Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well, Russia has renewed attacks and we've got ourselves a
good old fashioned scandal. This is West Michigan's Morning News
to you, Kelly Bread, Pikita, Lawrence Smith, Jonathan Savage with
Fox News Radio were London. Good day to you.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Sir, Hello, good morning.

Speaker 1 (00:14):
So let's start with the latest on the war in
Ukraine before we get to a scandal that Fox is
giving a clever name. But where do we stand? Blackouts
ahead of winter?

Speaker 2 (00:24):
Yes, Now, over the course of this war, we have
seen time and time again Russia have particular focused on
Ukraine's energy infrastructure as the weather turns colder. They've been
accused by Ukraine of using winter as a weapon of war.
Russia say the only attack military facilities, but there's certainly
plenty of evidence to suggest otherwise. And they've been bombing

(00:47):
and through sending missiles at substations to supply electricity to
nuclear power plants, and this has led to daily power outages,
rolling blackouts in places in Ukraine. So very uncomfortable conditions
for Ukraine over the winter.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
Yeah, how are regular folks coping with such things? My gosh,
it's cold here. I can't imagine.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
Yeah, I mean, how are they coping. That's almost a
rhetorical question at this point. They're just finding ways to
do it. They're wrapping up warm, they're making the most
of what they have and making most of the energy
that they get when it is available. It's the unpredictability,
I think, which must be very hard for people, because
you don't necessarily know which electricity supply is going to
go at which time.

Speaker 1 (01:27):
I said, clever name the Golden toilet scandal. As Zelinski
is now facing what looks like a crisis, tell us
a little bit about this one hundred million dollar alleged
wartime scheme.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
Yeah, it couldn't really have come at a worse time
for the Ukrainians, especially when it comes to faith from
their allies, because Ukraine, a country which is no stranger
to corruption, is facing another corruption scandal. Ukraine's energy and
justice ministers have resigned anti corruption bodies, accusing them and
others of orchestrating one hundred million dollar embezzlement scheme in

(02:02):
the energy sector that we were just talking about, and
several of those implicated in the scandal are or were
close associates of President Vladimir Elenski. Now those involved have
denied wrongdoing Presidents Zelenski calling corruption in the energy sector
absolutely unacceptable.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
So what about a direct association with him? Could it
take him out of power?

Speaker 2 (02:25):
It probably couldn't at this stage, but there's no doubt
that people have been looking at his actions and wondering
what's going on. Because earlier this year President Zelenski tried
to limit the powers of Ukraine's anti corruption authorities, but
he changed his mind. There was an outcry from those
European allies and also something we haven't seen in during
this war, protests from Ukrainians in the streets.

Speaker 1 (02:48):
Interesting that is Fox News Radios Jonathan Savage in London,

Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant.
