speaker and intuitive, Les Price.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
Well, hey everyone,
and welcome back to another
episode of the Leading in theLight podcast.
And if you're someone who'sactually a visionary creator, if
you're wanting to manifest andexpand your potential, then
there's a good chance that alongyour journey, somewhere along,
you're going to experience someform of resistance or
self-sabotage.
(00:41):
Resistance and self-sabotageare key elements on the creative
journey and, as heart-centeredleaders and individuals, we're
all being called to find ourinner strength.
And so, in this episode of thepodcast, I'll be sharing with
you the five key inner voicesthat we need to reframe, that we
need to change in order to tapinto our highest potential, in
(01:05):
order to move beyond fear, procrastination and doubt and to
really manifest what we'rewanting to create in this
lifetime.
So take a moment now, get readyfor the podcast, and I'm going
to look forward to sharing withyou these five key voices and
how we can begin to walk our ownpath of authentic truth.
You know, as visionary creators, we're always pushing the
(01:38):
boundaries, and if you'resomebody that loves to manifest,
to create more of your ownself-expression in the world,
whether that's through abusiness, whether it's through a
creative hobby, you might be anartist, a musician, a guitarist
or maybe somebody that iswanting to write a book that is
your life story.
Whatever path we're on, as soonas we start to create, as soon
(02:01):
as we start to expand beyond theboundaries of our own soul and
spirit, we can almost beguaranteed that we're going to
experience some form ofresistance and maybe even inner
forms of self-sabotage.
So how do we move beyond thisand how do we actually access a
zone of inner genius?
Well, you know, to be a geniusis not always easy.
(02:23):
If we look at some of thegreatest inventors and people in
the past that actually pushedthe boundaries like marconi when
he was developing the radio ormaybe it was the wright brothers
and their ambition to makesomething that they had built
fly through the air we canalmost guarantee that at that
time, where this energy hadnever been created, never been
(02:46):
manifested in the world, thatthere would have been resistance
and negativity from peoplearound them.
In fact, some of the greatestgeniuses on our earth have
pushed the boundaries.
They've decided to follow thepath of their own soul and
spirit, to really believe in theinner visions that were
downloaded and given to them.
So if you're at a point whereyou're simply experiencing some
(03:10):
form of procrastination, doubt, maybe resistance in creating
what you want in your life, thenthere's a good chance that
there's a growing gap betweenwhere you are and where you
really want to be as humanbeings.
The moment we set intentionthat is beyond the limits of our
own scope, then you canguarantee there is going to be
(03:30):
some form of fear, because as wegrow and expand, we begin to
step out of our comfort zone, and this is where we might begin
to experience those patterns ofresistance, discomfort,
self-sabotage or belief thatwhat we're doing may not be
functional.
You know, over the last fewweeks, as I've been coaching
many clients, I've been findingmany of my clients experiencing
(03:53):
the same form of resistance.
Most of them have realopportunity through their
ability to be amazingpractitioners.
They have a depth of wisdom, years of experience, and yet, as
they're here to express theirtrue gifts in the world, as
they're here to really bringforth their genius and wisdom
(04:14):
and package it in a way they canimpact others, they're being
met by these boundaries and so,as human beings, we need to know
that as long as we're growing,we're always going to experience
some form of fear, as SusanJeffers said in her great book.
You know, we need to be able tofeel the fear and do it anyway,
to know that fear is just anaspect, that is letting us know
(04:37):
that we're moving and growinginto the new.
But as human beings we're hereto set intentions and really,
the moment we set an intention,we're creating direction and a
way forward for our lives.
But it's often here, at theboundary of what we know and the
unknown, that this resistanceand self-sabotage can appear.
(04:57):
It's often said maximumconscious evolution takes place
between the border of chaos andorder.
It's on the edge of moving intoa new way of being that we will
often be stretched to becomemore, to really tap into what
the Greeks call that eudaimonia, that inner essence of our soul
(05:17):
and spirit.
Sometimes self sabotage isnecessary because it helps us to
grow and become stronger, butoften, more than not, it's
coming from that reptilian brainthat is trying to resist
movement, that is connected tothe ego, that wants safety and
security for us and sometimeshelps us to believe that what we
(05:39):
really want is either too hardor too far advanced for us.
So how do we learn to movebeyond these patterns?
