faithful valet, Cato, britt Reed, daring young publisher, matches withs
with racketeers and saboteurs, risking his life that criminals and
enemy spies will feel the weight of the law By
the sting of the Green Hornet. M ride with britt
(01:28):
Reid and the thrilling adventure the Nut. The Green Hornet
strikes again. Britt Reid and my expert. We're on their
(02:01):
way to the office of the Daily Sentinel.
Speaker 3 (02:03):
In the expert's card, Expert, why are you using the
longest route to the office.
Speaker 4 (02:09):
Oh, Read, I didn't think you notice it. We were talking,
and what with traffic as it is in spite of
gasline ration and my breaks are what they are sticks now, Read,
why do you say that? Don't you think this is
a more pleasant way to get to the office and
going through all that traffic.
Speaker 3 (02:24):
Well, unquestionably, since when have you been so keen for nature?
And why did you bring your camera?
Speaker 5 (02:30):
Reed?
Speaker 4 (02:30):
Sometimes I think you should have been a detective.
Speaker 3 (02:33):
Well that's an uncertain compliment.
Speaker 4 (02:35):
Look at how the leaves are changing, but they look nice, though, Galli.
A day like this brings something out in.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
Meat ax for turn right at the next driveway, and
that's a shorter route to the meat sanitarium. What I
said the meat sanitarium, Man, don't keep asking me to
repeat what I say while you try to think of
an answer or reply.
Speaker 4 (02:53):
Say that meat sanitarium is where there was an escape
this morning.
Speaker 3 (02:57):
Yes, I heard the radio newscast too, and immediately after
the broadcast you put your precious last roll of film
in your camera, your camera in your pocket, and suggested
that you drive to the office today today. And that
was not coincidence, you know, and it was curiosity. You
want to investigate the Dexter escape and you want to
(03:18):
try and get some pictures.
Speaker 4 (03:20):
Maybe I could use me experience as a detective and
get some pictures that would be overlooked by the regular photographer.
Maybe you can mean it'd be all right for me
to go in there.
Speaker 3 (03:28):
Why not? Hey, you say what you wanted to do
in the first place, instead of all the kindiving read.
Speaker 4 (03:35):
Sometimes I think maybe if you were to use your
head going after that green Harnet.
Speaker 3 (03:39):
You'd get him.
Speaker 6 (03:40):
You do.
Speaker 4 (03:41):
You sure have a way of tinking things out. Deduction,
That's what it is.
Speaker 3 (03:46):
Stop right here. Hey, I never met doc. Need you
know only by sight. We've never met, but we will
within the next five minutes. Yeah, it looks like the
cops and news hawks of all gone. I don't see
many cars are own stories all by this time. Dexter
escaped hours ago.
Speaker 4 (04:04):
But there might be something the others missed.
Speaker 3 (04:06):
It might be he usually is, Yeah, that meat is
quite a giant here, large, but none too reputable. Oh
is that well? There have been stories that meat works
on the shady side. No, is that all thing's ever
been proved against it. They have often been hints that
some of the patients who are confined in this place
(04:27):
are I'm not as far out of their minds as
they're supposed to be. Oh, sometimes it's convenient for people
to have a relative out of circulation. A meat beach
keeps people confined. He has barred windows if needed, and
even padded cells.
Speaker 4 (04:40):
And I could see some of the bad windows, and
I thought maybe you should ring a bell or something.
Speaker 3 (04:46):
No, I don't think that's necessary. You do, doctor mean
at your service.
Speaker 4 (04:52):
Just step into my office if you please. I'll examine
the patient at once. I see certain symptoms.
Speaker 6 (04:58):
Patient.
Speaker 3 (04:58):
My name is Reed of the day, Yes.
Speaker 4 (05:01):
Mister Reed, and is the patient relative that call my
arm quietly, if you please, your patient, doctor made.
Speaker 3 (05:07):
We came to ask a few questions about the escape
of mister Dexter. This is Michael, asked for the reporter
on my paper report.
