Speaker 1 (00:00):
Game, set and match, How shut the gate? Are going
to do it again?
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Can I common judgment?
Speaker 1 (00:07):
And days when the good even corner? Good evening. You're
here with boys get paid coming at you live from
the Export Beer Garden Studio on another Thursday night and
it is a Group one Thursday night. We haven't been
here for a couple of weeks and we are absolutely
(00:29):
ready to roll. The sun is shining, well it has
been in Auckland anyone it looks like it doesn't. Hastings
have just checked the weather. So we have got a
great day ahead on Saturday. And we've got a great
show ahead as well. Dan, how are you? Mate's great
to see you.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
Yeah, mate, I am good. I've got that Group one feeling.
It's a good track, it's sunny, the good horses are
out in a ready roll, mate.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
Absolutely. The fields are incredible this week. The three races
that we're going to go through, the Gold Trail Stakes,
the Sir Colin Meads Trophy and the Tarzano of course,
are all looking very hot. Somebody that's also always looking
very hot as old Luke. He's not with us tonight,
he's over in mar Lago. I understand. Is that what
you were telling me.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
Yeah, that's it. Somethingsm's on one of them.
Speaker 1 (01:12):
Can you still get into that. Maybe he's probably trying,
isn't he? Hope you're going well over there, Luke. I
think it's about two am in the morning, but maybe
he's listening, and who knows. Pugsy, Thanks for coming along
mate tonight. Keep it on out for Luke and the comments,
and keep an eye out for everybody else in the
comments as well. We want to know from you who
is winning the Tarzino Trophy this week. We've both gone
(01:33):
through the field and we've got a couple of bits
to throw out for the race. We're certainly thinking it
looks like a pretty open race, but it should be
a great one. So we want to know who you
guys think is going to win that race, and we'll
get some of those comments out later on in the show.
We'll also get some of those best big comments out
that people have been making on the Facebook and Instagram
(01:55):
post as well. So, Dan, mate, last week I saw
some Facebook and and social media content of you over
at the alex and I think Luke joined you for
a little bit, and Mate, was it another will that
you got a couple of good wins on Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:08):
It got another will. It got a few winners. Actually,
it ended up being a really good afternoon, had a
few beers, got steamed up and yeah, just another will.
Finally gave me some cash back after I think I
had tent racks riding on it for the the don
Caster maybe.
Speaker 1 (02:24):
Or the it was the don Caster. And it was
a really heavy track, wasn't it.
Speaker 2 (02:29):
Yeah it was something like that, and it was wide
and yeah, it just didn't quite come on, but I
got it on early. I think I got it at
the tens. Yeah, and didn't quite didn't quite come off
the way that I wanted to. But that's all good.
I've got more money back on the weekend. And of
course we seen a Quintessa.
Speaker 1 (02:44):
Yeah put the way.
Speaker 2 (02:45):
That was a good win as well, and I got
some cash from that as well.
Speaker 1 (02:47):
Did you bet on Quintessa?
Speaker 2 (02:49):
I did. Yep.
Speaker 1 (02:50):
That was outstanding. It's one of those horses that you
know is really that good, but when you see it
open up at fifteen's or sixteens or whatever it opened
up out over there, you sort of wonder. But paid
ten bucks in the end.
Speaker 2 (02:59):
Yeah, carried the big way and done a good job
on him.
Speaker 1 (03:01):
Yeah, good horse, real good horse. So good time at
the Alex had by all absolutely Yeah, definitely by me.
Speaker 2 (03:09):
I can't speak for everyone else, but yeah, I.
Speaker 1 (03:11):
Had a good time, good work mate. Last week we
had the fung Anui guineas as well. Read about it
taking that out in the pretty heavy conditions down there
at fong Anui. I didn't know much about this horse,
but it sort of announced itself now and it sounds
like it's going to the Derby.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
This might be a really good horse. Like all three
starts have been on heavy tracks, it's never been on
top of the ground. I'd be interested to see how
it goes on top of the ground. But I think
I almost feel like it doesn't actually really like the
heavy ground. I think it's just getting through it on
pure ability, and I think we might Yeah, I think
this might be another good one.
Speaker 1 (03:45):
Yeah, it sounds like they're gonna have a little bit
of a break with it and head to the Derby.
So yeah, I definitely keep your eyes peeled for that horse.
I thought he's Lucid, which ran third. I don't think
it's been running in the top four every race that
it's had, but I thought that ran pretty well again,
and I wonder if that's going to win it some
odds sooner did you spot that? Probably not?
Speaker 2 (04:04):
No, no, no, I mean I was struggling to spot
the phone in front of me, but we'd steemed. I
was having a good time.
Speaker 1 (04:11):
Yeah, I actually saw the Instagram videos and I thought
to myself, I think Dan' said a few beers.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
Yeah, definitely. I went to lunch before, holdened a few
beers there, and then yeah, it turned up there and
then just yeah they would Yeah, they were going down easy.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
We was lunch.
Speaker 2 (04:26):
Oh, it was in Brawl Oak and I can't remember
the name.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
That's such a big day, outstanding. Stay with us, people,
We are going to get through some good races tonight.
We've got plenty of tips to try, as always, the
best from the community. Ted Luke the Goat looks three
from three actually, so you want to stay tuned for
what his is. And we've got some blessed bets Harness, Halo, Gasso,
scam Man, fit Sea, Markham, the whole lot. We've got
the best bets coming a little bit later in the show.
(04:54):
Let us know what your best bets are. As always,
last week, Dan the lads were on an absolute fire.
What was it, four wins, two placings and a fourth,
and I think we were three from four on Friday
night Harness, won't.
Speaker 2 (05:07):
We Yeah, we were three from four. The Harness lads
were on fire and the Harness Halo as well, getting
home double time, FITZI. It actually won, but we took
the top two for security, but it was almost a
play by play for what he exactly described was going
to happen. It was going to jump. It probably had
to do a little bit more work than we thought
to get to the lead, but yeah, got to the
(05:28):
lead and then just ended up kept on trucking and
got the boys paid.
Speaker 1 (05:32):
Does FITZI do speed maps? Are there such things as
that in Harness?
Speaker 2 (05:36):
No idea?
Speaker 1 (05:36):
No, no idea. Everything that's going to happen and it happens.
You wonder whether he's mapped out their ace?
Speaker 2 (05:41):
Well maybe yeah, yeah he might have and yeah, well
uh yeah it was. It was a great outcome and
it was good to see. I think it was over
three hundred hunters got involved in the Harness and everyone
got pad. Good work everyone, and so over the two
weeks you're in a net positive as well. So you'd
have a if you know, you'd have a one unit. Yeah,
if you put a one unit on the Hannah sale each.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
Week, brilliant. And I think we've got some juicy three
dollar odds for the Hannah salo this week and five
dollars fifty or maybe that's been crunched into five twenty
already on like we did the best BGP and the
Friday fell up this morning down at the down at Elleslie,
and I think we might have got our figures what
those surge dodds.
Speaker 2 (06:23):
Were starting price and the actual booze it.
Speaker 1 (06:25):
Yeah, it doesn't matter to just get involved. And of
course Luke went two from two and I'm going to
say three from three as well, because you lads were
generous enough to put my best bet as Harmonious and
make it the Blessed bet. But I had nothing to
do with that. That was Luke, So he's three from three.
Harmonious ran second. We had that top three blessed, Luke
had Mystic Park and Ted had Toretto who ran second,
(06:46):
and of course got everybody their money back as well
because it was a bonus back race, so great weekend
or round.
Speaker 2 (06:51):
Really, yeah, absolutely, it was a great weekend on the
punt and it's a good way to kick off the season.
I'm looking forward to more of the boys getting paid,
that's for sure.
Speaker 1 (06:59):
Certainly if it's a heavy track and you're winning money, geez.
Surely with a good track the week after. We got
through a Kaka this week as well, and that's going
to be a good track too. But we probably haven't
even had time to go through those fields, although there
are some good horses up there coming out.
Speaker 2 (07:12):
Maybe there's a fair bit on it. Hastings like those
ten races, Those fields are stacked, yeah, and if you're
going through trying to find the best bit in them,
good luck, because it took me hours to find one.
Speaker 1 (07:25):
Yeah yeah, yeah, me too, me too. I hope I've
landed on a good one. But yeah, we shall see.
Time will tell. Right, before we do get into some
of the racing, let's just give everybody dan an update
on what's happening with the events, because there's certainly been
some posts coming out this week from the social media channels.
(07:45):
As everybody may or may not know the best of
BGP Dan and I feel that this morning. So although
you watch the podcast and you'll catch those all tonight.
We'll be on track site over the next couple of
days and the new Friday Phillip, which is our harness community.
We've we've we've got essentially exactly the same as the
best of BGP, but for some of those harness tips
and the Harness Halo to come out. So it's going
(08:07):
to be on the Friday Night Lights I understand, which
is the Friday Night Harness shirt.
