(00:03):
This is a bramble Jam podcast,Basin, and you got a custom base

(00:31):
side of the Born. If youwere a bramble Jam Plus, remember you
wouldn't have to hear that. Ididn't. They would Oh no, not
cutting that out. Never mind gold. We only cut out ats for Plus,
not the God. Just bad content. They have to deal with the
bad. They have to deal it. That's that's interesting. Surprisingly, that's
what some of them sign up for. It's the bad content content. Never

(00:54):
see it coming. Hey Dan,Hey Brandon, Hey know, Oh it's
good man. How are you youknow, just chewing some sour? I
yes, we are just I justfor the first time had Razzles. Now
I know Razzles because of thirteen goingon thirty. Do you remember that movie?
I remember that movie? Yes,Mark Ruffo j Yeah. They have

(01:14):
a whole bit about Razzles. Theyeat Razzles as a kid, and then
they they have him again as adultsare sour. Razzles. First it's candy,
then it's gum. That's uh.It's Mark Rufflo's best work, if
you ask me, Mark Ruffo's bestwork. No, gosh, I love
Mark Rufflo though I love him andeverything he's He's good in a bunch of
stuff. His best work was whatwas that movie that came out a couple

(01:36):
of years ago. He's a dadand he's got some missies. It's a
good movie. Foxcatcherd Fox Catcher.I think he's in a Zodiac and that's
truly. I never saw that. And U Prisoners, I think Prisoners is
great. In Prisoners, I don'tknow if he's in Prisoners. He he
he, Uh, he's in Um, he's in the movie about the Boss

(01:56):
the Globe. Oh yeah, Spotlight, Spotlight. He's in spot He's like,
what's this movie? It was anIndia a couple years ago. He's
his dad and I think he might, um, he has some sort of
disorder. Um, it might bebipolar. But I don't want to speak
out a turn. It's a reallygreat movie. He does a great,
great well. Zodiac is my favoritemovie that he's in. I think I
can what about you guys out there? What's everyone shout at once? What's

(02:17):
your favorite about Ruffaloe's great? Great, it's great. I like that movie
a lot. I like I'm asucker for like the you know, the
rom the rom coms of that indieyou were talking about is uh now you

(02:37):
see me. That is what wecall not his best work, but that's
that's not on him infinitely. PolarBear is what we're looking at. Yes,
great movie. Um god, nowyou see me? So bad?
They made it twice, Yeah, and they just said the first one is
a master pins compared to the secondone. And they said, hey,

(03:00):
you know the girl, listen, she's not and board, just get another
one, get another one. Gosh, man, now you see me?
Now you don't. The first timeI saw it, now you see me,
though, I freaking loved it.Was like, this is one of
the first movies ever saw, themovie Pass. Yeah, and you're like,
it's like free, free, magicmovie. Yeah. Do you remember,

(03:23):
Like this is important to know forpeople out there with we haven't even
mentioned SUD yet everyone knows Movie passedfor nine nine unlimited movie. Yes,
we were with Movie Pass the baywith the Beta Boys for so they called
us the Beta boys because you know, and and you know, you see,
you see what you have to do. You had to see three three

(03:44):
movies, three movies to break even. When we were seeing three a week
a problem. None of us hadkids. He was going to the movies.
We were all out summer, Christmas, every day we're the movies.
I eventually cut it out of mybudget. Had to, you know,
trim trim, So I trimmed thatand then it comes back as nine and
I'm like, surely this is anerror. I remember seeing the press release

(04:08):
and I sent it to you andyou're like, this, it can't be
real. I chatted this is rightwhen the news had just gotten out.
I chatted with someone on their websitebefore they got rid of the chat because
their service was so bad, andthey were like, yeah, this is
true. And I remember chatting andI was like, how are you possibly
going to make money? And thechat person said, oh, trust us,
we're not worried about it. SoI wish passes that. We still

(04:32):
like, we still don't. Wedon't know how they were planning on making
money, Like there were rumors floatingaround that it was like if they have
this many people subscribing, then theycan control the market and say, oh,
we'll only go to these theaters andwe'll charge a premiumto the theaters.
The theaters are already stretched. Yes, they made it. They made a
couple of mistakes. One they thoughtthat people would view sitting and eating popcorn

