Catacombs of Paris, France.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
Beneath the bustling streets of Paris lies a subterranean world
of mystery and macabre known as the Catacombs of Paris.
This labyrinth of tunnels and passages, originally created as a
solution to the city's overcrowded cemeteries, has become a haunting
attraction with a chilling history. The catacombs, now housing the

(03:37):
remains of millions as inspired numerous ghost stories and legends,
not captivate the imagination of locals and visitors alike. The
Catacombs of Paris have a dark and fascinating history dating
back to the late eighteenth century. As the city's cemeteries

(03:59):
became overut the authorities decided to relocate the bones of
the deceased to an underground oserary. The process of transferring
these skeletal remains from various cemeteries to the Catacombs took
several years, creating eight chilling maze beneath the City of Light.

(04:21):
One of the most haunting legends associated with the Catacombs
is the ghostly whispering walls. Visitors to the underground tunnels
have reported hearing eerie and inexplicable whispers echoing throughout the
narrow passages. Some believed that the whispers are the restless
voices of the long deceased, trapped in the afterlife and

(04:44):
yearning for release. Others attribute the phenomenon to the atmospheric
acoustics of the tunnels, which can amplify even the faintest sounds,
creating a otherworldly experience. Legend has it that the Catacombs
are haunted by a specific figure known as the Phantom

(05:07):
of the Catacombs. According to the tale, this ghostly presence
roams the dark corners of the underground labyrinth, clad in
tattered clothes and carrying a flickering lantern. Encounters with the
Phantom are rare, but those who claim to have seen
it describe a feeling of deep unease and an unshakable

(05:30):
sense of being watched. The organ and purpose of the
Phantom remain a mystery, leaving many to wonder if it
is the spirit of a long forgotten soul or simply
a product of the imagination. Visitors to the Catacombs have
shared spine chilling stories of encountering a spectral tour guide

(05:53):
leading them through the tunnels. This ghostly figure is said
to be exceptionally knowledgeable about the catacom's history and effortlessly
navigates through the winding passages. However, as soon as the
tour is over or guests try to ask questions, the
guide vanishes into thin air, leaving visitors perplexed and unsettled

(06:17):
by the eerie experience. Among the vast array of bones
and skulls in the catacombs, some visitors have reported seeing
ghostly sculptures or apparitions formed by the arrangement of remains.
These eerie spectacles evoke a sense of surrealism and contribute

(06:38):
to the mystical and haunted ambience of the underground catacombs.
The sculptures's appearance often change, leaving many to speculate whether
they are the creations of the mind or manifestations of
the spirits that dwell within the catacombs. The Catacombs of

(06:58):
Paris stand as a chilling room reminder of the passage
of time and the mysteries that lie beneath the surface
of one of the world's most enchanting cities. The ghost
stories surrounding the catacombs add an air of mystery and intrigue,
drawing visitors seeking an unforgettable and haunting experience. The catacombs

(07:19):
serve as a profound memorial to the countless lives that
came before us, and the ghost stories are a testament
to the enduring human fascination with the afterlife and the unknown.
The Catacombs of Paris will forever remain a realm where
the boundary between the living and the dead blurs, and

(07:39):
where history and legend intertwine, shrouded in darkness and intrigue.

Winchester Mystery House, California.

Speaker 1 (10:19):
The Winchester Mystery House in San Jose, California is one
of the most intriguing and mysterious architectural landmarks in the
United States, and I've been there. It's pretty awesome. You
should definitely go check it out. It was built by
Sarah Winchester, the widow of the firearm tycoon William Wirt Winchester.

(10:40):
This sprawling mansion is renowned not only for its bizarre,
labyrinth psychedelic design, but also for the numerous tales of
hauntings and perormal activity that surround it. There's been many
ghosting encounters associated with the Winchester Mystery House. But this
thing is like a character all its own, so it's
also gods like. The building itself is its own character

(11:05):
on top of like all the ghost stuff. Because this
is like really like weird. It's hard to describe, but
the story of the Winchester Mystery House begins with Sarah Winchester,
a wealthy widow who inherited a vast fortune after the
death of her husband in eighteen eighty one. According to lore,

(11:29):
Sarah was haunted by the spirits of those killed by
the Winchester Rifles and consulted a medium who advised her
to move west and build a house to appease these spirits.
She purchased an eight room farmhouse in San Jose in
eighteen eighty four, and it began a literal endless construction
project that continued all the way till her death in

(11:51):
nineteen twenty two. The mansion grew to encompass twenty four
thousand square feet, featuring one hundred and sixty rooms, forty
seven fireplaces, ten thousand panes of glass, seventeen chimneys, and
numerous architectural features such as staircases leading to nowhere, doors

(12:13):
opening onto blank walls, and myriad secret passages. This labyrinthine
design is intended to confuse and ward off malevolent spirits. Basically,
since the beginning, the Winchester Mystery House has been reputed
to be haunted, with numerous reports of paranormal activity from visitors, staff,

(12:36):
and paranormal investigators. I said that I have been there,
and this is really the lame to admit it didn't
seem I mean, it's trippy to see it, obviously, but
I didn't have any cool encounters with anything, or any
paranormal experiences or anything. It was actually really chill. So

(12:59):
that's lame. But I have been there, and it's incredibly interesting,
to say the least. It's like a psychedelic ancient mansion labyrinth.
You do not want to take mushrooms and go there.
But the main ghost and the most famous ghosts said
to hunt the mansion is that of Sarah Winchester herself,

(13:20):
many believe that she continues to oversee the house's construction
even in death. Her apparition has been spotted in various
parts of the house, most frequently in her favorite rooms,
such as the seance Room, the Spookiest Room, where she
purportedly communicated with spirits, and as the Ghostly Carpenter. He's

(13:42):
one of the most commonly reported apparitions and is that
of a ghostly carpenter, often seen still working on unfinished
sections of the house. Visitors have described seeing a man
of old fashioned work clothes hammering away at the walls
or carrying tools, only to vavish suddenly when you actually
stare at him. Another spectral figure often seen by visitors

