Speaker 1 (00:00):
And this is West Michigan's morning news. Steve Kelly and
Brett Pakita Schmidty is back with us soon. Still dealing
with a little heating and cooling thing here. So our
fire door is wide open and it is a beautiful
bird chirping start to the day today.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
Yep, little humid, but we'll take it.
Speaker 1 (00:18):
There may be a pop up shower or sprinkle. You'll
hear more about that in four minutes as we put
traffic and weather together. But outside of that, a very
summary couple of days we will string together today might
make it to seventy six degrees.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
And at forty percent.
Speaker 1 (00:35):
If you do have to go to work today, maybe
an early release for a round of golf or something
like that gets your more through the grass. It could
be a little tricky as I can see the stuff
growing in my landscape, I mean it is booming.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
That's what I got on my schedule today. You always
do here.
Speaker 1 (00:54):
I'd like to ask a couple of maintenance questions about
Bretton because I don't want to boast about l Fresco landscapes,
because I think it's really cool that we're at a
position where they can do such things in my yard.
But back when I and I remember, I remember mowing
my lawn. I'm still sharp.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
Was that like twenty five years ago?
Speaker 1 (01:14):
I always wanted to do it all in one day,
But sometimes I know that you like to do the
front one day and the back another day.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
Yeah, it depends on my schedule. I agree with you.
Speaker 3 (01:24):
You want it all to kind of grow the same
so it doesn't look off, you know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (01:29):
Not that a lot of people will come in and
judge both. Right, you have a lot of guests at
your house that say, seems to me, Bret, that there's
a half inch more growth in your backyard.
Speaker 3 (01:38):
Well, what's nice is I have a fence, Steve, so
I can kind of eliminate that problem because if I
do mow the back second, no one would know except
me and my family.
Speaker 2 (01:48):
Now they will.
Speaker 1 (01:48):
Come mister Lane can see through your back fence or
is the you got that new shed? Does that completely
take out his view into your backyard?
Speaker 2 (01:57):
Yeah, he would have to get up on a ladder,
and that's kind of creepy.
Speaker 3 (01:59):
Well, you know, not saying that he wouldn't you know,
because I would do the same for him.
Speaker 2 (02:04):
There are mirrors on sticks. Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 3 (02:06):
I can get up on my deck though and see
into his backyard, so you know, I guess fair play
if you want to get up and.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
Let me ask you this question. I know there's a
pool back there, right, but is there grass? Can you
see if he keeps his lawn one length or another
in the front and the back?
Speaker 3 (02:23):
Yeah, I not too much because he has a beautiful
like cement kind of patio deck area and his own
little hot tub there. But yeah, I can see, and
he does mow back there, and he does a nice job.
He's got the brick and everything, the rock. He's got
a fountain Steve that rolls into his pool.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
We had a neighborhood association meeting last night, so we'll
talk about my neighbors a little bit later on. A
couple of quick questions for Ryan Schmels with Fox News Radio,
who's in Washington, d C. This morning. As the President
signs that executive order that will reduce prescription DUG prices,
or at least that's the plan, right, Ryan tell us
a little bit more exactly.
Speaker 4 (03:02):
That is the plan. What the President wants to do
is that he wants to match what other nations are
selling their drug prices for and wants the American public
to pay the exact same price, so essentially a price
matching operation. I'm saying that he kills if the United
States has gotten ripped off and has been subsidizing other
countries when it comes to prescription drugs for decades. And
(03:22):
so this is a pretty bold action and we'll see
where it goes. But I think there is a concern
that this is going to run into a number of
issues when it comes to the courts.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
Well, the order calls that the Health Department, led by
RFK Junior, will help broker this deal. But as the
President has said, he's got a lot of smart lawyers
working for him, and he's using most Favored Nation status.
How does that come into play?
Speaker 4 (03:47):
Yeah, essentially the most Favored nation status. From my understanding
is that pretty much this says that the United States
will be matched with what whatever the lowest nation is
paying for drug prices, that's what we will pay for crisis.
So Vietnam is tangalois price. The United States plays what
Vietnam pays, and you know, I think there's there's going
to be some pushback. Obviously, there's going to be some
(04:09):
court battles, and and I think Bernie Sanders, who is
somebody who usually would expect to be in favor of this,
that was kind of his big argument. He's like, he
feels like the president knows that this is just going
to get thrown out in courts, So if they want
to go after this effort, there needs to be something
Congress needs to take up too.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
All right, well, we'll keep you posting. Ryan Schmells with
Boxing his radio. Thanks for your time this morning, of course.
Speaker 4 (04:29):
Thank you
