Speaker 1 (00:01):
Hi friends, I'm Laura, and welcome to my podcast, Her
Journey Towards Change. This is a faith based life coaching
podcast for women who, like me, are on a journey
to live the best life possible. And then something happens,
something unforeseen, and everything changes. Life feels foreign and you
feel stuck and it's difficult to move forward and reaching
(00:25):
out can be hard. Right. Believe me, I know if
this is you, this podcast is for you. I don't
claim to have all the answers, but I know who does.
God wants more for us, for you and for me.
You are created to live your best life, So I
hope you will go on this journey with me to
(00:47):
a more positive perspective and take those hard steps together
through Her Journey Towards Change. Together, let's break through the
barriers which are holding us back from achieving what God
has called us to be. So let's go, and I
hope you will go on this journey with me. Well, hey, friends,
(01:21):
welcome back to Her Journey Towards Change. And I am
so glad you're here with me today, whether this is
your first time listening or you've been here for a
little while. I want to take a second to say
thank you, thank you for showing up, for making space
in your day to be a part of these conversations.
(01:41):
I know life can feel so full and heavy sometimes,
and the fact that you have taken time to be
here means you're choosing to pour into your growth and
your healing and your journey. And I want you to
know that matters. That matters a lot. This podcast isn't
about pretending to have it all together. It's not about
(02:04):
perfect answers or neat little solutions. It's about talking honestly
about the hard things and the quiet struggles and the
slow healing, and the moments when life doesn't make sense,
and those small but powerful shifts that remind us change
is possible. So today is episode number one oh seven
(02:29):
and it's called the Quiet Lies that Keep Us Stuck.
And we're diving into something a lot of us carry
but don't always recognize, the quiet lies that keep us stuck.
And let's be real just for a second. Most of
the stuff that holds us back, it doesn't walk into
the room and shout, does it. It doesn't announce itself.
(02:51):
It comes in quietly. It sounds logical, it sounds familiar,
and it even sounds safe, and because of the at
we believe it without ever questioning it. And I think
these quiet lies settle in and they convince us that
this is just how things are. They make us feel
(03:14):
like we're protecting ourselves, when really they're the very things
standing between us and the life that we're meant to live.
These are the lies we tell ourselves to keep the peace,
but they end up stealing it. It makes us shrink,
it makes us stay, it makes us settle, But deep
(03:37):
down something in us knows we know something has to change.
And I want to tell you right now, I have
believed every single one of these lies I'm about to
share with you, not just once, but over and over
in different seasons of my life. And maybe you've believed
(03:57):
them too. Today I want to talk through six of
these quiet lines, the ones that sound reasonable but hold
us back from from healing and from growing in and
from moving forward. So as you listen, I want you
to pay attention to your heart. Notice if one of
(04:19):
these makes you think, or if it makes you step
back or pause, if it stirs something in you. So
let's just get into it, okay, Lie Number one, I
need closure to move on. Oh boy, This one is
so real, isn't it. It sounds so reasonable. We tell
(04:41):
ourselves we need that final conversation, we need that apology,
that perfect ending, tied up with a bow, before we
can even move forward. But here's the truth. Closure doesn't come.
It doesn't come wrapped up in someone else's apology. It
(05:02):
comes when you finally decide to stop giving the past
the power to hold you. I had to learn that
hard way. There were seasons in my life where I
waited for someone else to give me permission to heal,
and it never came. Closure is something that comes from
(05:23):
the inside, and sometimes the only closure you're going to
get is choosing to close the door and just move on,
because that's the only way sometimes you're going to get peace.
Line number two. If it's meant to be, it'll happen.
(05:44):
And I can't tell you how many times I've said
this to make myself feel better after staying stuck for
a while. No, life doesn't just fall into place on
its own. Yes, sometimes things are meant for us us,
but they still require us to show up and to
choose and to take the steps we need to take.
(06:08):
If you sit back and wait for life to hand
you what you want, You're going to stay waiting. Sometimes
faith looks like stepping into the unknown. And even when
it's uncomfortable, and in those moments when it looks like
everything is moving the way that it should be, it's
(06:30):
not us, that's God. That's God working in our lives,
putting everything into place where it needs to be. So
we need to sit down and thank God often for that.
