Bob Martin Show.

Speaker 3 (01:02):
Good day friends, this is the Doctor Bob Martin Show,
and I'm doctor Adam Brockman, and today we're starting with
a question many of you whisper to yourselves between those ums,
why won't my throat stop clearing even months after a cold?
If that sounds familiar. Take a breath. Your throat isn't
failing you, it's trying to protect you. So in a moment,

(01:24):
I'll guide you through and reveal the most common, most overlooked,
and most fixable reasons for chronic throat clearing and exactly
what to do about it. So let's reframe the worry
your body makes about a leader of mucus daily. Yes,
it's daily, and it quietly recycles most of it without

(01:44):
even any fanfare. After a virus, that mucus, it thickens
and trickles, tickling the throat, and it triggers a must
clear reflex. That's normal for a few weeks, but when
the loop drags on for six eight ten, worse in
the morning, often louder at night, it's a sign that
something else is nudging the reflex. So today we will

(02:07):
help you spot that something's off and how to fix
it with simple steps and know when it's time to
be checked. And of course, if you have health questions,
write down our toll free hotline or give us a call.
It's eight hundred six or six eight eight two to two.
That's eight hundred six or six eight eight two to two.
And also if you look in for some of our

(02:28):
health resources. You can go over to our website at
doctor Bob dot com. That's spelling out the word doctor
dct O r bob dot com. All right, folks, so
here's what we're going to explore in today's first story.
That lingering, that post nasal drip that gets has that
gentler drainage, a jumping nerve circuit in the voice box

(02:49):
that needs to be retrained, or that silent reflux where
the irritation shows up in your throat and not your chest,
and that under the radar trigger that fools a lot
of people. You know what this is, It's it's a
fruit tan sensitivity from foods like onions, garlic, and wheat.
So if your mornings or that symphony of clearing, you

(03:10):
may be dealing with one, two, or all of the above.
So this solution isn't to shout at your throat. It's
to lower the background noise. So let's go through some
simple steps like maybe how to hydrate smarter, drain the
nose without drying the throat, Maybe sleeping positions that keep
irritants down and swap out swap out harsh clearing for

(03:33):
a calm cord friendly routine sip, swallow, breathe and hum
so well layer in this brief, this low fruit tan trial,
then show you how to reintroduce foods to keep those
personal triggers with no guesswork and no guilt. And yes,
these red flags they matter. So if your voice is

(03:54):
staying hoarse beyond a few weeks, if swallowing food hurts
or food sticks, if you notice unexplained weight loss or
chest pain or coughing with blood, you don't need to
wait on those symptoms. That's the time that you need
to get seen. But most cases, most cases of the
throat are benign and they're fixable with some lifestyle changes.

(04:16):
A small fraction deserve that swift attention, So knowing the difference,
that's what we need to do. So my promise, in
this few short minutes, you'll have a clear checklist, a plan,
in the confidence to test what actually works for you.
So if you tried everything tonight, we'll try to tighten
that strategy without tightening your chest. And imagine tomorrow morning

(04:38):
you make your coffee and halfway through the first sip,
you realize you haven't cleared your throat once. So if
you've been apologizing your way through meetings or tiptoeing through
theaters and waking up to this morning chorus of hums.
Here's the most helpful reframe I can offer your throat

(04:58):
is that guardian that's not a pest. Humans produce again
about a leader of mucus daily and your body silently
swallows and recycles it. And after a cold that mucus
it thickens and it trickles down the back of your throat.
You have that post nasal drip and that tickling those
nerve endings and provoking that must clear reflex. And again

(05:19):
that's normal for a few weeks. When it lingers lingers
on for six eight weeks or more, that's when we
need to get curious and not panic. So something is
fueling that loop. So let's identify the driver and see
how we can change it. So let's talk about that
lingering post nasal drip. After a viral hit the nasal lining,

(05:41):
it can stay inflamed, producing the extra mucus that gravity
sends into the throat. Especially overnight, you wake up that
clearing like you're getting it all out the playbook. It's gentle.
So all you gotta do is a twice daily sailing
rint to reduce that swelling in those things, secretions and