(14:06):
as a man pushing a wheelbarrow in the basement, believed
to be one of the many laborers who worked on
the house. This ghostly figure is often spotted out of
the corner of one's eye and disappearing when you actually
focus in on him. The Winchester Mystery House is a
hot spot for paranormal activity, with reports ranging from eerie
sounds to physical encounters. It's got all the good stuff,

(14:30):
like the staff, and visitors frequently hear unexplained noises throughout
the house, such as footsteps, banging doors, and disembodied voices.
These sounds often occur in empty rooms or corridors, adding
to the place's eerie, psychedelic ambience. You know, and then
you got your typical cold spots. They're pretty much around

(14:52):
in the hallways and the areas that are believed to
be the most haunted. There's also some Poultergeist activity going on.
Several witnesses have reported seeing objects move on their own,
such as doors opening and closing, lights flickering, and furniture
shifting positions. These occurrences are often attributed to the restless

(15:14):
spirits that supposedly inhabit the house who are killed by
the Winchester rifle. And then there's the phantom touches. Some
visitors have experienced the unsettling sensation of being touched or
tapped by unseen hands. These experiences often described as still

(15:35):
light brush or a gentle nudge. Nothing too bad overall,
though pretty mid concerning paranormal activity. I think. While the
entire Winchester and Mystery House is deeped in mystery and
ghost tales, certain areas of the mansion are particularly notorious
for their paranormal activity, such as the seance Room, obviously

(15:58):
because she spent all her time summoning spirits there, But
this room is said to be the epicenter of the
mansion's paranormal activity for good reason. It was here that
Sarah Winchester supposedly communicated with the spirits and got instructions
and what not on what to do with the house.
Many visitors report feeling an oppressive presence in the room,

(16:19):
along with strange noises and inexplicable cold drafts. Next haunted
location or you know the hotspot is the Hall of Fires,
named for its numerous fireplaces and most of them unnecessary
and don't make sense. This area was reportedly built to
keep spirits warm. Visitors have reported seeing ghostly apparitions and

(16:43):
hearing disembodied voices in this part of the mansion, but
overall it's just kind of weird having all these fireplaces
that are illogical. Next is the Daisy Bedroom. This room
was where Sarah Winchester was trapped in the nineteen oh
six earthquake. It is said that her spirit is particularly

(17:04):
active there, with reports of the room's door opening and
closing on its own and the bed shaking inexplicably to
anyone who actually decides to sleep in it. Yeah, that's
a note for me. Next is the Grand Ballroom. This
opulent room is another hotspot for ghostly activity. Visitors and

(17:27):
staff have reported seeing ghostly figures dancing or standing in
the corners of the room, as well as hearing music
playing from an unseen source sounds kind of like the Shining.
The Winchester Mystery House has attracted the attention of numerous

(17:47):
paranormal investigators and television shows, including Ghost Adventures, Most Haunted,
and Ghost Hunters. These investigations and yielded various pieces of
evidence suggesting paramium activity in a variety of ways, such
as EVPs I explained shadows, and of course the eerie

(18:11):
occurrences of just all the other categories that we already
talked about. If you're ever in San Jose and you
got the courage to go check this place out, definitely
go explore the Winchester Mystery House. It offers a range
of tours, including daytime tours that focus on the house's
history and architecture, and nighttime flashlight tours that delve into

(18:33):
its ghostly legends. The latter is the good one do
the ghost tour and even though I didn't experience anything,
and I didn't even feel scared or dark energy, nothing.
But even though that was my experience, it doesn't mean
it's going to be yours. And it's fun. I had

(18:54):
a blast. I went with my then time girlfriend and yeah,
it was just really fun. Do it. She's my wife now.
But the Winchester Mystery House stands as a testament to
one woman's grief and obsession, as well as a monument
to the unknown. It's peculiar design and tragic history have

(19:14):
given rise to countless ghost stories and paranormal encounters, making
it well at least people try to say it's one
of the most haunted places in the United States. I
would beg to differ, like, maybe it is, maybe it isn't, whatever,
But if you're gonna call someplace the most haunted place
in America or the United States or whatever, I could
better give me a creepy ass feeling. But I could

(19:36):
be wrong, and it is the most haunted place in
the United States. But people do like to say that,
even though there's way more haunted areas. But whatever, And
whether you're a skeptic or believer, at the Winchester Mystery House.
It offers us a lot. It's still going to be
really interesting, so if you're ever in San Jose, go
check it out. Orserum Savannah, Savannah, Georgia, often referred to

(20:19):
as one of the most haunted cities in the United States,
as a treasure trove of ghostly tales and supernatural lore.
Among its numerous haunted sites, Forsyth Park stands out as
a central hub of paranormal activity. This grotesque park, with

(20:41):
its iconic fountain and sprawling live oak trees draped in
Spanish moss, is not just a haven for tourists and locals,
it's also a hotspot for ghost hunters and those fascinated
by the supernatural. Established in the eighteen forties, Forsyth Park

(21:01):
is a thirty acre public park located in the historic
district of Savannah. Named after Georgia Governor John Forsyth, the
park has been a central gathering place for the community
for over a century and features beautiful walking paths, recreational areas,
and the famous Forsyth Fountain, which was added in eighteen

(21:25):
fifty eight and modeled after fountains in Paris and Peru.
The park's rich history and its location in a city
steeped in both beauty and tragedy have contributed to its
reputation as a paranormal hotspot. The Civil War, yellow Fever epidemics,

(21:46):
and countless personal tragedies have all left their mark on Savannah,
and Forsyth Park is no exception. One of the most
significant sources of paranormal activity in Forsyth Park is the
nearby Candler Hospital, the oldest hospital in Georgia, established back
in eighteen oh four. The hospital building adjacent to the park,

