Speaker 2 (00:25):
Later in the seven o'clock hour, we'll talk to Consumers
Energy about the foundation's attempts to help feed folks in
the middle of uncertainty when it comes to food with
the government shutdown.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
So that's seven forty five.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
Let's start with the Department of Justice joining California Republican
Party's lawsuit against California's controversial Proposition fifty, which redrew the
state's congressional districts to give Democrats five more House seats.
US Attorney General Pam Bondi.

Speaker 4 (01:00):
Trying to create seats based on race, and they can't
do it, and we're going to hold them accountable just
like any other state. I mean, they've very publicly said, Sean,
what they're trying to do and it's illegal germandering. They
cannot do it.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
VP jd Vance on Hannity yesterday asked about his run
for president.

Speaker 5 (01:19):
We're gonna win the midterms. We're going to do everything
that we can to win the midterms. And then after that,
I'm gonna sit down with the President of United States
and talk to him about it. But let's focus on
the now, because we've got well over a year to
do as much as we can for the American people.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
President Trump proposed the VP run alongside Secretary of State
Marco Rubio if he decided to seek office in twenty
twenty eight and the shutdowns over the recovery begins. White
House National Economic Council Director Kevin has.

Speaker 6 (01:47):
It, We'll pick up some of it, but some of
it is like permanent destruction. So again, if you think
about all the business travel that didn't happen and so on,
a lot of those are things that like people do
every quarter and now that quarter's gone.

Speaker 1 (01:58):

Speaker 3 (02:00):
This morning, Campbell's is out with the annual State of
the Sides Report, So we're talking Thanksgiving dinner coming up.
They released this report every year. Although Turkey is obviously
the centerpiece According to this report, half of Americans say
they'd be happy with having a meal just with the sides.
Sixty six percent of they enjoy the sides more than

(02:22):
the turkey. So what are those top sides? Stuffing dressing
has overtaken the number one spot, moving mashed potatoes to
number two on the list, sweet potatoes at number three,
But in a big move, mac and cheese has jumped
into that number four spot, which overtook green bean casserole.

(02:43):
Campbell's report calls it the official number one side for
gen Z. Interesting here in Michigan, stuffing dressing that is
our number one.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
We've never had mac and cheese as part.

Speaker 3 (02:53):
Of Thanksgiving really, See, I don't think we really have
very often either, And I would love that stuffing can kickrocks.
I think it's so gross.

Speaker 4 (03:03):
What is it?

Speaker 3 (03:03):
The texture is weird, It doesn't taste that good. Usually
gravy can fix a lot for me, stuffings beyond form.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
Yeah, the wine used to fix a lot of stuff
for me, but then it didn't. Tony.

Speaker 7 (03:16):

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
