Speaker 1 (00:00):
Roto. Welcome back to the Monday Recap.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
We took a week off last week.
Speaker 1 (00:06):
I was feeling a little bit under the weather, but
I'm back this week and I'm feeling good. It was
a great weekends racing Snazzy Tavvy. How good is she?
We'll go into that in a little bit more detail
and a bit and she was. Between the podcast and
the Monday Recap, we've been finding some black bookers and
so if you've been listening and paying attention, you should
(00:28):
have had a few winners over the weekend and some
good prices as well. So we'll jump right into it
now as well, and we'll review some of the Blessed
Bet and the Harness Halo.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
Firstly, we'll start with the Harness.
Speaker 1 (00:41):
Halo on Friday night, and man, I feel like we
can't catch a break with some of these some of
these harness bits that we've been having the Harness Halo,
I feel like we're really hard done by last on
Friday night, I'm Sandra d.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
You had the barrier draw.
Speaker 1 (01:00):
She just didn't show any gate speed and in the
end ended up being parked for the trip After drawing
barrier three. She looked she stuck on really gamely and
fought bravely for third. But unfortunately for the Harness Haley,
we had a top two and just the leader in
the one on the trail got away from us in
(01:21):
the strait and they ended up getting us by maybe
just a little over a length.
Speaker 2 (01:26):
So a little bit disappointing there.
Speaker 1 (01:28):
I'm s undred d didn't run top two, But we'll
go again next week and we'll see what we.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
Can find for the Harness Halo.
Speaker 1 (01:36):
For a Friday, Phillip the Blessed Bet was a tough
watch for the Blessed Bet this week. I thought One
Bold Cat went so well at in the Arrowfield that
I thought it was a great bet to go for
top three. And things sort of looked like it went
(01:57):
its way, like it got itself into a good spot,
into a good rhythm, and then when it came out
on the corner, it just didn't quite have the zip
that it had in the Arrowfield, didn't really finish off
its race, So you know, I kind of get the
feeling like it might have run its race a week
and a half earlier in the Arrowfield. But I think
(02:18):
we'll follow one Bold Cap because yeah, we'll see through
some of the other group one two thousand media races,
maybe like the Zabiel Classic, etc. I think that's a
horse that we can follow moving forward, just was in
its day. But however, the roy or the Blessed bet
in the Harness Halo, we do it based on putting
(02:38):
one unit bet per week, and so we do the
bet minus the investment and that equals our units of profit.
And so if you put a bet on the Blessed
bet every week since we started this season, you would
have seven point two units of profit so far. So
going really strongly, if you had one hundred dollars every week,
(02:58):
you'd actually have seven one hundred and twenty dollars worth
of profit so far. And unfortunately, the Harness Halo is
negative five units, so if you put one hundred dollars
on it every week.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
You would be down five hundred dollars.
Speaker 1 (03:12):
But it's a long season and there's plenty of good
racing to come, particularly with things like New Zealand Cup
Week etc.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
Coming up.
Speaker 1 (03:20):
I'm sure the harness lads will fire up and find
us some winners. Right, we'll go in now and we'll
have a quick review of some of the best bets
and we'll start with the scan Man on Friday and
he had Warlock and look this holl's got a nice
trip and almost everything went to plan. He might have
just had to go a little bit earlier on the
(03:42):
corner and then he wanted to he had to sort
of jump out almost on the back straight and go
forward because the ones in front of him didn't look
like that we're going to get him to the straight,
and so he ended up having to come around and
sort of parked for that last four or five hundred,
which wasn't huge, but I think it was the undoing.
(04:03):
He's the kind of horse that needs that perfect trip
and can boom over the top of them with one
sort of short, sharp, sustained sprint. But he yeah, he
had to do a little bit more work than say,
I think that we wanted to.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
But we got a good price.
Speaker 1 (04:19):
So if you had the each way value on him,
you would have got your money back plus a little
bit of profit as well. With the Scanman's best bet,
he's done well to find that one. There a horse
that's had eighty five starts. He almost got us paid.
Gasso's best was Addington Race number seven, Cold Chisel, and
I think you could just sort of forget that run
(04:42):
that had a flat tire and things looked just didn't
go its way at all. But we'll follow this one,
Cold Chisel. He's a very good horse, and even though
he didn't go well for us this time, I think
we follow him through some of these feature races for
the re this year as well. With Cold Chiel and
(05:02):
Markham back to his best. And he went to the
last race at Addington and it was the Big Lebowski
and he was big and powerful, pretty much went to script.