How do we learn to harness thatinner child and the essence of
courage to not only face ourfears, but to move beyond any
forms of self-sabotage.
(05:59):
So, according to medicalintuitive Carolyn Mace, in her
book Archetypes, she describedthat all of us have four main
archetypes within us that arealways operating that of the
child, the victim, theprostitute and the saboteur.
And while the child may feelhelpless or feel like it doesn't
(06:20):
know enough or it's not strongenough, and the victim might
blame others for the positionit's in, and the prostitute may
not value itself and may notcharge what it's worth or may
have little self-respect for itsbeing, the role of the saboteur
is to actually keep us safe.
It's to keep the ego in thesame place, and it often
(06:41):
manifests through us either notbelieving or holding back from
taking the steps that we know weshould take to accomplish our
goals.
The role and the voice of thesaboteur can be subtle, but if
we're going to learn to moveforward, we need to be willing
to distinguish this voice fromthe true voice of our soul, our
(07:02):
spirit and higher self that isalways wanting us to unfold and
become more.
You know, while the ego oftendoes not want us to grow, the
soul and spirit knows we're hereto grow and expand.
The ego fears losing itself.
It fears that it won't beneeded anymore.
But our encouragement is tocreate and develop the inner
(07:24):
voices of our spirit and soulthat really give us the courage,
the strength, the belief, thefaith to move forward.
So what are some of thesesymptoms, if we're dealing with
this essence of the ego in themind?
Well, often it may manifest ascontrol, trying to control a
particular outcome, or feelingvery invested in the outcome,
(07:45):
not wanting to move or changeour approach.
It might manifest as fear, where we hold back from taking
any step, or where our body andautonomic nervous system goes
into this flight or fightresponse.
It may be that we just doubtourselves and don't believe, or
we belittle and shrink our ownenergy to stay safe.
(08:06):
So if you've ever experiencedany of those, in a moment I'm
going to talk about resistanceand share with you how we can
begin to create the path forward, how we can rise beyond
self-sabotage and reallydiscover the way to reframe the
voices of our true spirit.
So, as I've said, you knowwe're always going to experience
(08:35):
some form of resistance, especially when we are growing.
Most people in life understandthat the fear will never go away
, that as long as we're growingand trying new things, there's
always going to be some form offear.
Our role is to become conscious, to become aware, to understand
that it's often on that borderof chaos and order, between the
(08:58):
known and the unknown, thatwe're building the bridge to
something greater.
The author of the Energy ofMoney, maria Nemeth.
She often calls this place atthe border.
She calls it trouble at theborder because it's here that it
pushes our boundaries, ourbelief systems.
It forces us to rise above theconditioning of our past and to
(09:18):
create something new.
The great author, napoleon Hill, the author of Think and Grow
Rich, was also renowned forwriting another great book,
which I've been reading recentlyagain, which was called
Outwitting the Devil.
And in this great book it'slike Napoleon is having a
conversation with what hebelieves is the devil.
And the devil is not somesatanic, demon type essence, but
(09:43):
more so for more human beings,it's a critical mind.
It's the mind within us thatcreates doubt and fear and
uncertainty.
And in the book, napoleon Hilldescribes how really the whole
true essence of this part of usis often to just get us to do
one thing and that is to drift, and by drift it means is to take
(10:05):
us away from our true power, tohave us divert our awareness
and retreat back instead of stepforward, to really believe we
may not be worthy enough when, all along, we are more than
enough.
Author Brianna West, whoactually wrote the book the
Mountain Is you, says you knowthe mountain that we're climbing
(10:25):
.
This mountain of opportunity isoften less of a challenge in
front of us than it is a problemwithin us, problem within us.
So sometimes the resistancewithin us has been brought up to
challenge us, to help us becomemore, to help us overcome and
actually learn and grow, andother times it can just often be
(10:46):
a block that hits you in theface and you need to deal with
it and move beyond it.
Facing the fear or the block isoften the path to freedom.
Often what triggers us shows upin our wounds, in our own
essences of the past and thewound.
In understanding it, once webring it to awareness, once we
heal the emotion, that's when webegin to find our path to
(11:08):
freedom.
But it means listening to thetrue inner voices of your spirit
.
Our key really is to understandthat resistance is here to help
us to grow and by movingthrough it, by reframing it, by
finding the truth of our spirit,we find our path of knowing.
