Island Summer Wall. It went over the top. It was
on d r D, the digital radio tracking. It was

it was an accident. I'm not even supposed to sing
that song. Really, Michael was supposed to get me as

(05:36):
a background vocals and he said, no, I'm not doing
your background vocus Michael.

Speaker 6 (05:43):
Oh wow, But it turned out it turned out the best.

want to introduce you by saying saying the introduction about
Heidi Tan Now, how do you?

Speaker 11 (06:00):
A woman of soul?

Speaker 6 (06:02):
And she's got a lot of strength in her and
a lot of soul and she developed her voice and
craft over the years. Of course, she has sent her
sights on releasing an album that reflects her musical style,
so smooth and pop pop jazz with a mix of

(06:24):
Bossa Nova and Latin jazz plus R and B. Now,
Haidia is no stranger to performing in international venues, but
since at the age of twenty two she chased her dream.
Now she has developed her voice and craft. Now she
sets her sights on releasing an album hopefully coming up soon.

(07:59):

more in music and maybe do something with.

It's been happening now and it's just me my spirit.
I love to collaborate, connect with artists, and you know,
we help each other, we grow us.

Speaker 8 (08:22):
As a team.

Speaker 10 (08:23):

Speaker 4 (08:32):

Let's get it popping.

Speaker 11 (09:36):
Huh.

Speaker 6 (09:37):
So what I'm gonna do is go ahead and play
this song and give everybody to catch their breath. Is
there anything you want to say about the song? Is
there a story behind it?

Speaker 10 (09:47):
Heidi, There is a story behind it. Lavelle is actually
online right now. He hasn't talked, but he's my producer.
We were kind of we kind of, uh, we've been
talking since last year. He went to my show up
at the View Music By last year and after that.
We kind of want you when we want to work
you know, and then he said, well, something happened, I

(10:09):
mean family problems or situation, so we can keep on yep,
kind of making it like maybe next month maybe, And
just he came out sometime April with the track and
then I have lyrics. I sent the lyrics and we
kind of put them all together. And when he sent
me a music, I mean, Lavelle was like, I was excited. Oh,
this is a lovely uh lovely music. I mean, I

(10:33):
think they would this would fit with the lyrics. So
he kind of put everything together. And I always had
Lynn Browntree on my mind even before. I mean, I
wanted to really work with Linn, but I was just
waiting for the perfect song to to to feature him
as a trumpet player. I've been a fan of Linn

(10:53):
for but like maybe three years now.

Speaker 11 (10:55):
Okay, ok, get damn, get down.

Speaker 4 (10:59):
And so.

Speaker 6 (11:01):
Is anyone else that want to say something about this
song before I played, or you want to wait till after.

Speaker 13 (11:10):
Anyone, I'll wait till after all.

Speaker 6 (11:13):
Right, you have a call now, all right there, and
I'll be We'll be right back, y'all.

Speaker 8 (11:22):
We'll be right back.

Speaker 9 (11:24):

You want the dream might get to key. I'm so
sincere ran so deep.

And hand our hearts take quite whispers in they go see.

Speaker 14 (12:16):
You're my answer, You're my prayer.

there's no such thing as bain.

Speaker 4 (13:14):
We make each other whole.

Speaker 2 (13:18):

and divine in your heart a line.

Speaker 6 (16:14):
Well, all right everyone, that is the best thing. I
hope everyone loved that. I really love that trumpet and
your voice hiding whoa.

Speaker 9 (16:27):
Yeah, girl, you gotta going on.

Speaker 10 (16:30):
I have to do three takes on that one because first, yeah,
because I'm perfection. It's like, yeah, I'm gonna go to
the studio now like it's good.

Speaker 8 (16:40):
Yeah, No, I'm not good. I have to go back. So,
I mean I had confection until now.

Speaker 10 (16:46):
I feel like I should have done this, I should
have done this right.

Speaker 6 (16:50):
It's always that's you. That's you, and nobody can't be
like you. But the results and all the effort shows.

Speaker 9 (16:59):
Now.

Speaker 6 (16:59):
I have a friend of mine is Bobby Bond. He
wants to ask you what inspired you to create and
perform your music and how you how did you infuse
your personal experiences and emotions into your songs.

Speaker 10 (17:15):
It's you know, writing a song, it's uh, it's all
kinds of things. It's like what you think, what you feel,
what you see, what's going on and in the time
you know the timeline of your life, like you have
to be more thankful of all the people who's always
been there to support you and That's how I came
out with You're the best thing because it's it's thanks
It's like Thanksgiving day var Heidi, right, Yeah, give back

(17:41):
right to be grateful and just be appreciative sometimes, you know,
sometimes we kind of take that for granted. Some people's
always been there for you, you kind of don't don't show it.
But through this song, it's kind of like my message
to the listeners, to the people, to my family, to
my friends. And that's all Uh, that's what it's all about.

