Speaker 1 (00:03):
Welcome guys to our five o'clock hour. It's so funny
because Sean from Sam's Club is in studio with us,
and you were on maybe a month or so ago,
and we were just doing cross talk while we were
doing the commercial, because we always talk because Michael and
I are talkers and Sean's a great guy who we
just met a little bit ago. What was it about
a month or so ago? So Mikayla asked him. I said,
did you go back and listen to your segment what

(00:24):
you think? And the first thing you said was what.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
I hate listening myself in a recording. I just do
not like it at all.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
So many people say that about their their own voice
when they hear.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
It, which is funny because I actually think you have
a really great voice for radio.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
Well, thank you all.

Speaker 1 (00:38):
That's better than saying you've got a great face for radio,
which is what my mom says.

Speaker 4 (00:43):
So yeah, I'm not going to tell you that.

Speaker 3 (00:45):
It looks we have you on cameras, so I mean,
you're ready today, got on your blue. I feel like
we've coordinated. It's your Sam's Blue though.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
It's right, it's my Sam's Blue. Ali proudly if I
take my unbutton my shirt?

Speaker 1 (00:58):
Are you getting undressed? This is a fair show, Sean. Oh,
there is important to Sam's Club.

Speaker 4 (01:06):
It's a little iron man. I love it a lot.

Speaker 1 (01:10):
I love it a lot. As long as you don't
un button too far. Well you can just stop right.

Speaker 2 (01:15):
I'd like to be warm as well.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
So first of all, we want to talk with you
about a few things, because there's a few things you
want people to know about with Sam's coming up. But
should we open these you brought us a few things.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
Opened the box because it's see if you can guess
what it is, it's from Sam's Club Hub. So you
can go to Sam's Clubhub dot com and actually order
these if you really want to.

Speaker 4 (01:34):
Oh, this is hysteria.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
It's a little cart, it's a little card.

Speaker 4 (01:37):
It's right based on this is what the people bring
my stuff out to me in everything. Absolutely bring it
out in these carts. Oh, how fun is that?

Speaker 1 (01:47):
I'm gonna add this to see Boots thinks hees all
that because he has every trinket imaginable in his studio
that we're in. But I'm adding my own little stash
right here, Mikayla. And it's growing and it's growing, and
I'm going to add this to it.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
And if Tiny Jesus wants to ride that, you can't do.
Ty Jesus that you brought us last.

Speaker 3 (02:05):
Time, Tiny Jesus hits right into the basket. I'm sure, well,
thank you. That is just like a lovely little choke.
People can get these online.

Speaker 2 (02:13):
Ye, Sam's Club hub dot com. You can get the
SAMs dot com.

Speaker 1 (02:18):
Do they work to the little Absolutely?

Speaker 4 (02:22):
You also brought us like three kinds of water.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
Three different kinds.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
I'm trying to figure this out. Are we doing a
water taste test or what's going on?

Speaker 2 (02:28):
Well, we just want to make sure you guys are
hydrated while you're on the air and you don't have
any problems or anything. And these are three different kinds
of waters that we carry at Sam's Club that are
all delicious.

Speaker 1 (02:37):
Which is the best selling one.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
Oh, probably the Fiji water, but this is the Hawaiian water,
what I call the Volcano water is delich. It's really
really good.

Speaker 3 (02:48):
I'm gonna I'm gonna open that one. I've never had
this one before. Wakeia waikiya something like that.

Speaker 2 (02:52):
Sure? Whatever?

Speaker 1 (02:53):
Is there a difference though to all these different bottled
waters Honestly.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
There's always a little bit of difference in the viscay
of the water. But you know me, I don't have
a sophisticated palette. I have no idea. I do know
that that Waikia water tastes great at room temperature. You know,
people are always like, I gotta have my water cold. Well,
with that water, you don't have to.

Speaker 4 (03:13):
So wow.

Speaker 1 (03:14):
The last time Sean was on, we were talking about
the number one most popular selling item at Sam's Club.
Do you remember what it was, Mikayla, You use it
every day? Toilet paper.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
Yeah, I was thinking about OMG. This is like an
OMG moment right here, because every time I leave the
club at nine, I go do my thing. I come
back at three o'clock and almost all, if not all,
all the Sam's Club toilet paper is gone, as well
as almost all the same club members. Mark brand paper

(03:48):
towels are also gone, same time, and they have to
stock them up at three o'clock every day consistently. It's consistently. Yeah,
it's not a oh we think someone's going to go
on strike, Oh there's a big winter storm coming up, whatever, whatever.
They just sell like crazy. It's amazing.

Speaker 3 (04:03):
Well, we have dogs, we have kids, we have all
the things at home that use all of those things.

Speaker 2 (04:09):
I will say that that's right.

Speaker 4 (04:11):
So the Plus.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
Membership and the regular membership, So I've I think I've.

Speaker 4 (04:17):
Done PLUS before. I have a regular one right now.

