Speaker 1 (00:03):
Hi friends, I'm Laura, and welcome to my podcast, Her
Journey Towards Change. This is a faith based life coaching
podcast for women who, like me, are on a journey
to live the best life possible. And then something happens,
something unforeseen, and everything changes. Life feels foreign and you
feel stuck and it's difficult to move forward and reaching
(00:26):
out can be hard. Right. Believe me, I know if
this is you, this podcast is for you. I don't
claim to have all the answers, but I know who does.
God wants more for us, for you and for me.
You are created to live your best life. So I
hope you will go on this journey with me to
(00:48):
a more positive perspective and take those hard steps together
through Her Journey Towards Change. Together, let's break through the
barriers which are holding us back from achieving what God
has called us to be. So let's go, and I
hope you will go on this journey with me. Well, hey, friends,
(01:27):
welcome back to the podcast. I am so as I
always say, I'm so glad you're back today, it seems
like I could say something different, but for some reason,
that is the automatic thing that comes out of my
mouth I'll try to do better next week. Maybe I'll
work on that and see if I can start it
out differently. But I don't know if that just rolls
(01:49):
right off of my tongue every single time. But I
am happy that you're here, and you know what, it
is the last week of February. Already we're rolling into
the month of March, and I am really really happy
about that because I'm ready for spring to get here,
mainly because I'm ready to start seeing some green grass
(02:10):
again and feeling some sunshine on my face and being
able to get outside and stay outside for a little while.
So with that said, today we are on episode number
one hundred and three and I'm titling this You're closer
(02:30):
than you think, and I'm basing that title on I
know we've all done it. I know I have, and
I know other people have. Maybe not everybody, but I
have a feeling almost everybody has done this at one
time or another. You get in your car, you start
(02:54):
it up, you put your hands on ten and two,
and you start down the highway and you end up
at your destination and you don't even remember getting there.
You don't remember how you did it. That's because we're
not focusing. And there's other times where we just it
(03:19):
just seems like the road will never end. When we're
on that trip that we're taking and it seems like
we're never going to get there. You know, I remember,
are we there yet? Coming from the backseat of our vehicle.
Are we there yet? No, we're not there yet. Five
minutes later, are we there yet? So sometimes it's like that,
(03:42):
it just seems like the journey takes forever. But I
want you to know you're closer than you think. And
I want you to know that if you're driving down
that road and you feel lonely right now, one that
seems to just stretch on forever, keep your eyes on
the road, don't give up. And if you feel like
(04:07):
you have nothing left, like you're running on empty, because
sometimes we do. Not me, I always want way more
gas in there than what we need, even if we
stop more than once. I always like having at least
to half a tank of gas. But I will say
(04:29):
this about my husband. He will get as low as
he can go close to e before we start looking
for a gas station. And sometimes we are running on fumes.
But if you right now are running on empty, and
you just don't know how much longer you can keep going.
(04:52):
I want you to hold on the road ahead in
front of you leads to something more beautiful, and I
want you to remember this. God is not leading you
to a dead end. You're going to get there. You
might not know where you're headed, you may not see
(05:13):
that far ahead of you yet, you may not see
those mile markers, but you're not headed to a dead end.
I get it, really I do, because I've been there
and I know I'll go there again. There are many
seasons in life where we just feel like, no matter
how much effort we put into it, no matter how
(05:35):
many prayers we whisper, things just don't seem to be happening.
You're doing the work, you're showing up every day, you're
trying to push forward, but it just feels like you're alone,
like maybe the road isn't even leading anywhere at all.
(05:59):
But I can tell tell you this, You're not stuck.
You are still moving, even if it's at a slow
pace and slower than you would like. Even if it
feels like you're barely making progress, You are moving forward,
and God is walking and taking you along that road
(06:19):
with you. Even when you can't see him. And I
know that because I've been there. When I went through
that season of depression that I went through, I was
seeing a counselor for three solid years, three straight years,
every week, and I worked hard, and I said many
(06:41):
prayers and I cried a lot of tears, and a
lot of times during those three years, I did not
feel like God was with me. I knew he was.
I had faith. I've always had faith, but it didn't
always feel like it. So today I want to talk
(07:02):
to you about what to do when you feel like
giving up. How do you keep going when you're exhausted,
How do you keep going when you're feeling depressed? How
do you find hope when the road just seems endless?
So let's just get into it. Let's be real. Sometimes
(07:25):
we don't even realize we've started to just check out.
We're still doing things, but our heart isn't in it anymore,
is it? So I want you to think about this.