Speaker 2 (05:13):
He was just too good for them.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
He actually closed off at two dollars and five cents,
so if you got on early when Markham tipped them out,
you would have got the three dollars fifty. But yeah,
good find by Markham, and this horse was just far.
Speaker 2 (05:27):
Too good for them in the end.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
We'll move on to Saturday for the gallops best and
we'll start with Matt Daddy and it was race number
four frost Fair and I would say the running of
the race actually probably went against frost Fair here and
it had to set three wide. There wasn't a huge
amount of pace early and the leader trail proved to
(05:52):
be the place to be for most of the day.
Speaker 2 (05:55):
And with a sort of bit of a slap slap tempo.
Speaker 1 (05:58):
I thought through the middle stages being wide wasn't the
place to be considering it's run really well to come
third or follow this horse next up and perhaps even
up to the fourteen hundred meters as well, because it
was doing its best work late. So frost Fair, I
think was one that we can follow. I thought it
was a good run and just everything was against it. Yeah,
(06:20):
the odds were stacked against it in that run, but yeah,
a really good run for the Cambridge stud Colors and
they are having a riffer of a time lately as well.
Now we've also got my best bet, which was Lama
Squeeter in race three. Ah man, this horse just keeps
still doing enough to keep me interested. It was a
(06:42):
tough watch though, considering the winner, Sassy Lass was behind it,
and as they were coming around the corner, Sassy Lass
went to the inside, Lama Squeader went to the outside.
Speaker 2 (06:53):
She still did.
Speaker 1 (06:54):
Run okay in the last hundred Yeah, I thought she
saw kept trying to find the line. I think we
can follow this horse if it drops down into a
rating sixty five over twenty two hundred next time this
horse was racing out of its class.
Speaker 2 (07:12):
I won't be.
Speaker 1 (07:13):
Going crazy though, because I've been burnt a couple of
times now from this one. But I think if we
follow it back to a rating sixty five over twenty
two hundred, I think this horse might pick one up.
So we'll keep an eye out for that. Lama squad
Suit yourself. Another one, just a tough watch all around.
It got out okay and ended up being dragged back
(07:34):
worse than midfield. It was really on a hiding to
nothing from that point because again early on the day
you want to be down on the markers and on
the speed.
Speaker 2 (07:44):
And it's still run well.
Speaker 1 (07:45):
And I'm not gonna drop this one just yet because
I think if it finds the right fit, the right race,
and a good race pattern, maybe a slightly different draw,
it can get on to the rail. I think this
horse suits being on the rail and maybe being held
up for one run and just having a short, sharp
sprint or go at them. But yeah, suit yourself. I
(08:07):
think is still one that we can follow. Ted's best
was one bold cat. I don't know we need to
go into any more detail. We've already covered that off
as the blessed bet. The Goat picked up another one
down in cash Burton Race five. It was Lombardi and
it was outstanding to see this horse come down the
outside and get up the leaders got away a bit
(08:27):
on the corner and he had to do a bit
of work, but he just went through his gears and
worked home. I think he was sort of four or
five links off them with about four or five hundred
to go, and he just got out into the middle
and he just dug in and he just kept on
trucking and kept on trucking, and it was a good
price in the end. I think we got about six
(08:49):
dollars with the odds surge with about twenty minutes before
the race, and I think it was really well found
by the goat.
Speaker 2 (08:56):
And he's starting to warm up. It's this time of
the year.
Speaker 1 (08:58):
I think the yep, the air is starting to get
a little bit warmer, the grass is starting to grow
a little bit more lush, and the goat is loving it.
Speaker 2 (09:07):
And watch out for him over these next few weeks.
Speaker 1 (09:09):
Because he manages to hit a rich vein of form
around this time every year, and I'm sure he's going
to find us some good winners over the coming weeks,
right the ROI for the blessed bets and the leaders
so far. Of course, we're doing a leaderboard every week.
We are doing an imaginary one unit each way on
(09:33):
each of our best bets, and then we take the
return minus the investment to give us the units of profit.