Speaker 3 (04:20):
I don't know why I don't have Plus right now,
but there is a difference, and we really should consider that,
and I would love to know, because if I knew
how to better utilize the Plus, I would go back
to it.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
Well, it's easy because you're paying a little bit more
money for it, but you're getting more in return for it.
In other words, you're kind of getting what you paid for
and you're only paying a little bit more for it
to begin with. So why not get that as a
Sam's Club member? And of course, the most important thing
is that you're going to get two percent cash back

(04:54):
every time you shop as a Plus customer. So when
you get the same Sam's Club master card, that goes
from two percent to five percent every time you shop
at just Sam's Club. So then the master card five
percent of cash back on gas, three percent back on dining,
one percent on everything else. And then what makes us

(05:17):
different than the other cause is that we give you
your cash back once a month. Oh not once a year.

Speaker 1 (05:26):
That is a big difference. Really, Yeah, So if they
want to, can they hold it for once a year?

Speaker 2 (05:31):
Well, they get it once a month, but they can
save it up.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
I mean the one of the first people I ever
talked to was like, she was the credit card gal
and look and she showed me her Sam's Club app
and she had saved up twenty five hundred dollars. Wow,
I'm like, Zalie. You know.

Speaker 3 (05:49):
So it feeds back onto your card, the cash So
if you stack it up and then it feeds back
onto your card or do you have to have the
card to get the two percent that you were talking about.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
Well, it'll show up on your app if you download app.
And I'll pull this up right.

Speaker 4 (06:02):
Here, I will pull my app up as well.

Speaker 1 (06:04):
Well, you guys are pulling this up. I want to
tell you something because you mentioned cash back. That is
one of the biggest reasons why people join Sam's Club.
There was a survey the most popular reasons why people
joined Sam's Club. Number one bulk shopping, then early shopping hours.
Prescription savings was huge for people. That ross of pricing,

(06:25):
free shipping, there's your cash back. And then the other
most important reason is optical and pharmacy discounts.

Speaker 3 (06:32):
So I guess I have a Sam's Cash area on?
Is that it on my app?

Speaker 4 (06:36):
Okay? Got it? And so I have zero dollars, but
I don't have plus right now either.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
See what I Look what I have? Can you see mine?
Minnigans ninety and twenty four?

Speaker 3 (06:48):
So what can you do with the Sam's cash as
you start to accruise, Well, here's.

Speaker 2 (06:52):
The other cool thing. Our competitor will give it to
you once a year and you have to spend it
there and it was you end up just spending it
on buying another manmbership for another year. It's Sam's Club.

Speaker 1 (07:02):
You get it probably really what people do, seriously, that's all.

Speaker 2 (07:05):
That's what we used to do at Sam's Club. We'll
give it to you once a month. You can spend
it at Sam's Club, or you can walk up to
the front desk and be like, give me my money,
and they'll give your money, you know, like jack Berry
comes out of the back and the count the money.

Speaker 1 (07:20):
If you cash, they'll.

Speaker 2 (07:20):
Give you cash money and you can walk out door
and spend anywhere you want to Oh, that's a much
better deal.

Speaker 4 (07:25):
It's a great deal.

Speaker 2 (07:26):
Seriously, pretty happy about that.

Speaker 4 (07:28):
So plus gets you there.

Speaker 2 (07:29):
Though, Plus gets you there, that's right, which.

Speaker 3 (07:32):
It still is carrying my I was Plus in twenty
twenty three because I do see I got some Sam's
cash back then, So okay. And what's the difference in
cost between a basic and a plus membership?

Speaker 2 (07:42):
Basic? For us, the club membership is only fifty dollars.
Our competition is sixty five. Our plus membership is one ten.
Our competition is one thirty. But you know that's the
reason I exist, because I have a job selling you
discount memberships.

Speaker 4 (07:57):
Oh yeah, right, last time.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
So I'll sell you that club membership for only twenty
dollars if you're a new customer, or if you're coming
back and say, you know what, I want to come back,
I want to switch to whatever the reason may be.
Or you can get the plus membership for sixty dollars,
which is fifty dollars off, which is the price that
you would have paid for a club in the first place.

Speaker 1 (08:18):
So you try to be everywhere and Sean, you have
such a great personality and you're awesome with people. I'm
sure the people of Sam's Club love you being part
of their team. But you will be out and about
at the Columbus Home and Garden Show. I think it's
what February fifteenth.

Speaker 2 (08:33):
Through twenty third, Yes, Cindy to do.

Speaker 1 (08:35):
And people see you, what should they do? Just come
up and introduce themselves to you, say hey, I heard
you on the What Matter Show with Mindy and McKay, like,
give me something free.

Speaker 2 (08:42):
Yeah, well we have all that free stuff to give you.
Trust me there. And it's kind of funny you mentioned
that because last time I was on the radio, the
guy and from the Hilliard store said, you know, I
had somebody come up to me and are you the
guy that was on the radio.

Speaker 1 (08:57):
That's my home store, that's own town, hometown, Hilliard.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
So yeah, Joe's been doing it for longer than a
lot of people, so he's really good at it. And
he'll be there too. And hope to have two or
three different stores. We have four in Columbus area. We
have Hilliard, We have Dublin, which is just down the
street from us here at the studio, and then we
have my store which is on Morse Road across from Easton.
And then we have a Rentalsburg store, and we have

(09:22):
twenty one other stores in the state of Ohio. So
we have twenty five total in the state of Ohio.
Sam's Clubs.

