(00:03):
This is a Bramble Jam podcast.Oh yes, yes, yes, you

(00:26):
were yawning. Yeah, I thoughtyou had found looked and found something very
exciting, you know like this.Nope, just a sleepy You were like,
I looked like you just read somethingon the news that was a game
changer for everyone here in the audienceat home listening. But no, you
were just yelling for breaking news.I'm tired, you can tell me.

(00:48):
And then it was nothing sleepy timesfor Brandy. Hey pal, how are
you? I'm all right? Howabout you? Man? Well, um,
let me tell you this much.Valentine's Day is next week. Really
it's I've been wanting a pink unicorngold you got, you got anything you
could find me. How's that Fijiwater? You know, no person has,

(01:15):
no one has ever touched this water. It's untouched. Gosh, I
hope. So it's not a problemwith water is They advertise that it's untouched,
and I'm always like, who istouching? It's like early It works
great because now if I pick upa dasani, I'm like, someone touched
this water. It's like early onin COVID when the pizza Dominoes is like,

(01:36):
no one's touching your pizza after theoven. It's like, how many
people are just like touching the peppers. Yeah. No, no one touches
this water ever. Ever, it'sfrom the source. Still. Once again,
if someone is running their fingers throughthe water, I don't want any
fizza. You you're telling me noone's ever touched the water. Oh,
it's great as Fiji. Before thisday, everybody touched the water, like

(01:59):
everybody had to put a hand inand they were like, hey, what
if we went with a new modelthey had. They had all hands on
deck being there just like guys,uh, gotta get those hands out of
here. I think what they're sayingis it's bottled at the source, so
the natural pressure forces the water towardsa sealed delivery system directly into the bottle.

(02:19):
So that's pure, pure, freefrom human contact. That's pure water,
that's right. So it's just it'sjust right on in there. How
do they actually this is gonna soundlike just the most pompous thing in the
world. I don't get feed youwater off and it was on sale at
the gas station. Uh, Ido think feed you water tastes better?
Do you think it tastes better?Because because it's untouched because it's a square
bottle. I think it's unto it'sboth, but it's untouched because there's something

(02:43):
about the square grimy hands in theyou know, I know that no one
touches water like it says it onthe box. I don't know what else
you need for bottle, but it'sa square. It's a square, so
that makes it. It's a boxall. Uh, we're talking about um all
in the hall. Episode nine theHalls was called in the Hall. I
thought you were doing another bit.I was like, oh, no,
here, no here. You knowwhat is not a bit either, is

(03:06):
that we got two episodes left. Two episodes left of Back to bay Side
as you know it, so wewill finish up the reboot. But after
that Back to Bay Side and ourrewatch heads one over to Bramble Jam Plus
Bramble Jam Plus. You can signup the bass level. UM mean you'll
get a couple episodes every month alongwith Yo Gavel Gavel and um. You

(03:27):
know will be better for it.Yeah, we all will be better for
it will be commercials or anything like. I think it's important Dan for this
episode to do um our last segmentfirst. Okay, yes, yeah,
I agree, So let's go toour first segment, which is typically our
last segment, friends forever. Itwould be wrong, I think Dan to

(03:47):
start this episode without acknowledging, um, the passing of destined at forty four
years old. Um, you knowthe last two weeks, right, we've
had Dustin stories. We found outtwo weeks ago. Last week we got
word that he um that it waslung cancer and he believed it was from

(04:09):
all those years of travel. Andthen less than a week later, so
fast, Um, you know,so many questions like how how did he
get it? Is it from thehotel rooms? Like? Also, was
he not feeling any sort of discomfortbefore stage four? Right away? It's
just really quick and so UM hateit for him, I really, you

(04:31):
know, I felt like over thelast couple of years he was round Yeah
ye at least having like, youknow, conversations about wanting to be a
part of this and Shane would neverhave to see it. Mark Paul tweeted
something really kind. He tweeted out, deeply saddened to hear of the passing
of Dustin Diamond, a true comedicgenius. My sincere condolences to his family

(04:53):
and friends. Looking back at ourtime working together. I will miss those
raw, brilliant sparks that only hewas able to p deuce A pie in
your face, my comrade, Imean, come on, any better than
that. Listening to that other show, you can you can hear lots of
times Mark paul Um talk about justhow goodness, especially with physical comedy,

(05:15):
how good Dustin was and so yeah, I mean, if you ever thought
they were all estranged from each other, like you would never be able to
tell that by the way Mark paultalk talks about Dustin Diamond and how funny
he was and how it was hardto keep a straight face, and how
he just would always go for broke. So you know, I know Mario
said that he was able to connectwith him while Dustin was in the hospital.
I hope that the other guys wereall able to, yeah, make

(05:38):
amends, because I think that's important. I would hate for that not to
have happened with all though. Soyou hate it, you hate it,
but I did feel like it wouldbe wrong to not talk about that at
the top of the show. Yeah, our condolence is absolutely to his his
family and fans and friends and allof that stuff. I think that you
know, you know, goes out. There's not much else we can do.