And this seems a little bit repetitive, but Kemmy's is
still leading the way with eleven points six units of profit.
Speaker 2 (09:46):
He had such a strong start.
Speaker 1 (09:48):
Ted in second with eight point five to five units
of profit, and the scan Man in third with four
point sixty six units of profit, and I believe the
Goat is now in fourth as well, so he's working
his way up this leaderboard. It's going to be interesting
to see what happens over these next sort of four
or five weeks, because I think there's gonna be some
(10:09):
movement on this leaderboard. So it's really cool just to
follow along and see how this is going, because you
can easily forget all the winners that you've had, well
maybe not in my case, but definitely for like Keimmy's.
You know, he started off so hot. You could have
a well, you know, a week where you maybe don't
tip tip a winner and you can easily forget about
(10:30):
the five weeks before when you did. So. Yeah, it's
gonna be really interesting to see how this goes.
Speaker 2 (10:38):
Right, let's go and jump.
Speaker 1 (10:40):
In and quickly review some of the feature races and
some of the things that we noticed out of the weekend. Firstly,
the group one live them All and how good is Snavvy?
She loves that track. She's four from four there now.
It was a ten out of ten ride from Warren Kennedy.
It was so good to see her not only win,
(11:01):
but she really put them away.
Speaker 2 (11:03):
As well and powered home over that last hundred.
Speaker 1 (11:08):
We mentioned Snazzi Tavvy in the first podcast of the
season for anyone that would listen, we said, back this
horse for the liver Mole. I think it was about
eighteen dollars at that point. A few of us got on.
I think we got on early. Over the weeks after that,
I'd sort of read an article explaining that they were
maybe going to have a bit of an easy preparation
(11:30):
this year, and that the liver Mole wasn't on the radar,
and so unfortunately I stopped reinvesting in her. I just
kept the ticket that I had, and then obviously she
came out on one so impressively at Tatapa that they
ended up deciding that they were in fact going to
(11:50):
go for the liver mole, and it was the right decision.
Absolutely smashed them. She's such a great horse. There were
some other nice runs behind there as well. I thought
Hio sas Bam was huge to come from where it did,
and I thought this horse was only going to go
well on heavy tracks. But I think it's proved me
wrong there, because yeah, it's gone home really well. The
(12:13):
other one I thought got a pass mark from me
was Dionysus, and I thought this horse went well, It's.
Speaker 2 (12:22):
Going to look good going up to the thirty two hundred.
Speaker 1 (12:25):
It's currently ten dollars now in the New Zealand Cup
market and I'm actually looking for another one after another
one to punt after Chivalde Foudre was taken out of
the knobs last week for the New Zealand Cups. Unfortunately,
my futures ticket is burnt for that sort of in
this story this season for a few of us here
(12:47):
with our futures tickets just getting murdered. But I think
I'm gonna have a crack at the ten dollars in
the New Zealand Cup market, because yeah, it wasn't a
terrible run.
Speaker 2 (12:59):
I thought it was going pretty well there.
Speaker 1 (13:03):
Balatrix Star, Man, this Philly just keeps stepping up, doesn't she.
She's gotten to another level again and she's come from
a decent way back at Corfield when the pattern again
for the day was probably against her. And I think
she's gonna get her chance at Group one level next start.
Not sure exactly where she'll go and if she's going
(13:27):
to sort of be up to the level, but up
to some of the best colts. You know, some of
them are big and strong and fast. But the way
she's going, you've got to give her a chance. And
whatever race she turns up her next, I'm definitely gonna
have a bet on her. I think even in a
Group one, you know there's gonna be some really quality horses,
so we're probably gonna still get another decent price for
(13:48):
Balatrick Star.
Speaker 2 (13:49):
If you've been following.
Speaker 1 (13:50):
Her through her four wins over in Australia and betting everyone,
you would have made some serious money so far because
she just keeps paying good money. So yeah, its gonna
be interesting to see what happens next with her, but
I will certainly be following. Gaso tipped out a horse
in the BGP Facebook group yesterday called better than a Diva.
(14:14):
When he put it up, it was paying nineteen dollars
and five dollars, which is outrageous, and this horse got
the perfect run, came to the outside and stormed home
down the outside to get the boys.
Speaker 2 (14:27):
Paid nineteen dollars and five dollars.
