Speaker 1 (00:13):
What is up, everybody? Scott Yeager here with another Challenge
Mania episode breakdown. Here to break down episode fourteen of
the Challenge season forty one Vets versus New Threat's gonna
be doing it alongside my personal favorite vet right here,
mister Derek Kazinski. But before we get to him, just
want to shout out Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. That's right. If you're
watching over at Challengemaniacs dot com, you see me rocking
(00:35):
my Philadelphia seventy six ers jersey. That's because we have
just announced we are returning to the city of Brotherly
Love about a year, maybe a little more than a
year after we did this past January with Johnny Bananas.
You guys sold out the house at Helium. How can
we possibly get bigger and better than that, Well, we
don't know if it's bigger and better, but it certainly
is next to him on Mount Rushmore. Because we are
(00:57):
bringing in the man himself, mister Ctbrello. We are going
to be hopping up the road to Philly the day
after Baltimore. Baltimore completely sold out on January thirty first,
Well the next night in Philly, February first, we are
going to rock the house at Citywinery. That's right, a
brand new venue for us in Philly, bigger room than
Helium because we have a bigger guest that we've ever
(01:17):
had in Philly. We know you guys love the big
man ct so we want to make sure as many
of you people can be in the room as possible.
We are doing Citywinery at six pm on Sunday, February first.
Tickets are going to go on sale via patron pre
sale over at challengemaniacs dot com on Wednesday, November fifth.
We are giving you a full week to head over
to Challenge Maniacs dot com sign up at one of
(01:37):
the many levels that'll get you access to tickets. We
begin at ten am with Savage level patrons, than an
hour later with DISA level patriots, than one pm for
Maniac level patrons, and then all patrons at three pm.
Why is this important, Well, for instance, the day before Baltimore,
we put our tickets on sale to our patrons last
week and they sold out during the pre sales. So
before you guys get your you know what's in a bunch.
I just want to let you know the reason we
(01:58):
do this is because we don't do the biggest rooms
in the world. These are large rooms, but they aren't
the biggest rooms in the world. And you know, we're
very blessed to say they do occasionally sell out, and
when they do, we want to make sure we give
the first access to tickets to the pod squad, those
of you guys who listen to the podcast every week
who might be watching this over at challengemaniacs dot com,
who keep the lights on for us a year round.
We want to make sure they have first access to tickets. Now.
(02:20):
It's not dissimilar to the way that when the Yankees
make the playoffs or the Dodgers make the playoffs, before
they put tickets on sale to everyone, they go to
their season ticket holders and they go, hey, you guys
get full access. You're the ones who come to eighty
games a year. Here, you guys get first access to
playoff tickets. Well, here's a hack that they don't do
over there. We're allowing you guys a week's notice to
go to challengemaniacs dot com today, sign up at the
(02:41):
Savage level today. It'll go through the presale. You can
get that pre sale Diesel level, Maniac level, whatever you
want to do. And if you want to say goodbye
after a month, that's fine too, but we encourage you
to stick around, enjoy the bonus podcast, enjoy the bonus
video and other bonus content. Because of course, you can
use it to get access to the tickets. We hope
you do that, but we hope you also enjoy the
bonus podcast content and consider sticking around all year, because
(03:02):
that's really who the pre sales are for. So we're
giving you guys a week to get your ducks in
a row. Boy, is it going to be a great year?
Twenty twenty six kicking it off with a bank Baltimore
sold out next day affiliate City Winery, November fifth, that's
the date, very important date over a challenge Frommaniacs dot com.
All Right, it didn't come for me, You came for
d He's gonna be there in Philly with me. He's
(03:22):
gonna be there in Baltimore with me. Sadly, he's not
with us on season forty one anymore, but that doesn't
mean that he's hung up the remote control. He's gonna
break down episode fourteen with us here today, mister Derek Kazinski,
what's up?
Speaker 2 (03:33):
Brother?
Speaker 3 (03:34):
Yeah man?
Speaker 4 (03:35):
Episode fourteen of the Chalunce Season forty one had some
Johnny Banana's news come out.
Speaker 3 (03:44):
A few days ago.
Speaker 4 (03:46):
As far as the the the legs of the challenge
and where it's going to go, it sounds like there
sounds like some privied information that could only come from
like behind the.
Speaker 3 (03:59):
Scene, you know.
Speaker 4 (04:02):
So it's uh, it was, you know, we always wonder
where is the challenge going? How long is it going
to exist. MTV's music channels have are gone off of
the globe by music channels, MTV channels, the music video channels.
Like I just enjoyed it in Amsterdam. I watched like
the top fifty eighties hits music videos and I'm sitting
(04:28):
there in Amsterdam that that was my choice of TV.
It was MTV and the top fifty eighty songs and
I was just like, I started videoing them and it's
very possible that I that I got like the last
three music videos that will ever be played on MTV
(04:49):
in Amsterdam in the Netherlands last.