(18:03):
That's what's the song is all about. It's about your
appreciation and gratitude for the people for being there for
you through the heights and through the lowest right of course,
looks there, right, So that's how it is.

Speaker 11 (18:15):
So yeah, you have a big hard hiding.

Speaker 9 (18:18):
That's why I love you so much.

Speaker 11 (18:20):
And I read the magazine issue pump It Up.

Speaker 6 (18:24):
You on the cover of the magazine, yes, and what
it says that you are a woman with soul, strength
and sound, And uh, I read the whole article and
it talks a lot about you and who you are.
There was some things I didn't know, you know, how

(18:46):
how deeply you felt. And I can understand you chasing
your dream and continue with your dream. And you have
a daughter and she's helping you with your dream. That's
that's awesome. I see that is awesome. So I would
like to ask Laveil.

Speaker 11 (19:07):
You have anything to say right now, come.

Speaker 8 (19:10):
On speak up.

Speaker 16 (19:17):
Well, I'm very honest to uh be able to work
with Heidi on this song. I think that it was
important to capture the essence of the message she was
trying to send out, and I just wanted to put
some some kind of music musical support behind it to
kind of help amplify her message. So I'm very happy

(19:38):
that she was happy, and I'm happy with the outcome,
and uh just looking forward to with the future holds
at this point.

Speaker 9 (19:47):
Wow, that's that's nice. It's amazing.

Speaker 6 (19:50):
How y'all, how y'all come together, you know, and put
put a baby together like that? And uh, I believe
this is a hot song and it will hit the charts.
And I know Heidi, she will beat it up and
make it and make it get up there. And so
I loved the song. The trumpet in there, how you

(20:11):
picked Lynn roundtree in there is just so perfect though,
like that and your voice and him and that, Oh,
I just love the.

Speaker 9 (20:19):
Sound of a trumpet. That's just me. And it's so smooth.
It is so smooth. I can see.

Speaker 6 (20:25):
Myself driving and just driving down the road listening to
that straight and it's just so smooth.

Speaker 11 (20:33):
Y'all, y'all did a real good job on on that song.

Speaker 6 (20:37):
And uh, congratulations on y'all baby so uh it's a
hot song. You're the best thing, man, y'all. That could
be put in a commercial, that song.

Speaker 9 (20:50):
It could be Yeah, yeah, you're the best thing.

Speaker 11 (20:53):
Oh my gosh, any advertisement.

Speaker 10 (20:57):

Speaker 11 (21:02):

the show.

Speaker 11 (21:06):

Speaker 5 (21:08):

Speaker 9 (21:08):

Speaker 10 (21:09):

Speaker 9 (21:09):
Sure did.

Speaker 6 (21:10):
Y'all put together a real great song that will hit
the charts.

Speaker 11 (21:15):
I believe in my heart that song will hit the charts.

Speaker 6 (21:18):
And so anyway, let's talk about your events. I'm quite
sure if anybody want to read her up on the magazine.
The magazine is called Pump It Up and she's on
the cover, if y'all want to catch the article on
her on that magazine. Also, she has an event coming up,

(21:44):

twenty first through the twenty fifth. Yes, later this month,
and you're gonna have to mention ticket information.

Speaker 8 (21:58):
Yeah, did you get this? Just on Aloha Jazz Festival.

not sure if it's sold out, but I think it

But uh, I don't see much of jazz.

Speaker 11 (25:31):

Speaker 6 (25:33):
Mainly R and B, which is good. You know, R

Soul.

go back to the basic.

Right.

Hi, any words of encouragement you would like to give
to those out there just trying to pursue their dreams.

Speaker 10 (36:28):
All the artists, I think, just believing in yourself, because
it has to start with you. If you don't believe
in yourself, nobody else will. You got you gotta put
that you know that that mantra in yourself, like I
believe in myself, So you have to believe in me
because I do. So it's not it's not an arrogant

(36:50):
but it's a confidence. You have to build that confidence
within you and the people gravitate towards you if you
have that humility but confidence at the same time.

Speaker 9 (37:01):
Yes, yes, good advice, very humbly.

Speaker 17 (37:05):
Yes.

Speaker 6 (37:07):
People don't know the difference between being selfish or have
an ego or you know, and they have to have
that confidence within themselves with yes, within themselves and believe
in themselves. Thank you so much, Heidi.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
