Speaker 1 (00:11):
Hey, guys, time to time me time me time Tom again.
It's type of motivation you motivation you Hi? How you doing? Hi?
You been? It is me, It is I You're Beard
and Marathon are in this bag out my gosh, just
motivation you Hi? How you doing? Hi? You been? I
found this cool little audio segment, this great audio segment
by Sam Dima d E m m A. Go check
(00:31):
him out on social media. It's a fantastic listen. But
before you do that, here this part that I found
for you. It is so good, so inspirational, so thought provoking.
Check it out. Here. We go walk on his bus
and a bus driver had the audacity to be having
a good day, and he's singing in the front seat,
(00:52):
singing his favorite songs out loud like he's the artist.
I'm embarrassed to say that his happiness actually bothered me.
I remember I'm walking past Melvin. I couldn't con say
the little smile on the sides of my face. I
was like, you must be having a good day, sir.
And the guy looked at me and he goes, oh, no, here,
we're gonna settle for good. I was like, stop being
so positive, man. I walk myself to the middle of
(01:13):
the bus, clenching my fists. Be angry, be frustrated, be annoyed.
Doing this guy's positivity make you feel good? How do
you all? My name is Melvin. This ain't no average
bus ride, No, no, no. This is my eight hours
of rehearsal time. So if you hear a song that
you love, please feel free to join in and single long.
First five minutes, this guy's singing over the speaker. I'm
clenching my fists. Second five minutes, I'm like a student
(01:36):
at a school dance, not sure if they want to participate,
standing in the corner when the music starts. Doing this.
Last five minutes, I'm standing up on this bus holding
the safety loop. Please, old man. Fifteen minutes is all
it took for me to totally shift my attitude. I'm
walking off this bus with gratitude. I stopped it from
the Melvin. I'm like, Melvin, You're the best bus driver
(01:58):
I've ever had in my entire life. I'm gonna give
you all your American money. I had three dollars. I
want myself off the bus, and that night I journaled.
Melvin simply changed the way I felt just by the
way he showed up. Guys, think which thing that was?
Sam dimad Emma Sam Dima. He's an inspirational, motivational speaker.
(02:18):
He has content over on Facebook and Instagram. I highly
recommend go and check him out over there if you
like what you find over there. He's also an author.
He wrote his first book at age twenty two. It's
called Emptying your Backpack. So if you like what you
listen to and like what you hear here, you can
get more of his content right there in his book.
Go check him out. But let's further unpack what we
(02:40):
just heard about the story that Sam tells about Melvin
the bus driver. Melvin made a conscious decision to come
to work that day, probably every day with a positive attitude,
because you can be more productive with a positive mindset
than a negative mindset. But not only does that affect
(03:01):
your day, but that positive mindset, that positive outlook, that
positive energy that affects people around you, that brings them up.
If you are a manager or a team member, guys,
come to work with a positive mindset, with a positive
attitude and keep that positive attitude going all day long.
(03:25):
It will bring up everyone around you. If you're a leader. Man,
the people you are leading, they're gonna gravitate towards that.
It's gonna pick them up. If you're part of a team, man,
it will bring the people around you up, and it
will guys. I guarantee you, it will bring up your
level of output. Because the person that brings negative attitude
(03:50):
to the team, a negative mentality when they're being the
leader man, that brings everybody down. I had a boss.
I had a boss. She just walked away from a job.
She's going on and take another task. But that boss,
for a year that I had her, she was the
most positive person here twenty four seven. She exuded positivity.
(04:14):
It was hard to be around her and not become positive.
It was hard not to want to come to work
every day in a positive attitude. It was hard to
say no when she asked you to do a little
bit more because she was so gosh darn positive. On
the flip side, I now have a new boss. That
boss is absolutely miserable. You could see it on her face,
(04:37):
you could hear it in her voice. She has brought
down the level in the office tenfold down because of
the way she approaches a day, her demeanor, her countenance,
her facial expressions, her attitude sets the tone for the
entire staff, for the entire office. She's the leader. She's
the one that sets the tone. And her attitude doesn't
(05:00):
make me want to do more at the office, doesn't
even make me want to go to the office. It
makes me want to get to the office, do my job,
and get the heck out. That's it. And she's setting
that tone, and it's really starting to affect everyone in
the office. And she's only been there a couple weeks.
I really hope she turns it around. I really hope.
Gosh probably have said maybe she'll listen to this, maybe
(05:22):
she'll listen to Sam Dima, maybe she'll get the idea.
But that's me venting. Guys, set the tone. Be that person.
Bring the positivity to whatever team you're part of. If
you're a leader, bring the positive energy. It will affect
everyone around you. It will affect everyone. Thanks for joining
me again this week. I'm the Beard of marathon Er.
