Speaker 1 (00:00):
Is experiencing her first ever cut water because at the
beginning of the show, she's like, Oh, I brought you
a Mother's Day drink. It's a lemon ball.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
Yeah, what is it? Lemon?
Speaker 1 (00:09):
What? It's a lemon It's a lemon drop.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
I mean lemon drop martini. Okay.
Speaker 1 (00:13):
And then so I turned the can over and I'm like,
oh my gosh, it's a cut water. You have no idea.
How start?
Speaker 2 (00:17):
I didn't know what she meant when she said, oh
my god, it's a cut water. I had no clue.
Speaker 1 (00:21):
So how you feeling.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
I feel real relaxed. But Mindy's on me because I
have not finished this. I just gave her, actually the
last quarter.
Speaker 1 (00:27):
Because I finished mine and you still have I.
Speaker 2 (00:30):
Still have a whole. Well, it's it like a flute,
a Champagne flute. To go, Mindy, I do, yes, I
I man, Maydy should take me out. I don't know
if I could keep up with her, but I'm sure
it would be a real good time.
Speaker 1 (00:41):
You could not keep up with me, that's for sure.
And I'm almost sixty and you couldn't keep.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
Up with me. That is so sad. I'm Kayla, that
is so sad.
Speaker 1 (00:48):
So we're talking about Mother's Day and you, guys, we
would love to hear from you. At six one four,
eight two, one nine eight eight six six one four
eight two one nine eight eighty six. I was very
open and very honest with all of you to tell
you that Mother's Day is not the same for me
and it never will be again without my mom here,
and she was such my favorite person in life. It's
(01:09):
just different having to go to the cemetery and put
flowers on her grave site, and then we brought flowers
to my two grandmas as well. It's just different. And
they're like, well, you're a mom too, you know, you
can celebrate you, but it doesn't matter to me. I
mean it does, as it does.
Speaker 2 (01:23):
You don't have anyone to give homage to, you know
what I mean, you don't have anyone to do that way.
Speaker 1 (01:28):
I'm supposed to celebrate Mother's Day because of my mom. Well,
my mom's not here anymore. So Mikayla is here and
she has two boys. So she told me that her
youngest son, Christian, knocked it out of the park.
Speaker 2 (01:42):
By all right, it's always the oldest, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
So Mikayla said he wrote something and like, tell Marcus
to send me what he wrote. I would try to
read it over the air. So this is a good idea.
And for any of you listening right now, if you're
a mom, or even for a Father's Day, try to
do this. Get your kids to write something. And then
it's a keepsake because I know you and I know
you'll hold onto this forever. So Christian wrote, and how
(02:12):
old is Christian?
Speaker 2 (02:13):
Christian's about to be. Oh, he's twelve right now.
Speaker 1 (02:15):
He put, dear Mom, I can't read all of it
because we don't have time.
Speaker 2 (02:18):
For the rest.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
Reasons why my mom is special and he put number one,
The number one reason why you're special to Christian is
looking out for him. When you are watching me play
or I'm going to do something, or I'm doing something
that needs supervision, you always give me instructions so I'm safe.
And he went on about that, and then he put
(02:41):
also doing something together. Whenever we do something together, it's
whether it's the pool or a game. You always let
me turn the page. You always have a way to
make it fun. Three is bonding. He's talking about bonding,
sitting next to each other, a big hug, holding hands, snuggling,
(03:04):
rubs and more makes you special. And then he puts, Christian,
I love this. If you've nailed your mom, you nailed
it on number four and that is planning p L
A N N I n G. That is your mother
to a t. You always are using the phone book
(03:26):
to keep things organized, and I'm grateful for that because
of the places we wouldn't do or go if we
didn't do that. Also, he talked about vacations and the
last thing he did was number six and he talked
about love. Your love makes me feel happy and makes
me feel confident and always inspires me to do things,
(03:47):
just to do things. Then I look up to you.
You are a role model. That was from your youngest son.
You know what I got from my son, your oldest
to nothing.
Speaker 2 (04:01):
He was sleeping in the basement.
Speaker 1 (04:04):
He came home to spend time with us, which I love.
That's my happiest mother's any time with my kids. But nothing,
not a card, not a nothing.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
But you said something earlier though, And Christian's a unique individual.
We know this. Boys and girls are different are different
about these things.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
Yeah, my daughter went all out. She always does.
Speaker 2 (04:24):
She does, and sometimes especially young men of a certain
age range, and I would say it's probably around Logan's
age to probably mid twenties. They struggle. Logan Legit asked
my husband today, so there's a Mother's Day and a
Father's Day? When is there a kid's day every day?
