Speaker 1 (00:01):
He is a maritime radio I'm Bethany, and you are
listening to the.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Monthly Millill Fans News and Views show.

Speaker 3 (00:14):
They put out quite before further you may hear sounds
that are not unusually.

Speaker 4 (00:22):
Enjoyed the show. And here we go.

Speaker 5 (00:25):
I've got out here George slowly.

Speaker 3 (00:30):
Hello, Amen and Patricia Maslin from Bexley.

Speaker 6 (00:34):
Good evening, Good evening, and lo.

Speaker 4 (00:37):
And behold Dean Wilson from Bromley. Hello, Dean, I aimen right.

Speaker 3 (00:41):
We'll discuss all things mill Chat with a former Lion
and reviews recent results. And first up, we'll start with
that result today that for me was almost feeling like
a loss.

Speaker 7 (00:54):
Dean.

Speaker 5 (00:55):
What was it like you were there at the Casam Stadium.

Speaker 4 (00:58):
Yeah, you just go back. It was.

Speaker 8 (01:02):
It was a good game, a good performance by us,
but I just think that we've got to concentrate for
fifty minutes per half. But you know, I think he's
a point on the road. So it was really really
gutting ninety six minute goal. But we're still up there,
we're still fourth, so we can't be too dejective, can we?

Speaker 3 (01:25):
No, it can't be George, what did you make of
the goals that we scored.

Speaker 9 (01:31):
Well, I doubt whether we scored an easier goal than
the first. No, yeah, and and the second old Cooper
scores because I think he is the rock of the team.

Speaker 4 (01:40):
If there is four hundred yeah, So I was.

Speaker 9 (01:43):
Delighted because, as I say, and I'll emphasize it again,
I think Cooper.

Speaker 6 (01:47):
Is the rock of the team.

Speaker 3 (01:49):
Cooper man to the rescue. What did you feel about
that result? Did you feel as dejected as I did?

Speaker 6 (01:57):
Yeah, I mean, as I've already told you, and I
didn't get to see most of the game, but I
mean I looked at the goals afterwards, and it did
feel like a loss.

Speaker 9 (02:05):
I mean.

Speaker 6 (02:07):
I did see where we went one out and most millwall.
After the run of success we've been having, you're thinking
it isn't gonna be easy, but we got this and
like late goal first half, late goal second half. Yeah,
it felt like a loss, but we should be pleased
with a point.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
I think Phil Coleman Sunday when he said we've got
to learn our favorites was playing for the Brom.

Speaker 9 (02:34):
Well, okay, we'll let that go. I think we know
on off here before we came on. But the goalwards
E scored, I just thought that's you know, two yards out.

Speaker 3 (02:46):
But there was another goal that was quite exciting too
from Surge with Sturge.

Speaker 6 (02:52):
Wasn't there that was the first goal, wasn't it?

Speaker 3 (02:56):
That was at the ends so long ago.

Speaker 6 (03:02):
I just remember thinking the opening. Obviously we played Coventry
and it had been such a poor game and West
Brom coming down you always think they're going to be
good team. It was surprising. I think we really shook
ourselves about after that bad loss, and I thought we
were brilliant that day, can't.

Speaker 3 (03:22):
I still remember Surge's goal that well, it was.

Speaker 4 (03:25):
A very good goal.

Speaker 9 (03:27):
Pat's got very short memory.

Speaker 6 (03:29):
I remember that Billy's pass for that second goal that
that stood out to me. Anyway, talk about.

Speaker 4 (03:36):
Surgeon there you go. How about Queens Park Rangers.

Speaker 8 (03:42):
Yeah, I was over at Queens Park Rangers. It's always
a good away day over the nice compact stadium.

Speaker 4 (03:48):
We made lots of noise and to.

Speaker 8 (03:51):
Get the win there was brilliant because I actually think
QPR outpaced us some really strong players over there, and
I think, is it Fry the big lay up front?

Speaker 4 (04:02):
Yeah, he bullied us a little bit, but it.

Speaker 8 (04:05):
Turned into a bit of a battle and when the
game turns into a bout, there's no one.

Speaker 4 (04:09):
Better than mealll really.

Speaker 3 (04:11):
No.

Speaker 8 (04:11):
They were passing the ball around us, but once we
closed them down, they didn't really do a lot and
it was another.