Number three. Lie number three, My past defines me. No,
(06:55):
your past shaped you, your past taught you, but it
does not get to dictate your future. I spent a
long time carrying my old struggles and my failures and
my pain and the things I thought disqualified me, and
I let them become my identity. But if you keep
(07:17):
repeating the same story over and over in your head,
it will become the only one you live in. You
can rewrite the narrative. And no, it doesn't happen overnight,
but every single day you get to choose a different ending.
You get to choose Lie number four. I can fix
(07:41):
what broke me. This one hits pretty deep because many
of us, I think, we want to fix it. We
want to redeem it, prove that it wasn't all for nothing.
But here's the truth. You can heal from what broke you,
(08:01):
but you can't rebuild something that was never healthy to
begin with. Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do
is walk away and stop trying to fix what was
meant to be left behind. And it's not giving up,
it's choosing peace. It's choosing yourself over the chaos. Line
(08:25):
number five, I'll change when I feel ready. Let me
be honest. If I've waited to feel ready, I'd still
be standing in the same spot I was years ago.
Because change doesn't wait for comfort. It happens in the messy.
It happens in the chaos, in the shaky middle of fear.
(08:49):
And the truth is, readiness isn't a feeling, it's a decision.
If you keep waiting to feel ready, you'll stay exactly
where you are. In line number six, I should be
further along by now. Doesn't matter what you're working on,
whatever goal you're working on, whatever is going on in
(09:12):
your life, if you're not seeing progress, sometimes we think
this lie, and this one can be brutal. It comes
in quietly, like some of the others, in the middle
of the night. Maybe when you start comparing your story
to someone else's. But listen, you're not behind. Stop measuring
(09:33):
your worth in your work by a clock that was
never yours to follow. I've had to remind myself of
that more times than I can count. Healing and growth
and change, they're not linear, they don't come with deadlines.
(09:53):
I hope one of these have hit somewhere to where
it's caused you to think and pause. And if one
of the did come close to your heart, I want
you to just sit back and think for a minute
about it. It's not a bad thing. It's just your
heart recognizing something real. And you don't need anyone's permission
(10:16):
to let a lie go. To let go of it.
You have the power to decide that on your own
right now, this moment, because this isn't about shame. It's
about awareness, becoming aware, and once you see the lie,
you can choose to rewrite it with the truth. So
here's the question for you. Which one of these lies
(10:40):
has been living rent free in your mind lately? Which
one has been keeping you small, convincing you to stay
where it's where it's safe, instead of stepping into what's next.
I'd love to hear from you. I want you to
share your thoughts over on Spotify. You can find me
over there by leaving a comment or you or come
(11:01):
back and look for me on Instagram at Laura Konrad
Life Coach. Tell me which lie spoke to you the
loudest today? And if this episode starts something in your heart,
I hope you'll keep following along because here on her
journey towards change, we're going to keep talking about the
(11:23):
real things like depression and healing and life transitions and
the quiet battles no one else sees. I want to
leave you with a verse that has carried me through
some of my hardest moments and some of my quietest battles.
It goes like this, The Lord will fight for you,
(11:43):
you need only to be still, And that's an Exodus
fourteen fourteen. And I love this verse because it's a
reminder that even when we can't see it, God is
moving behind the scenes. He's working in the places we
can't reach in and softening what feels hard, and making
a way where there doesn't seem to be one. We
(12:06):
may not always understand the timing, and we may not
feel strong enough to push forward, but the truth is
we were never meant to fight every battle alone. God
is already there in the waiting, in the pain, and
in those quiet moments when no one else sees. He's
fighting for you, even when you're tired of fighting for yourself.
(12:31):
And here's a quiet quote that I found thought provoking
and even so deeply true. Owning our story, in loving
ourselves through that process is the bravest thing that we'll
ever do. And that's from Brene Brown. This journey isn't
(12:54):
about perfection. It's about courage, the courage to face the lies,
to trust God's hand in the unseen, and to believe
that something beautiful is being built even when it doesn't
look like it yet. Remember, the loudest battles are often
fought in the silence, but you're not alone in it.
(13:16):
You're not alone. And until next time, take care of
your heart, be gentle with yourself, trust the one who's
fighting for you, because he is, and keep walking your
journey towards change. And until next time, love you, guys
(14:03):
