Yes they did, but
they will take it. Sometimes it's better to be lucky
than good. You make your own luck. Can I think
of any other clear? Probably if I sat here long
enough I would. But nonetheless, blue Devils will take over.
And this is where you got to take advantage. You

(02:09:06):
got a little bit of a break. Dickinson State's probably
feel a little bit hard done by the officials. You
can tell there's kind of some inkst here in the
stadium as well. Again, they're showing that replay again. This
is the third time that their broadcast is showing that replay.
They are livid. Livid are the Blue Hawks. Here is

(02:09:27):
a throwout to the right side. Evans catches at the
forty and now he will move inside the thirty five
yard line, go out of mountains. Inside the thirty is
where they'll mark him down to the twenty eight yard line.
What a catch out there on the twenty eight fourteen
yard gain is Devonte Evans putting in the work on
the far sideline, right in front of the Stout bench,
and it's a first down for the Blue Devils. Three
twenty five left to play here in the third quarter,

(02:09:48):
in the clock ticking is Stout leads nineteen to nothing
on Dickinson State in game two of this twenty to
twenty four football season. Again next week on the YAX
Sports Network, we'll have it a night game from Williams Stadium.
Stout versus Northwestern out of the umach looking forward to
that as well. Fake the handoff here to his mow
and Mowen looking over the middle. He wants to launch

(02:10:09):
this one toward the end zone. It's up being complete.
Looking for Ben Carl's downfield and about the two to
three yard line. It was just a little bit too
high for him. Again, you elevate that ball at all
when you're throwing it, and all of a sudden, that
wind really takes it. And that is something that Ben
or pardon me, that Adam Mohen has been trying to
adjust to here throughout the course of this game. And again,

(02:10:30):
all the touchdowns have come at the end zone to
are left with the wind at their backs. So we'll
see how it changes in the fourth quarter when Stout's
finally going into the win for the first time since
the first quarter. Three receivers bunch right, one to the left.
All those receivers out toward the far hatch, which is
where the ball is as well. Fake the handoff, go
out right side. Carls makes a catch to the twenty five,
takes a hit at the twenty two, rolls out of

(02:10:53):
bounds to about the twenty one yard line. That'll be
a game of seven on the play, and it will
be third and about three here for Stout. A nice
catch by Carl's out there on the right side. I
think Dickinson State thought that maybe some guys were blocking
before that ball or while that ball was in the air,
wanted some offensive pass interference not the case. His Carls
rolls out of bounds. It's third and about three. They're

(02:11:15):
gonna call it third and two officially as they mark
the ball. They gave him the twenty yard line. Wow,
gave Hi an extra yard there. The spotting of the
ball today has not been great. But the Blue Devils
take that one again. Tolkien in the back here. Now
third and two. They send him man in motion. That's
Bennet Letcher. They'll fake the end around to him. Mo
Owe'm gonna run up the middle. He's got the first
down across the twenty, across the fifteen and finally taking

(02:11:38):
down at the fourteen yard line. A seven yard game
for Adam mowing up the gut as Williams takes him
down and it's first and ten at the fourteen of
the Blue Hawks. Now to twelve left to go in
the third quarter. You've got another chance to convert a
first down here. But I think Stout wants to score
before the end of this quarter. With the win at
their backs, I don't think they want to mess around

(02:12:00):
too much in terms of time. As Evans brings in
the play call, Anam Mowen looking at his play sheet
on his wrist. Eight seconds left on the plate clock.
Tolkienen moves to his left. Two men go in motion
to the left side of the line. Three seconds, two seconds,
one second. He hands it off to Tolkienen just lowers
his shoulder, stays on his feet across the fifteen, and

(02:12:22):
pushes up near the eleven. I think they're gonna mark
Hi down at the twelve yard line. Twelve yard line
is the case? May Stuber in on the tackle. Yeah,
it'll be second and about seven eight in that range
here for Stout, they need to get the ball inside
the five to about the four, and the ball is
at the seven, So yeah, let's call it second and seven. Here,

(02:12:47):
ball at the twelve yard line. Man out to the
left is Zulka. He's been pretty quiet tonight. One receiver
right is Hockinson. He's got a touchdown. Tolkienen is a
tailback under center. Here goes Mowen, and he will hand
it off to Tolkienen right up the gut to the
ten to the nine, taken down by Riley Waters, the linebacker.
That's a gain of three ish to bring up third

(02:13:10):
and five here for Stout, they'll have to run at
least one more play I think they want to again.
I think you want to score before that clock ticks
down to the fourth quarter. Now, again you're close to
the goal line, so I'm not sure how much the
wind is going to affect you in terms of a
pass this close, even if you're going into the wind
as well. But thirty seconds left in the third quarter,

(02:13:32):
and again about a sixteen second differential between play and
game clock. So here is Mowen under center again. Tolkienen
is the back. He will fake the handoff, roll to
his left and the play action throws it to the
back corner of the end zone near side. It is
in complete. The defender slipped down there looking for raith
Bauer and it was just underthrown. That stops the clock

(02:13:52):
with fourteen seconds left in the third quarter. And I
imagine that the field goal unit's going to come out here,
and that is the case. The ball is on the
far hash mark. It's going to be a short field goal,
but kind of a cute angle for Luke Cool to
have to kick this one through. He has been good
from thirty four and good from forty five earlier today
he has missed a field goal as well. This will

(02:14:12):
be a twenty six yarder from the far hash mark
with the wind at his back and again a little
bit of a hook win. That's what he's got to
do is hook this one through. Here's a snap spot
kick is up and the kick is through from Luke
Cool who hits again, this time from twenty six yards.
He's made three field goals today. Sound has a twenty

(02:14:32):
two to nothing lead over Dickinson State with eleven seconds
left to go in the third quarter, and that sends
us to a break right here on your home for
Blue Devils football.

This is UW Stout Football on Newstalk wm EQ.

Speaker 3 (02:15:21):
Welcome back here to Dickinson State stout with a field
goal from Luke Cool of twenty six yards makes it
a twenty two to zero game. Stout in the lead
here over the Bluehawks of the NAIA and the NSCC
here in western North Dakota. Hey some other scores from
around Division three football. The big one is tonight y
at Aurora. It's North Central out of the CCIW, the
number one ranked team in the country taking on Aurora,

(02:15:43):
who is number fourteen in the country. Again Cortland with
they win seventy to seven today. Earlier today Saint John's
with a thirty five to thirteen win over Wartburg. That
a big result there as Wartburg was ranked fifth in
the country. Saint John's just twelve. Here's the kickoff which
is taken to the left side up to about the
twenty yard line and not much more for the returner

(02:16:03):
there in Jackson White. No, it wasn't Jackson Winebar. Rather,
they brought in a new returner here did Dickinson State,
and that is Darien Brown, the backup running back in
junior from Lacey Washington, who gets it out to the
twenty after Luke Cool's kicked you about the goal line
only three seconds remain here in the third quarter after

(02:16:24):
stouts drive that gets them in with that sixteen yard
field goal. So the Blue Devils have taken a twenty
to two to nothing lead here over Dickinson State twenty
seven yard field goal officially there, and they will run
it out to the left side catch made here at

(02:16:46):
the eighteen yard line to the twenty five to twenty
six on that left side. Kind of just a little
pop pass out of the backfield to the left to
Kyle Gunlack, one of the backup receivers here, and he
will make it second at about four, which is where
Dickinson State will have the ball at their own twenty
seven yard line when we start quarter number four. As

(02:17:07):
we have reached the end of the third, gonna be
a good finish stout leading twenty two to nothing on
Dickinson State back after this here on your home for
Blue Devils football.