And that's exactly what Marcus told them, probably on Logan.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
Okay. So this was a national survey and this was done.
My mom's all over the country fed into this and
they were asked, what do you want the most on
Mother's Day? What do you think is the number one response?
The number one response that moms want the most on
Mother's Day, I'm talking about gifts or gifts of action.
Speaker 2 (05:09):
So my mid thirties to mid forties friends, I'm going
to give you what I think based on that, I'm
going to say, time to themselves.
Speaker 1 (05:17):
Okay, that's what I'm going to say. The number one
thing according to this national survey.
Speaker 2 (05:21):
Is sleep, which also could be time to yourself.
Speaker 1 (05:25):
That was the top of the list. I can hundred
percent relate to that because I don't sleep well at night.
You don't mind is tossing and turning.
Speaker 2 (05:34):
I need to get you a notebook to do you
have a notebook next to your bed.
Speaker 1 (05:37):
No, I don't have a note have a notebook? Okay,
she may not use it if I give it to her.
Next is a spa day and I will tell you
this Style Salon in Spall.
Speaker 2 (05:45):
I saw that you guys went and like got treated.
Speaker 1 (05:48):
I love Style Salansball. That's where Cammy and I both
get her hair done.
Speaker 2 (05:50):
You do like very nice and blonde.
Speaker 1 (05:52):
We had a great idea with Kelly Douglas, who's the
owner of Style Salon in Spall. She's like, come over
here for a mother's day. You and Cammy enjoy a
nice full body massage. Do you know what they said
about a full body massage? What it is comparable to
an an eight hour sleep night, to a night of
eight hours.
Speaker 2 (06:11):
Of sleep I have, and I'm a person who gets massages.
I've never heard that before. Uh huh wow.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
Well it was fun because they have two beds set
up together so Cammy and I could catch up on things.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
So it was like a couple's massage. That wasn't a
couple's massage.
Speaker 1 (06:23):
It was a couples because it was a mother daughter
So that's yeah. Second on the list is a spa day.
Thank you, Style Slanspa go there, check it out. Awesome.
Also a day without making decisions or cooking a meal.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
Amen, let's let's let's give let's clap for that. Sometimes
you just are done making decisions, you know, do you.
Speaker 1 (06:43):
Make more decisions or does Marcus make more decisions?
Speaker 2 (06:45):
I think I probably make more decisions, but I think
I do it because they want to make sure that
it passes muster, you know, like that, I'm good with it,
like that, I'm good with it, you know, maybe passes muster.
Maybe that's an Illinois term. Like then I'm okay with it,
like it meets my level that.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
Even if Marcus makes the decision, it really doesn't. It
can get over roaded for you or from you. I do.
Speaker 2 (07:09):
I do think I could overwrite it.
Speaker 1 (07:11):
I want you to Randy. I don't know if you're
listening or not, and I'm sorry if you are. But
I feel like I make most of the decisions in
the family, and I think it may be a.
Speaker 2 (07:20):
Mom thing, might be a mom thing, but I think that's.
Speaker 1 (07:22):
Because Randy wants to make sure I'm happy.
Speaker 2 (07:25):
Which I love, Yes, happy life, And I do think
there is something to that. And you know, he made
a decision that I overrode today. He made a fan.
Speaker 1 (07:32):
Randy or Marcus. Marcus.
Speaker 2 (07:34):
He made a fancy brunch reservation for this morning, and
I told him yesterday I cancel it. I don't want
to do it.
Speaker 1 (07:40):
And he canceled it and canceled it. Yeah. I think
in the majority of American families, the moms have the
final say so. So this was on the list, and
I don't know how you feel about this A car detail.
Speaker 2 (07:50):
I like it.
Speaker 1 (07:51):
I do too. I went and took myself to get
my car washed and cleaned out. Came He's like, you
want me to help vacuum, Like, no, I got it.
Speaker 2 (07:58):
Good for you. I do it.
Speaker 1 (08:00):
I did myself for Mother's Day. I mean for a
car detail. That is, anyway, a staycation alone.
Speaker 2 (08:08):
I know plenty of people doing that this weekend. One
day thing.
Speaker 1 (08:11):
Right there, a staycation alone. So you said that at
the top of the list, and then listen to this.
According to the survey, most Americans will spend about two
hundred and fifty dollars on their mom this year. What
two hundred and fifty dollars generating thirty four billion dollars
in sales across the country. By the way, listen to this.
What do you think is the oldest mom that gave
(08:36):
natural birth? Natural birth? Oldest mom in America, not in
the world, but in America sixty seven ten years younger
my eight five, fifty seven year old woman from New Hampshire.