Speaker 2 (08:10):
Yeah, yeah, that's right. Yeah, so Friday Night Lights is
basically just the new like Big Saturday Racing, but Friday
Night Lights is the harness version. We then have the
dogs in there as well, but hopefully they're going to
be playing that throughout the night and just commenting on
the boys' best bets as well. And look, we've got
some absolute legends in the BGP community, particularly you know,
(08:31):
a few of them over the last few months and
probably even some of them more consistently over the years
as well. I've been tipping out some big winners. I
think it's just their opportunity in their time now to
shine on the big stage. And look, I think I
think some people are going to start getting paid.
Speaker 1 (08:47):
Yeah, yeah, I agree. Well, as a scamman, I understand
a few years back at Cambridge one night there was
a punter's club and he won everybody a hell of
a lot of money from his tips. What's the big
Cambridge night that we were at last year the race bake?
Speaker 2 (09:00):
Yeah, no, but I think that was originally the Jewels.
Speaker 1 (09:03):
The Jewels that's it. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, where it
was like hardest jewels eight sixteen hundred meter races or something.
It was just absolute sprints. Scanman was there and he
dominated it for everybody. Mate. We've got to speaking of
dominating the punt, we've got the King of the Punt
coming up on every day. Geez, I can't wait for
Elslie this morning. Honestly, we were lucky enough, as I said,
to be there and Allesley it's just a beautiful environment
(09:25):
to be at. So on October the nineteenth.
Speaker 2 (09:27):
October nineteenth, yeah, yeah, So Saturday, October nineteenth, the races
are at Alsie and we will be on course. We've
got the King of the Punt. So the way the
King of the Punt's gonna work is you're gonna have
to buy a ticket to the area that we have,
so we have a BGP area on the day we're
trying to keep the ticket prices as low as we can.
Tickets are going to come out hopefully tomorrow or Monday. Basically,
(09:51):
you pay for your ticket, you get a meal and
a couple of bears on the day, and then to
enter into the competition, you can either enter by yourself
or as a team, and it's basically one hundred dollars
to enter the King of the Punt either like divided
by a few people or by yourself. And then effectively
it's whoever turns that one hundred dollars into the most
(10:14):
money between the first race at Alsie and the everest
is going to win a prize. The prize is pretty grunty.
We've been throwing it around at the moment and I'm
pretty excited about it. So the winner is going to
get something pretty juicy. All the details will hopefully be
out next week for this, but basically, you buy a
ticket to the area, you can come along to the area,
(10:35):
and then you don't actually even have to be in
the Punter's Competition or the King of this Punt to
come along, but it's just basically you buy a ticket
and then your entry is one hundred dollars into the
punters competition. Whoever turns over this most money wins, and yeah,
that's pretty much. It obviously culminates in the everest where
we might have two big Kiwi stables going head to head.
Speaker 1 (10:56):
Yeah. Absolutely, that's going to be a great day. And
I mentioned there'll be an after party Honesly that night.
If we organize that it or do we need to
look to sort that out?
Speaker 2 (11:03):
Not sure yet, but I do know a DJ that
lives around the corner. That might be Kendy coming through
a party for everyone who's there. Just one of my mates,
jerem ah Right, he's not a famous did he's a
good guy.
Speaker 1 (11:14):
It's fine. He need his music. DJs just use everyone
else's music. Surely we can do that. It should be
a great day. I'm really, really really looking forward to that.
I'm also really looking forward to Cup Week. I think
we've had some content go out about that as well.
But yeah, Jesus, I think this is going to be
the first Cup Week I've been to. Unfortunately missed the
last two or three where I've probably had the opportunity
(11:36):
to go. So I'm really excited about getting into christ
Church and getting stuck in with everybody in the community.
Speaker 2 (11:41):
Yeah mate, there's a fair bit on at the moment.
Let me oh yeah right now. But we've sort of
pretty much ironed everything out now. So we're going to
be doing a Punda's club from Thursday through to Saturday.
So we've been punting at the Addington Harness on Thursday,
the Dog sorry not that is Ashburton Harness on Thursday,
(12:02):
the Dogs at Addington on Friday or Thursday night, the
Harness on Friday, and then of course the New Zealand
Cup Day on the Saturday where we also have the
thousand guineas. But we are going to be hosting two
events throughout the week as well, so on the Thursday
night we've got the dogs. The tickets are available now.
It's one hundred and seventy dollars for your ticket to
(12:27):
the Dogs and you basically it's all the Closer package,
so it's all you can drink and all you can eat.
I should have probably said, but it's one hundred and
seventy bucks for all you can basically steal all the
damage you can.
Speaker 1 (12:43):
Well, we were just over the road and I think
we spent probably sixty dollars on beers, so one hundred
and seventy dollars for a ticket into a room to
have a great time with a good bunch of people,
eat all you like and drink all you like. To me,
that just seems like a no brainer if you're in
christ Yurch. I mean it's worth paying for a flight
down for as well. There's still flights going for about
two hundred bucks.
Speaker 2 (13:02):
And then we've got to go again the next day.
Speaker 1 (13:05):
Thankfully that's a twilight meeting.
Speaker 2 (13:07):
Yeah, it is a twilet meeting, so we have a
bit of time. We have a bit of time to
get through the damage. First of all, I'm just sorry man,
I'm just going to have a quick look through because
I need to figure out who you need to get
in contact with.
Speaker 1 (13:21):
Wow, well this was good prep.
Speaker 2 (13:23):
Yeah, I know.
Speaker 1 (13:26):
Look whilst you're whilst you're doing the admind the Friday
is a twilight meeting, and I understand there's going to
be two slot races on that Addington Harness Race meeting
as well, and we're going to be right not only
on course in the BGP area, but on the bloody
finish line. We're going to have front and scent of
view of whose snout is going to be getting in
front and we hear the whips cracking from the sulkies,
(13:46):
is that right?
Speaker 2 (13:47):
Yeah, yeah, Yeah, We're going to be right on the grass,
right in front of the finishing post, right next to
the well, you know where they they tagle the prizes
and everything like that. But we're going to be right
there on the side of the course. I think we
were there a couple of years ago and it was awesome, man, Like,
it was such a good time. I'm really looking forward
to getting down there for the Hunts the first Twilight Meeting.
(14:08):
It's a big day of racing as well. Like they've
got the two five hundred thousand dollars slot races for
three year old trotter's three year old paces, plus a
host of other really good race as well. I think
they're going to have like a good open trot race
and then also the New Zealand Free for All on
that day as well. It's going to be good horses going.
It's going to be a great day. I think they
(14:29):
have the three year old Phillies race on that day
as well from memory.
Speaker 1 (14:33):
Yeah, and of course and the Punters Club will be
running through this as well, so you can either be
involved in the punters Club or you can make your
own bets on the day as well as being the
punters Club and see Markham, scam Man Gaso. They'll all
be there.
Speaker 2 (14:43):
I would have thought one hundred percent. Yeah, yeah, that's
the I think the goal is to get them all
involved and find some value and hopefully we can get
another Cyrus and get home down the outside at twelve
dollars and win a couple of hundred grand. Facking, how's
a galot.
Speaker 1 (14:55):
I'd love to be there alive when Fitzy loses his shit,
rips his shirt off, runs around with it.
Speaker 2 (15:01):
Here we go, so just quickly. So for the Dogs
on Thursday night, the tickets are available now. It's one
hundred and seventy bucks all inclusive. All you need to
do is email Sarah at christ Church Greyhounds dot co
dot n Z and she'll sort you out for a ticket.
Speaker 1 (15:18):
So we should drop bet in the chat, shouldn't we
make sure people? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (15:21):
Yeah, absolutely, yeah, So that stuff's going to be going out.
The events are all over Facebook, they're all set up already.
The tickets for the Harness on Friday should be able tomorrow.
They're going to be a little bit different, just waiting
to confirm them, but the links will be out. That'll
be a little bit cheaper. I think it's one hundred
and fifteen dollars for the harness on Friday, your meal
and four bears. Plus we're sitting right next to the track,
(15:44):
which is going to be really good as well amazing.
Speaker 1 (15:46):
So you can see that promotion out on the BGP
pages and pugsies just drop that in the in the
in the chat as well.
Speaker 3 (15:52):
Get it, fellas.
Speaker 4 (15:53):
I just want to check that Sarah is a Rah
at Christchurch Greyhounds.
Speaker 2 (15:57):
Dot co dot m z yep sa Rah.
Speaker 3 (16:00):
Beautiful the comments now in the live stream.
Speaker 1 (16:02):
Mate, you're on fire. Thanks bags. Anything else you can
bring to the table at the moment.
Speaker 3 (16:05):
Now, that's about it.
Speaker 2 (16:06):
Felt you could have given me that when I was
stumbling trying to fish who it was.
Speaker 5 (16:10):
Mate.