Speaker 4 (05:13):
That's what he said, ain't no mental case? Incredible? The
newspaper men have all left. There's still two law officers
upstairs looking over the room from which mister Dexter escaped.
Speaker 3 (05:25):
Where we go up there?
Speaker 4 (05:26):
Come with me please, I'll personally escort you. I never
liked these self started elevators.
Speaker 3 (05:37):
How long had mister Dexter been with you?
Speaker 4 (05:39):
For some time? He was, in fact a very well
behaved patient. I never had trouble with him before. Did
he have relatives? Well he might have had, but he
was a charity patient.
Speaker 3 (05:51):
I didn't know you had that kind.
Speaker 6 (05:53):
Here we are.
Speaker 4 (05:56):
This is the first escape I've had. I never dreamed
that Dexter would do such a thing. I had him
in one of our best rooms. No bars in the
window or anything. Right this way, gentlemen, I brought two
members of the press. Hello, expert, what are you doing here?
Hello yourself. I'm here to do a special story on
(06:17):
the jail. I need the escape. This is my boss, Brett.
Read read This is how you go to the plain
clothes cops. I know you go, say, we're all funny.
It's here now you guys can take over. Thanks, say
you Exford. Come on, Joe, did you learn anything?
Speaker 3 (06:34):
We got some lead. We'll find Dexter all right, don't
you worry about.
Speaker 4 (06:38):
Him very well? But I do hope you'll find him quickly.
The man does have homicidal tendencies. There, mister Reid is
the window through which he escaped.
Speaker 3 (06:50):
Dropped to the ground.
Speaker 6 (06:51):
He didn't drop to the ground.
Speaker 4 (06:52):
He lowered himself on a rope made out of bits.
She's there, they are, you see. He ripped them into
the lengths and tied him together, and then tied one
end around the foot of the bed, pulled the bed
to the window, and let himself down. I wonder if
the rope would reach to the ground still read, I'd
get a picture of your tid the bed sheet to the.
Speaker 3 (07:12):
Bed poll I don't put me in any of your pictures.
That's in order. Well, all right, then, is this how
it was done? Doctor made Yes, that's right. Was Dexter
a big man?
Speaker 6 (07:23):
Yes he was.
Speaker 3 (07:24):
He was as big as as mister Exford.
Speaker 4 (07:27):
He found it hard slide down this thing.
Speaker 3 (07:30):
Why I suppose that's the only way he could have
gotten out without help from the outside.
Speaker 4 (07:34):
We had no help. I know he didn't. As a
matter of fact, I saw him escape. I came into
the room just as he went down the bed sheet rope.
I shouted at him, but he paid no attention. I
wasn't doing anything, read, just looking at it.
Speaker 3 (07:48):
I want you to emulate Dexter. What slide down that rope?
Oh no, I take a picture of your demonstrating how
the escape was accomplished. Say that's an idea. Why, golly,
that's a twell idea. Not a giant there you ought
to be. But I take it, take it.
Speaker 4 (08:07):
This seems to be like a lot of horseplay, particulity of.
Speaker 3 (08:15):
I will soon know.
Speaker 7 (08:17):
I'll be careful where you walk.
Speaker 3 (08:23):
Don't step on any footprints. Wait there, I'll be right
where there.
Speaker 4 (08:27):
The police made copies of the footprints, but they were
but they didn't amount to much because of the grass.
Speaker 3 (08:34):
Yeah, yes, you can develop it as son. As we
reached the office, there.
Speaker 4 (08:51):
You are, Casey. Isn't it a Lulu expert?
Speaker 3 (08:53):
Is this really you?
Speaker 4 (08:56):
I didn't know you were such an athlete. O. God,
you should have seen me when I was on the cops.
I used to be in the field day, not running
shot putting.
Speaker 3 (09:04):
It's read, Yes, take his file into will you? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (09:07):
Shorting read? I got the picture, turf Dowell. Here take
a look.