And here's the rub the more webegin to act with faith towards
(11:32):
what we want to create whetherthat's small steps of reaching
out to a business partner orwe're putting on an event,
reaching out to sponsors thatcould help us, or if we're stuck
in our own world of ourbusiness or our creativity to
actually ask for help from atherapist or a support worker
the more we begin to do that, webegin to create new neural
(11:55):
pathways.
Those old pathways ofresistance begin to lose their
essence.
Those new neural pathwaysliterally rewire the brain,
creating and affirming newpathways that develop greater
trust, faith and freedom.
And so it is then that therivers of fear and doubt begin
to dry up and instead the riversof opportunity begin to appear.
(12:19):
I like this old proverb thatoften says this as well a smooth
sea never made a skilled sailor.
How true is that?
Is that often in our lives weneed to navigate, sometimes the
roughness and the choppiness ofthe sea, because in doing so we
develop the gifts and the skillsto actually handle those times
(12:42):
when the sea may rise up.
But if we're continuously caughtin patterns of struggle, of
fear, of self-sabotage, then weneed to know something else is
calling us, that that is not ourtruth, that struggle often is a
choice.
We may need to look inside tosee what are the choices I'm
making now and how is it leadingme to manifest this struggle.
(13:04):
So, if you've been trying tomanifest a different life,
you've been wanting to manifestmore abundance, freedom and
fulfillment, but still findresistance coming up.
In a moment I'm going to sharewith you a way to reframe and
change the five core innervoices that often hold us back
from our greatness.
And the moment you do, you openthe door to the new
(13:28):
opportunities of your soul.
So look, along our life path.
We'll all come across thesevarious voices that often may
have the ability to hold us back, that often might create
patterns of resistance orself-sabotage, but as human
(13:50):
beings we have the gift ofchoice to be able to reframe, to
find our power and to find ourstrength.
And so what are the five voices?
Well, the first voice is thevoice of the critic, and
ultimately, the critic in itsmost high level, fully
actualized state is the champion.
The next voice is the voice ofdoubt, and when we take doubt
(14:10):
and we actually transform itagain into its highest state of
empowerment, it becomes courage.
Into its highest state ofempowerment, it becomes courage.
Fear becomes faith.
Playing small becomes feelingempowered and being the victims
in our lives, we actually startto actualize the essence of the
Creator.
So all along our life pathwe'll come across these voices,
(14:35):
and the moment we notice them,we need to start to build up the
deeper essence of our soul andspirit that is anchored in the
champion, in faith, in feelingempowered, feeling courage and
being the creator of our journey.
So each voice critic well, thecritic is that voice within us
all that loves to put us down, that loves, maybe, to call us
less than we really are.
(14:55):
You know, for many years as achild, I used to go through a
process where I just hatedsandwiches that my mum and dad
would make for me.
Often they'd give me thesecheese sandwiches and I'd take
them to school and I couldn'teat them because every day I got
the same thing.
And so one day that little Les,in his own creativity, decided,
instead of eating them, hewould just bring them home and
(15:16):
hide them around the house.
Now, as a child, that mighthave been a nice creative
strategy, but as an adult you'dprobably realize that after a
few weeks, cheese sandwichesoften go moldy, old and start to
smell.
So you can understand how myparents felt when they found
these sandwiches hidden aroundthe house.
Now why I never took them andput them in a rubbish bin, I
(15:40):
don't know.
But if I was going back to thatyounger Les, I would actually
be encouraging him to do thatinstead, or even ask for
different sandwiches.
But the reality is, in thatmoment, all I heard when my
parents were telling me offabout that situation was the
word you fool, and this word satdeep within my consciousness
(16:00):
and became part of the innercritic for most of my life,
until I started to learn how tolove that part of myself, how to
learn to love the fool and knowthat the fool was actually my
gift.
It was a way of making fun andhumor and being creative in my
life.
So where is it that you mayhave had this voice of the
critic that sometimes wants youto contract, to shut down
(16:22):
instead of expanding, instead offinding your power?
The next voice we often hear isthe voice of fear, and we all
have fear and, like I said, aslong as we're growing, there
will always be fear.
So, yes, we can feel the fearand do it anyway.
We might hold on to a newbelief that says no matter what
happens in my life, I willhandle it.
