Speaker 1 (00:15):
Hey, everybody, welcome to today's show. Welcome to Equality and
Rights for ROLL. I'm your host Anthony la Rica Duke.
We have a very interesting topic for today's show. But
before I get into that, I want to take this
time to congratulate all the Democratic voters that got out

(00:37):
on November fourth, and you guys really did a great
job getting out there and getting the votes out. And
I want to congratulate all the Democratic elected officials that
one there are elections on November fourth, and you know,

(00:58):
people were saying there's going to be a blue a
wave of blue wave. It was not a blue wave.
It was a blue tsunami. And so people really showed
up and stuff and that is so so important. So
congratulations to all the Democratic elected officials that won their

(01:25):
elections and reelections and so on and so forth. So
but now for today's topic, I want to discuss about
the reason why the Democrats did not agree to that
quote unquote big beautiful bill, which in turn put us

(01:49):
into this government shut down. So let's get right into this.
You know, there are a lot of good things in
that one big beautiful bill that Republicans put in. There's
a lot of good things in there. But here's the thing.

(02:12):
It's about what's not in that quote unquote one big
beautiful bill. What's not in there are the ACA subsidies.
And that is what the Democrats have been wanting for

(02:33):
so long, because come December thirty first, the current ACA
subsidies will be done with. So and that one big
beautiful bill, Republicans did not put in anything in regards

(02:54):
to those ACA subsidies. They put in other things, but
they did not put in what the Democrats wanted. And
that's why the Democrats did not agree to that quote
unquote one big beautiful bill. So in turn, because of that,

(03:16):
that's what led to the government shut down. Okay, all
that the Republicans had to do, and that one big
beautiful bill quote unquote was to put in the extension
for the ACA subsidies. But Speaker Johnson, the Republican House Speaker, said, oh,

(03:46):
people could just deal with People could just deal with it.
And he also said that oh we could we could
create that in another bill at another time. No, no,
it needs to be it needs to have been dealt with.
And now, as of November first, the ACA open enrollment

(04:15):
is already in effect and exc's and it's already in effect.
Hold on, sorry about that. Somebody was at my door.
I had to take care of that. But as I
was saying, you know, the Republicans just didn't want to do,

(04:41):
you know, take care of the ACA subsidies, and they
want to take away people's healthcare coverage. Really, it's going
to screw over a lot of people. And here's the
other thing. A lot of the Republicans say, weren't strongly believing, Oh,
the ACE it is just for Democrats and democratic cities

(05:03):
and states. Wrong. Wrong. There are so many people, so
many Republicans who also depend upon the ACA and the subsidies.
Tons of people in Florida, tons of people in Texas,

(05:26):
the two biggest Republican states, really, and in many other
Republican cities and states as well, they depend upon the ACA.
And while we're on this topic, the ACA is for

(05:48):
the American people, because Republicans gonna say, oh, it's for immigrants,
it's for immigrants, No, it's not. Because, uh, non citizens,
non US citizens cannot apply for the AACA. There's a
federal law that prohibits none United States citizens from being

(06:14):
able to apply for the ACA. Non US citizens cannot
get the ACA. It's a federal law. So the Republicans
want to spread all this bs around, these BS lies
and stuff like that. And you got this person, Speaker

(06:43):
Johnson in the House of Representatives, the United States House
of Representatives, spewing all these other license and everything, and
he's saying that, well, people could just deal with it,
and uh all it could be put into another bill.
But the higher levels of Republicans in both Najor chambers

(07:07):
are saying, no, no, no, we're not gonna we don't
want to do any of that. We're not going to
deal with the subsidies. We don't want to help the
hardworking people. And yet they don't realize how many of
their own Republican constituents and many of the h Republican

(07:30):
cities and states depend upon the ACA. So that's why
it's not about Democrat Republicans when you're dealing with people's health.
That's why the Democrats want to deal with the ACA subsidies.

(07:55):
They wanted to end that one bit beautiful built. But
because the Republicans kept saying, you know, that's why the
Democrats were against, that won't be a beautiful bill. And
the Republicans just wanted to sweep this topic under the
rug and stuff like that, and they don't want to
face it. But now all of a sudden, all of

(08:17):
a sudden, people in Republican states and Republican cities and stuff,
I say, oh, you're taking away my healthcare coverage. And
I'm talking about American Republicans in Republican cities and states.

