Let's go ahead and bring in our co host for
tonight's show, longtime Atlanta sports fans, sports writer who's always

(02:00):
in and about Atlanta, Georgia, Georgia, Jordan Jackson. How are
you today?

Speaker 4 (02:07):
I'm going well, sir.

Speaker 5 (02:09):
As always, it's a pleasure to be on Sports Visits
ninety two point one around the atl talking to sports
with you guys. A lot of going on in Atlanta sports.
As always. With that being said, sir, let's get to it.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
So let's talk to Atlanta Falcons football briefly. We know
last week we got Leonard Floyd from Frisco Devine Diablo,
we brought back Mike Hughes among others that we resigned
brought back to the fold of the Falcons. Now recently
we've signed Morgan Fox d Liman from the Chargers, I
believe cornerback Keith Taylor whoa from Kansas City, Jordan. Do

(02:50):
either of these players move the meter at all? These
are recent signings, But what do you think about these
players that we've just gotten.

Speaker 5 (02:58):
Well, the guy that I like out of the recent
players that we signed, the guy who I think could
be a sleeper, is the aforementioned Morgan Fox, former San
Diego excuse me, Los Angeles Charger and also Los Angeles Ram.
And he has career twenty seven and a half sacks

(03:21):
from the interior playing the defensive tackle position. He only
had three and a half sacks last year, but the
previous year before that he had five and a half.
The year before that he had six and a half.
Back in twenty twenty he had six sacs. And the
fact that he also has played with the Rams, he's
probably kind of familiar with some of the things Raheem

(03:42):
Morris wants to do. Even though he did not play
for Raheem Morris, his last year with the Rams was
the year before Raheem took over his ram to his
defensive coordinator, but I do think he could be a
sleeper signing for us, a guy who could generate some
pressure from the interior. We think back to the days
of the great Rod Coleman who used to play for

(04:04):
the Falcons. Maybe could have something similar type of impact
as him.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
Any thoughts on Keith Taylor from Kansas City, the cornerback.

Speaker 5 (04:14):
Not a whole lot, more of a special teams type guy.
I don't really see him pushing to be one of
the top three corners on this ball club. We did
bring back Mike Hughes, who's probably going to be the
starter opposite of AJJ.

Speaker 4 (04:29):
Terrell.

Speaker 5 (04:30):
Again, it's possible if we get an upgrade at that
spot that we could push him to the inside, but
more than likely, if we draft a rookie, we probably
started the rookie off on the inside, even if it's
a guy who were grooming to eventually line up on
the other side of Ajterrell.

Speaker 3 (04:46):
And for those who are listening right now, we're going
to be having our next NFL draft show for the
Atlanta Falcons really soon, So to make sure you don't
miss now, you need to subscribe to the i int
and Worldwide Radio YouTube page. As you see, it's rolling
across the screen right there, so that way you can
catch it. So let's go ahead and talk to some
Atlanta Hawks. Atl Hawks. Now, when we were last on

(05:08):
the air, they were actually going through a little bit
of a win streak. But then after we got off
the air, all of a sudden, the buttons fell off again.

Speaker 4 (05:16):
Right.

Speaker 3 (05:17):
We lost a game to the Clippers one twenty one
to ninety eight. That was bad, and then we lost
to the Nets one twenty two to one fourteen. Now,
in that Clippers game, Trey had a really bad game,
seventeen point seven assists, but he was six of eighteen
from the floor, two of six from three at seven turnovers.

(05:37):
Dyson was two or twelve from the floor, O four
from three, and the Yang was zero to five from
the floor. But that next loss was even worse because
in that Nets loss, Trey had twenty eight points nine
to eighteen from the floor for fifty percent, three or
six from three, twelve assists, six boards, two steals. Ben
zach Our, rookie who should be Rookie of the Year,

(05:59):
was out only to play twenty two minutes and had
sixteen points on seven to thirteen shooting. Mog had two points.