(04:57):
the same way that they view thegym while though they don't. People are
going to go if it's if,if it's that's right, I'm gonna go
see it. It's cheaper, Yes, it was cheaper to get movie pass.
Yeah, then to go to themovies. But it just a movie
tickets twelve dollars. Yeah, we'llgive you unlimited movies for ten for lesson.
How are you gonna make money? You'll see, You'll see they've banked

(05:18):
on a lot of people not usingthe product once a month, not how
I understood it. There was alot of different ways, but they did.
They did have that mindset. Yeah, thirty forty dollars a month.
Play worked for that reason. Yes, it because people are like, oh,
I'll see more movies and they justsaw two a month and they were
making money. But their original thingwas if they get a couple of million

(05:38):
subscribers, then they could look atAMC and say you have to give us
ten cents on every ticket that yousell or not. If not, we're
not gonna let people use movie Passat AMC. Yeah, they thought they
could become a big swings. It'snot a it's not a bad play,
but it's a bad play because youjust have to wait them out, right,

(06:00):
Yeah, if you're AMC, youwait them out like it's not sustainable.
That's what I think they They thoughtthey were fooling people ten dollars a
month, ridiculous and ruined it forme because I love the service. But
now we got Regals. What's farbetter than AMC, way better. But
we do you have any Regal theatersbecause they're not open. You want to
talk about say the best O?Sorry everyone, Save by the Bell.

(06:25):
Season one, episode eight of thereboot. It is the cap the Todd
Capsule. Um. It originally inNovember twenty fifth, twenty twenty on Peacock
and it's time for a first segment. Hey, hey, what is going
on here? Hey? What isgoing on here? It's an episode that
I think a lot of people havebeen waiting for. Homecoming. The gang
is finally back together. Um.The episode kicks off at the beginning of

(06:50):
the episode with everybody at the Max. The episode kicks off at the beginning.
At the beginning, I don't needit from you. They're at the
Max. They're celebrating the fact thatthe football team finally beat Valley. Here's
my thing though maybe I was.But when did the football team turn the
corner on being good? We gotone episode where they almost want to get

(07:13):
yes, and now they're beating Valley, which they haven't done in years since
since since Slater's been like something tookroot there something from four episodes, um.
And so Slater's getting ready. He'smaking this big speech about how much
this means to him, and he'sinterrupted and at the very the best highest
part of the speech by Zach andKelly obviously derails everything because Zach and Kelly

(07:39):
are back Governor Morris. That's exactlyright. Um. They get together and
they're sitting at a booth, nottheir normal booth, but a booth adjacent.
Um. They're talking, they're catchingup a little bit, and they
realize things are a little bit different. Jesse's there playing. That's exactly right.

(08:01):
Um. You know, Zach,Governor, uh, you know there,
there's just some it feels a littledifferent, right, And so you
you cut, you cut to thebedroom of of Zack and Kelly. Nothing's
weird, just happening there. Everybodyas a booth board, um, and
they're talking about how it just wasn'tfun, Like there's something that just wasn't
fun. The other people that Jesseand Slater just cared about themselves. Why

(08:24):
didn't they want to hear about thethings we had to talk about. They
only cared about the fact that shewas a doctor and he was working on
his body, working out. That'sall they care about. So, um,
it's the night of the big homecomingdance. I guess yeah, I
get some sort of get together. There's a lot of alumni gonna be in
attuning. Council has to figure outhow to like work all of it.
Yes, yeah, so um,they they're showing up because you know it's

(08:48):
uh, they're they're the governor. But also there's some alumni in attendance and
uh. Before leaving, Zach hasa conversation with Mac, telling him,
Hey, I can't wait to seeprank. Yeah, prank, prankcoming prank.
It's gonna be great. And Maxseems to being a little bit of
of a you know, you can'tfigure out what to do. He feels
a lot of pressure. You geta similar scene that Zach had with his

(09:09):
father where Zach takes the call thephone call instead of listening to his son.
That happens, and so there's awhole thing going on there, that's
exactly right. Um. And he'slike, hey, what if I didn't
throw a brank because everyone's expecting aprank And then Zack just laughs and he's
like, you got this yeah.Um. So he's feeling a lot of
pressure, especially with his dad beingin attendance. Fellow fellow prank king,