(06:00):
It's a sad, sad day.Any updates, of course, we'll
give you the friends forever, sofor sure moving forward, Ye be ready
to having all in the hall.Let's do it. It's time for our
first second. Hey hey, whatis going on here? Hey hey,
hey, what is going on here? It's the part of the show where
we write this episode down, tellyou what happened, just in case you
didn't see it or maybe watched itback in November one. It dropped and

(06:21):
you need just a quick little refreshercourse. This is what they call in
the business to penultimates episodes. It'svery good. It's a good use of
Thank you, UM. Ten episodeseason. I feel like it's been a
great run so far. I feellike tens a fair number for this UM.
Things are getting real. If youremember, at the end of last

(06:43):
episode, they raised the money atthe homecoming dance dinner thing, and it
was announced that they were going touse all of this money that was raised
to open back up to Douglas. And so the episode kicks off with Daisy
immediately jumping into how can we fixit right? This is not right?
We have to we have to figurethis out. Um. So Daisy has

(07:06):
got some things that she's gonna bedoing this episode to try to fix it.
Um. We also get plenty ofDeVante in this episode. Toddman is
gonna go over to Douglas High tocheck out the digs at Douglas High,
and he basically says if it doesn'tlook great, he's gonna stand up to
every needs to stand up for andDavanta says, I'll go with you.
That's right. So DeVante and Toddmanare taking the trip over to Douglas for

(07:29):
the entire episode. Toddman storyline thateveryone's been right this year. Yeah.
Um. They have this conversation aboutyou know, like Devanta's basics, like
what like you didn't like stand likewe want you to be able to stand
up for us and fight for usand all that good stuff. Um.
So Daisy has this uh plan basicallytoo, Like she's coming up with all

(07:50):
these plans like have Taylor's swift retweetor something. You have a whole whiteboard
of it. Um. And ifthey she figures out if they file a
specific form within sixty days of anew charter school's approval, it Uh,
basically triggers an investigation. Um.And so the deadline to file that form

(08:13):
today is today. That's exactly whatyou gotta get over there. So um,
so Daisy and Mac and Lexei.Mac and Lexei are along for the
ride to head down to the countycourthouse thing. Um. We also have
Jamie. Jamie's very sad about thisnews. Um. He's in a hot

(08:35):
relationship with Asha. Um what arewe gonna do? Aisha brings up the
fact, hey, we can staytogether. We're kids. It's like hard,
Yeah, we don't have any schoolresponsibilities. But uh, but Jamie's
just having a really really difficult time. Um. And he also you know,

(08:56):
sneaks in some love action going onthere, really putting his heart,
um on his sleeve, if youwill. Um. So back at the
courthouse. Um, they get thereand there there's a guy who who stamps
the forms, but he just hasa stamped yes. So they they turned
the corner. There's a very longline. Luckily, Uh, Lexie and

(09:22):
Mac are really good at, youknow, getting in front of people,
so they keep they take turns, scheming and cut in line with people's approval
and it's all all that good stuff. They get to the place and it's
two fifty nine. They have tohave it in there by three o'clock,
and Daisy takes some time, beinglike, hey, I recognize you.

(09:45):
And in that time it turns tothree o'clock and she goes to hand it
and he's like, oh, itsays it has to be in my hand
by three o'clock. Donezo wow nothaving it? Um, So he's just
he's done. He's like, asthat's happening. Toddman and Davante are at
Douglas High and it looks great. It looks great that they've it looks like

(10:09):
they've done a huge update on theschool. Todman runs into a fellow principle
he's known for years and years,Um, the lady who's trying to shut
down this, you know, who'strying to make this happen. She takes
Davant on a tour and then theycatch up. He and this principle catch
up, and he basically is honestwith him and says, this isn't like
it looks nice, but it actuallyisn't nice. Like they're gonna give some

(10:31):
money, They're gonna promise a newtheater or a new pool and knew something.
It'll never happen. They'll feel betterabout their white guilt to move forward
and that this kind of gets youknow, going because he cares for these
key cares for the kids. Yeah. Um, Now going back to Jamie.
Jamie obviously very frazzled by the impendingloss of Aisha to Douglas. So

(10:56):
he's gonna double down. He's gonnadouble down with Oh, I don't know.
A proposal proposes to her, saysyou know, I love you at
the max Full dancing tuxedo thing. It's it's it's something something to behold.
Um, Aisha doesn't, you know, say yes and clearly has some Uh