(22:10):
known as the Old Candler Hospital, has a dark history
that includes striating Civil War soldiers and housing an infamous
morgue in the basement. The hospital is rumored to have
a tunnel system beneath it, which was used to transport
bodies during the yellow fever epidemics. This network of tunnels

(22:31):
supposedly connects to the park itself, contributing to the eerie atmosphere.
Ghost sidings in this area often include apparitions of nurses, soldiers,
and patients who suffered and died within the hospital's walls.
The Forsyth Fountain, a central feature of the park, is

(22:52):
not just a picturesque landmark. It's also said to be
a focal point of paranormal activity. Some visitors have reported
seeing ghostly figures around the fountain, particularly at night. These
apparitions are often described as Victorian era women and children,
suggesting that the spirits may be tied to the time

(23:14):
when the fountain was first installed. One of Savannah's most
endearing legends is that of the Waving Girl Florence Martis.
Although her story is more closely associated with the Savannah River,
some claim that her spirit has been seen in Forcyth
Park as well. Florence Martis spent over forty years waving

(23:37):
to ships from her home on Elba Island, hoping to
catch a glimpse of a lost lover who never returned.
Some park visitors have reported seeing a woman in white
waving near the edges of the park, only to disappear
when approached. Beyond the specific legends, Forsyth Park is rife

(23:58):
with reports of general ghostly activity. Visitors and paranormal investigators
have experienced the following cold spots, unexplained drops in temperature
often felt near the fountain and in the shaded areas
of the park, disembodied voices, whispering and murmuring, voices that

(24:20):
seem to come from nowhere, often heard in the early
morning or late at night. Straight up apparitions in period
clothing seen walking along the park's paths or standing still
before vanishing suddenly. Unexplained sounds are often heard there, footsteps,

(24:41):
the sound of rustling leaves when there is no wind,
and even faint crying or moaning, which is super creepy.
One of the most chilling tales associated with Forsyth Park
involves the so called Hanging Tree, an ancient live oak
that is said to have been used for executions in

(25:02):
the past. While the exact location of this tree is
a matter of local lore and debate, some believe it
still stands within the park. Visitors have reported feeling an
overwhelming sense of dread near certain trees, and some claim
to have seen ghostly figures hanging from the branches, only
to disappear upon closer inspection. Forsyth Park, with its serene

(25:29):
beauty and rich history, is a quintessential part of Savannah's charm.
Yet beneath the picturesque surface lies a tapestry of ghostly
tales and paranormal activity. Whether it's the lingering spirits of
those who suffered in the nearby candl Or Hospital, the
mysterious figures seen near the Forcyth Fountain, or the chilling

(25:50):
presence felt near the alleged Hanging Tree. The park is
a must visit for anyone interested in the supernatural. As
with many haunted locations, the stories and experiences vary, but
they all contribute to the enigmatic allure afore Sith Park.
For those who believe in ghosts, the park offers a

(26:13):
tantalizing glimpse into the other worldly, and for skeptics it
remains a beautiful and historic location with an added layer
of intrigue and local folklore. Reynham Hall, a majestic and

(27:39):
historic country house located in Norfolk, England, is not only
renowned for its architectural beauty and rich history, but also
for its reputation as one of the most haunted houses
in the country. The hall has been the residence of
the Townsend family for nearly four hundred years and is

(28:00):
famously associated with one of the most famous ghost photographs
ever taken, The Brown Lady of Rainham Hall. So let's
dive into this place's eerie history and supernatural phenomena that
make Rainham Hall a focal point for ghost hunters and
paranormal enthusiasts. Rainham Hall was completed in sixteen thirty seven

(28:26):
and has since remained in the possession of the town's
hand of family. The house exemplifies Jacobean architecture and is
surrounded by beautiful gardens in park land. Throughout its history,
Rainham Hall has hosted numerous historical figures, including King George
the Fourth and Horace Woolpool. However, it's the hall's ghostly

(28:49):
inhabitants that have garnered the most attention. The most famous
ghost associated with Rainham Hall is obviously the Brown Lady,
name for her brown attire she is said to wear.
The Brown Lady is widely believed to be the spirit
of Lady Dorothy Walpole, the sister of Sir Robert Walpole,

(29:10):
Britain's first Prime Minister. Dorothy married to Charles Townsend, second
Viscount Townsend, but her life was marked by tragedy and scandal.
According to the legend, Dorothy was imprisoned in Raynham Hall
by her jealous husband after he allegedly discovered an affair.

(29:33):
She died there in seventeen twenty six under mysterious circumstances.
Though the official cause was smallpox, quote many believe her
restless spirit haunts the hall seeking justice or solace. The
most compelling evidence of the Brown Lady's existence came in

(29:57):
nineteen thirty six, when photographers Captain Hubert Ravand and Indra
Shira were taking pictures of Rainham Hall for Country Life magazine.
They captured an image of a spectral figure descending the
giant staircase, which became one of the most famous and

(30:17):
scrutinized ghost photographs of all time. The photo shows a
translucent figure dressed in a brown gown, seemingly floating down
the steps. Skeptics have attempted to debunk the photograph, but
it remains a compelling piece of paranormal evidence. Beyond the

(30:43):
Brown Lady, Rainham Hall is said to be home to
several other spirits and lots of unexplained phenomena. Visitors and
residents have reported the following. Apparitions out of figures and
ghostly presences have been seen in various parts of the house,

(31:05):
often vanishing as quickly as they appear. Disembodied voices, whispering, murmuring,
and even the sound of laughter have been heard in
the empty rooms, adding to the hall's pretty eerie atmosphere.
Cold spots another common one in basically all hauntings everywhere.

(31:29):
They're just sudden and unexplained drops in temperature, and they
usually are accompanied by a shiver through the body or
a feeling of being watched. Then there's the unexplained smells.
Visitors have occasionally reported the scent of lavender or will
perfume wafting through the halls with no point of origin.