Speaker 3 (02:18:17):
Welcome back here to Dickinson, North Dakota, and as we
get set for the start of the fourth quarter, it
is Madler dropping back to pass throwing two is left
as CJ. Stinson who makes a catch across the thirty
to the thirty two yard line. It will be a
gain of about five on the play for a first down.
As we are back in underway here for the fourth
stout leading twenty two to nothing on Dickinson, say, game
two of the season. Back to pass Madler again left side,

(02:18:39):
since it makes a catch. Forty one makes a move
and is pushed out of bounds at the forty five
to the forty six yard line. Another good gain there.
That'll be fourteen yards on the play and the Blue
Hawks will move it. They're going up tempo here on Stout,
and that is throwing off this defense a little bit.
They're ready to go already. Madler three receivers right, one
left up to the line at the forty six yard line.

(02:19:00):
Back to pass. Four man rush here from Stout. He's
got a good pocket, lots of time now throws it
over the middle. It is caught sliding down there, kind
of thrown behind his intended receiver Gunlack, but he catches
it into Stout territory to the forty three yard line.
About a thirteen yard gain. Another first down here for
the Blue Hawks. Stout kind of get off the field quickly. Yeah,

(02:19:20):
they don't have enough. Too many guys on the field here.
There should be a flaggers or a timeout time out
taken here by Stout. This up tempo offense as Stout
all out of sorts. They burn their second time out
of the second half already, so Stout's only got one
time out left. The positive is that they are ahead
twenty two to nothing right now, so at least again

(02:19:41):
will they need them? Who knows, you'd love to have them,
but they may not need them come the end of
this game. We'll have to see it. A little bit
of a discrepancy year with our live stats. If you're
watching the live stats at home, you may think it's
twenty eight to nothing, it is twenty two to nothing.
I think they've for some reason, they've marked an extra
touchdown in here without an extra point at the beginning
the first half, So not sure exactly what that is

(02:20:02):
all about. But nonetheless, I think most of the individual
stats are correct, and as they take this time out,
let's go through them real quick. Adam Mohen is fourteen
of twenty five in this game for one hundred and
eighty one yards and two touchdowns. He's also rushed for
twenty five yards as well. Chase Hughes has thirty two
yards on five attempts, seventeen yards for Dylan Nelson on
the ground as well. Stout has sixty six yards from

(02:20:23):
Devonte Evans thirty seven for minute Letcher thirty from Carter's Azoka. Again.
Letcher and Hawkinson are the two with the receiving touchdowns
for Stout here today. Luke Cool has three field goals
made here in North Dakota. Two receivers right one or
two to the left. One goes in motion left to
right and to get open on that right side as
back to passes, Madler steps up in the pocket launches

(02:20:44):
this one for the back top corner of the end zone.
It is up and it is incomplete. No flags on
the play once again going for the deep shot there
to Samage Clark and a great job by the Blue
Devils in defense as they are going all out here
is Dickenson state they are trying to get something back again.
Great coverage here from Gavin Goodman. Gavin Goodman's going to

(02:21:05):
be a good corner folks for a long time. He's
just a sophomore. He looked great last week. He's already
looked good this week. Good returner as well. This is
a good fine here for Clate Birmingham and company. Two
receivers right two left here for the Blue Hawks back
to pass Madler on second and ten from the Stout
forty three over the middle bobble, but caught thirty five thirty.
Here's Stintson spinning down inside the thirty yard line to

(02:21:25):
about the twenty seven maybe the twenty six spun down
by Andrew Bindey, the backup cornerback.

Speaker 2 (02:21:34):
Man.

Speaker 3 (02:21:35):
A good play there, get some first down yardage and
again back up quickly. Here come Dickenson state to the
line as CJ. Stinson, showing off what he can do
on that play. Stinton with the catch sixteen yard game.
Nate rewalled officially with the tackle again the late substitution,
so they'll give Stout the opportunity to get their guys
on and off the field, and a new set of

(02:21:56):
guys out there for Stout. Three receivers right, one left,
ball into your hash, right to left. They go the
wind that they're back thirteen to ten, left to go
here in the fourth twenty two nothing Stout Madler back
to pass, flushed out of the pocket, rolls to his left,
throws it near sideline. It's way out of ounds. Incomplete
looking downfield there for minicky and thrown onto the track
here which is separates the stands in the field. Get

(02:22:17):
a little bit set back here at Dickinson State with
that track no stands on the far side, so the
stout faithful and parents who made the track here to
basically the old wild West of Coalesced down below us
here in the press box. All right. Two receivers so
the right, two to the left again the ball on
the near hash thirteen oh four left to go. Maddler

(02:22:38):
getting pressure there from the corner. They get around it,
steps up now throws back across his body. It's tipped
it incomplete. Could have been an interception there as the
Blue Devils were right on to it intended for Minicky,
and the Blue Devils were close to the interception went
through a couple guys hands. Let's see if they play
the replay here in house, who can see who potentially

(02:22:59):
had the interception there? But nonetheless, it is a twenty
seven yard line and a third and ten coming up
here for the Blue Hawks. That I mean, at this
point in the game, it's four down territory. They're going
for it regardless, so they don't need to get it
all here. Two receivers left to right for Madler need
to get to the seventeen yard line for a first
down four man rush for Stout. Madler gets away from it,

(02:23:19):
throws it over the middle, cot caught at the seven
yard line by Stinton. He's hit from behind up to
the five yard line. Tackled on the play by money Heisen,
but not before Stinson gets a lot of yardage up
to the five yard line, a twenty two yard gain
and its first and goal. Here for the Blue Hawks,
what's gonna be interesting is even you know, regardless of
what happens on this drive, if it's a score or not,

(02:23:42):
can Stout run clock right? Can they get the ball
going on the ground as well? Here comes the play
that looked like there was some early motion not the case.
Madler throws it over the middle, intercepted, intercepted by Brooks
Brewer looking for Homage Clark in the back of the
end zone and he was reading him like a book.
And it's intercept by Brooks Brewer, the third interception of

(02:24:02):
Maddler in this game. He had zero interceptions coming into
this one and four touchdowns. He has no touchdowns today
and he's been picked off three times. And it's Blue
Devils ball at the twenty twelve, twenty two left to go.
Let's go Blue Devil's defense stepping up beautifully in this.
I mean Will Maddler is a guy that they you know,

(02:24:24):
they gave him some some scholarship to come in here
and play here at UH at Dickinson State, and he's
from Northern State, which is a D two school that
he transferred from, and he has been fooled by this
defense today by the Blue Devils. Here's a handoff up
the middle, no dice, no dice. That's going to be

(02:24:44):
a loss of three on the play for Stout. On
the handoff to Hughes is forward progress got on. It
looked like two about the seventeen. They're gonna mark them
at the sixteen, so four yard loss. I mean it'll
run some clock here, but still not what Stout needs.
They need to run this ball down field and kind
of get the Blue Hawk defense going backwards. Took under
twelve minutes left to go Stout twenty two Dickinson State nothing,

(02:25:06):
three interceptions today for the Blue Devil defense. A twenty
two to nothing lead for Stout. As Adam Mohen was
on the shotgun with one receiver left, one right in
that type formation, Carl's left, Evans right, and now they
will send a man in motion to the right side.
That's McCabe Devorak, and they will throw it out to
Evans on the right side. Caught it the fifteen to