(06:01):
hydration during the day to keep the mucus movable, and
a cool missed humidifier in the bedroom. And then you
got to have a little bit of patience. This alone
can settle that morning morning coughing fits or clearing the throat.
And as secondly, we have this jumpy nerve circuit at
what we maybe call a layering gerial hypersensitivity. After infections

(06:25):
are simply with aging the nerves in the throat. They
act like a smoke alarm that beeps at a stream.
The sensation is it gets maddening. You have that itch
that you can't scratch, almost like a feather in the throat.
So here we have this forceful clearing and it actually
makes the nerves even twitchier. The fix its retraining, and

(06:46):
so what you need to do is you need to
use the no clear swap whenever the urge hits, take
a small sip of ice cold sparkling water, swallow it.
You need to do a nasal and hail and a
smoke slow mouth exhale, and then a soft humor or
maybe even do a little scene. Two minutes of this

(07:09):
phonation about three to four times a day, and that
vibrates and moves the mucus without slamming those vocal cords,
and it dials down that hair trigger reflex over time,
so brings up the reflex. And again this is often silent.
You may feel heartburn, yet small amounts of stomach contents

(07:29):
that creep up high enough to irritate the throat. That
usually happens at night. Your body responds with that extra
mucus and the morning becomes a clearing routine. And because
of this long term high dose acid suppression, we have
some potential downsides. And it begins with mechanics and not medicine.
You finish dinner probably at least three hours before bed,

(07:51):
give time for your stomach to settle, and you keep
those late night portions small, and you elevate the head
of your bed maybe four to six inches, or you
use a little bit higher pillow. You sleep on your
left side, and go easy on that evening alcohol and
avoid smoking. It's a pretty pretty simple to make your

(08:12):
mornings quiet. With those simple those changes in your should
be on the right track there. Now, this is the
twist that many miss, and that's a fruit tan sensitivity,
and that that word it might sound new to you.
It's spelled f r U s t a N the
fruit tan sensitivity. It's an intolerance to certain fermentable carbohydrates

(08:33):
that happen in onions, garlic, wheat, and some fruits and
even some beans or lagoons. If your gut doesn't process
these fruit tans well gets gas pressure increases and then
when you lie flat in the in your your stomach
tissues uh in your in your esophagus relaxes. These tiny
amounts of fluid can linger and they irritate the throat

(08:55):
almost like that burn, that heartburn, but it provokes this
must clear reflex and that gets worse in the morning.
So if you notice your calmer after some onion or
garlic free dinners, you might have had a miss missing
link there. So again, folks, it should be pretty simple
on this to do this. But if you want to

(09:16):
stack five daily wins that you can do implement right away.
I suggest you chew spry gum for about ten minutes
after meals to stimulate saliva and neutralized acid. You can
swap mint tea for ginger or cammel at night. That
mint can help to relax lower esophageal spincter for a
little bit of time, and then take a gentle ten

(09:37):
to fifteen minute walk after dinner to speed up the
GI emptying, and practice two minutes of that really slow breathing,
deep breathing. After your last breath inhale through your nose
about four four seconds. Exhale for about six seconds. And
I also suggest you keep some bedside sparkling water and

(09:59):
you can just reach for a a sip. You can
do that throughout the night. That may may help you
from doing that hard clearing. So today I suggest that
as far as far as parting encouragement, your throat is
just trying to help you with these. A few of
these simple shifts, like eating earlier, lighter meals in the evenings,

(10:21):
you can create these calmer nasal passages. You can create
a gentler voice for yourself. And then look at this
brief fruit tan experiment where you can eliminate some of
some of those high high causation foods like garlic or onions.
And so most people, if you implement these, they will
watch that morning a hum fade so you can picture it.

(10:42):
You wake up, you make your coffee, and you realize
you haven't cleared once. It's not wishful thinking. That's a
week or two of these smart, steady steps. All right,

Doctor Bob Martin Show caller hotline. That's eight hundred six
aero six eight eight two to two. All right, let's

(12:34):
go ahead and start with a caller question from Jeff
in Crawfordsville, Indiana.

Speaker 4 (12:42):
Yeah, I'm My name is Jeff Moore, live in Indiana, Crawfordsville, Indiana,
fifty five years old. I've had a high cluster all
my life taking.

Speaker 5 (12:56):
A drugs.