Speaker 6 (04:17):
Win for us.

Speaker 4 (04:18):
And yeah, what a mouth has been, you know, to
be up there in fourth.

Speaker 6 (04:23):
There's been seasons when we look around with four from bottom. Yeah.

Speaker 9 (04:26):
I thought the one of the really important part of
that game was within about thirty seconds when our keeper
made it absolutely blinding save where I think lots of
goalkeepers would have got caught out by that.

Speaker 8 (04:39):
Yeah, No, I think I think it's actually about thirty
seconds in. Yeah, and he made the same Yeah, that
was really good.

Speaker 3 (04:44):
Yeah, Staying says he got a little bit wrong. It
was thirty seven second wrong.

Speaker 4 (04:50):
Well downstand good to see that you're on somewhere the game.
But yeah, that was a good result. It was able
to flying they were, and.

Speaker 8 (04:56):
It's always good to win the London Dove, isn't it.

Speaker 4 (04:59):
Yeah? Yeah, so yeah, please that one.

Speaker 3 (05:02):
Yeah, how about the Stoke game. It was all a
little bit worried about Stoke because they were flying.

Speaker 4 (05:08):
I what do you reckon that?

Speaker 6 (05:09):
Well, I've got a better work that we finished higher
than than them this year, and I was getting a
bit worried, but what a cracking game. Was an absolutely
brilliant game. That was two goals from Kamara and Disease,
And I mean, I think about a Ease lately. He's
like the man that completes the team, isn't he? He's
like the jill that's really made it as it has

(05:31):
been the last four games before today, absolute quality football,
and I don't I think they only had about twenty
minutes where they were dominant and we just sacked it up.
We were brilliant, excellent game, probably my favorite one of
this season.

Speaker 3 (05:47):
Yeah, yeah, it was a good was absolutely a goodie.

Speaker 4 (05:51):
And then we.

Speaker 3 (05:51):
Had the indominanceable Leicester City or Leicester City depending which
way or if you're American or not, who came to
the den full of brilliants and hoping to see them succeed.
But they did succeed and we won. What did you
make of that one, George?

Speaker 4 (06:13):
Well?

Speaker 9 (06:14):
I found this very interesting because a lot of them
players I thought were really good. I can see Lester
doing really well this season. You're not going to get
many teams that are going to turn Lester over. I
thought they looked like a real quality team, and I
just enjoyed the fact that, you know, all right, we
could have gone. We missed a penalty, but I thought

(06:35):
we were fairly comfortable. I know, at the end you
know they're coming at you, but no, I enjoyed it
and I thought it was a real good test for us.
And following on from the Stoke game where we played
so much good football, I thought this was a little
bit more of a test in football wise, and I
thought we did really well. Yeah, I'm really impressed with

(06:56):
our not only our football, but the recruitment that our club.
I know we're spending more money as a club, but
the recruitment recruitment has been excellent lately.

Speaker 3 (07:05):
I think, yeah, what about ivanavision this penalty game, what
do you make about Well, from a goalkeeper's point of view,
is a very easy one to save.

Speaker 8 (07:14):
It was the keeper literally just put your arms to right.

Speaker 4 (07:17):
It was just a poor penalty.

Speaker 8 (07:20):
I think what may have put him off with there
was a long time between putting the born spot and
the penalty being taken, and let everyone else the take
I don't think. But it wasn't a great stave. It
was very easy for the keeper. Whether he continues to
take the penalties, I don't know where don't change it.

Speaker 4 (07:36):
Well it was a soft one, is mister cap.

Speaker 3 (07:39):
I think along the way now and it's going to
be an issue, I fear, yeah, but well we will try.

Speaker 4 (07:47):
Hard to make things get better. Just a couple of
flavors on it.

Speaker 3 (07:55):
I mean as these has been almost the player of
the match for sponsors all the way through those governments.
I mean today, I suspect he got voted for that,
for whatever he did, but I don't know. I felt
Krama today was a bit of a star across out back.

Speaker 8 (08:18):
Yeah, I mean with his height, him with Jake Cooper,
they were most things in the air they do.

Speaker 10 (08:24):
And he's a tough player.

Speaker 4 (08:25):
Yeah, you know he's not scared of the tackle of Krama.
But just talking about Fami.