(09:33):
frank king, what was he gonnado? So Um? They had to
the homecoming and they're once again sittingat a table together. Zach and Kelly
start talking about the fact that Kellyis a doctor of optimism. Yeah.
Jesse has a big problem with that, seeing is how she actually is a
doctor, she got her PhD.She's like trying to hammer him the fact

(09:56):
that it takes a lot of hardwork. You can't just call yoursel self
a doctor. Um. And souh, they end up Toddman is very
excited about the gang getting back together, keeps talking about the alumni pick.
Yes, yeah, you don't knowwhy he's so excited, but he's very
excited. He shows up and he'strying to talk to Zach. Zach leaves
and tries to talk to Kelly.Kelly leaves. Ye. They go outside,

(10:20):
Um, Slater and Jesse are thentalking like about how terrible Zac,
about how terrible they are, andhow dare they how dare she call herself
a doctor, bl blah blah blah, and they like they want to go
back to how things used to be, and they remember the time time caps
the time cap a bunch of stuffin the time capsule, years and years
ago, over over twenty five yearsago, and they want to go and

(10:43):
they dig it up, dig upthe time capsule, and they go to
building's old office, Toddman's office,to open all the things up, and
there's some callbacks at that point. You got the got the buddy bands,
you got caffeine pills. We foundout that Jesse's twenty nine years caffeine sober
years. Maybe I don't remember whatI think it was. It was a
long time of being caffeine sober.Congratulations, And you know, they're doing

(11:07):
stuff and Slater ends up opening thisbox, says it's from Zach two sets
friends, opens it up, greenslime in the face everywhere. Slater's very
upset about this. Todman comes inand we find out he's very He's upset
that they didn't include him in thishe's yeah, why would they include him

(11:28):
in this? He was a studentat Bayside, He had been with them
the whole time. There's a montageof clips of him being digitally imposed into
some big moments in the gang's life, including Zack and Kelly's marriage. Slater's
been working there, Jesse's been workingthere. No one remembers Toddman for any

(11:48):
reason. He did this whole thingfor them to get back the gang,
to get back together, and theydon't even remember him, and he's really
really upset about it. Yes,um, so you might be wondering what's
going on with the yea of thisshow, of this show, um Lexi
and uh Daisy are working together tofundraise right, you know the school,

(12:09):
I guess some of them so forthe parents to use money for the school
or whatever. And uh Lexi findsout the Daisy's really you can raise a
lot of money if you're just makingpeople feel bad, feel bad about being
rich. Um. So they havethat going on. You have Davante who
is into this girl named Nadia. They're working on the food service and and

(12:31):
she's trying to ask her out.And we find out that Devanta is just
not smooth at all. It's notvery very nervous, very nervous about him.
Yeah. And then you have Macwho is trying to figure out the
prank, and he goes to Dantefor some advice and DeVante points out like,
I want I don't have time forthis, so I'm just gonna tell
you daddy issues that's right, Andhe's like, whatever, I don't believe

(12:56):
you. And also he takes thisthing of gravy and leaves um Aisha and
um um Uh Jesse's son Jamie Jamieum are doing anything doing Valet. We
don't ever see them until the endof the Yether. That's right, They're

(13:16):
so no more of them. Um. We cut back to the core.
They're feeling very bad about, youknow, the fact that they didn't include
Toddman and they don't remember todd Men'sright and um. So they decide they're
gonna show up and sing the FriendsForever songs, right um from Zach attacks
and uh and and for the forthe group pictures instruments, they sing some

(13:39):
of the song tom AND's like, what are you doing? Zach remembers this
is just a song from his dream, didn't really have Meanwhile, Mac has
planned on having a giant thing ofgravy drop on his dad's head during the
class reunion picture, and he thinksthis is gonna bring him and his dad
closer together, and it's gonna bethe best prank ever. And he's off

(14:01):
to the side trying to push thebutton to make that gravy thing dump on
his dad. When they realize thatthey realized Todman's not in the pictures,
come on, get in here,so he takes the place of where Zach
is and just as the pictures aboutto take, the gravy falls on Tom
Todman. Do you think Tomman's gonnabe a saster? No? No,

(14:22):
He's very excited about being included. He thinks this is all prank. When
they've known the whole time, thewhole fifteen years, and they just waited
for this moment. That's exactly right, that's right, fifteen years that he's
been working there. You should say, um, and so big funny.
Uh love it. Toddman's happy, everybody's happy. Um. Zach goes to

(14:43):
talk to Mac, tells him greatprank. That was fun. Uh,
And Mac finally gains the courage andsay, hey, Dad, I want
to maybe we could spend time.Maybe we can spend time together. They
do this long to think about catchbut Um and Zach says, absolutely,
let's do that. The The episodeends with the new cast back together.