(31:54):
This is believed to be associated with the spirit of
Lady Dorothy. Rooms in Rainham Hall are actually particularly noted
for their paranormal activity, such as the following The King's Bedroom.
This room, named after the visit of King George the Fourth,

(32:18):
is a hot spot for ghostly sightings. Some have seen
the figure of a woman dressed in brown standing by
the bed, believed to be Lady Dorothy herself. The staircase
is another hot spot. It's where the famous photograph was taken,
and it's often described as the epicenter of paranormal activity.

(32:40):
Visitors report feeling a sudden chill or the sensation of
being pushed by a nonseen force The dining room is
another hot spot ghostly dinners are said to take place there,
with the sound of clinking glasses and cutlery being heard
when the room is empty. Raynham Hall has been the

(33:06):
subject of numerous paranormal investigations over the years. Ghost hunters
and mediums have visited the hall hoping to communicate with
its spectral residents. While some investigations yield inconclusive results, many
have reported encountering strong paranormal activity, particularly in the areas

(33:28):
associated with the Brown Lady. Rainham Hall stands as a
testament to England's rich history and its penchant for ghostly legends.
There are lots. The story of the Brown Lady, bolstered
by one of the most famous photographs ever taken, continues
to captivate an intrigue. Whether you're a believer in the

(33:50):
supernatural or a skeptic, the haunting allure of Rainham Hall
is undeniable. It's basically just a horror movie in real life.
The embodiments of the haunted mansion cliche if you would.

Speaker 4 (34:19):
For botnet, hard tape for courage swee.

Speaker 1 (34:23):
Today, tucked away in a small village of Borovagnet lies
one of the country's most infamous haunted locations. Built in
eighteen seventy six, this unassuming vicarage has garnered a reputation
for being one of the most haunted places in Sweden,
drawing paranormal enthusiasts and curious visitors from around the world.

(34:48):
It's been a focal point for numerous ghost stories and
paranormal investigations. Bourgatnet's Vicarage was constructed to serve as the
residence for local clergy. Over the years, several vicars and
their families lived in the house, and it was during
their tenures that reports of strange occurrences began to surface.

(35:11):
The first documented case of paranormal activity dates back to
the nineteen twenties, with numerous reports following over the decades,
making the vicarage a site of continuous supernatural intrigue. The
first recorded account of hauntings at this place came from
chaplain Niltz Headlund, who lived there in nineteen twenty seven.

(35:37):
Headland reported numerous inexplicable events, including laundry being mysteriously torn
down from the line and furniture being moved by unseen forces.
These disturbances were only the beginning of a series of
unsettling occurrences that would plague the vicarage. The most common
reports of paranormal activity there are basically apparitions. Specific These

(36:02):
spectral figures are often seen throughout the house, leading to
an atmosphere of constant unease for its occupants and visitors.
A Gray Lady is one of the most frequently seen apparitions,
and it's that of a gray clad woman. Visitors have

(36:22):
reported seeing her wandering throughout the house, often disappearing through
the walls or vanishing into thin air. There's also the
Three old Women. In the nineteen forties, a vic car
named Eric Lindgrenn reported seeing three old women sitting in
a room quietly weeping. He described them as appearing so

(36:47):
lifelike that it took a moment for him to realize
that they were ghosts. This sighting remains one of the
most chilling accounts associated with the vicarage. Beyond just the
ghostly sightings, though, there's other paranormal activity that occurs, such
as poultergeist activity. There's a plethora of reports of objects

(37:10):
moving on their own, lights flickering, and doors opening and
closing by themselves. This is all just pretty common, and
these disturbances often occur at night. Adding to the house's
eerie atmosphere. One of the most haunted areas at the
Vicarage is the guest room. Many who have stayed overnight

(37:33):
reported being awakened by a heavy, oppressive feeling, as if
someone or something were pressing down on them. Some have
even felt an invisible force pulling at their bedclothes or
attempting to push them out of the bed. Weird, do
not mess with me when I'm sleeping. Demons, give me break.

(37:58):
Over the years, the Vicarage has attracted numerous paranormal investigators
hoping to document its supernatural activity. Many have captured evidence,
including photos of apparitions, unexplained shadows, and electronic voice phenomena EVP.
These investigations have only added to the Vicarage's haunted reputation.

(38:23):
One notable investigation involved Swedish television's ghost hunting show I
Don't know how to pronounce his name Derikanda the unknown
is what it's called which in what episode featured the Vicarage.
The show's team experienced several unexplained occurrences, including stranger noises

(38:45):
and sudden drops in temperature, further solidifying the house's status
as a parimormal hotspot. Vorg Vatnet Haunted Vicarage stands as
a testament to Sweden's rich tapestry of stories and haunted history.
It's blend of spectral sightings, altergeist activity, and unexplained phenomena

(39:07):
make it a compelling destination for those interested in the weird.
Whether you're a seasoned ghost hunter or a scared Nube,
this place has some pretty spine chilling experiences if you
want to visit it. For those brave enough to spend
a night in the Vicarage, the spirits may just offer

(39:27):
a glimpse into a world beyond our understanding. As you
explore its haunted halls and rooms, just remember that you're
not alone.

Speaker 4 (39:52):
Jazert al Ama, United Arab Emirates.

Speaker 1 (40:01):
An abandoned village and the United Air of Emirates, is
renowned not just for its historical significance, but also for
its eerie atmosphere and tales of supernatural occurrences. Jazit al Hamra,
Once a thriving pearl fishing community, the village now stands
the ghost town, attracting both history and enthusiasts and those

(40:25):
intrigued by the paranormal. Jazarat al Hamra means red Island,
and was established in the fourteenth century and flourished as
a prosperous fishing and pearling village until the twentieth century.
The inhabitants, primarily from the al Zabi tribe, lived in

(40:47):
traditional coral and mud brick houses. However, by the nineteen
sixties the village was mysteriously abandoned, leaving behind an array
of well preserved buildings that provide a snapshot of a
life in the pre oil era of the UAE. The
reasons behind the abandonment of this town is subject to speculation.