Speaker 8 (08:29):
When he went off today, I did feel that the
whole teams went down for a little while because he
was making everything for us. I think you're right, and
so I think they relying on a lot. But hopefully
the injuries isn't too bad and it was more of
a precaution getting him off rather than to make any worse.

Speaker 3 (08:48):
I did feel that bringing Nately on and putting him
in his in his place or replacing him was perhaps
not the best idea either somewhere.

Speaker 11 (09:00):
That we.

Speaker 3 (09:02):
Needed to bring in makhu On at that stage and
put Negli in behind Ivanovich as almost in the ten
spot because he plays a much better game there rather
than be defined by.

Speaker 4 (09:20):
The touchline. Yeah, I think you're right.

Speaker 8 (09:23):
When in Maku came on, he ran at them and
his pace scared them a little bit. So again it's
all about opinion stalled in hindsight. Should we bought him
on earlier?

Speaker 4 (09:33):
I don't know, I do.

Speaker 3 (09:35):
I mean, at least he was taking two players every
time he went down the right hand side, sometimes through.

Speaker 4 (09:43):
And they know he's where he hard to end or so.

Speaker 3 (09:45):
I thought that there was some interesting moves and shots
in direction.

Speaker 4 (09:51):
But I think there's nothing to be too worried about.

Speaker 3 (09:54):
And what we will do is towards the end of
the show we'll preview our next two.

Speaker 6 (10:00):
Can I just say, is anyone else a bit concerned
about an event of it? I mean, he's missed a
few penalties, isn't it. Hasn't he mentioned that? And he
is a weak link I think in the team we're playing,
So well, I think he is our week link. I
wasn't impressed with him today. I think it's a bit

(10:20):
lazy outside the box.

Speaker 4 (10:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (10:24):
I think he needs to get a couple of goals
to get his confidence back.

Speaker 12 (10:27):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (10:27):
I mean it was pleased when he did score the
other day, but I still think he's our week link.

Speaker 4 (10:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (10:32):
I think the way we're playing narrow Pat, we've just
him up there on his own. He's certainly making his
life much more difficult, and he's not a very good
service lately. I mean I watched him today. He was
running around. He was working hard, but you know, there
was no opportunities for him.

Speaker 4 (10:52):
He was just working hard.

Speaker 3 (10:54):
It's all of it for a few between for him. Really,
I don't know whether he is the best man up
top on his own. I suspect there might be other
ways of playing around him. But I did believe when
Natie went into the Tinslop he got a few more

(11:15):
lookings than he had through the first half.

Speaker 9 (11:18):
I didn't notice that, And I thought the point you
made about Negli going into that right sort of wing position,
I thought that was a little bit silly. Actually, I
really didn't think that worked at all. Not his fault
because he's a very quality player, but it was no
point in putting him there.

Speaker 3 (11:36):
We should have either know, get your thing together and
get on there a bit quicker.

Speaker 4 (11:42):
That's the way forward, mate.

Speaker 3 (11:44):
So well, we've zipped through those scores quite quickly actually,
and I think what we'll turn over to is we'll
here from Kai Bennett. It brings us the results from
the Millwall Community Trust.

Speaker 5 (12:00):
Bus Is Romans and Pride.

Speaker 13 (12:04):
Ioness has had a very successful October, winning four losing one.
The month started with a seven to one victory over
Ashford Town in the Women's FA Cup, before beating Glebe
six nil in the next round of the FA Cup
before beating Sport London e Benfica one nil at Rectory Park.
Ashford Town was next up once again, this time in

(12:25):
the League the Lioness Is, winning six nil at Saint
Paul's before losing two nil to Cheltenham Town in the
first round proper of the Adobe Women's FA Cup. The
side played excellently but the Tier three side ran out
with the win. Millwill Romans started the month with the
seven to three victory over London Titans, whilst bill Will
Pride also beat the same opposition six nil. The following weekend,

(12:48):
Millill Romans then beat Bristol City Panthers at five to two,
before completing the month with another victory over the same side,
this time five to three away from home.

Speaker 3 (13:01):
You know, it was it was a bit of a
shame really for the Lionesses, and there's a great report
on that.

Speaker 4 (13:10):
A bit further on.

