Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is an audio only edition of a Lot of
Help with James Junior.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
I'm James Jr.

Speaker 1 (00:05):
And someone asked me how I got started in the
podcast game, and so I have a very interesting story
about that, and it's a story of.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
You can.

Speaker 1 (00:20):
Use what you have, you'll need fancy equipment to get started.
So so around twenty fifteen sixteen, I have my own
radio show, the super Organizer Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
Show or Addrelline Radios.

Speaker 1 (00:34):
I had that going then I met Then I started
working at AFTERBSTV as a TV host and they were
doing audio and video. They're doing audio extraction from the videos,
and so I was like, oh, that's very fancy. But
for me at that time, I had no desktop. I
always had Apple products, but when it came I had laptops,

(00:57):
and my laptops until this one that I have now,
which has been amazing, have been like Windows, so like Toshiba,
Samsung I've had.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
I had these laptops.

Speaker 1 (01:10):
I had like two since I was here, two or three,
and notebooks and I kin stuff, so I always had those.
I never had a desktop in my house. My mother
had an iMac at her house and I didn't really
use that often. I was over there all the time.
So I saw I just had a laptop. I never
thought that.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
I was like, maybe we never get a desktop. I
got a desktop finally in twenty nineteen.

Speaker 1 (01:33):
Back in twenty fifteen, twenty sixteen, I had my laptop,
I had iPhone, I had a secondary phone with Samsung,
and I had an iPad.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
So what I would And so when I decided to.

Speaker 1 (01:47):
Do some work for myself and do interviews on my
own and kind of do some podcasting on my own.
I did have a network or anything. I was just
kind of like, just I just want to try some stuff.
By started getting guests cause I started making friends with
the PR people and I started getting guests twenty sixteen seventeen,
I was like, okay. Eight twenty eighteen, I was kind

(02:09):
of okay, I gotta I gotta get on the ball.
And so I was only doing audio. I was not
doing video because there was no zoom. I didn't I
didn't do anything video. It was just audio stuff. So
you'll notice a lot of my early episodes of a
lot of help or just audio. I debuted the show
with the twenty five Tips of Self Care Volume one.
I've ridden on a volume two. I know whether it

(02:32):
be a volume two, who knows. I keep thinking about it.

Speaker 2 (02:34):
I do. I don't think I should I do a
volume two.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
I should so anyway, but you know, yes, was it
twenty five or fifteen twenty five?

Speaker 2 (02:44):
Oh my god, James, I guess we're gonna do.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
James, You're going while you guys are sitting here with me,
We're gonna go. And look cause I'm like, what was
it again? James, Like, how do I forget this? Because
I started out with okay, view it added view, Okay,
I have two hundred and seventy two episodes of the show.

Speaker 2 (03:03):
That is crazy. So I've doing this show for a
long time. Okay, come on this, thank you right now.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
But I but in the time I had so I
had like I'm very resourceful. I'm like, how do you
I like to figure stuff out. So I was like,
I don't I have a I have a laptop, which
I did the major work on, like editing and stuff
on there. I had a program that I was using
at the time. But just before iMovie, I had a
program that I was using I still have my side
were used in years that was an editing software program.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
And then I had.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
And so I would use my phone for interviews and
stuff are or my iPad. I remember my first Emmy's.
I didn't do it correctly. And I had my first
I didn't use it correctly. I luck like I took
pictures of everybody, but all of my interviews were ruined.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
It was it was crazy. It was crazy.

Speaker 1 (03:57):
Yeah, there's fifteen Tips to Self Care Series one. I
might do an update, kids, I really, you know, I'm
like sitting go James Lodd Jr. It might be time
to do an update of that.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
That's I might. That's so funny. I didn't even Uh,
it's been so long. Okay, we see, Okay.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
Anyway, So I start getting interviews with some incredible people
and stuff.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
So I was like, how can I do this? So
James Lodd Jr. We'll find a way.

Speaker 1 (04:33):
I said, Okay, I have my phone and I have
a second phone. I have my phone and I have
I have a laptop, have a phone and I have.

Speaker 2 (04:48):
That. So I was like, how can I do this?
So what I did was I would have them call
in to my regular phone.

Speaker 1 (05:01):
And then have it on a speaker and then have
my I had I had a folding thing with my
laptop with my laptop with my iPad, so i'd have
that voice recorder a voice recorder, and then I still use.

Speaker 2 (05:19):
It had that.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
On and recording me talking and the phone conversation. So
almost and so it's funny, this is early episodes. They
sound like they're on the radio, like they called into
the radio.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
I loved it.