Speaker 1 (16:10):
That's strong. I love it, outstanding, all right. Yeah, check
the comments and check the Facebook page for what's going
on there. I've never been to a dogs meeting, Dan,
have you.
Speaker 2 (16:19):
I have been a long story a but a while ago.
I mean I was a little bit more of a
degenerate punter back then, which is surprising. But me and
my cousin were at eighteen nineteen. Used to go to Manecow.
Oh yeah, Freyhounds on Sunday. After we've sort of been
punished on the punt on Saturday, we'll go. We'll figure
out a way to make our money back up the dogs.
Speaker 1 (16:37):
You're a real old school punter, ain't who learned more
about you every day? I love her. I used to
live at Wimbledon when I moved to London, and unfortunately
Wimbleda was quite a cool place, but there's the Wimbledon
Dogs and people absolutely loved that. And even then I
was like, no one a New Zealand goes to the dogs,
Like I'm not really sure about going to the dogs
in Wimbledon, But apparently it was an absolutely fantastic night out,
so that's crazy.
Speaker 2 (16:58):
I lived in Wimbedem Village for a couple of years.
Speaker 1 (17:01):
Yeah, I went to the story, Yeah, the old Alexandra Pub.
Did you ever hit along there?
Speaker 2 (17:05):
You know?
Speaker 1 (17:05):
And is that on the corner ah somewhere in the town.
Speaker 2 (17:09):
Yeah, I probably have yet. Definitely Christmas there one year.
Speaker 1 (17:14):
We'll have to catch up after this and just retail
old old tales. Let's just continue on right content, Dan
you've been doing a fantastic podcast on Monday as well,
a Monday recap where you've been reading out everybody's Black
Bookers from the weekend. You've been running some video for it.
Are any of those running the Saturday or are we
going to get to that?
Speaker 2 (17:34):
No, there aren't. Now a couple of the black Bookers
that came out was from the most recent one on
Monday was Ted talking about one bold cat for the
Livermore at ten bucks. Yes, so I think that that's
worth picking your interest and having a little bit of
a look at because he thinks it went well. Fresh
Up was definitely not a twelve hundred meters horse, but
watch out for this horse over a little bit more
(17:56):
ground and so he thinks, yeah, ten dollars as well.
How to find him?
Speaker 1 (18:01):
He does? Yeah, and you've been doing a great job
with that on a Monday mate. Good on you. Right,
keep your comments coming in everybody, let us know who's
going to win the Tarzano. But also there's a post
there on the social channels for who your best bet
is for this weekend and we're giving out another hundred
dollars and we're two from two so far people have
picked up the cash. We've had Jolly Star. I think
(18:22):
in week one wasn't it was that Ryan? Then we
had last Lary. Last week was Growing Empire. Yea Quentin Macantole. Yeah,
good on your Quentin. That's good stuff. We're two from
two jeez with handing out of cash. I absolutely love it.
Speaker 2 (18:39):
I bet they all go through Keimmy's account as well,
like I think he got. I think he got pretty
punished on Saturday, so he's probably Sunday mornings, like got
punished and then had to wake up and spread out
another couple of hundred bucks. But it happens.
Speaker 1 (18:54):
Lucky you had something dish out.
Speaker 4 (18:55):
Mate.
Speaker 1 (18:55):
He's over at Mari Lago. He's not sure. Cash's all good?
Who have it under control? One thing we forgot to
mention last week. We're obviously going alongside acc and Boys
Trip to Vegas for the Warriors game over at March.
Warriors is going to turn it around, There's no doubt
about that. It's the next game that they've gotten. You
want to get involved with that. But also Boys Trip
(19:17):
are taking a trip to the Grand Final as well,
and we were supposed to promote it last week. But
if you are interested in going to the Grand Final.
Looks like the Panthers, the Storm, the Bulldogs might be there,
the Roosters may not be anymore. The Seagulls apparently are
a bit of a dark horse. But if you are interested,
Boys Trip are taking some people that you can get involved.
Speaker 2 (19:35):
Yeah, that's right, And they do the Saturday at the
races and last year I think Kimmy's went along and
run a little bit hunters club. Was it for the
Doncaster or was it for Thebsom Handicap? Not sure we
see Ibsom Handicap at that time that I can't remember,
but either one of those two races. But they got
a apparently they've got like a really wicked room at
(19:55):
Ramwick on the day they've run a little bit of
a punter's club. So I went to the horses on
Saturday night and then Sunday they went like done a
boat cruise and then went to the Grand Final as well.
Apparently it was just it was epic. So if you
want to go a Grand Final experience, go along.
Speaker 4 (20:11):
Hey, Pugsy, just on Boys Trip. They know how to
look after you. And we went with them to the
Magic Round over in Brazzy. The unbelievable. Dave and the
team are so good. They take care of everything. They
make sure you're at the right place at the right time,
even if yet maybe had a few lemonades and all that.
They're bloody great. So this sounds fantastic. You guys are
(20:32):
going on this trip. I'm incredibly jealous.
Speaker 1 (20:33):
Yeah, it would be outstanding. That Sydney trip that you're
talking about for the Grand Final doesn't sound much like
our Everest trip, boat cruises or this, and that it
was a stuck, you know, to ram work back to Stakus,
although I went to Bondi just because I got derailed
at some point during the day and it was yeah,
good times, funny.
Speaker 2 (20:52):
I got a get a video from me the other day.
He was driving past stuck a sceno funny enough.
Speaker 1 (20:56):
Yeah, absolutely weap and he got booted out a skirt.
Don't wonder if I remember first person ever, Holy shit,
we might see you go down at the Cup week hopefully. Mate.
I hope you're doing well out there if you are
listening in. Also just circling back on those events to
take a mate concept. We are keen and there will
be a little bit more information coming out about this
probably for the events at the second half of the year,
(21:17):
but we did talk about it a little bit this week,
and we really this season want to encourage people to
get people along who haven't necessarily been to horse racing
events or BGP events before. It doesn't really necessarily matter,
but as we all know, all you people out there
that are listening in the community, great people, you know
how good horse racing is, and you know, have a
(21:37):
think about how you can bring along. And we'll have
some ideas a little bit later on the season about
what we can do to get more people involved in
racing and with BGP as well, because yeah, this year
is a real springboard from last year from what's happened,
so it should be a bloody good one ahead.
Speaker 2 (21:53):
Yeah, yeah, definitely bring them mate.
Speaker 1 (21:55):
Right, let's get into the let's get into the racing
this weekend. Jeez, sometimes when you're talking about all this
cool stuff coming up in a few weeks, you actually
sort of get a little bit carried away and forget
that there's Group one racing this weekend. Keep your comments
coming in, everybody. We want to know who's winning the Tarzino.
We want to know what your best bets are. We'll
run through three three listed races and then we'll come
(22:17):
back to those comments. And Dan, mate, I started looking
at the form for particularly these three year old races.
We'll kick things off at the list of our rocker,
Colin Meads Trophy. What an absolute legend, no doubt, a
legendary horse is going to win this. Last year I
noticed that Taako won all three group races this day.
(22:38):
Tokyo Tycoon took out this race, Quintessa took out the
Gold Trial Steaks and skew Wiff took out the Tarzino.
Speaker 2 (22:45):
And Imperature is one in Australia that day.
Speaker 1 (22:48):
I reckon they could do that again. But let's see
what do you think, mate? Listed our rocket, Sir Colin
Meads Trophy.
Speaker 2 (22:54):
Mate, they've got a big opinion of this horse. Move
to strike and so do why And I've got a
few bucks riding on it for two thousand guineas. So
I think I'm speaking through my wallehead. But I'm hoping
that this horse comes out and just kicks their heads
in and moves into two dollars fifty to win the
two thousand guineas. But this is gonna be interesting. He
(23:15):
like I think there's a lot of speed here. Savagely
was really good fresh up, but I'm interested to see
how he goes second up. I listened to Pamdurard today
say that she thinks that he's come on quite well
from that run. So it's gonna be interesting to see
how he goes. Because he won that last race quite arrogantly.
(23:37):
I thought his ears were pricked and he was running
away from them, done it quite easily. I felt super
Poton is a serious horse, and I think they're quite
interested in taking this thing to the core field guineas,
which you would only do with a very serious horse.
But then you've got a horse like Poetic Champion who
can jump out and I mean he ran in the
(23:58):
best races last year. Ye. So for me, I'm going
to stick with move to shrike mainly through my wild
I'm going to hope that he just kicks their heads
in and storms a path to the two thousand guineas.
