Speaker 1 (00:00):
Since nineteen oh nine.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
Yeah, I had no idea.

Speaker 1 (00:04):
The Congressional Baseball Game has been an annual bipartisan event.
On the story this morning, our friend Ryan Schmelz with
Fox News Radio Ian Washington, DC. Ryan, thanks for doing
this today, really good morning. This thing is a fundraiser.
I think originally it was about camaraderie. Does such a
thing exist? From what you've seen from this thing?

Speaker 3 (00:26):
Oh yes, I mean like last year there was a
senator who on the Republican side who got beam with
a fastball by a senator from California on the Democrat side,
and the California member actually apologized to him by buying
them bottle wine. So yes, there are some nice moments
that happened, for sure.

Speaker 1 (00:43):
You know what, that's a question that just popped into
my mind. Sometimes in correct softball, there's a little cooler
going on. Did they drink at this thing?

Speaker 3 (00:53):
No people in the audience do though, Ah, okay, well that.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
Was a question that was out there.

Speaker 1 (00:58):
So there are some charity that are involved today and
we need to talk about there's a winning streak going
on that Republicans hope to keep.

Speaker 3 (01:07):
Yes, So first off on the charities, they go towards
funding youth scholarship programs as well as helping disadvantaged guts
throughout the DC area. But then yes, on the winning
street side, Republicans have won four in a row. And
you have to keep in mind they have a former
college baseball player in August Fluger. They also have a

(01:29):
former Utah State football player and Blake Moore, but he
is on injury watched he might not be playing.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
Let me tell you, Ryan, this Heisinge guy from West Michigan.
He's pretty good to keep an eye on him.

Speaker 3 (01:40):
Yeah, oh yes, and he might be feeling some questions
about his Senate run too while he's out there.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
So I just kidding that the truth, especially if you're there.
We try to hold him to it and we get
the same answers when he's on our program.

Speaker 3 (01:56):
Yeah yeah, Obi wanted to watch for sure, as one
of the taller ATHLETs out there.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
Yeah, I'm curious the Democrats to bring in some ringers
maybe to snap this streak. I mean, what are you
hearing you?

Speaker 3 (02:09):
We'll see. I mean, you know Colin Alright, who was
probably somebody I would have watched for last year, but
he didn't play. He's a former Tennessee Titan he ran
for Senate is no longer in Congress. So I said,
that's somebody that probably would have been good for the
Democrats to have suited up. But I can't really think
of any other collegiate athletes that they have. So hey,

(02:30):
you know, they did not really seem too confident yesterday,
and their starting pitcher, Pte Aguilar was kind of saying, well, well,
we'll see what happens. Uh crap, and you know, so
it does. Yeah, just it didn't seem like it was
the most optimistic group. But they've lost four in a row,
so that's kind of the situation there.

Speaker 1 (02:48):
What would you say for the quality of the baseball
that you've seen over the years.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
I would say that watching people who are not professional
athletes do professional athlete things will make you appreciate professional
athletes way more than you ever did. Question.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
Put it that way, I think that pretty much wraps
it up.

Speaker 2 (03:10):
If you win, if you win the game, besides, you
know the party afterwards. Is there anything else?

Speaker 3 (03:16):
You know?

Speaker 2 (03:17):
Like the All Star Game? Right, you get home field
advantage if if your side wins, what would it be
or what would you recommend as far as if you
win the congressional baseball game.

Speaker 3 (03:28):
Oh goodness, get to sing sing someone else's fight song
on the house floor or something like that. I mean, Nickain,
you know, I don't I who want to be putting
the future of countries legislation on the on a on
a baseball game. So yeah, I think it's got to
be something light like that.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
Well, listen, if it started with the spirit of camaraderie
in nineteen oh nine, just maybe there will be some
of that today. We will have results of the game tomorrow.
We have a tentative hold on Congressman Heisinger that you
brought up that his staff says one game a couple

(04:06):
of years ago with a play. So we'll keep you
posted about how things work tomorrow. Ryan Smells with Box
News Radio. Are you watching it on TV, on the internet.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
Or do you go to this. I'm going to go.
I'm gonna go to the game. I live like a
ten minute walk, so I'll be there.

Speaker 2 (04:21):
Perfect.

Speaker 1 (04:21):
Well, maybe we'll talk to you tomorrow if you're still
on the story. Thanks Ryan, all right.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
Sounds good. Thank you.
