(00:27):
man right now, Larry Olmstad, the travel writer who's been
to Northern Michigan and at this Thanksgiving has actually been
to Plymouth Rock. Happy Thanksgiving And what is Plymouth Rock
like to visit other than the Pilgrims. Of course they
were the first visitors, weren't they.
Speaker 2 (00:44):
Yes, Michael, as you mentioned, I'm glad to be brought
to you by our friends at Boyt Resorts, Leader in
an outdoor recreation with the best scalf and ski resorts
across Michigan and North America. Plymouth Rock is literally a rock.
It's a little bit unimpressive. It sits in a little
enclosure like a gazebo monument in the middle of the
(01:06):
town of Plymouth. You don't have to pay to go
see it. You just go and look at it. And
it's a rock, so it's not that exciting by itself.
But the town of Plymouth, you know, the whole vibe
is Thanksgiving and the Pilgrims, and they have a thing
called a Pilgrim Museum where they have a period village

where people dress up, sort of like Colonial Williamsburg. They
have a recreate, exact recreation of the Mayflower called the
Mayflower Too, that you can go on and walk through
and see how the Pilgrims made the voyage. They've got
a beautiful town full of galleries and shops and breweries
and wineries, so there's a lot going on. It's you know,
it's just outside of Boston. If you're interested in colonial
(01:50):
history and Thanksgiving, it's definitely the place to go. And
it's kind of Thanksgiving year round.
Speaker 1 (01:55):
Must have been some cruise on that boat, eh.
Speaker 2 (01:59):
Yeah. I've actually been to Plymouth, England where they set
sail from, which is also where the Plymouth Rum Distillery is.
If you've ever had Plymouth Navy strength rum or they
used to give to the guys in the British Navy
instead of money back in the day. And it's the
only place in the UK where they fly the American
flag and the Union Jack at the same height all
(02:20):
the time to commemorate that voyage. And it's kind of
cool you can see both ends of the operation.
Speaker 1 (02:25):
Well. On this Thanksgiving, we wish you real food, not
fake food. Larry Olmsted's bestseller on the New York Times
list is real food, Fake food, and we're all about
food on Thanksgiving, and thanks to the Pilgrims too. It's
