Speaker 1 (00:11):
Hey, Hey, hey, everybody. Welcome to these Stylish Monitors network,
and happy October to everybody out there. It's been kind
of hot though we were living in California. I'm thinking
I was going to see some winter leaves falling, but hey,
only God knows. Hey, Well, today I want to talk
about my youngest son. Yes, the transitioning that I was

(00:32):
talking about in episode one last week. And so I
have been going through this battle with my youngest son.
He is in college here but he is now back
home and I was battling with my youngest son. This
battle was basically him exercising his rights to find himself

(00:53):
as a young man navigating through this world. But we
were bumping heads. I mean, I'm telling y'all, argument after argument,
giving him the wisdom when he asked me a question,
but he didn't really want the answer type stuff. And
so the lesson that I learned and what I noticed
was he was a mirror of my younger self. Oh

(01:16):
and I didn't like it one bit at all. Do
y'all hear me? But I had to go and prayer,
pray to God and try to approach things in a
different way, maybe till my mother's had a little bit
and try to see him and try to understand him
a little more. And so we are still navigating through

(01:39):
our relationship right now, but we do have an understanding.
And it's important for me to not only let him
see that I love him, but that I respect him.
And respect is very important for men, even young men.
And so I had to learn how to talk to

(02:01):
him but still be firm and still stand on certain
principles because there's things that he just doesn't see and
and that's okay, that will come with time growth, you know,
just time and growth. And I had to really step
back and sometimes exercise silence and that life do what

(02:22):
life does. And that's not easy for any parent, but
it is very necessary. I hope this little uh snippet
into my life and my children's life just some of
the things that we go through as mom as parent
can give you guys a little enlightenment and help you

(02:45):
navigate with your young adults as well. With that being said,
thank you for tuning in again. I am your host,
honey R. Jordan And until next time, folks, God bless

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