Speaker 1 (24:13):
Yeah, it's a from all the talk that Tarka had
about this horse last year and it ended up winning
the mon Or two size didn't it, and and won
like a freak. It was like a really really good race,
a really good looked like a really good horse, you
would think after them saying as well that it's going
to better be a better three year old, that yeah,
it should just come out and win this race, because
(24:35):
there's nothing from last year that really took the ball
by the horns and won any good races and won
any big races. So moved to shrike. I'm not surprised
is the favorite. You haven't mentioned Full Force at twenty
three dollars. I know it was pretty average first up,
but the Punter's Club had a crack at it. In
the Kadaka Millions. It was average first up, but you know,
(24:56):
I think it ended up running fourth in the Kadaka Millions,
didn't it? And it was there or there are in
quite a lot of races and twenty three dollars no interest,
not for me? Okay, all right, fair enough. What about
the track bias at Hawk's Bay last year? I think
we had a couple of heavy tracks in Day one
and Day two, and then in Day three it was
(25:17):
a heavy It was a front runners bias. The year before,
anytime it was a good track, it was a front
runners bias. I think it'll be the same again. You
mentioned to me before when we're having a beer at
the Brewers Cooperative over the road that they haven't raced
on the true rail since February this year, so surely
if it's a good track, the sun shining this rail
(25:38):
is going to be hot and old Poetic Champion on
debut last year absolutely blitz them, getting the trail and
winning easily.
Speaker 2 (25:45):
Yeah, but I think there's also a lot of that
can come down to tempo. Can be tempo related as well,
and so I think with horses like Savagely Savagely Sorry
and Poetic Champion and potentially even full Force as well,
maybe You'll go forward horses might set this race up
for someone to come over the top. I just thought
there was maybe quite a bit of hot pace early
(26:08):
which maybe set it up for either Move to Strike
or super Photon to come over the top.
Speaker 1 (26:12):
Nice. Nice, I like both those horses as well. I've
got a future's bed after you said, and Opie said,
actually at the tab launch where we didn't see Luke
in that ad that he's supposed.
Speaker 2 (26:22):
To be, he gets run over by a bus.
Speaker 1 (26:24):
I'm so excited to see him and we never did.
Opie said, Yeah, Moves to Strike is a good bet
for that race as well. I jumped on to I
see it's coming from six dollars to four dollars for
the two thousand guineas, so.
Speaker 2 (26:37):
Close to market, and they've said wait until we kick
their heads in this week and they'll move it into twos.
Speaker 1 (26:41):
You'd have to think, if it's that good, it's going
to win this race. And two dollars ten is probably
a really good price. But I'm not really keen to
bet on on on it at two dollars ten. I'm
gonna probably have a go up poetic champion at eight dollars.
Hopefully it can jump well if we can hold the
rail and it's a fast it's a fast rail. I
wonder if it can hold them out. I just yeah.
(27:02):
Even in the Kadaka Millions last year, I think it
finished fourth or somewhere there or thereabouts. It kept on
fighting really really hard. And then it's debut last year
as well, it got out and I think it beat
them by like six links. It was just out of
the blue. So I'm going to have a crack at
the eight dollars good? Why not? Right? Oh? Race number
(27:22):
seven is the Gold Trail Stakes, And if you thought
it gets easier It really really doesn't with these three
year old races. But I think one thing we can
both agree on is that we won't be having a
bit on Alabama Lass at one ninety five.
Speaker 2 (27:39):
No, absolutely not. I think it's way too short. Yeah,
I think the books have opened up at dollar ninety
it's drifted out to dollar ninety five. I'm pretty sure
you'll get two dollars fifty on race. They maybe even
three because they're going to come for some of these
other ones. Like you can't just drop Felocius on one run.
(28:00):
Had she got beaten by did she get booted by
captured by love or moved to strike maybe and it.
Speaker 1 (28:06):
Was bloody Bellatrick's start, that's right, I think moved to
stripe runs second in that race, and Belocius was third
on that weird track it at yeah.
Speaker 2 (28:15):
And and then she came out and look what she
done in the Karaka million.
Speaker 1 (28:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (28:20):
You can't just throw it off one. You can't throw
away on one run. I don't think all things went
away there at Talpo either, Like in the stools, she
like you know, jumped bucked at the gate and hit
her nose and then got taken out and got ve
checked and she was all fired up and very fresh.
So six dollars for a horse like verlocious group one
when a Karaka Million's winner, I mean, that seems like
(28:43):
outrageous overs for a horse like that, But I think
there's one that's at even crazier odds less crazy odds now.
But I whacked it early and that was the mask
grows at twenty six dollars. That was a bit of
me straight away. Med horse only had two starts one
(29:03):
it's first start and then run second in the Karaker
million and second only ever start. That's a serious horse
to go and do that. I know OPI's gone with
Captured by Love, but I just couldn't deny the value.
Now it's gone into eighteen's, but I still think eighteen
dollars is overs. I think this horse should be around
the ten dollar mark. I know it's fresh up against
the other ones that's had another run. I just think
(29:26):
this horse is a good horse, and at eighteen dollars
and three dollars sixty, I'd take the each way on that.
Speaker 1 (29:34):
Yeah, and the stables had some maybe your quiet chat
about this horse being a very good horse too. You're right,
it wasn't even supposed to be in the Karraker millions
last year, and then I think, unfortunately, all yeah, Ted's
horse got scratched and it came in and run second.
You don't just do that, all yeah, I opening it
(29:54):
at twenty six dollars. I mean as soon as you
mentioned that to me earlier, I thought, fuck, yeah, you're right,
I'm going to put some money out at an eighteen.
I mean, why not. It's a it's a what to
move pin? Like, yeah, ok OPI Boston's obviously the absolute
man and he's the best jockey in New Zealand. But
to move pins a bloody good jockey too, So you're
not really you know, you're not worried about the jockey
not doing giving it a good, good ride, you know.
(30:15):
So yeah, eighteen dollars. I still think that's really good money.
I agree with you and valocias six dollars. It's not
going to start at six dollars. This is that's just
absolutely crazy. This is a top quality horse. But I
probably thought that I liked the value of Captured by
Love as well, and just sticking along what I said
before about Taco taking out all three of these races
(30:36):
last year, I think they could do it again, and
I think maybe one or catch it captured by lovel
damask Rose could could win this and captured by Love
did race really really well last season. It was massive
in the system, mistakes behind Valocious almost getting it at
the line. It also beat Alabama Lass last year. So
why they've opened Alabama Lass at one ninety five and
(31:00):
catch it by Love at I don't think they even
opened it at four dollars, but they opened four point six.
I don't know. This horse has already been beaten by
Alabama Lass has drawn ten, catched by Love's drawn five.
And also you know it ran in a fourteen hundred
mintmeter breeders last year behind moved to strike. It looked
really really good, but just perhaps couldn't get the fourteen
hundred meters in that race. Moved to strike, blew them apart.
(31:23):
So yeah, OPI going on barrier five for me. That
all stacks up pretty nicely.
Speaker 2 (31:29):
Yeah, it's going to be interesting, funny enough. The new
segment that's going to be coming out on Fridays is
called Chat BGP, which is where we leverage Meta AI
to decipher out of all the comments that come in
from everyone's best bets? What is the best bet of
the weekend? How good is this? Yeah, so we're posting
that tomorrow, stay tuned. But at the moment it's Alabama.
Speaker 1 (31:51):
Lass that everyone likes.
Speaker 2 (31:53):
The consensus across you know, three hundred comments. Was that
based on AI? Was that that was?
Speaker 1 (32:00):
What are we missing there?
Speaker 2 (32:01):
Interesting? Well, I don't know. Maybe we've gotten to no idea.
We're talking about missing it.
Speaker 1 (32:06):
But it's a really fast, awesome things. But it's been
beaten by captured by love and Vilocious is one group
one Galla members doesn't won a group one.
Speaker 2 (32:16):
Maybe we're just here for pretty faces. Man, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (32:18):
Yeah, Ted goat and let us know, like is Ted
and the comments letting us know whale? What's going on here? Anyway? Mate?
So you're with Vilocious just to confirming you've got a
good bed on to mass Rows as well, because you
couldn't miss the odds.
Speaker 2 (32:31):
Yeah, I think that vlocious. I can't drop and I'll
take the six dollars. But yeah, I was. I was
all over twenty six dollars as soon as I've seen
that the mass Roads, I thought that was outstanding value.
I still think eighteen dollars is value. I think it
should be ten dollars.
Speaker 1 (32:47):
Absolutely. Archaic Smile was also very very good, very consistent
last year. You could see that going out and running
at least a place, although the place money is not
very good, but it could you know, perhaps when the
race at six dollars, this is the same Archaic Smiles
paying the same.
Speaker 2 (33:01):
As the Oh my god, I see that and you're like, what.
Speaker 1 (33:05):
Yeah, what is market? They know something that we don't know.
Let's just see Renovations has been going well too, and
sister Ping I think ran behind at top or ran
a nice finish, I can't remember who and behind and
that's at thirty one dollars. But yeah, who knows? This
is a there's some good value in this race. Let's
put it that way.
Speaker 2 (33:24):
Ran third behind Alabama Molss and Archaic Smile and right
ahead of Volocious.
