(00:00):
Welcome to a somatic overwhelm reset. Stop the holiday rush in 10 minutes.
(00:09):
Hi. If you've clicked on this session, I'm guessing you feel that you're running out of time.
The month of December can feel like a race that you never signed up for.
Your mind is obsessing over the to-do lists, finances and family plans.
(00:30):
While your body feels tight, fuzzy or simply completely exhausted.
You are stuck in the urgency mode. But listen to me, you're not broken and you're not failing.
You are simply overstimulated.
In the next few minutes, we're going to pause the holiday rush.
(00:55):
We're going to perform a somatic reset to convince your nervous system that there really is no emergency.
The shopping can wait, the planning can wait. Right now, you are going to give yourself the greatest gift of all.
(01:16):
Your own presence, so please find that quiet place now where you won't be disturbed.
You can sit or lie down for just a moment.
Let's begin by manually lowering your quarter-zone levels.
We need to tell your heart to slow down.
(01:39):
We will use the physiological side. It really is the fastest way to offload stress.
I want you to take a double inhale through your nose.
So a big breath in and then a tiny sit more at the top, just to pop those airs sacks in your lungs.
(02:00):
And then a long, audible sigh out through your mouth.
Let's do that together. Big breath in, another sit and then a big sigh.
Let it all out. Let your shoulders drop from your ears.
Allow the muscles around your jaw to unclench.
(02:25):
Again, let's inhale deeply. Sip that extra action in at the top and exhale.
Making a sound if you need to.
Let the noise of the season leave your body.
One last time. Inhale, sip and a long, slow, relaxing sigh.
(02:53):
Unwind and find that moment of harmony.
Good. Now let your breath return to its natural rhythm.
We're going to address the somatic energy of rushing.
When we are overwhelmed, our energy feels trapped in our chest and our limbs.
(03:19):
Like we need to run. Instead of fighting it, we are simply going to gently release it.
I want you now to gently shake your hands. Just flick them at the wrists as if you're shaking off water.
Imagine you are literally flicking away the urgency, flicking away the expectations, flicking away the need to be perfect.
(03:51):
If your body wants to sway, let it sway. If you want to roll your neck, roll it.
This is you completing a stress cycle.
You are moving the energy through and out. You are telling your body, "I am moving. I am safe."
(04:18):
Now bring your body to stillness. Maybe feel the tingling in your fingertips.
This is your life force. This is your energy returning to you.
Rather than being given away to everyone else, feel gravity holding you in your chair or on the bed.
(04:45):
You are supported. You do not need to hold the weight of the holidays all by yourself.
We are going to move into a space of deep self-love and compassion.
This time of year can be hard on our self-esteem.
(05:08):
We often feel we haven't done enough or bought enough. So I invite you to place one hand on your heart and one hand on your belly.
Feel the warmth of your own palms. This touch releases oxytocin and calms the amygdala.
(05:34):
I want you to repeat these affirmations silently in your thoughts.
Let them sink into your chest. Here is the first one.
I have done enough.
I have done enough.
(05:58):
Breathe that one in. It is true. You are doing your best and that is plenty.
Here is the next one.
Is it safe for me to rest? Even if the list is not finished.
(06:19):
Your worth is not measured by your productivity. You are allowed to stop.
And finally, repeat these words with kindness to yourself.
(06:42):
Repeat these words with kindness to yourself. I love myself enough to say no.
I love myself enough to say no.
(07:05):
Protecting your peace is not selfish. It is essential.
Feel your heart beating under your hand. This heart beats for you, not for the holiday season.
Just breathe here for a moment, soaking in that permission.
(07:30):
The urgency has faded. The alarm bell has been turned off.
You are just here, existing, breathing, grounded.
Notice how much quieter the world feels when you stop rushing to meet it.
(07:57):
You can carry this feeling with you when the noise gets too loud or the family dynamics get too intense.
You can come back to this hand on your heart.
You can return to the double in breath.
You truly now have the tools to reset.
(08:20):
Now take a gentle breath in through your nose and a soft exhale.
Wiggle your fingers and toes. Maybe stretch your arms up overhead, taking up the space, claiming your space in this season.
And when you are ready, my friend, gently open your eyes.
(08:43):
Thank you for choosing to prioritize yourself today.
For a member, you cannot pour from an empty cup. By resetting your nervous system, you are actually helping everyone around you.
Please, be gentle with yourself in the coming days.