Speaker 3 (13:13):
But the Romans and Pride are doing well and of
course they've now got into the National League. So realistically
they've got three sides running, two in the London, two
in the in the London leagues that we're familiar with,

(13:33):
and then the the one that's in the National side
which they play that Cup in which which follows really
the whole of the UK and Ireland.

Speaker 4 (13:42):
So that's good.

Speaker 5 (13:43):
But they they summit don't seem to.

Speaker 4 (13:48):
Well. They just don't get beaten very often.

Speaker 3 (13:50):
They are a very good set of teams. So that
was then we should hear also from the wheelchair whereas
down soon and the power chairs that they play in.
They should be back online down there at kid Gridge
with Rhea Daily who runs the set, and she told

(14:10):
me the other night that she hopes that last well soon,
not too soon, but soon they hope to move into
the new I suppose wonderful sports arena that's being built
in Woodage and have some fantastic arrangements there, And we'll
get back to you and tell you all about that

(14:32):
when George goes down and interviews Raa and some of
the wheelchair powerchair users as soon as they go to
that new arena. So I think we'll take a break
here and we'll come back to you when we hope

(14:54):
to speak to our guests.

Speaker 4 (18:12):
Well thanks Bethany. I'm am Barklayer.

Speaker 3 (18:16):
With mey, I have the demonstrably fantastic and fabulous panel.
Patricia Maslin, Dean Wilson and George Lampe. We welcome a
Milwell favourite. Trevor Lee born in Lewisham. Signed from Epsham
and Yell in nineteen seventy five. He helped the Lions
promotion from the third tier in his first season, has

(18:38):
scored ten and nine goals in their first two seasons
back in the second tier. Alongside the Lakeville Walker, also
from Epsom and Yule, they were billed as the first
black footballers to impact the game. Trevor made his name
at Millwall before playing for several other clubs including Colchester United, AFC, Pournemouth,

(19:03):
Fulham and Cardiff City.

Speaker 4 (19:05):
Welcome Trea.

Speaker 18 (19:08):
Hell, I'm hello Trevor.

Speaker 7 (19:13):
All right, Trevor, Yeah, I'm good.

Speaker 3 (19:16):
Yeah, I can't hear you. It's okay. Our main man
can hear it. So we'll ask whole questions and we'll
go from there.

Speaker 4 (19:27):
So it's over to you. Pat.

Speaker 6 (19:29):
Hello, Trevor, it's Pat here. Believe it or not. I
can remember your debut at the Den. Can you tell
me how you recall that against Manstreet Town.

Speaker 18 (19:40):
Yeah, it was a hellible experience because we didn't know
what to expect yourself and Phil, but yeah it was
I was a bit on edge, a bit nervous obviously,
birth game for the club. But it's all got a
a little bit better after Phil scored the goal, you know,

(20:04):
which won the game.

Speaker 7 (20:07):
So yeah, it was a it.

Speaker 18 (20:09):
Was a It was a coss from from the left
of iture was I headed it back across the goal
and Phil headed in. That was it then, I mean,
we we've bought. This is brilliant because we've we've just
arrived at the club.

Speaker 7 (20:22):
It's our first game. You know, you couldn't get off.

Speaker 6 (20:28):
No, and I remember the when you came. The papers
were full of both of you coming. Did the fans,
I mean obviously once Phil scored it must have been
brilliant the fans. You've got the fans on your side immediately.

Speaker 7 (20:42):
We we we hit the ground running.

Speaker 6 (20:45):
Yeah, yeah, hello Travis Georgia.

Speaker 7 (20:51):
Mate.

Speaker 9 (20:53):
When when we returned to the second here, we played
some well memorable games in front of from amazing crowds. Really,
we played the Aston Villas, Charlton's, Chelsea's, Southampton Wolves, Gates
between twenty thirty. What was he like playing in them games? Trent?

Speaker 18 (21:15):
It was an experience because they coming up from playing
youth team football. It was a bit of a culture shop,
you know, because I was.

Speaker 7 (21:25):
I was at.

Speaker 18 (21:26):
Fulham as a youth team player and then moved on
to non league after because Fulham put them decided that
they didn't want to didn't want to give me a
contract after my youth youth to eighteen, you know, so
they they let me go.

Speaker 7 (21:48):
So I ended up I ended up.