(11:16):
she doesn't say I love you back, and you know all that's going on.
Jas's very sad about this. Umso uh Daisy mac Lexi. They
get back to school, Daisy's veryupset. She quit, She's gonna quit.
She's gonna go to Toddman's office, smoke a doobie, um, get
kicked out of school and just bedone with this whole thing. She can't

(11:39):
keep fighting. Um. Toddman comesacross, uh, Spencer's mom. Spencer's
mom and basically it's like this isn'tright. This is wrong. I'm gonna
fight for this. I don't careif it costs me my job. Um
blah blah blah and um. Thatreally speaks to Davante, who like,

(12:00):
oh this guy does care, offersto get a filet a fish with him,
which means a lot to him.Um. Jamie and Aisha have one
more conversation UM, where they basicallyum agree to depart to break things off.
Yeah, because she doesn't feel likeshe can't say I love you,
and it's it's not what they say. They break up. I'm not gonna

(12:22):
stay in this relationship if you don'tfeel the same way about me. Um.
And then they all find Daisy inthe principal's office right before she lights
that dube Um makes it, getsher to stop, says, hey,
we have to keep fighting. We'reall in this together. We're all in
this together. Um. UM andbig big group hug and that's it.

(12:46):
There we go. That's it.Pause until the next episode, episode ten.
All in the hall. I wantedto take a quick break. We'll
be right back here one Okay, all right, I forgot, I forgot.
Um, you're ready for that nextsegment? I'm read at next sex
sec I don't know, sounded sexsex sec Yeah, no, just a

(13:11):
segment would be fine with me.I'm so excited. I'm so scared.
Spy a show where we share wefelt about it? Did we love it?
And it excited us? Stod wenot like it? Did it scared
Yeah? Dan, I think it'smy favorite episode of the of the of
the season. I think it's myfavorite one. And here's why. It's

(13:31):
because the gang is buying large workingtogether. DeVante is off with Toddman,
but it's a very important storyline. He gets to act in and he gets
to do some things. It's reallygood. He has some funny lines.
The rest of the gang is workingtogether. The group hug felt very organic
and real to me. I hadsome actual feels for these these kids working

(13:52):
together, learning about their privilege andlearning you know what, you know,
systemic educational racism looks like I thoughtall that was awesome. I thought the
met which was great, but Ialso had big laughs. There were big
laughs in this episode. Across theboard, Mac has some really good zingers,
really funny stuff happening. Um youknow, there's a there's a gag
where a spencer basically just he slipswith a cupcake in his face and it's

(14:15):
hilarious. Big gag laughs, biglaughs, big zingers. Also ton of
feels it had everything that I youknow, it reminded me of as a
kid, the best Saved by theBell episodes, and so I know that
we're on a cliffhanger, and reallyyou combine this with the last one to
kind of make the circle complete. But for me, for my money,
this twenty three minutes was the bestthey had really loved it. I agreed,

(14:37):
Dan, I think it's a greatepisode. It's right up there with
the other episode that I really likethat I don't remember which was. It
was one when they all had somethingto do. They all felt important,
they all felt like their stories weremoving forward, and it felt like the
episode mattered. So obviously this wasa filler to next episode or a man,

(14:58):
they nailed it a bridge from eightto ten. Um, But I
thought it was really great, andUM, I'm excited for next week because
I think it's really gonna tie everythingtogether. So I'm so excited that this
show so good. It really isgood. It's a good show. It's
a great program. I'm upset thatit's coming to an end. I'm upset
that I have to wait for anotherseason, but we're getting one. Yeah,
thank god getting one. Thank goodness. We'll take We'll take what we

(15:20):
can get. It's time for ourlast segments. Okay, time out,
Time out, the part of showwhere we talk about anything that made us
laugh, made it's confused, whateverit might be. You got it.
I had like a little little yeah. Yeah. Um. So all of
this happens before three pm, duringa school day. Yeah, is anyone
in school? I get it.I understand we're playing a little bit,

(15:43):
but no one is in class.Like DeVante is riding with the principle.
They're all just leaving to go tothe county courthouse, like, no one
there there he's proposing at the matter. All this happens during the school day,
like this is an egregious use ofsaved by the bills, already tenuous

(16:03):
relationship with time in the school day. This is the most egregious when I
think I've seen. For them todo all of this before three pm is
bonkers, just bonkers crazy. Um. And here's the thing, here's what
the weirdest part is. Three pmhappens at the county courthouse, and then
they go back and there's apparently stillschool going on for hours, because then
she goes back, does the fullthing with a locker, then she goes