It's amazing what that does, just giving yourself
(16:43):
encouragement that you have theresources and ability to handle
anything and that you have doneso all your life.
But one wise words that I onceheard was that fear knocked at
the door, faith answered and noone was there.
How many times have you had afear of something, only to
realize it never eventuated, that it was all made up in the
mind.
(17:04):
So our key is to step intogreater levels of faith, to
ignite the spirit of faith thatknows, whatever happens, we can
handle it.
The third voice is the voice ofthe victim, and this is the
voice that comes from, maybethings having happened to us in
the past or where we have chosento blame others for our
situation whether that be thegovernment for the recession, or
(17:27):
our parents for not bringing usup in the right way, or for our
partner in our life for nottreating us the way we want to
be treated Yet all self-growthand development comes from the
place of first understanding orfor our partner in our life for
not treating us the way we wantto be treated.
Yet all self-growth anddevelopment comes from the place
of first understandingself-responsibility in our life.
The moment we haveself-responsibility, we start to
step into our own energy andpower.
(17:47):
Ultimately, we're all beingcalled to understand.
We have a deep creative powerwithin us, the power to actually
choose, to create what wereally want.
So what is it you want tocreate?
What is it you've had enough ofand what do you want instead?
The more we focus on themanifestation of what we desire,
the more that comes into being.
(18:09):
The fourth element in voice thatI often hear clients and I
often see them stepping into isthis essence of playing small.
For some reason, we believethat it's far better to hide our
light, to shrink down and tolimit our potential than it is
to put it out in the world andbe true to our own soul and
spirit.
Yet all of us are coming backto this place of self-love, this
(18:31):
place of self-worth, this placeof self-respect, and the more
we do that, we need to honor andrespect our true essence and
genius.
You know, the sunflower in thefield doesn't look around at all
the other sunflowers andcompare itself.
It doesn't compare its heightor whether it's good enough or
whether it looks okay.
(18:52):
All it simply does is fulfillthe divine plan within its being
.
And if it does that, it hasdone all it has needed to do.
So time to stop playing smalland to find that inner place of
strength, that inner place ofself-worth that acknowledges
your truth and says it's okayfor me to live my full potential
(19:14):
.
And the final voice we often getis sometimes the voice of doubt
.
You know, we've all had momentsof doubt where we maybe didn't
believe we could do something, and often doubt closes the door
to possibility.
And this is where we need tostart to ask a different
question.
Instead of asking why can't Ido this, we can instead ask how
(19:36):
can I make this possible?
What resources do I have withinmyself that will allow this to
succeed?
How am I being guided in thismoment to fulfill the destiny of
my soul at a greater level?
As we ask better questions, webegin to move beyond doubt and
we begin to find this new realmof faith.
(19:56):
So look, how can you begin tochange these voices?
How can you begin to actuallybuild a deeper relationship with
the truth of your soul andspirit, to really build a deeper
relationship with the truth ofyour soul and spirit, to really
build up your allies.
Well, what we need to realizefirst of all is that what we
(20:19):
resist persists.
Whatever we try to resist, itwill persist in our lives until
we release it, until we come tolove it and understand it.
So the first step here on thisjourney is the gift of awareness
, and when we notice thisresistance, we can say thank you
.
We can say thank you, I knowyou're here, I know you're
coming up for a reason, I know Iam growing and that's why I'm
(20:42):
feeling you.
But today, fear, doubt, thecritic, all of you can take a
seat at the back.
You can sit in the back seatbecause today I'm driving the
ship, today I'm stepping intothe creator, today I am choosing
my path, and so we then need tojust really question the
beliefs we have and ask arethese old beliefs we have that
(21:04):
are holding us back?
Are they really true?
And if they're not true, whatwould I choose to believe
instead?
What would I choose to believeif I was honoring the creator
within me, if I was honoring thechampion within me, where I was
honoring the empowered soulwithin me?
So look, here's a littleprocess that's going to help you
(21:24):
really build your own wisecircle of allies.
It's going to help you tocreate your own circle of
confidence as you bring inalmost like bringing in an
imaginary board of advisors.
So take a moment now and justsimply close your eyes and
imagine that in front of you youare in a beautiful, amazing
boardroom and if you've everseen a boardroom that has a
(21:47):
beautiful table and a beautifulenvironment and office, but this
is the boardroom of your soul, environment and office, but this
is the boardroom of your souland in this boardroom you can
begin now to bring in your ownwise guidance, your own wise
counsel, a council and board ofadvisors.
