Speaker 1 (00:01):
Welcome back to hour two of What Matters. I'm Mikayla
in the studio and we've got Mindy in the car
on her way home from the first softball tournament. As
we reset for this hour, how's the drive coming along?
Speaker 2 (00:14):
Mindy drive is coming along? Okay. I just hated to
leave all that sunshine down in North Carolina. You know.
When we were going there, we stopped off to get
gas and to get something to eat, and I saw
a sign with Kayla and it was for an Andy
Griffith museum. I said, Randy, we got to go there.
I really want to go there because I used to
love that show, and we didn't. We didn't joining there.
(00:36):
We had to get to them, make sure we got there,
you know, the game on time, and I kind of
forgot about it coming home. But anyway, I would have
loved have gone in there.
Speaker 1 (00:43):
My dad it was a huge Andy and is a
huge Andy Griffith fan. We would be watching that show
in the evenings after we were done with school and whatnot,
replaying on whatever station was replaying it. Around the same
time the Andy Griffith Show was on. There was a
show that many people also watched, call The Dating.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
Game well, we have reinvented the dating game radio style
for almost every year that Mikaela and I have done
the What Matters Show, with the exception of the COVID
year and that controversy, we weren't able to do it.
But we have done our own version of the dating game,
and I can honestly say that it's never once worked.
(01:24):
I mean, no one really has gotten married because of
the dating Game.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
Now, we though or stayed together. I mean we talked
last week and we have a sidecar situation that's working
out pretty well for me Mindy's cousin. But we're going
to play the game again with a bachelorette that you
guys are going to meet a little later here in
the show. So we're going to meet her at five
point thirty five, and I think we're still looking for
one contestant, right, Mindy, Right, And.
Speaker 2 (01:49):
So we're going to find out what exactly she's looking for.
But you know what, guys, if you're single out there
and you just want to have fun and maybe just
meet a new friend. She's new to a Ohio, we're
going to hear all about her coming up. Like Michaela said,
at five thirty five, but whoever she chooses gets to
go on their first date, and I understand that where
(02:10):
they're going to go is awesome. Mikayla, you've actually been there.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
I have not long after it opened. It is Flower
Modern pasta bar, also known as Flower, and Yosh with
Flower is on the phone with us right now. Yosh,
this is going to be such a great date for
our bachelorette. But man, if people have not experienced what
you guys have there yet, they are missing out. How
(02:37):
is it going and tell people a little bit about
what you guys do at Flower.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
Thank you for having me on. Yeah, excited to host
whoever wins or whatever. Yeah. We just opened here end
of September, so just around three months now. We're a
little pasta bar Polaris. We specialized in fresh film made pasta, salads, bread.
We have a special little prefixed menu, so it's a
(03:02):
little different than your normal dining experience, but we still
try to keep it affordable. It's twenty eight dollars per
person and that's where three courses is, and then you
can add on some little sides and dessert and just
try to have like a really fun and lively environment.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
Twenty dollars per person. That's not bad at all, especially
especially today. So is it a romantic place SETI environment
for us because we do have Valentine's Day coming up.
Speaker 3 (03:29):
Yeah, it's a little dark in there. It's all pink,
so it fits a Valentine's Day theme perfectly. It's all
pink inside. But I did want to keep it a
little more casual and a little more lively than like
stuffie fancy. That makes sense.
Speaker 1 (03:41):
Yes, it's not stuffy fancy. My experience when I was
very anxious, it is this beautiful pinks and kind of
like this cool vibe, but also like a place you
can just go and have dinner with your partner or
a girlfriend. I went with a girlfriend, and that affordability,
those prefi menus, they really you don't get a prefixed
(04:04):
menu at that cost anymore. And so I felt like
I was able to try a little bit of everything
and then had a really great cocktail on top of that.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
You guys do really great cocktails, thank you. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (04:15):
I actually came up with the cocktail menu in partnership
with Watershed, so try to keep it still local unto Ohio.
And we just had really fun with the cocktails. There's
apasta water martini and turram asou cocktail with a cold
foam on it that's been really popular.
Speaker 2 (04:31):
So that is so fun. I love the whole cocktail idea.
If you would go there and let's say for the
very first time, what would you recommend that you have
to have for someone a first time that would definitely
make them come back.
Speaker 3 (04:48):
So we have one other restaurant in Columbus called Ruts
in the Short North. That one's Modern Indian. It's been
there about five years. We take our butter chicken sauce
or the chicken mutney sauce and use that as a
base for one of our Apasta sauces. That's one of
our most popular. Then we also have a yoki which
is really popular that I actually made for myself when
(05:10):
I was designing the menu. It's half with red sauce,
half with like a cheese white sauce, and then drizzled
with pestos. So it's like the best of all three worlds.
Speaker 1 (05:18):
If you can't decide, Mindy and Yash, I have a
confession to make, so I also have been to Rue.
It's been a minute, but I want to go back,
Mindy because they have also really great cocktails. And there
is a midnight in Mumbai that I have been dying
to try because you instagram died it, Yash, and it
(05:40):
looked so darn good. Thank you.
Speaker 3 (05:42):
We put a lot of work into our instagram this
you can't tell, so thank you for noticing.
Speaker 2 (05:50):
Well, I'm kind of upset at both of you because
my husband and I are in the car driving home.
We still have hours to go, and you both are
making us very very hungry at this point.
Speaker 1 (06:02):
Well, are what are you guys open, Yash? I Mindy
might not be able to hit you up tonight, but like,
what are your typical hours weekends during the week.
Speaker 3 (06:12):
Yeah, we're open every single day and we open it
four thirty and then we do happy hour every day
but Friday and Saturday till six.