(41:15):
Some believe it was due to economic changes and the
lure of modern amenities in nearby cities, while others suggest
more mysterious forces at play. I mean, come on, it's
obviously jin. The sudden departure of its residents has fueled
numerous ghost stories and legends, making it one of the

(41:38):
most haunted places in the UAE. The eerie silence and
king structures of jazaridal Hamra have given rise to a
plethora of supernatural tales. Visitors and paranormal investigators report various
types of ghostly activity, including apparitions, disembodied voices, and other

(42:00):
unexplained phenomena. The disembodied voices in the area are usually
reported as chanting or calling out in Arabic, sometimes whispering.
Pretty creepy stuff. You also have your traditional Poultergeist activity
there and myriad apparitions as well as shadow figures. Many

(42:26):
have reported seeing dark, shadowy figures darting around corners or
standing in the windows of abandoned buildings. These figures disappear
as quickly as they appear, leaving the witnesses shaken. I
know that would trip me out. While the entire village

(42:47):
of Jazzard Alhamra is said to be haunted, there are
specific spots that are particularly notorious for paranormal activity, such
as the Old Ma The mosque is one of the
most haunted spots. Paranormal investigators have reported hearing chants like

(43:08):
religious chants emanating from the empty building, along with sightings
of shadowy figures inside while they're hearing these weird religious chants.
The school is another hot spot. Reportedly, there's sounds of children, laughing, running,
and playing often heard there, despite the building being deserted

(43:30):
for decades. The houses themselves are also pretty creepy because
there's a lot of reports of people seeing images like
outlines of people within the buildings, but when they investigate,
no one's there. The local legends that surround this mysterious

(43:55):
ghost town are pretty interesting because some say that the
village is haunted by Jin obviously, and I'm pretty sure
you know what Jin are, right, listener, the supernatural beings
from Islamic mythology, capable of possessing humans and causing tons
and tons of mischief. According to these tales, the Jin

(44:18):
were angered by the villager's departure and now roamly abandoned streets,
and a lot of the apparitions and ghost sightings are
actually these Jin, not the souls of departed humans. Another
legend speaks of a curse being placed upon the village
by an old woman who was wronged by the community.

(44:40):
Her spirit is said to wander the village, seeking revenge
and causing disturbances and just spooking the crap out of
anyone she can. Jazret Alhamra stands as a fascinating blend
of historical intrigue and paranormal mystery. It's abandoned buildings and

(45:00):
silent streets provide a haunting backdrop for many ghost stories
and legends that have emerged over the years. Whether you're
a skeptic or believer, this place would creep the shit
out of you. It's a glimpse into a world where
doesn't quite fit the modern world, but doesn't quite fit

(45:22):
what we would think of as the past either. It's
a liminal space, so perfect version and very folklore right.
That's where they love to be, and for those brave
enough to explore Jazzerith's Alhamra, promises of unforgettable experiences filled
with echoes of the past and whispers from the beyond

(45:44):
are promised. However, sadly it is insanely dangerous to try
and go and visit this place. So yeah, probably not
going to happen. But if you ever do, get to go,
have fun staring at the long departed residence, watching from
the shadows. Once you look at that, a ghost spilt

back right after a quick break. You're listening to crypto chronicles.

Speaker 1 (51:46):
From you, Boston. The Dock Street Theater, located in the

(52:11):
heart of Charleston, South Carolina, is one of America's oldest
theaters and a treasure trove of historical and cultural significance.
Since its inception in seventeen thirty six, the theatre has
been a cornerstone of Charleston's artistic community. However, beyond its
reputation as a cultural landmark, Dock Street Theater is also

(52:36):
famed for its ghostly residence and paranormal activity. This was
the first building in America designed exclusively for theatrical performances.
The original theater, located on Church Street, was destroyed by
a fire in seventeen forty. The Planter's Hotel was then

(52:58):
built on the site in eighteen oh nine. In nineteen
thirty five, the Works Progress Administration restored the building, incorporating
elements of the original theater and transforming it into the
Dock Street Theater we know today. The theater has hosted

(53:21):
countless performances, from early colonial plays to contemporary productions. Its
rich history, combined with the numerous renovations and transformations over
the centuries, has contributed to a tapestry of ghostly tales
and unexplained phenomena. One of the most famous spirits said

(53:45):
to haunt the Dock Street Theater is that of Nettie Dickerson,
a young woman who met a tragic end in the
nineteenth century. Nettie, a former prostitute, lived in the Planter's Hotel.
She longed for a more respectable life and often dressed
in elegant attire, hoping to attract a wealthy suitor. According

(54:10):
to legend, Nettie's hopes were never realized. She was struck
by lightning while standing on the balcony of the hotel,
resulting in her untimely death. Those odds are really bad,
So holy wow. Her spirit is often seen in a

(54:35):
red dress, the same one she wore when she died.
Many witnesses have reported seeing Nettie wandering the balconies on
the second floor dressing rooms, her forlorn figure adding a
melancholic presence to the theater. Another ghost that haunts Dock
Street Theater is believed to be Junius Brutus Booth, the

(54:59):
famous nineteenth century actor and the father of John Wilkes Booth,
the assassin that killed Abraham Lincoln. Junius Brutus Booth was
known for his passionate and sometimes erratic performances. No there
is no concrete evidence that he performed at Dock Street Theater.