That is your support andencouragement, your allies, your
(22:09):
true team of the spirit.
So begin to imagine now that, coming into the room, we're
going to invite in where therewas once fear, instead we're
going to call in the ally ofcourage.
And as you call courage intothe room and you ask courage to
take a chair, just imagine howcourage presents itself.
Is courage a color?
(22:29):
Does courage present itself asan animal?
Does it present itself as anenergy?
Courage present itself as ananimal?
Does it present itself as anenergy, when you feel and sense
the energy of courage for yourlife.
What does that look like andfeel like?
Now, where there was doubt, wecall in faith.
See faith walking into the roomand taking a seat at your
boardroom table.
Again, notice how faith turnsup.
(22:51):
How does the energy of faithpresent itself as one of your
board members, as one of yourwise circle of counsellors?
Now we call in empowerment, andthe energy of empowerment steps
into the room and it fills itsroom with its presence, because
empowerment is fully actualized,it has no limits, it is holy
and complete in its own powerand where there was once
(23:15):
victimhood, we call in thecreator energy, this wise,
intelligent intellikey, thiscreator of your soul that has
allowed you to create and evolveover time, and together with
courage, with faith, withempowerment, with the creator,
with all of these energies andawareness around you, and as we
(23:36):
call in the champion.
Now the champion who's yourcheerleader, who supports you,
who encourages you, who saysit's okay to move forward.
You bring in this energy and thevoices of this team and they
hold the space for you.
So invite them in now and seethem, feel them and, as you do,
they show you on a whiteboard inthis boardroom.
(23:59):
They show you all the fears anddoubts and self-sabotage, and
together you take a duster, aneraser and you begin to erase
all of this old energy from thewhiteboard.
See all resistance beingreleased, see all resistance
being erased, and instead, asyou erase it off the whiteboard,
(24:22):
they bring your awareness tothe center of the board table.
For here, in the center of theboard table, is an amazing
essence of light.
It is the light of your soul, the light of your true spirit,
and this essence is nowbeginning to grow.
So feel this essence of yourtrue being, feeling safe,
(24:44):
feeling guided, feelingsupported by this beautiful team
of allies.
This is the energy that youwere born to create with.
This is the energy that willhelp you self-actualize and,
just like the phoenix that isbeing reborn and rising from the
ashes, you now feel this energygrowing before you.
(25:04):
So breathe it in, feel it andallow it.
Draw your team of allies in,because they have your back.
And so, in this place, feelingloved, feeling supported,
feeling guided.
Simply ask this question now ofyour team how am I being guided
(25:24):
to take the next step?
What is it that I'm beingencouraged to do now to fully
actualize my life, and who am Inow being called to become?
So take a moment, soak that inand, as you do, then just give
thanks to this board of advisorsand know that your support team
(25:45):
of spirit will be around andwith you throughout your life
when you need it.
These are the voices we need tobuild, these are the voices we
need to encourage.
(26:05):
So, look, as we wrap up thissession today and I hope it's
been useful to you to begin toreframe self-sabotage and to
really turn it into finding thatplace of your authentic power,
bringing in your allies thatsupport you on the journey, and
reframing the voices of yoursoul.
And so I come back again tothat beautiful quote by Brianna
(26:26):
West.
And as she says, in the end,it's not the mountain that we
must learn to master, but it isourselves.
So if you found yourself inthat space where you've been
having those conversations, likeNapoleon Hill, with the devil,
with that part of you that isthe ego mind that wants to
resist and to drift, then todayyou get the choice, power of
(26:49):
choice in our lives to set a newpath.
And so, as I finish up today, Iwant to just simply leave you
with this beautiful quote by thegreat American author and
cartoonist, dr Seuss, and itsays this.
It says you're off to greatplaces.
You're off and away.
Your mountain is waiting.
Now get on your way.
I hope this is going to helpyou to find your mountain, to
(27:12):
move beyond whatever is in theway and to really create the
essence of your soul and spiritand how it wants to incarnate
and really make an impact onthis earth at the moment.
And if you found this valuable, remember you can always write a
comment and make sure to followfor more podcast episodes just
like this.
Take care for now, namaste, andI wish you all the best on your
(27:33):
journey.