Speaker 4 (06:06):
Again.

Speaker 3 (06:07):
Okongo had a great game twenty one and fifteen dison
at fourteen point seven dimes, four steals in the block. However,
both Man and the Yang did not play well. He
was five to twelve from the floor in the Yang
four or fourteen. They were allowed to play twenty five
and twenty six minutes respectively to shoot badly as Zach

(06:27):
again only played five minutes in the fourth quarter had
one field goal attempt. We really watched that happen. Both
Man and the Yang went one of four in the
fourth quarter combined, well, actually as one of eight. Well
is at two of eight right, So when we lost
that game, bout eight points. So make this make sense, Jordan.
Why did we lose this next game like we did

(06:50):
where we only gave up ten fast break points and
forty eight points in the pink?

Speaker 4 (06:54):
What happened?

Speaker 5 (06:57):
Well, first of all, you listened to Sports Visits ninety
two point one FM around the ATM Thank y'all for
joining your folks. I think the main reason why we
lost that ball game Christmas defense at the three point line.
We did not do a good job at all at
defending the three point line in that game. In fact,
we allowed the Nets to knock down seventeen out of

(07:18):
thirty five threes, which is forty eight point six percent.
And that's really what hurt the team, because, like you said,
we got good production across the board. Now, another factor
in that game that hurt us is Georgia's nang. It's
all from three point range, only making two of nine
threes four fourteen shots overall, and in fact, he missed

(07:40):
you know, quite a few shots in the crunch time
of that game, you know, late in the second half,
and Tray kept hitting him with open shots, but he
just couldn't deliver. Terrence Mann also was unusually quiet that game.
You know, it didn't play terrible, but five out of
twelve is not up to the standards of the percentages
that he's been shooting when he's played well.

Speaker 4 (08:00):
For uced, he was oh out of three on his threes.

Speaker 5 (08:03):
So lack of bench production as well as bad three
point defense and missing Karris LeVert as well, where I
think the main corporates and US not beating the Brooklyn Nets.

Speaker 4 (08:15):
But you're right, that was a tough loss for.

Speaker 3 (08:17):
Sure, and again we're talking about the depth, and we
saw the tweet from Jalen Johnson talking about he just
wants the ball, but he can of course because he's hurt.
He's out for the season. But how close we really
would be if Jalen was playing all these games To
add to what we do have right now, the season
will be completely different. One thing I want to do though,

(08:39):
real quick, I want to remind people that Trey Young,
go ahead, Jordan, go ahead, Jordan.

Speaker 5 (08:47):
I was just gonna say that, you know, it's not
all doom and gloom though, because the Hawks did bounce.

Speaker 4 (08:53):
Back in the following game and defeat the.

Speaker 5 (08:55):
Charlotte Hornets one to one oh two, which is the
big biggest margin of victory on the season. Trey Young
had thirty one points eight assists in the ball game,
Dyson Daniels twenty two points, seven rebounds, seven assists, zachar
Riishasha twenty one points, eight rebounds, five of nine from
three point range on Yaka Kongoo fifteen points and ten rebounds.

(09:20):
And one thing I thought was very special about that game.
You had three players on Yaka Konghoo, Dyson Daniels and
Trey Young all get three steals a piece.

Speaker 4 (09:31):
Also in Yaka Kongo tied his.

Speaker 5 (09:33):
Career high with three may three pointers in that ball game,
knocking down three of six tries from beyond the Yorkers.