Speaker 3 (09:17):
Did miss case give you the roff rudolphile?
Speaker 4 (09:18):
Oh yeah she did?
Speaker 3 (09:19):
Read here tis thanks er.
Speaker 4 (09:22):
What's Ralph Rudolph? He's like I've heard him?
Speaker 3 (09:25):
Well, he aksert as a man of affairs. Oh he's
the step brother of the escape mister Dexter. He is
holy crow. I did not add hither the DIALA checked
back on mister Dexter. It was Rudolph who had Dexter
committed to doctor me.
Speaker 4 (09:37):
Oh.
Speaker 3 (09:38):
I also learned that Dexter really was in a bad way.
It was one time considered quite dangerous.
Speaker 4 (09:42):
Gaddy, you think he'll kill some one.
Speaker 3 (09:45):
I think it's important that he be recaptured as soon
as possible.
Speaker 4 (09:48):
Yeah, maybe I should go to work in the case
I might be able to do something. But it wasn't
for the fact that doctor, mean some one go out there.
One er, what were you going to say?
Speaker 6 (09:59):
Nothing?
Speaker 3 (10:01):
Let me see what information we have on rof Rudolph.
We had something in the day's paper about that man
names one that stays with him.
Speaker 4 (10:07):
Yeah, he noticed that.
Speaker 3 (10:09):
See now here's the article. Rudolf's a member of a
new committee that's been set up locally to supply the
people of Italy with needed articles.
Speaker 4 (10:17):
But Fred hasn't there been any committee for that.
Speaker 3 (10:20):
We has to a degree, But now the job's more
important than advisers. Tons and hundreds of tons of food, clothing,
medical supplies and materials to rebuild will have to go
to ATA. These people find out what they've been missing
for the past few years.
Speaker 4 (10:33):
By golly, Uncle Sammy, will shore take care of him?
Speaker 3 (10:35):
Now? I wonder how Rudolph got on that committee.
Speaker 4 (10:39):
Er, Er, maybe you could find out by making some
phone calls.
Speaker 3 (10:43):
He always have been able to pull strings and.
Speaker 4 (10:46):
Then don't you think he should be on the committee expert.
Speaker 3 (10:50):
I haven't studied the situation enough to form an opinion,
but I would like to know Rof Rudolph better. That's
why I sent for the file. Mhm, Well, would have
(11:10):
permit me to congratulate you?
Speaker 6 (11:12):
We see if I'm talking here, curse quite safe.
Speaker 4 (11:15):
I would be alone for the remainder of the afternoon.
Speaker 8 (11:17):
You saw that I secured the appointment. Yeah, but you
know several days ago that you would get it. Now,
what use will we be able to make of it?
Speaker 6 (11:25):
Use, Kurt?
Speaker 8 (11:26):
The benefit will be immeasurable. We will just have a
supplies of moving toward it.
Speaker 9 (11:30):
La.
Speaker 6 (11:31):
We will know just where a few Torpeters can do
the most good.
Speaker 8 (11:34):
To block those supplies, there must be some crimes, crimes
so important that every agency in the country will be
up in arms, and yet there would be nothing to
touch us. How's that I have made provisions?
Speaker 4 (11:49):
I don't understand.
Speaker 8 (11:50):
Perhaps it's better you don't be assured, however, that I
have always gained my ends by careful planning and remained
a free man. And I might say I had a
reconted one by full sight.
Speaker 1 (12:03):
I think you will go farward, and through our affiliation
you will be rich.
Speaker 8 (12:08):
It's cash that interests me. As long as the cash
is on handcut and wood for you, the cash will
be on hint, as long as there's a third ride.
Speaker 2 (12:32):
That evening, brett Reid was in his apartment with Kato,
his faithful Filipino Vallat. The only man who knew him
was the green Hornet. Oxford sat in a deep chair,
staring with fond eyes at his picture in the Daily Sentinel.
Speaker 4 (12:45):
Oh, Galli, A.