Speaker 1 (04:53):
Week, that video that might be worth something someday, you
never know.
Speaker 3 (04:57):
Here I was jamming, man, I can't believe it. TV's gone.
Speaker 1 (05:01):
Now to bring up you're bringing up you're about to
bring up a larger subject that, yes, you're right, Johnny
Banan has brought up on his podcast. I wonder, you know,
would we normally tease this for the Patreon and cut
it off on the main feed and tease people to
go hear us talk about it? But since you brought
it up, why don't we talk about it here while
we're talking for free on the main feed as well.
You're gonna get about a twenty minute preview of this
(05:21):
on the main feed if you want to hear the
rest of the podcast an episode breakdown. We'll probably continue
talking about this over at Challenge Maniacs dot com at
the maniac level or above. But you're in fact talking
about Johnny Bananas, who on his podcast recently. And we
always say that once Johnny puts it out there, now
it's fair game, right, So you know rumors, innuendo, you know,
things like that, things about the show, what can you do?
(05:42):
What lines can you cross? Well, Johnny Bananas flat out
set it the other day. He said it like it
was fact, not like it was rumored. Right, Like I
think we're all wondering, is MTV long for this world?
He's flat out I think in this podcast flat out
set as if it was a certainty that season forty
two will be on Paramount Plus and not on MTV,
and he thinks MTV will be gone, if not by
(06:03):
then shortly thereafter here in the United States, Like as
you said, it is gone in Amsterdam and the nether region.
So that is what you're talking about CRYPTI.
Speaker 4 (06:11):
Yeah, yeah, And I don't know how I jumped on
this topic, Uh, but I feel like I have some
to say about the topic. I think I was trying
to get to that We're on episode fourteen of an
episode that's called we have to Boogie, and I think
in my head I was trying to figure out how
this episode is called we have to Boogie. I guess
it would mean like we gotta get going, we gotta
(06:34):
keep moving, we gotta you know, we gotta find a
reason to boogie. But it almost feels like, you know,
just I think my brain went to what Johnny had said,
and it sounded like he was saying like, if you're
coming on season forty two, you have to absolutely bring.
Speaker 1 (06:50):
It because you gotta have to boogie.
Speaker 4 (06:52):
You gotta boogie, you gotta bring your boogie. Whatever, whatever
you're known for, whatever, your your boogie is known for
you need to bring that if they're inviting you to
season forty two, because that might be the last one
because we have quote unquote new parents.
Speaker 3 (07:07):
That's what he said, new parents.
Speaker 1 (07:09):
At guidance talking about sky Dance, which, by the way,
to add another layer to this that he did not mention,
So Skydance slash Paramount is. I listened to a podcast
called The Town and it's about kind of industry relations
and you know, the dealings with studios and things like that.
And they were talking last week about how WBD Warner
(07:32):
Brothers Discovery, which owns HBO, it owns Turner, you know,
it owns you know, TNT, TBS, things like that, and
as well as the Warner Brothers Film Studio is putting
itself up for sale as well, and they put it
at a forty percent chance, which was the largest percentage
that Paramount Global, now owned by sky Dance, absorbs Warner
(07:53):
Brothers Discovery as well, which means that in some capacity,
if that happens, HBO and some of these other networks
and things like that would all be under the same
umbrella as your CBS is. And you're formerly MTVS and
of course your paramount pluses and whatnot. So you know,
that adds another layer to this as well, which look,
I've always said that, you know, Johnny looked at it
(08:15):
as like, hey, you know, forty two is this thing
you guys really have to you know, make sure you
bring it. I think he said, you know, any you know,
they've put out the banana signal if you will, any
veteran who's being asked to do forty two should say yes,
and you know, bring their a game and whatnot. But
I've always said I think that the Challenge and you guys,
the fan base and the Challenge maniacs. It's like, the
(08:36):
Challenge is a property that is very cost efficient and
very attractive to a company that's looking to lure people
into a subscriber based relationship, you know what I mean, Like, hey,
stick around year round. Now what are we doing now,
we're doing it for UFC, Maybe we're doing it next year,
We're doing it for HBO shows like Game of Thrones
and whatever. But on the reality end, you know, there
(08:57):
are a few shows that have the lasting legacy that
the Challenge, and so, you know, I think it's a
good move. I honestly think that you know, I read
more negative comments when a show is going to be
on MTV than I do when it's going to be
on Paramount Plus. Like when season forty one dropped, we
get a lot of Facebook comments, where can I watch this?
