The Hubble Space Telescope launched in April 1990. Elaina Hyde, a professor in the Department of Physics & Astronomy in York University’s Faculty of Science and director of the Allan I. Carswell Observatory, joined Shane Hewitt and the Nightshift and says that in its 35 years the Hubble Space Telescope has significantly surpassed its projected lifespan, making groundbreaking discoveries about black holes, galaxies, and the universe, and remains accessible for potential future maintenance due to its location in low Earth orbit.