Speaker 3 (12:47):
Why don't you get into that case? Hey? You mean aster?
Speaker 4 (12:51):
I was thinking about it to read.
Speaker 3 (12:53):
Maybe the police need help. There's so many new men
on the force these days.
Speaker 4 (12:57):
I will say that same thing the other day. Cat,
get out of the chat hat there, bye, Gali. With
the cops need is more guys that have been through
the mill, hellas like me than know the rope. Nowadays,
the cops are using too much science and not enough
of the old bulldog and determination. That's what it takes.
Guys like we used to have that never stop. Like
the Northwest Mountain, they keep to the trail so they
(13:19):
get their man.
Speaker 3 (13:20):
Have you been the headquarters?
Speaker 4 (13:21):
No, I was thinking about going there tonight. If you
don't have anything planned.
Speaker 3 (13:26):
I'd be great if you could give the police a
few pointers big story for the Sadden.
Speaker 4 (13:29):
I don't read, by golly that I will you want to? Oh? Thanks, Kato,
I see you later. Read very well? All now love
there you have a plan, mister Bricktin, you guess you
want ad missed the expert out of the apople Kato.
Speaker 3 (13:50):
When I saw the bedsheet, it seemed to me that
the end were the didn't look right. No, I tied
the other end of the bed sheet around the bedpost,
and that expert slide down. Yes, the end that was
tied when Axford went down was creased very hard. Axbridg's
weight put hard creases in the linen. But the other end,
the end that had been tied when Dexter was supposed
(14:11):
to have gone down, wasn't creased nearly as hard. Oh,
Dexter did not go down the bed sheet. He left
the room by another means.
Speaker 4 (14:19):
But you said that doctor Mead saw him go down
the dead sheet.
Speaker 3 (14:22):
Doctor Mead said, he's saying yes.
Speaker 4 (14:24):
But why did he say that? M I don't know.
Speaker 3 (14:27):
I remember how quickly he spoke up to convince me
that Dexter took that way out, and I wanted at
the time why he was so emphatic about being an
eye witness.
Speaker 4 (14:35):
To make you more convinced, probably what else you learned,
grit Well.
Speaker 3 (14:39):
I looked around beneath the window where there was some footprints,
and I found the marks a ladder might have made
if Dexter went down the ladder. It means help from
the outside. It also means that Mead knew about that
help and sanctioned it.
Speaker 4 (14:52):
Why would anyone help him to escape?
Speaker 3 (14:54):
That's what I want to find out. Dexter's only living
relative was Roll for Rudolph and Kate. I want to
sell at once, So come on, bring the mask in
the weapon.
Speaker 6 (15:03):
We'll go.
Speaker 3 (15:03):
As the Green Hornet.
Speaker 2 (15:12):
Stepping through a secret panel in the rear of a
closet in his bedroom, brit Reed and Cato went a
long and narrow passage built within the walls of the
apartment house itself. This passage led to an adjoining building
that fronted on a dark side street. Though supposedly abandoned,
this building served as the hiding place for the sleek, superpowered,
black beauty streamlined car of the Green Hornet. Britt Reid
(15:37):
pressed a button. The great car roared into lighting. A
section of the wall in front raised automatically, then closed
as the gleaming black beauty sped into the darkness.
Speaker 3 (16:00):
M hm h m.
Speaker 1 (16:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (16:27):
A few minutes later, Ralph Rudeau, seated alone in his
old mansion, thought he heard a noise?
Speaker 6 (16:35):
Who is it? Where you are?
Speaker 3 (16:36):
Rudel's take it easy and don't yell.
Speaker 6 (16:41):
You're the green horn.
Speaker 3 (16:44):
You know why I call on you. You're on a committee, Rudolph,
and I want to know all about it.
Speaker 6 (16:51):
I couldn't grieve. You're nutted in the agent.
Speaker 3 (16:53):
I know that you have some records and plans for
that committee. Where are they?