Speaker 1 (05:34):
I was like, oh my goodness, so I can go
back to twenty seventeen eighteen.

Speaker 2 (05:39):
Those are all done that way.

Speaker 1 (05:42):
So again I used one of my cell phones to
have them call and one my other devices to record
that phone call on me talking.

Speaker 2 (05:53):
Right, So I was like, I was proud of myself.
I was working that out.

Speaker 1 (05:56):
I was like, okay, this is all pre all this
other stuff. Then I would either take the voicey quarter
and this before air, I didn't have air, you know,
air drop a lot of stuff, so I would put
it in I used to put it in what you call.

Speaker 2 (06:13):
It drop box.

Speaker 1 (06:15):
I put it in dropbox, and then I you know, uh,
I put it in dropbox, and then I would actually
use it. It would because I kept I had Dropbox on everything.
It crossed max and you know that, you know, and
and regular. So I got my laptop open up from

(06:37):
drop box and then work on it. It shows out,
shows whatever into the whole thing, put it out. So
I was like, oh, my goodness is the trip and
I'm tightly let me see this. I wonder if you
guys will hear this. Let's see if this works or not.
But this is my first ever show, A Lot of
Help test show with James ad Judie. It's five minutes,

(06:59):
so I'm not gonna play on five minutes, but it's
from November twenty four, twenty sixteen. Welcome to a Lot
of Help with James lot Junior. I am a certified
life coach. I went to the Coach Training Alliance and
I am also a member of the International Coach Federation.
You go to icfla dot org for more details. I've

(07:22):
been practicing for several years now, and I believe one
of the healthiest things you can do for yourself is
to admit when you need help. Throw pride out the window,
keep ego at the door, the big pick. That sounds good, right?
That was all record on my phone to like my
my my iPad. Do you drop boxed into my laptop? That

(07:44):
sounds clear. I'm proud of myself. Hey, I'm I think
back that I'm not I've not heard that episode in
that's almost ten years ago.

Speaker 2 (07:52):
It's nine years ago. I've not heard of something.

Speaker 1 (07:54):
So it's I'm like, oh my goodness, I did I
did this. I did that's yeah, So I'm just says.

Speaker 2 (08:04):
I.

Speaker 1 (08:05):
My whole thing is like this is called a lot
of help, right. My help to you is if you
want to do something, you can find a way to
do it. You can piece it together and maybe rough
at first, then eventually you'll get where it's better or
be able to get you know, better equipment or whatever

(08:26):
you can. You'll always you only go up so you
can always improve later. But there's nothing With all the
devices we have and sistors we have in place, there's
nothing stopping you.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
You want to record songs.

Speaker 1 (08:40):
There are free there are programs that have free sections.

Speaker 2 (08:44):
Use those.

Speaker 1 (08:46):
You know, you may get to a limit us all
of them, but thanks, but still use them. You got
a phone, use it. You know people, I know some
folks are perfectionists. So if you're a perfectionist, then this
episode you'd be like, no, you can't, you want me
to do it?

Speaker 2 (09:04):
But this was this thing.

Speaker 1 (09:04):
It's perfection. And my whole thing is that you can
do this stuff. It's gonna be okay. It's going to
be okay. And I said, you'll get better and better
and you can look back and go, Wow, it's a
marker from where you came. And I think that's something
that's very, very important. You said, look how much I've

(09:25):
grown since I started. My friend, you can giggle.

Speaker 2 (09:27):
I'm like, I rested.

Speaker 1 (09:28):
I went out giggling that I did this. That's how
I did it. It could have been a better way
to do it back then. Also, I had no idea.
I was trying to my own I was just starting
something of my own. I just and but I'm proud
of the fact that I did figure out a way
that was viable and I did it. It did something,
So to me, being resourceful can't help. But there's no excuse.

(09:56):
You can publish your own book, you can do your
own podcast now, video stuff, you can do videos. There's
just no matter what it is you want to do,
you can do it. So that's just it's yes, you
can do it, you can you do it. Thanks to
let me share this story, share anybody who needs to

(10:16):
hear this. It's just kind of like or use it
as something you know. I mean, everybody has money and
nobody has like stuff, but there are stuff that. The
thing is, there's things around you that can totally help. Yes, yes, yes.
A lot of help is on Facebook, a lot of
help dot com as the blog, a lot of help
blog posts on the blog post check that all out.

Speaker 2 (10:40):