Speaker 4 (12:57):
Didn't take Staton, so they gave me next Lie. So
I listened to your radio show and I decided to
get off it after this old and my joints are
feeling so much better, and I'm feeling so much better,
but unfortunately my cholesterol, I said, went to the roof again.
It's like two hundred and eighty or something like that.

Speaker 5 (13:17):
But I did hike HDL.

Speaker 4 (13:21):
I listened to your program on the radio on the
way from Nebraska, where I was from, and I thought
it was pretty interesting. So anyway, my thing is is
I just want to know what exactly should I do
to take stuff besides cholesterol. My number is seven sixty
five three, seven sixty three, two sixty three.

Speaker 5 (13:39):
I don't know if you'll call me or not, but
if not, I'll maybe call you later and go in
a different direction. Thank you for everything, and we'll talk
to you maybe later.

Speaker 3 (13:51):
By all right, thank you for your call, Jeff. And
first I want to say that before taking removing any medication,
consult with your doctor on that. But you know, I
am glad that you're feeling better. But you mentioned that
your cholesterol is around two hundred and eighty. In your
HDL the good cholesterol is high. That that's actually an

(14:14):
important piece of this picture which matters most is the
ratio of HDL to LDL, the bad cholesterol and the triglycerides.
So not just the total number, but when the HDL
the good cholesterol is high in triglycerides are low, the
risk profile can be very different than the role numbers suggests.
So a few suggestions to focus on healthy fats like

(14:38):
wildcought salmon, walnuts, avocados. Also to increase your fiber intake.
Support your liver since the cholesterol is produced and process
and the liver keeping it healthy is crucial. So we're
talking about foods vegetables like broccoli, kale, cauliflower. And if
you need some extra help there, maybe tumeric or kurcumin

(14:58):
will help, suggest that you move and then also keep
your doctor in the loop here. Check for inflammation. Ask
your doctor about something known as sea reactive protein levels.
So if that inflammation is high, that's more of a
concern than the cholesterol number itself. So again, Jeff, I
think you're on the right track. Keep listening to your body,

(15:19):
consult with your doctor, and stay active, keep going, and
let's make sure these numbers in your joints stay healthy
and happy. All right, thank you for your call, Jeff.
Let's go ahead and get to our health alternative of
the week. All right, it's time for our health alternative

(15:47):
of the week, and it's ground flax seed. It's a
two tablespoon habit that loves your heart. So what if
I told you a twenty cents a day food could
nudge down your LDL cholesterol, It could smooth out your digestion,
It contain your cravings once you try it. Today's health
altern of the Week is ground flax seed. So I

(16:07):
want to tell you how it works, how much to use,
and how to start. And the best part, it's in
nearly every grocery store, so no special order powders are needed.
So let's talk about winds that you can feel. First,
it's heart healthy. Ground flax seed brings soluble fiber in
plant based omega threes and that supports healthier LDL levels,

(16:32):
which are those bad cholesterol levels that we want to
keep in check. And it also calms your arteries. And
second it is available for metabolic support. The fiber slows
how fast you absorb those carbohydrates, which can smooth out
those feed me now type of spikes and curb those cravings.
And third, it's good for your blood pressure. There's several

(16:55):
studies that report modest, meaningful drops in these small changes.
They they add up over time, and especially if you
pair it with a smart whole food type of diet.
And here's the best part, and you don't have to
overhaul your entire diet. It's just an easy sprinkle strategy.
It's simple, it's repeatable, and it's friendly to real life.

(17:17):
It's a habit that's so easy that you'll forget you're
actually doing something great for yourself. So this is how
flex works. The first mechanism is these fibers. They bind
to bile acids and your body then has to use
more cholesterol to make new bile and in turn it
helps to lower those LDL levels and they start to

(17:39):
trend downward. The second mechanism is the lignans. They add
these antioxid and anti inflammatory support for your vascular help.
And then the mechanism three is those plant based omega
threes and it supports it supports the inside area of
your arteries that into thelium and it plays well with

(18:02):
that Mediterranean type of diet. And this is what the
this is what the trials are saying. These studies are
showing that reports that meaningful reductions in LDL levels, they
can have modest blood pressure benefits and these are most
pronounced when you use these consistently. And it basically the
consistency is just about one to two tablespoons per day.