Speaker 18 (21:50):
Playing Sunday morning football and all that sort of stuff,
you know, out on the parts of that, and then
eventually I moved on to play nonding football for Cobham
and then with So that's how I got into the
I got back into the eyes of people who wanted

(22:14):
me to play you.

Speaker 7 (22:16):
Know, the club.

Speaker 9 (22:18):
And over your time at Millwell, which players or player
or players influenced you, you know the most?

Speaker 18 (22:26):
I would say obviously the King a Berry kitchener.

Speaker 7 (22:31):
Yeah, of course he was the man. He was the man.

Speaker 18 (22:34):
He took me under his wing and you know and
sort of helped me along, you know, loads of confidence.
Who's going to be confidence and all that sort of stuff.
But yeah, he was the main reason why, uh I
felt so relaxed then, you know.

Speaker 9 (22:53):
Yeah, And I just have to say that whenever you
come to the Den and you walk through the gates,
it takes you about twenty minutes to get to the reception,
don't it, because everybody wants to talk to you and
say loo to you. I just think that's great, actually true.

Speaker 7 (23:08):
Oh it's fantastic, fantastic.

Speaker 8 (23:10):
Yeah, I think me and Wilson here, are you all right?

Speaker 7 (23:16):
Fine? Thank you?

Speaker 4 (23:17):
Yeah, good, Trevor.

Speaker 8 (23:19):
I remember your final fourth season with the Lions, especially
the unforgettable game at White Art Lane. In fact, it's
one of the few trips I think Tottenham made into
the second tier is a well deserved free free draw
for us, and especially since they made Tottenham made their
way back to the top.

Speaker 6 (23:36):
Flight that season. Could you share some of your memories
that match, TeV.

Speaker 18 (23:42):
Well, I don't remember too much about it. The tea,
the tooth, it was it was overwhelming, you know, I
mean for me my first season and you know, you know,
playing against teams like talking to them Chelsea and you
know it didn't feel real, you know what I mean?

Speaker 4 (24:00):
It was like I mean, yeah, the gold scores from
that game.

Speaker 8 (24:05):
Chris Jones, glennard Le, Trevor Lee, Ian Pearson's and Brian Empton.

Speaker 4 (24:09):
Bring back any memories, Fether, Yeah.

Speaker 7 (24:13):
Yeah I remember.

Speaker 18 (24:14):
I remember I Ian Pearson's golf, but yeah he was
he was an incredible Levy and Pierson as well because
he had come out non league as well, you know,
to the club.

Speaker 7 (24:30):
But yeah, he knew where the goal was.

Speaker 8 (24:34):
So Trevor, I'm glad to hear that you are going
to be inducted into the Forever Lions Club when we
play South Ants in a little while. How did you
feel about being selected for this special honor with Millwall.

Speaker 7 (24:50):
As he goes and he goes.

Speaker 18 (24:51):
I didn't know anything about it, it was true, until
until I got a text message and saying that you
know what, I what I uh uh joined whoever to
to at the Den on that certain day, you know,
And I'm thinking myself whether it's just it's just a

(25:13):
normal thing.

Speaker 7 (25:13):
I mean, because I've been down there before.

Speaker 18 (25:15):
People have been in touch with me, and I've been
been to the Den on many occasions and it's just
nice to get down and speak to fans and and
all that sort of stuff.

Speaker 8 (25:27):
You know about and.

Speaker 4 (25:33):
Well deserved. So yeah, I.

Speaker 7 (25:37):
Never knew anything about it at all.

Speaker 18 (25:40):
Until I was taught to Amon yesterday and he said
that he told me.

Speaker 7 (25:49):
I didn't know anything about it.

Speaker 6 (25:52):
So it's a very special honor. And if you're belong
side some really famous players so well deserved as world, Trovor,
thank you.

Speaker 3 (26:01):
And you'll also be beside Patricia Maslin's own creation. And
she's now going to describe that.

Speaker 6 (26:09):
To God any embarrassing.

Speaker 4 (26:13):
No, I think it's worthy of a mentioned.

Speaker 6 (26:15):
No, it's just time to put on the top table
where all your famous players are going to sit. Ignore
him and completely.

Speaker 9 (26:23):
You'll get to see it, Trevor, but she never will
again even though she made it.

Speaker 4 (26:29):
We'll send her a photo with.