(55:19):
Local lore suggests his spirit lingers in the building, but
how his spirit got there is not well documented. Booth's
ghost is often described as a tall, shadowy figure dressed
in period clothing. He is known to make his presence
felt during performances, sometimes disrupting productions with unexplained noises and

(55:43):
sudden cold spots. Actors and staff have reported feeling an
eerie presence in the backstage areas, attributing to the disturbances
to Booth's restless spirit. Doc Street Theft is rife with
reports of paranormal activity that go beyond the sightings of

(56:05):
Neddie Dickerson and Junius Brutus Booth. Visitors and staff have
experienced a variety of unexplained phenomena. Many have heard whispered conversations, laughter,
and even screams emanating from empty rooms and corridors, shadowy figures,

(56:26):
and ghostly apparitions are often seen flitting through the theater,
especially in the balconies and backstage areas. Given its haunted reputation,
Dock Street Theater has become a popular destination for ghost
tours and paranormal investigations. Local tour companies often include the theater,

(56:52):
regalling visitors with the spine shilling tales of its ghostly inhabitants.
Paranormal investigators frequently visit the theater equipped with all the
modern ghost hunting technology you can think of. They got
emf meters, thermal cameras, and other ghost hunting tools, basically
everything you could think of, all in the hopes of

(57:13):
capturing something or some evidence of the supernatural. Probably the
most well known investigation that took place was by the
people who do the Ghost Hunters show. I'm sure you've
heard of them, but they yielded several intriguing findings, including
videotape of unexplained shadows and audio recordings of disembodied voices.

(57:37):
These investigations have only added to the theater's mystique and allure.
When I've mentioned ghost Hunters in the past, some of
my listeners think that they are pretty cringe, but just
give this episode a chance. It's probably one of the
better ones that they have. Check it out if you've

(58:00):
got the time or care. The Dock Street Theater stands
as a beacon of Charleston's rich cultural heritage and a
testament to its storied past. Its blend of historical significance
and paranormal activity makes it a unique and compelling destination

(58:22):
for basically anyone interested in ghosts and the supernatural.

Speaker 4 (58:26):
And like many of the.

Speaker 1 (58:29):
Haunted locations that I've talked about in this episode, you
can visit this place. Go do it and tell me
what it's like. Whether you're attending a performance or embarking
on a ghost tour, the theater offers an unforgettable experience
where history and hauntings converge. For those brave enough to

(58:52):
explore its haunted halls, Dock Street Theater promises a glimpse
into a world where the past is ever present and
the spirits of those who once walked its corridors continue
to make their presence felt. Ports Arthur, Tasmania on the

(59:30):
wild and rugged Tasmanian Peninsula lives Port Arthur, a UNESCO
World Heritage Listed Historic site and former penal colony, well
known for its beautiful landscape and rich convict history, Port
Arthur is also renowned for its ghostly inhabitants and hunting

(59:52):
tales of the past. First established in eighteen thirty as
a penal settlement for convicts transport from Britain to Ireland,
over the course of several decades, thousands of convicts were
sent to Port Arthur, where they endured harsh conditions and
ruling labor. The site was designed to be escape proof,

(01:00:16):
with its natural surroundings of rugged cliffs and shark infested
waters serving as a formidable barrier. Nobody's going to mess
with sharks. Despite its dark history, Port Arthur is now
just a kind of a vanilla popular tourist destination, offering

(01:00:39):
visitors a glimpse into Australia's convict past. However, beneath its
strength will facade lies elabyrinth, the prison ruins and haunted
buildings that serve as a chilling reminder of the suffering
endured by its former inhabitants. Port Arthur is said to
be haunted by the spirit of not only convicts, but

(01:01:01):
also sailors as well as other individuals who met their
tragic ends within the walls. Visitors and staff have reported
numerous ghostly encounters and unexplained phenomena adding to the site's
eerie atmosphere. And it's just all around got a bad
aura to it. Doesn't feel good being there. One of

(01:01:25):
the most famous ghosts of Port Arthur is known as
the Lady in Blue. According to legend, she was the
wife of a high ranking official who tragically drowned in
the waters surrounding the sight. Her spirit is often seen
wandering the grounds, dressed in a flowing blue gown and

(01:01:46):
emitting anotherwardly glow. For the most part, though many of
these spirits don't have names or titles. They're the restless
souls of convicts who perished at Port Arthur and are
said to roam the ruins of the buildings. Often in
the corridors of these ruined prison buildings is usually where

(01:02:10):
you find these apparitions. Most of the time, there's a
warning that they're around by footsteps or just odd echoes
coming from around the corners of these dark corridors. Shortly
after one can see something lurking in the darkness. The

(01:02:32):
most frightening of these entities, they stand there looking at you,
not moving but others act in the normal way that
you would think ghosts would act. And that's even if
you can stay in these creepy prison building corridors in
the first place, Because even in the most pristine conditions

(01:02:55):
one can't enter them, it's still overwhelmingly disturbing and creepy.
This haunted location is known for its overwhelming just energy
in the air of darkness. But that's not all. Just
off the coast of Port Arthur lies the Isle of

(01:03:15):
the Dead, a small cemetery where over one thousand convicts
and prison staff were laid to rest. Many believe that
the spirits of the deceased haunt the island, and eerie
apparitions and strange noises have been reported by visitors exploring
this desolate landscape of the Isle of the Dead, though

(01:03:37):
it doesn't have the same aura of darkness as the
prison itself, and there's actually several buildings within Port Arthur
that are notorious for their paranormal activity, drawing visitors eager
to experience encounters with the supernatural. There's this separate prison

(01:03:58):
built to impose strict discipline on convicts through solitary confinement
and silent reflection. The separate Prison is one of the
most haunted buildings in Port Arthur. Visitors have feeling intense
feelings of sadness and despair, as well as hearing the
sound of disembodied whispers echoing through the darkened corridors. Then

(01:04:24):
there's the Parsonage, once the home of the Port Arthur Chaplain.
The Parsonage is said to be haunted by the spirits
of former residents. Guests staying overnight have reported hearing mysterious footsteps,
doors slimming shut on their own, and the sound of
phantom children playing in the halls, which is always super creepy.