Speaker 10 (16:57):
Very heaven?
Speaker 6 (16:57):
Did anything?
Speaker 3 (16:58):
Don't lie? I find not for my So are you
going to do? Exit? So you'll not give an alarm?
Speaker 6 (17:04):
Taken a load?
Speaker 3 (17:04):
You'll recover in an hour to go through this house.
Come in, Kato, we'll look through the house together, very well.
Keep your mask on. I think we're alone except for Dexter,
but we'll take no chances.
Speaker 4 (17:23):
You expect to find Dexter. Do you think Rudolph he'llped
him escape?
Speaker 6 (17:27):
Well?
Speaker 3 (17:27):
Dexter was really insane, Kato. He never could have avoided
recapture with a dragon that the police had thrown out
from him. He had to be brought worse and kept
a hiding.
Speaker 4 (17:37):
We'll try this room mixed.
Speaker 3 (17:41):
Right here.
Speaker 4 (17:42):
There are other rooms in the basement.
Speaker 3 (17:44):
I don't know why Rudolph would want Dexter out of
that made place, but we'll find out. We don't have
any success here, We'll pay a call on doctor maide Yes, sir.
Speaker 6 (17:55):
Down the stairs.
Speaker 3 (17:58):
Maybe we can persuade me to know who took Dexter
out and watched the print.
Speaker 4 (18:04):
Scott there he is in the barred room in the corner.
Speaker 3 (18:08):
Help me trying to talk to him.
Speaker 10 (18:16):
Help the war. They saved me. I'm a soldier the king.
I'm going to win the war.
Speaker 3 (18:19):
I am, of course I'll help. What are we going
to do?
Speaker 10 (18:23):
I'm gonna win the war, I am. They told me
I was a soldier the king. A soldier the king,
the king. A soldier the king, the king.
Speaker 3 (18:31):
He's not the least but rational.
Speaker 4 (18:36):
King.
Speaker 3 (18:46):
You why did Roff bring that man here?
Speaker 4 (18:49):
They don't.
Speaker 3 (18:50):
You wouldn't if he didn't have a definite use for him.
Speaker 4 (18:52):
It's true.
Speaker 6 (18:53):
Wait, Tater listened carefully.
Speaker 3 (18:55):
Have an idea it might work. If I understand Rudolph's time,
it will work.
Speaker 4 (18:58):
What is it, mister?
Speaker 3 (18:59):
I'm going to conceal myself in the house until he
recovers consciousness and see if he makes any phone calls. Yes,
and you Kater will hide in the trunk of his
card alone where he goes if he leaves the house.
I have a hunch that as soon as he recovers,
he'll contact someone who's working with him, working in whatever
plan calls for the use of dexter.
Speaker 6 (19:27):
H kah, good, Yeah, that's you thought it was.
Speaker 5 (19:35):
Heretigation might be the best breakaballah.
Speaker 8 (19:49):
Yah mhm, hell good. I've got to see you at
wants is it?
Speaker 6 (20:01):
No?
Speaker 9 (20:02):
I think it's a break of a lifetime. It'd be
a tenth and spruce. We'll talk in my car. Wow, well, Dolph,
but you have to say had better be important. It
(20:23):
is a little while ago I had a collar him.
The green Hornet came to my home.
Speaker 6 (20:28):
The hornet. Yes, he demanded whatever information I had about shipping.
Speaker 3 (20:32):
It in did Why is he interested in that?
Speaker 6 (20:35):
I don't know.
Speaker 8 (20:36):
I told him I had nothing, and he guessed me,
went through my desk and pushed on papers.
Speaker 6 (20:42):
He left. This can you see it by the desk
led my comb.
Speaker 4 (20:47):
There's a picture of a hornet.
Speaker 8 (20:48):
Yes, and it's well known the Please what do you
plan to do, don't you see, Kurt? Now we can
blame everything on the green hornet. I didn't tell you
how I planned to avoid travel. But here was my
original scheme. I got a step brother out of meat Salitai.