Speaker 1 (06:20):
Okay, fantastic, Mindy. We do have a question on the
phone about the dating game, which we'll get here at
to in a second, But Yash, before you go, can
you just tell everybody where to follow you and what
your website is if people want to make reservations.
Speaker 3 (06:34):
Yeah, it's at Flower Columbus on social media and the
website's Flower Columbus. We're relocated right at Claire's Parkway at
the mall, right next to Barnes and Nobles, So it's
pretty easy. That's parking.
Speaker 2 (06:48):
Yach. Whoever our bachelorett shoos is when they go there,
please make sure you make a big deal out of
it and embarrass them and say, hey, here's the Dating
Game winners, and then take a good pick and share
it with Mikayla and myself.
Speaker 3 (07:02):
Oh.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
Absolutely, we're so glad you joined us, Yosh, thank you
so much for being the restaurant that's part of the
Dating Game. We so appreciate it. We'll make sure we
get your information out on social media.
Speaker 3 (07:16):
Thank you for having me.
Speaker 2 (07:18):
Have a good night.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
God. So we do have a question about the Dating game, mindy.
We have Andrew on the line. Who has a question? Andrew,
go ahead, you're on.
Speaker 2 (07:32):
Well, it wasn't really a question. It was just I
heard that maybe you needed an extra contestant, so I
thought I puff my hat in the ring.
Speaker 1 (07:43):
Oh, you're tossing your hat in the ring along with
other messages that we have coming in right now, Mindy,
this might be a competitive last place to fill.
Speaker 2 (07:52):
Hey, we'll take all the people we can get and
then we'll like randomly pick the next contestant, because, like
Mikayla said, we do have two guys you already are
signed up and ready to go. But Andrew, we will
definitely add your name to the mix. But why did
someone pick you? Andrew? Oh? Just because how's that for you?
Speaker 1 (08:14):
Just because Andrew you're no good? You're gonna have to
work on your game a little bit more, Andrew, you
get picked out of this hat.
Speaker 2 (08:24):
Hey, it's it's just it's fun.
Speaker 3 (08:26):
It's always uh potentially, I was really.
Speaker 2 (08:29):
Good to uh meet another good friends, so it's fun.
Speaker 1 (08:34):
You must think she's cute.
Speaker 2 (08:38):
Yeah she is, you're picking.
Speaker 1 (08:41):
You've seen the Facebook and the Instagram photo that we
put out there today, so yeah, she is darn cute, mindy.
Speaker 2 (08:47):
Oh yeah, and Mikayla didn't make this post look quite
as graphic this time, so it's all good.
Speaker 1 (08:52):
I gave Mandy some options that were a little lighter,
will you say, a little more festive to Valentine's Day?
Speaker 2 (08:58):
Right?
Speaker 1 (08:59):
Well, and thank you for calling in. And yeah, you guys,
we have gotten some interest on this last slot, and
so we probably are going to have to make a choice, Mindy.
But if people are still interested to get in that hat.
Do they just send us a direct message on Facebook?
Is that the best way to do it?
Speaker 2 (09:16):
However, they want to get a hold of us, direct
message on Facebook, reach out to Mikayla, reach out to myself.
Any way you want to do it? Submit why you
want to be the third contestant? And you know what,
it's just fun. You live on the edge. And in fact, Mikayla,
when we talked to Chrisa her name is Chrisa Lucas,
when we talked to her at five point thirty five,
(09:37):
she actually called into our show and talked to our
psychic about finding love this year, and the psychic told
her try something different. There's nothing more different than the
dating game.
Speaker 1 (09:49):
I remember when that happened, and you and I like
looked at each other like do do do?
Speaker 3 (09:53):
Do do do?
Speaker 1 (09:54):
Dude? Like?
Speaker 2 (09:55):
Whoa is she Greek?
Speaker 3 (09:57):
Mindy?
Speaker 2 (09:59):
Gee on the line?
Speaker 1 (10:02):
Oh, Andrew's still there. I'm sorry, andrewid just started. I
heard your voice in the background.
Speaker 2 (10:07):
What did you say? Keep me on the line.
Speaker 1 (10:12):
Well, you know, meeting her early might be against the rules,
but I'll.
Speaker 2 (10:17):
Tell you what. You can call back when she's on
and just say, hey, you're vowing for the last so spot.
You can do that, Ben you god it. We still
have a whole lot of segment to go.
Speaker 1 (10:26):
We do. Thank you, Andrew. We may talk to you later. Yeah, Lucas,
the way she spells it, l o Ukas looked Greek
to me, and so that's why I wondered. And she
has that kind of dark leader.
Speaker 2 (10:39):
And look, yeah, MICHAELA, one of the contestants is also Greek.
He doesn't know that yet, though.
Speaker 1 (10:46):
Oh, this is gonna be good. This could be really
really good. Maybe maybe we're gonna break out of our
losing streak with these we.
Speaker 2 (10:56):
Mind, someone has to get us out of this losing streak.
You know what a competitor I am. I hate that
we haven't won with getting a couple to work out.
I mean, I think we do still count Kathy and
Mike because they did come together because of our show.
It was this kind of a roundabout way of doing it.
Speaker 1 (11:13):
Yeah, I mean I kind of count that as a
win too. But it's a bit of a stretch, but
it's true. So Okay, we're going to talk to CHRISA
coming up here at five point thirty five. But first
and I found this, and I said, oh my gosh,
this is Mindy and this is me. The best restaurants
for both vegetarians and carnivores in Columbus. I didn't even
(11:36):
know you could make both people happy at a restaurant.
Speaker 2 (11:39):
Mindy, you can make everybody happy. Just give them salads
and meet on the side. We're going to go through
the list.
Speaker 1 (11:48):
Coming up next here on what Matters. This is Sixten WTVN.