She had a son in March four years ago. I
don't think that's that out of the question. Maybe because
I am fifty seven. I mean I couldn't have a
I couldn't you get pregnant, right? Because no, because of
(08:59):
life and things.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
You know, I have a girlfriend from college who just
had her first baby. She's on my pledg shisters forty six.
She had her first baby and it happens and everything's good.
The baby's cuter than a button. And I know a
couple of people in town who are mid fifties who
had a kid around that same time. So yeah, I
mean I think it can happen. There's definite energy needed
(09:23):
to do the work.
Speaker 1 (09:26):
I know if I ever shared the story with you,
but I will because it's Mother's Day. So we had
at Channel four when we worked together, we had a
health reporter and there was a new who was the reporter, Eleanorois.
Speaker 2 (09:39):
Oh, it was before I got there. I know who
you're talking about, but she wasn't there by the time
I got there, Eleanor.
Speaker 1 (09:43):
I can't think of her last thing right now? You
know who I'm talking about.
Speaker 2 (09:46):
Wasn't she related to the people on Morning Joe or
she had some connection to Morning show?
Speaker 1 (09:50):
Maybe I don't know, but Ellen. Anyway, she was our
health reporter and I was pregnant with my son, Kylin,
and she wanted to do this updated health story on
a I knew ultrasound and it showed so much and
it could detect so much, and I said, sure, I'll
do it. So when we did this story, they had
to cancel the story because when they looked at my ultrasound,
(10:12):
what they thought that Kylon was going to have Down
syndrome because of this ultrasound. It showed the thickness in
the neck and.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
I know that's a sign in terms of downs.
Speaker 1 (10:23):
And so they had to sit me down and they're like,
I don't think we should do this story. I don't
think the public needs to know that you may be
giving birth to a little boy or girl that has
Down syndrome.
Speaker 2 (10:33):
They didn't air it.
Speaker 1 (10:34):
They didn't air it, and they talked to me, what
do you want to do with this pregnancy. Do you
want to terminate this pregnancy? Do you want to go on?
I said what I said, you know what, God has
blessed me with a kid. I don't care if this
kid is a boy or a girl, if this son
or daughter has down syndrome, I will deal with whatever.
I'm not going to terminate this pregnancy.
Speaker 2 (10:53):
And at that point, you were in what like your
early to mid thirties. You had to be based on
Kylon's age. Now, yes, in your age, so.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
Yeah, but how crazy is that? You never knew that?
So we went ahead on with the pregnancy, of course,
and then everything was fine, and everything was fine, mm hmm.
Speaker 2 (11:13):
You know, modern medicine does some pretty incredible things, but
it's not always one hundred percent accurate.
Speaker 1 (11:19):
Right, Let's say that you know how many people have
looked at an ultrasound. This is back of the day,
you know. Now, I'm sure they can guarantee if it's
a boy or girl. But I have known moms who
found out that they were having a baby girl and
they were so excited they wanted that daughter, and then
a son is born and they're depressed about it. I'm like,
how can you be depressed. You have a healthy kid.
(11:41):
It really it doesn't matter if it's a son, so
much right on that it doesn't matter if it's a
son or a daughter. I feel very blessed that I
have both a son and a daughter, and you feel
blessed because you have two boys. It's whatever God gives you.
Speaker 2 (11:54):
You never got busy, Yeah, And I think I would
have been a good and understanding girl mom as being
the oldest of three girls. But I needed the boy experience,
let's be real, like I needed Yeah, I think when
I was. I was with a friend last night for
some pre Mother's Day cocktails up and Powell and we
were talking. She'd been out with her daughter shopping and
I don't get that. I mean, Christian, it can be
pretty good sometimes, but I'm never going to have the
(12:16):
full day of shopping and pedicures and style salon like
I'll never have that, and my middle sister will never
have that either, so mine.
Speaker 1 (12:24):
I took Kyle in Leet his very first pedicure. He
loved it. First he was like, no, I'm not doing this,
but then he loved it. So when we come back,
I'm going to test Mikayla's TV mom No, oh.
Speaker 2 (12:34):
I can't wait. And a shout out to my coworker
who gave birth on Friday for the first time in
ten years. This is her third kid, Katie Frayley, congratulations,
so excited. She is in her mid.
Speaker 1 (12:47):
Thirties and you were talking about the forty seven year old.
Speaker 2 (12:50):
No, no, she's she had her two daughters in her
twenties and now she has a boy.
Speaker 1 (12:55):
Oh, Michael, it is good to have one of both.
It is it's good to.
Speaker 2 (12:59):
Have one of both. All right, we're gonna do TV
mom testing when we come back. This is what matters.
