Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're used to seeing Lake Michigan Credit Union all over
West Michigan, but did you know they now have twenty
locations in Florida. This is West Michigan's Morning News. Steve
Kelly and Brett Bikita back on the liveline with us.
The vice president of Community Relations at Lake Michigan Credit Union,
Matt Cook, Thanks for doing this today.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
Of course, good morning.

Speaker 1 (00:21):
Talk to us a little bit about that expansion. We
see your name and they see it all over Florida too.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
Yeah, So, Ellence, you moved down into the Florida area
back in twenty fourteen, really because of mortgages. We had
a lot of our members here that wanted either a
second home down there, or maybe they were moving. They
wanted to get out of the weather that we've been
experiencing the last couple of weeks, and so we opened
offices down there really to serve them, and started down

(00:50):
in Naples and Fort Myers in southwest Florida, and over
the last ten years we've expanded up to Tampa and
all the way over to Lakeland. So now, as you said,
twenty looks throughout the entire state of Florida. In addition
to the fifty that we have here.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
In Michigan and Matt we know your love for sports.
It continues down there in Florida. Obviously we've got LMCU
Ballpark here home with the white Caps. What you've done
with us with high school basketball and beyond, and you
guys are tied into the twenty twenty four Relyoquest Bowl.
Used to be the old Outback Bowl. People remember it
and LMGU has been a sponsor now for I believe
this is your fourth year. What a matchup for you guys, Michigan.

(01:25):
We get a little connection there in Alabama.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
Yeah, we were actually thrilled. We purchased a bank down
there four years ago and they were a sponsor of
like you said, Brett, what was the Outback Bowl, And
so we inherited that have a great relationship with the
ball game. And it was a dream back then of
like what happens if we get Michigan or Michigan State
one of the years, And that happened a couple of
weeks ago, all because of the upset of Ohio State.

(01:48):
So it became a dream matchup for us. And I
can't tell you how many ticket requests we've gotten and
it's been a fun one to talk about and be
a part of.

Speaker 3 (01:58):
Well, speaking of that, I think you guys are giving
away a couple of tickets and a five hundred dollar
gift card. How can fans that might be tripping down
there or maybe win this in this side. Yeah, I'm
going to road trip down there over the holidays, be
a part of this and go to the Bowl game. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:13):
Excited to share with your listeners that we are having
the contest right now. So if you want to go
to the Bowl Game and you haven't had the chance
to get any tickets, feel free to go to any
of them to use social channels and you can enter
via the link on our social channels there, or you
can also I'm sure visit wood Radio and you guys

(02:34):
will probably share. But in that aspect, we're giving away
two tickets to the game and then also a five
hundred dollars gift card to help in the way of
getting the arrangements down. The game is on New Year's Eve.
It's a noon kickoff. It will be broadcast on ESPN
too for those that are not able to make it down.
But we're really excited to be a part of the
game and offer that chance, and there are tickets still available.

(02:55):
So if you don't win the contest, but you are
going to be down in that area, there are tickets
you can still purchase as well.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
Got a little time with the family with time off
for school, you still have time to apply for the
HUT Scholarship. Give us the details real quick about that
as time runs out on January eighth.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
Yeah, so ELMCU once again is offering our scholarship for
high school seniors. So we still have time through January
for anybody. If you have a high school senior in
your life, go to LMCU dot org backslash HUT. All
you have to do is write an essay to the
prompts that we have there, and we'd love to have
more entries and definitely still time and can put to

(03:35):
good youth the Christmas break for people to be able
to write that essay.

Speaker 3 (03:39):
Yeah, for mom and dad, twenty two thousand dollars scholarships
they award, so this is a big deal. LMCU dot
org to find out more information along with our baskets
for kids, which I'm happy off of Touchdowns for Kids
tips off. This Friday night, we've got the Rockford girls
basketball team against Grandapit's Cathic Central and as you know,
I think it was last year Rockford West Catholic set
a huge mark for everyone else to match as far

(04:02):
as knocking down three pointers. Every three pointer a fifty
dollars donation of Kids Food Basket from LMCU.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
Right, Matt, it is and we love the partnership with
you bred on that and really excited for the high
school basketball season which is already kicked off, but really
excited for your broadcast in the way that those high
school athletes can shine through that performance and benefit some
kids the need through Kids Food Basket.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
Vice president of Community Relations at Lake Michigan Credit Union,
Matt Cook, great stuff. Merry Christmas.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