Speaker 1 (14:29):
It actually closed at thirty one dollars on the fix price.
So some outstanding work there from Gaso to get such
amazing value and something he knows how to find these horses.
Speaker 2 (14:43):
Yeah, he's a bloody magic man.
Speaker 1 (14:45):
So keep an eye out in the Facebook group if
you see Gaso tipping out these ones at long Odd's.
They you know they don't always win, but man, if
you just put the same unit bets on all of
the ones that he puts out in the group, you
definitely will be in profit because he's giving away one
set of paying nineteen dollars. It's just unbelievable. Another man
(15:06):
that's been going good as well as the scan man.
I also seen him give us a couple of same
race Maltis for the harness at Melton on Saturday. One
was for Just Believe to win with Move for Us,
a Metro and Olivici top four, which was the one
that won.
Speaker 2 (15:22):
I think it paid six dollars twenty five or something, which.
Speaker 1 (15:26):
Is just outrageous, like it was in perfect It was unbelievable.
Everything went exactly the way that he explained it would.
Speaker 2 (15:35):
The other one.
Speaker 1 (15:36):
He had another same race Malti as well in the
race before that with Ardie's Express to win jillyby Willow
and Rakira Rebel to run top four and that was
paying four dollars eighty five. Unfortunately, Rakira Rebel came over
the top after sitting in the trail and got over
the top and actually managed to win. But look, if
(15:56):
you managed to box them up in a trifector, you've
got two hundred and two dollars for trifectus. So yeah, God,
the scam man's been finding some winners as well. If
you would have seen on Saturday down at cash Burton
as well, or Horse Caught Vivacious kicked their heads and
down south there as well. Now Kimmy's had this one
(16:16):
as a black booker, and if you go back to
episode two of the Monday recap, we said, and we
labeled you have to follow this one, and we got
a good price on the weekend, is about five dollars.
Speaker 2 (16:26):
I think. So it pays to listen and it pays
to follow.
Speaker 1 (16:30):
Because Kimmy's has been finding black Bookers left, right and center.
Speaker 2 (16:35):
Another black booker that he found and that he.
Speaker 1 (16:37):
Mentioned, and this was also on a Monday recap as well,
was Lubron. You know, obviously one at starts, so it's
hard to call it a black booker. But after its
run sitting three wide at Elslie, fresh up and winning,
she went huge again yesterday and putting away a really
really nice field That was an unbelievable It was reminiscent
(16:59):
of Snazzy Tavvy that day before putting them away.
Speaker 2 (17:01):
It was so good to see. It was giving me flashbacks.
Speaker 1 (17:05):
We're actually getting ten dollars for Luberon in the railway
at the moment, after being eighteen dollars before that win yesterday,
So I'm gonna be having a small investment in the
rail well as well onto Lubron, because that was a
really impressive win. There was another one that I thought
was a black Booker yesterday as well was actually a
horse called Geriatrics.
Speaker 2 (17:25):
I think he's a pretty talented horse.
Speaker 1 (17:27):
But he went huge, came from so far back and
really flew that last fifty or last one hundred. I
don't think the camp a sure exactly what they're going
to do with this horse next, but it was a
much improved run. And I'll be following this horse to
its next start as well, Geriatrics, because I think it's
going to pick up Yeah, it's going to pick up
another race, maybe the moy I head to oswor it
who knows right? Lastly to jump into events, and we've
(17:51):
got one week to go. So the Everest Day King
of the Punt is at Allesley this Saturday, October nineteenth.
We've already sold I think over one hundred and fifty
tickets already, and I reckon ticket sales are going to
go up this week, hopeing, hoping, We're going to get
about two hundred people one course to take on the
(18:12):
King of the Punt. We're really excited about it. The
way it works, it's pretty straightforward. First of all, you
need to buy a ticket to the room, which is
fifty five dollars that includes.
Speaker 2 (18:22):
A meal and a bear, and then.
Speaker 1 (18:25):
You can enter into the punting competition on the day,
So the King of the punt is supposed to be
friendly for anyone of all levels to be able to
get involved. You can play by yourself or you can
enter as a team. It's one hundred dollars to enter
the competition, so you basically pay the fifty five dollars
for your ticket.
Speaker 2 (18:44):
And you turn up on the day.
