(00:06):
Hi, Improvers, Welcome to anotherepisode of Be Better Bid by a Bait,
the podcast where we dive deep intothe little things that make a difference
in our lives. I am theshit Goel and today we are tackling a
topic that affects all of us atsome point in life. That's laziness.

(00:27):
We often view laziness as enemy, but what if we could make it our
friend. Today's episode is inspired bya blog post which I wrote like long
time back, and I thought thatI will use it in my conversation with
you. And today we are goingto explore how understanding laziness can actually help

(00:52):
us enjoy it. Friends, Lazinessis not inherently negative. It's a mental
state. It's a signal from yourmind and body that something needs attention.
But what are these signals and howcan you respond to them positively? Let's

(01:14):
start with a story. In hisbook Atomic Habits, James Clear talks about
a man who lost one hundred poundsby asking this one simple question, what
would a healthy person do? Everydecision, from what to eat to whether
to exercise was guided by this question. This man transformed his life by understanding

(01:38):
the root cause of his habits. So what's the root cause of laziness?
Is it a tired body, hunger, dehydration, lack of sleep, or
even sickness. These are the signalswhich body throws at you. Identifying one
of these reasons is cruci to workalong with laziness. So here is a

(02:04):
practical exercise for you. When youfeel lazy, grab a notebook or a
piece of paper and jaw down fivethings that are bothering you at that point
in time. Don't act on them, just acknowledge them. Another powerful approach
is mindfulness. In the book Powerof Now, which is written by A.

(02:27):
Cahart Toll, he emphasizes the importanceof being present when lazy. Try
this, close your eyes, taketen debreaths, and listen to your inner
voice. Be calm, be gentlewith your breath. It's about being present
in your laziness and understanding it.Let's also talk about how to gently nudge

(02:55):
ourselves out of laziness. First,a glass of water dehydration often kind of
is a layer against fatigue. Ortake a walk, preferably under the open
sky, because nature has this wayof re energizing ourselves. Do you know

(03:17):
that Albert Einstein often took long walksto clear his mind and inspired new ideas.
Or Steve Jobs was known for hiswalking meetings, they knew something important.
Movement sparks creativity and helps handling laziness. And here is a very fun,

(03:38):
fun activity. Smile. Yes,smiling can trick your brain into happiness.
In fact, there's a study inthe journal Psychological Science which found that
smiling can reduce heart rate and stressduring challenging task. And it's absolute beautiful

(04:00):
cure to laziness. Now, beforewe conclude, let's remember laziness isn't a
no to everything, it's a yesto something else. Maybe it's a yes
to rest, to introspect, orto simply being get bore. In the
ancient scripture Ghita, we find avery powerful example Arjuna, faced with this

(04:25):
daunting prospect of fighting his brothers,Una was paralyzed not just physically, but
morally and mentally. It's a momentof profound reluctance, akin to what we
call laziness in today's world. Butthis moment became a turning point Lord Krishna's

(04:47):
guidance. Arjuna delved into a deepexploration of his duty, action and understanding
self, and he emerged clearly, and he understood his path. The story
teaches us that sometimes what looks likelaziness is actually a deep call for introspection

(05:11):
and understanding the path of life.So next time you feel lazy, don't
fight it. Understand it, embraceit, spend time with it, and
maybe then you will understand the beautyof it. So, friends, thank
you for joining me in today's journeytowards self improvement and listening to be Better

(05:32):
Bid by a Bit, stay tunedfor the next episode, and remember each
small step leads to big change. As we wrap up today's episodes, let's
remember this journey we have taken tounderstand and embrace laziness. It's not just
overcoming it, but also about listeningto what it is telling us and finding

(05:56):
a balance and harmony with laziness.Have learned that laziness isn't our enemy.
It's a signal, a chance topause and reflect. Whether it's addressing our
physical needs like rest or nutrition,or our mental needs like mindfulness and introspection,
laziness can be a powerful friend inour journey towards self improvement. So

(06:19):
until we meet again in the nextepisode of Be Better Bait by bait.
Keep exploring these moments of stillness.Remember, in understanding and embracing our lazy
moments, we take a significant steptowards becoming better bait by bait. If
you're eager for more insights, don'tforget to check out my books Be Better

(06:43):
Baid by Wait, and my dailyfive minute Gratitude Journal, which is available
on a Mason and many many physicalstores. Your feedback and thoughts are invaluable
and they will help me shape thisjourney better Until next time go by,
and let's continue to be better bitby bit, embracing every part of our

(07:06):
human experience, including moments of laziness. Bye bye,
