Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well, let's talk a little bit about some reversals over
the weekend. Rory o'nealand BC News Radio National correspondent back
with us. Rory, good morning.

Speaker 2 (00:09):
Hey, they're happy Monday.

Speaker 1 (00:10):
I mean, do we start with tariffs, the Epstein files,
Marjorie Taylor Green, which is, let's start with the congress
woman who used to be in favor with the president
and now.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
Yeah, really on opposite sides. Marjorie Taylor Green now called
Marjorie Trader Green by President Trump, who withdrew his endorsement
of her and her future campaigns and all this stuff
over well, differences on a few issues. Marjorie Taylor Green,
the congresswoman wants Donald Trump to focus on more domestic issues.

(00:43):
She says we should park Air Force one and he
should focus on the USA full time. But it really
was the Epstein files that really that's where she's been
calling for their full release, all this transparency. But President Trump,
until last night, I've been saying it's all a hoax.

Speaker 1 (01:01):
And then on the other side of it, so go
to the Epstein file. So now the President is saying,
get it all out there, right? Is that what I
last read?

Speaker 2 (01:09):
Essentially because Donald Trump is going to lose tomorrow, so
he's switching teams. That's the political reality. You know, they
got enough votes, enough signatures on a discharge petition in
the House to call for a vote in the House
on releasing the Epstein files. And look, no one wants
to go on record to say they're against it, so
we don't really know just how many people in the
House would support this thing, but at least the two

(01:32):
hundred and eighteen. So they're going to have the vote
likely tomorrow, and President Trump, seeing what the numbers are now, says,
go ahead, release the stuff. I'm all for it, and
let's see what happens if it ever is taken up
by the Senate, or if President Trump just tells the
Attorney General, why don't you release that stuff?

Speaker 1 (01:49):
So where does ICE end up now?

Speaker 2 (01:51):
Charlotte Rory, Yeah, Chicago to Charlotte. I was going to
say alphabetical order, but not quite. But you know, we
were all focused on Shoo a couple of weeks ago,
like here comes the FEDS and ICE and all these operations.
But now that's quietly and quickly moved over to Charlotte
this week, and I think Saturday alone, they had one
hundred different arrests. The mayor there says this is causing

(02:13):
a lot of unnecessary duress among the community, criticized in
the operation, saying it's causing fear and uncertainty in the community.
But the Feds say, this is you know, they're just
following where these people are and then they are rounding
them up as necessary.

Speaker 1 (02:29):
Just turned into the wood radio hot seat. Five stories
in five seconds. What about tariff movement over the weekends?
A reversal there, Yeah, back in the reversal tactic.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
Yeah, Now, the administration said tariffs do not raise prices,
but to lower prices. They're going to eliminate tariffs. Go
ahead if you want to scratch your head after that,
that's right, doesn't quite make sense. But the tariffs on
things like coffee and tea, and on some beef and
chocolate and nutmeg and cinnamon, and oranges and coconuts and avocados,
pineapples too. We'll see some of those tariffs go away.

(03:03):
Let's see if the importers decide to pass that savings
on to us. But it is a significant reversal of
something that the president loves. It's his favorite word, as
he has said tariff's taris tariffs

Speaker 1 (03:14):
That is Rory O'Neil, NBC News Radio National correspondent, Thank you, Hey,
Thanks Steve,

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