(15:03):
They're looking at the homecoming thing beinglike, job well done, valley was
great. Uh, the food wasgreat. We raised all the money,
we reached our fundraising Yes, andremember um. A couple of weeks ago,
the mom of Tanner's mom is thereand Tanner's mom announces they are gonna

(15:24):
use the fundraising money to open backup Douglas High School, which means the
gang would be broken up again. That's the cliffhanger episode, and that is
the Toddman caps. Odd caps We'regonna take one break, one break,
two times, one break times tothe break. We'll be right back here.

(15:46):
I'm back to base. Yeah.I remember walking out of the theater
of Spotlight and just being so sad. Ye's a great movie, but it's
tim You don't tell you one timer, And it's one of those movies where

(16:07):
you're into theater and you're just like, boy, yeah, we're doing this
right now. Yeah, it's ahefty movie, great in it though,
uff unreal. Well you weren't kiddingabout these line boys. Oh my gosh,
they're so bad. I mean,and you know, Hulk, he's
fine. It's just like whatever. You know, he's fine as home.
I think Hulk's arc in the Avengersis terrible. They don't do anything.

(16:30):
Yeah, he's just mad and lee. He's mad and leaves and he comes
back. He's smart, like hewears his glasses, which is fine.
Yeah. Great, Hulks not agreat. Hook's overrated? Yeah, way
overrated? What a great? Isaid it? Hi, Um do we
have other segments? We do?It's not for the next segment. It's

(16:56):
that after a lunch curse. I'mtelling you, that's what it is.
Once, you know, once Istart thinking about Ruffalo, it's hard for
me to move on. Yeah,I'm so excited. I'm so scared.
As a part of the show,we talk about whether or not we love
this episode. Excited us, scared, us, didn't like it? Dan
excited or scared? How could younot be excited it? Weirdly enough,

(17:17):
it's probably like the worst episode qualitativelyof the show. The new group of
actors are just not really involved. It's pure nostalgia. It doesn't do much
from a standpoint of all the groundworkwe've made on these characters. Having said
that, as a thirty seven yearold male who grew up watching Zach and

(17:38):
Kelly, I gotta be honest.I had a goofy, goofy grin on
my face from start to finish.Couldn't help but smile. We didn't even
mention in the first segment that Lisadoes FaceTime in so Lark Vorhees gets a
scene. She's really good. Igot to see the gang back together.
There's some really funny jokes. There'sa freeze freme it that I really thought

(18:00):
worked. Um, there's some funjust making fun of themselves bits. It's
qualitatively the least the worst episode.Still had a good time, just what
I came for. Nostalgia wise hitme and all the feels so excited brand
there's no other way to describe it. I have mixed feelings about this episode.

(18:21):
Yeah, um, I didn't thinkthey stuck the landing on the gang
being back together. UM. Ifelt there was a disconnect between how I
believe Zach and Kelly would be asadults. It felt if they didn't feel
true to Zach and Kelly. Um. Now, maybe Kelly a little bit

(18:47):
more. But Zach, I justfelt like it was trying to be like
Max's character and it just didn't quitemark Paul feel authentic. Specifically said on
his podcast which we will not name, that he had forgotten how to play
the character. Like he said thaton the podcast, and he said that
Dashell and some other people that hadwatched it pretty much had to go through

(19:10):
and tell him this is how youwould say these lungs. So like he
does seem completely lost, like hedoesn't feel like Zach Morris anymore. I
felt like, you know, Slaterand Jesse slid right back into their characters,
and I felt like, you know, where Jesse's at is where Jesse
would be at, and Slater's exactlyYeah, those Slater's a little bit dumber,