Speaker 1 (18:45):
When you come into the course on the day, your
tab account needs to be at zero or close enough
to zero, and then you need to come over to
us and you need to buy in one hundred dollars
into your tab account. You need to show us the
timestamp of purchasing into the into the TIRB account and
then we'll write down your details and then from that
(19:06):
point it's your job to turn that into the most
money you can buy the last race you can bet on,
which is the Everest. The other thing with this as
well is that you can actually rebuy, so if you
lose your first one hundred dollars, you can reinvest and
buy in with another one hundred dollars. There is going
to be a minimum, a minimum turnover level which is
(19:30):
going to be by about four pm. I think you're
going to have to have turned over x amount, but
you can definitely rebuy as many times as you want
up until four pm and that's going to be the
cutoff time.
Speaker 2 (19:41):
The tickets are available now.
Speaker 1 (19:43):
You can get them through the app or you can
also get them and look on the Facebook events.
Speaker 2 (19:49):
There's links everywhere there to all the different events.
Speaker 1 (19:52):
But the Kick of the Punt tickets, Grab your ticket
and how fifty five bucks gets you into the room
with a drink as well and a merely well so
the King of the Punt this Saturday.
Speaker 2 (20:02):
We're really excited about it. Get involved.
Speaker 1 (20:04):
The other events we've got coming up as well is
New Zealand Cup Week. We're doing a punters club from
the Thursday through to the Saturday, so Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Dogs,
Harness and gallops. We're looking to do what we've done
a few years ago on New Zealand Cup Week and
take the tab for a stack of cash. We're going
to be hosting two different events done in Cup Week.
(20:26):
We're doing one of the Dogs on Thursday night. Tickets
are available now and there are one hundred and seventy
dollars and it's an all inclusive experience, so all your
drinks and all your food included, and there's going to
be a separate area for the BGP members as well.
If you want a ticket and you want to come
to the pups on the Thursday night for that all
inclusive experience, email Sarah at christ Church Greyhounds dot cot
(20:51):
and Z to book your spot and she'll send you
back the details you need to buy your tickets. I
think we've got about thirty or forty people already locked
and loaded coming long for the dogs for the day.
We'd love to see that to get up to a
couple one hundred. I know obviously we've still got a
bit of time before then, but if you're keen to
come along to the dogs, send out an email to
Sarah at christ Church Greyhounds dot coded ENZ to book
(21:13):
in your spot now. The other event we're going to
be doing down on New Zealand Cup Week is.
Speaker 2 (21:18):
The Friday Harness Twilight Meeting.
Speaker 1 (21:22):
All the details are in the BGP app and the
BGP Facebook page where you can get links to tickets.
Speaker 2 (21:29):
It's one hundred and fifteen dollars per person.
Speaker 1 (21:32):
It includes food throughout the day and four drinks vouchers
and we're going to be right on the grass, right
in front of the winning post. This is a twilight
meeting that features the two brand new five hundred thousand
dollars slot races, the Ascent and the Velocity, and it
is really exciting because there's already a couple of horses
locked in from Australia that are coming over this Friday.
Speaker 2 (21:51):
Is going to be a huge twilight meeting and it's
going to be a lot of fun.
Speaker 1 (21:55):
So jump on to Facebook or the BGP app and
grab your tickets now, one hundred for thing dollars per person.
Going to be really good to see anyone down there
at Cup week for the week krak a million tickets
are now available and.
Speaker 2 (22:09):
They are in the app. They're also in all the
emails that we're sending out now as well.
Speaker 1 (22:14):
These tickets will sell out, and they will sell out
quickly as soon as we start promoting it a little
bit more. After we get through this event this weekend,
these tickets are going to sell out really quickly.
Speaker 2 (22:28):
I think we're already.
Speaker 1 (22:29):
Up to over three hundred or three hundred and fifty
sold As soon as we start really promoting these these
are going to go really quickly because they are so popular.
Speaker 2 (22:39):
Right. That's going to wrap it up for this week.
Speaker 1 (22:41):
The podcast will be back this Thursday to warm up
for the King of the Punt listening.
Speaker 2 (22:46):
If you're coming along to the King of the Punt, the.
Speaker 1 (22:48):
Boys might have some nuggets for you as we preview
some of the races that are coming up on the weekend.
Keep an eye out for the Best of BGP along
with the Friday Phillip.