(02:25:27):
the twenty as he lowers his shoulder and gets a
couple more yards to the twenty three yard line. Hit
on the play by Riley Waters. But a good pick
up there gets back some of that yardage and it
should be about third and seven here for the Blue
Devils gets about half of it back, or half of
what they needed. I should say they're on second out.
I mentioned McCabe Devorak, one of the backup receivers here

(02:25:48):
was into the game. Now he's just come out. Devorak
the guy who plays for the hockey team at Stuff.
He had two goals last year. He's now playing as
a receiver for the Blue Devils football team. He will
still be on the hockey team come hockey season as well.
That's a story also for this Blue Devil team. Two
receivers left to right. Caleb tim the tight end offset left.
Five seconds on the plate clock as Mowen takes a
snap on third and seven, bring a four man rosh

(02:26:10):
of pressure coming throws it over the middle cot but
not gonna be a lot here for minute Letcher who
is taken down right at the line of scrimmage, a
good open field tackle by Jack Hartman, and it will
be fourth and seven for Stout and the punt unit
will come out. And what the issue with the punt
unit is a lot of things, like we said at
the beginning of this game. And now back into the
wind here with ten thirty to go in the fourth quarter,

(02:26:32):
Carl's got to get a boot into this one, and
he's got to do it into the wind after shaking
two punts last week. Cannot give the Bluehawks good field
position here. So whatever you gotta do to get a
decent net out of this. I mean, if this can
end in Bluehawk territory, I think you'd feel like it's
a bit of a win. He'll get it away high
into the air, the wind knocks it down. Fair catch
call for what a punt inside the forty yard line

(02:26:55):
of Dickinson State Fair caught at the thirty eight yard line.
That is an impressive punt there of thirty nine yards
forty yards right in that range and into the wind.
I mean, on a with no wind aiding one way
or the other. That's at least a fifty yard punt
and if he's kicking the other way, I mean we're
talking about like record punt, that's what we're talking about.

(02:27:17):
I mean, that was really really well done by Ben Carls.
A good way for him to step up. Thought that
special teams could be an issue today. It hasn't really
factored in much outside of the three field goals that
Stout has scored here today and Dickens and States just
looking for an answer. They just have not had anything
going on either side of the ball really today. Two
receivers right, two left for Madler throws it over the middle,

(02:27:39):
caught at the forty five and immediately tackled to the
forty six yard line. My Nate Rewald goes the receiver
in Gage Gilbert. That was Gauge Gilbert into the game.
Oh pardon me, no, it was still number sixteen. Kyle
minike Minikey with the catch about seven yards to the
Bluehawk forty six yard line. Second and three, man in motion,
look over the middle here back to pass. He got

(02:28:01):
wrapped up for a moment, gets away from the pressure,
wants to launch this one deep down the far side.
Man wide open, caught five ten or ten five touchdown touchdown.
Blue Hawks swade open Andrian Calder and the freshman receiver
makes the catch, got behind the Stout defense. However, there
is a flag. It's in the secondary. This is probably

(02:28:21):
going to be against Stout and be waved off. Result
of the play is a touchdown personal foul against Stout.
They initially pointed to Dickinson state it'll be marked off
on the kickoff. I think we've just been told as
well as again we got some issues with the microphone

(02:28:41):
as well, so trying to read the signals as there
was some kind of late hit or something like that. Oh,
look at that there, Look at the replay here. Brooks Brewer,
the safety was trying to get back to make the play.
He was held up by one of the receivers at
about the fifteen twenty yard line and that was not
called by the officials. Two to six now Stout leads.
But that was a big play there, I mean, clear

(02:29:03):
offensive pass interference that was missed, a high snap on
the extra point. The extra point though is up and
good kick by Chase Miller and it's now twenty two
to seven Stout with the lead nine thirty eight left
to go. Fourth quarter, Stout's gonna have to sustain a
drive run some clock when we come back here on
your home for Blue Doubles football.

Speaker 3 (02:30:01):
Welcome back here to Dickinson State. A penalty on the
touchdown from Dickinson State that went against the Blue Devils.
Who's gonna make this kickoff come from the fifty yard line?
Let's see if maybe Dickinson State tries for an once
I kicked something like that. But they finally get on
the board with the long touchdown catch by Calderon, and
this one's just gonna be kicked out of the back

(02:30:21):
of the end zone. Not really sure why I mean,
you had a chance to take advantage of field position,
but what do I know. Nonetheless, it's kicked through the
end zone. That was a great drive from Dickinson State
to get downfield. A couple of big plays, and finally
again Adrian Calderon on a fifty four yard touchdown pass
from Will Madler and Chase Miller with the extra point
makes it twenty two to seven. Stout leads. So, I mean,

(02:30:44):
it's nine to thirty eight left to play here in
the fourth quarter. You're going into the wind. You gotta
figure out a way if you're Stout to sustain a drive, right,
I mean, run this one downfield, get a couple of
first downs, you know, knock three, four or five minutes
off the clock, and then you're looking like your odds
to win are pretty good. But let's see what they
do to start. Ana Moan in the shotgun. He's got

(02:31:05):
token into his right. He'll hand it off to him
on the read option up the gut across the twenty five.
He's up near the twenty eight yard line, maybe the
twenty nine. Yeah, nice little roll there at the end
to get down to the twenty nine yard line. Looks
like a Blue Hawk is down and hurt on the
play tackle made by Jackson Williams, but not before four
yards from Ben Tolkien in the backup running back here
only had one yard rushing on two attempts last week.

(02:31:27):
The man down is Wyatt Anderson, the starting junior defensive
tackle for the Blue Hawks, and he is kind of
prostrate on the ground there. He's proned out, and I
don't know if he just got the wind knocked out
of him or what the case is the overall stats
in this game the Blue Devils as a squad. As

(02:31:50):
we take a look back at the replay here, just
trying to see if we can pick up anything from
the tackle, they're, oh, yeah, look like his maybe his
left one of his knees got rolled up on there,
did Anderson? Hopefully? All right? A four yard game there
for tolkienen In the end, Blue Devils as a squad
in terms of their overall yards here eighty six yards

(02:32:13):
on the ground, one hundred and eighty eight through the air.
Dickinson sate two hundred and ninety yards through the air,
just twenty yards on the ground. They've done it all
passing today have the Blue Hawks? So I mean sal
it's gonna wait a while.

Speaker 2 (02:32:25):
Here.

Speaker 3 (02:32:26):
They're all up to the line ready to go, but
there's twenty five seconds still on the play clock and
the clock running down. They can snap this ball well
under the nine minute mark, up twenty two to seven
on Dickinson State. It's second and six from their own
twenty nine yard line, fifteen seconds left on the play clock.
Adam OAN's ready to take the snap. He's gonna take
it with about ten seconds left on the play clock.
He could have waited another five seconds, but instead he

(02:32:47):
runs left side. He's got a whole thirty five to
forty far sideline between the numbers and the sideline. He's
pushed out of olds at the forty five yard line.
Now mark about at the forty four officially, but not
before a big game. There at fifteen yards in a
first first sound, and we're not at the point where
they'll stop the clock permanently when you go out of bound,
so they roll it right when they get the chains moved.

