Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to West Michigan's morning News.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
Steve Kelly and Brent Pakitos Schmidty back with us soon.
That is Adam Morocho. It is the day before our
turkey drop for mel Trotter Ministries. It gets under way
at seven o'clock tomorrow morning, seven A to seven p.
Drop off locations as I just mentioned, Celebration Cinema Arthur

(00:23):
South in Jennison. You can go to the Meltrotter Thrift
Store on Cottonwood, he said, sounding like a sports announcer
downtown at two twenty five Commerce Miskegan Rescue Mission once
again on Lakedin Gateway Mission in Holland on River Avenue.
We will kick that thing off tomorrow morning. First thing

(00:46):
when we walk in the door. Then the reason why
we do this is the week before Thanksgiving to put
attention to the fact there are a lot of families
that will not be taking part in Thanksgiving. That's that's
why you're giving the frozen turkey. And to that point,
Tiny j Powers joins us on the liveline this morning
in New York City. Nearly eighty two million Americans are

(01:08):
projected to travel over Thanksgiving.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
Tanya, good morning.

Speaker 3 (01:13):
Good morning, How about you.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
Are you hosting or are you traveling?

Speaker 4 (01:18):
I am actually hosting and working.

Speaker 3 (01:21):
Oh come on, no, it's No't don't cry for me,
because I this is my favorite holiday to work, honestly
because the Macy Thanksgiving Day parade comes right in front
of our building and I get to cover the.

Speaker 4 (01:37):
Parade every year. So all I have to do is
literally walk out the front door of our headquarters here
on Sixth Avenue in Midtown Manhattan, and I can watch,
you know, Snoopy and SpongeBob and all the other balloons
float by and see Santa. And it is just one
of the coolest perks of my of my job where
I get to actually work and see the parade right

(02:00):
out our front door. So I this is my was
one of my favorite things every year.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
So sidebar real quick. What time do you have to
get into work that day?

Speaker 3 (02:07):
Oh? Golly.

Speaker 4 (02:09):
I usually come in around five thirty or so, only
because you know, they they block off such a perimeter.
Now with all the sanitation trucks and the big blocker
vehicles and stuff, you have to you have to hike
in at least two or three long blocks to get

(02:30):
in to Midtown where the parade route is they aren't.
They don't take any chances. The vehicles aren't allowed anywhere
near the parade route, so it takes a little bit
longer to get in to work than it normally would.

Speaker 1 (02:42):
Our girls are coming home, one in Chicago, one closer
to Detroit, so we watched the parade. Every year. We'll
be looking for you, which will be kind of cool.
It's speaking of it.

Speaker 2 (02:50):
Yeah, travel, So how are these Americans doing it? I
would imagine less booked flights because of this mess over
the last few weeks.

Speaker 4 (02:59):
You know that you make it a really good point
because tripa A they say about eighty two million of
US are going to travel at least fifty miles from
home to Thanksgiving. That is up a little bit from
last year. About six one point six million extra travelers
this year, which compared to last Thanksgiving, that should set
a new overall record this year. If you're looking at

(03:22):
the flights, about six million of US are expected to
take domestic flights over the Thanksgiving holiday period that runs
between next Tuesday and Monday, December first. To give you
an idea, so the twenty fifth through the first is
this time period you're talking about here, that's up about
two percent from last year. But you made a good
point with the you know, kind of a mess that

(03:43):
flights have been over the last you know week and
a half to especially with those being cut. The projection
they have here for the six million of us to fly,
that number could actually be a little bit lower once
all is said and done, because of the fact that
you have people who may have seen those lights being
cut and said, Okay, well, just to be on the

(04:03):
safe side, we're going to do a road trip instead,
or we're going to go my train, or we're going
to you know whatever. They may have changed plans and
not decided decided not to fly because of that, so
that number could actually be different.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
That is China Jay Powers with Fox News Radio in
New York on the parade route.

Speaker 1 (04:19):
How's that. Thanks for your time this morning. Thank you

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
