Speaker 1 (00:00):
Michigan's Big Show starring Michael Patrick Shields. Do you get
many knocks on doors, Matt Hall, Speaker of the House,
from candidates for governor who wonder if you might like
to be their running mate?
Speaker 2 (00:12):
No, I don't. What I'm trying to do as a
speaker is to be a resource to all the candidates
and to help them develop their platforms. We've got a
lot of changes. You talked about what the business leaders
for Michigan thinks. We got a lot of work to do.
We got to start early.
Speaker 1 (00:27):
Denny Shields is listening this morning along with Mick Livernoi,
and they're getting ready already for the Michigan Ohio State game,
which they will be watching at the Riverview American Legion.
And we want to salute them for that. And it is,
you know, a friends giving when people get together to
feast on a football game like they will. And I
salute the two of them good buddies. And you know
(00:49):
before bow and Woody coached against each other, they were
good buddies too, and they remained good buddies even after
that ten year war, it was the border war. And
you know Whatdy Hayes would never say Michigan, he'd say
that team north of the border. And there was always
the intrigue. If you remember, back in the day, the
Wolverines went to Columbus and at their hotel the night
(01:11):
before the game, somehow the water stopped working and so
they woke up with no water. And Denny and Mick livernoy,
this sounds like a trick they would play on each other.
Bob you fir memorialized it like this, Bob.
Speaker 3 (01:25):
You for again. We're down in this sake bit at Columbus, Ohio.
You know, I said at the top of the show
that the day dawned bright and clear. Everything has been perfect,
except when we woke up this morning. Would you believe,
as it was in nineteen seventy eight, no water for
the entire Michigan football family in the motel, the same motel,
the same excuse this morning as it was two years ago.
(01:45):
They said, one block north of here, the water main broke.
We had no water, and you can't tell me that
it's just a coincidence that a water main breaks. And
we asked the waitress at the restaurant, I said, if
this happened before, she says, oh, it happened two years
ago last night, just before you were here before, I said,
does that seem kind of odd that it would happen
(02:06):
both times that Michigan comes down here to play O.
She said, are you insinuating, sir, that this could be
done purposely? I said, you bet. You're cotton thicking life.
I could say, it's how bad the water media department
is full of Ohio State grats and somehow they just
shut off the water again this morning. Well, I want
to tell you football bands across the state of Michigan.
They shut off our water at five o'clock this morning.
(02:27):
We're going to shut off their water here when kickoff
comes up in about three or four minutes.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
And not only that, if you were driving back or
down to Columbus from Michigan, you could bet you better
not speed because you're going to get a ticket from
the Ohio State troopers. It's Michigan versus Ohio State tailgate
show in the J. P. McCarthy tradition with MPs
