(00:06):
Hi, improvers, and welcome backto another episode of the Be Better Bit
by Bit podcast. This is yourhost, they should goel and today we
are diving deep into a topic thattouches all of us, a question that
often whispers in our ears. Thatis, what are they going to think?

(00:27):
Now, let's flip this question onits head and harness it for our
empowerment, not as an excuse tohold us back, but to make us
powerful. Now Here is a sliceof my life. Every morning, come
rain or shine or whatever, Iwalk about ten to twelve minutes with two

(00:48):
heavy shoulder bags to catch my burstto work. One bag is full of
my food, five fruits, twothree books, a few journal bads,
my marcat pants, a hydrogen bottle, you just name it. The other
is for my laptop, not theoffice one, but my personal one,
and headphones. And by the way, we will come back to the lapped

(01:11):
top story later on. Now picturethis. It's pouring down and there I
am at the bus stop, slowlywalking back and forth, bags on my
shoulders, juggling an umbrella. Ican feel the curious eyes on me,
perhaps pondering or thinking, why allof this baggage? Why does this person

(01:34):
walk like that? Or why despitethe sweat does he continue? Yet?
In that moment of shared glance, there is a connection, a smile.
I step onto the bus, settleinto my seat, close my eyes and
meditate. Just ten to twelve minutesof deep breathing with meditation sets the stage

(01:56):
for my day ahead. But then, as the bus goes along and I'm
there with my books out, readyto kind of savor all that knowledge,
the weight of those eyes again, that unspoken question hangs in the air.
What will they think of you?Isn't it curious how such a small question

(02:16):
can loom so large, potentially stoppingus from embracing our truth today? I
urge you to transform this question intoyour power. Yes everyone is thinking about
you. Yes, no one isbothered, So why are you? We

(02:37):
all think about Elon Musks next week. We all are bothered about Bill Gate's
plan to change the world. Weall think about what is going to happen
to all the decision makers? Howdoes that affect them? If I had
bothered about those scanning eyes, Icould never use my time on my commute
as I want. If I knowmy why all the additional effort and pain

(03:01):
of carrying those two heavy bags becomesworth my wise, I need to make
the best use of my commute time. Learning every day is essential. The
books help me achieve that I needmy writing time, and that's why I
carry that laptop with me, becausein the evening that nineteen minutes of compute
time helps me write what I want. Now, imagine for a moment,

(03:25):
what if Marcus Orrelius had held backhis thoughts for fear of judgment. In
his book Meditations, he says, when you wake up in the morning,
tell yourself, the people I dealwith today will be meddling, ungrateful,
arrogant, dishonest, jealous, andsurly none of them can hurt me.

(03:53):
Don't waste the rest of your timehere worrying about other people. It will
keep you from doing anything useful. Why do you complain rather than act?
Such a beautiful paragraph? So howdo we push past this noise? How
do we ensure that what will theythink becomes a stepping stone rather than a

(04:15):
stumbling block. So here my sixways to push the right switch and turn
off the excuse. First, focuson what's important to you. Nothing else
matters. When you know your why, the external voice doesn't bother. Second,
Remember their opinion is because of theirbelief system. You are a unique

(04:41):
creature on this planet, and thesame is true of other people. Don't
let their belief system impact the wayyou answer your why no one else can
live your life. Third, seekfeedback and deal with it constructively. The
best way to convert the excuse ofwhat will they think is to seek feedback

(05:05):
from the people you know who arethey Involve them in your decision making,
be it at home or office,or part of your social life. They
change their perspective towards you when youinvolve them. It's important to pick the
right people for such feedback. Plus, you must deal with it constructively.

(05:26):
Fourth, you can't please all,so stop trying. Remember that it's overhead
and a huge burden to keep otherpeople happy. Stop burning yourself. Some
relationships might need a rething, butthat's okay. Fifth, be wary of
the echo. Shout out loud inan empty room and the sound will return

(05:46):
to you. If you keep worryingabout what others feel about you, it
will ultimately start impacting your decision makingand behavior. This problem, this confusion,
will keep echoing back to you.And finally, sixth, remember life
has an expiry date. We allare going to leave this planet, no
doubt about it, to live itthen, as what others think is a

(06:11):
complete waste of time and a preciouslife, decide for yourself and do what
you want. Friends, it's nevereasy not to think of what others feel
about you. We all are evolvedbeings and comparison is engraved in our nerves
and brain like any other skill.Letting go of this comparison is a skill.

(06:33):
However, you have to understand andperceive the positive impact this one change
can do on your life. Weare not equal in our abilities and will
never be. If you win, that doesn't mean I lose. We are
not running into a zero sum game. We all started with the same cosmic

(06:55):
bang, but then we all createda different identity, genome, and our
universe. You and I will neverbe the same, but today's I can
be different from yesterday's I, andall of that depends on how and with
what I compare myself. Friends, look into a mirror and ask yourself,

(07:16):
am I better than my yesterday self? Because this question is better than asking
yourself what are they going to think? Friends, thank you for joining me
on this journey of self discovery andempowerment. Until next time, keep challenging
the statusco, keep striving for better, and remember what they think is not

(07:40):
your concern, what you become is. Don't forget to join me in the
next episode of Be Better Bid bya Bit, where we will continue to
explore more such interesting perspectives and thebid by bid philosophy to life. My
two books, Be Better Bid Bya Bit and my daily five Minute Gratitude