(02:33:08):
And again another situation where Stout can take the clock
down under about eight twenty before they snap this ball.
And now you're playing a little bit of a time game.
You want to run as much clock as possible, up
by two touchdowns fifteen point Stout lead. You're with eight
twenty five left to go in this fourth quarter. Snap
will be taken with three seconds left on the play clock.

(02:33:30):
Two receivers left, one right. It's Evans makes the catch
on the right side in the flat to the forty
five to the forty seven as he's wrapped up in
the open field by Jayden Hartwell after a gain of
about three it's second and seven. But again on those
quick pop passes, the nice part is is it's a
high percentage pass in terms of a completion, so you
know you're gonna get usually a catch and not stop

(02:33:51):
the clock on an incompletion. It's just again high percentage here. Now,
how many yards are you gonna get? You don't really know,
Maybe not a lot, but at least it kind of
works like a running play in that way, right, you
know that you're likely going to have the clock still
running at the end of the play, regardless of how
many yards you get. One receiver left, one right type
pistol formation. And we've seen this lot from Stout today, Mowen.
We'll hand it off to Tolkien and running left takes

(02:34:12):
a hit at the line of scrimmage and then gets
tripped up from behind after gaining a yard of the
forty eight after he took that initial hit, I thought
he had a chance to bounce it out. But a
really nice job getting in the backfield there to make
the tackle my Dylan Dahlgren, and it'll be a one
yard game to their own forty eight yard line. So
third and six coming up for Stout. They can snap
this ball under seven minutes left to play, can you

(02:34:36):
they't get a first down here, then you're looking at
it around five minutes. If you don't get the next
first down before you have to give it away. So
this is a big play here. You could run a
lot of clock if you get the first down here.
If you're Stout, they're gonna split the tailback there out
for Stout, that is Dylan Nelson. Three receivers left, two
to the right, bring some pressure. Mowings not gonna get
away from it. He's wrapped up in sack back inside

(02:34:57):
the forty yard line to about the thirty eight and
a timeout taken by Dickinson state they want to stop
the clock immediately six forty eight. They might add a
couple seconds back onto this, but twenty two to seven,
Stout leads Dickenson State. Can clearly feel the momentum right now,
six forty eight to go. They didn't want another you know,
thirty to forty seconds to come off the clock there
before they get the ball back as well, they still

(02:35:19):
have two timeouts left d Dickinson State and just shooting
the gap to make that sack was a linebacker Riley Waters.
He had a sack and a half in two games
coming into this again. Dickenson State. THENAI a lot of
times they start in that week zero of college football
that you hear about so much, and that's what they
did this year. So they've had two games already, Stouts
only had the one. And again, it's a little bit

(02:35:42):
of experience. You played together a little bit more. Usually
that's a little bit of an advantage, I would say,
But Stout's had a little bit of a long layoff.
You're a little bit of a mini bye week, so
you know, I think Stout's maybe a little bit fresher,
but Dickinson State's played together a little bit more. How
that all works out, I mean, so far, Scout's got
the lead, so I'm not sure how much that's affected things.

(02:36:03):
But nonetheless a sack comes in there and Scout's gonna
have to punt this away, and again it's up to
Ben Carls. He's got to get a big boot into
this one into the win. He's going to stand at
his own twenty three yard line or so. Line of
scrimmage is the thirty eight, and the returner in Carson Hunter,
is standing in his own thirty yard line. Carls takes

(02:36:25):
the snap, gets this one away. It will be fair
COT's signal given and taking at the thirty three of
the Blue Hawks. So about kind of where you thought
that that would all work out. It ends up being
about a thirty two to thirty three yard punt right
in that range and good field position here. For Dickinson State,
they knew they'd have to win at their backs in
this fourth quarter. I'm sure they thought, hey, let's pick

(02:36:46):
up the momentum and do it all in the fourth
quarter again. They need two touchdowns and one of them
has to have a good two point conversion. The other
has to have a good extra point to tie the game.
I'd imagine if they score on this drive, they'll go
for two here. To kind of know what they can
do on the next but Stout's defense has got to
come up and all of a sudden, now the time
of possession switching back over towards this Bluehawks team as

(02:37:07):
Madler throws it over the middle incomplete, incomplete had him
man but only for about a two or three yard gain.
Viral or sidel rather was right there on the drop
pass by C. J. Stinson. Stinson also looks a little
bit shaken up after the play as well, was kind
of holding his right arm at his side a bit.
I think he might have just taken a shot in
the sensitive region there, but he's gonna go back up

(02:37:29):
to the line. Seems like he's all right. Second and
tent after the incompletion of the thirty five six point
forty left to go Stout twenty two Dickinson State seven
here from North Dakota. Two receivers left to right, ball
in the middle. Hashmark Madler back to pass, looking looking
he's got plenty of time, throws it. It is caught
at the forty eight yard line and across the fifty
into Stout territory to the forty two yard line, goes

(02:37:51):
Homage Clark. Homage Clark has been great today again, the
tempo offense is really killing this Blue Devil defense right now.
They need something to go right. That offensive line doing
a great job holding up the defense and South unable
to get any pressure. A little bit of pressure from
Sidel trying to make that tackle. Goodman got it in
the end. Now, ball at the Stout forty two first
and ten back to pass. Madler in the shotgun, got

(02:38:12):
lots of time looking left, looking to launch it toward
the end zone near side, wide open, catch made and
Dickenson states within a touchdown. Homage Clark gets the pass
caught again and Stout gets burned. Unbelievable samage Clark with
the touchdown reception forty two yards and he's in and

(02:38:35):
burning again. A backup cornerback for Stout and aj Hogan
who was into the game and just got behind him.
He was wide open. Six zho two to go. They're
gonna kick the extra point. Interesting. I think a lot
of teams would do the two pointer here to know
what they need to do moving forward. But we're gonna
kick the extra point here. Interestingly enough, snaff spot the

(02:38:57):
kick is up and through and it's twenty two to
four fourteen Stout with the lead, but Dickinson State has
scored two touchdowns here in the fourth. They've got the momentum,
they got the win. Stout needs a drive. Let's see
if they can get it when we come back here
on your home for blue double football.

Speaker 8 (02:39:45):
This is UW Stout Football on NOOS Talk wm.

Speaker 3 (02:39:49):
EQ Welcome back here to Dickinson, North Dakota Scouts defense
going a wall. You're in this fourth quarter is two touchdowns.
I've been score Will Madler now twenty one two for
three hundred and fifty five yards, two touchdowns of three picks.
As this kickoff will go through the back of the
end zone from Dickens and State Stout. We'll get it
at their own twenty five yard line. Again, Peteknutson with

(02:40:10):
you here on Newstock wm EQ. It's Stout football on
the road. We'll be bringing you the road games this
season here on Newstock wm EQ. And now Samage Clark
with that touchdown reception is up to one hundred and
eighteen yards receiving in this game. The one touchdown Adrian
Clark is at caldoraan rather with that fifty four yard
touchdown reception and man alive. I mean, the Blue Devils

(02:40:33):
defense needs an answer, and part of what could help
them is this offense staying on the field for some time.
Six pot two to go first and ten first out
at their own twenty five two timeouts left four Dickenson,
State one first out Adam Owen, then the shotgun. Two
receivers left, one right, send a man in motion. Oh boy,
that snap almost hit the motion man. Mowen's gonna run
it for a yard a yard to the left side