Where can I stream this? Oh? I can't. I don't
have cable. That sucks for me. So I think next
(09:19):
year it'll be maybe easier for people to pay attention
to the challenge, watch it every week. Hopefully they're already
subscribing to Paramount Plus, but if not, they'll be willing
to do it for whatever it is, ten fifteen dollars
a month. But I think the real news of it
was that he flat out said, as if it was fact,
that season forty two is coming to Paramount Plus. And
that tells me that he was told that. And as
(09:41):
we know Johnny Bananas, you know, he's always had a
bit more than a you know, cast member. Hey call
me twice a year to see if I'll do the show,
relationship with the big wigs over there, I wouldn't be
surprised if he was told that. I wouldn't be surprised
if other people were told that. I'm not saying I
was told that but maybe I was told that. So
(10:01):
I do think they are maybe letting people know, hey,
this is a big one and we could use you
for this one.
Speaker 4 (10:06):
So yeah, yeah, well let me let me let me say,
let me go back into my little history books of
when I started doing the challenge and how this operation
used to work, even back then, even when I like
first started and I didn't know anything, but people kind
of laying out these you know, this little bit of
information and it just kind of getting back to me
(10:27):
just like this happened, except now it's like all over
the internet as opposed to like just you know, another
cast member that had had heard.
Speaker 3 (10:44):
But back then, it was.
Speaker 4 (10:46):
Kind of like these shows would get renewed by like
threes in threes, so you would know all year there's
going to be like three challenges this year. But then
it started happening where it was like, oh, it only
got renewed for two seasons, and then all of a sudden.
Speaker 3 (11:03):
It got renewed. Oh it just got renewed for one season.
Speaker 4 (11:06):
And then it's like, oh, it hasn't been renewed yet,
we have to wait and find out if it's going
to get renewed, and you know, and now it's and
and so back then it was the the mantra was
kind of similar. It was kind of like, you know,
this might be the last one. It's always almost been
the last one, right right, so for the longest time,
(11:28):
it's it's like, you know, it's season forty the last one, right,
Like it could have like we even kind of have
this conversation, you know, back then, like is this because
season thirty nine was so bad and you know, they
brought in all these rookies and they trashed the show
and Johnny didn't even cover it. It was so fucking bad.
He was so pissed at all these you know, newbies
(11:48):
coming in and trying to take over our turf.
Speaker 3 (11:54):
They they they messed up the show.
Speaker 4 (11:58):
And to be honest, I'll be honest, Like back then,
you know, when season thirty nine was airing, I mean
I would get approached by like people that like just
random people that would recognize me and they would say, hey,
by the way, I fucking hate this, you know, all
rookie season, like it just it just there's no, it's
not the same feel, it's not the same people it's.
Speaker 3 (12:19):
And it would just be like random people.
Speaker 4 (12:21):
I wouldn't even bring it up, you know, it would
just be like that would be that was the the
message the show sent, you know, so that may have
been the last one. Now season forty comes up and
it's a battle of the eras, and like it bring right,
you would think that it brings it back, right, And
then we get season forty one for one season, one
(12:43):
season only, we get season forty one.
Speaker 1 (12:46):
Yeah, yeah, you're missing All Stars five. And there too,
a lot of people thought All Stars was dead until
all of a sudden, right after forty they go and
film All Stars five. I think it's a bit of
TMI these days, right, Like we're a little spoiled with
the with the rumors and with the Internet and with
the spoiler accounts. And I get people who tell me
every day they go, they go, this spoiler account just
(13:09):
said All Stars is dead, and what do you have
to say about that? And I go, I have to
say that. Literally, look back through every season from season
three on, they have said that about All Stars until
the day they go, oh wait, psych never mind. And
so I just think, to go back to what you
were saying about back in the day, it used to
(13:29):
be three seasons at a time, two seasons at a time,
et cetera. I wonder has them changed or has the
delivery of information change, the frequency of information changed, and
also like who's kept at bay and who isn't right,
Like I'd imagine back in the day before spoiler accounts
and the Internet and all this stuff, they were probably
pretty open with you guys as cast members, like, hey,
(13:50):
we're gonna do another one next year, keep your schedule open, whatever,
Oh hey we got three. Then after a while they
probably started playing coy, right, so where you kind of
have to go to the internet to read about the
rumors and are things getting picked up as you say
and whatnot.
Speaker 4 (14:04):
So I mean, I mean like by the time it
gets to me, it's like it's already been you know,
the message has already been like through you know, multiple
people before it gets to me. So it's not like
I'm going to the Internet and being like, oh shit,
I just saw on you know, on whatever whatever news
that the challenge got picked up for three seasons. It's like, no,
(14:26):
it's like somebody told somebody that told somebody that got
back to me. And and that just kind of leads
back to all, right, look, there is forty one seasons.
Speaker 3 (14:34):
I mean, you know, there's not that.
Speaker 4 (14:36):
Many TV shows, cartoons, you know, Like, I don't know
you you name it seasons where you say, there's forty
fucking seasons of anything unless it's Survivor or Big Brother
or The Challenge, Right, I'm just saying, honestly, like, I
think you have.
Speaker 1 (14:56):
To add the recurring element because to me, Survivor is not.
