Speaker 2 (00:09):
All right, Ty, we're diving right in on a Monday morning.
And it was not a pretty weekend except for Michigan fans.
They did pull it out down to Northwestern Wrigley Field.
That was kind of cool with the iconic setting. But
sixteen to nine last night, and the bottom line was this,
I said it all morning long, three and thirteen. As
far as third down conversions, zero to five on fourth
down conversions, as you know, against a team like Philly
(00:30):
very good defensively, just not going to get done. You're
not going to win that game, no matter what kind
of statue put up.
Speaker 1 (00:36):
No.
Speaker 3 (00:37):
Then you talk about Jared Golf with all the tip balls.
I mean, look, there's a reason why with Jordan Davis
and Jalen Carter, Philadelphia is pretty good because their interior
is really good. They not only get their hands on
the ball, but they're just big loads that have to
be moved around, and it created a lot of havoc
for us. And then Jared Golf with some of those
tip balls, you know, he had a career low thirty
(01:00):
seven almost thirty eight of as passes. You know, we're completed,
which is not you know, healthy at all for a quarterback.
You know, Detroit. I worried about the game because you know,
I wasn't worried about Philadelphia running away from us because
they haven't really been an offensive juggernaut, but they just
(01:20):
seem to kind of grind it out and do what
they do. But defensively, you know, they're a solid football team,
and we just didn't have the answers. So I don't know.
You know, this whole thing about Dan Campbell running the offense,
that's great when you're doing it against somebody that you
should beat, versus somebody when you when you don't, you
got to have some answers, and they got to figure
(01:42):
out some of this how why this is kind of
going up and down the way that it is.
Speaker 2 (01:46):
Yeah, no doubt about it. I will say this. The
defense I thought played outstanding. I mean, if they don't
stand up and you know, bowl a little bit when
they needed to, it could have been a lot worse
than that as far as the score. So I give
them credit, especially with some of the guys that we've
got just makeshift in that secondary with all the injuries
from there. Let's go to number eighteen. Michigan gets a
(02:06):
done late field goal twenty four to twenty two to Northwestern.
Again not pretty. Bryce Underwood with two interceptions. As we know,
that's not going to cut it against Ohio State in
a couple weeks. But they're not playing Ohio State. They're
winning and advancing and that's what they need to do.
They're still in the Big Ten picture at eight and
two overall, six and one in Big Ten play.
Speaker 3 (02:26):
Yeah, I mean when you look at Michigan, look they're
exercising the muscle that needs to be exercised the most
in football, which is winning. It is. It's just that mindset,
that brain that plows you through. Think about it. They
had four late turnovers in that football game and still
figured out a way to win, not lose the football game.
(02:48):
So it's a credit to them. People. Look, they're young,
they got some you know, significant amount of injuries right now.
Even Marshall went down, which is, you know, they got
two very good football running backs and you lose another one.
But they just figured out a way to get it done.
Bryce Underwood threw a couple of interceptions, but figured out
how to get a couple of key first downs. They
(03:10):
were able to kick a field goal to win it.
So they survive in advanced as you savider, in the
course of the season, and sometimes that's what it is.
But again, winning helps a lot of things, and it
helps build confidence, and that's exactly what they did.
Speaker 2 (03:22):
We'll keep an eye on that Jordan Marshall injury, because
you're right once again when he needed to carry the load.
He did nineteen carries, one hundred and forty two yards,
two touchdowns. But if they don't have ym and they
don't have Hayes, it's going to be interesting as far
as trying to beat a Maryland team who's pesky on
the road. So we'll see what happens coming up this Saturday.
From there, we go to the debacle. It is Michigan
(03:43):
State and Penn State. Hard to believe Penn State didn't
have a big ten win going to this one, but
you just look at this and the line of scrimmage
just isn't there for Michigan State on both sides. I mean,
twenty eight to ten, Knitton Lions get it down, but
you look at the rushing differential two hundred and forty
yards for Penn State in the ground just one hundred
and one yards rush. And when you look at it,
Alessio didn't have any time really to throw the football
at all.
Speaker 3 (04:05):
No, I think that's the biggest disappointment. You know, even
when you think about Michigan State as a whole, and
I get they they not unlike everybody else, have some
injuries here and there. But the reality of it is,
your front your front line, both offensively and defensively, has
to be stout in the Big Ten. Uh. And you know,
you give them credit because they came out, you know,
(04:26):
scored a touchdown right out of the gates, made it interesting.
It was a nice tight game. Uh. And then it
was like the wheels fell off because of that, you know,
the opportunities not to advance and get down the field,
so I just did it. Is it's got to be frustrating.
You wouldn't think in a million years you'd see Michigan
State not saying that it's the world beater of the
(04:48):
of the world. But when you're not winning you know,
a decent amount or a few of your Big Ten games,
that's just a bad, bad recipe for for what you
want down there, and you just youve got to figure
out how to You're not going to change it here
by the end of the year. You've got to figure
out how do you move in the right direction which
is best for.
