(08:49):
Day everybody. It's always nice to spend Mother's Day with
another mom, because you know, although I love Boots to
death and we have a lot of fun together, he
doesn't get what motherhood truly is yet. And I don't
think guys do he's no, lady, and he will be
the first to tell you that too.

Speaker 8 (09:05):
No, I'm so glad to be here with you.

Speaker 2 (09:07):
You know.

Speaker 7 (09:07):
I was thinking about my day and I had a
couple of people ask me what I'm doing, and I said, oh,
of course, and what matters from four to six?

Speaker 8 (09:14):
And I said it, I'll be with Mandy and that'll
be good.

Speaker 5 (09:16):
So I get a text from Mikayla a few days ago.
It would have been on Friday morning, and it was
after the Ohio State softball team played in the Big
Ten Tournament. They were the fourth seed, so they had
to buy They didn't have to play the first week,
first day, so they played the twelfth seed of Purdue.
Granted it was at Purdue, because they'd pick a different

(09:36):
host school every year. It just happened to be at Purdue,
which West Soufayette and who we just swept a few
weeks ago. We won all three games against Purdue, and
then we got smacked down. Like Honestly, I think it
was my four years of following Ohio State softball that
my daughter's been a starter for the team on the
shortstop position. It was the worst game I've ever seen

(09:57):
Ohio State softball.

Speaker 8 (09:58):
Play, and I knew it after our texted her, Oh there.

Speaker 5 (10:01):
Were five airs, there were five hit batters by our pitchers,
and seven walks, and we couldn't hit like we've been
hitting all season. Sometimes, you guys listening, if you're an
athlete and you've played sports all your life, or you've
done anything for a long time, and then there's that
one moment that everything could go wrong did and that happened.
So I just want to read you the text that

(10:23):
MICHAELA sent me the next day, How you doing this
morning with a heart, And that's all I needed. You know,
that was cool because you didn't say, man, what happened
to the buck geys they sucked, which they did. It
was just how you do in this morning? And I
appreciate that because what a what a letdown. But again,
that actual game doesn't mean as much as you would

(10:44):
think because of the rest of the season, because they
were because they did so well all season long, like
off the charts good. They're still into the NCAA tournament.
We just don't know where they're going or who they're
playing at. We'll find out tonight at seven. You know,
in March Madness, they have the selection show.

Speaker 8 (11:01):
I love this election show. It's up teams, cheering and excited.

Speaker 5 (11:05):
I love it. They're doing that exact same thing. They
do it every year for college softball as well. So
the difference with this year is we made it in
the High State. Buck guys made it in Cammi's freshman year.
Did not make it in her sophomore or junior year.
That's really why we have a new coach this year.

Speaker 1 (11:21):
So we're in.

Speaker 5 (11:22):
We just don't know. And families are allowed to go
to Ohio State be part of the team as they
watch this selection show and as they find out firsthand
where they're going. So Randy and I will be there.

Speaker 8 (11:33):
That's awesome.

Speaker 7 (11:34):
Coming out of the Purdue game, what were the conversations
and lessons from coach two K?

Speaker 5 (11:41):
I don't know.

Speaker 8 (11:42):
She didn't tell you yet.

Speaker 5 (11:43):
Oh I didn't want to talk to anybody. I was
so livid, I was so mad. I was just I
couldn't I couldn't believe what I just witnessed. And here's
the deal. And I know most of the parents on
the team, they all have next year. I don't you know,
I don't get to watch my daughter anymore. That was
the last Big Ten Tournament game I get to watch

(12:04):
Cammy play. Ever, so it probably affected me a little
bit more because I was just ticked off because it's
just stunk so bad, so bad.

Speaker 8 (12:13):
Have you seen her and talked to her today?

Speaker 5 (12:15):
Oh yeah, Cammy?

Speaker 8 (12:16):
Yes, Oh she's Cameron.

Speaker 5 (12:17):
Listen, Cameron.

Speaker 1 (12:18):
She was two.