(18:22):
But here is the key nuance. It must be ground.
Whole flax seeds are great as far as fiber and
get things moving through your gut, but they a lot
of times the whole seeds move through undigested. So again
it's great for that compost bin, you know, the the
bulk of the stool, but it's not so so much

(18:43):
for your cholesterol. So you want that ground. So again
you want to aim for one to two tablespoons daily,
preferably ground. And if you're five sensitive, you want to
ramp up slowly, So start with just about one t
spoon for two to three days and then step it
up to one tablespoonful and end up to two tablespoons
as it's tolerated. And timing here is flexible. You can

(19:05):
do it in breakfast, lunchtime, or dinner, but keep it
about two hours away from medications or other supplements because
fiber can interfere with the absorption of those. As far
as storage go, all you have to do is just
put it in an airtight container and you can put
it in your fridge or even your freezer. And if
you're buying a hole, you want to try to grind.

(19:28):
Grind this with fresh in a fresh coffee grinder. It
gives you that peak potency. And as far as hydration goes,
you want to increase that. More fiber means that your
gut wants more water, So again, more fiber increase your
gut microbiome. It'll be happy if you increase your water.
As well as far as breakfast goes, just stir it

(19:50):
into your oatmeal or our greek yogurt bowl with berries
and cinnamon. It's nutty, it's silky, and then it's done smoothie.
You can use it as far as with spinach, frozen berries,
favorite protein, and add a tablespoon of that flax for
that thickness and that stained power. Lunch, just try whisking
it into olive oil, lemon or djon for a naturally

(20:12):
creamy heart smart dressing. And then dinner you can sprinkle
it over keino vegie bowl or fold it into turkey
or black bean burgers for moisture and subtle, just kind
of toasty. Note and you want to keep a measured
scoop close by and you don't have to overhaul your dinner.
All you got to do is upgrade it with these
two tablespoons. A question we often get is if it's

(20:35):
chia or flax. Both are excellent, but flax tends to
edged out. If we're talking about these lower in the
LDL levels of ground flax, you can use either or
both of them. And another question is golden or brown
flax nutrition is nearly identical here. Golden has a slightly
milder taste and it blends invisibly whindo yogurts and dressings.

(20:56):
As far as hormones go, flax lignans they're phyto estrogens,
but in typical food amounts they are generally considered safe
for most adults. So if you have a history of
hormone sensitivities, check with your clinician. And if you have
sensitive gut go slow and add water and let your
system accumulate those. And so here's your challenge to add

(21:19):
one tablespin a day this week. Jot down what you notice.
You have, smoother digestion, fewer cravings, maybe a steadier energy level.
You can grab a bag of this at your favorite grosser.
You can look in the baking aisle or in bulk bends.
And I also want to hear what your hacks are
on this. You can email or call us with your
favorite flax seed moves, is it smoothies, oatmeal or salad dressings.

(21:42):
The small habit that can cause a big ribbel in
your health. So again it's another case of your fork
being the ultimate artery power up. In this case, one
sprinkle all of time, ground flax seed your health alternative
of the week.

Speaker 6 (22:00):
Main mistakes, But everybody's got a choice to make. Everybody
needs to leave the faith. When are you taking you us.

Speaker 3 (22:11):
Money?

Speaker 7 (22:12):
You in fulks?

Speaker 3 (22:13):
Welcome back, Doctor Adam Brockman here as we return to
the Doctor Bob Martin Show, America's number one health talk
radio program. And before we jump back in a day's conversation,
I want to remind you that your wellness journey continues
even when we're off air. First, our physician team is

All available twenty four to seven at doctor Bob dot
com spelling out the word doctor Docto R Bob dot com.
All right, folks, I also want to talk about making

(22:55):
a smart choice for your oral health. That is the
Spread Dental Defense System. It's a product line that's as
effective as it is natural, and the starr ingredient is xylotol.
It's a plant based sweeener that doesn't just taste great.
It fights cavities, it reduces plaque, and it keeps your
breath fresh. Spries harness its power in every product, toothpaste, mouthwash,

(23:17):
gum and mince and flavors you love like spearmint, peppermint,
and cinnamon. It's a simple, sensible upgrade that supports a
cleaner mouth in a more confident smile day after day.
And here's the science. Xylotol helps prevent the formation of
plaque by inhibiting the growth of harmful bacteria. Because these

