Speaker 1 (00:00):
Let's talk a little bit about the big parade this
weekend that may spark some demonstrations. We've heard about those
in West Michigan as well. On the liveline with us
this morning on Wood Radio is Rory O'Neil, NBC News
Radio National correspondent once again. Good morning, Hey.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
There, Good morning, Steve.

Speaker 1 (00:17):
So talk to us a little bit about the group
of things that come together tomorrow, including Flag Day and
a big birthday and a versary.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
Well which one. It's the two hundred and fiftieth birthday
for the US Army. Actually, even before there was a
US we had an army, and we're selling it, brating
it's two hundred and fiftieth birthday tomorrow. Of course, it
is the birthday of the commander in Chief, President Trump,
turning seventy nine years old tomorrow, and it's Flag Day,
so all it sort of being lumped into this big
celebration happening in the Capitol tomorrow evening.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
So the President has decided that there'll be a big
celebration in Washington, DC. And some folks don't like the optics.

Speaker 2 (00:58):
Well, look, we typically don't have these parades of tanks
through the streets and missile and missiles going through missile systems.
You know, that's not what we do. France kind of
does it, the UK sometimes, but typically it's more associated
with Russia, China, North Korea that they would have these
kinds of parades. But apparently President Trump sort of fell

(01:20):
in love with it when he was in France for
Bestille Day in twenty seventeen and said, hey, why don't
we celebrate our army more since we share a birthday
as well. So that really what led to this. Now,
let's see if there's an equally festive occasion for the
two hundred and fiftieth birthday of the Navy this fall,
and the Marines of course in November.

Speaker 1 (01:39):
That's November tenth. I know Marines, right, and they will
not let you forget, you know. So, as I mentioned,
there are some organized protests that we might see actually
around the country.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
Yeah, some eighteen hundred events. They're calling them no Kings
sort of a crack at you know, it's this parade
is something like that. Donald Trump is a vanity object
and he's acting like a king to have a parade
like this. So this is why they've called these rallies
across the country no Kings events again, eighteen hundred of them,
so some of them are going to be pretty small,

(02:11):
but some could get pretty big like we saw in
Los Angeles, and that's the concern.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
All Right. We'll keep posting if anything weird happens around here.
Rory O'Neil, NBC News Radio National correspondent, Thank you, Thanksteve
having good weekend, and you the same.