(02:40:55):
of the twenty six yard line, and scouts offense just
looks really it's almost like they're playing not scared, but
just the aggression of what they were doing when they
were getting the scores and when they were taking that
lead is just kind of gone. They're playing safe. I
guess safe is probably the best way to say it.
Two receivers to have left, one of the right on
the far hash mark here for Stout. Chase Hughes is

(02:41:18):
the back. Evan's on his own out to the right.
Clock running under five point thirty. When this snap is
taken second and nine, Adam Owon Waiting takes it with
eight seconds left on the play clock, throws left. It
is incomplete. Jumping the route there is Joey DeMarco and
he slaps it away from Bennett Letcher on that left side.
And right now the Blue Hawks are jumping routes. They're

(02:41:39):
reading Mowen like a book. And that stops the clock
at five twenty two left to play. And nothing feels
right right now for Stout after three really good quarters,
especially defensively. Everything going wrong right now for the Blue Devils.
You're gonna switch the ball out here. See if they
reset the play clock, doesn't really matter with the clock stopped. Yeah,

(02:42:02):
they'll reset it up to twenty five and gives down
a new twenty five. But again the clock stopped at
five twenty two, third and nine, gotta get the thirty
five for a first down. He uses the back they'll
send him in motion mowing looks right, He's gonna run
with it to the right side, gets a block, but
he does not have much gets to the twenty nine
yard line before he is taken down on the ankle tackle.

(02:42:23):
Dahlgren was there and Jack Hartman came up from the
safety spot to help out on it. I mean, that's
as quick of a three and out as you can get.
There is nothing going right for Stout at the moment.
It's an eight point Stout lead twenty two to fourteen,
and just like that we saw it. They can say,
Dickinson State do it before They're gonna take another time out,
So they now burn the second time out that they

(02:42:43):
have of this half. But it stops the clock at
five seventeen and on fourth and about six here, I mean,
Scout's gonna have to punt. But at the same time
they just I mean they ran no clock on that drive.
I mean that drive started at the six to zero
two mark and not even a minute has gone off

(02:43:05):
the clock on a quick three and out. One one
of the reasons is of course that incompletion on second down,
that's what killed the Blue Devils in terms of being
able to run clock here. So and again, in terms
of timeouts, Stout has one and now one left as
well for Dickinson State. They have scored twice in this

(02:43:26):
fourth quarter, and now it's fourth and seven. Stout's gotta
punt this one away. With Ben Carl's standing back at
his own fourteen yard line line of scrimmages the twenty
nine and into a pretty stiff win here in the
planes of North Dakota. Low snap, Oh, he bobbles it.
Carls picks it up, he's gonna run with it, and
he's wrapped up back inside the twenty yard line. A
terrible snap from the long snapper in Will Hammond, and

(02:43:50):
all Carls could do is scoop that up and just
pray that there was a hole. There was nothing there
and not the fault of Ben Carl's at all. Just
not a good snap, and it is go time for
Dickinson State. Man alive. I be honest, I can't remember
the last time I watched a football game that has

(02:44:10):
turned on a dime in terms of momentum and all
that kind of thing like we have seen here today.
So that was up twenty two to nothing to start
this fourth quarter. Everything rolling their way and it has
been all Dickinson State since. And now they've got it
in the red zone at the nineteen yard line after
Carls ran it back a few yards on the low

(02:44:31):
and the kind of skipped snap on the long snap
there for the punt, He's gonna try to get it
all here. Mattler steps up in the pocket, now rolls
to his right, throws it out to the right side.
Stintson catches it at the fourteen yard line inside the ten.
He's got the first down, pushed out of bounds once
again by the backup corner out there in aj Hogan.
But let's say why aj Hogan is in there unless

(02:44:51):
Richie Murphy is hurt, because Gavin Goodman is still in
the game. I haven't seen much from Richie Murphy lately. Oh,
and they are taking advantage of the freshman defensive back
from Chicago again a transfer from Carol but he has
had some struggles out there. Is gave up that last
touchdown as well. It's the seven yard line first in

(02:45:13):
goal here for the Bluehawks. Four to forty left to
play in the fourth quarter, Stout leading twenty two to fourteen.
On Dickinson state little motion here, they handed off to Stintson.
He is down to the five, gets hit at the five,
his helmet comes off, and now he's pushed backwards and
luckily he seems to be okay. I hope yeah, he
gets up fine two yard game there for Stintson, he'll

(02:45:34):
have to come out of the game with the helmet
coming off. They should roll the clock now, and they do.
Four to twenty and ticking left to play here in
the contest, Stout up by a touchdown and a two
point conversion. That's why I like going for the two
point conversion on the last touchdown. Then you know if
you need the two point conversion here, if you need
another score, you just kind of know earlier what you

(02:45:55):
need to do. Now you miss the two point conversion here,
if you score a touchdown, you're in some trouble. But
there's still some time. Four minutes left to play here
in the fourth quarter. On some confusion here for the
Blue Hawks. On the play four seconds on the play clock,
they send some receivers out to the left side. They're
set one second left. Take the snap Madler to throw
over the Millet's intercepted again fourth interception, had a chance
to return it. Here's money heis and he's gonna go

(02:46:17):
down slide down. Why do he do that? At the
twenty five yard line. Money Heisen gets the interception but
slides down for some reason at about the thirty he
had a chance. I mean, he would have been likely tackled,
but why not try to take it all the way back?
He was getting some pressure and just decided to slide down.
I guess he didn't want to fumble, and he slides
down about the twenty five yard line. I'm not really

(02:46:38):
sure why you did that, but nonetheless it is an
interception and it gets the job done as the fourth
interception of the game. And this is the backup linebacker
Braxton money Heisen. And for all the good that has
been done by Dickinson State and Madler, here in this
fourth quarter they throw another interception, his fourth of the game.
And now stout. I mean Dickinson State's down one timeout,

(02:47:00):
They two two first downs and they might be able
to run out the clock here three for sure, but
two should probably get it done. Handoff Tokenen up the
gut left side, now rolls off some tackles, he stays
on his feet across the thirty and he's up right
to the thirty yard line is where they'll mark him
down a five yard gain on the tackle for Cooper

(02:47:22):
McLoughlin from the cornerback spot had to be the last
guy to get him. And it's second and five and
Stout will try to run the play clock down as
much as they can. They can take the snap under
three minutes if they do it right and again, Dickinson
State only one time out.

Speaker 23 (02:47:36):
Now.

Speaker 3 (02:47:36):
The new wrinkle, of course in college football is there's
a two minute timeout slash two minute warning, so they're
gonna have an extra timeout there too, So basically two
timeouts for Dickinson State here if you include the two
minute warning as well. Ten seconds left on the play clock.
Mohen is ready back in the shotgun. Two receivers left.
Tolkien and to his right takes the snap with three
minutes exactly left to play here in the quarter, and

(02:47:58):
the handoff is given and they read it again and
got the stop in the backfield there. Good stop by
Dolgren and shooting the gap I think was one of
the other linebackers. Nate Gillick was there as well for
a loss of a couple back to the twenty seven
yard line. Yeah, they read that one perfectly in Stout.
I mean they lost a couple of blocks there pretty quickly.
And now third and eight for Stout and again with

(02:48:20):
one time outlet for Dickinson State. If Stout doesn't convert here,
they'll likely take it and then have a chance to
get it back before the two minute warning and basically
have the two minute warning is a timeout ten seconds
on the play clock. You could take the snap around
two fifteen somewhere in there. Man in motion is Hockinson
and the snap taken by Mowen rolls too is right.