I have him at home now in the basement. I
(21:09):
planned on living Dexter loose. The night of our committee meeting,
the lights would go out, Dexter would supposedly fire a
few shots with a stolen pistol, then make off at
the papers. He would later be found the papers in
this position then, but some of the most important papers
would be missing, but the assumption would be that Dexter
had simply lost them. Now we have an even better
(21:33):
for guy the green hornet. Let him take the blame
to the robbery.
Speaker 6 (21:38):
I'll whoon. Please let them know the honor called on there.
But I won't show them this seal. I'll save it
and leave it in my libraries. It would be found
after rights go on. Sounds good about the work.
Speaker 3 (21:51):
We will work out the details later. There's plenty of
time between now and the meeting on Friday evening chores.
Speaker 8 (21:57):
You won't need me. I just want you to theodictric
man outside my house. Katty did Timmy Glode everything else.
Speaker 2 (22:16):
Friday evening, as ten o'clock approached, Michael Expert was in
police headquarters discussing the still missing Dexter with his cronies.
Speaker 4 (22:24):
Hey talked with Doc Metigan and you know, by there's
something about that guy, the daughter ring true.
Speaker 3 (22:30):
Well, what can we do about it? He has a
story and he sticks to it.
Speaker 4 (22:34):
I don't know that. I don't Kelly. There's been so
much in my mind all week. Red had been making
a special story on this new Food and Supply committee,
but with the green hearted making Colin Ralph Rudolph the.
Speaker 3 (22:45):
Other has read. Any ideas why the hornet would be
interested in Rob rudol.
Speaker 4 (22:50):
No, he said, maybe the hornet wasn't there at all,
not there at all. Maybe Rudolph on he said he
was there.
Speaker 3 (22:58):
I don't know.
Speaker 6 (22:58):
I hadn't thought of that any.
Speaker 4 (23:00):
But you got to admit this Read's theory ain't bad.
There wasn't any hornet teen or anything. And Rudolph said
there hadn't been anything stolen.
Speaker 3 (23:07):
He said, that the hornet was looking for information about
the committee, which same Rudolph didn't have.
Speaker 4 (23:13):
It takes a lot of thinking. What time he got
close to ten o'clock. I guess I'll get home then.
It don't look like much will happen around here. Read
a bit the officerly in the morning to go over
the story the committee meeting.
Speaker 6 (23:26):
Hold of them on police headquarters.
Speaker 3 (23:29):
I'm calling for doctor, me for doctor MEARI I can't
keep quiet any longer. He didn't see Dexter go out
the window.
Speaker 6 (23:35):
What he's saying?
Speaker 3 (23:36):
He says me, didn't see Dexter go out the window.
Speaker 4 (23:39):
The Prince snakes me listening.
Speaker 3 (23:42):
Dexter got out with a latter and he's he can't
even Rudolph's who right now?
Speaker 4 (23:45):
Wow, that's all I can say, Hello, Hello, who is it?
Speaker 3 (23:50):
Who are you? He is gone?
Speaker 4 (23:53):
What did you hear that? Dexter's at Rudolph's house right now?
For instance, we got to go out there and pass
what expert the meeting is on right now? That don't
have We gotta go get the lads, get the car.
Speaker 3 (24:02):
Come on, gentlemen.
Speaker 8 (24:21):
One of the items that have to go to it
is cool. They need a lot of coal if their
industries are to produce for their allowed nations.
Speaker 3 (24:28):
I agree with you, Rudolf.
Speaker 8 (24:30):
I think we will find it necessary to make revisions
in this list, and of course the department in Washington
will have the final say. But there's men of business
and men well advised in shipping. We can pool our
suggestions for submission.
Speaker 3 (24:42):

blame on each other.

get away with the planets. Then when he got a
call from the Green Hornet, he saved the seal of
the Hornet, thought he could blame him, but the Harnet
got wind of it and stepped in and gum teams up.
