Speaker 1 (00:00):
We got the turkey drop for Meltrodter Ministries coming up
next Wednesday, and we're worried because a lot of food
pantries were stretched thin when Snap benefits were put on
a hold because of the government shutdown, an awful lot
of food pantries were worried too. The Consumer's Energy Foundation
stepped up recently and announced two hundred and fifty thousand

(00:20):
dollars donation to support emergency food delivery from Michiganders on
the liveline with us this morning to talk about their
generosity once again. Trisha Bloombergen with Consumers Energy, thank you
so much for doing.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
This today of coury, thanks for having me on so.

Speaker 1 (00:38):
Talk to us a little bit about what motivated you
all to step up once again.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
At the Consumer's Energy Foundation, we strongly believe that nobody
should go hungry. So we heard a few weeks ago
that folks hired me to food and that they're struggling
to access it. So we reached out to the Food
Bank Council of Michigan to see how we can help.
Is it time the treasure? What did they need? And

(01:04):
they said what they could really benefit is support for
their food home delivery program.

Speaker 1 (01:10):
Talk to us a little bit about that food home
delivery program.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
Absolutely. So the food home delivery program is really geared
to qualified folks that aren't able to access food in
traditional ways, either at the food bank or going to
local services. So this program will provide food directly to
the doorstep of seniors or folks with disabilities. And these

(01:35):
packages are seven days worth of protein shelf stable food,
so it really sets them up for success for a week.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
Give us a little more about the Foundation. I think
you know, we talk to you guys a lot after
storms or when we get some sort of breaking news
about something that may affect our service, but we don't
necessarily think about what's going on behind the scenes with
the Foundation. So talk to about a little bit about
your mission.

Speaker 2 (02:01):
Absolutely, thanks for asking more about the Foundation. It is
a really big passion for our company. The Foundation focuses
on our three core values, which are people pre in
it and the prosperity of our communities. So we look
for opportunities to align with those three values. And when
we heard about this initiative where folks are really in

(02:23):
need of food, we knew we could reach out to
our partners at the Food Bay Council of Michigan and
see what we could do to help.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
Make sure that we get a link in the podcast
section at woodradio dot com to find out more with
Consumers Energy, Tricia Bloomberg and a pleasure, Thank you so
much for your time today.

Speaker 2 (02:41):

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