(01:04:48):
Next is the Commandment's House, the former residence of the
Commandment of Port Arthur. This grand building is said to
be haunted by the spirits of its former occupants. Visitors
have reported seeing apparitions in period clothing, as well as
experiencing unexplained cold spots and sudden drops in temperature. But

(01:05:09):
at least it's not malevolent shadow figures. Right. Port Arthur
offers guided ghost tours and paranormal investigations for those brave
enough to explore its haunted history. These tours take the
visitors through the site's most haunted locations, sharing chilling stories

(01:05:33):
and offering the chance to experience firsthand encounters with the supernatural.
Sounds like we should go hand listener, sign me up today,
I'll meet you there. Several paranormal investigation teams have conducted
research at Port Arthur, using EMF meters and FRED cameras
and voice recorders to capture ghostly evidence activities specifically EVP

(01:05:58):
in that case, with their quarters. While some skeptics remain
unconvinced there's going to be lame people anywhere you go,
but many believe that the site is a hotbed of
paranormal phenomena, and I don't disagree. Port Arthur, with its
haunting beauty and tragic history, serve as a pretty blatant

(01:06:22):
reminder of Australia's convict past. From the desolate ruins of
its prison buildings to the eerie silence of the Isle
of the Dead, this site is steeped in tails of suffering,
hardship and loss. And I really can't tell some of
the stories of what happened here because it's that bad,

(01:06:45):
this place with human suffering and the most extreme excess,
which is probably why it has such a dark aura
about it. But for those who dare to explore it's
haunted halls. Port Arthur offers a spine angling journey into
the realm of the supernatural.

Speaker 3 (01:07:17):
No Long Seou, Indonniesia.

Speaker 1 (01:07:28):
Lawang Seou, which translates to a Thousand Doors in Japanese,
is a historic landmark located in Samarang, Indonesia. Built during
the Dutch colonial period of the early twentieth century, this
place is renowned for its grand architecture and intriguing history. However,

(01:07:50):
beneath its stately facade lies a dark and mysterious reputation
as one of Indonesia's most haunted buildings. Constructed between nineteen
o four and nineteen o seven as the headquarters of
the Dutch East Indies Railway Company, the building's design features

(01:08:12):
grand Neoclassical architecture with numerous doors and windows that give
rise to its name thousand Doors. Originally serving as the
main office for the railway company, Luang Seou later became
a Japanese military headquarters during World War II and the

(01:08:33):
prison during Indonesia's struggle for independence. Luong Sevu's haunted reputation
stems from a combination of its dark history and erie atmosphere.
Numerous legends and ghost stories have emerged over the years,
capturing the imagination of locals and thrill seekers or anybody

(01:08:55):
interested in oddity's and the darker side of life. During
World War II, among Sibu was used as a headquarters
for the Japanese military has already stated. It is said
that the Dutch soldiers who were captured and tortured by
the Japanese hunt the building and Japanese were really really

(01:09:20):
brutal and sadistically hardcore to anybody who surrendered during World
War II or before that, to the Bushio Code, anyone
who surrendered basically gave up all their rights as a
human being and were no more than trash to be
taken out honorless scum. Basically, in their culture, surrendering was

(01:09:42):
probably the worst thing you could do, so they treated
these people pretty bad, to say the least, and it's
said that the spirits of these victims are trapped within
its walls. The most famous apparitions is yet another white lady.

(01:10:02):
I know, we hear these all the time, and it's
pretty crazy just how many white ladies there are out
there in paranormal lore. But here we are again, this
ghostly apparition reported at loweng Sabu is that of a
woman dressed in white. According to legend, she was a
Dutch woman who committed suicide in the building after being
separated from her lover. Her ghost is often seen wandering

(01:10:26):
the halls, her mournful cries echoing through the empty corridors.
And I do just have to say, I am very
surprised at just how many white lady or lady in
white ghosts exist in paranormal lore, way more than you
think I ever thought at least. But the next ghost

(01:10:49):
is the headless ghost. This involves around the ghost of
a maintenance worker who was killed in an accident while
working on the building's elevator. It is said that his
headless spirit rome's the place, searching for vengeance against those
responsible for his death. The Monsabu's haunted reputation is supported

(01:11:11):
by numerous reports of paranormal activity and unexplained phenomena experienced
by visitors and staff alike. Phantom disembodied voices is common,
and doors love to shut on their own, especially if
somebody is standing right in front of them. The apparitions
that manifest here are twofold. Like the last prison place

(01:11:34):
we talked about in Australia. There's like regular ghosts, and
then there's shadow figures, shadow figures feeding on the fear
maybe and the ghosts trapped in limbo or just like
a constant replay of third Last moments. There'sn't no way

(01:11:54):
that any sentient spirit would ever stay here longer than
after death. But there is a pretty big population of
spirits here. Not too much poulter Geist like activity reported though,
other than the closing doors on their own, but still,
this place was a World War two Japanese torture den,
so these spirits are probably pretty ripped apart and not

(01:12:19):
happy among Sibu's haunted reputation has made it a popular
destination for ghost tours and paranormal investigations. Just don't bring
anything home with you. The tour companies offer guided incursions
through these creepy buildings. You know, they share the story

(01:12:41):
of World War two and all these stuff that came after.
That's probably pretty depressing. This one I don't recommend going to.
You don't want to experience this type of paranormal activity firsthand,
and you don't want to accidentally pick up a hitchhiker
that goes home with you. Several paranormal investigation teams have

(01:13:04):
conducted research at this place, and they've accumulated a bunch
of research and evidence of ghostly phenomena. But this is
probably one of the paranormal haunting type of environments that
attract demons and things worse than the spirits that were
or are trapped there. So caution if you ever want

(01:13:27):
to visit it. But in any case, the Mangsuu stands
as a haunting reminder of Indonesia's colonial history and a
testament to the cruelty of human nature. The aura of
sadistic violence and malice here is strong and should be
avoided by anyone who's even somewhat sensitive. The history behind

(01:13:48):
the spirits who are stuck here is probably as dark
as history can possibly get.

Speaker 5 (01:14:09):
Trans Lunatic Asylum, West Virginia.