(19:30):
I guess maybe, but it's notsurprising. He became a pe teacher
and hasn't really done anything with hislife because he was so wrapped up and
you know, being the athletic guyand all that stuff. Zach, it
just didn't it didn't quite work forme. The Dynamics obviously love seeing him
back together. I mean, Iyou know, I know this was an
episode, the episode that they hadto do. I believe Zack and Kelly

(19:55):
are in both of the next twoepisodes to wrap up the season, but
just in a smaller capacity. Um. So, I think it's an episode
they had to do. Uh.It's not my favorite of the season.
I'm happy that they were back together. I missed a new cast like I
I wish, I wish that wegot more of them. I usual and
Jamie just just m I A.And that's unfortunate. Us. I was

(20:18):
what I said, you'd stand by. It's the worst qualitatively yea of the
series. Yeah, but I stilllove seeing a game back together. How
could you not know? Of course? Of course, I think my problem
with having the game back together isit didn't feel like the gang was back
together. It felt like, youknow, I see them, just feel
like I see them, but Idon't feel them. Three Zach just didn't
feel exact. Yeah. Yeah. And then I feel like they've put this

(20:40):
makeup on his face. Yeah, because he's not had a lot of work
done like Mark Paul Gossler has beenin TV for years. He doesn't look
like that. Yeah. So Idon't. I don't know what the deal
is there, and I you know, I'm not as upset about Kelly because
like Kelly really like it's not likeit's not like she has a lot of
substance in the original anyways. Butit's just I don't know, it just
didn't quite gel for me. Um. And so that's where rated episode.

(21:04):
It's the number one user rating.Yes, yeah, well, I mean
whatever, Uh, it's it's goodand I'm happy that they did it and
I'm happy that they're back. Um, I don't know, that's just where
I'm at. That's where it's kindof like like a mat to me.
Uh, Like it didn't quite listthe whole time the original Gang was on
screen, but I wanted more ofthe original cast. That's where or the
new cast I got you. Yep, than that's one. I mean,

(21:26):
yep. It's time for the nextsement. Time out. Time out of
the part of the show where wetalk about the things that maybe didn't make
sense or made us laugh or whateverthat made us while watching this episode.
Say time out. Yeah. AcSlater coaches football in jeans. He coaches
football in jeans. No, youcan't, you can't. You can't do
that. It's just not allowed. All the players are still in their uniforms.

(21:48):
Slaters given this big speech. Theyjust finished the game, he's got
jeans on. I don't get thatat all. That doesn't make any sense.
Um, there are two empty seatsat the gang's table, yep.
And I just want to know, like who was supposed to sit there?
Like Lisa and Screech couldn't make it, were they supposed to sit there?
Who's supposed to sit there? Idon't know? And then why? And

(22:11):
this goes back a little bit toyour you know, I'm so you never
said if you're excited, you're scared. I'm excited enough. Yeah, sure?
Um, why is Zach so stupid? Like they make him just dumb
in this? Like he just it'sjust a meadhead. And in the original
Saved by the Bell, he's areally sly knowing three steps ahead, not

(22:36):
like Mack, like mac is isa few steps ahead. But usually it's
just also not bright. Zach getsreally high SAT scores in the original.
He's not a dumb guy, andit just smoother too. Yes, he
just feels like a lunkhead in this. And I just don't even understand it.
I didn't understand it at all.The other three characters I bought his

(22:57):
I just it doesn't make anything.He's like, he's just a complete idiot,
and I don't understand. Um.One thing that made me laugh immediately
out of the gate was the banneris so good we finally made Valley.
It was like it was a closeone we did it. I loved It's
like this very long banner. Ithink it is with the whole wall.

(23:17):
Uh made me laugh a lot.Um. I think a couple of things
that I have questions about. Oneum is is the prank in and of
itself that Mac pulled. There's alot Mac that had that had to go
right. Your dad had to standright where he was going. Like.
It's not like it's a big potof gravy. It is a very singularly

(23:41):
placed that of figure out exactly whereevery person was going to stand in the
alumni photo. Yeah yeah, yeah. Um. I want to know,
Um, Toddman was at the wedding, but they don't know who he is.
So I do want to know, did Toddman sneak into the wedding?