Do any of these sound familiar to you? You feel overwhelmed,
like really overwhelmed. Your mind is just racing, and your
(07:47):
to do list feels so impossible, and you can't seem
to focus on what that next, right move is right
in front of you, and it's like you're juggling a
hundred things at once and none of them are actually
getting done. Or you're stuck in the past or the future.
(08:10):
If you're constantly thinking about what went wrong or stressing
over what's next, you're missing the beauty of where you
are right now. And I get it. It's hard to
stay in the present moment when your mind is so
busy trying to fix everything. Or maybe you're moving on autopilot.
Yeah we've done that, been there. You're going through the
(08:33):
motions and doing all the things you're supposed to do,
but you don't feel connected to any of it. And
you wake up and you do what needs done, you
go to bed and it's on repeat, and honestly, that
is so exhausting. Or maybe you've lost your energy or
your joy. When you're disconnected from what you're doing. It
(08:56):
drains you. It literally you, and you don't feel excited,
and you don't feel inspired, and maybe deep down you're wondering,
what's the point. Does any of that hit home for you?
If it does, take a deep breath, just breathe in
(09:21):
and let it out. You're not alone in this you're
not in recognizing where you are. That's actually a really
good thing because once you see it, you can start
moving forward again. So what do you do when you
feel like giving up? So let's just talk about this
(09:43):
just bravely, because the truth is, you don't need to
have it all figured out. You don't need to see
the whole road ahead of you. You just need to
take the next step. You just need to keep going
that next mile. So number one, I want you to
(10:06):
do this, pause and breathe. I know everybody says that,
but it is so it just sounds so simple. But
trust me on this. Right now, take a deep breath
inhale an exhale. Your mind might be telling you that
(10:27):
you have to figure out everything right now, but you don't.
You just have to take the next step. And number two,
I want you to refocus your thoughts. The next time
you feel like quitting, try this. I want you to
pull out your phone, set a two minute timer and
(10:49):
think about one thing, just one thing that brings you hope.
Maybe it's the reason you started, whatever it is that
you are feeling stuck in. Maybe it's a person you love,
Maybe it's a promise from God. Let that be your anchor.
Number three, this is a given. I want you to pray,
(11:15):
even if it's messy. Messy prayers get answered. Doesn't have
to be long, doesn't have to be polished. Just talk
to God, tell him what's on your heart. If all
you can say is Lord, I need you, that's enough.
(11:37):
He hears you, he sees you. He's not gonna leave
you there. He's not gonna leave you there. And number four,
let go of the timeline. This one is so hard.
I know because sometimes the most frustrating part of the
journey and the trip isn't the actual jny itself, it's
(12:01):
the waiting. We want things to happen right now. But
just because you can't see progress doesn't mean that it's
not happening. God's timing. It's never late, even when it
feels slow. And last, but not least, Number five, take
(12:21):
one single step forward. And I actually literally did this,
physically did this when I was going through depression. I
walked it out and I when I was walking, I
looked down at my feet and I focused on my
feet moving forward. And it doesn't have to be big,
(12:42):
Just one step. Send the email out that you need
to do. Make the phone call that you need to make.
If you're writing, write that one sentence that you need
to tell yourself get out of bed, Get out of bed.
That is a I know it's huge. Depression can make
(13:05):
you just want to stay in there and leave your
head covered up and just wallow around in your own pity.
But get up and get out of bed. Whatever it is,
just take that next step, because each step, no matter
how small, it is still progress. It is progress. Please
(13:25):
know that you are not alone, and listen. I don't
know exactly where you are right now on this road.
Maybe you're tired, maybe you're questioning whether it's even worth
it anymore. Maybe you're just barely hanging on. Here's what
I want you to know. You are not alone. God
(13:47):
has not left you, and this road that you're on
it's leading you somewhere. You might not see it yet,
but trust me, you are closer than you think to
the woman who feels like giving up. Keep going, even
when it's hard, even when you feel unseen, even when
(14:11):
you don't know what's next, you are still moving, You
are still growing. In one day, one moment in that day,
you're going to look back and you're going to realize
it was all worth it. And I want to leave
this quote with you. I don't know who who said it.
(14:32):
I don't even know if anybody. It just was out
there and I found it. When you feel like giving up,
remember why you started. And more importantly, here's what God
says about your journey. It's found in Galatians six' nine
and it's THE niv. Version let us not grow weary
(14:57):
in doing, good for at the proper, time we will
reap a. Harvest if we do not give, up we
will receive that. Harvest just don't give, Up so hold