Speaker 6 (26:30):
You with her, Yeah, take a nice photo just for me.

Speaker 3 (26:34):
Yeah, that no doubt about it. So, Trevor, I look
forward to seeing you at the Den on November twenty ninth,
and actually Dean will be a schooling you from the
area known as the reception at the Kitchener Stand into

(26:58):
the Lions Center where you'll have an exclusive interview with
me with your colleagues that are also being honored. So
I look forward to that and doing that with you
so for noature ever, thanks for coming on. We appreciate
that and I'll speak to you again soon.

Speaker 18 (27:17):
Take off, friend, Thank you, Thanks you guys.

Speaker 3 (27:26):
Okay, so that was triviale. What a lovely man certainly
was well a flag bearer for the Black footballers.

Speaker 4 (27:35):
Without a doubt.

Speaker 3 (27:37):
Now I know that Another thing that Patrician Maslin has
been exceedingly good at is the creation of our website.

Speaker 4 (27:47):
So will you give us a sort of.

Speaker 3 (27:50):
A brief overview of the group website.

Speaker 6 (27:54):
Please, Yeah, it's taken a few months to get going,
but if you go on to that no one likes
a talking website, you'll find images of all the people
you're here on the show, plus a small write up.
And every after every game, I go on and I'll
update the present game we've just played. So all you

(28:15):
have to do is just log onto the website and
that you'll get a match report, you'll get pictures from
the game, and you'll get the highlights as well, so
it's all in one space. After every game, a couple
of hours later, just log on and you've got it
all in one area. And the more people that join
us on there, the bigger we can get and expand

(28:38):
it to perhaps previews and that and sending ideas. If
you go on and look, you might get some really
good ideas that we can add pages and be part
of it.

Speaker 4 (28:49):
Jewels is going to manage that? How are you going
to manage that?

Speaker 9 (28:53):
I'm got an email you want to start going to.
I think you better ask about that.

Speaker 6 (29:03):
Right on the last page, you can email us. It
goes direct, so it's all really easy, one click and
you can contact us with any ideas.

Speaker 4 (29:13):
Oh sorry, is yours? You've got that wrong?

Speaker 3 (29:15):
It says he you'll be doing it when Pat's not about,
So if you'll be able to speak to Gewels.

Speaker 4 (29:22):
Then that would be wonderful for him. I'm sure. So
what else is going on?

Speaker 3 (29:27):
Well, there are some bits and pieces that are happening
at Then we managed to see the new I suppose
assist equipment that's been installed in the upper tier, which
now gives you something to hold on to when you're
climbing from the I suppose entrance level.

Speaker 4 (29:49):
Up to the up to the sky.

Speaker 3 (29:52):
Definitely something that was needed because those steps are getting
worse and worse and worse as the years.

Speaker 4 (29:58):
Are going by.

Speaker 3 (30:00):
Though some young people can jump up there with without
much of a try.

Speaker 4 (30:04):
But we'd love to hear your experience on those.

Speaker 6 (30:07):
I just wondered if they put them in because they're
doing the safe standing up the back sore, aren't they
Are they doing on the higher level they're doing the
back of the kitchener's stand, right.

Speaker 4 (30:18):
Yeah, that will be interesting.

Speaker 6 (30:20):
And it's quite high to stand up there.

Speaker 3 (30:22):
But those rails are up on the other stands as well.
They are, Yeah, so it's all around, So it'll be
interesting to see how that pans out, and it'll be
interesting to see what the safe standing looks like. I
think there's some misconceptions about what that actually means, and
it might help if the club describes what safe standing is,

(30:46):
because I think it's I think there's those that see
it as going back many years to.

Speaker 9 (30:52):
Where yeh, because you don't you don't take a cheer out,
do you, or anything like that. Your seats still remain weird,
exactly where they are. You just stand exactly where your
seat is if you want to stand in front of here. Yeah,
so there is no there's no extra spaces or anything
like that. It's the same amount of people in the
same spot. But you can stand up.

Speaker 4 (31:13):
If you want.

Speaker 6 (31:14):
I believe the seats are actually locked upwards, aren't they?
Some grounds have seen it, so you can't choose to
sit down at halftime because the seat is locked up right.

Speaker 4 (31:26):
Okay, well i'd have to take your word for that.