(02:48:40):
Pressure coming throws ray Bauer makes the catch. There is
a flag on the play. This looks like it's holding
on Stout. He got maybe a yard. The problem is
the flag. The flag I think is gonna stop the
clock without making Dickenson State have to take a time out,
so they'll decline the penalty, but they have the option
to keep the clock stopped as well does Dickinson State.

(02:49:04):
Let's just make sure that that's the case. It is
holding on Ben Tolkienen penalty has declined. It is fourth down,
and I believe the clock will stay stopped because the
penalty was on Stout. So Dickinson State has the option
to keep it stopped and they will. So yeah, I
mean Tolkienen just tackled line packer who was coming in

(02:49:26):
there to try to make the stop. I think that
was Shelle Osborne that he just tackled, basically. And now
we get a whistle here, and what's the issue? Somebody
took it to Stout take their time out. That would
be a not so good time out to take, I
don't think. And the holding was declined, and we do
get a time out here with two to eleven left

(02:49:48):
to play, and I believe Stout has taken their final
time out. I don't know why. I don't know Dickinson State.
Oh so Dickenson State had to call the time out,
I mean told because the clock would have run anyway,
so that they did not have the option to stop
the clock there because of the penalty. So they took

(02:50:08):
their third time out to Dickinson State. At least that's
what we're being told here in the press box. And
so that's their last time out. They have no timeouts
left now, at two eleven left, they'll get the two
minute timeout. I mean it's two eleven left. We'll keep
it here obviously, but there's two eleven left. The only
way that they don't get the two minute timeout is

(02:50:29):
if somehow this punt play takes more than eleven seconds.
And the way that it would is Stout could punt
this one and then let the ball roll, and if
they can get it under two minutes, it could be
in good shape. Here's a snap, Ben Carls gets it away.
It was a good snap. This time the punt is taken.
It will be returned at the thirty four yard line,
forty to the forty five and taken down with two

(02:50:49):
oh three to go across the forty five yard line too,
about the forty six maybe the forty seven here for
the return man in Carson Hunter. So a good field
position for Dickens in state two o three to go,
and they do have the two minute time out because
only two oh three is left here as well. So
now we get a there's some discussion here. Are they

(02:51:13):
saying that maybe this was a fair catch? They're bringing
this ball back, Oh, he must have signaled for a
fair catch. And then took off with it. I think
he was hoping the officials didn't see it, and so
they're marking him back all the way to the twenty
seven yard line as well. So how about that. So

(02:51:33):
a fair catch was signaled and then he ran with it,
So the marking back to the twenty seven and with
two o three to go, they're gonna have to go
seventy three yards to try to tie this game. Stout
twenty two Dickinson State fourteen two oh three left to play.
Two receivers right to left, one in motion from right
to left, go Stintson. They look for Stintson, he's not there.
Back to pass. Madler still looking, got plenty of time,

(02:51:55):
throws it right side, caught near the first down marker.
They'll give him the first down yardage. It should be
the two minute timeout. They didn't run the clock for
some reason, so let's see one fifty eight is what
they put on. I think here officials are gonna have
to figure out the clock. The clock operator didn't start
it right away, but I think we're gonna have about
one fifty eight left after the two minute timeout. It

(02:52:16):
was a first down up to the thirty eight yard
line on the play, so a gain of eleven on
the play. We're gonna sort this all out when we
come back twenty two to fourteen stout with the lead
under two minutes left the two minute timeout. Here back
after this here on news Dock WMQ.

This is UW Stout Football on Newstalk wm EQ.

Speaker 3 (02:53:12):
So welcome back in here to Dickinson, North Dakota. One
fifty eight on the clock is gonna be an official time.
They're gonna run five seconds off the clock after that
play before the two minute time out. It is a
first down here for Dickinson State to the thirty eight
yard line. Out on the field, there's Pete Stanton trying
to get some clarification from the officials, head coach for

(02:53:33):
Dickinson State. I don't think they ran the clock right away,
so part of that was the discussion there as well.
And so off we go. All right, three receivers left,
one right, right to left go Dickinson State. On the
far hash mark, it's Will Mandler in the shotgun. He's
had an up and down day, four interceptions, two touchdown passes.
Back to pass looking looks to go left. He throws

(02:53:55):
it over the middle cot across the fifty yard line
and into south territory of the forty seven yard line
by Smage Clark catch. May They're gonna get up to
the line quickly here and try to run the plays.
We get a quick look at the replay up in
the booth. A good catch made over the middle as
they find the soft spot in the zone. Ball came
out at the end as well, but not the case there.
Back to passer, goes Madler. He's gonna throw left side

(02:54:15):
incomplete and that will stop the clock. They tried to
go left side here to Calder, and it was incomplete.
Second and ten now coming up from the Stout forty
six is where they marked him officially, clock stopped on
the incompletion. One forty two left to play here in
the game Stout twenty two Dickinson State fourteen. There may
have been some confusion with the timeouts as well. Dickinson

(02:54:37):
State should have nothing left. Stout has one left and
now back to pass Madler here after the incompletion throws
it left, catch made and out of bounds inside the
forty five to the forty three yard line. Just a
quick out to the near side to his safety. Volve there,
Valve there rather than Brendan zero off. He gets about
five yards on the play. Our pardon me, he'll get

(02:55:01):
about four yards on the play. Third and six here
for Dickinson State at the Stout forty three yard line,
Stout showing blitz. Will they bring it? Three receivers right,
one left, four man rush here for Stout trying to
get back there his side. Now he's being held. No call,
Madler gonn launch a deep left side up incomplete. He

(02:55:22):
had a chance at his running back, not really a
wheel route, but just kind of out of the backfield
and zerof rather unable to make the catch on the
near side line, it'll be fourth and six and this
is the ballgame here for Dickinson State. If they do
not convert, this game is over. They have no timeouts left.
With one thirty four left to play, it is fourth

(02:55:43):
and six from the Stout forty three yard line. They
need the thirty seven for a first down. One thirty
four remains. Two receivers left, two to the right, Stout
trying to pick up their first win. A stop here
would get it. CJ. Sinson goes in motion left to
right across the formation on the near hash mark. It's
Madler in the shock takes the snap, four man rush.
First out looks up to roll right, steps up looking

(02:56:04):
for time. Nobody open launches it deep near sided is
up and it is deflected, but a flag comes in.
Oh my goodness, just a jump ball thrown up, and
I think they're gonna get pass interference here on AJ Hogan,
you gotta be kidding me, Samage Clark was down. I
mean it was just a jump ball, and I mean
Hogan probably grabs onto him. But this is just one

(02:56:25):
of those where like it's a jump ball thrown up.
It's like a hail mary. Almost you don't call I mean,
that's that's not pass interference on a hail mary type
of play, that's terrible. Pass interference is the call. They're
gonna move them up fifteen yards and it's first down
Dickinson State one twenty five left. The only positive here

(02:56:47):
should city only, but the one positive you have going
for you. If Dickinson State scores and they get the
two point, it's tied. Right. They can't win the game
on this drive. They can certainly lose it though. Two
receivers right, two to the left, now here for Maddler.
The ball is at the twenty eight yard line of
sout first and ten after the passinger appearance catch mad

(02:57:07):
over the middle. For Stinson, he's up to the twenty
to the nineteen yard line, ripped back there as multiple
blue Devil. Schneider was there along with Sidell and again
that backup corner in a j hogan, but good yardage
up to the nineteen yard line. Second and one after
a nine yard game, Madler ready to go one oh
five left to play back to pass looking over the middle.
Nothing there. Stout get some pressure wraps him up second

(02:57:30):
back at the thirty yard line. What a play from
the former running back Carter Fonger drops him in the backfield,
and that's gonna waste some time here as Madler is
down back at the thirty yard line, it'll be third
and long, third and twelve here for Dickinson State. At
the thirty third and twelve, they need to get it
to the eighteen yard line for a first down. They
can of course go four it on fourth as well.