At this point of Survivor, they just went ten seasons
without returning one player, So seasons forty one to forty nine,
they didn't bring back one player from like Boston rob
or whoever. Like, no, it was it was over that
course of that what is it twenty times ten two
(15:16):
hundred new people playing Survivor. The name is the same,
the host is the same, But you guys are, in
my opinion, the longest running reality show that has had
a version of a continuous cast the entire time. The
amount of continuity between season one of The Challenge and
season fifteen, right, the bleedover of people is probably you know,
(15:37):
fifty sixty percent, et cetera. Then fifteen to twenty five
and whatever, And we have people on season forty one
of the Challenge that played on seasons eight, nine, ten,
and eleven of the challenge. That's what separates you, guys
from those other long running reality shows, you know what
I mean? So you're right to put the challenge more
in the conversation of the Simpsons or I actually think
that the best example for me is wrestling. Okay, I
(16:00):
was gonna.
Speaker 4 (16:00):
Say w W even even w W F had had
the name change, just like the Real World road Rules Challenge,
like had to get a name change. Its just turned
into the challenge. And and I'll let you continue, but
that I mean, you nailed it for me.
Speaker 3 (16:13):
Listen the whole ae W thing.
Speaker 4 (16:15):
You know who got me into ae W besides you
mentioning ae W and you go on ringside and fucking
trying to be the first one in line for this
new uh you know this this new wrestling function is.
Speaker 3 (16:26):
Is is the fact that guys like Sting would show
up right.
Speaker 4 (16:30):
You know who piqued my interest the other day, fucking
Sting Stings back in the ring. You know what what
I'm interested in in about why I'm back interested about
wrestling right now is because I saw a Sting in
the ring with the same you know, set up with
the baseball bat. He's all great now, which I kind
of you know, I kind of I kind of wish
you would.
Speaker 1 (16:49):
He's got a beard, he's got a beard.
Speaker 4 (16:51):
Listen, to be honest, like he could go back do
the do the spray paint and stuff like that.
Speaker 3 (16:55):
But I guess if you want.
Speaker 4 (16:56):
To do you know the old uh, you know the
the old what's the abominable snowman sting?
Speaker 2 (17:02):
Look?
Speaker 4 (17:02):
Okay, fine, but I'm interested again, like what is he doing?
Speaker 3 (17:08):
What's going on there? I might turn that on again,
you know.
Speaker 1 (17:11):
Well, here's the reason I say wrestling is important because
wrestling is getting a lot of money from these companies. Okay,
so WBD, which might get absorbed by Paramount pays aw
I think it's like eighty five to one hundred million
dollars a year for the rights to their content. WWE
gets much more than that. And they are now on
esp They're on a collection of ESPN, Netflix, they still
(17:34):
have SmackDown on the networks, right, and they get billions
and billions of dollars for the rights to show their stuff.
Why Because there's that connection to a fan base that
spans forty to fifty years, et cetera. And like sports,
people tend to want to watch it live and things
like that, so it still has a value for advertisers
and whatnot. Now I think it's interesting because ww just
(17:56):
went to Netflix and the ratings have kind of gone down.
Part of the reason I think people like watching wrestling
on TV is, oh, it is a match you don't want, Okay,
I'll put on my night football a little bit, you know.
So the fact that now it's on Netflix where you
kind of have to go, and you go there in
a bunch of movies. Oh, maybe I'll watch that instead,
I think that's a little it's a new thing for
the wrestling fan, whereas you guys and the Challenge fan
has sort of tiptoed into this streaming world over the
(18:17):
past five years with All Stars and Paramount Plus. So
I think if we can find a nice marriage of hey,
we're all gonna watch this around eight or nine o'clock,
like I do think that's an adjustment they need to
make if this is going on Paramount Plus, do not
drop these episodes at three am on Wednesday Like that
to me is a bad idea. You then have people
who are gonna wake up at ten am and watch
(18:38):
it or maybe even watch it at three am, then
you want they tell the cast members, Hey, can you
guys still live tweet it at eight? That's kind of weird,
and you have people watching it at all different times,
and that takes away the communal element. I think they
should try to still keep that communal element, Like we
should ideally have a time that we feel comfortable dropping
our podcast knowing that everybody has seen the episode. It'd
be cool to still have that aspect of the MTV experience,
(19:00):
but also the convenience of watching it without commercials, if
you want to pay a little more, being able to
watch it at your leisure, if you want being able
to stream ten in a row without having a oh,
go back in DBR and push this and push that.
So I actually think it'll be good for the fan base.
I actually think I disagree with Johnny that if forty
two doesn't blow everybody else out of the water and
(19:21):
isn't the best season ever, it spells doomed for the Challenge.
Don't get me wrong, I want a great season two.
But I will say that something that he did say
when the way we would put it is what's called
militarize the maniacs, mobilize the maniacs. That's what it is.