Speaker 6 (31:28):
No, I'm only saying I've seen the other grounds will
follow suit.

Speaker 4 (31:31):
You just have to hang over the barrier.

Speaker 8 (31:40):
Do we know how many people, any fans they're providing
that for.

Speaker 4 (31:44):
I'm not sure that we do. I haven't read it anywhere.

Speaker 6 (31:47):
I just know because because my season ticket is in
the Kitchapa and it's behind me, they're all going to
be standing.

Speaker 5 (31:54):
So it's not.

Speaker 9 (31:56):
It's not a huge amount.

Speaker 6 (31:57):
It's only certainly I think there's a trial.

Speaker 4 (32:00):
Yeah, money is a good thing.

Speaker 3 (32:02):
I prefer that where there are grounds where everyone stands,
and I've experienced it down at some ground that's extremely
close to where we are today and everyone just falls
forward and people are getting crushed and god knows what.

Speaker 4 (32:18):
So perhaps at.

Speaker 3 (32:18):
That place that they call the valley, they might want
to do things there.

Speaker 9 (32:24):
What's your mouth about.

Speaker 3 (32:26):
People's people's ability to safely stand rather than safe unsafely?
For so, I think that's a valid point, not offending
any of you had expands, but there ego, that's a
view that we all hold. So yes, we have got
the Forever Lions Club coming up the end of this month.

(32:47):
We're still waiting confirmations from one of the members, but
we can tell you that there is a Lioness and
she is going to join them from the nineteen nineties
who was capped by the Republic of Ireland, probably played
some of the reason of about four hundred games, come

(33:10):
into the first team when she was fourteen and won
some wonderful silverware. So we won't tell you who that
is at the moment, but you might hear all about
it soon.

Speaker 6 (33:22):
I can I just like interven if ever you do,
Harris or Morrison, can I come. I wouldn't present it.

Speaker 4 (33:33):
No, we had Jeff Bernie who wanted to do that.
So you've got to let her do it.

Speaker 3 (33:41):
I'm taking I'm not going to have a photograph out
in the.

Speaker 9 (33:47):
Streets if she don't ask us to do that. Pack
don't worry about Dean. Dean can do it.

Speaker 3 (33:55):
I wonder why Dean can do it, only not read
the the committee arrangements.

Speaker 4 (34:02):
Perhaps your other friend Chris.

Speaker 9 (34:04):
Is on the committee, like a little private club.

Speaker 8 (34:16):
I'm sure we can get Steve Morrison or Chopper to
meet your pat chat.

Speaker 4 (34:22):
She sorry she'd be inabed by that.

Speaker 3 (34:26):
For servant, I'm sure, am sorry, but anyway, it's it's
all going along and really wonderful and we're looking forward
to pick up more players that will join the Forever
Lions Club.

Speaker 4 (34:42):
First. Jason has been put in place.

Speaker 3 (34:45):
And is kindly coordinated by the Community Trust on behalf
of the club and themselves.

Speaker 4 (34:53):
Georgie had the points me.

Speaker 9 (34:55):
I'd like to ask Dean how he finds the new
hospitality section really understand.

Speaker 8 (35:02):
When you walk in, very very impressive, looks like a
West End restaurant. A few teething problems despite the money
they've spent and what they're charging because one restaurant, the
number eleven restaurant's two hundred and fifty pounds ahead. That's
your match ticket and the food is nice. But I
think there's a lot to be designed mind dining in

(35:24):
restaurant that's three hundred and fifty pounds ahead, you know,
And I think that's probably what's been charging the premiership
at the moment. So I think we're a bit over
the top. It's a five hundred percent improvement and all
the food used to be and hopefully the team were
over priced at the moment and on most match and
that's got to be due to the pricing. I think
they bought it down for the championship. You'll get more

(35:44):
people going in there. And I know from exec members
like myself, a lot of them didn't renew just because
of the pricing. And they've been exact members for fifteen
sixteen years and just renewed automatically every year.

Speaker 11 (36:00):
We are married.

Speaker 7 (36:01):
Time Radio, Time Radio.

Speaker 10 (36:04):
Recently, two Millwall fans Jad and Joe completed an incredible
journey cycling all the way from Millwall Football Club to
the Eiffel Tower in Paris. They took on the challenge
to raise awareness and money for the men's mental health
charity His and after days on the road, countless miles
and plenty of sore legs, they made it. They're back
home now and I'm frill to catch up with them again.