(16:26):
to Todman's office. So what doesthat four pm like? Are they all
just hanging out after school together?School starts at ten? I don't.
I have no idea how that works. Ten to five. That was the
big one. Um. They doa handshake. It's a great handshake and
they basically go, hey, hey, hey, what's going on here?
And that was one of mine becauseI, you know, I felt like

(16:48):
we've gotten this whole season without likelike even a nod to belt yea,
and so it was really nice toget that nod. And Well, what
my question is is they did threeHays and his thing is four Hays.
Like the thing we play at thebeginning is hey, hey, hey,
what's going on? It's four? It's hey, hey hey, it's four,
And they did three. And Ijust want to know what the breakdown
was, if it just made moresense to do three or what. Um,

(17:12):
And those are my two big ones. I have a couple other ones
if you don't have anything, butbut those are my two ones. Well,
I got a couple of just likeoh all right. Cool. We
finally got to see like all ofthe MAX for the first time. I
think, this whole see we getyou know, the view from door and
word, you know, not facingtors the door. But yeah, like

(17:33):
and so there's a full bar thatI didn't know existence. It was really
cool to see that all of theMAX. I have questions like from a
you know, architectural standpoint, likedid they add that did the MAX expand
from the original, because like theywere always at like up against I thought
the wall, but I don't know. Yeah. Um. And I also

(17:59):
there's this whole thing about the theatercoming soon, but like what is that
if not a theater? Like whatlike what is that area of the school
of Douglas High that's like it's gonnabe a theater, but is it just
nothing right now? Four? Igot questions about that. Um. I

(18:19):
had one other one, but youyou go ahead. The stamp fetish guy.
Why are they allowing like, hey, she comes in and he like
stamps approved on everything, and thenhe's like, I'm just some pervert with
a stamp fetish And You're like that'sa funny bit, Like I laughed,
Why is the county courthouse allowing thisstamp fetish guys set up a table in
the court in the whatever that isand do this bit like that seems like

(18:44):
he would have to stay five hundredyards away, like it doesn't make any
sense at all. And then lastly, just offhand, um, they mentioned
that there's no way that he wouldhave won the Talent Show, Devanta or
DeVante or mat one of them. One of them wouldn't one of the Talent
Show if if Daisy had not beenbacking them up on the upright bass.

(19:06):
And I she plays the upright bass, which is sting to me. Um,
oh, my last one is Iwant you know this is more of
I'm curious, but I want toknow what DeVante thought of the filet of
fish, like, oh, yeah, for sure, it was a funny
bit. Todd and and loves thesefilet of fish, and I just thought,

(19:26):
like, you know, I've neverhad a filet of fish. I
can imagine what it would taste like, because I just want to know what
Davante's feeling. Terrible, if it'sreal bad, this gad one I've never
had. Oh no, I workedat McDonald's. Had to make them cheese
and tartar sauce on that bad cheese. Weird, it's not good. What

(19:47):
about the McRib mcrib's terrible. Ivenever had it. It's bone shaped meat.
No, I know what, it'sbone shaped meat. Did you ever
have you had it? I triedone when he worked there. Uh not
when I was like no, itwas never around when I worked there.
But it's the mccrup is better thanthe flay of fish. I would say,
hand, it's got barbecues onus onit. I mean, come on,

(20:07):
slatter it up. Yeah, Ijust I don't understand McDonald's fascination with
taking the mac rib away for longperiods of time. Like I know,
it gets buzz every time they bringit back, but like that's why.
But like people love it like aDisney vault man, people buy you know,
Sleeping Beauty on Blue Ray all thetime in the early two thousands if

(20:27):
they could, but they couldn't becauseit was in the vault. It's McDonald's
vault. Is the dumbest thing.Send that thing open here, we got
out there. Let's get that. But like I wonder how much money they
would make if they just had itall the time. That's good. I'm
sure they've done to cause the yeah, carst analysis for sure, which we

(20:49):
have as we have for sure,we crutch the numbers and we say take
it out of the vault for good. You take it out of the vaul
for good. Guys, we hateit, but take it up, take
it out. We did. Everybodyback next week, one last episode.
Ol Um, very excited about it. Put a bow on this reboot until
it comes on back. Um.I don't know next year, this year,
who knows. I don't know who, but I'm excited for it.

(21:11):
Um. Thank you guys for listening. Subscribe to Brandwell Jam Plus for more
Back to bay Side action. Untilthen, get back to class. Back
to bay Side is produced by meBrandon, also hosted by his Danny's around

(21:37):
occasionally just kidding. He's there everyepisode except for that one time they got
lost. He called. Then hewas panics. He said, I don't
know where I Yeah, so Irecorded both of the voices and you couldn't

(21:59):
even tell the differens. He wasjust in his basement. He's a doging