Speaker 1 (33:30):
Yeah okay, yeah Vlocious. You can forgive that run. I
reckon it's going to be better than that, right anyway,
Let's move on. Good luck if you're having a good
crack at that, if you if you find the winner,
you're going to get some money. If it's if it's
not Alabama Lass, absolutely, yeah, jeez, good luck if you're
on Alabama. Lass right over the Tarzino Trophy Race nine
(33:51):
over fourteen one hundred meters and g was Dan the
tab and probably quite a lot of people think that
crow shitty, it's just gonna win this race.
Speaker 2 (34:03):
I think it's a pretty good horse. A after that
win in Rua Kaka carrying fifty killers, I think it
was giving away eight kilos to Master Faye. Now look,
Master Fade didn't come out and do all that well
last start. But masterfa is a pretty good horse. But
to give away eight kilograms and still have the will
(34:23):
to win his outstanding. I think a lot of people
thought that maybe this horse might be a little bit
tired after that run. It came out and had a
trial and man, he looked real good, like real good
in the trial. Looked like a horse that just wants
to go and win. I have a feeling that this
horse might be a superstar, and I think he might
(34:44):
go on and win the Golden Eagle. That's my feeling
at the moment. So I think that he is really good.
It's a big rap, but man, there are there's so
there's this is a minefield, like that's all the races
an absolute mindfil.
Speaker 1 (35:00):
That's why I can't believe cro Chitty is at two
dollars ten. Yeah, but that's obviously just how much they
think about that. I think this horse could be outstanding,
and maybe it is, but let's have a chat about
taking Crochitty out of the market. Okay, good luck. If
you want to have a go at two dollars ten,
that's fine, but take it out of the market.
Speaker 2 (35:15):
Take it out of the market, and you've got six
dollars a field.
Speaker 1 (35:19):
Yon ye.
Speaker 2 (35:22):
Bonnie Lass was outstanding last start, and it will. I
think the big difference now is we're going to be
going from the off track to a good track, so
we're going to see what actually is going to happen
with some of these horses now, because I don't think
all of them necessarily are going to work out the
same will go the same as what they did on
(35:42):
the good tracks. Bonnie Lass was really good. I thought
Skewer was outstanding. I thought y Tak was outstanding as well,
to come from so far back, and Pontura was really
good as well. Snazzy Tavy is coming back fresh up
fairly only trialed really impressively. There's so many here that
if you just pick the right one, you're gonna get
really good odds for top three or top four. And
(36:04):
we know in these early season group ones, and actually
all group ones, there's one that pops up in the
top three or top four that pays three or four
or five dollars, and you go, holy shit, how did
I miss that one? Why did I miss that one?
The one that I think that the punters have let
go too early is a horse called Punta. It's drawn ten,
(36:24):
so it's a little bit wide. I thought it was
outstanding fresh up in the Fox Bridge. You're now getting
thirty four dollars and six dollars fifty. Now, I'm not
saying go and bet on this horse to win, but
I'm going for a same race multi which is Crochetty
to win and Puntera top four, and you're getting ten dollars.
Speaker 1 (36:44):
That's a very good bet. Cro Cheitty's got to win, of.
Speaker 2 (36:47):
Course, Oh yeah, of course, yeah, there's a lot that's
got to happen. But I just, yeah, you're.
Speaker 1 (36:53):
Right about Punchura. Punchura got smoked with about three hundred
meters to go in that Fox Bridge plate and just
kept on coming afterwards, didn't it.
Speaker 2 (37:01):
So he was only like half a length or less
than half a length off. Why tacking?
Speaker 1 (37:05):
Yeah, and it kept on, it kept on winning last
season when we sort of didn't really expect it to.
So I think Luke's first comment and the chat actually
after that race was I'm not missing out on punchuring
in this season. But I wonder if he's having a
bet dollars I bet he has. He probably has a mate. No,
that's that's pretty good. Odd a ten dollars for crow
(37:26):
Chitty and Punturer. You talked about Bonnie Lass, and we
never talk about Bonnie Lass really on this podcast in
terms of having a bet on it. But Bonnie last
bet cro Chitty in the BCD group sprint last year
over fourteen hundred meters on a good track. Why can't
it do it again?
Speaker 2 (37:43):
It probably can. I think the difference is and the
weight difference as well is huge because I think potentially,
because he was a three year old, she might have
been giving away two killers or a killer or something
to him potentially in the BCD.
Speaker 1 (37:57):
Groups didn't look at the words.
Speaker 2 (38:00):
So now it's the other way round where he's giving
her a kilo and a half. So it's like, well,
that's a big swing in weights. Yeah, but also he's
now a four year old and he looks big, bold
and strong. There's a big difference between being you know,
a three year old and then having that spell and
coming back as a four year old.
Speaker 1 (38:17):
Definitely looked in good neckt I've just tried to open
my Oh thanks mate, it's good stuff. Definitely looked at
good neck at the trials like parks. You're on fire, mate,
Thank you so much outstanding that shit, you know, I mean,
you know when you really need to wit the whistle
and there's fucking it's not a screw top beer what
kind of things that anyway.
Speaker 2 (38:37):
So where you go, let's get this back on track.
Where are you going?
Speaker 1 (38:41):
Oh look, I'm going to go. We're right outside the box.
Just because I looked at it and I found it
very very hard. I thought, y tak top four from
Barrier one at two dollars fifteen is pretty good money.
But two thirty five now, oh yeah, oh shit, okay,
I missed that. Yeah, two fifteen. I thought that was
pretty good money. Like you said in the Fox Bridge,
I thought it was a really good run. I've just
seen Sacred Setona that we haven't been talked about. It
(39:02):
doesn't go on a heavy track, and well it kind
of does. But that's a really good horse too.
Speaker 2 (39:07):
I three.
Speaker 1 (39:09):
I watched this horse, Blissful Bell last season, built up
from rating seventy five up to up to open handicaps
and then into the New Zealand Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes, where
I think it ran a third behind Bell Clare on
a good track and it was finishing really, really strongly.
It's a local horse trained by John Barry, who is
(39:33):
a similar horse to what Call Sign Mav was when
it won this race four years ago. Now three years ago,
now out of nowhere I think at like sixty one
dollar odds or something like that. Whit track A yeah,
that might have been a heavy track, yeah, but Blissful
Bell probably wants a good track. From what I can gather.
It ran eight races last year and only twice was
it out of the placings, and it was third in
that group that group one Thoroughbred Breeders Straight at stakes.
(39:56):
It trilled really nicely, just behind Crow Chitty last week
as well. I'm not saying it can win it, but
I reckon top four at four dollars. Sam Sprat's in
great form and Barius seven. It should get a great spot.
I see it's gone out from twenty one to thirty
four dollars, so hopefully it keeps going out. I just
love this race so much and I don't know really
what to bet on because I'm not keen to take
(40:17):
croach Idiot two ten that I'm going to watch it
and just have a top four bed on Blissful Bell
at four dollars.
Speaker 2 (40:22):
Yeah, because even like you know, skew If we haven't
spoken about too much, but she won this race last year,
and you know we talk about the Mark Walker factor,
samwig dident last year they won those three races like
they could easily come out and go bang bang bang,
and then you go, oh, ship, how's that happening. Yeah,
it's happened, because it happens all the time. But then
(40:42):
even ones like Grail Secle and that trailed huge the
other day. Yeah, it was an absolute fucking menace coming
down the trailer. You're like, oh wow, okay, well literally
cro Chitty two dollars ten. I think it deserves to
be that price because I think it's a really good horse.
But in reality, I think if I think every single
one of these horses can win this race.
Speaker 1 (41:03):
It could. Yeah, yeah, I totally agree. The only horse
we haven't mentioned is Jerry Extrics that went over to
Australia in one races last year.
Speaker 2 (41:09):
Too, so it can win.
Speaker 1 (41:10):
It can win. Yeah, yeah, it's really really hard. I
think we'll get a better line of it. You mentioned
Skew Skew Whiff. Last year's Foxbridge was quite similar. This year.
It looked like were two hundred meters to go. It
was the winner. Bonnie last got up. Skew with finished
third close the year before, just got beaten by Dragon
Leap in the Fox Bridge and then went out and
(41:32):
won the fox Bridge really really well. It got a
beautiful run, open bost and let it go and it
won really nicely. The same thing could happen again, and
Taiaco were really happy with its run from the fox
Bridge too, So yeah, I think that's I was just
sort of looking at it going, nah, man, I'm not
going to bet on a winner here, like, I can't
do that.
Speaker 2 (41:49):
So see how you go throughout the day and if
you've got some extra funds in your came maybe you
just throw something at your life.
Speaker 1 (41:55):
Yeah, exactly, Yeah, see exactly, and also the track by
us as well, like if if it is going to
be won by the leaders you mentioned why Tech Barrier
one the stable sounds like they're going to go forward.
Sacred Tono might get a good spot. Just any of
those horses that will look to get Ford Bonnie Less
will probably look to go forward. So so it's bloody
(42:16):
hardware let us know who well, actually, no, let's find
out what people think. Sorry, pugs, if I'm if, I'm
putting you at short notice here, but no, you're good.