(24:02):
Did he get an invite in Hawaii? It's in Hawaii, right, they
got married in Hawaii. I don'tremember that, um, So just I
want to know how he got howhe was at the wedding if they didn't
know who he was. I meanthat seems like quite like just to complete
how do you miss that? Yeah, how do you like? How in
the world did they miss him allthose years? That's a pretty It doesn't
bother me because Toddman, they've playedTodd enough to be this guy who's what

(24:27):
like, he's so forgettable. Yeah, and so I got it. But
that was the one legitimately older thanall four of those, like legitimately older
than them, and that that wasalso funny from I thought they were gonna
make him like a senior when theywere freshmen, because that would have been
a really funny bit because all theseniors in the school are so old.
They didn't go that route. Yeah, Um, that's about it. I

(24:47):
mean there's a lot of things thatI laughed at in this episode. Um,
I think, you know, obviouslythe thing that I'm very interested in
it continued, it continues to comeback to Davante. Yeah, I'm so
fascinated by him. And oddly enough, this is something I just kind of
realized is as far as the newcast goes, we got the most out

(25:10):
of Davante in this character and settinghim up for the future with him liking
this girl being kind of clumsy, clumsier than you would think, um,
mac thinking that they're closer than theyare, Like DeVante is like, I
don't really, we don't really knoweach other, and he's like, I
thought we were best friends. Umand so so I'm I'm excited to see

(25:32):
what happens with him because I andis this uh, is this a girl
gonna be a bigger part of theshow where they gonna continue. I'm excited
to see what happens. But I'mhappy. I was happy because I'm pro.
I'm pro Davante so far as lasttime friends forever? Everybody, Um
boy, I got more Dustin Diamondnews. Everybody. Oh my gosh.

(25:56):
Um So, Dustin does have cancer? Okay, okay, do we find
out what it's? Lung cancer?It's a form of it's a yes.
So you might be wondering, howdid he get lung cancer? Yeah?
Is he a smoker? I don'tknow. He's not a smoker. So
Dustin says that he believes it's fromyears of being on tour and staying in

(26:19):
crappy hotel rooms. What do youmean he was a key stand up comedian.
Dustin Diamonds a stand up comedian. He was I gotta get some video
of that, so Dustin would go. Dustin believes this is a quote.
Dustin believes some of these spots thathe stayed in may have had mold or
or asbestos, which could that hecould have breathed then causing his cancer.

(26:45):
Wow. So he believes it's stayingin crappy hotels over the years unbelievable.
Yeah, I don't know if that'swant to know from how many nights science.
I don't like, he's on tour, he's going crapping hotel and crapping
I mean for that to like,I get it, some bad hotels probably

(27:06):
had the air is not good, but the amount of time you'd have to
spend in those hotels is just astronomical, right, I'd say. So,
I don't know. He doesn't seemtoo credible, but you know, yeah,
whatever, Uh it's uh, stagefour small cell carcinoma, carcinoma,

(27:26):
got a carcinoma. I want toknow from a medical professional out there,
ken staying one night in a moldyhotel room affect your lung's long term I'd
like to know that interesting? Yeah, because either way, like at the
end of the day, like he'sstill going from hotel to hotel room.
So it's different amounts of mold.Right, It's not like he's getting the

(27:49):
same amount of mold night after night. It's his different situations of mold,
right, Yeah, so it's notthe same amounts. Yeah, I don't
know. One night can one nightin one hotel room with mold affect your
lungs long term? That's crazy,That's what I loved. I'd love to

The Male Room with Dr. Jesse Mills

The Male Room with Dr. Jesse Mills

As Director of The Men’s Clinic at UCLA, Dr. Jesse Mills has spent his career helping men understand their bodies, their hormones, and their health. Now he’s bringing that expertise to The Male Room — a podcast where data-driven medicine meets common sense. Each episode separates fact from hype, science from snake oil, and gives men the tools to live longer, stronger, and happier lives. With candor, humor, and real-world experience from the exam room and the operating room, Dr. Mills breaks down the latest health headlines, dissects trends, and explains what actually works — and what doesn’t. Smart, straightforward, and entertaining, The Male Room is the show that helps men take charge of their health without the jargon.