(08:39):
These people are now realizing, oh, our dimwit representatives in
Congress are taking away our healthcare coverage. So hence that's
why this passed November fourth. It was not a blue wave,

(09:01):
it was a blue tsunami. And people are realizing, hey,
Republicans control Congress, or there's a Republican in the White House.
Republicans could have reopened up the government, and how could
and how could the Republicans have reopened up the government?

(09:23):
Very simple, get rid of the filibuster, get this thing through.
But Republicans that saying no, they don't want to get
rid of the philibuster. They don't want they don't want
to do that, and so on and so forth. And
Republicans are saying, well, well, the higher levels of Republicans

(09:45):
are not going to go for this uh ACA subsidies,
and they're not going to go for it. They don't
want it. They don't want it, they don't want it.
So they're trying to procrastinated in everything. And so that's
why Republicans have created this government shut down, and they're

(10:15):
trying to bully the Democrats and say, hey, either you
agree to us taken away healthcare coverage for people or
That's why Trump, who's a Republican and he's in you know,
this is the President of the White House. He's saying

(10:35):
that if the Democrats don't agree to our demands and
just for us to take away people's healthcare coverage, we're
going to take away snap benefits for everybody. So it's
Trump that took away everyone snap benefits. The Democrats did

(10:56):
not do that. Trump did that. Trump did that. Okay,
so would that being said, ladies and gentlemen, Here's another
thing I want to bring up since we're on this topic. Also,

(11:18):
by the end of this year, the big tax rates
for the filthy, disgusting rich were supposed to were scheduled
to expire. The Republicans in Congress got to get real fast,
not real fast, and said no, no, no, we got

(11:40):
on to give tax exemptions for the filthy disgusting rich people.
And the Republicans did that mighty fast, ladies and gentlemen,
they did that supersonic fast, and they got it passed.
But to take but the takeaway people's health can't coverage

(12:08):
and stuff by not dealing with the ACA subsidies. You know,
the Republicans could have said, hey, listen, our constituents, our
Republicans constituents, and many of the big Republican states and

(12:29):
cities and stuff, they depend upon that, and they these
people are Americans. Let's get together with the Democrats and
give them permanentent movement subsidies. They could say. The Republicans
could have said, hey, we did it for the filthy,
disgusting rich people. We gave them permanent tax braates. Let's

(12:52):
do something good and permanent for the hard working American people.
But the Republicans did not do that, Ladies and gentlemen.
The Republicans did not do that. They gave the permanent
tax exemptions to the filthy, disgusted and rich, but they

(13:13):
will not do the right thing for the American people
throughout the United States, throughout Democratic and Republicans cities and states.
By giving permanent A subsidies Republicans did not do that,

(13:40):
ladies and gentlemen, So yes, I will say this government
needs to reopen. Government needs to reopen and fast and fast.
So what does what does it mean? I mean, now
that we just had that blue set on November fourth,

(14:02):
both major parties need to just get together, put their
differences aside, act like professional mature adults, and get a
bill passed, a deal with the ACA subsidies. Seriously, honestly, Now,

(14:33):
if the Democrats still want to keep fighting amongst each
other in their own parties and stuff like that, what
could also happen is moderate Democrats, moderate Democrats meaning the
ones that are not so to the far left, could

(14:54):
just turn around and say, hey, we'll just agree to
the Republican bill and then come next year in the
midterm elections, we make a bigger tsunami, a bigger blue tsunami,
and let the Democrats take back control of both chambers,

(15:19):
the United States House of Representatives and the United States Senate.
Because if that happens, ladies and gentlemen come to be
impeached ACA subsidies. ACA subsidies will be created and permanently,

(15:46):
just like the Republicans gave permanent tax exemptions for the
filthy rich. Democrats can create permanent ACA subsidies that will
never expire as well. So let's get the government reopened.

(16:06):
Let's do let's do the right thing, open up the
government again, get everything back on track again, and stop
acting like a bunch of f and babs. Seriously. So
with that, I want to remind all my fans out
there by my website Advocate Information Highway a link to

(16:30):
their is ai h ny dot com. Again, that's ai
h ny dot com and you guys could check out
all the pages on there. And so with that, take

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
