Speaker 1 (00:02):
Well, welcome to another edition of a Lot of Help
with James lo Junior.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
I'm James Junior here on j LJ Media, and I
I just felt like I had to say something because
it perplexes me sometimes and that is opportunities. Opportunities come
to you sometimes they knock knock, knock on the door
and you push them away for some reason, and I
just I don't understand that. I guess I'm such a

(00:25):
hustler promoter, Like I understand that some podcasts or some
shows may not be huge, but they still a fresh
pair of eyes or just a or practice on your
your craft or talking and.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
I'm just wonderful.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
So I had somebody who reached out to me to
follow me on LinkedIn. I'm not gonna say the name right,
I'm gonna be out shady, and so then I was like,
oh my goodness, you're a fresh organized like me, So
let me invite you on my show.

Speaker 1 (00:54):
Now, there's some people who.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
Have never done shows before and they'll tell you I
never have done a show for and I don't know
what that means. And I'm like, oh, get well, I'm
talking through it. You just had a call. I'm making
feel ady send questions to answer. You don't get some
people are some folks aren't at ease for talking. It's
all right. I feel like you have to learn that

(01:17):
skill to promote your business, obviously when your entrepreneur. But
I had a problem with helping people out with that.
Sometimes you get those sometimes like I don't know if
I have anything to say. I'm like, don't worry. I
produce this stuff. I know how to make this good.
I'll make you look good. Spot your own thing. It's
most of my shows, it's you to spot you and
your business. How you got into the business, What does

(01:39):
this business mean to you? What do you offer? And
there you go. That's all this, literally, it's all this.
Usually I'm taking twenty twenty five minutes, may thirty minutes long,
sometimes an hour. We just soone just start talking. Usually
twenty twenty five minutes of your time. So this person
sends me requests. I guess my thing is we just
want to collect connection. I just collect people. That's fine.

(02:02):
I'm shame on that one. But you responded, sure, let's
be on your show.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
Great.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
I send you dates. You never get back to me,
and then I have to come back. So I'm thinking okay,
so I might try. I say this, sometimes your stuff
gonna throw a spam folder or sell our junk folders.
You have to check those sometimes, and so I give
you a leeway on that at first. So I just
one person. I'm like, the dates have passed, they have

(02:29):
not say anything. Let me sit out another email. I
sent an email out saying, hi, the dates have passed.
Before I send new dates out, you know what is
you know what? Are you getting my emails?

Speaker 1 (02:39):
Let me know.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
There was about to go on to LinkedIn message You're
there and say are you getting my emails?

Speaker 1 (02:46):
Just make sure?

Speaker 2 (02:46):
But before I do that, she has an email fast
like oh great, but then tells me I want to
make you. I want to make you guys hear this
because I just like, because I don't understand. I don't
I'll never understand. I'll never understand. Okay, here we go,

(03:13):
here we go. I'm not going to be able to
do the appearance at this time. There's just too much
going on with our other businesses, and so I'm not
adding new clients right now. I was like, that's the

(03:35):
most tired excuse I've ever heard. So now I can
read into it because this happened before. Several things into it.

Speaker 1 (03:44):
Right.

Speaker 2 (03:46):
One, maybe you checked out my work and don't like it.
That's totally possible. Maybe you don't like my style, like
maybe I don't represent some kind of thing for you.
That's possible. Okay, we're gonna show then want to reach
out to me if you didn't know who I was
or whatever not, okay, whatever, that's fine. Two, there was

(04:08):
no opening like Okay, well let's do it next time,
or can we do it later, or there's no opening
for me.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
I could say.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
I could have said to her, Okay, well then I'll
check with you and then maybe in a couple of
months and see where you're at.

Speaker 1 (04:22):
I could do all that. I was like, now, okay,
that's it.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
I was like, I'm just like, it's it's we're talking
twenty five three minutes of your time. You don't have
that at all, Like, no, no daytime at all for that.
But there were three. I'm like, it's a free podcast
spot like you, I never heard it. I just it's

(04:51):
hard for me to accept. I have to accept from people.
But for me, all of us see it's Google. So
you're busy. That's great. I mean, that's that's the embarrassment
of riches.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
That's like so good.