(36:24):
How did the righte go overall any surprises along the way?

Speaker 19 (36:28):
Look, I've done If there was a lot of surprises,
I think we're both never be challenging. But we thought
that the discipling part will be the challenge. And actually
after I was an easy bit. There was many many punctures,
There was many breakages. Actually, at one point we actually
broke down. My bike broke quite badly in the middle
of nowhere, pitch black of night, literally the middle of nowhere.

(36:51):
We're actually very lucky that we just cycled past the
house as the.

Speaker 20 (36:54):
Lights on the first cast we're seeing a bad hour
and there's not a houses in the area off so
we had to knock on that the storm and pray.

Speaker 19 (37:02):
That they spoke English and that they'd help us. And
thankfully English. That's very good English actually, and they also
clad back at the back of the car and drove
us about ten miles to our hotel.

Speaker 21 (37:15):
Yeah, I think I think it's safe to say us
second that that you know, there's a lot of stereotypes
about about the French, especially in Paris like they're doing
in London, but in rural France itself, you could not
be more friendlier people than the French. They just don't
want to help you. They want to know what's going on.
Why are you cycling you you must be crazy for

(37:37):
doing this. But yeah, everyone, everyone that we met along
the way has been so lovely and welcoming and they
just want to talk to us, which is amazing.

Speaker 10 (37:47):
So how did it feel when you finally saw the
Eiffel Tower?

Speaker 11 (37:51):
My goodness, So my my take on this.

Speaker 22 (37:54):
So we actually saw the Eiffel Tower the night before
we got there, and again, along with many problems that
we had, we'd come over this brow of a hill
and we got into suburban Paris and a town called
Sergey or Surgey, I don't know if I'm pronouncing that right.

Speaker 11 (38:11):
And Joe got on the phone to his old.

Speaker 22 (38:13):
Man, was we'red On FaceTime you could see the Eiffle
Tower with the naked eyron distance, and me and Joe
got so excited.

Speaker 21 (38:19):
It was like wow, mesmerizing. I can't believe we've made it.
Five minutes later, a bang, I'd hit a pothole, the
back of my racking on my bike snapped in.

Speaker 11 (38:28):
Half, my tire exploded. But that is that perseverance.

Speaker 21 (38:32):
And many times we were challenged mentally, I mean we
were We battled rain, we battled hills, we battled so
many things. At that point, I think me and Joe
was at the point where not we was going to quit,
but we were so deflated and I'm so glad. The
whole way through the process, me and Joe kept saying,
something is stopping us get into the Eiffel Tower, something

(38:53):
is stopping us. I mean, they had a tornado in
Paris that weekend. The loup got robbed, but we carried.

Speaker 11 (38:59):
On with persevered, and we managed to make the arf.

Speaker 21 (39:01):
Toewer the next day. But that was my first account
of seeing the Eiffle Tower. I'll never forget that. I mean,
it's mesmerizing when you stood underneath it. But Joe will
probably do differently, But I mean that was our first
account of seeing the Eiffel Tower for the first time.

Speaker 10 (39:17):
When you actually did make it to the Eiffle Tower,
did it sinking straight away that you've done this?

Speaker 19 (39:22):
I think it took a minute so to really sinking,
Like we had to keep saying shower and make you
made it light, and I got to say, you know,
it was challenging and it was the most change they
ever done because of all the things that we didn't
that happened. All our worst fears came true, Like everything
that could happen wrong went wrong in the cycle.

Speaker 11 (39:38):
But I mean it's called.

Speaker 19 (39:40):
To its broad so it kind of makes sense, but
I think at the time it was like our social
pophones and this is an awful why do we want
to do this? But you know, when we got there,
knowing what we've overcome and knowing that we persevered through everything,
we didn't let any herd obviousacle beat us. It felt
and made and I wouldn't have any other way now,
knowing that prove to me and to jadd we can

(40:03):
do anything. If I'd have known all those things are
going to happen along the way, I'm probably would have
done it because I would have thought I could do it.
But knowing now what I did, I wouldn't change it
for well. It was amazing.

Speaker 10 (40:14):
So how can people follow watch your video, see what
you've done and donate?

Speaker 11 (41:04):

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