Speaker 3 (09:40):
Trey Young is the best point guard in Hawk's history,
hands down, not contestable. Right, He's one of the best
in NBA history. I don't have to prove that the
NBA can prove that for you, But just in case
you doubt that, there's a new episode on Around the
ATL on the IMT and Worldwide Radio YouTube channel, go
and watch that talking about Hawk's legacy. There's also a

(10:02):
game review in there, Pistons versus Hawks, where I discussed
the fact that we lost that second game right out
the All Star Break by five points, giving up one
hundred and forty eight points in that game, but we
left thirty two points on the board from miss shots
generated from Trey Young. Thirty two points. Trey Young had
fifteen points and five assists in the fourth quarter. The

(10:23):
Hawks gave up twenty four fast break points, sixty eight
points in the paint, and twenty three pointers. Yet Trey
is blamed for that game, right, So I want people
to keep thinking about these things that they put out
there sometimes and really think about that Hawk's legacy and
where we stand, but where we can go. As Jordan said,
you know, trying to be positive. We could be a

(10:45):
really good team, but as a team effort all the
way through, we just got to keep it going. Go ahead, Jordan,
real quick tray Young Trey Young.

Speaker 5 (10:55):
With that win, O was, Charlotte tied Lebron James for
the eighth most games in NBA history with thirty plus
points and five plus three pointers made. So that just
goes into becks of what you're saying talk about trade being.

Speaker 4 (11:09):
One of the best in history.

Speaker 5 (11:11):
Also quick note, Zachary Rishischet has the third most games
by a teenager in NBA history with twenty plus points
and five plus three pointers.

Speaker 4 (11:21):
Made, so shout out to him for that.

Speaker 5 (11:24):
And just to say, the Hawks are looking pretty pretty
good for being in the seven or the eighth spot
and not having to win two games to get into
the playoffs. They now currently have a three and a
half game lead over the ninth place team, but they're
just up one game over eight place Orlando, and it'd

(11:44):
be nice to get that playing game head home. So
you want to try to hold onto that seventh spot.
I know you, you know you still think we can
probably get to six.

Speaker 4 (11:54):
I still have my doubts.

Speaker 5 (11:55):
Five games back with thirty twelve or thirteen games left
to play to be quite a dawning task. We've only
made up one game against Detroit over the last ten games.

Speaker 3 (12:06):
Last two losses definitely put a dent in that, but
I'm still holding out just in case before we go
to a break. Trey Young has passed Kyrie Irving, Ray Allen, Spudweb,
Tim Duncan, Giannis, Dennis Schroeder, Grant Hill, Charles Barkley, t
Matt and assists all time. By the end of this season,

(12:27):
he could pass Jay Crossover, Jamal Crawford, Jeff t Jason Williams,
Joe Dumars, Wilt Chamberlain, Paul Pierce, Vince Carter, DeRozan outside
shot to pass Draymond Green, Kevin Durant, and Mark Price.
In year eight, he will pass Doc Rivers, Iso, Joe,
Nate McMillan, Walt Fraser, Kenny Anderson, the Joker who's still playing,

(12:49):
cal Merlow, Jason Terry, Allen, Iverson, Michael Jordan, Kareem Up
Kareem Up, Jujabbar, Larry Bird, and Dwayne Wade. Now are
all those players terrible? Are they bums?

Speaker 4 (13:00):
Are they bad?

Speaker 3 (13:01):
Because if you keep saying that Trail Young is terrible,
you gotta say all those players are terrible too, right right?
The whole Famous George. Ain't that strange? But anyway, make
sure you go and check out the episode that I
just posted on the Around the ATL on the IMT
and Worldwide Radio YouTube page. As we take a break,
we're gonna come back and talk some college basketball in Georgia.

(13:24):
There's a lot of tournament stuff going on, so we
get excited about that this year, as well as Atlanta
United and Skyhawks and a whole bunch more. So, don't
go anywhere. As we come back on Sports Visions ninety
two to one FM, this is Around the atl Don't
go anywhere, y'all.

Speaker 2 (13:42):
You're listening to Around the ATL with Chris and Jordan.
Will be right back with more Atlanta sports talk.

Speaker 3 (14:05):
And that is the quickest break of all time, right there, folks,
As we come back to you on Around the ATL
on Sports Visions ninety two to ONEFL, myself and my
co host Jordan Jackson. As we get ready to go
into our next segment, So, as I mentioned, we have
some college basketball to speak of, Jordan, go ahead and
get us started with college basketball in the Atlanta market.