Let's find out what everybody else thinks is going to
win the crowd the Tarzina.
Speaker 3 (42:28):
It's funny that you're about to say crow Chitty just then,
because there's a lot of love for crow Chitty.
Speaker 4 (42:32):
We've got Diane tore Kiv Kelly says a crow Chitty,
why Tech and Sacred to.
Speaker 3 (42:39):
Tono try.
Speaker 1 (42:42):
Pay good money.
Speaker 3 (42:42):
He he love for crow Chitty.
Speaker 4 (42:44):
Perhaps no bigger fan than Scott Evans, who says my
penis is hard for throw Chitty. In the main event,
naraus is that it bit in Lord Wyburn as the
roughie who was narais, Who's who's got the best bit
for the Scott Evans. Scott Evans there he's done as all.
Speaker 2 (43:03):
In one comment on.
Speaker 1 (43:03):
The live is he the hardens or.
Speaker 3 (43:07):
It's Scott with the hard penis He's.
Speaker 1 (43:09):
Gonna have a good weekend. Carter is also.
Speaker 4 (43:13):
Wondering if Bonnie Lass is going to push the early
pace again like last time he beat Crow Chitty.
Speaker 1 (43:19):
Probably, I think so, based on what we know from
the previous few seasons at Hawk's Bay and the and
the Hot Track, you would have thought that.
Speaker 4 (43:27):
Brad says, get on Lincoln lou to run top four
and Heat one of the series. Stakes are six at
alex Park tomorrow night.
Speaker 1 (43:38):
Who's going to win?
Speaker 3 (43:41):
I've got Dean here, River Plate Race seven, more Ville.
I feel like these are all we've also got. Let's
have a look gives his y tech will win?
Speaker 4 (43:52):
Ye?
Speaker 1 (43:52):
Okay?
Speaker 4 (43:52):
And then a couple for Blissful Bell there, yes, a
blissful Bell by five.
Speaker 1 (43:58):
Well just carry it away? Yeah, but yeah, I like
blissful Belly. You go, I've got some. I got some
back up there. Then what do you reckon it bus
for Bell?
Speaker 2 (44:11):
No, I think it's a Honestly, that race is a minefield.
I just got've gone through and I've just said it
on what I think is like, all right, I think
there's value there and punter a top four and croachitty
to win, so I'll just take that ten dollars I
think is awesome value or take that and hopefully I'm
right and if I'm not, cool, I watched really good
(44:32):
race and I'll be really excited about it.
Speaker 1 (44:34):
Absolutely, mate, beautiful work. Thank you very much for everybody
out there in the community that has made a comment
on who they think is going to win the Tarzi,
you know, and the best bets. We'll get those to
those shortly. Thanks very much, Pugs, great work, mate, Dan.
Anything else that you like this weekend before we crack
on into the best bets?
Speaker 2 (44:50):
I do. I've got a couple that I really like
or not really like, but there was one that I
almost made my best bet. But this race is also
like the Tarzi. Know, it's a bit of a mind field,
and it's raced one at Hastings and you've got horses
like Investigate High Country Don Palley. I mean, there's some
really good horses in there, and then you've got ones
like Sunset Boulevard who's only had three starts. But it's
(45:12):
actually nominated for the New Zealand Cup. But I went
a little bit further down and I found a horse
called mood Changer. Now this is only a three start
horse as well. It's two starts as a three year old.
It raced really unkindly and to be honest, didn't look
like a horse that wanted to be anywhere near there.
It came back. It's a Richie Murray stable as well,
(45:34):
but it's come back and it's had its first start
over fifteen fifty on the synthetic and it won really impressively.
I think it came from last and run over the
top of them at one at Cambridge synthetic and looks
like a horse that is maybe like sort of figured
it out and it's going to go on with it.
You're getting ten dollars and three dollars ten top four.
(45:54):
I'm sure you're getting at least two dollars in two
dollars thirty, So I would take I would take this
horse ten dollars to win two dollars thirty top four,
mood Changer, I reckon it's got a is it a
bonus race? It is a bonus back race.
Speaker 1 (46:09):
Don't bother with the top four fine, Yeah.
Speaker 2 (46:12):
Jack fifty bucks on the win and let's see how
it goes.
Speaker 1 (46:14):
That's your strategy, isn't it. Do you do top four
bits if you've got a bonus back race, do you
do that?
Speaker 2 (46:17):
Well? Yeah, because then you get the bonus bit and
you get your mouth.
Speaker 1 (46:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (46:23):
So that's that's one that I've got. The other one
that I have and this is one of my favorite horses.
And funny enough, I messaged the guys today and I said,
I've made a rogue bit here, lads. I've put fifty
dollars on this horse to win the Melbourn Cup. His
name is Strathdey's a few times the nominations just came
(46:47):
out from the Melbourn Cup. This horse is paying two
hundred and one dollars to win the Melbourne Cup. And
I know that's far fetched and outrageous and crazy and
there's no way it can happen, but I thought, give
it to go. It's last two starts over twenty four
hundred It's last fifty meters have been the most impressive
part of it its races. Last start was the first
(47:10):
time that it's been on a good track, so it's
been soft or heavy. It looked really impressive last start
over twenty four hundred. This time now it's going up
to an open race of getting to carry a lot
less way than what it has been, but stepping well
up in class. But over the twenty four hundred watch out.
(47:31):
I think strath Day is going to put them in
a body bag. I think it's already taken. I think
it's already taken.
Speaker 1 (47:35):
Money in the Melbourne Capital this week.
Speaker 2 (47:37):
No this week?
Speaker 1 (47:38):
Yeah, yeah, two dollars fifty it was, I think, gay.
Speaker 2 (47:40):
Yeah, it's already taken money. I think it's in a
two thirty five. Maybe you absolutely love a futures bet.
I do love a futures bet. Yeah, so while we're
on that, if you've went some extra cash, maybe you
get some money off my best bet this week, go
and have a little nibber one Chevelle defondu de fondue
(48:04):
or chere, but yeah, you call it what you want
and Cheval defadre to win the New Zealand Cup. I
think it's sixty one dollars.
Speaker 1 (48:16):
I think it was sixty one? Was it's worth a crack?
Oh yeah? Do not have an head of lock, but
I'm going yeah, I think.
Speaker 2 (48:21):
It was sixty one dollars and like, I mean, there's
there's a lot of time between now and the New
Zealand Cup.
Speaker 5 (48:26):
But last year I think, who do we go for
last year and the New Zealand Cup. Yeah joke, it
came out and won recently. Yeah it was first past
the post and all sorts of Yeah.
Speaker 2 (48:36):
Man, we had all sorts of like between our room,
we must have had five ten grand on it and
we didn't get paid. But this year we're going to
get paid. This year we're going to get Saturday, the
second or third Saturday in November cheval def dre sixty
one dollars, have a little have a little nibble and
that you can play Top three as well. I don't
(48:58):
even know if it's going to make it. I think
the intension is to go there, but I think it's
good enough.
Speaker 1 (49:02):
I'm going to have a crack at Chivelde Fond like that. Yeah,
you've just gone through a fair bit there, but I
just I did have a couple of points there. Hastings
Race one, I agree, I think that's an outstanding race.
A horse in there, investigate that. Opie Bostom's on last
year ran second behind out of stock in the one
or two Classic and then out of Stock went on
to run when the when the Sydney something rather was
(49:24):
it the Derby or the Cap or something like that?
Remember out of Stock went over there? Did it win anything?
We got totally wrong? It really well?
Speaker 2 (49:31):
Yeah, I don't know if I can't remember if it
won over there, but that investigate I think maybe it's
looking for a little bit more into sixty two kilos
is a lot fresh up. Yeah, I'm looking forward to
over the over the sixteen hundred.
Speaker 1 (49:43):
Yeah, looking forward to seeing it this season. And you
mentioned the Melbourne Cup, sharp and smart, it's going to
win the Melbourne Cup. What's that pay?
Speaker 2 (49:50):
I don't really have a look at I'll have a
better enough.
Speaker 1 (49:52):
I just tried to find it. But we just we
talked about it before, didn't we. It's finished and the
Foxbridge plate was outrageous from ten links off them and
at the corner. Yeah, really found the line. It was funny.
Speaker 2 (50:03):
It was like it was not even interested until like
the six hundred. Yeah, it's just like, oh right, I
got a race.
Speaker 1 (50:08):
Yeah, and then it was after the line, it was
about third, about one hundred meters or fifteen meters after
the line. It was third from ten links off them.
Speaker 2 (50:14):
That was awesome.
Speaker 1 (50:15):
Absolutely love that. So get on for the Melbourn Cup
of it. Is Roger going to get it in there?
Is it in?
Speaker 2 (50:20):
Well?
Speaker 1 (50:20):
Probably surely? Hey yeah, hey as Strathy there's a house.