I do think that there is a bit of a
way that people like to watch the Challenge, which is
even though they're watching it, even though they're talking about it,
(19:44):
even though their profile picture is TJ Lavin, they kind
of hate watch it a little bit. You know, like
if you go and you read their tweets, it's like, wow,
this is your favorite thing. The last eight things you
said are negative, and then there's like two things that
you know kind of feel positive. So here's what I'll say,
whether it's the best season ever or not. You know,
I am with Johnny on and I've been saying this,
beating this drum since we started Challenge Mania and the
(20:05):
Challenge Mania audience. I think high percentage of people who
do this anyway. But to anyone listening who might skew
negative a little bit, hey, maybe for the first season
with the New Parents and the New bosses sky Dance,
Maybe for the first season on Paramount Plus, I don't know,
maybe give it a little bit of a longer leash
as far as look for the positive instead of the negative,
because that stuff will go a long way. Because I
(20:26):
will say they will rely more on social media chatter
and virality than they will ratings, because there's not really
such a thing as ratings when it comes to streaming.
It's more so the public consciousness, the new sign ups,
the subscriptions, and the level of positivity associated with the show.
Speaker 4 (20:41):
So and here's another like wrestling parallel that reminds me
of the challenge in kind of like the end of
a lot of Ogs, or the potential near end of
a lot of Ogs, which could end up being on
All Stars. Let's be honest, could it could? To Paully's point,
(21:03):
like in the end, maybe it is All Stars where
you know the you know me the cts and LeRoy's
end right are are are run?
Speaker 1 (21:12):
Right?
Speaker 3 (21:13):
Is is like watching John Cena?
Speaker 4 (21:15):
Like I you know, I remember I didn't start watching
wrestling like with John Cena.
Speaker 3 (21:21):
I started watching wrestling.
Speaker 4 (21:23):
With like Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warriors, the Legion of Doom,
the bush Whackers, Ted Dbassi, Jake the Snake, Roberts, you
know those guys.
Speaker 3 (21:31):
That's how I started Big boss.
Speaker 4 (21:33):
Man, Mister Perfect Yeah, like Andre the Giant, Yeah, they're
all there, like and like what I watched them again?
If they fucking came out of the dead Apps fucking lotely.
But like what you saw in forty one was like
kind of a sad ending to a lot of these vets.
I went out fucking sorry. You know, CT had like
(21:55):
the worst you know edit performance showing of his entire
you know, challenge career, you know, and like you know,
even Johnny go Yes, Johnny goes out to like uh,
(22:17):
you know, a very you know, a very you know,
good looking new threat, you know.
Speaker 1 (22:22):
And he goes out four episodes in, but.
Speaker 3 (22:25):
He goes out, but he goes out four episodes in.
Speaker 4 (22:28):
And you know, you know, you got Lee Roy, you know,
ending that the game of puzzle, like he you know,
like what I'm saying is like John Cena the way
like they're promoting his like last year here, the last run.
They're you know, we're awaiting his final match, and his
body's just like fucking beat to ship or they're showing
(22:48):
the videos on how he walks, you know, like you know,
he's got like he's got some his body's fucked up
from years and years and years of you know doing
you know, doing wrestling or preparing to wrestle or whatever.
Speaker 3 (23:03):
H that like it's it's about the end, you know.
Speaker 1 (23:06):
But do people John's losing. He's losing though, you know
what I mean, Like, it's not like he has to
win every match on the way out to celebrate his existence. Right,
Like in wrestling in particular, you know, it's good for
the person to go out on their back a few times.
Help the next crop of people get that clout from
beating them. Now, do you want them to lose every match?
Probably not, But I think that, like you know, you
(23:27):
mentioned you Johnny and CT, who all obviously are gone
on the season so far. You went out in a
variety of different ways. Okay, Johnny loses, you know, to
no slouch, loses early. Okay, CT lasts a little longer,
but obviously has the issues with the cast members you know,
really talking down to him, obviously has the height issues.
He ends up losing as well. You make it longer
(23:48):
than both of them, But obviously I think had like
the most unceremonious exit as far as on the elimination floor.
But either way, coming out of this, shouldn't those people
you know who benefit from beating you. You know, those
are the people who are gonna hopefully do five ten
seasons down the road. So it's like I don't necessarily
think it's a bad thing. I don't think that it
needs to be. Are these guys gonna win the season
(24:09):
otherwise than they shouldn't be on the season. You know,
I think that's a weird standard to set. You made
it twelve episodes on a season where we've said it before,
and I'm not saying that this is you know that
you really shouldn't have been there, but you had no
business being there help wise. I'm even surprised they called
you knowing you had the ACL issue so recently. You
make it twelve episodes onto a season that you were
(24:30):
probably surprised to even get called for. I mean, the
epis season is only gonna be probably eighteen to twenty episodes.