Speaker 1 (09:28):
Can you monitor, like which one does the best?

Speaker 2 (09:31):
Oh, I'm keeping track every day. Let me tell you that, how.

Speaker 1 (09:34):
Do your stores compete? Honestly, the ones you are in
charge of.

Speaker 2 (09:37):
Well, I'm just I'm just a membership guy, you know,
basic membership guy. So I'm just looking at my totals
and you know, like, for example, Saturday, I went out
and did my thing at the next door Walmart, and
right now, because it was the first day of the year,
I'm number one in sales.

Speaker 4 (09:52):
For my market, everybody was ready to go buy all
their bulk. Yeah yeah, because that's a bunch of bulk,
a bunch of bulk.

Speaker 3 (10:01):
So if they find you at the Home and Garden
show or wherever you might be next, you can do
this discounted basic or plus for them.

Speaker 2 (10:08):
Oh how this works? Absolutely well. Look them if they've
had a membership and they've been out for a little while,
We'll look them up in the system, get them all
signed up again, give them the discount, make them happy,
then go back to shopping at Sam's Club. You know,
I've had a lot of people recently come up to
me and say, yeah, it's with that other, you know group,
And now I want to come back to you guys
because you're less expensive.

Speaker 3 (10:27):
You guys are less expensive. I can definitely attest to that.
And look at the stuff that you have in your ad.
I mean, you guys are carrying gap body stuff. I'm
looking in here amongst other things. Some of the brands
you guys bring in just a really quality poppy. People
love that water. That's that like a fruit based water
that has great like vitamins and electrolytes in it and whatnot,

(10:50):
and tastes really good too. And I mean, yeah, you guys,
you have a ton of stuff going on. And is
this is the brochure that you guys have out right now?

Speaker 4 (10:57):
Oh? This is so? This is for this is what weekend?
Am I reading that right?

Speaker 2 (11:02):
Part of the weekend? Yeah? The doorbusters are one weekend
and then the grocer total. The whole catalog is for
pretty much the whole month of February through the twenty third.

Speaker 1 (11:09):
I see that down the bottom.

Speaker 4 (11:10):
Okay, plus you've.

Speaker 1 (11:12):
Got next weekend there will be the Super Bowl all
kinds of parties. I'm sure you guys have fruit trays,
party trays, things like that for people to plan in
the Super Bowl parties.

Speaker 2 (11:21):
Yeah, we have some delicious things that you can take
out of the grocery area to fresh things like chicken
palm and chicken and noodles and all these different things.
You can just take them home and eat them up
when you want to and be ready to go.

Speaker 3 (11:37):
So and I love that in here you have some
super Bowl recipes inside there where you just go in
get the stuff that goes with the recipe that you see,
including I've not seen jarrito siracha before.

Speaker 4 (11:49):
That sounds spicy.

Speaker 2 (11:51):
We have some exclusive things sometimes too, like we had
the strawberry flavored frosted flakes. At one time.

Speaker 1 (11:58):
I thought that you guys were the only ones to have.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
The only ones to have them.

Speaker 1 (12:01):
Huh.

Speaker 2 (12:02):
The funny thing is now Walmart has them, so I
can still get my.

Speaker 1 (12:04):
Fixed, but I want to. It's funny though, when you
try something like that, when it's exclusivity, it's city. When
it's exclusive, you don't want to go away. And now
you can still get your fist.

Speaker 3 (12:15):
And we're about to do Valentine's Day in our next
couple of segments, and you have all kinds of Valentine's
Day stuff, including strawberry champagne popcorn.

Speaker 4 (12:23):
Give me some of that.

Speaker 1 (12:24):
That's good stuff, strawberry champagne popcorn. I like the covered
strawberries which are right there, yeah, right on top, So
listen it. Basically, a membership pays for itself in tenfold.
At Sam's Club. Oh yeah, savings are incredible.

Speaker 2 (12:39):
Yeah. I mean you know they AARP did a survey
a couple of years ago, late twenty twenty three, and
then we were beating competition by at least fifteen percent.

Speaker 1 (12:48):
Well, I believe it. At least I absolutely believe it.
So if people want more information, Sean, where do they go?

Speaker 2 (12:53):
Well, they can go to Sam's Club dot com. They
can email me at six three oh seven membership at
Sam's Club dot com. Say that again, six three zero
seven membership at Sam's Club dot com. Or please come
to the Home and Garden Show and say hi and
get your membership.

Speaker 1 (13:11):
Yeah, tell him you heard him on the show.

Speaker 4 (13:14):
What matters, right, because savings matter to us. Sean, thanks
so much, not a problem, We'll see you soon.

Speaker 1 (13:21):
Thanks for the water. I'm just glad you didn't want
us to drink this whole thing right now, all three.

Speaker 4 (13:26):
You totally would have to run to the back.

Speaker 2 (13:28):
Save that for the next time you go to the
doctor exactly.

Speaker 3 (13:31):