(23:37):
bacteria can't effectively use xylotol for fuel, their activity declines,
helping reduce attacks on tooth enamel and consistent use also
supports a more neutral oral pH in a healthy saliva flow,
which naturally helps clean the mouth and protect the teeth.
It's a straightforward it's a natural way to maintain oral

(24:00):
health without harsh chemicals or complicated routines. And my routine
it's very easy and repeatable. I brush with Spry toothpaste
for two minutes, I brush morning to night. I rinse
with their mouth wash for thirty seconds to reach where
brushing can't. And I choose Spry gum or enjoy a
mint after meals, snacks or coffee, even especially when you're

(24:25):
on the go. Those are small frequent touch points that
xylotol helps to reinforce a fresher, cleaner environment all day.
So choose the flavors you enjoy, keep gum or mints
in your bag or car, and make consistency your advantage.
And you'll find Spry at CBS, Target Rite aid sprouts
and natural grossers. And if you want to know more,

(24:47):
head over to clear dot com that's spelled x L
e a r dot com, which also makes nasal sprays,
which is belowed in your toolkit and your smile in
your overall health. Deserve that smart choice with Spry. So today,
stay consistent and take confidence in control of your oral
health with the Spray Dental Defense system. All right, here's

(25:11):
your outrage alert.

Speaker 8 (25:15):
She s make the.

Speaker 6 (25:16):
Don't believe it come on eats to have for the
health outrage because it's nothing.

Speaker 3 (25:23):
But it's a fit twenty one year old that's chasing
a personal best that he ends up in the hospital
with severe kidney damage. And it's not from drugs, and
it's not from alcohol, but it's from energy drinks. So
if this legal beverage can jackknife this healthy young adult's
kidneys in thirty days, what are we doing selling this

(25:47):
to teens at the checkout counter. So today's health outrage
of the week is a wake up call for parents, athletes,
and anyone who thinks a can with wings is just
a harmless buzz all right, So I want you to
make sure this this twenty one year old that's training
hard for a race. For one month, he downs nearly
two leaders of energy drinks daily, that's about eight cans.

(26:10):
He hits the er with relentless nausea and vomiting. In
the labs, they're alarming his creatiny levels, that's a key
kidney function marker. They're about five times the normal limit.
In his phosphor's level there's nearly triple. So his diagnosis
was stage three acute kidney injury, and that's that's nothing

(26:33):
that a healthy twenty one year old should ever get near.
So the good news is he stops the energy drinks
and over sixteen days these kidney numbers they start to normalize.
So the physicians they end up tracking him for the
next two years and his kidney function remains normal. So
he had this crisis averted. But let's be honest, that's

(26:54):
not a close call. That's a cliff age edge save here.
And if you think this is an outlier, I think again.
The ingredients and dosing patterns make this entirely predictable. So
let's do the math. Eight standard eight ounce cans equal
about six hundred and forty milligrams of caffeine, and that's

(27:16):
about fifty percent above the FDA's adult ceiling of four
hundred milligrams. And many of these tall cans of the
energy drinks, they are about two hundred to three hundred
milligrams in a single serving. So how many people sip
just one serving throughout the day exactly? Now, it's not

(27:36):
a synergy problem caffeine. It rarely travels alone. If you
start to add in tarine, garana and maybe these proprietary
blends and you've stacked the deck gana. It sneaks in
as extra caffeine, and it's a combo that can spike
your blood pressure, increase your heart rate, and push dehydration

(27:58):
to the limits stranger kidneys, especially during intense training or
even in the heat, and that's when these water and
electrolytes they start to lag and you need to increase
those levels and it's depleting them. And tarine itself is
not necessarily a villain. It's a high dose tag team
with the stimulants that it can magnify an upset stomach,

(28:22):
It can cause that dehydration even further, and it can
cause that blood pressure to increase. So if you toss
in the sugar in these certain artificial sweeteners, and you've
built this metabolic land mine. So these massive stimulants, they
increase in the dose is a dosage of those the
hidden totals in this heavy excretion when training, it can

(28:42):
converge into this acute kidney injury time bomb. So the
label may safer performance, but your neurons and your nephrons
and your kidneys may disagree. So it's about a simple choice.
If it's per serving and it looks until you realize
that the can is two servings in itself, so you've