Speaker 5 (14:29):
Yes, sir, well, there's not a whole lot of Atlanta
college basketball teams left playing.

Speaker 4 (14:36):
Georgia Tech. They did beat UVA in the.

Speaker 5 (14:40):
ACC Tournament sixty six to sixty but then they were
eliminated in that tournament in the court of the finals
seventy to seventy eight against Duke. That put them in
the n T Tournament, in which they did get bounced
in the first round of NIT losing sixty four to
eighty one to Jacksonville State, and that gave them a

(15:01):
seventeen and seventeen record on the season.

Speaker 4 (15:05):
Now, also in the state of Georgia.

Speaker 5 (15:07):
Division two, you had Savannah State News in the first round,
they were in the eight seed the Division two n
C Double A Tournament. They lost to number one seed
Nova Southeastern sixty four to seventy six. Also, number four
seed Valdosta State was also eliminated in the first round

(15:27):
seventy four to eighty six.

Speaker 4 (15:32):
You had number six Augusta.

Speaker 5 (15:34):
Seventy nine lost a three seed Leonor Ryan who had
ninety four points, so was not a great start for
Georgia teams in these n CUBA tournaments. We did have
a few teams fair a little bit better. Well, one
team fair better to start off with. In Division three.

(15:57):
You had Buried College beat Gifford eighty to seventy seven,
and Barry was led by Braxton Benham who had twenty
four point six boards and ten assists and now King
who had fourteen points and seven rebounds.

Speaker 3 (16:12):
For the University of Georgia. Despite getting knocked out the
SEC tournament, they did make the NCUBA Tournament. They are
in the Midwest bracket and they're going to play Gonzaga
to start. They do have Tennessee and Kentucky in their
bracket as well though, as well as the number one
seed Houston, so they're in a real tough bracket. But

(16:33):
you never know they're in the tournament. You never know
whose button's are gonna get pushed pushed. Everybody has to
play equally to win, so you never know what can
happen there. Plumba SA University, let's talk to him, go ahead.

Speaker 4 (16:45):
Jordan real quick, also also real quick.

Speaker 5 (16:52):
We did have one Atlanta area college play well in
Division three, and that's Emory University.

Speaker 4 (16:59):
They defeated Huntington eighty three to sixty eight.

Speaker 5 (17:02):
In their first Division three tournament game, led by j
Air Knights eighteen points and A. J. Harris seventeen point
seven boards, as well as well as Logan Shanahan who
had twelve point seven boards five assists. Then, in the
next round, they knocked off Barry, another Georgia school, eighty

(17:23):
four to sixty eight, led by Logan Shanahan's twenty two
point sixteen rebounds and Ben Pierce's twenty two points and
five assists.

Speaker 4 (17:31):
They played on and placed.

Speaker 5 (17:33):
Mary Washington and also beat them eighty to seventy eight,
led by Ben Pierce with twenty seven points five boards
and Jay Knight also had twenty seven points and nine boards,
and those two gentlemen combined to make ten of seventeen
of their three point shots. Logan Shanahan also chipped in

(17:55):
fourteen points.

Speaker 4 (17:56):
Eight rebounds and five assists.

Speaker 5 (17:58):
Now, unfortunately for Emory, run did come to an end
in the quarterfinals.

Speaker 4 (18:03):
Falling fifty eight to sixty one against.