(02:57:52):
Clock ticking thirty seven, thirty six, thirty five left to go.
Madler looks and he takes the snap. Four man rush
here first out there after him trying to get He's
got plenty of time to throw. God to get some
pressure here Sidel trying to get back to him, still
going after him, Mose making the pressure. Throw it near side,
caught at the twenty eight yard line. Down here the
twenty seven. He got out of bounds. They're gonna say
on the near side ed Gunlock to make the catch

(02:58:14):
and they will stop the clock with twenty two seconds left.
That is huge, they say he somehow got out of bounds.
Kind of hard because you have the players standing kind
of in front of where we can see whether he
did if his knee was down in bounds or not.
And now there is a whistle personal foul here, Roughing
the passer's been called. Oh my god, oh my goodness, boy,

(02:58:35):
if you ever felt like you were playing against more
than just one team here this far away from Menominee,
it certainly feels that way. Roughing the passer called on
that pass. So the clock says stopped. It's gonna move
inside the fifteen after that game to the about the
fourteen thirteen yard line first and ten twenty two seconds
left for Dickinson State stout twenty two Dickinson State fourteen,

(02:58:59):
Holy cow. Two receivers left, two right, Madler back to
pass whistles a whistle here. I don't know if they
I don't think they'd started the play clock. And they
took the snap early, and so should put the clock
back at twenty two seconds instead of twenty one. But

(02:59:21):
again they took the snap without the play clock starting again,
have the ready for play whistle basically, and that was
not given. Roughing the passer was called on Nick mose
on that last play. Unbelievable pass interference on a roughing

(02:59:41):
the passer on the last drive of regulation. And I'll
tell you what. Both of them are very very suspect
here today, all right, ball at the thirteen yard line,
first and ten. Now the play clock is running, the
game clock at twenty two seconds. Twenty two to fourteen.
Stout leads out, bringing the pressure. I'll throw right side
up for Stintson. That is two too far on the
far side. Incomplete coverage from Gavin Goodman. Again. Richie Murphy

(03:00:05):
has not played much in this game at the corner spot.
Not sure if he was hurt or what the case was.
But aj Hogan's been in at the other side, and
this time they go at Goodman and they have not
thrown at him much because he has been good and
locked in. And right now I think Goodman's just kind
of shadowing. CJ. Stinson saying, I Am not gonna let
you make the catch. Let's see if they try to
go the other side toward aj Hogan. Nineteen seconds. Only

(03:00:29):
three seconds came off the clock somehow. On that play,
here is Madler back to pass four man rush again,
another throw out to the right side. It's incomplete nowhere
close to Stintson. They're on the wrong page there. Sinson
thought it was a kind of a fly route to
the back corner of the end zone. I think Madler
thought that was an out route near the first down marker,
and he just threw it incomplete. Third and ten now
sixteen seconds remain Stout twenty two Dickinson State fourteen no

(03:00:55):
timeouts for Dickinson State. Remain one time out for Stout.
Fans making some noise here in Dickinson Two receivers left,
two to the right here for Dickinson State. Nine seconds
on the play clock, clock stopped at sixteen. Back to
pass Maddler. Stout gonna bring a pressure through the back

(03:01:16):
corner of the end zone one head of grab. Did
he come down with it in bounds or they say
he was out of bounds?

Speaker 8 (03:01:21):
No, he caught it in bounds.

Speaker 3 (03:01:22):
It's touchdown Dickinson State. Samage Clark made a one handed
gram in the back corner of the end zone. How
in the world did he come down with that one?
Let's look at the replay here in the left arm,
and sure enough he has that left foot in and
once again they exposed the backup cornerback in aj Hogan
for Stout. It's twenty two to twenty Stout with the lead.
The two point conversion is indeed the ballgame. Thirteen seconds remain.

(03:01:48):
Another touchdown here in the fourth quarter for Dickinson State.
Stout gets a stop here, they win it and time
out Stout they will burn their final time out of
the game. So it all comes down to this. If
Dickon State converts were likely headed to overtime. If they don't,
Stout will win here on the road in a game
that they were up twenty two to nothing and it's

(03:02:08):
now twenty two to twenty. Dickinson State has been helped
out by a suspect pass interference call on fourth down
earlier in this drive. They also got helped out by
a third down roughing the passer call on Nick Mose
and Stout has come up against pretty much everything you
can handle on this drive and they finally finish it off.

(03:02:30):
It was a twelve play, seventy three yard drive. It
takes just under two minutes and ends up with Dickinson
State in the end zone. What a catch from Samage Clark,
you got. I mean, you gotta give Samage Clark credit
for all the you know, complaining we might do about
some of the calls on that drive that the touchdown

(03:02:50):
catch is a touchdown catch and Samage Clark has been
ridiculous today. One hundred and forty eight yards receiving two touchdowns,
Madler with the three or four innerce but three touchdowns
and four hundred twenty yards through the air, which is
just crazy, all right. So here's a two point conversion play.
Here we go twenty two to twenty. Stout two point
conversion coming up. It's CJ. Stinson emotion left to right.

(03:03:12):
Stout with a three man front, Madler back to pass.
He's gonna roll to his right, look to the corner
of the end zone. Now he throws it back across
the way complete broken up in the back of the
end zone by Dawson Goodman. Guess what this time, folks,
no flags on the play in the Blue Devils are
gonna come away with a win here in western North Dakota.
After all that, after the huge comeback for Dickinson State,

(03:03:34):
it's a two point conversion play and a breakup by
Dawson Goodman in the back of the end zone on
the two point conversion that's gonna get Stout the win
here today. We'll see an onside kick from Dickinson State
right after this here on your home for Blue Devils football.

Speaker 3 (03:04:29):
Welcome back to Dickinson State. Three touchdowns for Dickinson State
here in this fourth quarter, but the two point conversion
fails and Stout takes a twenty two to twenty lead
with thirteen seconds left on sidekick coming up here for
Dickinson State falling on by the Blue Devils and the
game is gonna be over. I believe who was up

(03:04:49):
front there was that couldn't have been Jackson Mack. Was
it Jackson Mac? No way, Yeah, it was Caleb Tim.
Caleb Tim, the veteran falls on at the hands seam
there and he might make one of the bigger plays
of the game. The biggest one though, mained by Dawson
Goodman in the back of the end zone on the
two point conversion attempt for Dickinson State. No timeouts remain.
It's victory formation time for the Blue Devils is they're

(03:05:10):
gonna move to one and one on the season. Had
a Mowen going under center. What a hard fought victory
here today on a windy, blustery day in western North Dakota.
Snap and the knee, and that's gonna do it. Dickinson
State is the real deal in the NAIA. They are
the sixteenth rank team in the country for a reason.
They beat Stout in Menominee last year. But Stout gets

(03:05:33):
the road victory here today and they will celebrate. It
was a long trip yesterday, a long bonding experience, and
sure enough Stout gets the job done here today on
the road in Dickinson After that, that's on sidekick, handshakes
all around, good sportsmanship from both guys. Are both the
sides rather is this game is over all right, Let's

(03:05:55):
take a one minute break. We got all the stats.
We're ready to go. Dan, We'll take a one minute break.