Speaker 5 (12:19):
She's like, I don't know what just happened here, you know,
I don't know what I just watched as being a
member of this team. But they'll get it together, hopefully,
And then I will say this, we are at the
worst part of the year to be suffering injuries, and
we've had five main injuries this year, which again goes
back to how the heck is Cammy started every single
game consecutively, has never missed one game, when this year alone,

(12:42):
we're dealing with five injuries. So you got to pull
people out, You got to put people in the lineup
who normally don't play right Our pitcher, our starting pitcher,
has fractures in her pitching finger right now. So we're
dealing with a lot. But adversity. You overcome adversity no
matter what you're dealing with in life. It doesn't even
have to be sports. You know what your job. You

(13:03):
deal with adversity all the time, whether it's people you
work with or you're not getting an assignment done on time.
You've got to deal with crap. It happens in everyday life.

Speaker 2 (13:12):
It does.

Speaker 5 (13:13):
Do you rise above it or do you just tinker out?

Speaker 8 (13:16):
Resilience?

Speaker 7 (13:17):
Baby? All right, Well, in the midst of resilience, I've
brought you a Mother's day beverage.

Speaker 5 (13:21):
You brought me alcohol.

Speaker 8 (13:23):
Let's do this, Let's crack it.

Speaker 5 (13:25):
She brought me alcohol? I did you this Thursday night?

Speaker 8 (13:29):
Probably did?

Speaker 7 (13:29):
I brought her a lemon drop martini, which let's cheers,
cheers cheers to mothers like lemon drops.

Speaker 8 (13:36):
I figured you did h.

Speaker 5 (13:40):
Cut water? These are dangerous.

Speaker 8 (13:43):
I don't even know what they are. What are they?

Speaker 5 (13:46):
They are strong? So we were at a Red, White
and Boom party with Earl and they have different alcohol
things that you can drink. It's the first time I
ever had cut water. Well, I cut loose after my cutwater.

Speaker 8 (14:00):
Where is the show gonna go today?

Speaker 3 (14:03):
You know?

Speaker 5 (14:03):
But I would stay tuned just to hear what happens
after Michayla and I drink these lemon drop cutwaters. I
didn't even know what I put into my mouth until
I turned the cane over and.

Speaker 8 (14:12):
I see cut water.

Speaker 7 (14:14):
Well, hey, I'm gonna have you in good form for
a selection Sunday. Yes, show later today.

Speaker 5 (14:19):
Yes you are the listen to this, you know when
it rains at pourse. So we're already driving back. We
figured we'd stay at the hotel a couple of days
because we figured they'd win that first game, right, and
then it would have been a high state Michigan vying
for the championship game in the Big Ten. That didn't happen.

Speaker 8 (14:37):
What ended up happening. He ended up going to the camps.

Speaker 5 (14:39):
Michigan ended up winning the whole thing, and we beat
them three times this year.

Speaker 8 (14:43):
That was an electric series.

Speaker 5 (14:44):
It was important for them though, otherwise they would not
have made it into the NC Double Tournament. Every team
who wins their conference is an automatic qualifier, So because
Michigan won the whole thing, they're automatically into the NC
Double eight and we probably weren't going to see them
in there. So anyway, we're driving home and we're talking
to different families, you know, to pass the time, and

(15:08):
Randy's probably just not paying attention to much as we're
driving and talking to one family and another family. All
of a sudden, we're on the highway and uh, we
run out of gas.

Speaker 8 (15:19):
No, you didn't, We ran out on that highway.

Speaker 5 (15:22):
Yes. Fortunately, you know, when you're going from Indiana to Ohio,
which it was at Purdue, there's a lot of rural
roadways where there's nothing around you. True, Thank goodness. This
is where you say God was probably looking out for us.
We were right next to an exit, so we even
coasted right to the bottom of the exit and then

(15:43):
cur plunk nothing. Kylon's in the back seat having a fit.
Oh I'm sure, Dad, how do you run out of gas?
Because they ran out on the highway Randy, years ago,
when Kylon was like maybe ten years old, for a
baseball tournament. They ran out of gas. Yeah. I don't
know too many people who have run out of guess
these days, but we did. So then we got out

(16:04):
of the car. Kai stayed in the car, like, I
don't think you should stay in the car because it's
right off the exited car could hit you, And He's like,
now I'm staying so Grandy and I walked no help
of my son Randon, and I walked, bought a little
gas can and gas and through the gas station. Yeah,
it wasn't that far of a walk, but it was.

