Speaker 1 (00:16):
Hello, and welcome to Julie in conversation. So glad to
be with you here today September fifth, twenty twenty four, Thursday.
Whenever it is that you're tuning in, may you receive
what it is you need to receive and what it
is you didn't even know you needed. I think it'll

(00:37):
be one of those days for me. So glad to
be here today. It's been a while since I've recorded
a podcast, since I've sat down in front of my
mic and console to just be with you, with myself,
with what's rising. So, like I say always on this podcast,

(01:00):
it's always a perfect and right time. So when I've
heard is that you're here listening. Thank you for being
who you are, for doing what you do, and for
listening to yourself, to your body, to your inner wisdom,
recognizing where you stand, where you sit, where you breathe,
the land that you're on, the chair that you're on,

(01:21):
the body that you're in, the person that you are.
I am calling. I'm not calling, but I'm broadcasting today
from where I broadcast from, which is my home studio
in Montreal, located on un seated indigenous lands of the

(01:43):
territory of the Traditional territory of the Najogi Haga nation,
bringing honor, respect to those who have come before me,
those who are here with me on this earth, and
those who will come after me, and tuning into my
own ancestry. As I connect here with you today and

(02:05):
all that has enabled me to be here with you today,
I want to thank myself for allowing me to carve
out this time. It has not been an obvious one.
If you are a frequent listener of the podcast, you
know that I talk about this often, and that's because
continuing to flex this muscle of showing up for myself

(02:26):
and getting to be here with you means getting to
be here with me, for me, for you. So may
you use this time to be here with you as
I tune in to me and what I'm here to offer,
which is a space for you to return to yourself. Increasingly,
I'm aware that this podcast enables me, helps me, supports

(02:49):
me in returning back to myself. And if I'm here undisturbed,
not needing to attend to anyone else, whether it be
work or personal, I know that I'm in the right
pace place because it's what I need to be doing
to fill myself up to energize myself to refuel, to replenish,

(03:10):
to rejuvenate, to return to my needs, my feelings, the murmurings,
the longings, the full spectrum of emotions. And so what's
present for you today as you tune in here with me?
What are you noticing in you that's moving or that's

(03:34):
not moving. I've been noticing a lot of stagnant energy
in me, energy that wants to move, and then energy
that's bumping up against some more stuck energy and that
sometimes manifests different symptoms within me. And so just been
noticing that as summer has been coming closer to an

(03:54):
end and there's the start of the school year for
my kids who are thirteen and ten entering grade eight
and grade five. Two boys can't believe that there was
a time where I was doing this podcast when they
were even on this earth. Hell, holy goodness me. And
so just recognizing the time of transitions and what that

(04:17):
brings and being with all of that right now as
I'm here with you today, I want to before I
get into anything further, and just saying this will be
a shorter podcast today. I mean you'll be noticing that
when you tune into it and see the length. I'm
just fitting this in between clients, and I made a

(04:38):
firm decision and was also had a you know, internal
call to just show up today, no matter what happens
on the mic, but just to make it happen. And
so I have time for a twenty five minute podcast
if that, and I'm doing it with you here. Thank you,
so so glad to be here. And I wanted to

(05:00):
thank the patrons who have been a part of my
podcast support system, whether you've been a patron in the past,
you are currently a patron, or maybe will be one
in the future. Thank you. I can do better at
being at what at being grateful to my patrons. I

(05:20):
feel like there's always room for gratitude. But I am
so grateful for my patrons because I have not done
a podcast during the summer, and my patrons still stay
with me, and so thank you. And I'm here for
you and thank you for being here for me. And
I will continue on this podcast and continue to deliver

(05:41):
it may take different shapes and forms, meaning always through
the means of listening auditorially is that a word auditively,
I'm not sure. Through your ears. Sometimes I've been doing
the YouTube thing I have been being invited to let

(06:04):
go of having some guests in the coming months, just
for the deep need and requirement for me to just
be and have some time to myself. I do have
a couple of guests that have been lined up for
a couple of months, so I might be able to
feature them and have them in conversation, but typically I'm
going to show up here on my own to just

(06:28):
shoot the breeze and listen to some music, bringing some
nature into the podcast through nature sounds and also through
music and meditation and anything else that will come through
as reflection, as questions that I source from myself, from
my training as a coach, from just life in general,

(06:52):
living as a parent, as a woman, as a person,
wanting to contribute positively to oneself and to the people
that I live with, the people that I work with,
the community that I'm in, the nation that I'm in,
and the planet that I'm on. So thank you for

(07:14):
listening to you and what's coming forward, what you're wanting
space with, what you're wanting time for, what you're being
curious about. How can you be and stay curious longer?
Is a question that Michael Bungay Steiner asks in his
book The Advice Trap, it's a coaching book. How do

(07:34):
we stay curious longer? How can you be curious longer
and not jump to conclusion presumption, make an assessment or
an evaluation? How do you be curious about something or
someone or some circumstance that perhaps you're drawing a conclusion to,
or that you're wanting more information on, or that's not

(07:55):
feeling good or that's feeling stuck. How do you bring curiosity?
As I was preparing for this podcast, time was ticking.
I'm like the forty minute podcast was now going to
be brought down to a thirty minute, thirty minute to
twenty five because I was looking for music and sounds
so that they can accompany me on this podcast before