Speaker 3 (03:07:29):
Welcome back in here to Dickinson, North Dakota, Western North
Dakota Mountain time as well. It's only three point fifty
four here in Dickinson, but almost five o'clock back in
Monominee and a big win for Stout today, twenty two
to twenty over Dickinson State, as Dickinson State scored twenty
points in the fourth and almost got this game time

(03:07:49):
on a failed two point conversion attempt, which is thirteen
seconds remaining here in the contest. Again, Peconotson with the air,
happy to have you along with us, and boy, what
a game to come back on the era on the
radio side here on the road in North Dakota. As
Stout gets the win twenty two to twenty, they improve
to now one and one on the season. Dickinson State
balls to two and one again. You know it's weird, right,

(03:08:12):
when you're in the NAIA. This game I don't think
counts much in terms of rankings and that just from
that standpoint because you're playing an NCAAD three team, but
certainly counts in the record for Stout and they are
certainly happy about the way this one ended. As coach
Birmingham will continue and complete the huddle after this ball
game today here in Dickinson. All right, let's take you

(03:08:33):
through the final stats and then we'll take you through
the scoring. We'll give you those final scores and all
that kind of thing as well today. But I'll tell
you what, in the end of things, the Blue Devils,
you know, they were the team that was kind of
leading the way in terms of total yards and all
that sort of thing early in this game. That game
that flipped on its head.

Speaker 2 (03:08:49):
Here.

Speaker 3 (03:08:50):
By the end of the day, Dickinson State ends up
with twenty two first downs. Twenty of them were through
the air, one rushing, one penalty first down as well,
they were only four of fourteen though on third down
Stout was six of eighteen on a third down. They
had seventeen first downs in the game as well. Total yards,
Stout was out gained in this game four thirty two
to two seventy six. Probably some of the fatigue of

(03:09:12):
the travel and that kind of thing that kind of
hurt them in that fourth quarter certainly as well. The
Blue Doubles end up with one hundred and ninety one
yards through the air four hundred and twenty through the
air for Dickinson State, they only twelve yards on the ground.
They basically just kind of sold out for the pass
as they kind of needed to when they were down
three scores starting the fourth quarter as well, So that's

(03:09:32):
kind of how things worked out. Some late penalties it
really hurt Stout. That's gonna be stuff that I'm sure
coach Birmingham wats to clean up before next week against Northwestern. Individually,
Adam Ohen went eighteen of thirty for the Blue Doubles
one hundred and ninety one yards, two touchdowns, no interceptions.
Will Maddler on the other side through fifty five times
today twenty eight to fifty five, four hundred and twenty yards,

(03:09:52):
the three touchdowns, but the four interceptions are the big one.
That's the big problem today for Dickinson State. Maddler through
too many interceptions in too many important spots, and Stout
was Johnny on the spot to pick him off. Mowen
was the leading rusher today thirty two yards on the ground.
Chase Hughes had twenty eight yards on the ground, Dylan
Nelson seventeen, Ben Tolkienen fourteen rees. Turner with five He

(03:10:14):
also fumbled the ball in this game as well. Again
not much rushing. Zerof had only thirteen yards rushing for
the Bluehawks here today. Through the air, it was DeVante
Evans who led the way for the Blue Devils seven
receptions of seventy six yards. Bennett Letcher had three receptions
for thirty seven yards and a touchdown as well. Carter's
Azoka only two catches for thirty Tanner Hockinson twenty one

(03:10:36):
yards on two receptions. He also had one touchdown for
the Blue Devils and the other side, Samash Clark was
great right five receptions for one hundred and forty eight
yards to touchdown. CJ. Stinson added some late as well,
got over one hundred yard mark eight receptions for one
hundred and ten. Aiden calder On had a reception for
a touchdown a fifty four yard one as well. Earlier
in the contest the scoring looked like this. It was

(03:10:58):
all Stout early four yard field goal in the early
second quarter nine to fifty eight left made it three
to nothing. He'd add another a few minutes later make
it six to nothing. That was a forty five yard
or Tanner Hockinson then caught a eighteen yard touchdown pass
from Adam Mohen with one eleven left to go in
the second quarter make it twelve to nothing. They went
for two, and I think a thing to note here

(03:11:18):
going into next week. Patrick Corkoran did not continue in
the game with an injury that he picked up. Let's
hope that he is back next week because he's a
vital piece of this team moving forward here. In twenty
twenty four, then Bennettletecher would score on a twenty four
yard touchdown pass from Adam Mohen with nine to forty
three left to go in the third quarter of that
game of the game as well, and then Luke Cool

(03:11:39):
would add another field goal with eleven seconds left in
the third quarter to make it twenty two to nothing Stout,
But it was all Dickinson State in the fourth a
fifty four yard touchdown reception from Adrian Cauldron made it
twenty two to seven with nine thirty eight left to go,
Stout would go three and out pretty quickly. Samage Clark
would then catch a forty three yard touchdown pass at

(03:12:01):
six zho two left to go. Was twenty two to fourteen.
At that point Stout had a chance to convert, didn't
get it, got the ball back to Dickinson State right
about at the two minute time out, and Samage Clark
would catch that ball in the back corner of the
end zone beautifully with one hand for fourteen yard touchdown
reception from Will Madler after a roughing the passer and
a pass interference called the pass interference one. Still I'm

(03:12:23):
trying to wrap my head around that one. Also with
thirteen seconds left, but the two point conversion failed, broken
up by Dawson Goodman. Twenty two to twenty. Stout had
the lead and then Caleb tim fell on the on
sidekick to give the Blue Devils the win here today,
all right, quick look around again the Wyak Whitewater win.
They moved to two and oh they beat Roosevelt today
in Illinois on the road, twenty four to fourteen. It

(03:12:46):
was a two overtime win for co Over Oh Claire
today forty three to forty one. I don't quite have
all the details on how all that happened, but just
absolutely wow. I'm gonna have to get a look back
at the replay there to see how that all went down.
But Oaklair loses today and they moved to one and
one as Co comes into Carson Park to beat them.
Lacrosse with a thirty five to twenty one win over

(03:13:08):
Northern Michigan, a D two team there. So Lacrosse improves
the two and oh and they'll stay up in the
top ten in the Division three as well. Oshkosh wins
at home twenty eight to twenty one over Lynnfield today.
Lynfield from Oregon making the trip in. Oshkosh is looking
like Oshkosh usually does here early in the season. Steven's
point with a twenty four to three win over Saint Norbert. Again.

(03:13:28):
Platteville is in action at I believe seven o'clock tonight.
They'll take on Dubuque. River Falls is off this weekend.
They will host Greenville out of Illinois. That's a pretty
solid squad there, and then they will head to Mount
Saint Joseph and Ohio the next week. They'll be the
only team in action in the WYAK on Saturday, September
twenty eighth. All the rest of the teams have buys
before the conference season starts, and South Soccer men's and

(03:13:52):
women's losing earlier. Volleyball just underway in that second match
against Concordia that's down at White that's actually one you

New episodes every Monday and Friday. Your support means the world to me and I don’t take it for granted — click the follow button and leave a review to help us spread the love with On Purpose.