Speaker 2 (05:04):
I mean those of us who are lucky to be busy,
that's a blessing. I there's times when I was super
busy and I couldn't take on any clients to more.
But what I do is either I passed around to
somebody else if they need somebody right away, because somebody
a people don't even right away. But actually after I
talked to some people, so they were just like, well,
I'm not in a rush, but so I can, I'm

(05:26):
mightna be like, okay, have one job that'll be done
in two weeks, the walk away two weeks, you still
have that, and you can say, okay, I'll see you
in two weeks, like you still have the work you
have to schedule out, but in fact you're too much
going on in other businesses and writing any new clients
right now. That to me is just and that's just
that's horrible. I don't know how successful this person is

(05:49):
or not is not is that's not good, that's not
with good English.

Speaker 1 (05:53):
So that's successful. They are not they're just super successful.
They can do that.

Speaker 2 (05:56):
But for me, I'm like, we're still talking about your business,
don't you want people to come to your websites or
your pages. So part of me thinks is mostly saying
more going on. But either it's me or just whatever,
that's fine. But I just I just it's a thing
for me because I'm like, no, I would never turn
down if someone says, James and their RepU you could check.
I'm reputable even if you don't like my style. I'm

(06:18):
still reputable. Like I'm not some in the basement fly
by night operation. But it's for ten years. I have
a name. But I was saying, but if I didn't,
it was like, okay, well I understand that. But there's
some folks you asked me about the podcast, I'm like
you after I've readit them, yeah, only a few, but

(06:39):
anybody else, I'm like, sure, what do you wanna talk about?
I have no I love it and it's connection and
it's connecting and any eyes on your business is great.
I mean, you never know what opportunity may come your
direction just being on some pod for thirty minutes of
your life. And I just I just I just I've
never I just I don't understand. So that person can

(07:02):
solution me'll be quite honest, because I will be I'm
a little petty. I won't be asking her again, so
if she contacts me later at some point, we'll see
how I feel.

Speaker 1 (07:15):
But this is what I'm like. Man, we're good then, girl,
good luck.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
But I just think it's just it's I don't I
don't know, just thinking it's I mean, how do you
turn down opportunities and nothing about me? It's like, how
do you being this extra any set of eyes and
ears that hear your name and your business but also
answered email back then? That tells me you got the
email chose not to answer it until I basically hounded

(07:40):
you about it later. That's rude. Also, there's like this etiquette.
Of course, if you're busy, I'm busy, just say I'm busy. Hey, sorry,
I'm busy. Let's talk in a few months. I've had
that before. Okay, sounds great.

Speaker 1 (07:54):
I'm big.

Speaker 2 (07:55):
I'm big on antiquette. I think I just think they
just you should have etiquettes or pually in business. This
is business, not friends, not becoming friends. This is business.
So and again, you reached out to me first, so
I guess you were just collecting people, you know you,
It wasn't about you saw the pressure organizer and media.
You just you just want to do that, I guess.

(08:16):
So I said out, this is really interesting. I would
never know want to turn down. I was like, no, remote, promote, promote,
so about marketing and and and scheduling and everything. So
I've had wait lists. I have a hair wait list,
and that's and to me, that's fortunate. I have friends
who have no work, very little work. A lot of

(08:36):
times it's feasts or famine. So and I don't when
I have feast, I don't take it for granted at all.
I talk it out. But also I don't mind spreading
the love. And if I really can't get to it,
I have a whole bunch of folks that can pass
it on to you that I trust. In the business.
It's a little windy here today. There are a lot
of great folks in this business of coaching and organizing.

(08:59):
It's a lot of great folks and I love them.
So that's so I'm thinking at home, hopefully you guys
out there, who are you know doing your business? I mean,
just you know, be careful how you choose. If you're
gonna reach out to somebody, that connection could be anything,

(09:19):
because you're you're bringing it out there. So I'm thinking
you're being welcoming for stuff, or at least when you
reach out, have your intention known, just like I'm just
reaching out because I see you an organizer in the business,
or no thanks, I don't want to be on the show,
you know, That's why I would. I would be infraend
of about that. Either you just tell me no things.
So I'm not a person who does. I don't really
do podcasts. I have no problem with that. I still

(09:41):
think you should do them because I'm thinking, what's wrong
with you? But I but but I mean that's I
can I can not me having to hound you and
track you down answer an email. My customer side, I
didn't show. I did show on customer service. I'm doing
another one this week customer service. That's and that's in
between us colleagues customer services. So because a good concern
is so important, edique in all of that. Well, folks,