(08:17):
I'd have to move on to my next client. And
I came across this track of birds singing thank you blackbirds,
bird flock background chirping is what it's titled, And so
listening to birds? Do you listen to birds? Do hear
your birds around you? What happens when you hear the

(08:37):
tweeting of birds? The birds song? I know, well, scientifically
it's proven to increase well being, it can reduce anxiety
and help focus, and it does provide a whole beautiful
array of benefits. And so I just wanted to bring

(08:58):
the birds into this podcast and just allow you to
listen and take them in and maybe as you're walking
around wherever you live, bringing greater attention to the song
around you that's coming from our nature companions, friends, wise, ones,

(09:49):
How can you relax into this moment, invite yourself to
be here right now? What is it that you're needing
in the world of increasing distractions distractability. It is for
this reason that I made sure to show up today
here to put something out there, because I haven't put
it out there for a long time, titlingly it returning

(10:12):
to self, redundant or not. I can never be reminded
of this enough. I mean, this is what I do
in my working life, which is helping people return to
their own wisdom and so remembering how much wisdom there
is to be found when we can return to oneself,
and how we can replenish and fill up and resource

(10:35):
so that when we serve others, when we are with others,
we become this radiating force, this force, however bright or light,
that is positively impacting those around them, that is solid, grounded,
can weather the storms, can embrace an experience and welcome

(11:00):
different emotions, different people, different experiences, welcome them in hold
them all without reactivity or noticing the reactivity. So how

(11:25):
can we be here right now? How do you notice
your breath? Noticing where there may be areas of congestion
or tension in your body as you bring your breath
in and you notice where it goes, where it stops,

(11:48):
where it's redirected. What do you notice as you bring
attention to your breath? Are you being transported? As you
listen to the birds somewhere lush, some were open, expansive, welcoming,
grounded with nature. Are you getting your vitamin N? I

(12:15):
love that vitamin N N for nature? Richard Louve, the
author of Vitamin N. I have not read the book yet,
but in taking a course on nature based coaching, I
was gladly introduced to his work and the term vitamin N.
It's my new go to right now, making sure. I

(12:35):
mean that's always getting sure, making sure I'm getting vitamin N.
But that consciousness around it being a vitamin feels satisfying.
Are you getting your vitamin N? Are you feeling grounded
and connected to your body. Nature has a beautiful way

(12:57):
of helping us do that. How are you letting go
of the distractions or the feeling of distractability? Are you
able to? At this point? I can't afford not to

(13:18):
for my own well being and mental and physical and
emotional health. Over the summer, I took a month off,
which was a beautiful experience to be with my family,
to be away from work, away from my desk, away
from the screen, traveling in nature. I wasn't traveling for

(13:42):
the full month, but enough to feel like I got
filled up and reconnected to important parts of myself and
my preferences and values. We stayed in Canada. I went
to parts of Quebec and then also West Coast Columbia.

(14:03):
Truly a gift and beautiful experience. Coming back was hard.
I was expand in an expanded state, and then I contracted.
I knew, you know, with every expansion comes contraction, and
so I've been in that space of transitioning back to
routine and what it means to be a responsible adult

(14:26):
raising children, working an urban life, and asking what do
I need? What do you need? What do you need
right now? What need is surfacing for you. I need

(15:12):
to connect, I need to ground. I need to be
with your own thoughts, your own feelings. I need for
quiet with my kids home for the summer and juggling

(15:39):
work and schedules, and aside from being off for a month,
being attentive to many needs as usual. I didn't listen
to any podcasts, I barely listened to any music. I

(16:00):
just needed to clear out space and create space. And
I just whatever kept coming to me was, I'm just
listening to quiet, listening to quiet, And so I'm in
that space of listening to quiet when I have it,

(16:21):
when it's around me. There's so much coming in and
coming out at us, coming at us at all times,
from my experience at the tip of our fingers on

(16:44):
our devices. The beauty of it, of course having that
availability for us, but also how do we quiet it
down while still feeling like a responsible citizen in this world?
Can we do both? My advocacy right now is for

(17:12):
listening to the quiet so I can be present, feel well,
be well, and heeding the call when the time suggests

(17:35):
invites me to do what's next, And for right now,
it's to listen to the quiet. What is it that's
being called to you. I know, even as I was

(18:06):
preparing to record this podcast, I already started to feel
more energy in my system. And that's something that I've
been thinking about consciously, is you know, what do I
need to bring more energy in and to respond to
perhaps feelings of depletion or fatigue. And so this is
what happens when we can show up for ourselves and
give us what we need. And so I'm already feeling

(18:27):
the benefits, and so just thought i'd share that with
you and thank you for being here and listening and
let me know what you're gaining and hearing for yourself
in this podcast. I do have to close it out
because I've got an appointment a client waiting for me.
Thankfully grateful for my clients and the people that I
get to meet all over the world, and also being

(18:49):
able to connect with you today. So I will be back.
Let me know what you're enjoying, what you want to
hear more of. Thank you for trusting yourself and your intuition,
taking this time to return to yourself, to your wisdom.
I'm here to support you with that. If you ever
need to remember, just pop my podcast back in I'll

(19:10):
let you know that you're doing it right for you,
right now, in this moment. Filling up the guy's tang
or plenishing the well, feeding yourself good nutrients, nourishing, hydrating, watering,

(19:31):
whatever feels right to you. How do you explain it?
Putting on that oxygen mask. I see you, Thank you
for being you. May you trust your intuition. May you
let it lead and cheers. Sh sh sh sh