So obviously you don't want to go out the way
you went out and the specifically on the elimination floor,
But like, what else do you want from somebody? I know,
some of the some of the really like you know,
the Internet fans who really want people to get you know, dirty,
whether it's verbally or you know, hook up things like that.
Maybe some of you guys are done bringing that. But competitively,
(24:52):
I mean, twelve episodes, you.
Speaker 4 (24:54):
Know, listen, I'll be honest, even the internet trolls. I
felt like I had a solid debate them. We went
at it for a good week straight. I mean kind
of remind me the you know, Horassio timeline if you will,
and uh, and and.
Speaker 3 (25:10):
That's just that's going out on a fucking loss.
Speaker 4 (25:13):
And the response I got, the love that I got
from everybody saying, bro, that does not mean shit, you know,
to your legacy, you know it is, was rewarding.
Speaker 3 (25:26):
But also like I was surprised on the amount of
attention that that it got. I was really surprised by it.
Speaker 4 (25:33):
And then and then uh, you know, but going forward,
like I still think that the ogs, you know, the Hulk, Hogan,
the Ultimate Warrior, the Andre the Giant whatever, the Derek
Cet and Johnny if you will, I still think that
people really want to see, Hey, can these guys fucking
still do it?
Speaker 3 (25:54):
And if they can, I want to see them try.
And I want to see how far these guys can
get because I'd been rooting for him since the whole
Hogan days.
Speaker 1 (26:02):
Have you seen how And look, we'll make this free
preview a little longer so we can get a couple
of sentences in about episode fourteen before say goodbye to
the main feed. But last point on this I want
to say is have you seen this past week how
viral the Real World has gone a lot of people
sharing old clips of the Real World talking about an
Entertainment Weekly list of the rankings of the best Real
World seasons, a lot of clips going around a former
(26:23):
Real World seasons, a lot of people. I saw Pink
Rose talking about Real World Seattle. They had no idea
the whole relationship with Dave Burns and the producer and
things like that. So I sent Pink Rose They said,
have you checked out this interview with Nathaniel. We talked
about it at length, and they're reposting that because people
are falling in love with these these crazy stories a
cast member and a producer hooking up behind the scenes,
(26:44):
her getting fired, this and the other thing. So I
do think that I don't know. Obviously, competitively puts a
stamp on it, puts the icing on the cake. I
do think a lot of the reasons sometimes people say, oh,
should Lee Roy be there, should Derek be there, should
see t be there? It's less about the competition, because,
to be honest with you, Leroy made a final on
All Stars for you do well on the seasons. Other
(27:07):
than that elimination, I think a lot of it is
they want some of this quintessential MTV drama that this
season we've only really kind of gotten from the Wills
of the World and the Ashleys and the Anisas and
the Nannies and maybe a little bit of Dan Johnny
and stuff like that. That is the stuff that I
will say, at age forty two, families at home, you
guys probably aren't bringing that. You know, has Durrell ever
really brought that save for a fight with Brad a
(27:29):
long time ago. So I do think that's a separate
conversation that people kind of like swing back and forth between.
Are you saying he can't bring it on the field
or are you saying that he doesn't get into enough
fights in the kitchen for you? I mean, I think
it's a little bit of that. And I do think
that the true Derek Kaczinski appreciators never really watched you
for that anyway, so you know, you know, but anyway, Okay, So.
Speaker 4 (27:50):
The bottom line is whether it's Johnny, Derek, ct like
the there's been plenty of of the you know, in
the kitchen or in the alley, you know, moments that
you know sometimes you might want to just gamble on it,
because it happens more often than.
Speaker 3 (28:13):
It doesn't, you know what I mean.
Speaker 4 (28:14):
So you know, Wes, your West is your Jordan's, you know,
like you know that you know when you bring one
of these people, a fire will light in some direction,
you know, And whether it's a game move or getting
in someone's face, it fucking happens.
Speaker 1 (28:34):
So we have to say goodbye the main feed. But
before we do, uh, just to talk about episode fourteen
a little bit. We're obviously gonna break this down further.
We finally see Turbo and Sydney go in here. We
get to see them strut their stuff a little bit. Obviously,
a lot is made about Turbo being sick, not handling
the temperatures and things like that. They still get the
job done. They still beat Ashley and Leo, who we
say goodbye to. We'll talk about how their season has
(28:55):
played out. But we're starting to see I think a
little bit of this term oil or whatever you'd call
it between Sydney and Turbo and her him kind of
guiding her, telling her do not talk. You cannot talk
in this house and this and that that we're now
starting to hear about on the podcast. You're making a face.
Why are you making a face?
Speaker 3 (29:13):
I don't see that. I don't see that.
Speaker 4 (29:15):
I saw her, the guy who's out there sunbathing in
his speedo and she's laying next to him talking about
being an alpha in a Turbo shirt.
Speaker 3 (29:24):
What the fuck are you talking about? What turmoil? Hold on?
Hold on?