Speaker 1 (01:14:20):
The trans alleganty Lunatic asylum, located in western West Virginia,
stands as a haunting testament to America's troubled history of
mental health care. Constructed in the mid nineteenth century, this
massive Gothic style structure once housed thousands of patients deemed

(01:14:41):
mentally ill. However, beyond its imposing walls and eerie corridors
as a darker, more chilling reality, a legacy of suffering, tragedy,
and currently stained with paranormal activity all around. There's unsettling
history to this place and brings out pitying someone who

(01:15:05):
sees the human suffering. The trans aleg An, a lunatic
asylum originally known as the Weston State Hospital, was designed
by architect Richard Andrews and opened its doors in eighteen
sixty four. Built to accommodate two hundred and fifty patients,
the asylum eventually became overcrowded, as they usually do, housing

(01:15:27):
over two thousand, four hundred patients at its peak in
the nineteen fifties. The institution operated until nineteen ninety four,
and during decades of controversy, neglect, and reports of patient abuse.
The asylum's troubled history has left a lingering imprint on
its halls, with numerous reports of paranormal activity and ghostly encounters.

(01:15:55):
Visitors and guests often report seeing ghosts who are wandering
throughout the asylum that appeared just like as how they
would have during their period. They have period clothing on,
looking out of place and time. Sometimes they are the doctors.
Sometimes they're the nurses, but most often they're the patients.

(01:16:17):
These apparitions pretty much all met tragic ends within the
asylum's walls, and if one explores through these haunted corridors,
often they hear phantom crying, wailing, or just people in
distress screams. And the way that this phantom disembodied voices

(01:16:41):
type of paranormal activity, just like echoes throughout the halls,
kind of makes people depressed because it's sad, you know.
Some accounts describe the voices as pleading for help or
expressing anguish, which is just gonna like unsettle anybody who
doesn't have a heart made of ice, right. It's just
a very very very eerie atmosphere, and the phantom disembodied

(01:17:05):
voices are extremely unsettling. Many times, the apparitions, when looked at,
just disappear in the thin air and in dark corners
and abandoned areas, treatment rooms, anywhere where there's nobody and
it's dark. Many reports have talked about shadow people looking
on from the darkness, and shadow people are known to

(01:17:27):
be anywhere where there is human suffering, but whether they
are actually there or this is just psychic residue it's
not really understood. This is because, according to paranormal lore,
there's nothing there for them to feed on anymore, so
why would they still be there. But several areas within
the Trance Allegeny Lunatic Asylum are more notorious for the

(01:17:50):
paranormal activity that happens there than other places at the facility,
drawing ghost hunters and thrill seekers from around the world
to come investigate. The forensic ward is one of the
main hotspots. This is where the patients were kept to
were considered mentally insane, so this is the area that

(01:18:12):
would be like Arkham Asylum from Batman. It's where the violent,
insane people would be put that are danger to themselves
and others. This area is particularly haunted, and visitors have
reported feeling an overwhelming sense of dread and unease while
exploring the area, along with sightings of shadow figures and

(01:18:35):
of course the creepy, disembodied voices that litter this place.
The medical center is another one of the most haunted
hotspots of the asylum, and that makes sense because this
is where patients would be experimented on. Lots of these
treatments back then were just experimental treatments. And procedures, and
there was no filter or check some balances, anybody keeping

(01:18:59):
tabs on what is moral or what is humanim was not.

Speaker 6 (01:19:04):
So at.

Speaker 1 (01:19:05):
Let's just say that a lot of messed up stuff
happened here. Investigators have reported hearing sounds of medical equipment
being used and witnessing apparitions of doctors and nurses conducting procedures.
Pretty creepy. This reminds me of a movie I can't
remember off the top of my head, but basically the

(01:19:27):
same story. The asylum got filled with like such horrific
sentient energy that it actually became sentient and it like
can trap people inside of it, like it's an alternative
mention or something. It's a pretty good one. Sequels not
as good though. The isolation ward is next. These are

(01:19:50):
this is like the solitary confinement area. It's like total isolation,
and if you don't know, like enduring too much isolation
darkness causes people to go insane, So it was probably
pretty horrific. The isolation more is set to be haunted
by these people who went mad and now they're trapped

(01:20:12):
within their madness forever. Reports say that there's lots of
ghostly apparitions here and feelings of intense sadness and despair.
This place two offers guided tours if you want to
go check it out. I mean I would. This sounds

(01:20:33):
pretty fun, right, not in a way that's like getting
fun off of suffering, but just interesting in a dark way.
These tours take visitors through the asylum's most notorious hotspots,
sharing stories of all the ghostly encounters that go down there,
both with the staff and historically, and you get to
experience all this firsthand, hopefully even experience paramormal phenomena firsthand.

(01:20:56):
So this is definitely somewhere that I visit if I
ever had the opportunity, I go on one of these
tours easy and again like there have been several paranormal
investigation teams that have conducted all kinds of research here. Specifically,
their infrared cameras have caught some pretty interesting images. Everyone

(01:21:16):
in the know says that there's no denying that this
is a place of tortured souls of the past, and
doesn't seem like they're going anywhere. The trance of like
any lunatic asylum, stands as a haunting reminder of America's
troubled history of mental health care. It's imposing architecture and
dark history have made it a magnet for ghost hunters

(01:21:38):
and thrill seekers and anyone fascinated by the paranormal. Really,
and to anyone who visits this haunted asylum, it's bound
to leave a haunting impression. All right, that's all for
the free show. If you'd like to hear the whole episode,
got a Cryptochronicles of Patreon dot com and now I

(01:22:02):
hope to see you over there. We've still got a
lot of cool haunted stuff to talk about, and by
supporting the show, it means you won't be haunted. It's
not up to me. These shadow people haunt who they want,
and they say that if you don't give me a
dollar to support the show for you know, then they're
gonna come haunt you. It's not up to me. Sorry,

(01:22:25):
So I hope to see you there. If not, that's