(29:03):
already more than reached your daily caffeine limit. And then
the tiny disclosure on the label it promises focus or
energy or performance. Access to these energy drinks is just
too easy for our youth. We check IDs for nicotine,
but the three hundred milligrams of caffeine and these energy drinks,

(29:26):
there's no ID and no problem for them to buy
it at the checkout counter. The shelf placement and the
colorful labels are geared towards them, and so this outrage.
We need to come up with a plan for this.
So as far as capping your caffeine, if you're a
healthy adult, we need to work on keeping it at
or below that four hundred milligrams, and that's from all sources,

(29:48):
the coffee, tea's, SODA's, pre workouts, and of course the
energy drinks. And as far as an athlete goes need
to work on decreasing the amount of total total caffeine
because it's not for performance, and for miners, pregnant or
breastfeeding women, or anyone with heart, kidney or blood pressure issues,

(30:08):
that means zero energy drinks. Unless a clinician says that,
and I can't imagine that being the case. You never
want to pair energy drinks with heat or hard training,
and if you do insist on a caffeine pre workout,
I suggest that you hydrate first. So when it comes
to energy drinks, legal doesn't always mean safe for daily use.

(30:30):
So again I encourage you to choose nature's energy, that's sleep, sunlight,
hydration in real food over that label that reads more
like a chemistry quiz. All right, this has been your
health outrage of the week.

Speaker 8 (31:01):
If you're a big sports fan like me, sometimes the
best part about watching a football game are the pre
and post game shows. Well, it's the same for probiotics.
The most important part of probiotics are the prebiotics and
post biotics that come along. Not all probiotics have this
superior combination. That's why I only buy Doctor o'heres probiotics.
You see, prebiotics feed the probiotic colonies and your intestines,

(31:23):

away at eight hundred six zero six eight eight two
to two. That's eight hundred six zero six eight eight
two to two. Let's keep learning, growing and empowering each
other because your health deserves the spotlight. And talking about spotlights,

(35:14):
I'm gonna go ahead and get into this product recall
of the week. All right, we have a safety update
for patients taking presosin for blood pressure. Recently, the FDA
announced a nationwide recall on almost six hundred thousand bottles
of Prezosin hydrochloride capsules due to the elevated levels of

(35:35):
nitrosamine associated with long term cancer risk. And this is
a Class two recall that means that the risk of
serious harm is considered low and the potential effects are
typically temporary are medically reversible. So again, folks, do not
stop taking your medication abruptly. The correct response to this

(35:56):
is to verify your bottle in a range of safe replacement.
So here's here's the facts. The affected drug is Prezosain
hydrochloride in one milligram, two milligram, and five milligram strengths,
and it was distributed by Tiva Pharmaceuticals USA and Amerisource
Health Services. It spans multiple package sizes the twenty one hundred,

(36:17):
two hundred and fifty five hundred and one thousand counts
that were sold nationwide. The recall began on October seventh,
twenty twenty five, with classified Class two on October twenty fifth,
and publicly announced on October thirtieth. The issue is the
nitrosamine impurity that can form during manufacturing or storage, and

(36:39):
the concern is that cumulative exposure over time, so it's
not an acute poisoning event. So here's what to do today.
Step one, check your label, confirm prezosin hydrochloride in the
strength in the manufacture again that's TIVA or Amerisource, and
then if you do have one of those, the step
two would be to call your pharma, request a replacement

(37:02):
from an unaffected lot or an alternative manufacture, and if needed,
ask them to help coordinate with your prescriber for a
short term substitute. And step three, you need to continue
taking your medication. Do not skip these doses without medical guidance.
Uncontrolled blood pressure that's an immediate risk. So again here's

(37:22):
what not to do. Do not stop taking prezosin abruptly
without medical advice, and do not discard medication in a
household trash or to flush it. Follow your pharmacists return
and handling instructions, and folks, here's how to tell if
your bottle is affected. Have your drug name, the strength,
the manufacture, the NDC or lot number ready and your

(37:44):
pharmacist can check the full list quickly in guide replacement
and returns. If necessary. So, and here's when to seek
emergent care. Call emergency services for severe chest pain, shortness
of breath, sudden weakness or numbness on one side, or headache,
vision changes, confusion or feinting. These are blood pressure related emergencies,