Speaker 4 (29:29):
He literally said, Hey, what's wrong? Are you sad? Why
are you sad?
Speaker 1 (29:34):
Hair?
Speaker 4 (29:35):
Come up here, sit here and talk to talk to
the doctor. She goes in there, lays down, puts his
head on his lap, and he goes.
Speaker 3 (29:42):
What's wrong you? Did you?
Speaker 4 (29:43):
Did you grow up homeless? Did you have to grow
up fighting for food?
Speaker 3 (29:48):
Did you what?
Speaker 1 (29:49):
Like what happened? How did you take that? You took that?
Speaker 3 (29:52):
I took that asad.
Speaker 1 (29:54):
I took that as being pretty condescending. I took that
as being, you know, if you didn't come from really
tough time. And I don't know what Turbo's background is,
but I think he was implying that, like, you know,
she grew up like you know, wherever she grew up.
I think it was Beverly Hills, you know, probably had
a great upbringing, Like, what do you have to be
sad about today in twenty twenty five, sleeping on a
nice bed and a challenge house, Like that's kind of
(30:15):
what he was saying. You seem to have taken it,
like he was trying to give her a little bit
of perspective and a pep talk. I took it as
a little bit of like, you know, because I do
think it's people. It's okay to be stressed or emotionally
affected by your circumstance, even if you didn't grow up
in a cave or have to, you know, steal bread
from people.
Speaker 4 (30:32):
You know, if I didn't like you and I was
afraid of you, right and you told me to come
on your come sit on the bed and put your
head on my lap while I give you a little
pep talk, I would say, fuck though, yeah, no, no,
thank you, I'm fine right here on the floor.
Speaker 3 (30:48):
Yes you can, you can.
Speaker 4 (30:49):
You can be my psychologist from from from from that distance.
Speaker 1 (30:54):
Well, I don't understand what turb Well I don't think
so sorry, okay, okay, so turbo turbil, turbomoil.
Speaker 4 (31:03):
Sunbathing, and I'm now I'm now leaping into the future
and talking about what she has started alluding to on
social media and what Johnny and d were talking about
on his podcast last week, and she has mentioned that
he was controlling of her, telling her not to call
home things like that.
Speaker 1 (31:21):
Jeremy and other people have started to speak up about
it and whatnot, and I'm starting talking about that. So
obviously the turmoil didn't really, you know, seem to surface
on the show. They seem to be airtight, like you say,
for the most part. I'm saying, is it starting to
come out of the seams a little bit where you
can start to watch it differently now? And I'm wondering
if people are.
Speaker 3 (31:45):
Well, did look did I just did? I give you some.
Speaker 4 (31:48):
Examples of like how it does not seem very turbulent
at the moment.
Speaker 1 (31:53):
Turbulent. That's a good one too, Yeah.
Speaker 4 (31:56):
Does it to those examples? Did you watch the same
did you? Do you remember the scenes I'm talking about?
Speaker 1 (32:02):
Yeah? So you so you It's great, we watched the
same episode, and of course I didn't.
Speaker 3 (32:08):
You're turbomoil, and I saw.
Speaker 1 (32:11):
There's something under the surface there that clear. And again
I'm using the benefit of hindsight. I'm using the benefit
of now stuff we've read and heard since then, and
I maybe I'm also adding a little bit of stuff
she said to me here in New York and when
we were at dinner she talked about him and her
and I maybe, so maybe I've been waiting for this. Yeah,
and this is slowly starting to creep in a little bit.
(32:33):
You know.
Speaker 3 (32:33):
It's it's about four more weeks left.
Speaker 4 (32:35):
So what we're watching now on the Challenge, I don't
even know if there's four more weeks or maybe like
two more weeks left, but they've they've probably been in
there for like six seven weeks at this point.
Speaker 1 (32:44):
Yeah. I mean, look, I'm not trying. I also, I
don't like when people kind of throw someone under the
bus after the fact and make it seem like it
was super obvious that someone didn't, you know, like the
way they were being treated or acting or whatever, but
in the moment they didn't, and then so you kind
of let the guy go and then after the fact
you're like, oh, he treated me so horribly. I couldn't
believe it. And what sounds like we are saying is
(33:04):
like watching it, it looks like she's enjoying it, or at
least you know, playing a long and so I will
say that up until this point, it does sort of
feel like that. I'm saying that having heard it from
her voice and read her words and also other people
talking about, Oh, it was crazy. He would never wouldn't
let her do this. He was a kind of controlling
or this or whatever. I'm now trying to look for
little moments like that, and I'm saying that the way
(33:24):
that he kind of talks to her, talks about her,
and also kind of tries to guide her through. Look
a show he has won and she has never been on.
I get that, So there's a bit of a leadership
mentorship role there as well. I'm trying to wonder, are
we starting to see it peek its way out?
Speaker 3 (33:41):
Yeah, you can ask that question, but as of right now,
I don't. I don't see that happening as of right now.
