been so proud to be a partof things in downtown Nashville. My
name is Wayne d and I gottatell you our whole crew has been just
amped about this experience and to beable to bring it to you in podcast
form. Let's head to the stage. Tequila Cowboy in Downtown Nashville. Day
four brings you Matt Stell first,Tucker we More. All Right, y'all,
(00:21):
let's get this party started. WelcomeTucker web More. Y'all could do
better than that. Makes some noise, y'all. We are kicking off Sunday
at CMA Fest. All right,We're gonna do a little Q and a
sash before he performs. So anybodyin the front that has a censored question,
(00:46):
be nice. Okay, I wantJoji. If it's on the censor,
we'll get We'll get to those herein just a second. But CMA
Fest, I feel like for you, you've been in Nashville for what four
years now? This maam, it'sa little different this year. Yeah.
I remember being drunk on Broadway somewhereout there about a year ago today at
CMA Fest as a fan and uh, being on the opposite end of that
(01:11):
right now, I'm just so blessed. Seriously. I love your story too,
of how football has kind of beenthe passion of your life, that's
what you thought you were going tobe doing, and sort of God kind
of pulling the rug under from underneathyour feet from that one and saying you've
got a different path. Tell usa little bit about that story and how
that happened. Absolutely. So.I went to Montana right after, right
(01:36):
after right after high school and playeda year of football there and everything was
looking good. It just didn't reallyfeel right towards the end there, and
I think for like about a monthand a half there and uh, I
had Uh. I remember getting homeone day and I kind of locked myself
in the bathroom and I was like, I just started bawling. I was
(01:57):
weeping. I was like, hey, man, I know it's been a
while, but I need a signand I need a fast because I don't
know, I don't know what I'mdoing with my life. And dried myself
up, went to bed that day, and then went to practice the next
day and first play ran a postover the middle and broke my leg in
three places. So I was like, that's my sign right there. And
I moved back home about a weeklater, got surgery and never went back.
(02:21):
And then now you're in Nashville pursuingan incredible dream that is just crushing
it right now. You guys fansa tucker or what I mean, not
grateful that you broke your leg,but kind of gratefully. I'm grateful I
broke my leg. So we weretalking a little bit earlier about how summer
Olympics are coming, and you weretalking about you you can pole vault back
in the day. Yeah, y'all, do you think you could pull vault?
(02:45):
No? Every He's like, absolutelynot. You said you're a big
fan of it though you love watchingit. Oh, I love it.
It's great. If I could goback and do like any sport, football
would be the number one, butmy number two would be pull volt probably
right. Well, listen, we'regonna leave fule vaulting to you because mesa
months pregnant. I'm not pull vaultinganytime too, There's absolutely no way.
So being a fan of CMA Festand then now being on stage at CMA
(03:07):
Fest, what are some of thosemoments you remember being here as a fan
and some of your favorite moments toexperience on the other side. Yeah,
I mean it was hot. That'swhat I remember. I've been blessed this
year because they put me in likeac rooms. I'm like, that's great.
But I don't know. I justremember being hot and uh, you
know, trying to drink away thedrink away the day, trying to get
(03:29):
through it. But I don't know. I've been a fan of country music
for as long as I can remember, and you know, CMA Fest is
a really good way to get everyonein one place at one time. And
I don't know, this is thisis the weekend that I look forward to
almost every year since living here andbeing able to perform this year and how
everything's going, I don't know,it's just it's crazy. Well, we
(03:52):
got to talk about winding to Whiskeyreally quick because I feel like this is
kind of the song. Yeah, you can make some noise for that that
everybody's really starting to notice who youare who might not have known who you
are. And then you know, just us playing it with iHeart country and
you being here on stage with us. What is having a song that people
are finally wrapping their arms around andhearing what is that like for you as
(04:14):
an artist? So I've been writingsongs in Nashville for about three and a
half years now, and every singleday is a new song, sometimes even
two songs a day. And youknow, my management team, so I
signed a publishing deal about three yearsago, and my manager has just been
like, hey, let's hold off, let's hold off on teasing, let's
hold off on stuff because we inthat time, we've written some really good
(04:36):
songs and I've wanted to, youknow, jump the gun a little bit,
and she's like, just hold off. We need stuff to back it
up with. And she would alwaysjust tell me that. I'm like,
yes, ma'am, I trust you. And you know, last December November
time, we came to a conclusionit's like, hey, we should probably
start teasing some stuff, and wantedto Whiskey was one of the first that
(04:57):
I teased. And it resonated prettywell with everyone, I would say,
and it just took off and it'sdoing what it's doing now. And you
know, being at shows like thisand singing to t you guys and having
y'all sing it back to me.It's it's what I've always wanted. Truly,
Are you guys ready to hear themsing some songs? All right?
iHeart Country House Party makes some noisefor Tucker. What far? And now

(07:16):
here for iHeart Country House Party. Were any of you here last year for
this awesome welcome back? I knowyou were on a flight this morning,
though. Tell us about your weekend. This is your first CMA Fest activity.