(38:06):
not the impurity side effects of the recall. So is
the short term is this dangerous the current classification? In
case of there's low risk of serious harm, the concern
is the cumulative exposure. So if you should switch today, yes,
but verify and replace promptly and do not miss doses
while coordinating this. And yeah, the other question normally would

(38:29):
be it will insurance cover the replacement. Pharmacists typically manage
the recall replacements and coverage would do vary depending on
the plan or the pharmacy. And if all bottles are affected, no,
just look at these specific lots, all right. For more updates,
visit the FDA Recalls or call eight hundred FDA one

(38:50):
zero eight eight. All right, folks. So bottom line is,
do not play pharmacists at home, verify the bottle, secure
a safe replacement, and keep your blood pressure under control.
All right, this has been the product recall of the week.
All right, let's get to a collar question from Carolyn
in sho Loo, Arizona.

Speaker 7 (39:12):
Hi, this is Carolyn in Solo Arizona. I blame everything
on Candida, but the Candida test of the bloating is
unbelievable and it's affecting me with everything I eat, and
I have a lot of gas. So I'm trying enzigmes

but it's just getting worse with everything I eat. So

long journey for you. It's likely that your gut ecosystem
it needs to be have more tailored support. So let's

and replacing those with fiber rich vegetables, which can help

so again, you don't have to struggle this alone. If
you give this right approach, even those long standing digestive
issues can start to improve and you can reclaim that

(43:04):
Brockman here and you're tuned into the Doctor Bob Martin Show. Well, folks,
we've reached the final segment of our final hour, and
you know what that means. It's time for our health
mystery of the week. All right, folks, have you ever
been ghosted by your own bowel movement? You go, you
feel done, you wipe and there's nothing there. Well, today's

(43:28):
health mystery. We're talking about ghost poops. And are they
assign your gut is winning or is it just bathroom folklore?
And I know this is a little bit silly, but
let's define what it is. A ghost poop is a
well formed, easy to pass stool that leaves little to
know residue in the bowl or on the toilet paper.

(43:49):
And it typically sinks. The shape matters long, logike, smooth,
with a little bit of heft in. The color counts too,
typically brown. It should never be white, red or black.
That's a cause for concern. So this is what it
indicates a ghost poop on the Bristol stool scale, and

(44:11):
this often lands at a type four, which means it's
soft like putty. It's formed in its uniform. The translation
is your fiber to water, equation is balanced and digestion
is steady and you're not shedding excess oil or bile.
So it also hints that your pelvic floor in your
colon are working in coordination for complete evacuation with minimal cleanup.

(44:35):
So let's separate the myth from the fact here. A
myth is that ghost poops mean perfect health. The fact
is that they're a nice sign of stool quality, but
it's not a medical hall pass. Normal looking stools do
not rule out colon cancer or other conditions, so age
and risk based screenings remain non negotiable. But if you

(44:57):
want to increase your odds of a ghost poop, start
with fiber, slow and steady, aim for about twenty to
thirty five grams a day, and ramp that up over
one to two weeks to minimize the gas and bloating.
We're thinking about beans, lentils, chia, or flax, oats, berries, pears,

(45:19):
anything on that that has fiber. But you always want
to pair fiber with its best partner, which is water
or fluids. The baseline is roughly about eight cups of
water daily, and you want to increase that with heat, exercise,
or those high fiber days, so include with this the
healthy fats to help things glide, the avocado, extra virgin

(45:42):
olive oil, nut seeds, and wild fatty fish. So, folks,
the bottom line here is a ghost poop is typically
a well formed, easy, low residue type four on the
scale that sinks. It often reflects a good fiber to
water balance. It's a solid digestion, and it's a coordinated

(46:02):
pelvic floor function. So celebrate that clean exit, but don't
mistake it for a medical green light. Hydrate fiber up
and move daily and keep your screenings on schedule. So
if your bathroom visit leaves no trace, consider it a
polite bowl from your gut. Your microbiome is thanking you,

(46:25):
even if it's doing it silently. This has been your
health mystery of the week, and folks, we've reached the
end of this hour of the Doctor Bob Martin Show.
Thank you so much for joining us for Doctor Bob.
This is doctor Adam Brockman. Have a blessed and safe day.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant.