There's a horse in there called Tappy Doodle Doo from
Kerry Taplan. That's also Erounnic hopefully a Tappy Doodle don'ty
Doodle who was trained by Kerry Taplan from the South Island.
Is Kerry Taplan still training in the South Island or
have you got any knowledge of this? No?
Speaker 2 (50:40):
Are you throw me under the bus?
Speaker 1 (50:42):
I thought you read all sorts of horse racing articles and.
Speaker 2 (50:46):
Not about doodles. What a name.
Speaker 1 (50:49):
I absolutely love it. It's a South Island South Island
horse that's racing over there now. Ramwick Race nine Molly
Bloom is lining up this week, first up for Chris Waller.
Not sure if you saw that that's in the Tramway
Stakes group to It's banging about thirty bucks, which is
highly offensive for a horse like Molly Bloom.
Speaker 2 (51:07):
Very offensive considering Quintessa came out and blouse them last week.
Speaker 1 (51:14):
I would have thought that that's a bit of horse
than a thirty one dollar horse, isn't it Amelia's jewels
in the race. But we're never bidding on that.
Speaker 2 (51:21):
Well, surely you'd take the two point seven and try
and make some of that money back, mate, horse, there's
some good horses in here. Yeah, well, never I need
to look. I'll need to look for a little bit more.
Speaker 1 (51:31):
But never been on Amelias jiel Ever Corfield Race five,
Dessert Lightning with Peter Moody. Peter Moody as lighting up
as well. We hadn't actually realized that it had been
imported over to Australia. But Dessert Lightnings now standing horse
and I'm really looking forward to seeing what it does
on Saturday Corfield or is it Many Valley? No Corfield
(51:52):
Saturday Mooney Valley. Then I've edited my notes from last
week and not changed the.
Speaker 2 (51:58):
Actually quite like Arconsall Ladder that one. But yeah, Desert Lightning,
I think they retired right trainers, Yeah they did, and
so yeah, obviously gone over to Peter Moody. Yeah, be
interesting to see how he goes. I think this horse
will pick up a really nice race over there.
Speaker 1 (52:17):
Around in the All Star Male last year, didn't it
with Punctura.
Speaker 2 (52:21):
Yeah it did, just didn't Yeah, maybe gone come to
the end of it. Maybe, But you know, like he's
been impressive a couple of times, didn't he beat Legato?
Speaker 1 (52:32):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (52:34):
Yeah, So I think he'll pick up a nice one.
I just I'm not sure you'll pick up this one
over twelve, Right?
Speaker 1 (52:39):
What about cor Mooney Valley Race Race nine? I wish
I win as back? What do we got here? We've
got a group one, the Moir, the Moyer Steaks. Yeah right, okay,
I wish I won it four or fifty leading into
the Everest in a few weeks time, can we get on?
I wish I went down.
Speaker 2 (52:56):
Or I'm I'm staying away into I'm gonna punt it
for the everything. I mean, they're aiming for the Everest.
There's so much money on the line. He's got this start,
one more and then the Everest. So there's this start
three weeks, second start, three weeks Everest. Okay, so I'll
be I'll be just waiting because you know, as much
(53:18):
as this is a group one, and I'm sure they'd
love to win it, then I'm gonna they're gonna burn
a horse.
Speaker 1 (53:22):
To win this.
Speaker 2 (53:24):
When there's twenty million bucks on the line in six weeks.
Speaker 1 (53:29):
Patients is a virtue, says the rac man. Right, let's
get to the best bets from the community to start with.
Who's who's everybody got the best bet this week in packs.
Speaker 3 (53:38):
There's a whole lot here. Man, it was like one
hundred and fifty five.
Speaker 1 (53:42):
I'm not going to get through all of them.
Speaker 3 (53:43):
Somebody says Swiko, makes him, says Swiko.
Speaker 4 (53:46):
Race won at morphort for Morphortville on Saturday, the Aussie
debut for Michael Heckmett.
Speaker 2 (53:52):
There you go.
Speaker 1 (53:53):
That's gonna be Yeah.
Speaker 3 (53:54):
Yeah, A couple of people wonder that one you like, Darren,
says Hastings. Race eight Havati a Varti.
Speaker 1 (54:00):
There all two of.
Speaker 2 (54:03):
Right, Okay, it's a three way challenge.
Speaker 4 (54:05):
Speaking of Hastings, Tim Rekins Victor the inflictor for race three.
Speaker 3 (54:10):
It's quite good.
Speaker 1 (54:11):
Do Youingre's name does in? Victor Matfield Pugs.
Speaker 4 (54:13):
I don't know who that is, the old South African
lock Ah, probably quite possibly.
Speaker 3 (54:18):
I mean you've got inflictor Victor just rhymes well.
Speaker 4 (54:22):
Joe Reckins Hastings Race two number two, Naraus win into
Randwick Race eight number ten, zar Dozy wins getting greedy.
The weather is outstanding here in the Mighty Hawk's Bay.
Let's get springs started. That's Joe there. What else we
got in?
Speaker 3 (54:37):
Oh, I'm not even going to try to read that spelling.
Hastings Race five set.
Speaker 4 (54:42):
How did you say before sevagely savagely savagely won so
well at topaul and can repeat.
Speaker 3 (54:47):
That's from scott.
Speaker 4 (54:50):
Woodville Sunday Race ten. Let's get loose number nine that's
from Colleen.
Speaker 1 (54:57):
Sounds like this horse on this table here getting loose.
Speaker 4 (55:00):
Jordan, same race, Maulti Hastings Race nine, Crow Chitty win
and Forraglioni top four.
Speaker 1 (55:08):
Okay, similar lines to you, Dan, Yeah, trild well fairly?
One more pugs? What do we got made?
Speaker 4 (55:14):
One more?
Speaker 3 (55:14):
One more renovations into Bonnie Less win multi that's from Brent.
Speaker 1 (55:19):
Okay, it's going to pay about one thousand dollars renovations.
I think that he's also left another comment.
Speaker 3 (55:23):
It's called wishful thinking.
Speaker 1 (55:27):
There's going to be a balance when you and Luke
choose who's going to win that hundred dollars, because you
don't want to just put it on something that's going
to pay.
Speaker 2 (55:34):
Well, I've no, I've been trying to make it really unbiased.
So last week I just let my wife scroll through
the comments and yeah, because it's just like then I'm
not having my own opinion on what I think can
win and can't win. It's like you just scroll through
a new pick one and tell me what it is.
Speaker 1 (55:49):
So now people know that, do they have to you know,
put names, think of names towards what your wife might
like or.
Speaker 2 (55:56):
They could do. I mean, the challenge is that the
first two she picked were on Friday night. That's the
races that already got you can't. So hopefully next week
we might actually even pick one on Friday to give
the Harness lads a crack.
Speaker 1 (56:12):
Yeah good sounds good.
Speaker 2 (56:14):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, absolutely right.
Speaker 1 (56:16):
Keep your comments coming in. When will that be one
hundred dollars bet be given out dan tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (56:19):
Afternoon before midday tomorrow for.
Speaker 5 (56:22):
Mid day tomorrow, so you've still got a little bit
of time before midday Saturday, Saturday.
Speaker 1 (56:26):
Get ages. It's Thursday. Okay, keep commenting, keep coming to right,
let's get to the community's best bets. But before we
do do that, of course, we've got the surge Dodds
it's not boosted anymore. It's surged odds of the blessed
bit this weekend, Dan, we are hopefully hoping to continue
some momentum from last weekend. What is the blessed beit?
Speaker 4 (56:48):
Mate?
Speaker 2 (56:48):
The blessed beit this week mate? We're going with wits
end and if it's the end of the day at
Hayestings and you've been punished and you're at your wits end,
this is the one you want to dive into. Draws
well and has to carry a bit of weight. First
up today trialed up pretty well and this horse goes
good at Hastings and goes good on a good track
as well, goes very good fresh up second to Grail
(57:10):
Seculin the Wellington Guineas in this last I think it
was actually a favorite for the Guineas in this race
for another one and I think we'll be two good
too soon and hopefully guess the boys paid absolutely.
Speaker 1 (57:23):
You just read out one of the descriptions of the
best bet, so we'll let you know whose best bet
that is. But that is Yeah, what's end Race ten
Hastings the Harness.
Speaker 2 (57:32):
Halo four point two out of five point five.
Speaker 1 (57:34):
Yeah, that's good money. Age it's good money on the
odd stage. I find that on the future page. By
the way, the Harness Halo this week.
Speaker 2 (57:42):
Yeah, Harness Hayler Queen of Swords to run top two
two point three five out to three dollars. This has
already taken money. There's someone in the community that owns
a piece of this and I think he's put the
put together a syndicate that own this horse. But it's
actually run second or third. I think it's a place
get in a group one behind Ducks, duch As Mexits.