Speaker 3 (18:06):
Wesley Plumba State University. The chase for the Division two
championship ended for the men's team. After a tremendous season
They opened the tournament, though with a win. It was
a nail botter seventy five to seventy four against Carson Newman.
Jared Adderton had twenty two points, Jelanni James had sixteen,
Mitchell Jordan had sixteen off the bench. But then in

(18:27):
the round of thirty two they did not have enough.
They lost to unc Pembrook ninety one eighty Jared Adderton
again led the team with twenty six Jelanie James had nineteen,
Roman Son had sixteen points. They in the year twenty
seven and five. Great record, but yeah, I know they're disappointed,
but you can't take away from the successful season that
they did have for the ladies almost kind of like

(18:50):
a mirror image their season also unfortunately came to it
in the tournament. They opened their season's tournament tournament with
a victory over Francis Marry eighty nine eighty three. Olana
Rawls had thirty points and brie Lynn Snipes had twenty
three points. But again the a round of thirty two,
University of North Georgia eliminated them sixty for to fifty six.

(19:13):
This time Breeland Snipes had twenty five points and Alana
Rawls had chipped in with eleven. They finished their season
twenty one and nine, so it's obvious that both teams
can compete in the conference and this should hopefully lead
some more players coming to Columbus State from different areas
of Georgia. Y'all be sure to support them next year
at the Franklin G. Lunkin Center at Columbus State University.

(19:36):
Let's talk a little bit of volleyball. Atlanta Vibe doing
their thing again, got a little win Street going again.
Quick announcement though, in a very near future, we're going
to have last year's MVP of the Pro Pro Volleyball Federation,
Leah Edmund, on around the atl She will be on
the show talking volleyball in the City of Atlanta, college volleyball,

(19:58):
everything that you want to talk about in regards to
the Pro Volleyball Federation. So again, you gotta be watching
and subscribing to the IMT and Worldwide Radio YouTube page
and listen each week on Sports Vision's ninety two to
one FM to be able to do that. You got
something real quick, Jordan.

Speaker 4 (20:14):
Yeah, sir, quick.

Speaker 5 (20:15):
Note that Georgia Tech women did make NCAA tournament their
nine seed. They're gonna face number eight Richmond tomorrow and
the winner will get a chance to face number one
seed UCLA.

Speaker 3 (20:27):
Excellent. Oh wow, okay, we got hey, y'all tune in now,
don't don't, don't not support our teams here in Georgia
right the vibe. They've continued their win streak. They beat
the Grand Rapids Rise three to one and then San
Diego Mojo three to two at Gas South Arena. They're
in Atlanta. Their first match was where we had Merit

(20:48):
Beaston led the team with seventeen points and four blocks.
Morgan Hints had twenty eight digs and four assists. Leah
Edmund had seventeen points and two aces in that match.
In the second match win, Pia Timer had nineteen points,
Lea Edmon had sixteen points, two blocks and thirteen digs,
and Morgan Hints again had eighteen digs. They are now

(21:09):
ten and eight, six and three at home and in
third place now, so they've come back really good. If
you still have not been to a match March twenty eighth,
we'll give you a chance. They'll be playing at the
Georgia State Convocation Center at seven pm, so make sure
you buy your tickets. Now real brief. The Atlanta Gladiators,
another hockey team in Georgia. They lost their recent game

(21:33):
at Gas South Arena to South Carolina Steam Rays six
to three. Shots were pretty much even, thirty one shots
for twenty nine shots, but they just couldn't get the
puck and the goal. Carson Denomi had two goals. Then
they went to South Carolina on the road to play
them again and they got beat again three to one.
Right now, they're struggling. They're in tenth place, twenty six

(21:53):
and twenty eight record. There are two games in the
lost colum for eighth place. Hopefully they can get some
kind of a win street going soon and come back
a little bit. Let's go to Atlanta United Jordan. What
is going on with our soccer team, sir.

Speaker 4 (22:10):
Well.

Speaker 5 (22:10):
Unfortunately, Atlanta United fell to arrival into Miami won to two.
That was a rematch of last year's playoff series in
which Atlanta United eliminated Miami. Latte had the long goal
for Atlanta. Lionel Messi, a guy who is widely argued

(22:34):
to be the greatest soccer player of all time, basically
the Gold debates between him and Payley, also added the goal.