No, it's well. So westarted off Thursday at the Riverfront stage
yeah, hell yeah, it wasgreat. Beaver Dam was in the house
absolutely, and then we went touh, Wisconsin and Minnesota, and then
(07:41):
I left. I left Minnesota thismorning at like midnight, so rock and
roll, man, let's go Hairof the Dog. Y'all were about to
have a party here. Okay,is the tattoos real? Right? The
new one? Okay? All right? I just wanted to make sure Zel
he's got a new album out. They just came about Friday. An someone
(08:03):
I won't mention her name was tellingme this story about your mom and how
she thought the tattoo wasn't real.Yeah, it's because I lied to her.
I told her it was temporary. And then she was like a couple
months and she was like, thatthing is really wearing off. And I
was like, well, mom,is temporary in the way that the Mississippi
River is temporary. One day itwill cease to flow and this tattoo will
(08:26):
cease to be And she did notthink that was as funny as we just
did at all. Sorry, mom, it's not going anywhere. Yeah,
well, tell us about the album, because I feel like it's been a
minute since we've gotten so much newmusic from you. This is exciting.
Oh man, this week has beenunbelievable. You know, got to hang
out CMA Fest, hang out withyou, get to release new music.
(08:48):
This record means a lot to me. I'll hope you'll just listen to it.
Find something that matters you know onit. I wrote it from a
really real place, and that's allI'll say. On your way home.
It makes a great hungover soundtrack,So put that thing in your ears,
give it a listen, and I'lltell you, tell you we'll do.
We'll do a couple of fan questionshere in a second, So if any
(09:09):
of you all have questions, thinkabout those for a minute. But I
got to say this, and Idon't want to call you out, but
last year on this stage, Iremember specifically we were talking about you forgetting
the name of a girl on adate. And then on the Bobby Bone
Show this past Friday, we're publiclyfull launching that we're in a relationship.
Hell yes, yeah, no,yes, yes, different, it's different,
(09:37):
it's cool, it's good, she'sshe's cool. And uh yes,
why am I uncomfortable to talk aboutto be uncharted territory for me? Well,
everybody, we're all, we're allin favor of this right. Heck,
yes, you're doing the thing.More love songs, more exciting things
coming. Yeah, it'd be niceto have some more love songs. Absolutely.
(10:00):
Do we have any fan questions herein the front. What you got?
What's your favorite meal from your mom? That's a good post. My
favorite meal from my mom was whenwe drovet to my grandma's house. I
love my mom. She's the best. She is a badass. She's a
barrel racer, champion barel racer, just one of the Senior Olympics on a
five on five basketball tournament, gota pH d as a single mom pretty
(10:24):
much, and she can do everythingexcept cook man, bless her heart.
She was busy. She was busy, kicking ass and so so. Yeah,
but that's a good question. Anybodygot a mom that can cook some
good food that can bring it tomap maybe next time? Y'all? Okay
right here? All right? Ohyeah, you got a question. Do
(10:45):
you want a case of spotted cowman that is so delicious? I drank
one of those this weekend when Iwas in Rice, late Wisconsin. It's
fantastic. Spotted cow is pretty good. You know what it? Spotted cow
for be sounds good right now.But I can't have one. Dang,
you can smell one, though, could Like if I had one, I
could just let you smell it.That'd just be rude. I saw we
had one more question. Who hadtheir hand up right here? Don't be
(11:09):
afraid. Favorite song you've ever written? That's a great question right now.
Born Lonely is my favorite song. The title track to this record, thank
You. Yeah Smooth is also anotherone of my favorites. And uh yeah,
good question. They're like, youknow, all my favorites at different
times, but yeah, good question. All right, before we get things
(11:30):
started. Being at CMA Fest asan artist obviously is exciting, but being
here as a fan, like onthe other side of it. Yeah,
do you have any memories from theother side of being at CMA Fest where
you're like, now I get tobe up here, this is just real
cool. Yeah. I mean Iremember the first time I ever played CMA
Fest. I was playing in likethe lobby. I was playing basically the
gift shop of Bridgestone Arena, likeyou could like by Predators Jerseys where I
(11:56):
was playing, and that was cool, and you know I was I played
Prayed for you there and I stillplay it to this day, and we
moved from there the riverfront stage tobudget to hear getting getting the count.
This is the last. This isthe last thing of Tequila Cowboy right right
now, this is this is thefinale. This is the see. See
(12:18):

hours ago was when we left, and we're here and we're proud to be
