From everyday residents and longtime customers, to the Mayor of Ottawa and famous Prime Ministers, the doors of John’s Diner have welcomed people from all walks of life for more than 50 years. If you’ve ever taken a stroll in Wellington Village along Wellington Street West and Gilchrist Avenue, you can’t miss the mural of longtime owner John Hatoum. Dressed from head-to-toe in white, and holding a white coffee cup, his mural is the first sight people see as they enter one of the city's finest family-owned restaurants. However, after Friday’s dinners have been served, the lights will be turned off one last time. There is no trouble in paradise for the Hatoum family. They just want to enjoy these precious moments of paradise while they are still here. Tony Hatoum, John’s son, works at the diner himself. He joins Kristy Cameron on Ottawa Now.