Speaker 4 (22:41):
Scored one of the two goals for Inter Miami shot
some goal.

Speaker 5 (22:45):
Atlanta four, Inter Miami eight, and the loss dropped Atlanta's
record to one win, two losses and one drawser.

Speaker 3 (22:55):
Still early in the season, and I just wish they
could have beat him again. I just you know, it's
the rivalry. We can have a little bit of a
robbery out there. Finally with some of the players Atlanta
United has brought in, like Latte and whatnot. Let's speak
on the College Park Skyhawks. Anything new happening with those guys.
They're in College Park, Jordan.

Speaker 5 (23:16):
Yes, sir, you're listening to Sports Visits, not the two
point one FM around the atl The Skyhawks this past week, unfortunately,
did not have a good week like they had last week.
They lost the second matchup against the Delaware blue Coats
one twenty six. Skyhawks was led by Keivon Harris with

(23:38):
twenty four points, seven rebound, six assists and Jacob Topping with.

Speaker 4 (23:42):
Twenty one point fourteen boards.

Speaker 5 (23:44):
Nicola Durasich also added sixteen points and four assists, and
then they lost their first game of a two games
set against the Capitol City go Go eighty nine to
one to twelve George kelle joiner twenty one points, four rebounds,
four assists off the bench, Lid Atlanta and diyckk One.

(24:04):
Plowden also chipped in eighteen points and five rebounds, but
made only two of his nine three point attempts. College
part sky Hawks are now fifteen and thirteen and they've
dropped from sixth to the East to eight.

Speaker 3 (24:19):
Chris oh Man, they got a little bit catching up
to do there before the end of the season, which
is right around the corner now obviously Columbus Storm. Now
you know last week they did not do that well,
but coach Brad has got them back on track with
a twenty eight nothing win against the murphys Boro tar Hills.
They are now three and one on the season. A

(24:39):
couple of players that made the mark. Trey Crittinton, number
eighteen on the team. He had a rushing and receiving
touchdown for two touchdowns total. Travis Jones, number five on
the team, had four tackles, one assisted tackle, two tackles
for a loss and a pit six. He was doing
this thing out there on special teams. He had Slaton
Graham number twelve have forty four yards in punt returns.

(25:00):
The next game is going to be March twenty second
on the road, as they traveled to Well. I gotta
say it's sticky town, New Orleans to play the Crescent Kings.
And their next home game will be at Garrett Harrison
Stadium April fifth against the Panama City Panthers, So please
make sure you support as we almost get ready to
close out. Got two more teams to talk about in

(25:20):
Columbus the Columbus River Dragons. They're on another two game
win streak and in this case the home and home
against the Monroe Moccasons. Their first game, they won sixty
three as Justin McDonald had four assists in that one.
Ryan Hunter had three goals. They really won big on
Legends Night that was real fun where former Columbus Countin

(25:43):
Mouse and former River Dragons players were in attendance. They
won five to one. Matt Pizzion had thirty four saves
only gave up one goal, and Austin they had one
goal and two assists. They are currently third in the
conference at twenty three and twelve, and playoff hockey is
getting getting close, y'all, so make sure to visit the
Columbus River Dragon's website and get your tickets right now, Jordan,

(26:07):
any more points before I finish up with the Columbus Lions.

Speaker 5 (26:11):
Briefly, Yeah, sir, one woman's quick woman's score that I
forgot to mention. Pemont University fell in the Division three
playoffs thirty one to fifty two against Randolph making that's
not making Georgia, y'all. Also shout out to the Atlanta
Drive Golf Club of the TGL. They advanced to the

(26:35):
finals of the first annual TGL season by defeating the
Bay Area ninety three. Atlanta was the third seed, bay
Area was the second seed, and the.

Speaker 4 (26:48):
Number four seed New York upset.

Speaker 5 (26:50):
The number one seed in La So Atlanta will face
the number four seed New York on Monday for a