(58:02):
I think at Alexander Park last year, this is a
good horse and I think it's come back well, they're
pretty confident it's come back and trilled well, good trainer,
good driver. And to run top two two or thirty
five outs three dollars surged, I think is pretty I
think it's pretty good value and I think the lads
(58:24):
are pretty confident around this one.
Speaker 1 (58:26):
Yeah. When it went in the chat last night, all
three or four of Markham, Gasso, SCA men and FITSI
all were pretty happy with that, were they?
Speaker 2 (58:34):
Yep?
Speaker 1 (58:34):
I think so yeah, absolutely, it's worth having a great right.
Let's get to the best bets this weekend. We're going
to kick off with the harness. We'll start at Addington
on Friday night. The scan Man is going to race
to Princess Sadie fresh up, but finds a suitable race
to kickoff her campaign, racing some strong fields last prep
and is coming into this off the back of a
(58:55):
nice trial when last week she's gate speed so from
the will probably end up in a prominent spot early.
Looks a nice win bet in her first up run
from a spell. That's the scan Man. Addington Race two
Tomorrow night.
Speaker 2 (59:10):
Princess Sadie nice one in Fitzie's best bet Addington Meeting eight,
Race eight your harness halo this week. The Queen of
Swords resumes today after a break. Tried well last week
and suggests she can kick off here where she left
off last prep. Bias as I owner, but that's allowed.
(59:31):
I think why draw gets a better price looking to
qualify only for the Group one final one cup day
informed driver, driver inform, trainer get on.
Speaker 1 (59:43):
Right, great work. Gaso's best is methven Sunday. Have we
got the odds out for that yet?
Speaker 5 (59:48):
Down?
Speaker 2 (59:49):
Not out yet tomorrow? I think or Saturday morning.
Speaker 1 (59:51):
Shit, it's dangerous when Gaso puts a bed out before
the ods come out, isn't it?
Speaker 2 (59:55):
Send that to the TV as well? He said, Can
I have tens? I think they're going to give him fall?
Speaker 5 (59:59):
Fuck?
Speaker 1 (01:00:00):
It does happen, doesn't it?
Speaker 5 (01:00:02):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (01:00:02):
Well, guess I was looking at meth n Sunday Race
one Destiny's during gate fly that gets an eye of
the all drawer over the sprint distance. We'll appreciate the
grass track and drive it in far fine form. I've
never won a bet on the grass hunnas, so hopefully,
guess on Sunday they can.
Speaker 2 (01:00:19):
Get you there. Ten. Absolutely, I'll go Markham's best meth
and race ten going on Sunday as well. Chance on me.
Two starts in the track for a winn and a
placing loves a stands start and a cracking trial whin
on the same surface last weekend has a ready to
rock and roll this week. Let's go keep going mate,
All right, Okay, we'll jump into my Hanna's best. Alexander
(01:00:43):
Park Race six Confederate Huge Fresh Up. Didn't do a
lot of work, but this horse came A horse came
back on it at about the three hundred, which actually
cost it a few lengths. It finally got out and
then it flew up the passing, landing within half a
length of the winner. Now, this horse has drawn nine
(01:01:04):
on Friday night at Alexander Park, so it's gonna need
a little bit of luck. But often in these races
they tend to spread out a little bit, and I
think the three door eighty I think is overs, and
I think this horse might be the best horse in
this race. You just getting a price, nice mate.
Speaker 1 (01:01:20):
Spreading out in the harness field, it doesn't seem familiar
and normally might get boxed in.
Speaker 2 (01:01:25):
Look, it could happen, but I think the three point
out is overs.
Speaker 1 (01:01:27):
Where you really want them was in the one one.
Speaker 2 (01:01:30):
That's where you really We're in the trail, Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:01:32):
The trailer, that's the spot. Then the Captain crunch that's
not this one.
Speaker 2 (01:01:36):
I don't Yeah, all right.
Speaker 1 (01:01:37):
Okay, let's get to the gallops best bets, and I'm
feeling very confident after a few other punters have put
this as their best bet this week. I'm going to
Hastings race to Nearaeus. It's a very very tight marker
and Narrayus has been crunched in.
Speaker 2 (01:01:52):
Gee was even.
Speaker 1 (01:01:53):
Yesterday when I saw it. It was three sixty, it
opened up at four twenty. It's now two dollars seventy.
This horse won four races last year as a four
year old, including a Group two. I think it was
the Awapuoni Gold Cup. Pretty tough conditions that it had
first up at rua Kaka, so we'll forgive that and
look at it's lethal second up record where it's two
from two. It gets a winnable wait this race. And
(01:02:15):
I did read yesterday that the trainers are looking to
take it to Melbourne, so they need to get it
up in the ratings, and that means it's ready to
go this race because they really need it to win
to get over there, so it should be ready to go.
It's a good horse OPI's on board, it's got the
blinkers on where it's one from one, and it's more
than capable of stealing with this pretty small field and
a bonus back race. So I think you can bet
(01:02:35):
pretty comfortably into Narraeus love it.
Speaker 2 (01:02:38):
Love that horse my best bet at the gallops on Saturday,
Hastings Race number eight in Afetti. I've been waiting for
this horse to return. I've got it in the futures
market for the tab Classic, which is on the Wednesday
now of New Zealand Cup week. Richie Murray Temy going well,
a good trial and the synthetic it's drawn seven and
it tends to jump really well and get it. It's
(01:03:00):
off in a good spot. It's in for a big season.
And even though I've been told that I'm dreaming and
I'm an idiot, I wouldn't be surprised if this horseman's
a group won this season. Just quietly.
Speaker 1 (01:03:10):
Fantastic mate. You did label that horse a couple of
weeks ago as a Group one winner, so that is
good that you're sticking with it. Kemmy's is going to
Race ten wits End, as we mentioned as the blessed
bet get on board. Luke is three from three already.
He picked out the Blessed bet last week. His best
bets have all come home, so Luke definitely has his
eye on earlier this season Race ten wits End. I'm
(01:03:32):
gonna sit you up here, Dan and leave you with
the Goat's best bet, so I'll read out Ted's best bet,
which is Hasting's. Race four promised land nice fresh up
run at Tarapa and was second up getting a good
price right, Elliott on top and he's been riding well
this went into the goats. Sorry to Ted's black Book
from two or three weeks ago at Tadarpa. So yeah,
(01:03:52):
it's really nice. Odes I think it was at about
six dollars when we saw it. Promised land race four.
Dan's what races go going to.
Speaker 2 (01:04:01):
The Goat's going to head their head with me and
I'm looking to looking forward to go head to head
with him. It's you know, like you learn a listen
every now and then, and I'm hoping I'm not going
to learn a lesson this weekend. But he's going to
Hastings Race eight Candle. It has a good record, fresh
and been unlucky more times than Fitsy. On a Friday
night at Calendar Girls, a few scratchings will see the
(01:04:21):
price drop.
Speaker 1 (01:04:22):
Get on you've added in Calendar Girls part of that day.
Who you've just thought about? That's what I got told
a little bit impromps you. That is outstanding. Good on
your Fitsy, Good on you go, Good on you everybody.
Thank you very much for your best bits and good
luck if you're having a crack at those the harness Halo,
the blessed Bits and all of the lads top four
multi those up. It'll pay you a hell of a
lot if they all come. And why not have a
(01:04:43):
crack Dan. It's been outstanding tonight as always. Really can't
wait for for day one of the Spring Carnival. We've
got the tickets coming out probably tomorrow over the next
few days for kicking the bun tomorrow Monday. Yep, good stuff, right,
keep your eyes out for best at BGP and the
Friday phillup that'll be coming to you over the next
couple of days. I think at this point in time
(01:05:04):
we might be back where we're going to be back
for the second day of the Spring Carnival, if not
the first day of Allesley in two weeks time, So
we'll let everybody know about that. What are you doing
for your day? For your day on Saturday? Mate?
Speaker 2 (01:05:15):
No idea, Mate, No, I doubt I'm going to be
able to go to the Alex Parker and punish myself
with bears for today again. But I'll yeah, like I'll
be watching the racing. I'll probably go out and do
a bit of kid admin in the morning and go,
you know, take the kids out and playground and do
a whole bunch of stuff in the morning so that
I can maybe get home and say, all right, it's
time to sit on the couch and watch them racing.
Speaker 1 (01:05:37):
Beautiful. There are some very very good racing pugs. It's
been good to have you here, mate, Thank you very much.
You've done an outstanding job. And enjoy your mother's sixtieth
birthday down and Kinlock this weekend.
Speaker 3 (01:05:47):
Thank you very much. Man, should be a good time away.
Speaker 1 (01:05:49):
Appreciate it. Thanks for having me, enjoy a few champagnes.
Good on your mate. I am unfortunately or fortunately heading
down to Mount Monganui this Saturday, which is going to
be beautiful, but I'll generally be driving for most of
the racing and I'm gonna have to catch some replays
on Saturday night, sadly so, but believe about that. Yeah, well,