There's still some time left.
Speaker 4 (33:50):
Absolutely, you know, we have seen you know, him and
Tamara interact, you know, which was you know, you know
kind of you know, you know, my mind boggling to
see from you know, you know, people watching, you know.
So it's it's possible that this, I mean that this
(34:11):
is coming. But I'm saying as of right now, it
looks like they're well, I don't know that.
Speaker 1 (34:17):
The thing is, I don't know if it ever comes.
So that's the thing is that I'm wondering if he
is sort of protected in a way, because look, let's
be honest, he's a he's a fun guy to have
on the show. And the reason he's fun, I think,
is that he's this crazy mix of you know, there's
obviously a bit of a language, language and cultural barrier there,
(34:38):
but for someone who has that, he's willing to say
almost anything right, and he articulates his ways in turbonology,
as we've said. And I wonder if the challenge gods,
if you will, and in the edit, unless it becomes
a huge thing, if they're really going to go out
of their way to hammer that point home, because then
does it become gratuitous that you're kind of forcing these
(35:00):
two people to work together and whatnot and not stepping in.
So I wonder if it's always going to be a
little bit under the surface on the show. And I
wonder if we are going to hear about it as
being a little bit worse when we hear interviews or
read tweets and things like that and so I'm just
trying to read.
Speaker 4 (35:16):
But as of right now, they're they're they're working in
close proximity.
Speaker 1 (35:21):
Yeah, and crushing it. They just then they took out
one of the toughest teams on the show, right, they
figured it out. They got, you know, an elimination that
was both physical and mentally demanding as well, when Turbo
wasn't even at his best. You know. Uh, I will say,
while we're still on the on the free preview, here
uh Sidney with not one but two joking references and
mentions of theo's former eye injury. I think she used
(35:44):
the same joke twice early in the episode and then
again post elimination that even with one eye he can
see how great they are or how awesome they are.
What AFU? I wonder if the editors didn't realize they
showed us the same joke twice. You certainly went for
it twice. I feel like it's their responsibility to only
give us one of them, uh, because Lord knows, you know,
when you when you hit a joke more than once,
(36:04):
it takes away from the effect. But look, she's someone
who clearly uh fits the challenge mold of articulating herself
in the most brash way as possible, because I don't
know that i'd be I mean, look, obviously he's he's
relatively healthy and well and obviously is doing pretty well
with the eye injury. But I don't know if that's
what i'd be leading with every single comment about the guy.
All Right, we have to say good bye to the
main feet. Did you catch those eye references?
Speaker 4 (36:26):
I believe I believe it was Alpha ment She's talking
to Turbo on the on the day bed, you know,
by the pool, and he's she's wearing a Turbo shirt
and he's in his speedo and there's he's sunbathing, you know,
trying to get those fucking inner thighs, you know, cooking.
(36:46):
And she says, Alpha mentality, Do you want.
Speaker 3 (36:50):
To talk these people? I want to talk to me?
Do I want to talk?
Speaker 4 (36:55):
No?
Speaker 3 (36:56):
Fuck you.
Speaker 4 (36:57):
I thought these people were so stupid, But even with
theo's one I, they could still see how amazing we are.
They're smart. And he says she's got you know, every
He says, you know people are watching. You gotta stay humble,
you gotta keep keep the mouth down, and uh, you
(37:20):
know when it's time you give them the middle finger,
and it seems like this at this point they're on
the same page.
Speaker 1 (37:28):
We sadly have to give the middle finger. Just kidding,
we do have to give a fond goodbye to our
friends listening on the main feed. If you want to
hear the rest of this, if you want to watch
this in all of our podcasts and interviews we are
interviewing Will this week, you've probably already heard or seen it,
but if you haven't, you can get that in full
video over at challengemaniacs dot com and all video interviews
that we do. You can access over there audio from
(37:49):
some of our recent live shows video when we have that,

fifth Challenge Maniacs dot com. That's the best and possibly
only way to get tickets to eat and CCT at Citywinery.
There will be some general emission tickets at a third
level that do not include the meet and greet. Like
I said, it's a bigger room, so we could fit
more people in Philly than we could in Baltimore. And
(38:10):
Baltimore everybody gets to meet everybody, but it's a bit
of a smaller room whereas larger room in Philly. There
will be GA tickets for the show alone, but then
we will also have VIP tickets for the meet and greed.

that's great too, because that's the way you will never
miss out on an announcement. Again. Last week after Baltimore,
we got an influx of emails people, oh my god,
(38:53):
I can't believe I missed out. Waitless, waitless, waitless. And
the reason they missed out, I sadly need to say,
is because they probably don't get free alerts over a
challengemaniacs dot com so Facebook dot com slash Challenge Media
podcasts a great place Derek MTV on all platforms. I'm
at Shott Yeager on x Twitter, I'm at Scott yegor