Speaker 7 (16:22):
You were the people on the side of the highway walking.

Speaker 8 (16:25):
With the can.

Speaker 5 (16:26):
Wish I would have had my can of cut water.

Speaker 8 (16:28):
I know cut water would have worked really well.

Speaker 5 (16:30):
Then there's another story that I'm going to save for
our hot topic, and this one has me very angry
and very worried. Oh yeah, I'll call tell you. I'll
tell you during our time.

Speaker 7 (16:42):
During our hot topic. We have a lot coming up today. Yeah,
I mean it's a busy time in general. Happy Mother's
Day to everyone out there. But we are going to
talk travel and tourism.

Speaker 8 (16:52):
I mean it's hot.

Speaker 7 (16:53):
It's like seventy five out of there day and it's
making me think where do I want to go in Ohio?

Speaker 8 (16:56):
Coming ap real soon.

Speaker 5 (16:57):
I love this weather.

Speaker 7 (16:59):
Yes, Matt McLaren, Ohio Chamber of Commerce, Director of Travel
and Tourism, he will be in. We're also talking Mental
Health Awareness Month. Saint Vincent Family Services has some summer
offerings for your kiddos and grand kiddos. So yeah, we're
pretty filled today and we want to hear from people
eventually too about their favorite Ohio attractions.

Speaker 8 (17:18):
Once you start thinking about that, if.

Speaker 5 (17:19):
You call in during that segment, it's a five o'clock hour,
and let us know what's your favorite Ohio attraction is
for years or maybe a new one. Whatever. We are
giving away three tickets to Rock and Roll Hall of
Fame in the Cleveland area.

Speaker 1 (17:33):
I love that.

Speaker 8 (17:35):
What a great experience to be able to go have
So three tickets.

Speaker 5 (17:38):
Three tickets? I said, Now are they two tickets of three?
Are they one group of three? He wants to do
three different people one ticket. So if you go, it
would be buy one, get one free, like you would
buy one ticket, but you'd get another to.

Speaker 8 (17:49):
Get another one free.

Speaker 5 (17:50):
God, I just want to go yourself. You get a
free ticket.

Speaker 8 (17:53):
If you want to be selfish, do that, and you
know that's all right.

Speaker 5 (17:56):
And if you want to call at any point and
share a Mother's Day moment, a Mother's Day memory, favorite
thing about mom, you know, I McKayla and I were
just talking. Mother Day means Mother's Day means so much
different for me now. It's just different because my mom's
not here, and I know my kids are, and Cammie
cooked me dinner the other night and she surprised me.

(18:16):
After church, her and Randy had a plan that we
were gonna grab something to eat, and she went came
right up and surprised me as well. Meanwhile, Kylin was
asleep in our basement because he's home for the weekend.

Speaker 8 (18:25):
I'm like, Hi, it's Mother's Day. Oh I girl, weeken,
we'll have some we'll talk about our days. We'll do
that too.

Speaker 7 (18:32):
So yes, you guys call us, tell us about your
Mother's Day and is it different?

Speaker 5 (18:36):
And you have two boys. We just had a studio
full of girls. Is it different? Moms out there, how
your boys are to you on Mother's Day and how
your daughters are on Mother's Day. I'm so curious. Please
let us know.

Speaker 7 (18:48):
Six one four eight one nine eight eighty six.

Speaker 8 (18:51):
That's six one four eight two one.

Speaker 7 (18:53):
WTVN Hot Topics though first, and they're coming up next.

Speaker 8 (18:57):
This is what matters, its chass
